Patients Health Of Medical Marijuana
Patients Health Utilizing Medical Marijuana
Karen Mak
Rutgers University
Introduction to Research Methods, Fall 2016
Abstract
The following study proposal would review the results of the overall health outcomes of patients who
replaced pharmaceutical treatment with medical marijuana. The study will look at the improvements
in meal consumption, Clinical Global Impression scores, Pittsburgh Agitation Scale, and the decrease
in the symptom being monitored. The studies being reviewed research many conditions ranging from
Alzheimer disease, dementia patients, dystonia, dyskinesias, and tics, and pain management. Many
studies indicate that the results may vary, and the extent of its beneficial properties should be
determined by the patients physician. It is hypothesized that the patients that are replacing
pharmaceutical treatment with medical treatment will present positive results.
One of the most popular treatments for medical problems is the prescription of pharmaceutical drugs.
Many doctors prescribe this drug without considering natural or holistic remedies. There are many
alternative solutions for many conditions, like diet, exercise, or therapy, yet doctors are still quick to
write out a prescription for pharmaceutical drugs for their patients. Pharmaceutical drugs can be very
dangerous and extremely harmful in any dosing or potency. Many doctors over prescribe this drug,
leading to addiction and even toxicity. One very popular

Antony Flew on Christian Life
People always tend to give high attention to individuals who turned their backs on their once held
beliefs to argue that (Christian) faith is unreasonable and without real substance. Rationality seems to
be the source of every argument for the non existence of God, and is often understood as inherently
opposing to faith. However, the story of Antony Flew is one that atheists can and should not discard,
as he experienced something very different. Born into a Christian family Flew grew up in the church
and was exposed to Christian beliefs and customs. He never really found a personal connection to
Christianity and converted to Atheism, but after decades of arguing the non existence of God, he came
to the conclusion that there is no other possibility than the validity of the existence of God. This
process is documented in There is a God. Antony Flew is considered one of the, some might argue the
most important, proponents of atheism in the 20th century and his works made major contributions to
the argumentation of atheism.
The author begins his personal story, some might call it testimony, with explaining the process of
becoming an atheist in the first place, before rejecting it after all these years. Born as the son of a
Methodist minister and preacher, Flew went to a Christian school, and was, as he calls himself, a
committed and conscientious, if unenthusiastic, Christian (p.10). He did not feel a personal connection
to God and was not interested in any kind of worship.

The Rice Wheat Farming System
THE ADAPTATION OF RICE WHEAT FARMING SYSTEM TO THE AGRO ECOSYSTEMS AND
WEATHER
Rice wheat farming system:
The Indo Gangetic plain (IGP) of south Asia is formed by the sedimentation of alluvial soil by the
Indus and the Ganges rivers. The large fertile plain with flowing rivers favours agriculture. The rice
wheat farming system in the Indo Gangetic plain occupies 13.5 M ha of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh
and Nepal (Timsina and Connor, 2001). In India, the rice wheat farming system is the major source of
food security as it produces more than 50% of cereal in 10 M ha (Ladha et al., 2000).
Rice wheat farming system formation:
Formerly, the majorly cultivated crop in North Indus and Eastern Indus were wheat and rice
respectively (Ladha et al., 2000). The adaptation and expansion of Rice Wheat farming system
occurred in India with the development of short duration varieties of rice and wheat during the Green
Revolution (Timsina et al., 2001). The allied farming activity is livestock rearing in IGP. The livestock
comprises 10% livelihood of rice wheat based small farm holders in Indo Gangetic plain (Erenstein et
al., 2007) with an average 3.6 cow/household (Erenstein and Thorpe, 2010, cited in Erenstein 2011) .
Agro ecological conditions:
NW Indo Gangetic plain has extreme hot and cold climate whereas the climate is mild in the east. The
continental monsoon type of climate, warm wet summers and dry cool winters, favours the rotational
cultivation of rice and wheat (Dixon

The Grand Impact Of Public Bullying By Cyberbullying
The grand impact of public humiliation brought on by cyberbullying, and those using this for a
financial gain. With just one click someone s personal reputation can be shattered instantaneously. For
some people the public humiliation had been unbearable, and tragically take the lives. Lewinsky
believes we need a shift to a long held value of compassion and empathy that we now lack. I agree
with this argument. For the first time cyberbullying is leading to suicidal ideations. The invasion of
others privacy has emerged a marketplace for public humiliation. The responsibilities that come with
our freedom of expression. I will now discuss my evidence.
For the first time cyberbullying has led to suicidal ideations as a meta analysis done out of the
Netherlands shows sadly more than offline bullying. Lewinsky stated Cruelty to others is nothing new,
but online, technologically enhanced shaming is amplified, uncontained, and permanently accessible.
What Lewinsky is stating with this that we have always had public humiliation however not to the
degree that we do now with social media. Things would happen and it would be shameful, however
once people forgot about it that was the end of it. Now with social media scandals take on a whole
new prospective, and unfortunately it is not always in a positive way. A complete stranger can have
access to this information, and can escalate a simple misunderstanding. It is easy to type in a cruel
comment and not have to see the pain and

How Can You Ensure That You Are Giving Learners The Best...
How can you ensure that you are giving learners the best chance to understand a text? Provide a
(listening or reading) text and show how you would teach a lesson with this in mind, justifying each of
the stage of the lesson.
Listening is the ability to identify and understand what others are saying. This involves understanding
a speaker s accent or pronunciation, his grammar and his vocabulary, and grasping his meaning
(Howatt and Dakin). An able listener is capable of doing these four things together. During the
listening students hear different accents and types.
When students listen or read they process the information they hear both top down and bottom up. Top
down means using our prior knowledge and experiences; we know certain things about certain topics
or situations and use that information to understand. Bottom up processing means using the
information we have about the sounds, word meanings discourse markers like first, then, and after that
to set up our understanding what we read or hear one step at a time. In order to improve students
listening comprehension they should use their prior knowledge. In a typical reading lesson there are
pre activities, while activities, and post activities. In reading learners can skim a text quickly to get a
good idea what it s about, but listeners cannot skim. In listening lesson also has pre , while and post
listening tasks. Each of these tasks is very important in order to ensure that the students understand

Parameters such as amplitude of oscillatory and acoustic wave, radius of bubble and number of
methanol molecules which have effect on bubble kinetics are more pronounced at frequency of 20
KHz. And this frequency is able to maintain cavitation effect in reaction medium. So 20 KHz can be
considered as optimum frequency and used for further simulations. 5.3 Effect of reaction temperature:
Reaction medium (ambient) temperature plays crucial role in controlling bubble dynamics. Impact of

Blonde Stereotypes Research Paper
There are many stereotypes in our world, and we often can find them in the form of what is called
blond jokes . It is a well known fact that these jokes ridicule and stereotype all blond haired people.
Though some people find them hysterical, blonde jokes are actually very damaging to the well being
of blonds all over the world. These jokes often portray blondes as being dim witted, and they display
them as being sexually promiscuous. People often view blonde jokes as being very sexist because
although there are sometimes variations of blonde males, the majority of the blondes portrayed in the
jokes are females. One of the jokes you often hear is How do you get a blonde to climb on the roof? ,
but is this genuinely a joke after all? Another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However could stereotyping have both short term and lasting effects of those who are stereotyped?
According to Michael Inzlicht, Even after a person leaves a situation where they faced negative
stereotypes, the effects with coping with that situation remain. It has been scientifically proven
through tests that one of the lasting effects of stereotyping is that the level of aggression in a person
rises and they tend to have a shorter temper. It is widely believed that frequent use of a certain
stereotype can and probably will result in the stereotype becoming true about a certain type of person
or race. This is probably because of the fact that a person wants to conform to how society perceives
them or how society want them to be. Therefore, stereotypes lower one s self confidence they need to
have in order to get through the day, which in turn could result in effects even more serious or
hazardous. Stereotyping and labeling further lead us to performing discriminatory actions. We have
become so accustomed to labeling and putting people into groups that we do it all the time without
having to think about it. We also tend to treat people with less respect if they are, for example. less
pretty, short or even overweight. It is a part the social injustice that people are treated with less
equality and respect because of our varying

rober lowell Essay examples
Te poem by Robert Lowell seems as if he was remembering his mother s death and what he had gone
through during that time. He tells the story in a poem in a sequential order from being in the hospital,
being in the car with her dead body and finally in the cemetery burying her.
In the hospital we can see that he remembers that the nurse could only speak in Italian. We also see
that, he kind of knew that his mom was going to die because he says that there is only a week left of
her existence. By thinking about all this Robert Lowell starts to tear and I guess does cry.
When he gets his mother s casket in the car he gets very descriptive by saying, the whole shoreline of

