An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer
Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet interaction between a
granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the poem,
I believe the meaning of the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother never
experienced, and the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced heaven and she
is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to hear more about the
purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how you can make yourself an angel by just
lying down and waving your arms (Cofer). These lines describe winter as a place where angels are
made. It mentions that even when the snow touches you, it is a feeling of purification. This symbolizes
that heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you.
The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect snow to death.
Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a connection to what she was saying, so
that they could grasp a better understanding. An example of a simile can be found in lines 6 7: the
Caribbean sun winds up the world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is comparing two unlike
things, the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection. The Caribbean sun is
what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile adds to the poem s
meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives and that is warmth in her home in the
Caribbean.
There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to visualize what the
author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of where the grandmother lives in the
Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with the winter weather, and how heaven looks through the
eyes of the granddaughter s comparison to winter. As I read through the poem several time, I looked
for some mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a breeze again before the
cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a Christian belief that when you die
you will go to heaven. I wondered how long grandma

Construction Of Construction Projects Project Manager
1. Construction is one of the major industry which involves a huge amount of capital and requires
human resources, equipment s, tools, materials and proper technique (Project Management Institute,
2013). In construction projects project manager is required to fulfil the needs of the client in terms of
terms of cost, timely delivery and quality. Project manager is the one who identifies the various
processes required to carry the project and is responsible for the various activities, relative dependency
among the various activities to carry out the process and thus, the construction (Project Management
Institute, 2004). Tinnirello (1999) points out that in order to complete the project on time and in
definite budget a project manager must keep track on all the activities and actual processes. A study by
Gregory (2011) shows that to fulfil the expectations and needs of the client project manager must
apply proper skills, techniques and knowledge in the project. According to Sharlett (2009), the manner
or way in which project manager supervise the project has the direct influence on the result of the
project. To get a utmost benefit for the money invested in a project, the project manager must have a
reliable team consisting of skilled human resources and the project manager shall work as a team
leader to carry out the project within the cost limit. (Herkeens G.R, second edition, 2014)

Ethanol Vs Biofuels
Biofuels are better than traditional fuels because they decrease the national dependency on foreign
fuel. The Minnesota biofuel association provides the article ETHANOL AND REDUCING FOREIGN
OIL DEPENDENCY expressing how the dependency of fuels decrease due to biofuels. ethanol has
helped America lessen its dependency on foreign oil. In fact, increased production of renewable fuels
such as ethanol were key components of the Energy (1). Biofuel contains materials that are found
locally. Therefore, there would be no need to find fuels in foreign places. There would be no need to
go underground or under the sea to find fuels. It would also decrease the dangers many people put
themselves through in order to find the fuel. Also the article what

The Impacts of the Emergence of Sociology on the Works of...
The emergence of sociology as a discipline is a result of the social, economic, political and
technological developments in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In this essay, the adequacy of
this viewpoint will be analysed by pointing out these developments and highlighting their impact on
the works of Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx and Max Weber. The three are considered because they are
regarded as the pioneers of sociology. Furthermore, the relevance of the early work of the above to
modern sociology will be highlighted.
The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was a period characterised by large population growth
coupled with a large demographic shift. This was aided by technological innovations such as the
development of railroads and the steam engine. The demographic shift was mainly to urban areas
where there was rapid growth and development in the manufacturing industry. The developments were
driven by curious scientists and professionals who were extending the influence of large institutions,
in biology, banking and etc., to larger portions of the society. The consequence was the emergence of a
capitalist society.
The chaos and social disorder that resulted from the series of political revolutions ushered in by the
French Revolution in 1789 disturbed many early social theorists. While they recognized that a return
to the old order was impossible, they sought to find new sources of order in societies that had been
traumatized by dramatic political changes.

Compare And Contrast Relative Dating And Radioactive Dating
There is multiple ways to determine the age of fossils. Two well known techniques are relative dating
and radioactive dating. Even though they are similar, they both come at the situation a different way.
They are both different and they have their own techniques. Relative dating uses the location within
the rocks layers. Radioactive dating uses information that they gather from the decay of radioactive
substances within an object. What s the difference in relative and radioactive dating? All though, both
of these techniques are used for the same thing, they are very different from each other. They both use
different types of things to measure how old the fossils are. Radioactive dating is something that
people use to determine the age of rocks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were able to learn about dinosaurs and how old they were and when they were discovered by
radioactive dating. Radioactive dating allows scientist to record things in the past. In order to do this,
they have to use the ratios of isotopes to determine the age of the rocks and fossils. Some chemicals
that they use in radioactive dating are Carbon, uranium and potassium. Each one of these elements are
made up of atoms. In each atom, there is a nucleus. Inside of that, we find a neutron, and when they
become unstable, they let go of energy. When they let go of this energy, it is called radioactivity. It
occurs when the nucleus has an excessive amount of neutrons. The variation of neutrons are called
isotopes. Isotopes are a form of an element that are unstable. When going through radioactivity, the
unstable isotopes break down and form a new element. The isotopes are never destroyed but they turn
into something else. As far as the accuracy goes, people are proven to believe that this is a very
accurate method. They say this because radioactive dating is based on radioactive decay of unstable
isotopes. They have ways of proving that this method is in fact correct and very accurate. They say
that radioactive

Impact Of Rock Roll On American Youth
The Impact of Rock Roll on American Youth Camille Yang U.S. History Ms. Dunn May 18, 2017 The
decade of the 1960s can be said to be a subversion of the United States. From the civil rights
movements, anti Vietnam war demonstration, Kennedy s presidency, to the assassination of the civil
rights leader Martin Luther King, the impact of the surging social movements and political turmoils to
the American society is extremely far reaching. There has been a lot of researches on the various
social movements in this period. However, people s attention seems to be limited to another important
cultural phenomenon of this period, that is the prosperity of rock roll. This paper is intended to

