Questionnaire
Chapter 5 QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN AND SCALE DEVELOPMENT
Naresh K. Malhotra, Georgia Institute of Technology
Introduction
This chapter describes the importance of a questionnaire and presents the process for developing
questionnaires and observational forms. Guidelines for questionnaire construction are provided at
each stage of the process. In addition, commonly used scaling techniques and use of questionnaires
in experimentation are discussed and the design of observational forms is presented.1
What Is a Questionnaire?
A questionnaire is a formalized set of questions for obtaining information from respondents. The
overriding objective is to translate the researcher s information needs into a set of specific questions
that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are exceptions to this rule. Filler questions may be added to disguise the purpose or
sponsorship of the project. For example, in brand studies, a researcher may include questions about
the full range of competing brands so that the respondents won t know who is sponsoring the study.
Early in the interviewing process when the researcher is attempting to build a relationship with
respondents and capture their attention, a few easy to answer neutral questions may be helpful. At
times, certain questions may also be repeated for the purpose of assessing reliability or validity.
Are Several Questions Needed Instead of One?
In some cases, two questions are better than one. However, asking two questions in one is not the
solution. Consider the following question:
Do you think JC Penney offers better variety and prices than other department stores stores?
(Incorrect)
A yes answer will presumably be clear, but what if the answer is no ? Does this mean that the
respondent thinks that JC Penney does not offer better variety, that it does not offer better prices,
or that it neither offers better variety nor better prices? Such a question is called a doublebarreled
question because two or more questions are combined into one. To avoid confusion, these questions
should be asked separately,

The Effects Of Cyber Attacks On The Public Health
In the last decade there has been an almost exponential increase in the number, complexity and
sophistication of malicious software. The rate of occurrence of cyber attacks, the lighting fast speed
of dissemination, and the economic impact requires same level of attention and response as a
pandemic health crisis.
The technical solutions are addressing these serious concerns on the technological side but they do
little to reduce or eliminate cyber attacks from occurring in the first place. Also, they are more
likely to be viewed as fun challenges or opportunities to showcase cybercriminals technical skills.
Lastly, the enormous potential for financial gain from cybercrime and relative little legislature
regulations on a global scale, represents a very attractive opportunity for unscrupulous individuals.
The public health professionals have been very successful in implementing public health models to
prevent and combat disease spreading. As a result, many health indicators have improved
drastically: child mortality, maternal health, eradication or sizable reduction of a large number of
infectious diseases, etc.
The public health models are categorized in the three levels of action: primary preventions,
secondary prevention and tertiary prevention. Primary prevention focuses on the prevention or
inhibition of the risk factors for the population at risk. Secondary prevention focuses on the actions
taken to slow down the progress of the disease after the onset. Tertiary

By increasing the number of observers in the study/field activities, this approach allows a greater

Disadvantages of participatory monitoring (Ancrenaz et al. 2012):
It requires time to initiate a strong capacity building process over a long and continuous period of
time As monitoring is difficult to standardize completely, participatory monitoring is often less
accurate and results can be difficult to compare. Fortunately, camera trapping is can be standardized
more easily than many other monitoring methods. Pragmatically, local communities need to be
involved at all phases of a project (design, planning and implementation) to achieve significant
results (Borrini‐Feyerabend et al., 2004; Berkes, 2004; Ancrenaz et al., 2007).
Some crucial factors that will determine the success or failure of a monitoring program will include

The Persian or Achaemenid force was an essential part of the extension of the Persian Empire. The
Persian army is said to be 3,000,000 warriors strong, with 2,641,610 soldiers,70,000 infantry,9,000

The Immortals:
The Immortals were an elite regiment of handpicked men trained from childhood into elite
warriors. They were imperial guards of the Achaemenid Sahs. Achaemenid brick reliefs in
Persepolis represent the Immortals as wearing elaborate robes and golden jewellery, although these
garments would have only been worn for ceremonial occasions as they would be impractical in
warfare. Cyrus the Great was the founder of the Immortals. During Cyrus s conquests, 10,000 of his
finest troops were gathered together to create a new regiment the Immortals. These were all Iranian
men who loyally served the King to their death. Only Iranians could join the Immortal regiment.

Data Analysis Processing And Analysis
Data Analysis Processing and Analysis To test the hypothesis that national board certification
(primary independent variable) has an effect on reading scores and reading levels (dependent
variable); an ordinal regression analysis was applied using R for statistical analysis and coding
of data. The ordinal regression was used to rank the predictor variables; A. Certification and
Years of Experience, B. Advance degree and Years of Experience, and C. Certification and
Advance Degree. In addition, reading levels were ranked from the lowest reading text level to
the highest text level. The reading scores were collected from national board certified and non
national board certified teachers. The data collected included the beginning of year and end of
year reading scores. The dependent variable reading score is likely dependent on more than just
board certification. Predictor variables, including advanced degrees and years of service included
in the regression to give a more robust picture of the actual effect of board certification has on
reading scores (McClendon, 1994). The researcher displayed data results of advanced degree and
national board effects in a 2x2 contingency table. The table analysis was utilized to reveal the
independence and dependence between the variables. The dispersion of the data occurred in the
final stage of the analysis known as the inferential statistical phase. At this point the researcher
determined whether a significant correlation exists

He could not sleep, He could not eat, He could not even drink. He prayed to the gods to save his
love Alia. The next morning the guards from the castle came to get him, to watch Alia be killed
by her own father. He didn t talk. When they arrived to the castle, they took him to the
punishment room and had his hands and feet chained, so he couldn t try and get up to save Alia.
They also chained his neck so tight he was forced to look down at her. When he would close his
eyes they would stab him in the hand. Finally some guards brought Alia onto the floor. She was
wearing a long, white, flowy dress. Her father walked in holding a sword. He stood over her.
Alia was brave, she didn t cry, didn t speak, didn t move, just waited for her death to come. The
king held the sword in the air and started to bring it down when a ram, with golden fleece,
charger into him, and knocked him down. The ram had been sent by Zeus, who heard Pollo s
prayers. The ram tore the chains off of Alia with his horns and threw her onto his back. The ram
then ran to Pollo and knocked down all of the guards surrounding him. He again tore off the
chains using his horns and Pollo jumped onto the rams back behind Alia. She looked behind her
shoulder and stared into his eyes. They hugged and she started weeping. He held onto her as the
ram ran out of the castle. He took them to a distant land where they lived normal, happy lives.