Well what I see is that the mother is being buried in the winter time. We can tell when the author says
sub zero whether, soil was changing to stone, blinding snowdrifts, all these lines were describing the
coldest in the winter time. Then he goes on by saying unhistoric soul to come here was Father, now
buried beneath his recent unweathered pink veined slice of marble. When Robert says recent you can
guess that it wasn t long ago that his father had past away. When Robert said unhistoric is seemed as if
him and his dad weren t close at all. His dad was some sort of business man who basically or I can tell
never had time to spend with his son. Even on the father s grave it said Occasionem cognosce, which
means, recognize (your) opportunity, this seemed like he even died during a business deal or
something. The engravement on his grave seemed like he was selling something, unlike other s whose
graves say Rest In Peace or something better. The engravement also felt as if he was on a commercial
you know. Could have been a marketer and was doing an ad you know.
Then he talks about the mother s grave, maybe comparing it with the father s grave. We can see that
the mother s maiden name could have been either Winslows or Starts. Then I see that the grave

Located in the Aberdares Mountain is a native tribe called The Kikuyu. After much research and
extensive surveying of the area, it was determined that a type of evergreen tree known as pygeum or

Some of their ideas are that the government should give a full time doctor and medical facility to the
disposal of the tribe, also to provide them work within the plant and a paycheck every week. Another
option is to lay down roads that connect the region to the mainland and then provide permanent
housing for all members of the tribe. Unfortunately, many African governments are known for being
unfair and uncivilized, and even corrupt, so how are we to know that they Kiyuku tribe would ever see
any of the money or other benefits they are being offered? What is to say they don t keep the money
for themselves and give away the housing and medical to other civilians in the country and not the
tribe people? Many people are lead to wonder if the tribal leaders are fully aware of the ramifications
tied to the plans that Colney and Pitts are offering them. For thousands of years this tribe has thrived
in this land, without the need for money, doctor training, permanent housing. One thing is perfectly
career with regards to the Kiyuku and its people, they have been surviving without the modern
technology in medicine, without machine driven construction of their homes and without farm hands
and tractors to grow their food. They have been surviving strong with the same skills that started with
their people hundreds of years ago. So at the end of the day, one may not believe that the Kikuyu tribe
will suffer the most

What Is Delormier Giddens Theory Of Structuration
Introduction:
Delormier, Frohlich, Potvin, (2009) used Giddens theory of structuration, specifically the concepts of
social practice, the duality of the social structure, and agency to develop a conceptual framework in
their research on food as a social practice. According to Giddens (1984) social practices are at the root
of the constitution of both agent and society (ibid.: 1984:xxii); and social structures constitute rules
and resources which actors draw upon during practice, creating both enabling and constraining
conditions of practice (ibid.: 1984: xxii, 25). It is from this perspective that Delormier, Frohlich and
Potvin (2009) highlight that individual action is not determined by the social structure, but rather
enacted and concretised by people through the choices they make during social practice, and that
through their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other scholars have suggested that the many actions that aimed at transforming Central and Eastern
European societies in the late 80s and early 90s served as springboard for many scholarship on human
agency and social structures (Ahearn, 2001). Several scholarships on the concept have attempted to
subdivide it into different categories: the agency of (unequal) power (Ortner, 2006:147); residential
agency and representational agency (Kockelman, 2007); the performance of agency and the
grammatical encoding of agency (Duranti, 2007). The wide interest and use of the concept in the
social sciences and humanities also imply the proliferation of definitions though with foundation in
Giddens theory of structuration. Agency is the capacity for actors to intervene in the world and to
influence a specific process or state of affairs; that is it can be thought of as the capacity to act

Driftless Area
I live in part of the upper Mid West known as the Driftless area. The terrain contains high bluffs and
hills with narrow valleys. The Driftless area, unlike the rest of the Mid West, escaped the terrain
smoothing, mineral depositing influences of the ice sheets during the glacial period (Jefferson, 2010).
The bedrock contains limestone, sandstone and shale, and is exposed or near the surface making it
popular for sand mining. About 95 present of the frac sand mining in the United State is done here.
Driftless Area When the sandstone layer in the bedrock is broken down and crushed into individual
granules it is called silica sand. This type of sand is very uniform, non porous and strong; it can
maintain its shape when exposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This material is often stockpiled separately on the site for use during mine reclamation (Wisconsin).
Unfortunately the wild life is displaced, bird migration is interrupted and the vegetation is destroyed.
The Driftless area has a lot of plants that are unique to this area only. Explosives are then used to
break the bedrock apart. The unwanted rock such as the limestone and shale are stock piled to be used
later for the reclamation process. Excavation equipment and dump trucks bring the sandstone to the
crusher that is located on the mining site. The crusher breaks the sandstone chunks into individual
sand grains. The sand has to be filtered to remove the smaller grains of sand that are not acceptable for
fracking. The entire process causes a release of silica dust. Inhaling silica dust can lead to serious,
sometimes fatal illnesses including silicosis, lung cancer, tuberculosis (in those with silicosis), and
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Silica exposure has also been linked to renal disease
and other cancers. In 1996, the World Health Organization International Agency on Cancer Research
(IARC) identified silica dust as a known human carcinogen (Center). Due to this risk factor the federal
government regulates workers exposed to silica dust, but there are no limits set for the general public
(Wisconsin). This is a big

The Epidemic Of Childhood Obesity
The epidemic of childhood obesity Childhood obesity is an important issue because of this diseases
impact over the past few years. With the changing of lifestyles, the production of children who are not
as healthy as they should be has increased. Due to these results, a widespread of children being obese
has occurred. The Center for Disease Control, CDC, distinguishes between being overweight and
being obese. Overweight simply means that the weight is high compared to others in the same height
category. According to the CDC, obesity means an excessively high amount of body fat . . . in relation
to lean body mass (CDC). There are so many factors of childhood obesity. Some might say it s the
parent and some might say that it s from advertisements. Childhood obesity can be a combination of
factors scientific, genetic, cultural, or even environmental. The debate over childhood obesity and its
factors has been going on for decades. The CDC estimated that around one out of three children are
obese and the numbers are on the rise. Obesity affects around seventeen percent of children in the
United States. There are many other factors that can cause children to be obese like no exercise, eating
junk food, being lazy, also the child s surrounding can affect them. Some people may argue that the
lifestyle changes are bigger contributions to the rising number of childhood obesity. There are many
serious diseases that can a result from being obese. Although advertisements targeted

The End Of The Reconstruction
In the 1860 s there was an Era that started called the reconstruction. The main purpose for the
reconstruction was to give African American people full political and civil equality. However, it was
very tough to do this, especially since most white in the south didn t want the African Americans to
have the same rights as themselves. During this Era there were multiple good things that happened,
yet, there were also many bad things that happened. For instance, during the reconstruction the 14th
amendment was passed so the African American would get equal rights, but during the Era groups
such as Ku Klux Klan was created, also during this time the economic problems weren t solved. Since
the main point of the reconstruction was to make African Americans to gain equality, the 14th
amendment that was passed in 1868 was very positive. The 14th amendment was a very important
time during the reconstruction, since the amendment made it illegal to treat different races unequally.
However, although some people thought that the 14th amendment was going to make everything good
in the society, and that the African Americans would be treated fully equally wasn t completely
correct. For example, although the 14th amendment was passed, and made it illegal to treat different
races unequally, some people still did. Nevertheless, the African Americans did gain more rights than
they had before, and were treated more equally after the 14th amendment passed. Although the 14th

The UCL is crucial for valgus stability, maintaining the appropriate angle of the elbow away from the
body, of the elbow and is the primary elbow stabilizer. As stated in Haan et al. (2011), the AMCL is
divided in two functional components and is taut throughout the full range of flexion and extension
because the components are alternatively tightening throughout this range of motion. The posterior
part of the AMCL is taut from eighty degrees flexion to full flexion; in contrast, the anterior part of the
AMCL is taut in extension.

