Grant s Defense Strategies In The Battle Of Cold Harbor
In the battle of Cold Harbor, Grant planned to attack General Robert E. Lee s army to remove him
from the Confederate capital and remove him from the confederate capital. Grant thought that he
could overpower General Lee if he could draw him out of his protective barriers and into the open
space. Grant had tried to do so before, but he had failed. Because he used a strategy of continuously
calling troops to battle, he eventually had to wait until more troops arrived. Due to General Grant s
attack ideas, General Lee s defense strategies, and Strategies of placing and protecting troops, The
Battle of Cold Harbor was won by the confederacy. The battle strategies used in the north were
important to how this battle played out. When grant was planning ... Show more content on

The defense strategies of the confederacy led to overpower the union with even less troops. The battle
of Cold Harbor ended when Lee won the battle from strong defense strategies against the union, on
June 12, 1864. Since this battle was so close to a confederate military base, the confederate military
had more protection and more supplies. In the union, 12,737 men died and in the confederate, 4,595
men died in 12 days during the battle of Cold Harbor. Grant had sent in many more troops than the
confederate did, so there were fewer men in the confederate who died. Grant ended up pulling out of
Cold Harbor once he realized he would not win. General Lee had won the battle of Cold Harbor for

How Did Fillipo Brunelleschi Contribute To The Renaissance
As the Renaissance was the rebirth of Greco Roman culture, the architecture in Italy was based off of
Classical Roman examples. In that era, an architect s journey to Rome was required to study the
buildings and ruins. Italian architecture was created through pillars, columns, arches, domes, and
entablatures. Renaissance architecture is one of the most appreciated in the world. Humanist architects
wished to construct structures that would connect with people through emotions and reason. Marcus
Vitruvius Pollio s architectural writings also helped the Italian architects create a sense of beauty. The
two leading architects in the Early Renaissance were Filippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti.
Brunelleschi mainly created churches. HIs dome of Florence Basilica was the largest dome in the pre
industrial world. This dome is not considered Renaissance work, for it is gothic. Brunelleschi s other
full buildings are considered Renaissance, and the most popular of them all is Basilica of San
Lorenzo. The exterior has blind arches, while the interior has planar classicism. Alberti was a theorist.
He was the most influential architectural theorist in the Early Renaissance. He instructed architects on
how to turn old, classic buildings into modern ones. Alberti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Donato Bramante was the leader of this period. HIs greatest work is the Tempietto, a Doric shrine on
the site of St. Peter s martyrdom. The Church of Santa Maria has a central plan that resembles
Bramante s, yet it is not known that he created it. The Palazzo Farnese was designed principally by
Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. He was Bramate s student. This follows the Renaissance Palazzo
layout. It is a three story rectangular building with rows of windows. Rustication was a popular
decorative element of the palazzo. This means that the masonry wall is rough instead of smooth. The

Advantages Of Frugal Innovation
Introduction
There is a growing need for simple, cost efficient, commercially viable technology solutions for
complex or day to day problems to turn the restrictions and constraints into advantage. Frugal
innovation is any innovation which works around the constraints financial or otherwise to either
increase efficiency of a process or service or effectively lower costs for an organisation or section of
people.
Frugal which is also known as Jugaad innovation works around the concept of creation of products or
services which are extremely cost efficient ,uses the resources to the maximum limit and makes use of
new age technologies which reduces the cost in the entire process of business. Frugally innovated
products are today being used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
but can span across diverse fields. There are variety of factors that favours Frugal or as it is said
Jugaad innovations in India
Every day , there are new platforms of technology like cloud computing that are incoming, which are
reducing cost of production, making it a lot more easier for the growth of frugal innovation
With the poor growth rate in the developed nations, price has become one of the major factors in
everyday increasing demands for low cost products which are good enough in getting the task done
In India there is abundance of people with the frugal bend of mind, The presence of Jugaad attitude in
people means there is no dearth of local innovators which would use all the possible means in terms of
low cost resources, technology to develop new products with the frugal centric approach
The presence of middle class in large number in India serves as a high motivation factor for
development of frugal innovation as there is already a ready made market for products which are cost

The Boondocks And Black Dynamite Infographic Analysis
My goal for this infographic is to represent the stereotypes that are shown in the television series The
Boondocks and Black Dynamite by using offensive pictures to induce the shock factor in my
audience, but not so much that they lose sight of what is being depicted and why. For example, when
determining what image to use for Support Racial Beliefs I was tempted to use a clipart image of the
KKK, but realized that it would be too offensive. Instead, I settled for an image of Riley from The
Boondocks to represent a show that might support racial beliefs. When designing the infographic, I
chose to make the background different variations of the color green to evoke psychological emotions
of apprehension, fear, and terror towards the topic (Morin, 2014). I chose this color even though green
is known for representing tranquility because the psychological emotions it causes differs when the
tones are changed (Morin, 2014). Throughout the infographic, I changed the shades of green as the
topics became more serious to induce a certain emotion towards the subject being depicted. At the
beginning of the infographic, I chose to use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also did this since the IMR is a serious topic, which discusses the possibility of a person
subconsciously committing the actions they have seen in images (Shin et al., 2010; Herbort and Butz,
2012). When choosing an image to represent this topic, I selected an image of a Boondocks DVD
cover. I decided to use this image to represent the consequences of the IMR because it makes an
excellent example of a cartoon that could cause this event to occur. The other images connected to it
represent the possible effects that could take place if the IMR occurred, which would include the brain
subconsciously reinforcing stereotypes and enacting racial

Analysis Of Where The Wild Things Are Essay
Character of Godly Leaders
The word character naturally conjures up an array of specific attributes distinctive of an individual or
environment. Our earliest experiences with character likely stem from being read classic children s
books, like Maurice Sendak s, Where The Wild Things Are, or Dr. Seuss s, Green Eggs and Ham,
which portray distinct personality traits within the main character and demonstrate evolution of self as
the character acquires knowledge from his or her life experience. Like the characters within our
favorite childhood books, each of us represents a malleable being whose shape can transform through
the beautiful manifestation of God s glory throughout our life journey.
The bible provides countless examples of individuals with an incredible moral foreground on which a
sovereign God casts influence upon the body of Christ, from the metamorphosis of the apostle Peter to
Jesus the Messiah, yet God himself remains the ultimate testament of character. The immaculate
nature of God can be seen within the following excerpt from the book of Exodus,
As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, I am the LORD, the LORD. I am the God who
is tender and kind. I am gracious. I am slow to get angry. I am faithful and full of love. I continue to
show my love to thousands of people. I forgive those who do evil. I forgive those who refuse to obey
me. And I forgive those who sin. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing them. I cause