Essay Analysis of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Analysis of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens, the revolutionary 19th century novelist, wrote a bildungsroman of Phillip Pirrip
(Pip) and the reality of his own Great
Expectations in his pursuit to become a gentleman. In Chapter 8, the reader is introduced to Miss
Havisham and Estella and this is where
Pip first becomes dissatisfied with the life at the forge.
There were many writers in Dickens day whose works are no longer read; this is possibly because
Dickens did something idiosyncratically different from his contemporaries. The plot of Great
Expectations is quite complex, yet it is the way that Dickens handles the various elements of the
plot that makes the novel appealing. For instance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By introducing this character, the questions of why she is withdrawn and how this is related to the
subplot concerning the convicts are left unanswered. It is not until during Chapters 40 42 that the
reader finds out about Miss Havisham s connection with the convicts. Dickens is deliberately vague
about Miss Havisham s past. This allows him later to introduce the idea that she might be Pip s
benefactor.
From the first point of contact Dickens is creating twists and turns later in the novel.
The eccentricity and eeriness of Miss Havisham fascinates the reader, as she is one of fiction s
strangest (Ch. 8 p. 46) women. Questions are posed in this chapter about the connection between
her and Estella and why is she wearing bridal dress (Ch. 8 p. 50). The reader may assume several
reasons but their innate inquisitiveness helps propel the novel forward.
This device is used because of the structure of the novel. It was originally printed in weekly
instalments. This means that Great
Expectations does not have the structure of a conventional novel.
Instead of moving towards a general climax, the story has many mini resolutions of the plot. Each
new episode needed a cliffhanger type ending in order to ensure that the public would buy the next
instalment. This has often been seen as a weakness of Charles
Dickens novels as the story can become repetitive. An advantage of this is that the original reader,
if having missed an issue, can have

Commodity In Karl Marx s Substranged Labor
In the first chapter of Capital, Commodities Karl Marx introduces to his readers the relationships
between things and human beings. He defined commodity as a material or a product as a way to
understand how value works. His thing was to get his readers more involve in understanding that
the labor of time is necessary to produce the commodity. He uses bottles and pencils as an
example to explain commodities. According to Marx when embodied labor time is measurable, it
makes the creation of relative value possible. This only happen when the material existence of
things is put out of sight in the market, but the value itself become an abstraction. The term use

to impose the norm this is when the disciplining of bodies comes to place. Marx argument of the
relationships between things are only possible through the relationships between human beings,
which means that capitalist mode of production can only make it look like it s the other way
around, with the relationships between things can also makes the relationship between people
possible. What Marx was trying to do was to emphasize the reversal and the existing of reality in

the object of a secondary to the worker s needs, meaning that the poorer they are the more riches

which a worker is supposed to serve and products labor. The more the worker works, the more

Michelangelo s Influence On The Development Of Western Art
Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer. His most
well known technique was fresco. He had a major influence on the development of western art.
He also influenced many artists in the Renaissance. He was born in Caprese, Italy in the year of
1475. He considered Florence to be his home at heart. During the Renaissance Era, Florence was a
center of art. Michelangelosaw that as an opportunity to develop his true talents. At 13,
Michelangelo was an apprentice to painter Domenico Ghirlandaio, particularly known for his
murals. Although Michelangelo expressed his genius in many media, he would always consider
himself a sculptor first. Michelangelo has always been known as one of the most famous
Renaissance artists because of his awe inspiring paintings, Sistine Chapel Ceiling, The Last
Judgment, and The Torment of Saint Anthony, and artistic panache.
The Torment of Saint Anthony is the earliest known painting by Michelangelo. This painting shows
Saint Anthony being accosted by demons in midair. Michelangelo finished this painting at the age
of twelve or thirteen in. This painting shows a jumpstart of his many talents. The mediums used in

Time being means temporary action, which will definitely change. For example, life is time
being. We never know what will happen to us in the next seconds, hours, days, months, or even

mystery. When Ruth is looking for Pesto in the forest, the crows warn (P.331) Ruth to stay away,
which connote the death of Pesto. Likewise, the author, Ozeki, uses the crows appearance to imply
that Jiko s death day is near future. The cat, Pesto, is a trouble maker. He is always doing bad things

Children Aggression From Violent Television Essay
Del Sha Roberts
Research Paper
Psych 280
Children Aggression From Violent Television Page Break Over the years, researchers have studied
the effects that television has had on children. When children are taught to tie their shoes, it is
because their parents taught them. When children are taught to ride their bikes, it is because
someone showed them. In many instances, children learn by watching and observing things they
see others do. This leads researchers to believe that violent television in terms, makes children more
aggressive.
According to Huesmann Rowell L., One of the notable changes in our social environment in the
20th and 21st centuries has been the saturation of our culture and daily lives by the mass media. In
this new environment radio, television, movies, videos, video games, cell phones, and computer
networks have assumed central roles in our children s daily lives. For better or worse the mass
media are having an enormous impact on our children s values, beliefs, and behaviors.
Unfortunately, the consequences of one particular common element of the electronic mass media
has a particularly detrimental effect on children s well being. Research evidence has accumulated
over the past half century that exposure to violence on television, movies, and most recently in
video games increases the risk of violent behavior on the viewer s part just as growing up in an
environment filled with real violence increases the risk of

individuality. Mrs. Chopin, who was raised in a matriarchal household, expresses her opposition to
the nineteenth century patriarchal society while using her personal experiences to exemplify her
feminist views. Katherine O Flaherty, later Kate Chopin, was born to Eliza and Thomas O Flaherty
in St. Louis, Missouri on February 8, 1850 (Deter). Unfortunately, when Mrs. Chopin was four, her
father died in a train incident leaving her under the care of three independent widows her mother,
grandmother, and great grandmother (Deter). Mrs. Chopin s great grandmother, Victoria Verdon
Charleville, directed her education, giving her a taste of the culture and freedom allowed by the
French that many Americans during this time disapproved of . . . through the art of storytelling
(Deter). Therefore, much of Mrs. Chopin s success in writing about women pursuing morality,
freedom, and political independence can be attributed to Victoria. Furthermore, the teachers at the
St. Louis Sacred Heart Academy, a school Mrs. Chopin s father had previously enrolled her in,
exposed her to Catholic teachings devoted to creating good wives and mothers, while also teaching
independent thinking ( Biography ).