It replaced the old culture patterns of the fifties 2, allowing American youth to quickly integrate them
into their lifestyles. This recognition of the black culture made a large part of the Caucasian youth and
African Americans to stand side by side in the civil rights movements, to support national equality,
and to challenge the old racial concept. This was also represented by the American folk rock of the
sixties. Folk rock in the sixties inherited the tradition of country and western. In the 1960s, the main
representatives of folk rock were Joan Baez, The Byrds, Bob Dylan, and so on. However, the most
important folk rock singer is Bob Dylan, who was the first and the most important folk rock music
creator. Known as the protest song singer , for the entire 1960s, Bob Dylan s music strongly affected
young people that were in the wandering and confusion. It was like a banner, a totem, and a pioneer,

Are White Women Attracted To Black Men
Are White Women Attracted To Black Men? Talking about interracial dating and marriage, it is
different strokes for different folks. A lot of white women are attracted to black men and a lot of black
women are also attracted to white men. However, most people don t really set out for this. It just
happens by chance. Most black men dating white women and most white men dating black women did
not plan it. They just fell in love with someone from a different race. Think of it, race is usually the
last thing you will look for in a spouse. Most times, people concentrate on body chemistry, honesty,
faithfulness and being caring. However, there are several benefits in black white dating and that is
why you will find some white women looking for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you date someone in another race, you will have the chance to learn his beliefs and cultures too.
Unfortunately, some people see this as a problem while it is a blessing. There is beauty and strength in
diversity. Apart from that, knowing about several cultures makes you a better person because you will
be able to relate better with people from other culture. More successful relationship Of course, there is
someone for everyone. This is not a myth. It is true. A lot of people do not believe this because they
believe that the person for you should be perfect and never wrong you. The person for you is not an
angel so don t expect him or her to be perfect. Having said that, what if the person for you belongs to a
different race from yours? As mentioned earlier, there is someone for everyone and the one for some
people may not come from their race. It is not uncommon for families of both parties to disapprove the
an interracial relationship. So, just like how you will do anything to prove the family of your spouse
wrong, (s)he will also want to prove your own family wrong too. This is why parties of black white
relationships are usually more determined to make it work. In conclusion, for some reasons, some
white women are attracted to black men and some black women are attracted to white men and there

Themes In The Alchemist
Always Be You
Have you ever just been yourself and done something nice and felt better? You might not know the joy
you caused, but lots of people do nice things for example helping an old lady cross the street. You may
not know it, but you probably made that person s day by just being yourself and lending a helping
hand. In the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago learns, When we strive to become better
than we are, everything around us becomes better, too. On his journey, Santiago encounters a king and
learns some important lessons. Second, Santiago works at a crystal shop to earn money and helps the
shopkeeper make money. Finally, Santiago learns about courage from the Alchemist. First, Santiago
meets with a king and watches as a butterfly flutters around. For example, when Santiago is meeting
with an old man that once was a king he spots something. He remembered that his grandfother once
told him that the butterfly flying around them was a good omen (32). Santiago is sees a butterfly
flapping it s wings and he remembers that his grandfather told him about it and how it would make
people feel good about themselves. Santiago offers a trade to the man. He trades his sheep and in
return, the man helps him begin his journey. He thinks that this deal will make the old king feel good
about himself just like the butterfly made him feel. Finally, this is important because Santiago is
pursuing his dreams and traveling and as a result, he hopes to have made the old

The Imagery Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare
The imagery of Macbeth institutes a dark, evil aura that surrounds nearly every aspect of the play.
Images of evil beings, murder, as well as the natural and supernatural help to set this sinister mood
throughout the play. The three witches are a dominant source of evil in Macbeth. They are the first
characters introduced, emphasizing their significance in the play as well as their aura of darkness.
Their first meeting takes place in thunder and lightening, a dark, chaotic, and dangerous environment,
which sets the tone and atmosphere for the rest of the play . They also use a multitude of paradoxical
and contradictory statements, indicating a sense of deception (1.1.2 10). They say that the battle,
referring to the battle between Scotland, led by Banquo and Macbeth, and the armies of Ireland and
Norway, will be ere the set of sun, (1.1.5). The witches mean that this battle will be finished by the
time the sun has set, leaving any following events to occur in darkness. In their second meeting, their
evil and power is accentuated when they describe their actions; killing swine and wrecking the ships
of sailors (1.3. 2 30). This foreshadow s the dark consequences of their meeting with Macbeth.
Furthermore, the witches act as Macbeth s stimulus into a descent into evil. The witches take
advantage of Macbeth s covert desire for power, and influence him to fulfill his own prophecy, to
quench their own desire for a world of chaos. The line, All hail Macbeth that shalt be King

Timothy Lloyd Essay
It was an early morning on July 31, 1996 when a worker logged in to his computer and triggered a
malicious code that instructed the system to delete the software that Omega Engineering company ran
in it is manufacturing operations. The criminal behind this was a man named Timothy Lloyd. He
worked for 11 years and as some point during his working experience with the company, he became
the network s administrator. He was part of the creation of this network, a system he knew all too well.
Three weeks after he was fired, this malicious software code was activated. He created six lines of
code, which they called a time bomb to detonate without him having to be present. This so called
bomb when triggered, was set to delete critical manufacturing software, bringing the file server down,
also bringing the hub of the network down and costing the company millions of dollars. They
designed and created software for the NASA and the U.S. Navy., so they were also affected by this
sabotage. They eventually had to lay off 80 workers due to damage of this sabotage. Lloyd also made
sure he took the backup tapes and formatted them, deleting everything and making sure nothing was
saved. He did this after receiving a call from the Secret Service. The Omega ... Show more content on