Dan Ariely s Predictably Irrational
The profound author of Predictably Irrational is Dan Ariely. When Ariely was a young eighteen year
old Israeli boy, he suffered serious injuries due to an explosion. Tragically, 70% of his body was
covered in third degree burns (xiii). Due to this tragic accident, Ariely became accustomed to an
unnatural viewpoint in economics. The daily bath that the nurses gave Ariely made him experience a
great deal of irrational fears that were persistent and life changing. Once his wounds had healed,
Ariely then sought out to grasp a better understanding of how to better treat patients so that they did
not have to experience the irrational fears that Ariely overcame. This allowed him to begin his field of
research, leading to the creation of this intellectually profound book. ... Show more content on

He thought, why I loved one girl but not another, why my daily routine was comfortable for the
physicians but not for me (xiii). These irrational thoughts running through his mind led to a greater
understanding of the economics behind making predictable choices/decisions. Furthermore, Ariely
wrote this book in order to prove the idea that the rational choices we make on an everyday basis are
actually predictably irrational . The discipline that allows Ariely to challenge the way we think is
called behavioral economics. According to Ariely the latter, draws on aspects of both psychology and
economics (xviii). Ariely accumulated a fascination for behavioral economics. He said, I became
engrossed with the idea that we repeatedly and predictably make the wrong decisions in many aspects
of our lives and that research could help change some of these patterns Through this quote, we begin
to review Ariely s economic journey through various psychological experiments that tested the
decision making process of many young

Theodor Herzl Research Paper
Theodor Herzl: Father of Zionism?
Theodor Herzl is often referred to today as the Father of Zionism, a man known for his role in the
establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people. His most famous pamphlet, The Jewish State,
inspired thousands of Jewish men and women from across the world, although particularly in Europe,
to leave their homes to realize the glory of creating their own homeland in Palestine. While Herzl was
originally a believer in the gradual assimilation of German and Austrian Jews into the European
cultural world, the growing anti Semitism within Europe led him to believe that the only solution to
Jewish ostracism was the creation of a separate state for Jews in Palestine. Although Theodor Herzl
became, over the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also believed that the Jewish religion was one in a state of moral decay and rot. Herzl believed that
centuries long imprisonment in the ghetto had isolated Jews from the mainstream of history, rendering
them superstitious and fanatic and made them physically weak, cowardly, and incapable of honest,
manual labor (Kornberg 21 2). Herzl was disgusted by what he viewed as the deterioration and filth of
the Jewish religion, but at the same time his view that it centuries of domination held the Jew in such a
state gave him hope for the future of Judaism after its people were released from the yoke of
oppression.
It was during Theodor Herzl s youth and early adolescence that a period of anti clericalism arose in the
Germanic world, due mainly to Pope Pius IX and his ringing declaration that all religions were not
equal and toleration of any religion other than Catholicism was condemned. This sparked a period of
great animosity towards the Church, primarily among writers and the artistic community (Kornberg
14).
The struggle against the Catholic church in Germany during the 1870s marked a high point of liberal
influence and came to be called, in a term coined by a prominent liberal, the Kulturkampf, or the great
struggle for civilization in the interests of humanity. In the course of the 1870s, civil marriage was
legalized in Germany, church supervision of public education was eliminated, and the state took

George Washington said, I do not expect the Constitution to last for more than 20 years (Gilder

it is flexible and it stresses liberty and equality to the American people. The book states, It has endured
for more than two centuries as the framework of government because it has changed over time
(Overview). Thomas Jefferson, based on his notion that the world belongs to the living was
technically right. We are the living and our Constitution is basically the same as it was when he made
that statement.

Pros And Cons Of Dishonest Behaviors In College Education
Since finding the right employees is getting more competitive as time goes on, it is not odd to say or
hear that nowadays college students risk their necks on GPA, especially students from different
country or different culture. I believe this caused unstoppable problems in the America college
education, such as doctored documents and proxy for an exam or paper are becoming ordinary among
English as Second Language students. These unethical behaviors are caused by higher standards in
social to be recognized. Students are seeking out for good grades and GPA in order to be fulfill hiring
requirements in nowadays. This is why students falsify documents to be accepted by colleges. Also,
this is the reason why students buy a paper rather than write a paper. I believe students, who engage in
any kind of unethical and dishonest behavior in school, should be punished by school s honor code.
In order to be accepted by a college in the United States, students must attain specific conditions. This
is the reason why some of the Chinese international students commit dishonest acts in academic. In
other words, students break and bend the rules and their moral to be enrolled in a college. In the article
The Plagiarism Plague, Raymond A. Schroth mentions that some other agencies falsify school
letterheads and create doctored transcripts and counterfeit letters of recommendation. These unethical
and dishonest acts should be considered as crime , because they are disregarding on rules

Psychoactive Drugs Chapter 2 Analysis
Chapter two discusses how psychoactive drugs influence our behavior by it reaching the central
nervous system first, the most common routes being inhalation, oral administration and injection. I
found it interesting that heroin can cross the blood brain barrier a 100 times more than morphine
because it is more liquid soluble. Having stress when taking any of the psychoactive drugs only
increases the effects it will have on the brain. Chemicals that normally could not go through the blood
brain barrier will now have access under stress. Combining stress with the use of psychoactive drugs
can lead to more serious risk such as drug toxicity and even overdose. Another issue that I found
fascinating in chapter two were the drug stimulants being

What Is The Difference Between Arx And Engel s Theory Of...
arx and Engels believed that the system at work of labor in society created a general alienation of
people from consciousness of their species being ; consciousness of being human. Within this theory
of human alienation, Marx and Engels provide three components from which people are generally
estranged from: the objects of labor, from nature, and from the labor itself. Plato, in contrast, believed
that human alienation lived on the basis of specialization, efficiency, and lack of education. That
people, in Socrates Kallipolis, were generally alienated from the Form of the Truth and Ideas. He
derails from Marx and Engels in the sense that Plato never believed in an inevitable Communist
Revolution, but in a possible political revolution, needed in order to maintain moderation and avoid
the clash of ideas in society. Where Marx and Engels believe in communism for the good of economy,
Socrates believed in communism for the good of the government and his Republic.
Marx and Engels believed that the economy during the Industrial Revolution created a mechanical
system in which people came to be alienated from the reality of being a human being. They argue that
because society is putting in all of its effort to compete with each other so that production becomes a
competition, people lose their sense of living, the sense of themselve, their species being. In the
Communist Manifesto, they argue, The bourgeoisie cannot exist without constantly revolutionising the