According to Kacprowicz (2017), in order to properly diagnose and treat any injury to the UCL, a
comprehensive understanding of the functional anatomy and biomechanics of the UCL in overhead
throwing sports is imperative. The anterior bundle of the UCL is particularly susceptible to injury. The
study by Awh (2010) reports that, These injuries are often associated with those of the flexor pronator
muscle tendon unit, a stabilizer at the medial elbow. Strains and/or fatigue of the dynamic stabilizers
may cause increased tears of the UCL. The posterior bundle of the UCL is not as vulnerable for injury
since it does not play a large role in the overhead throwing motion.
Acute tears of the anterior bundle of the UCL can be seen on high quality MR images. Edema,
abnormal laxity, and discontinuity of the ligament are all signs of UCL disruption. Partial tears can be
diagnosed with edema and focal areas of discontinuity with residual intact fibers. However, according
to Awh (2010), with complete tears, laxity is more apparent and edema and/or disorganized soft tissue
extend across the width of the anterior bundle. With proper inspection, one can identify both the site
and severity of UCL injury.
Langer et al. (2016) discusses that, despite excellent reported outcomes in the operative management
of UCL injuries in throwing athletes, debate remains over the

Access Controls And Access Control Security Essay
As the use of computers, databases, and technology in general, security has grown to be a powerful
tool that has to be used. The threat of outside sources intruding and exploiting crucial information is a
threat that is present on a daily basis. As a part of creating and implementing a security policy, a user
must consider access control. Access Control is a security tool that is used to control who can use or
gain access to the protected technology. Access control security includes two levels; logical and
physical. Though database intrusions can happen at any moment, access control provides another
security barrier that is needed. Access control has been in use before the growth of the technology
world. It could involve a simple action as locking a door. A person locks a door to prevent entry to
those who are not allowed or authorize to do so. The same can be said about the security involving
databases and the controlling of who can have access and what can be accessed. As far as database
security is concerned, there are various categories that are involved in access control. The four main
categories of access control include: Discretionary, Mandatory, Role based, and Rule based access
control. According to Rouse (2006), Computer databases typically contain aggregations of data
records or files, such as sales transactions, product catalogs and inventories, and customer profiles
(Rouse, 2006). Databases can hold a sufficient of information that are deemed valuable by

My Love Of Travel
For any person that went on vacations as a little kid, there will always be one that sticks out in their
mind. For me that vacation was a 2008 Disney cruise in the Bahamas. As a second grader getting to
miss school was a big deal. This vacation just happened to be during the last week of school that year.
I was incredibly excited to not only miss school but also get to go see a new place. In my family we
love to travel. I ve been in 3 countries and 14 or more states. This vacation was my start to all of these
places and sparked my love to see the world. One of the reasons this vacation influenced my love of
travel was that this was the first time I had been on a big plane. I love to fly places. Flying is a lot
faster than driving places and with two brothers that makes a huge difference.
On this vacation I visited one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, one of the British Virgin Islands, and Disney
s private island, Castaway Cay. Every day of the trip we were either at port on one of these islands or
spending our day on the boat on the way to one of these islands. When we were at port on any of the
islands we were given a time to be back then we were set free to get off of the boat and explore the
island at our own pace. We took a bus tour on one of the islands but on the others we got out and
visited some of the little shops or went to the beach for a day in the sand.
One of the memories that sticks out most to me was when my grandpa and I were standing in the
water at Magens

during the 1600s. Both groups help impressions of each other that influenced how they interacted
together. During the Native and French encounters in Black Robe, it was apparent that Natives viewed
the French as incompetent, weak, but also interesting; the French had their own impressions that the
Natives were savages and in need of salvation. It is with the Algonquins that one can see the interest
they held in their view of the French. In Black Robe, there is a scene with the Natives sitting in a
church like building watching a clock. The Algonquins were enticed with the mechanism and asked
the French questions about it. They were perplexed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From beginning to end, any mention of the Natives by the French was usually linked to the word
savages. This was shown in several scenes in the film. Towards the beginning, before Father Laforgue
and Daniel leave on the Hurons mission, two men are talking to one another about how they would not
go on such a mission with savages. Another example of this reference is near the end of the film when
Father Laforgue finds Father Jerome in the Huron village and even Father Jerome refers to the ailing
Natives as savages when speaking about them. Father Laforgue s mission in the film clearly represents
the French s view that Natives were in need of salvation. Father Laforgue s main goal throughout the
film was to convert or save the Natives (the Algonquins and Hurons) and have them believe in
Christianity. A great example of this is during the scene of Chomina s death. Even as he is dying,
Father Laforgue begs him to allow himself to be baptized and saved in order to attain Christian
paradise. Chomina s response to this no, because he says his family will not be there. Father Laforgue
does eventually achieve his mission to convert the Natives to Christianity in the Huron village at the
end of the film, but he does so with a different mindset after all he had been through with Daniel and

Ethanol and Gas Prices Essays
Ethanol and Gas Prices
Do the gas prices frustrate you every time you pull up to the pump? Gas companies are charging too
much for the natural resource that is turned into what we know as gasoline. Gas companies discourage
research and new ideas every year. Afraid of losing the market that they have cornered they buy
patents. This way the patents will never be used and they still have the market cornered. Ethanol is a
much safer and more economical solution to our gas problem. It is cleaner burning and it can be
produced from year to year. Ethanol will allow the United States public to get away from the
corruption of big gas business and finally be able to enjoy better prices at the pump. The gas

Ethanol is produced with the help of farmers. It comes from the common cash crop called corn. These
crops are grown throughout the United States and mainly in the Midwest. They can be produced every
year and hauled straight to the local plant. Using ethanol would help these struggling farmers. The
corn prices have been down for some time and the economic help from using ethanol would be
astronomical. Farmers would haul more corn each year because of the demand that the ethanol plant
brings. The demand for grain created by ethanol production increases net farm income more than $12
billion annually (ethanol info). In the future the demand for ethanol would be greater which would
produce a larger farm income each year. Ethanol could help the farmers more than anything else. The
raise in income would be dramatic because the use of ethanol today is only minimal and it produces
$12 billion in income each year. The more ethanol used the more the annual income it will produce.
This would cause the corn price to go up and more farmers would be able to stay in business. There
would be no more struggles with foreign nations to get better oil prices. The money that is spent on
the imports of oils from other countries will not be needed as much and hopefully in the future will not
be needed at all. This new and safe energy producer known as ethanol could be produced and
manufactured in the United States. Today, ethanol reduces the demand for gasoline