King Lear Stereotypes
Gender Stereotypes in King Lear According to the Bible, man and woman were made by the same
materials, the same process, and the same hands. As time has passed, how these supposedly
similar creations are viewed as a whole, differs to a large extent through the use of premade
judgements. In King Lear, William Shakespeare shows how genderstereotypes are capable of going
from complete accuracy, to an entirely opposable turn. This is seen through the characters, Cordelia,
who follows gender stereotypes, Lear, who wavers between the two facets, and Goneril, who
convoys reverse gender stereotypes. One cannot change preinstalled thoughts, however there is the
ability to diminish them entirely. The act of following gender stereotypes is when one... Show more

In addition, Lear enables reversed stereotypical qualities. These qualities are shown when Lear
sees Cordelia for the first time after he banished her, specifically when he says, You are a spirit, I
know. Where did you die? (4.7.49). In this passage, Lear is crying while calling his daughter an
angel, a quiet and peaceful quality that is not seen very often with men. A large sense of
reversed stereotypes is evident, as most men are afraid to cry because it seems like a sense of
weakness, however here, Lear has his guard and walls completely down. In addition to not liking
to show emotion, men are also known to not want to say anything that could be considered as
mushy, which is the complete opposite of what Lear is doing here. Conceal, don t feel, don t let it
show unfortunately for Lear, whether he knows it or not, his capability to be sensitive is showing.
The above qualities reveal the fact that he follows both gender stereotypes, as well as reversed
gender stereotypes throughout the

Stratum Layer Research Paper
Stratum means that the cells are in layers. The stratum Corneum consists dead, keratinized cells.
This layer can be thick or thin depending on its location. On the palms and soles it is thicker for
more protection. It is about 0 15 Вµm from the skins surface. In RCM images, this layer appears
bright because keratinocytes have a high refractive index. Keratinocytes are cells that produce
keratin, which is a structural protein. The next layer is the stratum Granulosum. The cells in this
layer appear as granules when stained, hence the name. There are also keratinocytes in this layer.
This layer is about 15 29 Вµm below the skinsurface. In RCM images, in this layer there is
cytoplasm and nuclei. The cytoplasm appears grainy because of the organelles located in it and the
nuclei appear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next layer in the epidermis is the stratum Spinosum. In this layer the cells are connected to
each other by desmosomes that appear as spines. The nuclei are also smaller that the nuclei in
the Granulosum layer. This layer is about 20 100 Вµm below the skin surface. The last layer of
the epidermis is the basal layer. In this layer the cells line up with each other and there are also
melanocytes. Melanocytes are cells that produce melanin, which is the pigment that appears in
skin. The cells in this layer often divide to replace the cells in the layers above it. Melanocytes
appear as bright, round cells and basal cells are small and bright in RCM images. The next layer
that appears in the skin is the dermal epidermal junction. This is where the epidermis and the
dermis meet. There are two parts to the dermis: the papillary dermis and the reticular dermis.
The papillary dermis has finger like projections that touch the epidermis. This layer is around 100
150 Вµm below the skin surface. In RCM images, one can see blood flow. There are also collagen
fibers in dermis and they appear very

Muslim Minorities Security in OIC Member States
Muslim Minorities Security in OIC Member States
Division within the Muslim world did not begin until after the death of the Prophet Muhammad. It
arose in the form of political uncertainty about who would be the next leader of the Muslim
community after the death of the Prophet. One group of thinkers, who came to be known as Shiites
(Shia meaning faction in Arabic), believed that authority in the Muslim world should stay within
the family of the Prophet, and so pointed to Ali and his son Husayn, Muhammad s close relatives.
Another group, known as Sunnis, believed that the person most worthy to lead should become the
caliph, no matter his bloodline (Strayer 423). Over the centuries, this Sunni/Shiite divide only
widened. Several Shiite rebellions mainly failures invested them with an ideology that their dead
leaders were simply hiding, leading them to develop the belief in the Hidden, or Twelfth, Imam
who would one day return and set right the Shiites problems with the Sunnis (Strayer 423). Other
minor differences exist in the two groups ideology, with Shiites placing weight just on the teachings
of Muhammad and his descendants, whereas the Sunnis recognize works from other influential
early Muslim leaders. Several subdivisions exist within Shia Islam; their differences exist in how
many imams throughout history they recognize as legitimate. One major offshoot of Sunni Islam
Wahhabism originated in the teachings, military state building, and reformist tendencies

The Importance Of Good Writing Skills In The Dental Office
Did you know pens are lost every day in dental offices around the country? Whether a coworker or
the dentist themselves, takes the pen, or you lose the pen going from one room to another, a
replacement must be found. As a dental assistant, you never really get the chance to sit down. You
are running from one patient room to another following the doctor around the office. In an
American dental office, there are multiple tasks to be completed. Tasks may involve both writing
and communicationskills. Carrying a pen around is like carrying your cell phone around, you need
it at all times in the dental world in order to keep in touch with your team. Many things must be
written down and you cannot write something without a pen, but let us look at the importance of
writing skills as a dental assistant. In the dental field having good writing skills is highly important.
Good writing skills help in job opportunities, dental assisting tasks, and can result with positive or
negative outcomes.
Job Searching As dental professionals, it is very important to have good writing skills while job
searching. Majority of jobs request resumes to learn about previous job experiences, educational
background, and current knowledge in the field which someone is applying for. A resume is a
highly important representation of professionalism, working knowledge, but also writing skills
knowledge. A good resume is often your first impression to a recruiter. Before interviews are

Essay about Chlorinated Drinking Water is Necessary for...
With the aggregation of millions of people in large urban centers, there is an unprecedented amount
of human waste to be treated. In this treatment, pathogenic microbes (bacteria, viruses, protozoa,
and parasitic worms) must be removed or reduced to harmless levels. It is well known that in any
community, at any time, there are always small numbers of people who are either manifestly ill, in
some stage of illness but not demonstratively so, or healthy carriers of diseases. Together, these are
indications of a community s normal background of pathogenic microorganismsin which feces are
in the sewage. As a result, sewage is a great threat to human health, especially for those who come