Granite
What type of minerals are in granite? The minerals that are in granite are Feldspar, Hornblende, Mica,
Quartz, and Magnetite. These minerals are in granite because of their color, hardness, streak, luster
and their break. These properties are helpful for identifying if the mineral is a part of granite or if it
not a part of granite.
Many minerals are apart of other rocks just like granite. Granite consists of some minerals like
Hornblende and Feldspar. Hornblende is a mineral apart of granite that is black, dark green, and
brown. The mineral has a streak of a white, grayish color. The reason that Hornblende is apart of
granite is because a scratch test was done on the parts of the granite sample that are the same color as
hornblende, the streak on those parts of the granite sample were the exact same color as the
Hornblende streak, therefore Hornblende is apart of granite. Feldspar is a mineral that is also apart of
granite, Feldspar is white, pink and gray. Feldspar has a streak of the color white and is considered
nonmetallic. Feldspar is a mineral is granite because the granite sample is mostly consisting of the
color pink. These two minerals are only some of the minerals of granite. ... Show more content on

black pieces of paper with white scratches all over it. Another fact about Mica is that it s streak color

Plunkitt of Tammany Hall Essay
Plunkitt of Tammany Hall
1. Honest Graft and Dishonest Graft When Plunkitt was tipped off about something in the city or
someone wanting to built a park or something, he sees the opportunity and he takes it. He buys up the
land before they do. When they see that they are going to need the land, he sells it to them at a much
higher price than what he paid for it, giving him a nice profit. That is honest graft. Several politicians
are accused of stealing dollars from the state s treasury, this is an example of dishonest graft.
The condemnation commissioners came along and found piece after piece of land under the name
George Plunkitt of the Fifteenth Assembly District, New York City. They wondered how he knew just

hindrance and the only way to last is to know everyone in your district. He talks about looking after
the people, know what they are interested in and help them with what they want. Help the people and
they will help you on election day.
7. On the Shame of the Cities In Lincoln Steffens, The Shame of the Cities, Plunkitt says that he does
not know how to make decisions. He talks about the Philadelphia Republican Gang and Tammany
Hall being almost the same. Plunkitt thinks he is all wrong. Plunkitt seems to talk about politicians
stealing, saying that they in 1905 are no worse than 1835 as a class. It just means that the old timers
had nothing to steal, while the politicians in 1905 were surrounded by temptations.
8.Ingratitude in Politics Plunkitt talks about how he was back stabbed by one of the people he took in
hand, The McManus. His friends told him that this would happen but he did not believe them.
McManus ran ahead of Plunkitt in their own district. He later broke his ties with him. When a district
leader is voted in it is like a solemn contract. If you do good and help us out, we will re elect you next
term. If you do not, you will be swatted down and will not be reelected.

Who Is To Blame For Lincoln s Assassination
On April 14, 1865, one of the most devastating historic events took place. The war had just ended.
Lincoln wanted to get out of the White House to get a good laugh. Lincoln decided to see one of his
favorite plays, Our American Cousin. Arriving late, Lincoln was seated in the Presidential Box along
with his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, Henry Rathbone, and Rathbone s fiancé, Clara Harris. (Holzer) At
exactly 10:15 p.m., Booth entered the private box, and shot his .44 caliber single shot derringer into
the back of President Lincoln s head. Rathbone tried to stop Booth, but he was stabbed by the assassin.

Samuel A. Mudd, a physician who set Booth s leg; Edward Spangler, a stagehand that helped Booth
escape; and Mary Eugenia Surratt, the owner of the home where the crimes were planned. These
conspirators were all convicted by a nine man military commission. The commission sentenced
Arnold, Mudd, and O Laughlin to life imprisonment and sentenced Spangler to six years in prison. O
Laughlin died of yellow fever in prison in 1867. Arnold, Mudd, and Spangler were all pardoned by
President Johnson in 1869. Mudd also saved many prisoners and guards during the yellow fever
epidemic. (Neely) The commission also sentence Herold, Powell, Atzerodt, and Surratt to death. They
were hung on July 7.
Mary Eugenia Surratt was the first women who was put to death by the federal government. Her son,
who was believed to also be involved with the plot, was tried in 1867. He was not released from
prison until June, 1868. The hanging of his mother has been considered as a gross miscarriage of
justice. Her prosecution never established that she knew anything about the plot and that she was not

Concert Paper The live performance I attended was on June 3rd. The concert was a part of the

performed in the Capital City Amphitheater area which seats like over 1,000 people I believe. Before
the concert started I noticed that there were a lot of cars out in the parking out and I knew that there
was probably going to be a ton of people out in the audience. I was able to move and roam about the
park freely while listening to the concert. There were people sitting in the seats close by the stage and
others sitting on the ground in the grass area. I like how the stage is set up because it is easy to see the
performers from a far distance and everyone is not so closely seated together. Thankfully the weather

Music of Africa
African Influence in Hip Hop In the 1970s the shockwave that would be known as hip hop rose from
the economic situation of New York City, especially the black and Latino neighborhoods. However,
while hip hop music was born in the Bronx, it both is part of and speaks to a long line of black
American and African cultural traditions. Many observers also make a connection between rap and
West African griot tradition, the art of wandering storytellers known for their knowledge of local
settings and superior vocal skills. Additionally, rhymed verses are an important part of African
American culture in both the public and private realms. A great influence of rap and hip hop which

This African term is defined as rapping or fast pace speaking. This can involve rhyming patterns or
jokingly clowning or making fun of one another. This is where America gets the term Roasting from
and many know it as verbal battle between individuals mostly for entertainment and fun. For its
musical grooves, early hip hop incorporated elements of the party based sound system subculture
popular at the time in Jamaica. DJ Kool Herc also brought a form of the verbal art of toasting to his
parties. Jamaican DJs excited crowds by making up short raps to the beat of music, adding vibes to the
party. The toasts often referred to people in the crowd or to events at the party itself. Dodd took
rapping to Jamaica and Herc brought toasting back to the United States, where it quickly became
known as rap, the verbal side of hip hop music.

Indentured Servants Lived Better Lives Than Slaves in the 18th Century When the colonies were first

slaves both had hard lifestyles but indentured servants lived life easier due to being seen more as

Revisionist states are seen as challengers who wants a new place or share for themselves in global
society proportionate with their power. Revisionist states are generally unsatisfied with their position
in the international society. They have a wish to modify the rules by which affairs among countries
work. Robert Gilpin who is amid pragmatist scholars, offers possibly the most precise discussion of
revisionist and status quo positioning. He simplifies by breaking down the rules of the game into
rather more operationalizable components: the distribution of power, the chain of command of status,
rights and norms that oversee relations among states.
Firstly, how do nation leaders say and act with respect to the exact norms. For example, of regional
diplomacy, of security institutes and of global commercial institutes? Secondly, how do state leaders
express and act in regards to the sharing of power internationally or regionally? Thirdly, how do they
say and act concerning the hierarchy of prestige. For Gilpin revisionist states attempt to basically
modify these three components. Anything less and it becomes challenging to call the state either
revisionist or non status quo. Increased contribution in global institutes may not essentially be a robust
indicator of status quo behaviour. Some might