The Cuban Revolutionary Movement Of Cuba
The Cuban revolutionary movement is still remembered today as a significant cause of what has come
of Cuba today but more importantly by the people who were involved. One who played a significant
role for his effort to overthrow the Cuban and Bolivian government was Che Guevara. Che Guevara
became involved in political change when he was on a trip in Cuba where he met Fidel Castro. At the
time, Fidel Castro wanted to overthrow the government which was under control of Fulgencio Batista.
Guevara s admiration to Castro and commitment made him his second in command. Batista fled and
Fidel Castro took over, while Che Guevara worked on sparking other revolutions throughout Latin
America, one in specific which would be his last, was in Bolivia.
Throughout Latin America, several women were also getting involved in social movements, however,
one in particular sought to make a change in Cuba and set foot into Che Guevara s revolution
movement. Haydee Tamara Bunke Bider also known as Tania worked close with Che Guevara during
the revolutionary war in Cuba. Tania was an agent for the East German Ministry of State Security.
Worked as a translator in the Cuban delegation, then after joined the militia. Che Guevara hired Tania
to work with him on an undercover mission. She received special training to participate in the guerilla
movement. While on her mission in Bolivia she took on another name hiding her identity, she was
known as Laura Gutierrez Baur. Che Guevara wrote in his

Technology And The Human Computer Interface
There are certain technology programs that are emerging in the software industry that have key uses.
These current technologies are those that surround the human computer interface. As a software
engineer, I will use this paper to describe the term Haptic Feedback, its key uses and why it is needed.
In addition, I will compare the various types of human memory mentioning their impact on the human
computer interface. I will also give a detailed description of the potential outcomes of not making use
of consistency in the human computer interface, summarize and explain the steps of user centric
design process and the role of human motion in the human computer interface.
Haptic Feedback Haptic can be defined as the science of applying the touch sensation as well as
control to guide human interactions with the computer applications. This is done using the special
devices such as data gloves and joysticks to enable users to receive computer application feedback in
form of a felt body part sensation, especially the hand. In that regard, it can be deemed that Haptic
Feedback is the feedback that users derive from the interaction with computer applications that is only
felt, not heard or seen. The key uses of Haptic Feedback are in the image outlines delineated by the
feel sensation in a way like object simulation in a location near the user. In this way, it can be used in
the training of individuals to perform tasks that require hand and eye coordination, including space

Short Summary of the Great Gatsby
Biography of F. Scott Fitzgerald
About F. Scott Fitzgerald
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896, the only son of an aristocratic father
and a provincial, working class mother. He was therefore the product of two divergent traditions:
while his father s family included the author of The Star Spangled Banner (after whom Fitzgerald was
named), his mother s family was, in Fitzgerald s own words, straight 1850 potato famine Irish. As a
result of this contrast, he was exceedingly ambivalent about the notion of the American dream: for
him, it was at once vulgar and dazzlingly promising. It need scarcely be noted that such fascinated
ambivalence is itself typically American.
Like the central character of The Great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fitzgerald s own divided nature can be seen in the contrast between the novel s hero, Jay Gatsby, and
its narrator, Nick Carraway. The former represents the naive Midwesterner dazzled by the possibilities
of the American dream; the latter represents the compassionate Princeton gentleman who cannot help
but regard that dream with suspicion. The Great Gatsby may be described as the most profoundly
American novel of its time; Fitzgerald connects Gatsby s dream, his Platonic conception of himself,
with the aspirations of the founders of America.
A year later, Fitzgerald published a collection of short stories entitled All the Sad Young Men. This
book marks the end of the most productive period of Fitzgerald s life; the next decade was full of
chaos and misery. Fitzgerald himself began to drink excessively, and Zelda began a slow descent into
madness. In 1930 she suffered her first mental breakdown; her second breakdown, from which she
never fully recovered, came in 1932.
Throughout the 1930s the Fitzgeralds fought an ultimately unsuccessful battle to save their marriage.
This struggle was tremendously debilitating for Fitzgerald; he later said that he left [his] capacity for
hoping on the little roads that led to Zelda s sanitarium. He did not finish his next novel, Tender Is the
Night, until 1934. It is the story of a psychiatrist who marries one of his patients, who, as she slowly
recovers, exhausts his vitality until he is a man used up. This book, the

The Daily Life Of The Olmecs In Mexico
2. The Olmecs The Olmecs were the earliest civilization to settle in Mexico around 1200 BCE to 400
BCE. The daily life of the Olmecs included farming, weaving, pottery, and games. The men would go
out and farm squash, beans, sweet potatoes, and even tomatoes. Men also would fish. While the men
were farming and fishing, the women would stay home and cook. They would also weave and make
pottery. An important game the Olmecs would play is pok a tok . Another part of their daily life was
trade. The Olmecs would trade all sorts of things such as, pottery, statues, figurines, obsidian,
serpentine, etc. In return the Olmecs wanted things that were not normally native to their part of the
world. Finally, the Olmecs believed that stone faces would help lookover and protect their society.
Some technology that the Olmecs used that we still use today, includes compass, had a form of
writing, used math, calendars, and cocoa. Those were just a few of the things they used back then that
we still put to use today. The Mayans The Mayans have an interesting background all because we don
t know for sure how they disappeared. To start it all off the Mayans flourished between 2000 BC to
about 1697 AD. The Mayan men would go out in the morning to farm and come back in the evening
for dinner. While the husbands were gone, the wives would get up and start cooking. Something that
the Mayans thought was important was bathing, so once the men got home they would clean up.

Brookfield Critical Reflection
One thing that was really emphasized in this class is critical reflection. According to Brookfield
critical reflection is the process of analyzing, reconsidering and questioning experiences within a
broad context of issues . This is necessary for anyone working in a people centered job or in human
services. Critical reflection allows us to tackle our assumptions and actions and address where this
comes from. There are 3 different phases of the critical reflection process. The first is deconstruction.
This is where we take the case or moment apart, this where we deconstruct our attitudes surrounding
the circumstances. The next step is resistance and challenge. This is where we ask why and what this
means. The last step is reconstruction. In this step we put together everything that we have learned
from this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before actively learning about critical reflection, I did not understand how important it is to develop
this skill. With my previous work in SDMA or as a mentor, I did complete some type of critical
reflection but it was more large scale at the end of large periods of time. I found this reflection was not
very helpful because of at it was not as useful at the end of the semester or at the mid point of
semester. I think this is because it is more helpful after every interaction because then it is the best
way to address all of these interactions. As a mentor, it s important to really pay attention to my
interactions with my mentees because this is the basis of my relationship with them. There are a lot of
times of when I need to deconstruct my feelings and attitudes. This is often the case for my mentees,
with them being only a year younger and the growth of our relationship, there are some interactions
that I look back at and think I maybe should not have had done or said some of the things I did do.
This is me deconstructing these interactions, the attitudes that I had, were not appropriate for this