The coarse screens consist of a bank of vertical bars set approximately 1 inch apart. Behind the
screens is a comminutor, which grinds the remaining solids to a size that should prevent damage to
the machinery that later are used to filter (Benarde).
The following step is secondary treatment, depending on the type of secondary treatment to be
given; the sewage will pass to either a bio filter or an activated sludge aeration tank. Both are based
on the stabilization or neutralization or organic waste by biological action. Although pathogenic
microorganisms are partially removed in the settling process and filtration and aeration
mechanically remove others, it is the process of chlorination that destroys the great majority of
organisms. In addition, chlorine leaves a residual in the water system can further disinfect, as water
is discharged into the watercourse.
Water supplies were first chlorinated at the turn of the century, and over the following two decades
chlorination was introduced for the disinfecting of drinking water in industrialized countries. In the
chlorination process, chlorine reacts mainly with natural water constituents to produce a complex

Life Long Learner Approach For Teaching
Having believed in life long learner approach, every now and then I have learned from others at
numerous instances. Before CELTA, teaching was just a mundane practice for me. I was very much
an average teacher and barely try to link with any student. Throughout this whole learning process, I
have enjoyed learning through edutainment, a blend of educationand entertainment that enhance
learning tremendously. The guidance and assistance given by my mentors are still working
exquisitely; for certain it was a magnum opus. CELTA reformed my teaching practice; I am on the
crest of a wave since then.
Besides, every teacher can narrate numerous highs and lows in their teaching career. Personally, I
experienced many great moments while teaching. Over my last 8 years of teaching and working in
education, one event stands above the rest as my absolute best teaching experience. Through the
years, I learned so much about teaching and dealing with students. Recently I graduated with TESL
Ontario and TESL Canada from Canadian College of Educators, Canada.
Today TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) plays an imperative role in Canada.
TESL Canada National Certification Standards for Instructors of English as a Second Language
or Foreign Language in Adult Programs were developed for instructors trained in Canada an

Frank Lloyd Wright Falling Water
Analysis of Falling Water
Introduction
Frank Lloyd Wright was a renowned American architect famous for his work titled Falling Water.
Wright made a significant contribution to the development of modern American architecture.
Falling Water was a house commissioned by Edgar Kaufmann and his family used it as a modern
vacation house in the mountainside. Although Falling Water is the most celebrated of his works, he
did more than a thousand sketches that resulted in more than 500 completed projects. Unlike other
architects of his time, Wright was willing to experiment with new ideas, in which he took to
become passionate more towards nature. His love for nature and his willingness to integrate

For some years, he had spent time in Japan studying the country s culture and architecture. From the
Japanese prints, he realized that there was a remarkable level of simplicity and that the print always
carried its spiritual significance (Assefa, 2003). He attributed such simplicity to a unique Japanese
culture that emphasized the underlying geometry of print. He realized that the Japanese had a
remarkable interest in nature and that they represented nature in the prints (Frank Lloyd Wright
Trust, 2016). When it came to Japanese houses, they employed similar simplicity, but the structures
remained impressive. He began selling Japanese prints in America, and his design of Falling Water
depicts that the Japanese culture was a major influence. The kind of simplicity that he depicted in
designing the house was outstanding. Moreover, Falling Water represented the underlying

`` No One Can Serve Two Masters ``
We live in a world where a person s success is measured by how much money they have or by the
amount of possessions they own. God, however, calls us to live a different lifestyle. Matthew
6:24 says No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you
will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Nevertheless, God also wants us to be frugal with our money so that we can bless others with our
excess. On My Own Two Feet gives some practical advice on how to get out of debt. The goal of
this book is to help people understand how they can live well today and also being able to save for
future needs. Some of the main idea of the book is to start savingnow to have an emergency fund,
to be able to pay for high priced items and to ensure a stable retirement. It is not until after the
personal finances are controlled can people really give generously and serve God with their
money. Deciding how much to spend and how much to save can be difficult. On My Own Two
Feet breaks down a gross income and shows what percentage of the income should be spent in
several different categories. The first, and the biggest, category is what they call the foundation
expenses (pg. 68). This includes all the stuff that is a basic need, such as food, shelter and
transportation. Because these are all necessitates in life, 45 percent of an income is devoted to
paying for them. The next biggest category is income taxes. According

Do animals possess consciousness? Are animals programmed to be slaves to nature or do they
possess consciousness: the ability to be aware of one s surroundings? While we don t know
what animals think or say, we can speculate on their brain activity and behavior in nature. As
Darwin has said, We differ from our closest relatives in degree, not kind. We may not be as
different from the animal kingdom as we have thought. Alex, an African grey parrot, was subject
to a scientific study for thirty years. Scientists criticized this experiment, since Alex had a
birdbrain, which was the size of a walnut. The popular test subjects were chimpanzees, whom were
thought to be more intelligent. However, Alex surely proved the scientists wrong; he had

For example, dolphins have talent in echolocation: the reflection of sounds to locate things. They
also have the potential to imitate their instructors. While it may seem like a simple skill, imitation
requires the dolphins to retain a mental image of their instructor, and then copy the movements with
their own bodies. Two dolphins, Akeakamai and Phoenix, without training improvised a trick of
circling underwater to spinning clockwise in the air in perfect synch. Dolphins are clever mammals
and are heavily implied to have consciousness. As Herman states, There are many things they could

creature that shows signs of consciousness is the octopus. They can block their dens with rocks as

How To Write An Essay About The Battle Of Bataan
The Battle of Bataan: The Japanese Arrive What brought America into World War II was the

The Importance Of Corporal Punishment
There are many ways to discipline a child. Some ways are you can ground them, yell at them for
what they did, or you can spank them. Hitting your child is a form of punishment used throughout
history. The most common way people discipline their kids is by Corporal punishment. Corporal
punishment is defined as a punishment that can be spankingor slapping a child bare handed. You
may also use a belt, paddle, or any flat object to punish the child so that they are in an
uncomfortable position or physical pain. Corporal punishmentis referred to as physical punishment.
This happens when a child misbehaves and the parent needs to discipline the child for what they
did. Most corporal punishment happens at home, but also sometimes in public. The way corporal
punishment is used should be banned and not used on any children for it changes the child s
behavior, the child s skills, and its harsh physical punishment.
Spanking can change the child s behavior. Spanking a child causes aggression among children. A
2002 meta analysis of 27 studies across time periods, countries, and ages found a persistent
association: children who are spanked regularly are more likely to be aggressive, both as a child
and as an adult. If a parent spanks or hits the child regularly it may also develop a distant
relationship between the parent and child. Many children grow up learning right from wrong, but
as kids we still don t listen. Parents spank their kids to stop that bad behavior. So, if we keep