Cameleon Analysis
3.1.1 FRET based Ca2+ indicators
Cameleons, the first generation of GECIs [161], are chimeric proteins that, in their original iteration,
were composed of a blue or cyan FP as a FRET donor and a green or yellow FP as a FRET acceptor.
The two FPs are connected by CaM and its binding partner M13 (the CaM binding domain of myosin
light chain kinase) (Figure 6A). A similar design with only the CaM binding domain was also reported
in 1997 [162]. When the CaM domain of a cameleon binds to Ca2+, it changes its conformation and
sequentially binds to M13, which results in a more compact conformation that decreases the distance
between the FRET donor and acceptor. This decreased distance causes an increase in FRET efficiency
that manifests itself as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The presence of endogenous interaction partners may interfere with GECI function and lead to
reduced or diminished dynamic range [156]. In 2004, Griesbeck and coworkers engineered a new type
of FRET based GECI, called TN L15, by replacing calmodulin with troponin C (TnC) which interacts
with fewer endogenous proteins [167]. In 2006, Mank et al. reported further improvements in the
dynamic range and kinetics of TnC based indicators by engineering the magnesium and calcium
binding properties within the C terminal lobe. The best variant to arise from that work, TN XL,
exhibits a highly reproducible fluorescence signal with fast rise and decay times, as demonstrated in
the presynaptic motor neurons of transgenic flies [168]. By deletion of low affinity N terminal lobes,
the same group obtained a further improved version of TnC based GECIs, designated TN XXL, with
higher affinity to Ca2+. They demonstrated the usefulness of TN XXL for the chronic imaging in
mouse brain in vivo [163]. Very recently, Thestrup et al. developed a new FRET based indicator
Twitch , based on Opsanus troponin C, with reduced number of Ca2+ binding sites compared to TN
XXL [149]. They optimized the indicator by combining a large functional screen in bacteria with a
secondary screen in rat hippocampal

The Effects Of Coral Bleaching On Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are unique and diverse underwater marine ecosystems that are found in many parts of the
world. Today these tropical reefs suffer a great deal of environmental stresses and are projected to
decline over the next century due to global warming. In Grottoli s article: The cumulative impact of
annual coral bleaching can turn some coral species winners into losers, she elaborates on the effects of
annual bleaching on three species of coral. Grottoli took three species of coral such as O. Faveolata,
P.asreoides P.divaricata and exposed the treatment groups to high temperatures of 31.5 °C for 15 days
while control groups remained at a normal temperature of 30.6 °C for the same amount of days. After
treatment species were then weighed and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such high level of energy reserve is a good indication of over all health and ability to acclimate to
harsh environments. An endosymbiont level is a measurement of other beneficial cells that lives on the
coral and forms a symbiotic relationship. Researchers recorded their results and then repeated the
experiment on the same corals a year later to see the effects of repeated high temperatures as a model
for annual coral bleaching as a result of global warming. Upon completion of the experiment Grottoli
and her team of researchers noted, yearly bleaching can dramatically alter the thermal tolerance of
corals (Grottoli s, 2014). Interestingly enough, while the majority of the species decreased in all
variables compared to controls, P.divaricata increased in energy reserves at about 20 45% higher than
controls after the second treatment. This increase in total energy reserve lead to a reduction in the
susceptibility to coral bleaching for that species. Thus, suggests that this species of coral can adapt to
high temperatures after the first event of bleaching occurs. Conversely, due to its low energy reserves
and its low potential to increase endosymbiont levels, P.asreoides is not likely acclimatize to higher
temperatures thus resulting in low abundance of the species in future

An Analysis Of Toni Morrison s God Help The Child And...
In most people s lives, their relationship with their mother is one of the most important influences on
them. It is because of this unavoidable fact that the main characters in both Toni Morrison s God Help
the Child and Suzan Lori Parks Getting Mother s Body experience many repercussions of the strained
relationship they had with their respective mothers. Both stories revolve around young women who
are finally reaching a point in their lives in which they must face and reconcile with their problems
from the past. In this essay, I will examine and discuss the characters themselves, the relationship
between mother and daughter, and how these relationships affected the outcome of the lives of both
daughters. In order to fully understand the relationships between these characters, it is important to
understand what kind of people they are. Understanding the mothers is especially critical because their
actions played an integral part in shaping their daughters into what they are now. Sweetness and Willa
Mae, from God Help the Child and Getting Mother s Body, respectively, are both very complicated
and interesting figures.
Sweetness, the mother of Bride, is a very hard headed woman who believes in tough love. She is also
cynical, addressing her daughter about her and new grandchild in the last line of the book by saying,
Listen to me. You are about to find out what it takes, how the world is, how it works and how it
changes when you are a parent. Good luck and God help the

The Graveyard Book By Neil Gaiman
The Graveyard Book By Neil Gaiman The Graveyard Book written by Neil Gaiman is a fictional book
published in 2008. The setting in the beginning of the story is in a house in the middle of the night, but
it very quickly transitions to a graveyard. Towards the end, the setting is all throughout the town, in
which the house and graveyard are located. This book is written in the third person point of view.
Having a third person point of view helps the author tell the story the way he wants to by not showing
an emotional connection with the protagonist but still making the reader develop positive emotions
toward the protagonist. In the beginning of the book you are introduced to the antagonist Jack , who is

Which techniques do J. D. Salinger and David Fincher use to explore the personal dilemmas of their
protagonists, Holden Caulfield and Mark Zuckerberg, in The Catcher in the Rye and The Social
Network?
In David Fincher s The Social Network and J. D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, a story of two
young men, Holden Caulfield and Mark Zuckerberg face many difficulties and ultimately are very
vulnerable souls. The dilemmas that Holden and Mark face are alienation, betrayal and identity.
Fincher and Salinger both use many techniques in order to highlight these dilemmas, including setting,
the theme of friendship/loyalty and symbolism.