Psychedelic Musicians in Rock and Roll
In 1967 the Beatles were in Abbey Road Studios putting the finishing touches on their album Sgt.
Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band. At one point Paul McCartney wandered down the corridor and

There s a new band in there and they re gonna steal our thunder. With their mix of blues, music hall

The zeitgeist of the time was the final collapse of a certain kind of thinking. The seeds were sown for
feminism, for the whole notion of cyberspace, ecology, and the whole philosophy of Gaia. Suzy
Hopkins, formerly Suzy Creamcheese, a dancer and inspirational figure on the underground scene in
Los Angeles and London, remembers the visceral way psychedelic culture affected the senses. There s
a difference between a drug and a psychedelic. Drugs make you drugged and psychedelics enhance
your ability to see the truth or reality, she says. For her, LSD and music created a kind of alchemy.
When I start to dance, at a certain point, the dance takes over and the music is dancing me. Dancing is
this electric enhancement of your spine by sound. Many psychedelic bands explored this sense of
abandonment in their music, moving away from standard rock rhythms and instrumentation. The

Country Music Comparison Research Paper
With the main focus of my first music comparison essay being on the country signer Taylor Swift and
the rap artist Eminem, id like to try to compare the two different genres of music instead of comparing
and contrasting two other artists. I will attempt this by explaining the similarities and differences of
the music genre Rap, and the music genre Country by examining the elements of music for each
genre. Along with the elements of music, ill also examine why country music has a fan base that is
much older while most of the Rap listeners are todays youth. To start off, Rap music has always had
the views of being a very rebellious type of music that doesn t always portray the best image. In many
of today s songs, rappers rap about guns, violence, and drugs, which turns a lot of people away.

Many country music songs are about family and the small things in life that are most important such

portrayed through the lyrics. Another thing that country music artist do a great job at is creating their
songs so that they are very easy to relate to and that its not all about the money or cars. I believe that
country music also focuses more on the harmony aspect for the elements of music, which gives it a
more peaceful feel to the songs and something that you can listen to in the car on your way home from
work. However, I also believe that Country music does a wonderful job on telling stories through their

The Universal Truth In The First Death In Nova Scotia
The poem First Death In Nova Scotia deals with one of the most difficult universal truths that we have
to face death. This poem was written about Bishops first encounter with death, the death of her cousin
Arthur. Her cousins real name was Frank, Bishop used poetic licence and changed his name to Arthur
to suit the fairytale aspect of the poem. I felt that the fairytale aspect of the poem shows the child s
confusion at what has happened. The references to royalty, Edward,Prince Of Wales with Princess
Alexandra, and King George with King Mary shows a detachment to whats happening, a need to
distract herself from the awful reality. The universal truth in this is that humans fear and are

it is constantly being challenged, reformed, and changed. When trying to create a black and white set
of laws, it is nearly impossible to encompass multiple cultures, for example many European countries
are doing away with capital punishment, which has been in practice for thousands of years, because of
the cultural shift deeming it as cruel and unusual punishment and while in America there are still states
that utilize capital punishment, it is obviously there is a similar trend here in its decline of supporters.
There are many contemporary methods used in societies of mixed cultures. There are many motions
set into place to create a fair and level justice system for all of the people who may come into contact
with it. On the most basic level, there is a trial given to those accused of a crime in front of a jury of
their peers, with emphasis on a jury of peers. This is important because it allows the jurors to have an

However, in today s classroom that is exactly what is expected. In a culturally responsive classroom,
effective teaching and learning occur in a culturally supported, learner centered context, whereby the
strengths students bring to school are identified, nurtured, and utilized to promote student achievement
(Richards, Brown, Forde, 2007).

Thematic Essay On The Book Of Jonah
The Book of Jonah
Set around 770 750 BC (Hindson Towns, 2013, p. 293), the book of Jonah is found within the Minor
Prophets. Unlike the other books in this genre, Jonah provides a personal narrative carved from a
portion of the life of a prophet instead of the word of God spoken through a prophet. While the book
does not identify Jonah as the author outright, he is widely believed to be so. In the book of Jonah,
God commands Jonah to go to Nineveh, an Assyrian city located near modern day Mosul, Iraq.
Instead, he sails west from Joppa on the Mediterranean Sea away from Nineveh toward Tarshish
(Jonah 1:1 3 New American Standard). While on the voyage, God causes a great storm to come upon
the ship and Jonah is reluctantly thrown overboard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exact dates that he lived are not known but it is believed to be between 1050 1000 BC (Hindson
Towns, 2013, p. 112). He was likely born in Bethlehem (Ruth 2:4) and was a wealthy relative of
Elimelech, Ruth s father in law, (Ruth 2:1) as well. Boaz probably took an active role in overseeing
the work in his fields as evidenced by his presence there. When he noticed his widowed relative, Ruth,
gleaning the leftovers from the harvesters, he showed her kindness and gave her protection in his
fields (Ruth 2:5 9). Ruth requested that Boaz redeem her according to the custom of the time and he
accepted on the condition that the relative that was closer in line to Elimilech be given the first chance.
He later claimed the right of redemption by purchasing Naomi s land and marrying Ruth (Ruth 4:9
10). This marriage began the lineage of David with the birth of Obed and eventually to Jesus (Ruth
4:16 22). Boaz s role as redeemer was a foreshadowing of the redemptive act of Jesus Christ. Boaz
married an outsider and grafted her into the family lineage just as Jesus accepts all who believe in Him
including gentiles into the kingdom of heaven (Rom