A Survey Of Image Based Artistic Rendering Techniques

Paintings have been known to capture the human imagination since the pre historic times. A skilled
artist can evoke a range of human emotions and can portray things like appearances, playing of light
in surfaces, mood etc. on the paper. Similarly, with the invention of photography in the 19th
century, the artists got a new medium for their expressiveness and simulated artistic diversity. The
field of non photorealistic rendering started off in the early nineties with the aim of using the power

Also, researchers increasingly sought to automate the process and enhance the sophistication of
stroke placement.
The work by Haeberli[2] enabled people to transform photographs into impressionist paintings
with minimal labor. The user clicked on a photo, and the underlying system automatically placed
the virtual strokes by using the color of the source image. They also added noise to results to
enhance the impressionist effect. However, the first automatic solution was a tool proposed by
Litwinowicz [3]. This is the paper which we review first in this report.
Processing Images and Video for an Impressionist Effect
This paper aims producing impressions of the original image, i.e. images that give a sense of an
original image without reproducing it. They happen to have a painterly feel to them and appear as
they have been hand painted. They produce painterly animation from video clips automatically after
the user specifies a few parameters to generate he first frame. After the user s preferences are taken
into account and he approves the first frame, the whole video segment is automatically produced
without further user intervention.
The biggest challenge in videos is to produce a temporally coherent style of animation which
avoids flicker and takes into account the movement of objects in the video. This paper was the first
one to use optical flow to compute the per pixel movement in images and use it to generate a
sequence which is

The Communist Manifesto
The book I chose was Karl Marx s The Communist Manifesto. Marx starts his book off by
outlining what is happening to society. He states that society as a whole is more and more
splitting up into two hostile camps, into two great classes facing each other: Bourgeoisie and
Proletariat. Here, he is portraying that society has divided themselves and are on the verge of
fighting, hence him saying two hostile camps . He is describing the fact that, according to him,
money is driving us to fight. Bourgeoisie, by Marx s definition, means the capitalist class who
owns most of society s wealth and means of production . He posits that this class has title to all of
the people below them because they own the means of production. These people under... Show

According to his philosophy, members of the bourgeoisie party are worshiping their wealth. His
solution is to get rid of set wages and to help everyone receive duplicate compensation. Whether
you are practicing medicine or checking someone out at the local McDonald s, you both make
the same amount. In theory, this is a good idea. But, as with many political doctrines, they are
only good in theory. Not in action. Take the Soviet Union, for example. In rationale, they wanted
a communist government, but they technically never achieved it. There were still people that
made more profit than others. There were still classes. In order to have a TRUE communist
government, everyone has to be (must be) equal, from the leader down to the laborers.
Everyone must make the same profit and have access to the same things. In the case of the
Soviet Union, there were still classes. Some people were still above others. It wasn t that they
didn t have enough time to get everyone on the same level class wise, it s that they adamantly
chose not to. They could have gotten it to work, but they didn t. They chose to keep some people
superior to others. Why? you might ask. Well, I believe that they were afraid. They were afraid
that if everyone was equal, then people might try to take the power away from the ones who had

A study by the Palm Center, a research branch from the University of California Los Angeles
Law School, conducted a study a year after the repeal of DADT. The research group wanted to
discover what impacts the repeal has done to the military and according to their findings they
concluded: (1) The repeal of DADT has had no overall negative impact on militaryreadiness or its
component dimensions, including cohesion, recruitment, retention, assaults, harassment or
morale. (2) A comparison of 2011 pre repeal and 2012 post repeal survey data shows that service
members reported the same level of military readiness after DADT repeal as before it. (3) Even
in those units that included openly LGB service members, and that consequently should have
been the most likely to experience a drop in cohesion as a result of repeal, cohesion did not
decline after the new policy of open service was put into place. In fact, greater openness and
honesty resulting from repeal seem to have promoted increased understanding, respect and
acceptance. (4) Recruitment was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. In an era when enlistment
standards are tightening, service wide recruitment has remained robust. (5) Retention was
unaffected by the repeal of DADT. There was no mass exodus of military members as a result of
repeal, and there were only two verifiable resignations linked to the policy change, both military
chaplains. Service members were as likely to say that they plan to re enlist after DADT repeal as

Franz Kafka Literary Analysis
When a society determines that a group of people is detrimental or dangerous, this designation
often comes from an underlying fear concerning that group of people. Social structures respond to
this fear by isolating, controlling, or destroying the group of people in question. Franz Kafka
juxtaposes Gregor s abnormal body with a conventional human environment to symbolize how
society s perceptions of an outcast changes over time.
Environmental factors which surround an individual accentuates his abnormal features, creating a
negative societal image. Such abnormal features can be acquired in a number of ways. In the case
of Gregor Samsa, he finds himself waking up in the body of a cockroach, while in an environment
which caters to the human body he had possessed. Literally overnight, basic tasks, become a
challenge to Gregor. In his abnormal body, getting out of bed became difficult... as he was so
exceptionally broad. (Kafka 9) Kafka displays how Gregor would ve normally had his arms and