Mark, unlike Holden was the character in the narrative to betray a fellow character. Mark allowed or
agreed with Sean Parker that Eduardo had to be punished for freezing the account linked to the
company but in the process betrayed the friendship between himself and Eduardo. Even though Mark
may have not been on hundred percent on the decision of dropping Eduardo s share, he still decided to
betray his loyalty of Eduardo by choosing Sean instead, who in the end also betrays Mark. In this case,
it seems that most friendships in The Social Network were never meant to survive; all were meant to
crash and burn. For Holden, he basically expects most people to betray him, he expects most people to
be phoneys and expects all innocence to be lost in most children. Holden constantly feels betrayed
with most of the other characters in the story, which could definitely be a main cause to his mental
problems. Early in the novel, Mr Spencer betrays him. He was one of the few teachers at his school
that Holden could relate with and trust. Spencer had told Holden of his expulsion, and Holden felt
betrayed by his teacher. When Holden returns home to see Phoebe, his young sister, she is
disappointed in him that he had failed to stay in Pency. He thinks that she should accept and be loyal
to him unconditionally, so he feels betrayed. This shows that Holden really could not depend on
anyone because

The Trafficking And Forms Of Human Trafficking Essay
2.1.2 The concept of Human Trafficking and forms of Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is a complex phenomenon hence difficult to conceptualize (Maclnnis, 2012).
Scholars, nations and international organizations have individually or collectively tried to define
human trafficking and, not surprisingly, they disagree with one another. United States (US) for
instance does not consider organ trade as human trafficking whereas the United Nations (UN) and
Canada do (United States Department of State 2010; United Nations 2012). According to Malawi
Human Trafficking Act (2015), trafficking in persons means: recruiting, transportation, transferring,
harbouring, receiving or obtaining a person within or outside the territory of Malawi through the use
of threat or use of force or coercion, abduction, fraud or deception or abuse of power or position,
vulnerability, legal processes or giving or receiving payments to obtain consent of a person having
control of the trafficked person for the purpose of exploitation of the person.
The United Nations under the Palermo Protocol tried to make an internationally agreed definition
which talked about three key elements relating to intent and consent as follows:
Trafficking in persons shall mean the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of
persons, by means of threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of
deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the

A Formal Description For A Youth Gang
Adolescence is a time of life spanning from the ages of 13 till about 25 when the brain has fully
developed. It is a period of life characterized by many up and downs where the individual experiences
multiple personal changes (Gladding, 2012, p. 255). In this time of turbulence young individuals may
enter into groups that society often refers to as gangs. It is accurate to say that gangs contribute
immensely to crime and delinquency however, to say that this is the purpose of all gangs would be
misleading. Gangs should instead be seen as existing on a continuum, some ranging from groups of
peers who spend time together and may get into trouble, to others who participate in more serious
crimes (Gorden, 2000, p. 4). In terms of a specific definition for a gang, there really is not one that has
been fully accepted by all. That being said looking at research a formal description for a youth gang
perhaps would be that it is a self formed group of individuals, consisting of three or more members,
generally ages 13 to 25, who share a sense of identity, and may or may not take part in delinquent
behaviour or crime (Preston Carr Stewart, 2012. P. 1 2). Often time s news stories claim that youth
gangs are on the rise and must be stopped and the members disbanded. However, to pursue this would
be saying that the formation of all gangs are negative and solely for the purpose of delinquent
behaviour and crime, which is not always the case. For society to take an active approach on

Ethmoidal Sinus Research Paper
`The frontal sinus is located above the eye. They are air spaces lined with mucous membrane. The
ethmoid is a pair of paranasal sinuses. They help filter the air that goes into the nasal cavity. These are
located in the ethmoid bone, which has ethmoidal air cells. There is three groups of ethmoidal air

Goals Of Utopia
Utopia
I. Goals values Each citizen of Utopia should value total and complete equality above all else. Total
and complete equality encompasses social matters and governmental matters; no individual is above
another in any capacity. This also applies to dealings with the structure of government: the needs of
the individual are equal to the needs of the government because the government is the people. This is
achieved through the elimination of social hierarchy. Man cannot think of himself as better than his
peers if they are equal parts of a whole. The goal of the utopia is to provide for the community, thus
keeping it sustainable. Everyone works not out of personal benefit, but out of benefit for the
community which will strengthen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
III. Power politics The works of Karl Marx are a crucial part of the foundation of the utopia, as they
outline the overt flaws in a capitalist system and define the economic plan of the utopia. Although not
inherently communistic in every aspect, the dominant political ideology of the utopia is libertarian
socialism. Under libertarian socialism, the citizens can reach their full potential while remaining under
the care of the government for systems such as healthcare and education. By being allowed to the
same opportunities as everyone else from birth, the concept of equality of opportunity is instilled in
each person and is further cemented into the foundations of each individual as they age. Eventually,
they will come to see themselves and others as complete equals, which will give them a better
understanding of their environment and will make for better choices. The utopia will have a horizontal
structure of government and direct participation in creating legislature is voluntary, however everyone
over the age of 19 must vote. All legislation is subject to a vote by the whole public every three
months. For proposed laws, projects or any decisions made by the government to become enforced
legislation, they must be voted on at the end of every three months, creating four quarters in the year.

Spring In A Small Town Themes
After once being banned by the Chinese authorities for its lack of sufficient political grounding, Fei
Mu s Spring in a Small Town upon reintroduction grew to be acknowledged as being among the best
films of Chinese origin ever produced. Following the life of a woman who grows emotionally
distraught upon being compelled to suppress her attraction for her husband s longtime friend and her
secret first and only love. The feelings are re ignited when she meets the husband s friend making the
film much of an emotional tale of yearning, restraint order and regret, concepts the director
ingeniously uses the props and the setting of the play to reproduce. Like poetry on film, Spring in a
Small Town suitably flows packed with a beautiful, rhythmical feel and fundamentally fascinating
symbolism. To demonstrate emotional distraught and complexity, gaps in marriage, and the aspects of
separation, the film ingeniously uses the setting and particularly the different walls of the story
making this film a cinematic success. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

`` The Republic Of Nature `` By Mark Fiege, The Salem...
Pure Perspective
From the mightiest of Redwoods to the tiniest bacterium, nature encapsulates mankind. Nature
surrounds humanity as a sovereign witness to man s most astounding triumphs, and the disgusting
atrocities perpetrated by man against his fellow man. Regardless of the circumstances, nature remains
unbiased in the face of all conflicts and struggles. Nature cannot deceive or mislead like humanity can.
It is for this reason why nature has an ideal perspective to view history. As shown through Mark Fiege
s book The Republic of Nature: an Environmental History of the United States, the lense of nature is
extremely important to both readers and historians alike due to the fact that unlike almost all other
sources, nature is unbiased and honest. This is exemplified through Fiege s exploration of the history
of the the construction of the Lincoln Memorial, the Salem witch trials, and natural law.
Prior to diving into the many new insights that can be comprehended while viewing history through a
natural lense, it is important to define nature in this context. While man is technically a creation of
nature, and therefore nature himself, he shall be excluded from this brief definition of what composes
nature. Here, nature will be considered everything living or otherwise on this earth that is not a
creation or product of humanity. All other creatures and parts of the environment are to be considered
nature.
To introduce the powerful effect of the unbiased lense of nature,

centralized on agriculture, craft production and distribution of goods. The Preclassic Maya royal elites
of El Mirador controlled labor and obtained from farmers living in the suburbs in order to maintain
and sponsor large ceremonies in regional centers. The elites likely had tighter control over agricultural
resources and labor. The degree of economic control achieved by Preclassic elites was enhanced or
limited by the differential distribution and location of water systems and agricultural lands. In El