The Generation Of Electricity By Photovoltaic Cells Essay
PHOTOVOLTAICS PIYUSH PIYUSH ID 101317400 ABSTRACT The report covers the generation
of electricity by photovoltaic cells. The main idea of this report is to provide knowledge to the scholar
about the photovoltaic power generation and how we can use PV cells for the production of electricity.
In this report there is an explanation of how PV cells can be used for the production of electricity. The
report consists of how concentrating collectors, thin film technology, building integrated systems and
flat plate collectors can be used. The material used for the production of photovoltaic cells are
polycrystalline silicon, thin film materials and single crystal. The report consists of manufacturing
technology used in the production of photovoltaic cells and how we can improve the cell efficiency
and other monetary aspects of photovoltaic technology. However, the photovoltaic efficiency and
production costs has not reached up to the highest level because of the cost related issues and this
technology is not able to replace the conventional sources of energy such as coal, gas and nuclear
powered generating facilities. Photovoltaic power is used in remote applications such as
communications, villages and homes in many developing countries. In many areas the rooftop
installation of solar panels is smaller but it is rapidly increasing at a great pace. As the industrial
sciences narrow down the cost gap, more applications are increasing and the use of photovoltaic panel
has increased.

Computer And The Four Components Of Modern Computers
1) What made modern computers possible Is The invention that could do calculations and other
information with no moving parts. Which was electronic components. Electronic components a fast
efficient machine such as Babbage (who designed the mechanical calculating machines that are the
ancestor of computers today) proposed could be built with all four components essential to modern
computing.
2) What are four components essential to modern computing Input, Storage, Processor, Output A
toaster is a way to show the four parts of a computer. Input just as a computer the raw data which will
be as bread for a toaster goes in. Storage The information gets stored just as you are turning the dial
for the toaster Processor It will then be processed just as the bread toast Output will be the final result
(the bread being toasted) The difference between them however is a computer work with software that
makes it figure out what to do with the input you give. Software gives the computer the ability to
process many different things, while a toaster can just process bread. Another difference is the fact a
computer has a microprocessor. Which is used for used to read different tasks.
3) How do computers receive input There was a time where computers received input by flipping
switches, and plugging wire, and put holes in cards to input It data.

Aircraft Scheduling and Fleet Management
The primary considerations for airline scheduling are routes that provide optimum public
service...consistent with the financial health of the carrier (Wensveen, 2011). In addition to that, there
are numerous other factors that must be taken into account. These factors include: equipment
maintenance, crews, facilities, marketing factors, and other factors such as wind patterns and what I
would call rush hour . The aircraft must be scheduled so as to allow adequate time for routine
maintenance, as well as a buffer to meet unscheduled maintenance requirements. Crews must be
scheduled with adequate crew rest periods allowed, as well as avoiding over flying the maximum
hours as directed by the Federal Aviation Regulations. Facilities ... Show more content on

To accomplish this, Great Lakes Airlines relies heavily on the EAS program. After deregulation, the
EAS was established so that the small, rural areas that had reaped the benefits of air service prior to
1978 would continue to do so. Because these small routes are not profitable for airlines to provide
service to, they are heavily subsidized by the government. Since 2001, the percentage of revenue from
the EAS program (as a percentage of gross revenue) has been as low as 19% and as high as 50%. In
2013 this number was at 42% (Nickerson, 2013). Great Lakes is also able to rely on these subsidies to
keep their pricing competitive with other airlines. They also reap the benefits of being able to offer
access to United s and Frontier s frequent flyer programs as a method of keeping themselves
competitive. For the promotion portion, Great Lakes relies on its internet website, code share partners
websites, the Delta.com website, global distributions systems (travel agencies and travel agent
websites) and our reservation system s call center (US SEC, 2013). As for place, Great Lakes services
the small regional airports that the majors don t fly into. Because it just would not be profitable for the
larger airlines to operate into these smaller airports, Great Lakes (along with the other small regionals)
have carved out a niche.

Chocolat Gender Roles
Women have often been perceived as a weak individual in society. Being able to transform and break
through from traditions is tremendously critical for women. In the film Chocolat, gender role plays a
massive component in the story line. It can be told through the main character Vianne Rocher, feisty
mother Armande, battered wife Josephine Muscat, and widow Madam Audel. Each one of this
character has their special way of demonstrating their gender role throughout the movie.
Vianne Rocher and her daughter Anouk travel to a quiet French village that strictly follows to
tradition, as led by the village mayor, Comte Paul de Reynaud. Upon their arrival, the villagers were
just starting their forty days of Lent. Vianne found the landlord Armande to open a chocolate shop.
When Comte Paul de Reynaud approached Vianne regarding going to church on Sunday, Vianne
disclosed that she does not go to church. This angers Comte Paul de Reynaud because he thinks this is
a sinful act. Vianne showcase women that do not follow traditions to go to church every Sunday;
nevertheless, Vianne opened her store on the day when all villagers ... Show more content on

She was restricted from seeing her grandson, Luc as Caroline thinks that Armande is a bad influence.
Armande was the first person that visited Vianne s shop. Observing Armande brought a number of
perspectives into the play. She practically resembles an older version of Vianne. She has not gone to
church, have her on standpoints on issues, and were the only supporting person for Vianne in the
beginning of the film. Armande suffers from diabetes but she has shown a whole heap on how
independent women remain able to care for themselves without anyone. Armande believed that her
grandson should be allowed to explore the world instead of being restricted and bound to rules set by
the society and school. This strong will of freedom, believes, and for women to be opinionated at that

The Pros And Cons Of Globalization In Bolivia
Globalisation is, the process by which businesses or other organisations develop international
influence or start operating on an international scale. We have crossed a boundary with globalisation
that we can not revert. Our cultures have become so homogenised, with Mcdonalisation, wearing the
same brands like Nike and listening to Ed Sheeran no matter where we are in the world. It could be
said that it would be impossible to go back to a world before globalisation. However it also has to be
said that some nations such as Bolivia are rejecting globalisation and still remain a still remain a
global contender in global markets for example. It would be inaccurate to say that it would be
impossible to live in a world with no globalisation.