Biography of Margaret Sanger Essay
Biography of Margaret Sanger
Margaret Sanger founded a movement in this country that would institute such a change in the
course of our biological history that it is still debated today. Described by some as a radiant rebel ,
Sanger pioneered the birth control movement in the United States at a time when Victorian
hypocrisy and oppression through moral standards were at their highest. Working her way up from
a nurse in New York s poor Lower East Side to the head of the Planned Parenthood Federation of
America, Margaret Sanger was unwavering in her dedication to the movement that would
eventually result in lower infant mortality rates and better living conditions for the impoverished.
But, because of the way that her political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Margaret was exceptionally bright in school and her father pleaded with her to go back.
Margaret refused. Margaret s two older sisters, Mary and Nan, offered to pay for the cost of a
private school out of their paychecks if Margaret agreed to wait tables for her room and board.
So, in 1896 Margaret ended up at Claverack, one of the first coeducational schools in the East. It
was there that her natural leadership skills blossomed in the form popularity and pranks (Miller
199 203).
After graduation, Margaret taught first grade in a public school in New Jersey; she loved it.
Unfortunately, Margaret had to leave her job that same year to care for her mother who had
become critically ill. Anne Higgins had suffered from tuberculosis since before Margaret was born,
but Margaret still tried her hardest to nurse her mother back to health. All of her attempts failed
and, in March of 1896, Anne Higgins died. Margaret always believed that it was her mother s
frequent pregnancies (18 total) that led to her ill health and premature death. Realizing that it was
her turn to pitch in and help the family, Margaret stayed at home and took over most of her mother
s duties. Margaret did not mind the housework much, but it was the change in her father that she
could not handle; he had turned in to a bitter tyrant that rant the girls ragged. Margaret reconciled
with her father, but left soon after to pursue

PewDiePie s Path to Success
Education
Felix, or known better as Pewdiepie, lived in Gothenburg, Sweden. There he went to Gothenburg
Elementary School. Unlike most school districts his school went up to sixth grade instead of fifth.
Pewdiepie got great grades at his elementary school, and was very well liked. He always had a
great time, until he went to his junior high school. Kjellberg lost interest school and his once well
grades turned into C s and below. Though he never got held back, he was still able to pass onto
high school. He went to Samaskolan High School, and still he was struggling in school. Felix
lost connections and relationships at school including his family. Pewdiepie struggled for two
more years, until his senior year came. In his senior year he decided to fix his grades and turn
his life around. All of his studying and working long hours paid off when he took a physics
exam and he received the highest score out of 200 students. The young man graduated in 2008,
and because of his high score he got first choice of colleges. Pewdiepie went to Chalmers
University of Technology to obtain a degree in Industrial Economics and Technology
Management. There he worked on his art and he became very creative. He worked on Photoshop
and hand drawn art. Once he got enough money he bought a new computer and improved his
works with art, though not only that, but also videos about gaming. Felix opened a YouTube
account and posted his videos on the website. Every video he made he became

Genre, Plot, And Theme Of This Play
1)Discuss the genre, plot, and theme of this play.
The genre is a musical comedy. The rock music of the eighties moves the play through the story
that is centered in the Bourbon Room bar in Los Angeles. Most of the characters in the play
used to be in a rock band, currently are in a rock band or are trying hard to get into a rock band.
The girls who wanted or currently want to make in movies are bar waitresses and strippers. Big
business wants to close down the strip and develop a new business district. The classic rock hits
and the main love interest moves the story toward a happy and energetic ending.
2)Did you enjoy the production? Why or why not?
I enjoy comedies and I love many of the songs that were in the play so I could not help but laugh
and sing along at times. The production was very good overall. I was uncomfortable with the
strippers. The very suggestive dances and constant presence of the outfits were not necessary for
the overall story. The females playing the strippers did a good job and did deliver in lines and
lyrics. The actors did a very convincing job. The vocals were strong and the live rock band gave
the show a punch. The small stage and limited seating at the Virginia Samford Theatrewere
strengths. The actors were close and you could see every expression. The size of the theatre helps
pull you into the play.
3)Which actors did a convincing job? Describe their technique.
I was very impressed with the quality of Birmingham talent. Many of the main

Movie Studio Analysis
Licensing Agreements
If a movie studio were to approach me about the use of my music in a movie there are several terms
that would have to be outlined. These include payment, exclusivity, use, territory, and time (The Art
Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division para. 35).
Firstly, I would figure out the payment. Do I want to get paid in lump sums, royalties or
combination payments? If the movie stands a chance of success I would choose royalties because
the amount of payment is based on the success of the film, which means more money for me (The
Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division para. 23).
Secondly I would discuss the exclusivity of the licensed product. Exclusivity is the use of rights
granted to the license by the licensor (The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division para. 35).
When establishing the licensing contract with the movie studio I want to establish that only this
movie may use my work and no other productions by the movie studio may use my work. I may
also license the work so that other productions may use the work with non exclusive rights (The Art
Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division para. 35).
The licensor should also look into the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example in popular music there is the use of sampling of other songs or beats to produce
your own song. The producer of the new song must first gain the proper licensing and
permission of the original artist or is liable for a lawsuit. Another possible example is the
licensing of your music for radio use. For instance, the music we here on the radio is licensed to
the radio station to be played on that station with permission from the artist. Failure to obtain this
permission can again lead to legal dispute. Finally, a third option is licensing your music for use in
other media formats besides film. These formats include video games, television shows,
commercials (television and radio), web advertising and YouTube

Animals For Medical Purposes Should Not Remain Legal
Millions of harmless, innocent animals die tragically every year because of painful medical
research. Animals including mice, rabbits, monkeys, cats, and dogs undergo painful procedures
and medical experiments in order to monitor the devastating effect that takes place on their bodies.
As the animals wait in their cold, boring, isolated cages, they do not receive the chance to roam
around or use their natural abilities. Before their soon, unavoidable death, some animals are
injected with harmful toxins, have holes drilled in their skulls, inhale toxic vapors, and have all
their skin burned off. The animal s moral rights never become apparent and the creatures are taken
away to be tortured until death remains unpreventable. The right for experimenters to test and kill
animals for medical purposes should not remain legal.
The use of animals for biomedical research dates back to the third and fourth centuries BCE.
Recently, the severe treatment of animals sparked a growing controversy by animal lovers and
protectors everywhere. A well known organization known as People for the Ethical Treatment of
Animal (PETA) strikes back against medical researchon animals and holds strong to its belief that
this research is inhumane and should seize immediately. The animals that undergo medical
treatments in attempt to find cures for human diseases did nothing to deserve a painful, cruel life.
Animals contribute vast amounts of positive things to people and to the environment

Themes In Silver Sparrow
Tayari Jones s third novel, Silver Sparrow , also known as Tale of Secret Sisters is a novel about
two secret African American teenage sisters who have different relationships and lead very
different lives. The novel takes place in the 1980s in middle class Atlanta, Georgia. The two
narrators, Dana Yarboro and Chaurisse Witherspoon, go through the same process, but in very
different directions, which is maturation. The main secret in the novel is that Dana knows that she
has a half sister, but Charisse dose not. Dana says in the opening line of chapter one, My father,
James Witherspoon is a bigamist. (3). One of James s marriages is public and the other is very