Written by Margaret K. Pai, the Dreams of Two Yi min narrates the story of her Korean American

characterized by the common perception of the typical Asian immigrant status in the early 20th
century: low class, lack of English speaking ability, lack of transferable education and skills, and lack

Not much is given about his early life and family structure, except that he had three brothers. Since he
could not afford to attend a university in Korea, Kwon applied to work on Hawaii s sugar plantations.
In 1905, the year that the Korean labor supply to Hawaii was cut off, he successfully immigrated as a
seventeen year old sugar plantation laborer with the hopes of fleeing poverty (Pai 4, Takai 238).
Approaching his mid 20 s as a young bachelor, he was working as a yardboy for a Mr. Hackfeld when
his picture bride sailed across the ocean. Afterwards with the help of a friend, Kwon took up a more
respectable job as an apprentice upholsterer at the Coyne Furniture Company. As years passed and he
became noted as one of the most prestigious upholsterers in Hawaii, the company he was working for
shut down, causing him to lose his job in 1928. Young Soon Han states, The most viable businesses
would be the same ones they [Koreans] did before, because...they have only this experience (249).
Just like the solution to the Korean liquor storeowners who lost their businesses in the L.A. riots,
Kwon s solution was to get back into the same business. The only difference was that this time he was
an entrepreneur. Despite Lee s disappointment in her failed pursuit of a college education and the