Issues Surrounding Narrative Design Essay
Narrative design is useful to the advancement of educational research because the stories collected
have the power to communicate key information otherwise not possible through other research
designs. Through stories it is possible to learn about personal account about classrooms, schools,
educational issues and the setting in which they work (Creswell, 2008, p. 511). Everyone has a story
to tell about incidents, events and experiences whether long or short that are useful in understanding
occurrences within a given context. With the information provided through storytelling, researchers
are then able to engage in the restorying process to gain a better perspective of the individual s story.
Yet despite its wonderful offerings, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a major concern to researchers, especially because they rely heavily on self reported
information from participants (Creswell, 2008, p. 522). Based on my personal experience, two
common reasons why people provide false data is to provide a happy conclusion, which makes people
comfortable, or to victimize because they seek attention. Fortunately, researchers may use several
techniques to address the issue of collecting false data. The techniques used include the collection of
multiple field texts, the triangulation of data, and member checking (Creswell, 2008). These
techniques are useful to review and assess the data collected through stories as false or reliable. On the
one hand, multiple field texts provide data from various sources, triangulation, and member checking
assist in confirming the data provided as well as the findings as per the interpretation of the researcher
(Creswell, 2008). Even though gathering stories poses a threat to the study, these techniques are useful
to the researcher as he or she ensures the validity of the research. The second issue in gathering stories
traces back to the concern of whether or not the participants are able to tell the real story (Creswell,
2008). At times, presenting the real story is dangerous to the participant because of the degree of detail
and information provided as part of the story. For example,

economics burdens they are currently incurring this is why it is important so they do not end up in the
worst situation where they cannot get money from the VC s, angels investors or investments banks

old plan and produce their own branded line True North Coffee. Under this plan they would have to
raise a lot more capital from angels and private investors. This approach would come with a lot of
obstacles such as higher costs, possibility of a lower valuation
One of the biggest barriers from GMCR s standpoint is that they realize they can possible build up
sales and marketing for the Keurig system once they start producing and endorsing the product. They

Analysis Of The Poem Ode Of A Nightingale By John Keats
Alaysia Murphy ENG 134 04 Prof. Palmioli 11/3/15 Explication for Ode to a Nightingale Literature
often reflects real life. The world of imagination is a euphoric release from the world of actuality but
paradoxically this world of imagination makes the world of actuality even more painful than what it is.
Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or mixture of pain/joy, intensity
of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal, and separation/connection. In
the poem Ode to a Nightingale written by John Keats, the poet seems to be praising the nightingale for
its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is revealed that he is actually using the nightingale
and its song as a means of escaping the realities of human life. This poem is about the intense feelings
the poet has about the transience about the nature of reality. Keats discovers the creativity of human
life and the morality throughout the poem. The poet is in search of the pure joy and ecstasy sung in the
nightingale s song which is completely unaware of the anguish and suffering of reality. The poet
believes that if he lives a life similar to that of the nightingale that he will be removed from all pain
and anguish. As the poem progresses the poet ponders different ways of joining the nightingale and
what he considers paradise. He comes to the conclusion that he cannot escape the realities of the
human world. Keats probably wrote this poem when he

This essay will compare and contrast the Biblical creation myths with other creation myths from
Greece and the Ancient Near East. It will first discuss the initial creation of the universe followed by
the creation of mankind and finally the recreation of man whilst drawing parallels to Sumerian and
Babylonian texts, The Old Testament and Hesiods Theogony. In paying particular attention to the
chronology of each myth it will be shown that the creation myths regarding the universe and mankind
evolved from as far back as the Sumerian stories.

Although there are echoes of Mesopotamian and Greek creation myths all through Genesis, especially
the order in which creation transpired, all three also represent the universe as a three tiered dome
including heaven, earth, and the underworld. However, the differences are also plentiful. Both the
Greeks and Sumerians/Babylonians believed in a polytheistic monarchy whereas the Israelites
(particularly after their exile from Babylon) adopted a non pagan retelling focusing on a single gods
omnipotence , however through much of Genesis 1:1 31 we find the LORD addressing another
presence; Let us make man in our likeliness . evidently their was some difficulty in the complete
abortion of a polytheistic belief system when evolving the new creation story.
The monotheistic creation of the universe is accomplished by separating each part into its place to
fulfill its function (for example; the moon and sun) whereas all polytheistic myths involve another
deity being created, usually through the union of two others, to represent the different parts of the
physical universe or in some cases, like the great Babylonian goddess Mammu Tiamat being split into
two to form the earth and the heavens, the god and the physical object created are one and the same .

Analysis Of Bruce Bairinsfather s One Of Those Balkan...
Bruce Bairinsfather s One of Those Balkan Muddles cartoon depicts a dejected soldier, profoundly
confused about his nationality and identity. The man does not seem to possess a clear ethnicity or
home country, thus neither does he possess a true citizenship. He is not specifically tied to any one
people, geographical area, or culture. The Empire was a confusing, heterogeneous mixture of several
ethnicities forced into a single citizenship and state. This caricature reflects a comedized reality for
many people living within the borders of the Austro Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War
One. As a real life example, the imperial census of the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1910 caused
problems when it asked subjects to state their identity. The official criterion was language spoken, yet
controversy raged when others argued for history, geography, anthropology and ethnography as the
key criteria. Divisively, Emperor Franz Joseph, at the head of a dynasty which was supposed to be
supra national, put himself down firmly as German on the census form . Bairinsfather s cartoon soldier
is the personification of Empire s lack of clear collective identity, and thus no true citizenship. This
issue will eventually lead to the dissolution of the Empire into several constituent states.
The epoch that the cartoon was drawn in was defined by the emergence of a central force in
geopolitics: The nation state. The force of nationalism, neither benevolent nor malevolent, surfaced as

Conflict in Daniel Ridgway Knight´s Paintings
Daniel Ridgway Knight was an odd American artist who loved to paint relaxed French peasants in
luscious landscapes. Ironically, he lived during a stressful time when the Industrial Revolution
displaced numerous farmers and polluted the environment. He seemed to ignore the harsh truth and
shut himself in his imaginary serene world. For instance, In the Premier Chagrin, translated as The
First Grief, Knight paints two healthy girls conversing on a stone wall in front of gorgeous fields. At
first, it appears as merely a pretty painting that is nicely contrasted to show depth and realism. Yet,
with a closer look, this contrast in the colors and lines of the landscape and the figures creates tension
to suggest the painter s conflict between longing for serene freedom and feeling trapped within the
stiff society. Though the viewers focus first on the centered figures, it is easier to first analyze the
surrounding settings to understand them. The stone wall foreground and the open fields of the
background each embodies one of the girl s thoughts. The back landscape is filled with warm, airy
colors of blue and orange, as if it were under a bright sun. On the other hand, the foreground s stone
walls and concrete floor has dark, cold, shadowy, earthy colors that seem to appear as if under a
stormy cloud. The sunny land suggests free, pure, spacious land previous to the industrialization. Yet,
the darkened foreground due to the overcasting shadows resemble the currently dirty,

Essay On Native American Tribal Music
Music is one of the most influential parts of cultures all over the world, but to the Native Americans it
is pivotal. Native American tribal music is a very important part of most Native Americans history,
culture, and societies.
Music is an extremely important role of Native American culture and history. Generally, it was one of
the only methods that they had as a way to pass down traditions and their history from generation to
generation. There wasn t very much documentation of their history until validation from English
settlers, other than some archeological evidence of musical instruments and depictions of music that
have been dated as far back as the 7th Century. There were typically two types of songs that the tribes
would pass down, and they would be either public songs or private songs. Public songs were often
historical, and could be retold into many different versions which often gave the songs different
meanings. But the private songs were unchanged through the history and kept those tribes
history/culture intact forever. There were primarily six different areas of music in the United States
where different tribes resided. The main characteristics of all of these diverse areas were that they
were based on singing and percussion. The vocalization of these tribes range from solos, chorales,
unison, and multipart singing. Percussion was also very common, and the use of drums and rattles
were used to keep a steady beat for singers. Flutes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Statement of Purpose to Become a Pediatrcian or an...
A Pediatrician and an optometrist are both professions that are needed in order to help people be
healthy. Both are a type of doctor and help the general public. The two require a good education and
require getting into a school that specializes in their field. When working, they make what is
considered a good amount of money. These aspects appeal to me because they are all qualities I can
see in my future. But each career has many aspects that differ from each other. A pediatrician
specializes in the care taking of children, while an optometrist is concerned with the human eyes. They
both require a different amount of education and make different amounts of money. For me, I do want
to work with kids, but helping people with their eyes really interests me. Though being a pediatrician
and an optometrist are both excellent careers, I prefer being an optometrist due to the education
requirements, general description, and the salary. Being a pediatrician requires a good education,
working with children and leaves the doctor with a high salary. The education for a pediatrician is very
similar to any type of doctor. It requires going to an undergraduate school for four years. After doing
this, one must have a Bachelor s degree in order to move forward. Then there are four more years of
medical school. After the degree is earned, a pediatrician has to go through at least three years of a
residency. If a pediatrician plans on going into a subspecialty, then it would take two more