Evo Morales was elected president of Bolivia in 2006. He is a socialist leader and therefore rejects the
idea of globalisation, and though many experts argued this would hurt Bolivia economically, we now
know this is not the case. On his hundredth day in office, Bolivian President Evo Morales moved to
nationalise his nation s oil and gas reserves, ordering the military to occupy Bolivia s gas fields and
giving foreign investors a six month deadline to comply with demands or leave. Bolivia has grown
much faster over the last 8 years under President Evo Morales than in any period over the past three
and a half decades. A year before the election of Morales Bolivia s annual increase in GDP was 0.9%,
today under the helm of Morales the annual increased has soared to 3%, a 2.1% increase. Furthermore
it would be possible to counter the argument that the stopping of global station would lead to
shortages in produce especially food. From what we know many secluded society s like the tribes in
the Amazon have managed to grow, cultivate and harvest enough food to feed their populations. For
example the The Xingu people that live in Xingu national park, have avoided globalisation ever since
the first landings on the Conquistadores landed in South America in the 16th century. During this time
their population has thrived from 3000 members in 32 different settlements. These people obtain their
food from communal vegetable gardens and spear fishing. Furthermore their traditional longhouses
are built from local trees. This is a clear example of a civilisation that has managed not only to survive
but to thrive in a world without globalisation. From these examples we can see that it is possible to
stop globalisation without a imminent collapse of society. However it has to be said that in the case of

Impact Of Technology On Health Care Industry
Empirical Essay Main Idea The article, IT Based Capabilities, Service Innovation, and Quality in
Health Care, focuses on how there have been many developments in technology which could be
utilized to effectively deliver services within the health care industry (Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p.
1). Through innovation, health care facilities are expected to provide top quality care to patients.
Technology has made that possible; however, prior to this study, it was unsure if the two had any
correlation. The research that was conducted involves the term service in the health care industry
(Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p. 1). Three Important Facts One fact that the article emphases on is the
importance of how customers are demanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5). If a medical facility believes that they are providing the best quality of service to the patients,
possible improvements will go unidentified. An example would be to reexamine the EHR program
that is being utilized periodically to determine if an upgrade or new program would be more beneficial
for the employees and patients. There are numerous EHR programs that are being developed and/or
constantly undergoing improvements. Although a program is effective for the facility and patients, it
does not signify that it is providing the best quality of care. Lastly, health care facilities that use IT to
improve their capabilities for service innovation and service quality have the potential to enhance their
organizations strategic and operational performance (Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p. 17). Innovation in
the health care industry is pertinent for providers to be able to ensure not only the quality of care is
exceptional but also to contribute in reducing medical errors. Allowing patients to have access to
selected parts of their medical record allows the patients to have an active role in their health. Ideas

The Issue Of Global Warming
Dear World, I want to talk about something affecting you all. It s about global warming. This issue
will more than likely take away from everyone in the end, or at least humanity s efforts to be a greater
civilization, if you don t take care of it. My question is, why aren t you? For billions of years your
Earth withstood countless hardships and has since lived among the cosmos, but now it s going to be
intoxicated and fall ill in a manner of hundreds of years, because of you? Global warming is the issue
of the earth warming up due to man s technological accomplishments since the industrial revolution,
greatly committing to the massive unnatural build up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and it
comes up with a great deal of many other problems, including pollution, the maintaining of
ecosystems in the polar regions, and the depleting rate of fossil fuels and non renewable energy
sources. But besides the problem itself, which is already a major issue, there comes the people. There
are more than one sides to a problem, and in this case, it s about whether global warming is actually
real or not. There are those who side that it is, and those who side that it isn t, and even those who say
that humans aren t causing it. Although there are more than two sides, it needs to be said that global
warming is indeed real and happening as you read this. Putting an end to the modern era and giving up
our energy needs is simply too cruel, but there is never just one solution, and this

Fact vs Reality of Movie Last of the Mohicans
The last of the Mohicans is a film directed by Michael Mann, from a script by Mann and Christopher
Crowe. It stars Daniel Day Lewis, Madeleine Stowe, West Studi, Russell Means, Eric Schwieg, Jodhi
May, Maurice Roeves, and Steven Waddington
The original novel written by James Fenimore Cooper has been popular ever since it was first
published in 1826.
Plot
A white man is adopted as a toddler by the Mohican Chingachgook and raised together with his foster
brother Uncas. His name is Hawkeye, also known as Nathaniel (Daniel Day Lewis).
The movie begins in the year of 1757 and the French and British are at war with various Indians
taking part on both sides. The main part is about the 1757 siege of a British fortress; Fort William
Henry.

In Real Life
The last of the Mohicans is a very entertaining film. But it is not as historically accurate as you may
think.
There are no facts about any, in real life, very similar person to Hawkeye, but there are stories about
different tribes that got entirely wiped out of existence by white men.
The real Colonel Munro and the massacre
Contrary to popular belief (mostly because of the 1992 movie) Colonel George Munro (spelled Monro
in real life) did NOT die during the massacre. He arrived at Fort Edwards and went shortly thereafter
to Albany to condemn Webb s cowardly actions during the siege. Webb was recalled to England and
reassigned. His reputation was ruined.
It is easy to picture nearly the entire column, which was marching from Fort William Henry to Fort
Edwards, being slaughtered when you hear the story. When 1600 armed, Indian warriors are attacking
a defenseless, panicked column of about 2400 people (including women children), there is not much
left to the imagination how things happened. In reality, however, it did not happen the way that the
most people think it did. Colonel Monro s own estimations were that 129 were killed and wounded
among the British troops. Regarding the colonial militia, he said, No Regular Accot Could be got from
the Provincials but their Numbers Kill d Could not be Less than Four Officers about 40 Men. And
very near as many Men Wounded. There is no doubt some killing occurred, but in the big