  • 2. Grant s Defense Strategies In The Battle Of Cold Harbor In the battle of Cold Harbor, Grant planned to attack General Robert E. Lee s army to remove him from the Confederate capital and remove him from the confederate capital. Grant thought that he could overpower General Lee if he could draw him out of his protective barriers and into the open space. Grant had tried to do so before, but he had failed. Because he used a strategy of continuously calling troops to battle, he eventually had to wait until more troops arrived. Due to General Grant s attack ideas, General Lee s defense strategies, and Strategies of placing and protecting troops, The Battle of Cold Harbor was won by the confederacy. The battle strategies used in the north were important to how this battle played out. When grant was planning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The defense strategies of the confederacy led to overpower the union with even less troops. The battle of Cold Harbor ended when Lee won the battle from strong defense strategies against the union, on June 12, 1864. Since this battle was so close to a confederate military base, the confederate military had more protection and more supplies. In the union, 12,737 men died and in the confederate, 4,595 men died in 12 days during the battle of Cold Harbor. Grant had sent in many more troops than the confederate did, so there were fewer men in the confederate who died. Grant ended up pulling out of Cold Harbor once he realized he would not win. • 3. How Did Fillipo Brunelleschi Contribute To The Renaissance As the Renaissance was the rebirth of Greco Roman culture, the architecture in Italy was based off of Classical Roman examples. In that era, an architect s journey to Rome was required to study the buildings and ruins. Italian architecture was created through pillars, columns, arches, domes, and entablatures. Renaissance architecture is one of the most appreciated in the world. Humanist architects wished to construct structures that would connect with people through emotions and reason. Marcus Vitruvius Pollio s architectural writings also helped the Italian architects create a sense of beauty. The two leading architects in the Early Renaissance were Filippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti. Brunelleschi mainly created churches. HIs dome of Florence Basilica was the largest dome in the pre industrial world. This dome is not considered Renaissance work, for it is gothic. Brunelleschi s other full buildings are considered Renaissance, and the most popular of them all is Basilica of San Lorenzo. The exterior has blind arches, while the interior has planar classicism. Alberti was a theorist. He was the most influential architectural theorist in the Early Renaissance. He instructed architects on how to turn old, classic buildings into modern ones. Alberti ... The Church of Santa Maria has a central plan that resembles Bramante s, yet it is not known that he created it. The Palazzo Farnese was designed principally by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. He was Bramate s student. This follows the Renaissance Palazzo layout. It is a three story rectangular building with rows of windows. Rustication was a popular decorative element of the palazzo. • 5. The Boondocks And Black Dynamite Infographic Analysis My goal for this infographic is to represent the stereotypes that are shown in the television series The Boondocks and Black Dynamite by using offensive pictures to induce the shock factor in my audience, but not so much that they lose sight of what is being depicted and why. For example, when determining what image to use for Support Racial Beliefs I was tempted to use a clipart image of the KKK, but realized that it would be too offensive. Instead, I settled for an image of Riley from The Boondocks to represent a show that might support racial beliefs. When designing the infographic, I chose to make the background different variations of the color green to evoke psychological emotions of apprehension, fear, and terror towards the topic (Morin, 2014). I chose this color even though green is known for representing tranquility because the psychological emotions it causes differs when the tones are changed (Morin, 2014). Throughout the infographic, I changed the shades of green as the topics became more serious to induce a certain emotion towards the subject being depicted. At the beginning of the infographic, I chose to use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also did this since the IMR is a serious topic, which discusses the possibility of a person subconsciously committing the actions they have seen in images (Shin et al., 2010; Herbort and Butz, 2012). When choosing an image to represent this topic, I selected an image of a Boondocks DVD cover. I decided to use this image to represent the consequences of the IMR because it makes an excellent example of a cartoon that could cause this event to occur. The other images connected to it represent the possible effects that could take place if the IMR occurred, which would include the brain subconsciously reinforcing stereotypes and enacting racial ... • 6. Analysis Of Where The Wild Things Are Essay Character of Godly Leaders The word character naturally conjures up an array of specific attributes distinctive of an individual or environment. Our earliest experiences with character likely stem from being read classic children s books, like Maurice Sendak s, Where The Wild Things Are, or Dr. Seuss s, Green Eggs and Ham, which portray distinct personality traits within the main character and demonstrate evolution of self as the character acquires knowledge from his or her life experience. Like the characters within our favorite childhood books, each of us represents a malleable being whose shape can transform through the beautiful manifestation of God s glory throughout our life journey. The bible provides countless examples of individuals with an incredible moral foreground on which a sovereign God casts influence upon the body of Christ, from the metamorphosis of the apostle Peter to Jesus the Messiah, yet God himself remains the ultimate testament of character. The immaculate nature of God can be seen within the following excerpt from the book of Exodus, As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, I am the LORD, the LORD. I am the God who is tender and kind. I am gracious. I am slow to get angry. I am faithful and full of love. I continue to show my love to thousands of people. I forgive those who do evil. I forgive those who refuse to obey me. And I forgive those who sin. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing them. I cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Dan Ariely s Predictably Irrational The profound author of Predictably Irrational is Dan Ariely. When Ariely was a young eighteen year old Israeli boy, he suffered serious injuries due to an explosion. Tragically, 70% of his body was covered in third degree burns (xiii). Due to this tragic accident, Ariely became accustomed to an unnatural viewpoint in economics. The daily bath that the nurses gave Ariely made him experience a great deal of irrational fears that were persistent and life changing. Once his wounds had healed, Ariely then sought out to grasp a better understanding of how to better treat patients so that they did not have to experience the irrational fears that Ariely overcame. This allowed him to begin his field of research, leading to the creation of this intellectually profound book. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He thought, why I loved one girl but not another, why my daily routine was comfortable for the physicians but not for me (xiii). These irrational thoughts running through his mind led to a greater understanding of the economics behind making predictable choices/decisions. Furthermore, Ariely wrote this book in order to prove the idea that the rational choices we make on an everyday basis are actually predictably irrational . The discipline that allows Ariely to challenge the way we think is called behavioral economics. According to Ariely the latter, draws on aspects of both psychology and economics (xviii). Ariely accumulated a fascination for behavioral economics. He said, I became engrossed with the idea that we repeatedly and predictably make the wrong decisions in many aspects of our lives and that research could help change some of these patterns Through this quote, we begin to review Ariely s economic journey through various psychological experiments that tested the decision making process of many young ... • 8. Theodor Herzl Research Paper Theodor Herzl: Father of Zionism? Theodor Herzl is often referred to today as the Father of Zionism, a man known for his role in the establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people. His most famous pamphlet, The Jewish State, inspired thousands of Jewish men and women from across the world, although particularly in Europe, to leave their homes to realize the glory of creating their own homeland in Palestine. While Herzl was originally a believer in the gradual assimilation of German and Austrian Jews into the European cultural world, the growing anti Semitism within Europe led him to believe that the only solution to Jewish ostracism was the creation of a separate state for Jews in Palestine. Although Theodor Herzl became, over the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also believed that the Jewish religion was one in a state of moral decay and rot. Herzl believed that centuries long imprisonment in the ghetto had isolated Jews from the mainstream of history, rendering them superstitious and fanatic and made them physically weak, cowardly, and incapable of honest, manual labor (Kornberg 21 2). Herzl was disgusted by what he viewed as the deterioration and filth of the Jewish religion, but at the same time his view that it centuries of domination held the Jew in such a state gave him hope for the future of Judaism after its people were released from the yoke of oppression. It was during Theodor Herzl s youth and early adolescence that a period of anti clericalism arose in the Germanic world, due mainly to Pope Pius IX and his ringing declaration that all religions were not equal and toleration of any religion other than Catholicism was condemned. This sparked a period of great animosity towards the Church, primarily among writers and the artistic community (Kornberg 14). The struggle against the Catholic church in Germany during the 1870s marked a high point of liberal influence and came to be called, in a term coined by a prominent liberal, the Kulturkampf, or the great struggle for civilization in the interests of humanity. In the course of the 1870s, civil marriage was legalized in Germany, church supervision of public education was eliminated, and the state took ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Pros And Cons Of Dishonest Behaviors In College Education Since finding the right employees is getting more competitive as time goes on, it is not odd to say or hear that nowadays college students risk their necks on GPA, especially students from different country or different culture. I believe this caused unstoppable problems in the America college education, such as doctored documents and proxy for an exam or paper are becoming ordinary among English as Second Language students. These unethical behaviors are caused by higher standards in social to be recognized. Students are seeking out for good grades and GPA in order to be fulfill hiring requirements in nowadays. This is why students falsify documents to be accepted by colleges. Also, this is the reason why students buy a paper rather than write a paper. I believe students, who engage in any kind of unethical and dishonest behavior in school, should be punished by school s honor code. In order to be accepted by a college in the United States, students must attain specific conditions. • 11. Psychoactive Drugs Chapter 2 Analysis Chapter two discusses how psychoactive drugs influence our behavior by it reaching the central nervous system first, the most common routes being inhalation, oral administration and injection. I found it interesting that heroin can cross the blood brain barrier a 100 times more than morphine because