The Sagrada Familia
The Temple [of The Sagrada Família] grows slowly, but this has always been the case with everything

These words, spoken by Antoni Gaudi about his life long work, Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada

The Physiological Effects of Pollutants Essay
Introduction
Contaminated groundwater that contains harmful chemicals as the result of agricultural pesticides and
human waste has long been known to negatively affect the environment. However the culminating
physiological effects of these chemicals may trigger a cascade of changes within the Alligator
mississippiensis (American Alligator) population, ultimately causing an ecological shift that is
contrary to the natural course of evolution. Chemicals called endocrine disruptors can affect bodily
functions in a variety of ways. By altering the body s hormonal balance on a chemical level, endocrine
disruptors can result in morphological changes to hormone dependent organs, which could in turn
significantly disrupt the animal s growth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1980, a chemical spill in the area nearly decimated the American Alligator population of Lake
Apopka and resulted in a multitude of negative effects years afterword from which the population has
not yet fully recovered (Arcand Hoy and Benson, 1998). This is primarily blamed on the long term
effects of endocrine disruptors that were introduced into the system. Either by mimicking natural
hormones and binding to hormone receptors, or by blocking the binding of natural hormones to
hormone receptors, endocrine disruptors are able to alter how natural hormones are produced and used
(Oberdorster and Cheek, 2011). Because hormones are responsible for maintaining many bodily
functions, changing hormonal concentrations will disturb the body s natural balance and produce
abnormal morphological changes to hormone dependent organs (Arcand Hoy and Benson, 1998).
Morphological Effects on Body Size
For example, thyroid hormones are necessary for proper development of the central nervous system
and skeletal systems. Therefore, changes in thyroid levels would produce morphological changes in
brain and bone tissue. In Lake Apopka, studies have proven that the greater the concentration of
thyroid hormone, the smaller the alligator s body size as a result of skeleton malformation. In contrast,
an increase in the concentration of steroid hormones has been proven to produce a larger body size
(Crain et al., 1998). In another hormonal study,

We Need a New Method of Purifying Drinking Water Essay
Chlorine has been purifying our drinking water for the last century. Chlorine has many uses; it is used
as an amazing water disinfectant to rid water of harmful organisms, it sanitizes many surfaces, and it
is used in the production of many products. Virtually all water borne diseases have been wiped out as
a result of purification of drinking water usually with chlorine. Life expectancy has increased fifty
percent in the last century because people are able to drink clean, healthy water. Two hundred million
people in America and Canada drink, shower and swim in chlorinated water everyday, and ninety

Finally, those who take the economic approach believe that chlorine might have some effect, yet the
expenditure of money and time to develop alternatives for all of chlorine s uses make it hard to
eliminate it from our society.
Studies have shown that it is not the chlorine that causes damage to our health, but rather chlorine s
byproducts. Dioxins, which are an unwanted byproduct of industrial production that uses chlorine, are
the most harmful human carcinogens studied (Thornton, 1997). When chlorine is added to our water
supply, it immediately kills many to all of the organisms living in the water. However, it also reacts
with any organic material in the water such as leaves, twigs, or dirt chemically producing byproducts
called trihalomethanes, or THMs. THMs consist of four chemicals: chloroform, bromoform,
bromodichloromethane and dibromochloromethane. Dibromochloromethane is already classified as a
possible known human carcinogen and has been proven to cause cancer in laboratory animals (Times

The US Council of Environmental Quality states that, [t]he cancer risk among people drinking

The Growing Critiques of MBA Programs
Recently critiques about MBA programs have increased in number. Many believe that management
education focuses on learning of managerial skills that are needed in current ever changing business
environment. Research conducted in the past suggested that individuals with a Master s degree in
Business Administration generally perform better in managerial positions than those who do not hold
an MBA degree (Baruch Peiperl, 2000). In a dissenting view however, the author noted that an MBA
qualification does not adequately equip students with both soft and hard skills which are needed for
effective management. In addition, Researchers argue that in management education, the soft skills are
ignored and the hard skills are emphasized.
Empirical studies (Boyatzis Renio, 1989) demonstrated that MBA programme has significant positive
effect on graduates managerial competencies but they contend that did not appear effective in
enhancing soft skills. In overall view, an assessment of how MBA graduates fared after attaining MBA
degree, led (Sturges, Simpson, Altman, 2003) to deduce that the graduates become more effective
managers who display self confidence, people management and team working skills. In their study on
the motivators of choosing a management course, Nyaribo, Prakash Owino, (2012), concluded that

heads, to the point were it shapes their thoughts and opinions. Such as the handkerchief given to
Desdemona by Othello, it is symbol of love and trust for Othello, and it going missing angers Othello.
Othello is also accused of using magic and witchcraft to win Desdemona, to which he says the same
story he used to woo Desdemona, and finishes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Othello states that words were his only witchcraft, while he thought he was joking that his words were
witchcraft, he was not exaggerating. He was accused based only on the fact that he was black. In the
article written by J.N. Smith he writes Othello is charged with using magic to woo Desdemona,
merely because he is black and therefore pagan . Yet Othello does have magic, in the words he uses
and the stories he tells. (Smith 1), his words perform magic on people, he has a silver tongue (just like
Iago, but uses it differently). This is not magic in the sense of tricks and gimmicks, but how his words
are so powerful he can bring the strongest down to their