  • 2. An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet interaction between a granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the poem, I believe the meaning of the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother never experienced, and the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced heaven and she is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to hear more about the purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how you can make yourself an angel by just lying down and waving your arms (Cofer). These lines describe winter as a place where angels are made. It mentions that even when the snow touches you, it is a feeling of purification. This symbolizes that heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you. The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect snow to death. Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a connection to what she was saying, so that they could grasp a better understanding. An example of a simile can be found in lines 6 7: the Caribbean sun winds up the world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is comparing two unlike things, the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection. The Caribbean sun is what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile adds to the poem s meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives and that is warmth in her home in the Caribbean. There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to visualize what the author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of where the grandmother lives in the Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with the winter weather, and how heaven looks through the eyes of the granddaughter s comparison to winter. As I read through the poem several time, I looked for some mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a breeze again before the cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a Christian belief that when you die you will go to heaven. I wondered how long grandma ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In construction projects project manager is required to fulfil the needs of the client in terms of terms of cost, timely delivery and quality. Project manager is the one who identifies the various processes required to carry the project and is responsible for the various activities, relative dependency among the various activities to carry out the process and thus, the construction (Project Management Institute, 2004). Tinnirello (1999) points out that in order to complete the project on time and in definite budget a project manager must keep track on all the activities and actual processes. A study by Gregory (2011) shows that to fulfil the expectations and needs of the client project manager must apply proper skills, techniques and knowledge in the project. According to Sharlett (2009), the manner or way in which project manager supervise the project has the direct influence on the result of the project. To get a utmost benefit for the money invested in a project, the project manager must have a reliable team consisting of skilled human resources and the project manager shall work as a team leader to carry out the project within the cost limit. • 5. The Impacts of the Emergence of Sociology on the Works of... The emergence of sociology as a discipline is a result of the social, economic, political and technological developments in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In this essay, the adequacy of this viewpoint will be analysed by pointing out these developments and highlighting their impact on the works of Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx and Max Weber. The three are considered because they are regarded as the pioneers of sociology. Furthermore, the relevance of the early work of the above to modern sociology will be highlighted. The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was a period characterised by large population growth coupled with a large demographic shift. This was aided by technological innovations such as the development of railroads and the steam engine. The demographic shift was mainly to urban areas where there was rapid growth and development in the manufacturing industry. The developments were driven by curious scientists and professionals who were extending the influence of large institutions, in biology, banking and etc., to larger portions of the society. The consequence was the emergence of a capitalist society. The chaos and social disorder that resulted from the series of political revolutions ushered in by the French Revolution in 1789 disturbed many early social theorists. While they recognized that a return to the old order was impossible, they sought to find new sources of order in societies that had been traumatized by dramatic political changes. Socialism ... Radioactive dating uses information that they gather from the decay of radioactive substances within an object. What s the difference in relative and radioactive dating? They were able to learn about dinosaurs and how old they were and when they were discovered by radioactive dating. Radioactive dating allows scientist to record things in the past. In order to do this, they have to use the ratios of isotopes to determine the age of the rocks and fossils. Some chemicals that they use in radioactive dating are Carbon, uranium and potassium. Each one of these elements are made up of atoms. In each atom, there is a nucleus. Inside of that, we find a neutron, and when they become unstable, they let go of energy. When they let go of this energy, it is called radioactivity. It occurs when the nucleus has an excessive amount of neutrons. The variation of neutrons are called isotopes. Isotopes are a form of an element that are unstable. When going through radioactivity, the unstable isotopes break down and form a new element. The isotopes are never destroyed but they turn into something else. As far as the accuracy goes, people are proven to believe that this is a very accurate method. They say this because radioactive dating is based on radioactive decay of unstable isotopes. They have ways of proving that this method is in fact correct and very accurate. • 10. The Imagery Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare The imagery of Macbeth institutes a dark, evil aura that surrounds nearly every aspect of the play. Images of evil beings, murder, as well as the natural and supernatural help to set this sinister mood throughout the play. The three witches are a dominant source of evil in Macbeth. They are the first characters introduced, emphasizing their significance in the play as well as their aura of darkness. Their first meeting takes place in thunder and lightening, a dark, chaotic, and dangerous environment, which sets the tone and atmosphere for the rest of the play . They also use a multitude of paradoxical and contradictory statements, indicating a sense of deception (1.1.2 10). They say that the battle, referring to the battle between Scotland, led by Banquo and Macbeth, and the armies of Ireland and Norway, will be ere the set of sun, (1.1.5). The witches mean that this battle will be finished by the time the sun has set, leaving any following events to occur in darkness. In their second meeting, their evil and power is accentuated when they describe their actions; killing swine and wrecking the ships of sailors (1.3. 