Clarinet Research Papers
It s all fun and games until someone breaks a reed. Anonymous (Nee). Clarinets and saxophones
are two different instruments that are in the woodwind family. The clarinet was the first instrument
I learned, and I played it in concert band for middle school and in marching band during my first
two years of high school. I learned the tenor saxophoneat the end of my freshman year, and I play it
for jazz band and show choir pit. They are both equally fun instruments to play, and they are not too
difficult to play. The clarinetand saxophone are different in ways such as history, shape, keys,
sound and variety but are also similar in these ways. Firstly, the history of the clarinet and
saxophone are different. The clarinet is a modern version of a directly developed from the
instrument, Chalumeau ( The Clarinet ). The creator of the clarinet, Johann Christoph Denner and
his son, also named Johann, decided to make some changes to the chalumeau. They added keys, a
bigger bell and a separate mouthpiece. The keys made the largest impact because... Show more

a regular concert band. There is the most common, which is an alto saxophone. There also is the

`` Moral Machines `` By Robert J. Sawyer And Gary Marcus
Myths are a good representation of how technology works in a society. This is due to their
valuable lessons which relate the impact of technological history on society over a period of time.
Two authors by the names of Robert J. Sawyer and Gary Marcus elaborate the connection between
science fiction and ethics to technology which compares to Prometheus s myth. Sawyer explains
the relationship in her essay The Purpose of Science Fictionin which he justifies that sciencefiction
can portray the outcomes of futuretechnology. Marcus justifies this connection in his essay Moral
Machines when he describes how automated machinery should include ethical moralities in
reference to how they are being used in real life scenarios. Sawyer and Marcus reveal the
relationship of science fiction and ethics to technology which relates to the themes of Prometheus
through science fiction and ethical motives. Prometheus was well known for giving the human
race the gift of fire. He delivered fire to the world by stealing it from Zeus due to a conflict
between the two. Prometheus was punished for his wrongdoing in which Zeus chained
Prometheus to a boulder so an eagle would come to eat his liver every day. Prometheus s actions
can represent a theme of progress in which he helps humans proceed around nature s boundaries.
Humans encounter obstacles in their lives to achieve a better life and live comfortably, but the fire
is the stepping stone to human success. Prometheus s gift to the world

Persuasive Essay On Civil Disobedience
Civil disobedience is a nonviolent act that allows us to protest against, unjust laws or any policy that
people do not tend to agree on. An example of someone that acted on this was, Martin Luther King
Junior in Letter from a Birmingham Jail, was the way that the did protest against human right and
oppression, in the lense, Martin shows it and explains that on every act of injusticeness has a
negative outcome. The artifact, Antigone by Sophocles you can see Antigone fight against the
injustice act of burying her brother. In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps:
collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self purification; and direct
action(King Jr., 1). Both of these two uses four major principles, to fight against the importance of
unjust laws.
Justice does not appear and occur easy for anyone that is trying to fight for it. Martin has been
fighting for a long time to make justice for all humans, which were end segregation and racial
oppression. Martin and the others used non violent protest in order to convince the laws to
change without any affect to hurting anyone. He did this by doing sit ins and freedom rides. As
for Antigone all she ever wanted was to have a simple burial, where she can bury her brother
Polynices but Creon mandated that her and everyone prohibited to do so. The only reason why
she can not do so because it offends the gods and is against morality. Who ever does so will be
sentenced to death. Martin and Sophocles use collection of facts, one of four steps of direct action
of a nonviolent campaign.
First major principal, collection of facts is that you need to have examine every detail of an
injustice act. Every single details matters in this situation because the smallest little thing you miss
to mention can then change the whole story of the situation. By doing this it gives us the
opportunity to get truth on what really occurred. An example showing this was during the time
period in the 1960s in Birmingham when segregation was considered an important time in history.
It was a place where African American were treated brutally and cruelly. He also talks about how
the were treated terribly treated in the courts, and have experienced