it is more liquid soluble. Having stress when taking any of the psychoactive drugs only increases the effects it will have on the brain. Chemicals that normally could not go through the blood brain barrier will now have access under stress. Combining stress with the use of psychoactive drugs can lead to more serious risk such as drug toxicity and even overdose. • 12. What Is The Difference Between Arx And Engel s Theory Of... arx and Engels believed that the system at work of labor in society created a general alienation of people from consciousness of their species being ; consciousness of being human. Within this theory of human alienation, Marx and Engels provide three components from which people are generally estranged from: the objects of labor, from nature, and from the labor itself. Plato, in contrast, believed that human alienation lived on the basis of specialization, efficiency, and lack of education. That people, in Socrates Kallipolis, were generally alienated from the Form of the Truth and Ideas. He derails from Marx and Engels in the sense that Plato never believed in an inevitable Communist Revolution, but in a possible political revolution, needed in order to maintain moderation and avoid the clash of ideas in society. Where Marx and Engels believe in communism for the good of economy, Socrates believed in communism for the good of the government and his Republic. Marx and Engels believed that the economy during the Industrial Revolution created a mechanical system in which people came to be alienated from the reality of being a human being. They argue that because society is putting in all of its effort to compete with each other so that production becomes a competition, people lose their sense of living, the sense of themselve, their species being. • 13. Granite What type of minerals are in granite? The minerals that are in granite are Feldspar, Hornblende, Mica, Quartz, and Magnetite. These minerals are in granite because of their color, hardness, streak, luster and their break. These properties are helpful for identifying if the mineral is a part of granite or if it not a part of granite. Many minerals are apart of other rocks just like granite. Granite consists of some minerals like Hornblende and Feldspar. Hornblende is a mineral apart of granite that is black, dark green, and brown. The mineral has a streak of a white, grayish color. The reason that Hornblende is apart of granite is because a scratch test was done on the parts of the granite sample that are the same color as hornblende, the streak on those parts of the granite sample were the exact same color as the Hornblende streak, therefore Hornblende is apart of granite. Feldspar is a mineral that is also apart of granite, Feldspar is white, pink and gray. Feldspar has a streak of the color white and is considered nonmetallic. Revisionist states are generally unsatisfied with their position in the international society. They have a wish to modify the rules by which affairs among countries work. Robert Gilpin who is amid pragmatist scholars, offers possibly the most precise discussion of revisionist and status quo positioning. He simplifies by breaking down the rules of the game into rather more operationalizable components: the distribution of power, the chain of command of status, rights and norms that oversee relations among states. Firstly, how do nation leaders say and act with respect to the exact norms. For example, of regional diplomacy, of security institutes and of global commercial institutes? Secondly, how do state leaders express and act in regards to the sharing of power internationally or regionally? Thirdly, how do they say and act concerning the hierarchy of prestige. For Gilpin revisionist states attempt to basically modify these three components. Anything less and it becomes challenging to call the state either revisionist or non status quo. Cameleon Analysis 3.1.1 FRET based Ca2+ indicators Cameleons, the first generation of GECIs [161], are chimeric proteins that, in their original iteration, were composed of a blue or cyan FP as a FRET donor and a green or yellow FP as a FRET acceptor. The two FPs are connected by CaM and its binding partner M13 (the CaM binding domain of myosin light chain kinase) (Figure 6A). A similar design with only the CaM binding domain was also reported in 1997 [162]. When the CaM domain of a cameleon binds to Ca2+, it changes its conformation and sequentially binds to M13, which results in a more compact conformation that decreases the distance between the FRET donor and acceptor. This decreased distance causes an increase in FRET efficiency that manifests itself as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The presence of endogenous interaction partners may interfere with GECI function and lead to reduced or diminished dynamic range [156]. In 2004, Griesbeck and coworkers engineered a new type of FRET based GECI, called TN L15, by replacing calmodulin with troponin C (TnC) which interacts with fewer endogenous proteins [167]. In 2006, Mank et al. reported further improvements in the dynamic range and kinetics of TnC based indicators by engineering the magnesium and calcium binding properties within the C terminal lobe. The best variant to arise from that work, TN XL, exhibits a highly reproducible fluorescence signal with fast rise and decay times, as demonstrated in the presynaptic motor neurons of transgenic flies [168]. By deletion of low affinity N terminal lobes, the same group obtained a further improved version of TnC based GECIs, designated TN XXL, with higher affinity to Ca2+. They demonstrated the usefulness of TN XXL for the chronic imaging in mouse brain in vivo [163]. Very recently, Thestrup et al. developed a new FRET based indicator Twitch , based on Opsanus troponin C, with reduced number of Ca2+ binding sites compared to TN XXL [149]. Grottoli took three species of coral such as O. Such high level of energy reserve is a good indication of over all health and ability to acclimate to harsh environments. An endosymbiont level is a measurement of other beneficial cells that lives on the coral and forms a symbiotic relationship. Researchers recorded their results and then repeated the experiment on the same corals a year later to see the effects of repeated high temperatures as a model for annual coral bleaching as a result of global warming. Upon completion of the experiment Grottoli and her team of researchers noted, yearly bleaching can dramatically alter the thermal tolerance of corals (Grottoli s, 2014). Interestingly enough, while the majority of the species decreased in all variables compared to controls, P.divaricata increased in energy reserves at about 20 45% higher than controls after the second treatment. This increase in total energy reserve lead to a reduction in the susceptibility to coral bleaching for that species. Thus, suggests that this species of coral can adapt to high temperatures after the first event of bleaching occurs. Conversely, due to its low energy reserves and its low potential to increase endosymbiont levels, P.asreoides is not likely acclimatize to higher temperatures thus resulting in low abundance of the species in future ... The Trafficking And Forms Of Human Trafficking Essay 2.1.2 The concept of Human Trafficking and forms of Human Trafficking Human trafficking is a complex phenomenon hence difficult to conceptualize (Maclnnis, 2012). Scholars, nations and international organizations have individually or collectively tried to define human trafficking and, not surprisingly, they disagree with one another. United States (US) for instance does not consider organ trade as human trafficking whereas the United Nations (UN) and Canada do (United States Department of State 2010; United Nations 2012). According to Malawi Human Trafficking Act (2015), trafficking in persons means: recruiting, transportation, transferring, harbouring, receiving or obtaining a person within or outside the territory of Malawi through the use of threat or use of force or coercion, abduction, fraud or deception or abuse of power or position, vulnerability, legal processes or giving or receiving payments to obtain consent of a person having control of the trafficked person for the purpose of exploitation of the person. The United Nations under the Palermo Protocol tried to make an internationally agreed definition which talked about three key elements relating to intent and consent as follows: Trafficking in persons shall mean the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the ... It is a period of life characterized by many up and downs where the individual experiences multiple personal changes (Gladding, 2012, p. 255). In this time of turbulence young individuals may enter into groups that society often refers to as gangs. It is accurate to say that gangs contribute immensely to crime and delinquency however, to say that this is the purpose of all gangs would be misleading. Gangs should instead be seen as existing on a continuum, some ranging from groups of peers who spend time together and may get into trouble, to others who participate in more serious crimes (Gorden, 2000, p. 4). In terms of a specific definition for a gang, there really is not one that has been fully accepted by all. That being said looking at research a formal description for a youth gang perhaps would be that it is a self formed group of individuals, consisting of three or more members, generally ages 13 to 25, who share a sense of identity, and may or may not take part in delinquent behaviour or crime (Preston Carr Stewart, 2012. P. 1 2). Often time s news stories claim that youth gangs are on the rise and must be stopped and the members disbanded. However, to pursue this would be saying that the formation of all gangs are negative and solely for the purpose of delinquent behaviour and crime, which is not always the case. Power politics The works of Karl Marx are a crucial part of the foundation of the utopia, as they outline the overt flaws in a capitalist system and define the economic plan of the utopia. Although not inherently communistic in every aspect, the dominant political ideology of the utopia is libertarian socialism. Under libertarian socialism, the citizens can reach their full potential while remaining under the care of the government for systems such as healthcare and education. By being allowed to the same opportunities as everyone else from birth, the concept of equality of opportunity is instilled in each person and is further cemented into the foundations of each individual as they age. Eventually, they will come to see themselves and others as complete equals, which will give them a better understanding of their environment and will make for better choices. The utopia will have a horizontal structure of government and direct participation in creating legislature is voluntary, however everyone over the age of 19 must vote. All legislation is subject to a vote by the whole public every three months. For proposed laws, projects or any decisions made by the government to become enforced legislation, they must be voted on at the end of every three months, creating four quarters in the year. Nature surrounds humanity as a sovereign witness to man s most astounding triumphs, and the disgusting atrocities perpetrated by man against his fellow man. Regardless of the circumstances, nature remains unbiased in the face of all conflicts and struggles. Nature cannot deceive or mislead like humanity can. It is for this reason why nature has an ideal perspective to view history. As shown through Mark Fiege s book The Republic of Nature: an Environmental History of the United States, the lense of nature is extremely important to both readers and historians alike due to the fact that unlike almost all other sources, nature is unbiased and honest. This is exemplified through Fiege s exploration of the history of the the construction of the Lincoln Memorial, the Salem witch trials, and natural law. Prior to diving into the many new insights that can be comprehended while viewing history through a natural lense, it is important to define nature in this context. While man is technically a creation of nature, and therefore nature himself, he shall be excluded from this brief definition of what composes nature.