2 30). This foreshadow s the dark consequences of their meeting with Macbeth. Furthermore, the witches act as Macbeth s stimulus into a descent into evil. The witches take advantage of Macbeth s covert desire for power, and influence him to fulfill his own prophecy, to quench their own desire for a world of chaos. The criminal behind this was a man named Timothy Lloyd. He worked for 11 years and as some point during his working experience with the company, he became the network s administrator. He was part of the creation of this network, a system he knew all too well. Three weeks after he was fired, this malicious software code was activated. He created six lines of code, which they called a time bomb to detonate without him having to be present. This so called bomb when triggered, was set to delete critical manufacturing software, bringing the file server down, also bringing the hub of the network down and costing the company millions of dollars. They designed and created software for the NASA and the U.S. Navy., so they were also affected by this sabotage. They eventually had to lay off 80 workers due to damage of this sabotage. One who played a significant role for his effort to overthrow the Cuban and Bolivian government was Che Guevara. Che Guevara became involved in political change when he was on a trip in Cuba where he met Fidel Castro. At the time, Fidel Castro wanted to overthrow the government which was under control of Fulgencio Batista. Guevara s admiration to Castro and commitment made him his second in command. Batista fled and Fidel Castro took over, while Che Guevara worked on sparking other revolutions throughout Latin America, one in specific which would be his last, was in Bolivia. Throughout Latin America, several women were also getting involved in social movements, however, one in particular sought to make a change in Cuba and set foot into Che Guevara s revolution movement. • 13. Technology And The Human Computer Interface There are certain technology programs that are emerging in the software industry that have key uses. These current technologies are those that surround the human computer interface. As a software engineer, I will use this paper to describe the term Haptic Feedback, its key uses and why it is needed. In addition, I will compare the various types of human memory mentioning their impact on the human computer interface. I will also give a detailed description of the potential outcomes of not making use of consistency in the human computer interface, summarize and explain the steps of user centric design process and the role of human motion in the human computer interface. Haptic Feedback Haptic can be defined as the science of applying the touch sensation as well as control to guide human interactions with the computer applications. This is done using the special devices such as data gloves and joysticks to enable users to receive computer application feedback in form of a felt body part sensation, especially the hand. In that regard, it can be deemed that Haptic Feedback is the feedback that users derive from the interaction with computer applications that is only felt, not heard or seen. The key uses of Haptic Feedback are in the image outlines delineated by the feel sensation in a way like object simulation in a location near the user. He was therefore the product of two divergent traditions: while his father s family included the author of The Star Spangled Banner (after whom Fitzgerald was named), his mother s family was, in Fitzgerald s own words, straight 1850 potato famine Irish. As a result of this contrast, he was exceedingly ambivalent about the notion of the American dream: for him, it was at once vulgar and dazzlingly promising. It need scarcely be noted that such fascinated ambivalence is itself typically American. Like the central character of The Great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fitzgerald s own divided nature can be seen in the contrast between the novel s hero, Jay Gatsby, and its narrator, Nick Carraway. The former represents the naive Midwesterner dazzled by the possibilities of the American dream; the latter represents the compassionate Princeton gentleman who cannot help but regard that dream with suspicion. The Great Gatsby may be described as the most profoundly American novel of its time; Fitzgerald connects Gatsby s dream, his Platonic conception of himself, with the aspirations of the founders of America. A year later, Fitzgerald published a collection of short stories entitled All the Sad Young Men. This book marks the end of the most productive period of Fitzgerald s life; the next decade was full of chaos and misery. Fitzgerald himself began to drink excessively, and Zelda began a slow descent into madness. In 1930 she suffered her first mental breakdown; her second breakdown, from which she never fully recovered, came in 1932. Throughout the 1930s the Fitzgeralds fought an ultimately unsuccessful battle to save their marriage. This struggle was tremendously debilitating for Fitzgerald; he later said that he left [his] capacity for hoping on the little roads that led to Zelda s sanitarium. He did not finish his next novel, Tender Is the Night, until 1934. It is the story of a psychiatrist who marries one of his patients, who, as she slowly recovers, exhausts his vitality until he is a man used up. This book, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Daily Life Of The Olmecs In Mexico 2. The Olmecs The Olmecs were the earliest civilization to settle in Mexico around 1200 BCE to 400 BCE. The daily life of the Olmecs included farming, weaving, pottery, and games. The men would go out and farm squash, beans, sweet potatoes, and even tomatoes. Men also would fish. While the men were farming and fishing, the women would stay home and cook. They would also weave and make pottery. An important game the Olmecs would play is pok a tok . Another part of their daily life was trade. The Olmecs would trade all sorts of things such as, pottery, statues, figurines, obsidian, serpentine, etc. In return the Olmecs wanted things that were not normally native to their part of the world. Finally, the Olmecs believed that stone faces would help lookover and protect their society. Some technology that the Olmecs used that we still use today, includes compass, had a form of writing, used math, calendars, and cocoa. Those were just a few of the things they used back then that we still put to use today. The Mayans The Mayans have an interesting background all because we don t know for sure how they disappeared. To start it all off the Mayans flourished between 2000 BC to about 1697 AD. The Mayan men would go out in the morning to farm and come back in the evening for dinner. While the husbands were gone, the wives would get up and start cooking. Something that the Mayans thought was important was bathing, so once the men got home they would clean up. ... According to Brookfield critical reflection is the process of analyzing, reconsidering and questioning experiences within a broad context of issues . This is necessary for anyone working in a people centered job or in human services. Critical reflection allows us to tackle our assumptions and actions and address where this comes from. There are 3 different phases of the critical reflection process. The first is deconstruction. This is where we take the case or moment apart, this where we deconstruct our attitudes surrounding the circumstances. The next step is resistance and challenge. This is where we ask why and what this means. The last step is reconstruction. In this step we put together everything that we have learned from this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think this is because it is more helpful after every interaction because then it is the best way to address all of these interactions. As a mentor, it s important to really pay attention to my interactions with my mentees because this is the basis of my relationship with them. There are a lot of times of when I need to deconstruct my feelings and attitudes. This is often the case for my mentees, with them being only a year younger and the growth of our relationship, there are some interactions that I look back at and think I maybe should not have had done or said some of the things I did do. I will attempt this by explaining the similarities and differences of the music genre Rap, and the music genre Country by examining the elements of music for each genre. Along with the elements of music, ill also examine why country music has a fan base that is much older while most of the Rap listeners are todays youth. To start off, Rap music has always had the views of being a very rebellious type of music that doesn t always portray the best image. In this report there is an explanation of how PV cells can be used for the production of electricity. The report consists of how concentrating collectors, thin film technology, building integrated systems and flat plate collectors can be used. The material used for the production of photovoltaic cells are polycrystalline silicon, thin film materials and single crystal. The report consists of manufacturing technology used in the production of photovoltaic cells and how we can improve the cell efficiency and other monetary aspects of photovoltaic technology. However, the photovoltaic efficiency and production costs has not reached up to the highest level because of the cost related issues and this technology is not able to replace the conventional sources of energy such as coal, gas and nuclear powered generating facilities. Photovoltaic power is used in remote applications such as communications, villages and homes in many developing countries. In many areas the rooftop installation of solar panels is smaller but it is rapidly increasing at a great pace.