Analyzing Cyclical Steam Injections Of A Heavy Oil Reservoir
For our senior project, we analyzed cyclical steam injections in a heavy oil reservoir using
reservoir simulations. We began the project as though we had been contracted to analyze a cyclical
steam injection project in a pay zone similar to the Clearwater formation in Cold Lake, Alberta. In
this heavy, dead oil reservoir the facilities, injectors, and producer are already set up in the field
with a seven spot orientation. The company wants further analysis on the project once the market
declined, requesting reservoir simulations be conducted over a six year period before proceeding.
Through the program CMG STARS, we were able to simulate production in a field with similar
characteristics, employing field data from technical papers referenced in this paper. The complex
equations simultaneously solved in CMG STARS including multiphase fluid flow and conservation
equations make the program an invaluable reservoir evaluation tool. Sensitivity analysis was
conducted to monitor the production responses to changes in steam injection parameters, compiling
over 40 simulations. The injection was optimized with a total of 35 simulations after identifying the
most significant parameters impacting production. Net present values and cumulative production of
oil and water were analyzed to construct a recommendation for the project. In this paper, we will
discuss the model construction, sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic analysis in greater
detail. Although the constraints of

The Age Of Faith In The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages came right after the fall of the Roman Empire because of its lack of centralized
religion and its inability to deal with the raids of the nomadic and germanic tribes. Compared to all
the revolutionary advancements of the Roman Empire, many considered the Middle Ages to be a
big step back in lifestyle, education and technological advancements. The The Middle Ageshave
been defined as many things. It has been called the Age of Feudalism, The Golden Age, and the
Dark Ages. However, the Age of Faith is a more accurate title, because during the Middle Ages the
church was the main source of unity in Europe, the church was viewed as the most important and
powerful part of Europe, even more powerful than the kings and governments, and finally the Age
is Faith is a more accurate title because people followed the church no matter what, even through
situations as extreme as the Crusades.
The first reason The Age of Faith is the most accurate title is that during the Middle Ages the
church was the main source of unity in Europe. For example the chart of a manor during the
Middle Ages shows that a chapel was the only thing that every single manor had (Document 2). A
chapel was the one thing that connected every manor. Also according to the excerpt from the
museum The Roman Catholic Church was the single most unifying structure in Europe. It touched
everyone s life, no matter what their rank or class was or where they lived (Document 3). This
shows another example of

Forging, Horticulture, Agriculture, Industrialism And The...
The five modes of livelihood are, foraging, horticulture, pastoralism, agriculture, Industrialism and
the Information Age.
Foraging is based on obtaining food only available in nature, this includes fruits, small animals,
nuts, berries, and etc. This is done by either gathering, fishing, or hunting resources. The labor of
this system is family based and the gender roles do overlap. Though men tend to do the hunting,
while the females do more foraging. Foraging has a high degree of sustainability if there s
undisturbed outside forces.
Horticulture is the process of getting food by cultivating crops within gardens. These crop yields
support denser populations than foraging and allow for permanent settlements. The labor is made
by usually a main family. Men often do more work in terms of actual manually labor, such as
clearing the land. Everyone has a part in the process even the children. They help out by caring for
siblings, fetching fuel, and hauling water. The system has a high sustainability, but can get threaten
by outsiders taking land, urban development, and dam construction. ... Show more content on

These animals help provide over half of a group s diet. Pastoralists also tend to trade with other
groups to secure food and goods they cannot produce. Again like horticulture the organization of
labor is made up of families. The work between genders also overlap. However, women are
usually the ones to process the products while men herd the animals (Miller 50). This process is
sustainable system if outside forces do not encroach on herding lands and water sources. They also
have to be aware of any encroachment environmental change or country

Jack Kerouac and The Beat Generation Essay
Born to die
The Beat Generation, made up of writers, artists and misfits, was forged not long after the end of
World War II. People wanted change, the old ways and traditions were slowly being neglected and
social rules of that time were put into question. The Beat Generation were the ones leading the way
in questioning the old rules and regulations not because they wanted to but because America
wanted it. The Beat Generation was a bohemian hipster like movement that got its drive and
inspiration from sexuality, drugs, booze, crazy people and situations and religions like Christianity,
Judaism and Buddhism. The Beat Generation embraced creativity untouched by culture. These
artists found inspiration in past and current art movements like ... Show more content on