Their lives are the same, but their personalities and the truth are not. Finding out about different
personalities and versions of the truth, but with love and approval is the main reason for the
sisters. Dana and Charisse figure out why James is married to two women during James s
younger years. Dana is attractive and scholastic. Charisse is moderate and diligent. They both
have relationships with boys and reflect about their mothers. The main truth is Dana knows
about James s other family, but Charisse does not know. Dana and Charisse are well developed
characters because of the same process they go through the whole novel. They develop the
different versions of the truth and their different personalities. They can be realistic, because
anybody can go through the same situation that Dana and Charisse did. More people are having
the same problem then what the sisters have. The sisters reliability is both yes and no, because
they find reliable information about their families, but Dana s is about Gwen and Charisse s side
of family and Charisse is about Laverne, but cannot find out about Dana s family. The novel,
Silver Sparrow , is not about sisterly love between mothers and daughters, it is about two sisters
and how they go through James s two married lives and it

Malhotra, Georgia Institute of Technology Introduction This chapter describes the importance of a questionnaire and presents the process for developing questionnaires and observational forms. Guidelines for questionnaire construction are provided at each stage of the process. In addition, commonly used scaling techniques and use of questionnaires in experimentation are discussed and the design of observational forms is presented.1 What Is a Questionnaire? A questionnaire is a formalized set of questions for obtaining information from respondents. Filler questions may be added to disguise the purpose or sponsorship of the project. For example, in brand studies, a researcher may include questions about the full range of competing brands so that the respondents won t know who is sponsoring the study. Early in the interviewing process when the researcher is attempting to build a relationship with respondents and capture their attention, a few easy to answer neutral questions may be helpful. At times, certain questions may also be repeated for the purpose of assessing reliability or validity. Are Several Questions Needed Instead of One? In some cases, two questions are better than one. However, asking two questions in one is not the solution. Consider the following question: Do you think JC Penney offers better variety and prices than other department stores stores? (Incorrect) A yes answer will presumably be clear, but what if the answer is no ? Does this mean that the respondent thinks that JC Penney does not offer better variety, that it does not offer better prices, or that it neither offers better variety nor better prices? Such a question is called a doublebarreled question because two or more questions are combined into one. To avoid confusion, these questions should be asked separately, 178 178 Do you think JC Penney offers better variety than other department stores? The rate of occurrence of cyber attacks, the lighting fast speed of dissemination, and the economic impact requires same level of attention and response as a pandemic health crisis. The technical solutions are addressing these serious concerns on the technological side but they do little to reduce or eliminate cyber attacks from occurring in the first place. • 8. Data Analysis Processing And Analysis Data Analysis Processing and Analysis To test the hypothesis that national board certification (primary independent variable) has an effect on reading scores and reading levels (dependent variable); an ordinal regression analysis was applied using R for statistical analysis and coding of data. The ordinal regression was used to rank the predictor variables; A. Certification and Years of Experience, B. Advance degree and Years of Experience, and C. Certification and Advance Degree. In addition, reading levels were ranked from the lowest reading text level to the highest text level. The reading scores were collected from national board certified and non national board certified teachers. The data collected included the beginning of year and end of year reading scores. The dependent variable reading score is likely dependent on more than just board certification. Predictor variables, including advanced degrees and years of service included in the regression to give a more robust picture of the actual effect of board certification has on reading scores (McClendon, 1994). The researcher displayed data results of advanced degree and national board effects in a 2x2 contingency table. The table analysis was utilized to reveal the independence and dependence between the variables. The dispersion of the data occurred in the final stage of the analysis known as the inferential statistical phase. At this point the researcher determined whether a significant correlation exists ... • 10. Essay Analysis of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens Analysis of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens Charles Dickens, the revolutionary 19th century novelist, wrote a bildungsroman of Phillip Pirrip (Pip) and the reality of his own Great Expectations in his pursuit to become a gentleman. In Chapter 8, the reader is introduced to Miss Havisham and Estella and this is where Pip first becomes dissatisfied with the life at the forge. There were many writers in Dickens day whose works are no longer read; this is possibly because Dickens did something idiosyncratically different from his contemporaries. The plot of Great Expectations is quite complex, yet it is the way that Dickens handles the various elements of the plot that makes the novel appealing. For instance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By introducing this character, the questions of why she is withdrawn and how this is related to the subplot concerning the convicts are left unanswered. It is not until during Chapters 40 42 that the reader finds out about Miss Havisham s connection with the convicts. Dickens is deliberately vague about Miss Havisham s past. This allows him later to introduce the idea that she might be Pip s benefactor. From the first point of contact Dickens is creating twists and turns later in the novel. The eccentricity and eeriness of Miss Havisham fascinates the reader, as she is one of fiction s strangest (Ch. 8 p. 46) women. Questions are posed in this chapter about the connection between her and Estella and why is she wearing bridal dress (Ch. 8 p. 50). The reader may assume several reasons but their innate inquisitiveness helps propel the novel forward. This device is used because of the structure of the novel. It was originally printed in weekly instalments. This means that Great Expectations does not have the structure of a conventional novel. Instead of moving towards a general climax, the story has many mini resolutions of the plot. Each new episode needed a cliffhanger type ending in order to ensure that the public would buy the next instalment. This has often been seen as a weakness of Charles Dickens novels as the story can become repetitive. An advantage of this is that the original reader, if having missed an issue, can have a ... • 19. Children Aggression From Violent Television Essay Del Sha Roberts Research Paper Psych 280 Children Aggression From Violent Television Page Break Over the years, researchers have studied the effects that television has had on children. When children are taught to tie their shoes, it is because their parents taught them. When children are taught to ride their bikes, it is because someone showed them. In many instances, children learn by watching and observing things they see others do. This leads researchers to believe that violent television in terms, makes children more aggressive. According to Huesmann Rowell L., One of the notable changes in our social environment in the 20th and 21st centuries has been the saturation of our culture and daily lives by the mass media. In this new environment radio, television, movies, videos, video games, cell phones, and computer networks have assumed central roles in our children s daily