  • 2. Patients Health Of Medical Marijuana Patients Health Utilizing Medical Marijuana Karen Mak Rutgers University Introduction to Research Methods, Fall 2016 Abstract The following study proposal would review the results of the overall health outcomes of patients who replaced pharmaceutical treatment with medical marijuana. The study will look at the improvements in meal consumption, Clinical Global Impression scores, Pittsburgh Agitation Scale, and the decrease in the symptom being monitored. The studies being reviewed research many conditions ranging from Alzheimer disease, dementia patients, dystonia, dyskinesias, and tics, and pain management. Many studies indicate that the results may vary, and the extent of its beneficial properties should be determined by the patients physician. It is hypothesized that the patients that are replacing pharmaceutical treatment with medical treatment will present positive results. One of the most popular treatments for medical problems is the prescription of pharmaceutical drugs. Many doctors prescribe this drug without considering natural or holistic remedies. There are many alternative solutions for many conditions, like diet, exercise, or therapy, yet doctors are still quick to write out a prescription for pharmaceutical drugs for their patients. Pharmaceutical drugs can be very dangerous and extremely harmful in any dosing or potency. Many doctors over prescribe this drug, leading to addiction and even toxicity. One very popular ... • 3. Antony Flew on Christian Life People always tend to give high attention to individuals who turned their backs on their once held beliefs to argue that (Christian) faith is unreasonable and without real substance. Rationality seems to be the source of every argument for the non existence of God, and is often understood as inherently opposing to faith. However, the story of Antony Flew is one that atheists can and should not discard, as he experienced something very different. Born into a Christian family Flew grew up in the church and was exposed to Christian beliefs and customs. He never really found a personal connection to Christianity and converted to Atheism, but after decades of arguing the non existence of God, he came to the conclusion that there is no other possibility than the validity of the existence of God. This process is documented in There is a God. Antony Flew is considered one of the, some might argue the most important, proponents of atheism in the 20th century and his works made major contributions to the argumentation of atheism. The author begins his personal story, some might call it testimony, with explaining the process of becoming an atheist in the first place, before rejecting it after all these years. Born as the son of a Methodist minister and preacher, Flew went to a Christian school, and was, as he calls himself, a committed and conscientious, if unenthusiastic, Christian (p.10). He did not feel a personal connection to God and was not interested in any kind of worship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Rice Wheat Farming System THE ADAPTATION OF RICE WHEAT FARMING SYSTEM TO THE AGRO ECOSYSTEMS AND WEATHER Rice wheat farming system: The Indo Gangetic plain (IGP) of south Asia is formed by the sedimentation of alluvial soil by the Indus and the Ganges rivers. The large fertile plain with flowing rivers favours agriculture. The rice wheat farming system in the Indo Gangetic plain occupies 13.5 M ha of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal (Timsina and Connor, 2001). In India, the rice wheat farming system is the major source of food security as it produces more than 50% of cereal in 10 M ha (Ladha et al., 2000). Rice wheat farming system formation: Formerly, the majorly cultivated crop in North Indus and Eastern Indus were wheat and rice respectively (Ladha et al., 2000). The adaptation and expansion of Rice Wheat farming system occurred in India with the development of short duration varieties of rice and wheat during the Green Revolution (Timsina et al., 2001). The allied farming activity is livestock rearing in IGP. The livestock comprises 10% livelihood of rice wheat based small farm holders in Indo Gangetic plain (Erenstein et al., 2007) with an average 3.6 cow/household (Erenstein and Thorpe, 2010, cited in Erenstein 2011) . Agro ecological conditions: NW Indo Gangetic plain has extreme hot and cold climate whereas the climate is mild in the east. The continental monsoon type of climate, warm wet summers and dry cool winters, favours the rotational cultivation of rice and wheat (Dixon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Grand Impact Of Public Bullying By Cyberbullying The grand impact of public humiliation brought on by cyberbullying, and those using this for a financial gain. With just one click someone s personal reputation can be shattered instantaneously. For some people the public humiliation had been unbearable, and tragically take the lives. Lewinsky believes we need a shift to a long held value of compassion and empathy that we now lack. I agree with this argument. For the first time cyberbullying is leading to suicidal ideations. The invasion of others privacy has emerged a marketplace for public humiliation. The responsibilities that come with our freedom of expression. I will now discuss my evidence. For the first time cyberbullying has led to suicidal ideations as a meta analysis done out of the Netherlands shows sadly more than offline bullying. Lewinsky stated Cruelty to others is nothing new, but online, technologically enhanced shaming is amplified, uncontained, and permanently accessible. What Lewinsky is stating with this that we have always had public humiliation however not to the degree that we do now with social media. Things would happen and it would be shameful, however once people forgot about it that was the end of it. Now with social media scandals take on a whole new prospective, and unfortunately it is not always in a positive way. • 6. How Can You Ensure That You Are Giving Learners The Best... How can you ensure that you are giving learners the best chance to understand a text? Provide a (listening or reading) text and show how you would teach a lesson with this in mind, justifying each of the stage of the lesson. Listening is the ability to identify and understand what others are saying. This involves understanding a speaker s accent or pronunciation, his grammar and his vocabulary, and grasping his meaning (Howatt and Dakin). An able listener is capable of doing these four things together. During the listening students hear different accents and types. When students listen or read they process the information they hear both top down and bottom up. Top down means using our prior knowledge and experiences; we know certain things about certain topics or situations and use that information to understand. Bottom up processing means using the information we have about the sounds, word meanings discourse markers like first, then, and after that to set up our understanding what we read or hear one step at a time. In order to improve students listening comprehension they should use their prior knowledge. In a typical reading lesson there are pre activities, while activities, and post activities. In reading learners can skim a text quickly to get a good idea what it s about, but listeners cannot skim. In listening lesson also has pre , while and post listening tasks. Each of these tasks is very important in order to ensure that the students understand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Blonde Stereotypes Research Paper There are many stereotypes in our world, and we often can find them in the form of what is called blond jokes . It is a well known fact that these jokes ridicule and stereotype all blond haired people. Though some people find them hysterical, blonde jokes are actually very damaging to the well being of blonds all over the world. These jokes often portray blondes as being dim witted, and they display them as being sexually promiscuous. People often view blonde jokes as being very sexist because although there are sometimes variations of blonde males, the majority of the blondes portrayed in the jokes are females. However could stereotyping have both short term and lasting effects of those who are stereotyped? According to Michael Inzlicht, Even after a person leaves a situation where they faced negative stereotypes, the effects with coping with that situation remain. It has been scientifically proven through tests that one of the lasting effects of stereotyping is that the level of aggression in a person rises and they tend to have a shorter temper. It is widely believed that frequent use of a certain stereotype can and probably will result in the stereotype becoming true about a certain type of person or race. This is probably because of the fact that a person wants to conform to how society perceives them or how society want them to be. Therefore, stereotypes lower one s self confidence they need to have in order to get through the day, which in turn could result in effects even more serious or hazardous. Stereotyping and labeling further lead us to performing discriminatory actions. We have become so accustomed to labeling and putting people into groups that we do it all the time without having to think about it. We also tend to treat people with less respect if they are, for example. less pretty, short or even overweight. It is a part the social injustice that people are treated with less equality and respect because of our varying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He tells the story in a poem in a sequential order from being in the hospital, being in the car with her dead body and finally in the cemetery burying her. In the hospital we can see that he remembers that the nurse could only speak in Italian. We also see that, he kind of knew that his mom was going to die because he says that there is only a week left of her existence. By thinking about all this Robert Lowell starts to tear and I guess does cry. When he gets his mother s casket in the car he gets very descriptive by saying, the whole shoreline of the ... When Robert says recent you can guess that it wasn t long ago that his father had past away. When Robert said unhistoric is seemed as if him and his dad weren t close at all. His dad was some sort of business man who basically or I can tell never had time to spend with his son. Even on the father s grave it said Occasionem cognosce, which means, recognize (your) opportunity, this seemed like he even died during a business deal or something. The engravement on his grave seemed like he was selling something, unlike other s whose graves say Rest In Peace or something better. The engravement also felt as if he was on a commercial you know. Colney and Pitts are planning to set up a manufacturing plant near the Aberdares mountain range in the eastern highlands of Kenya. Their main purpose is to use this facility to manufacture medications for prostate cancer. Located in the Aberdares Mountain is a native tribe called The Kikuyu. After much research and extensive surveying of the area, it was determined that a type of evergreen tree known as pygeum or prunus Africana, is used by the tribes people to cure what they refer to as old men s disease . Unfortunately, many African governments are known for being unfair and uncivilized, and even corrupt, so how are we to know that they Kiyuku tribe would ever see any of the money or other benefits they are being offered? What is to say they don t keep the money for themselves and give away the housing and medical to other civilians in the country and not the tribe people? Many people are lead to wonder if the tribal leaders are fully aware of the ramifications tied to the plans that Colney and Pitts are offering them. For thousands of years this tribe has thrived in this land, without the need for money, doctor training, permanent housing. One thing is perfectly career with regards to the Kiyuku and its people, they have been surviving without the modern technology in medicine, without machine driven construction of their homes and without farm hands and tractors to grow their food. What Is Delormier Giddens Theory Of Structuration Introduction: Delormier, Frohlich, Potvin, (2009) used Giddens theory of structuration, specifically the concepts of social practice, the duality of the social structure, and agency to develop a conceptual framework in their research on food as a social practice. According to Giddens (1984) social practices are at the root of the constitution of both agent and society (ibid.: 1984:xxii); and social structures constitute rules and resources which actors draw upon during practice, creating both enabling and constraining conditions of practice (ibid.: 1984: xxii, 25). It is from this perspective that Delormier, Frohlich and Potvin (2009) highlight that individual action is not determined by the social structure, but rather enacted and concretised by people through the choices they make during social practice, and that through their ... The Driftless area, unlike the rest of the Mid West, escaped the terrain smoothing, mineral depositing influences of the ice sheets during the glacial period (Jefferson, 2010). The bedrock contains limestone, sandstone and shale, and is exposed or near the surface making it popular for sand mining. About 95 present of the frac sand mining in the United State is done here. This material is often stockpiled separately on the site for use during mine reclamation (Wisconsin). Unfortunately the wild life is displaced, bird migration is interrupted and the vegetation is destroyed. The Driftless area has a lot of plants that are unique to this area only. Explosives are then used to break the bedrock apart. The unwanted rock such as the limestone and shale are stock piled to be used later for the reclamation process. Excavation equipment and dump trucks bring the sandstone to the crusher that is located on the mining site. The crusher breaks the sandstone chunks into individual sand grains. The sand has to be filtered to remove the smaller grains of sand that are not acceptable for fracking. The entire process causes a release of silica dust. Inhaling silica dust can lead to serious, sometimes fatal illnesses including silicosis, lung cancer, tuberculosis (in those with silicosis), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Silica exposure has also been linked to renal disease and other cancers. In 1996, the World Health Organization International Agency on Cancer Research (IARC) identified silica dust as a known human carcinogen (Center). The main purpose for the reconstruction was to give African American people full political and civil equality. However, it was very tough to do this, especially since most white in the south didn t want the African Americans to have the same rights as themselves. During this Era there were multiple good things that happened, yet, there were also many bad things that happened. For instance, during the reconstruction the 14th amendment was passed so the African American would get equal rights, but during the Era groups such as Ku Klux Klan was created, also during this time the economic problems weren t solved. Since the main point of the reconstruction was to make African Americans to gain equality, the 14th amendment that was passed in 1868 was very positive. The 14th amendment was a very important time during the reconstruction, since the amendment made it illegal to treat different races unequally. However, although some people thought that the 14th amendment was going to make everything good in the society, and that the African Americans would be treated fully equally wasn t completely correct. For example, although the 14th amendment was passed, and made it illegal to treat different races unequally, some people still did. According to Kacprowicz (2017), in order to properly diagnose and treat any injury to the UCL, a comprehensive understanding of the functional anatomy and biomechanics of the UCL in overhead throwing sports is imperative. The anterior bundle of the UCL is particularly susceptible to injury. The study by Awh (2010) reports that, These injuries are often associated with those of the flexor pronator muscle tendon unit, a stabilizer at the medial elbow. Strains and/or fatigue of the dynamic stabilizers may cause increased tears of the UCL. The posterior bundle of the UCL is not as vulnerable for injury since it does not play a large role in the overhead throwing motion. Acute tears of the anterior bundle of the UCL can be seen on high quality MR images. Edema, abnormal laxity, and discontinuity of the ligament are all signs of UCL disruption. Partial tears can be diagnosed with edema and focal areas of discontinuity with residual intact fibers. However, according to Awh (2010), with complete tears, laxity is more apparent and edema and/or disorganized soft tissue extend across the width of the anterior bundle. With proper inspection, one can identify both the site and severity of UCL injury. Langer et al. (2016) discusses that, despite excellent reported outcomes in the operative management of UCL injuries in throwing athletes, debate remains over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Access Controls And Access Control Security Essay As the use of computers, databases, and technology in general, security has grown to be a powerful tool that has to be used. The threat of outside sources intruding and exploiting crucial information is a threat that is present on a daily basis. As a part of creating and implementing a security policy, a user must consider access control. Access Control is a security tool that is used to control who can use or gain access to the protected technology. Access control security includes two levels; logical and physical. Though database intrusions can happen at any moment, access control provides another security barrier that is needed. Access control has been in use before the growth of the technology world. It could involve a simple action as locking a door. A person locks a door to prevent entry to those who are not allowed or authorize to do so. The same can be said about the security involving databases and the controlling of who can have access and what can be accessed. As far as database security is concerned, there are various categories that are involved in access control. The four main categories of access control include: Discretionary, Mandatory, Role based, and Rule based access control. I was incredibly excited to not only miss school but also get to go see a new place. In my family we love to travel. I ve been in 3 countries and 14 or more states. This vacation was my start to all of these places and sparked my love to see the world. One of the reasons this vacation influenced my love of travel was that this was the first time I had been on a big plane. I love to fly places. Flying is a lot faster than driving places and with two brothers that makes a huge difference. On this vacation I visited one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, one of the British Virgin Islands, and Disney s private island, Castaway Cay. Every day of the trip we were either at port on one of these islands or spending our day on the boat on the way to one of these islands. When we were at port on any of the islands we were given a time to be back then we were set free to get off of the boat and explore the island at our own pace. Another example of this reference is near the end of the film when Father Laforgue finds Father Jerome in the Huron village and even Father Jerome refers to the ailing Natives as savages when speaking about them. Father Laforgue s mission in the film clearly represents the French s view that Natives were in need of salvation. Father Laforgue s main goal throughout the film was to convert or save the Natives (the Algonquins and Hurons) and have them believe in Christianity. Based on my personal experience, two common reasons why people provide false data is to provide a happy conclusion, which makes people comfortable, or to victimize because they seek attention. Fortunately, researchers may use several techniques to address the issue of collecting false data. The techniques used include the collection of multiple field texts, the triangulation of data, and member checking (Creswell, 2008). These techniques are useful to review and assess the data collected through stories as false or reliable. On the one hand, multiple field texts provide data from various sources, triangulation, and member checking assist in confirming the data provided as well as the findings as per the interpretation of the researcher (Creswell, 2008). Even though gathering stories poses a threat to the study, these techniques are useful to the researcher as he or she ensures the validity of the research. The second issue in gathering stories traces back to the concern of whether or not the participants are able to tell the real story (Creswell, 2008). The world of imagination is a euphoric release from the world of actuality but paradoxically this world of imagination makes the world of actuality even more painful than what it is. Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or mixture of pain/joy, intensity of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal, and separation/connection. In the poem Ode to a Nightingale written by John Keats, the poet seems to be praising the nightingale for its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is revealed that he is actually using the nightingale and its song as a means of escaping the realities of human life. This poem is about the intense feelings the poet has about the transience about the nature of reality. Keats discovers the creativity of human life and the morality throughout the poem. The poet is in search of the pure joy and ecstasy sung in the nightingale s song which is completely unaware of the anguish and suffering of reality. The poet believes that if he lives a life similar to that of the nightingale that he will be removed from all pain and anguish. As the poem progresses the poet ponders different ways of joining the nightingale and what he considers paradise. He comes to the conclusion that he cannot escape the realities of the human world. Ironically, he lived during a stressful time when the Industrial Revolution displaced numerous farmers and polluted the environment. For instance, In the Premier Chagrin, translated as The First Grief, Knight paints two healthy girls conversing on a stone wall in front of gorgeous fields. At first, it appears as merely a pretty painting that is nicely contrasted to show depth and realism. Yet, with a closer look, this contrast in the colors and lines of the landscape and the figures creates tension to suggest the painter s conflict between longing for serene freedom and feeling trapped within the stiff society. Though the viewers focus first on the centered figures, it is easier to first analyze the surrounding settings to understand them. Native American tribal music is a very important part of most Native Americans history, culture, and societies. Music is an extremely important role of Native American culture and history. Generally, it was one of the only methods that they had as a way to pass down traditions and their history from generation to generation. There wasn t very much documentation of their history until validation from English settlers, other than some archeological evidence of musical instruments and depictions of music that have been dated as far back as the 7th Century. There were typically two types of songs that the tribes would pass