lives. For better or worse the mass media are having an enormous impact on our children s values, beliefs, and behaviors. Unfortunately, the consequences of one particular common element of the electronic mass media has a particularly detrimental effect on children s well being. Research evidence has accumulated over the past half century that exposure to violence on television, movies, and most recently in video games increases the risk of violent behavior on the viewer s part just as growing up in an environment filled with real violence increases the risk of ... Kate Chopin s The Awakening Commonly explored throughout her works, the idea of marriage inhibiting a woman s freedom is the driving force behind Kate Chopin s contextual objections to propriety. In particular, The Awakening and The Story of an Hour explore the lives of women seeking marital liberation and individuality. Mrs. Chopin, who was raised in a matriarchal household, expresses her opposition to the nineteenth century patriarchal society while using her personal experiences to exemplify her feminist views. Katherine O Flaherty, later Kate Chopin, was born to Eliza and Thomas O Flaherty in St. Louis, Missouri on February 8, 1850 (Deter). Unfortunately, when Mrs. Chopin was four, her father died in a train incident leaving her under the care of three independent widows her mother, grandmother, and great grandmother (Deter). Mrs. Chopin s great grandmother, Victoria Verdon Charleville, directed her education, giving her a taste of the culture and freedom allowed by the French that many Americans during this time disapproved of . . . through the art of storytelling (Deter). Therefore, much of Mrs. Chopin s success in writing about women pursuing morality, freedom, and political independence can be attributed to Victoria. It arose in the form of political uncertainty about who would be the next leader of the Muslim community after the death of the Prophet. One group of thinkers, who came to be known as Shiites (Shia meaning faction in Arabic), believed that authority in the Muslim world should stay within the family of the Prophet, and so pointed to Ali and his son Husayn, Muhammad s close relatives. Another group, known as Sunnis, believed that the person most worthy to lead should become the caliph, no matter his bloodline (Strayer 423). Over the centuries, this Sunni/Shiite divide only widened. Several Shiite rebellions mainly failures invested them with an ideology that their dead leaders were simply hiding, leading them to develop the belief in the Hidden, or Twelfth, Imam who would one day return and set right the Shiites problems with the Sunnis (Strayer 423). Other minor differences exist in the two groups ideology, with Shiites placing weight just on the teachings of Muhammad and his descendants, whereas the Sunnis recognize works from other influential early Muslim leaders. In this treatment, pathogenic microbes (bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and parasitic worms) must be removed or reduced to harmless levels. It is well known that in any community, at any time, there are always small numbers of people who are either manifestly ill, in some stage of illness but not demonstratively so, or healthy carriers of diseases. Together, these are indications of a community s normal background of pathogenic microorganismsin which feces are in the sewage. As a result, sewage is a great threat to human health, especially for those who come in contact with water drawn from sewage contaminated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Behind the screens is a comminutor, which grinds the remaining solids to a size that should prevent damage to the machinery that later are used to filter (Benarde). The following step is secondary treatment, depending on the type of secondary treatment to be given; the sewage will pass to either a bio filter or an activated sludge aeration tank. Both are based on the stabilization or neutralization or organic waste by biological action. Although pathogenic microorganisms are partially removed in the settling process and filtration and aeration mechanically remove others, it is the process of chlorination that destroys the great majority of organisms. Before CELTA, teaching was just a mundane practice for me. I was very much an average teacher and barely try to link with any student. Throughout this whole learning process, I have enjoyed learning through edutainment, a blend of educationand entertainment that enhance learning tremendously. The guidance and assistance given by my mentors are still working exquisitely; for certain it was a magnum opus. CELTA reformed my teaching practice; I am on the crest of a wave since then. Over my last 8 years of teaching and working in education, one event stands above the rest as my absolute best teaching experience. Through the years, I learned so much about teaching and dealing with students. Recently I graduated with TESL Ontario and TESL Canada from Canadian College of Educators, Canada. God, however, calls us to live a different lifestyle. Matthew 6:24 says No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Nevertheless, God also wants us to be frugal with our money so that we can bless others with our excess. On My Own Two Feet gives some practical advice on how to get out of debt. The goal of this book is to help people understand how they can live well today and also being able to save for future needs. Some of the main idea of the book is to start savingnow to have an emergency fund, to be able to pay for high priced items and to ensure a stable retirement. The first, and the biggest, category is what they call the foundation expenses (pg. 68). This includes all the stuff that is a basic need, such as food, shelter and transportation. Are animals programmed to be slaves to nature or do they possess consciousness: the ability to be aware of one s surroundings? While we don t know what animals think or say, we can speculate on their brain activity and behavior in nature. As Darwin has said, We differ from our closest relatives in degree, not kind. We may not be as different from the animal kingdom as we have thought. Alex, an African grey parrot, was subject to a scientific study for thirty years. Scientists criticized this experiment, since Alex had a birdbrain, which was the size of a walnut. The popular test subjects were chimpanzees, whom were thought to be more intelligent. Hitting your child is a form of punishment used throughout history. The most common way people discipline their kids is by Corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is defined as a punishment that can be spankingor slapping a child bare handed. You may also use a belt, paddle, or any flat object to punish the child so that they are in an uncomfortable position or physical pain. Corporal punishmentis referred to as physical punishment. This happens when a child misbehaves and the parent needs to discipline the child for what they did. Most corporal punishment happens at home, but also sometimes in public. The way corporal punishment is used should be banned and not used on any children for it changes the child s behavior, the child s skills, and its harsh physical punishment. Spanking can change the child s behavior. Spanking a child causes aggression among children. A 2002 meta analysis of 27 studies across time periods, countries, and ages found a persistent association: children who are spanked regularly are more likely to be aggressive, both as a child and as an adult. (2) A comparison of 2011 pre repeal and 2012 post repeal survey data shows that service members reported the same level of military readiness after DADT repeal as before it. (3) Even in those units that included openly LGB service members, and that consequently should have been the most likely to experience a drop in cohesion as a result of repeal, cohesion did not decline after the new policy of open service was put into place. In fact, greater openness and honesty resulting from repeal seem to have promoted increased understanding, respect and acceptance. (4) Recruitment was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. In an era when enlistment standards are tightening, service wide recruitment has remained robust. (5) Retention was unaffected by the repeal of DADT.