down, and they would be either public songs or private songs. Public songs were often historical, and could be retold into many different versions which often gave the songs different meanings. But the private songs were unchanged through the history and kept those tribes history/culture intact forever. • 33. Statement of Purpose to Become a Pediatrcian or an... A Pediatrician and an optometrist are both professions that are needed in order to help people be healthy. Both are a type of doctor and help the general public. The two require a good education and require getting into a school that specializes in their field. When working, they make what is considered a good amount of money. These aspects appeal to me because they are all qualities I can see in my future. But each career has many aspects that differ from each other. A pediatrician specializes in the care taking of children, while an optometrist is concerned with the human eyes. They both require a different amount of education and make different amounts of money. For me, I do want to work with kids, but helping people with their eyes really interests me. Though being a pediatrician and an optometrist are both excellent careers, I prefer being an optometrist due to the education requirements, general description, and the salary. Being a pediatrician requires a good education, working with children and leaves the doctor with a high salary. The education for a pediatrician is very similar to any type of doctor. It requires going to an undergraduate school for four years. After doing this, one must have a Bachelor s degree in order to move forward. Then there are four more years of medical school. After the degree is earned, a pediatrician has to go through at least three years of a residency. If a pediatrician plans on going into a subspecialty, then it would take two more ... • 34. The Sagrada Familia The Temple [of The Sagrada Família] grows slowly, but this has always been the case with everything destined to have a long life. Hundred year old oak trees take many years to grow tall; on the other hand, reeds grow quickly, but in autumn the wind knocks them down and there is no more to be said 1. These words, spoken by Antoni Gaudi about his life long work, Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, are a means to justify the extremely long time needed for the construction of the Sagrada Família, while referencing the themes and structural concepts he borrowed from nature in his designs. While this logical explanation may give comfort to some, others doubt the temple s eventual completion, as its construction has just passed 123 years, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the first stone was inscribed the words, Awaken indifferent hearts from their slumber. Exalt the faith. Promote charity. Invoke the Lord to have mercy on this country, and encourage by its Catholic roots to think, preach and practice virtue. 1 The first architect of the project, Francisco de Paula de Villar, originally designed the temple as a purely neo gothic structure. Less than a year into the project, the budget again played a role in the future of the Sagrada Família, but this time it was clearly a change for the better. Del Villar wanted to use ashlar columns in his design, a technique far more expensive than building up the interior with rubblework, than covering them with ashlar. This started arguments with the Foundation, who criticized De Villar for spending too much unnecessary money on the project. De Villar resigned because he was not happy that his plans were not being followed, and the foundation chose 31 year old architect Antoni Gaudi as successor. Although the Foundation and Gaudi were equally excited to be working together on this project, neither party had any idea just how magnificent of a masterpiece they were destined to create. • 35. The Physiological Effects of Pollutants Essay Introduction Contaminated groundwater that contains harmful chemicals as the result of agricultural pesticides and human waste has long been known to negatively affect the environment. However the culminating physiological effects of these chemicals may trigger a cascade of changes within the Alligator mississippiensis (American Alligator) population, ultimately causing an ecological shift that is contrary to the natural course of evolution. Chemicals called endocrine disruptors can affect bodily functions in a variety of ways. By altering the body s hormonal balance on a chemical level, endocrine disruptors can result in morphological changes to hormone dependent organs, which could in turn significantly disrupt the animal s growth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1980, a chemical spill in the area nearly decimated the American Alligator population of Lake Apopka and resulted in a multitude of negative effects years afterword from which the population has not yet fully recovered (Arcand Hoy and Benson, 1998). This is primarily blamed on the long term effects of endocrine disruptors that were introduced into the system. Either by mimicking natural hormones and binding to hormone receptors, or by blocking the binding of natural hormones to hormone receptors, endocrine disruptors are able to alter how natural hormones are produced and used (Oberdorster and Cheek, 2011). Because hormones are responsible for maintaining many bodily functions, changing hormonal concentrations will disturb the body s natural balance and produce abnormal morphological changes to hormone dependent organs (Arcand Hoy and Benson, 1998). Morphological Effects on Body Size For example, thyroid hormones are necessary for proper development of the central nervous system and skeletal systems. Therefore, changes in thyroid levels would produce morphological changes in brain and bone tissue. In Lake Apopka, studies have proven that the greater the concentration of thyroid hormone, the smaller the alligator s body size as a result of skeleton malformation. In contrast, an increase in the concentration of steroid hormones has been proven to produce a larger body size (Crain et al., 1998). In another hormonal study, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. We Need a New Method of Purifying Drinking Water Essay Chlorine has been purifying our drinking water for the last century. Chlorine has many uses; it is used as an amazing water disinfectant to rid water of harmful organisms, it sanitizes many surfaces, and it is used in the production of many products. Virtually all water borne diseases have been wiped out as a result of purification of drinking water usually with chlorine. Life expectancy has increased fifty percent in the last century because people are able to drink clean, healthy water. Two hundred million people in America and Canada drink, shower and swim in chlorinated water everyday, and ninety eight percent of drinking water treatment facilities use chlorination (Christman, 1998). Chlorine has benefited society in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, those who take the economic approach believe that chlorine might have some effect, yet the expenditure of money and time to develop alternatives for all of chlorine s uses make it hard to eliminate it from our society. Studies have shown that it is not the chlorine that causes damage to our health, but rather chlorine s byproducts. Dioxins, which are an unwanted byproduct of industrial production that uses chlorine, are the most harmful human carcinogens studied (Thornton, 1997). When chlorine is added to our water supply, it immediately kills many to all of the organisms living in the water. However, it also reacts with any organic material in the water such as leaves, twigs, or dirt chemically producing byproducts called trihalomethanes, or THMs. THMs consist of four chemicals: chloroform, bromoform, bromodichloromethane and dibromochloromethane. Dibromochloromethane is already classified as a possible known human carcinogen and has been proven to cause cancer in laboratory animals (Times Union, 1996). The US Council of Environmental Quality states that, [t]he cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine (Showering in Tap Water, 2001). • 38. The Growing Critiques of MBA Programs Recently critiques about MBA programs have increased in number. Many believe that management education focuses on learning of managerial skills that are needed in current ever changing business environment. Research conducted in the past suggested that individuals with a Master s degree in Business Administration generally perform better in managerial positions than those who do not hold an MBA degree (Baruch Peiperl, 2000). In a dissenting view however, the author noted that an MBA qualification does not adequately equip students with both soft and hard skills which are needed for effective management. In addition, Researchers argue that in management education, the soft skills are ignored and the hard skills are emphasized. Empirical studies (Boyatzis Renio, 1989) demonstrated that MBA programme has significant positive effect on graduates managerial competencies but they contend that did not appear effective in enhancing soft skills. In overall view, an assessment of how MBA graduates fared after attaining MBA degree, led (Sturges, Simpson, Altman, 2003) to deduce that the graduates become more effective managers who display self confidence, people management and team working skills. In their study on the motivators of choosing a management course, Nyaribo, Prakash Owino, (2012), concluded that MBA education should combine explicit knowledge of the basic disciplines with the tacit knowledge that comes from practice in order to provide MBA graduates with a ... Profound Duplicity Exhibited by Jekyll as a Reflection of the Victorian Way of Life The Victorian society was filled with many divisions. It consisted of two extremes, the very wealthy and intense poverty. It was these divisions that contributed to the causes behind the life of Henry Jekyll to be split between the two. However, there are many other reasons as to why Jekyll wanted the best of both worlds. Within the Victorian period, there were many successes, including inventions such as the first public railway link between the coal mines of Darlington and the port of Stockton; this was built by an engineer named George Stevenson. Also was the improvements in people s health, this was due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the rich society they were conscious of their reputation, family mattered and they should have always kept a professional status, because of this idleness was most certainly a sin. Despite this it was often found that men throughout the rich, paid for prostitutes, this is just one of the examples of leading a double life. The wealthy men of Victorian times were looked upon as good family people, and had a profession in which they could always provide for their families. They would not have been able to take part in sins such as prostitutes in wealthy areas for instance Regents Park, and so would have to go elsewhere, this means starting a different life, this being the main theme of The Strange Case of Henry Jekyll and Mr Hyde , duplicity. Robert Louis Stevenson s life itself reflects the idea of duplicity in his novel. He grew up in a Calvinistic household, his parents being strict, in both their home and religion. It controls all of them and depicts or changes their thoughts and actions. In the play Othello written by William Shakespeare, magic plays a major role in how the characters think and act, often in ways unusual ways. Magic is not the kind you see in movies, but the kind that is built up in their heads, to the point were it shapes their thoughts and opinions. Such as the handkerchief given to Desdemona by Othello, it is symbol of love and trust for Othello, and it going missing angers Othello.