Death is a phenomenon that many do not understand in America. America tells many that life
should be lived in a certain way in order to live life to its fullest before death comes creeping
along. Humans create this false pursuit of happiness before they leave this world. It leaves many
in fear of death. Religious beliefs teach humans to embrace death. If that is the case, then why is it
that citizens in north America still fear death when living a happy life in a first world country. Jack
Kerouac is inspired to write spontaneously through his travels in Mexico because of Tristessa s junk
addiction and how she embraces death even though her life is miserable. The romantic s wrote
many poems about death and many artists from that era embraced death because it evoked a
high level of curiosity in humans. Kerouac seems to embrace this notion too because it expresses
an essential truth about the human condition. He was inspired by a dove in Tristessa s house, Yet
so much like Tristessa s eyes that I wish I could comment and tell Tristessa: Thou hast the dove s
eyes. (Kerouac 26) the Dove represents the communication between the two worlds and more
importantly it represents peace of the deepest kind. It sooths all our worries and troubled thoughts.
It helps to appreciate the little things in life. Kerouac wrote in spontaneous prose style at this
moment in time because he was captivated by the image of the dove in Tristessa s house looking

Francisco De Goya Black Paintings
Francisco de Goya s Pinturas negras, or Black Paintings, are some of the most grotesque and
unsettling images in art history, with one painting in particular, Saturno devorando a su hijo, or
Saturn Devouring One of His Sons, standing out the most amongst them all. With his wildly staring
eyes, gaping mouth and half eaten son in his hands, it makes one wonder what would drive an artist
to create an image like this. Goya, however, was not uneducated in the horrors of the world,
witnessing the travesties of the Peninsular War, the atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, surviving
two life threatening illnesses, with one leaving him completely deaf, and the death of six of his
seven children. Perhaps it was one of these instances in particular that encouraged him to conceiving
this disconcerting figure, or perhaps it was a combination of the three.
At the beginning of Goya s career, in 1777, he was commissioned to create a series of tapestry
cartoons from the Royal Tapestry Factory, designing some 42 patterns over five years. Some of his
more popular paintings were originally tapestry cartoons such as The Parasol. His use of the
popular Rococo style, brought him to the attention of the aristocracy of Spain. In 1789, he was
appointed to court painter to Charles IV and then the following year, he became First Court Painter.
His portraits of the king, queen and royal family, were anything but flattering. While he was given
this great position of influence and prestige, he

Culture Jamming In Adbusters
Since its founding in 1989, culture jamming has been a popular communications technique for
Adbusters advocates. This user generated protest method allows individuals to critique and
challenge the pervasive advertisements of massive corporations. Culture jamming is a way of
directly halting the flow of consumer messages and allowing audiences to stop and critically
analyze the capitalist messages and institutions around them. The concept is inspired by the
Situationist movement, an international organization of social revolutionaries which produced
avante garde art critical of capitalist modes of production through the 1950s to the 1970s
(Rasmussen, 36). Ground in neo Marxist thinking, The Situationist International looked particularly

to help audiences cleanse their mental environments of the seemingly never ending flow of
advertisements we are constantly exposed to. These kinds of visual techniques are key to the
ideological goals of Adbusters; as part of the Media Carta campaign, the organization seeks to take

The story of the prostitute addicted to crack, Patricia, who changed her life around after she

Barefoot and minimalist running didn t die, but it didn t take root with mainstream runners either,

Not every runner has feet that can handle an unsupported landing due to problems such as arch

Alcoholism is a result of imbalanced neurotransmitters in the brain. They cause deficiencies in

Ethics And The Ethics Of Ethics
Ethics Nurse s
Before all parties involved can begin a working relationship, each individual should discuss and
obtain a written description of the duties expected and the code of ethics that should be respected
and followed; by beginning with a clear understanding of ethical values. Ethics: the study of right
and wrong and how to tell the difference between them. Since ethics also means people s beliefs
about right and wrong behavior, ethics can be defined as the study of ethics. Ethics is not,
however, the study of what people do or how people act. This is descriptive, not normative. Ethics
is normative about what ought to be, not what is so; the study of what people say or think one
ought to do. Ethics is an enquiry into the truth, not into what people believe is true ( NATURE OF
ETHICS, ).
To continue, the floor is open to discuss ethical codes for nurses provision 2, the nurse primary

The figure on the left is the modern climate of California and the figure on the right is the
prediction in 100 years. One can see the changes expected in biomes which will affect where
vineyards are located. Areas of tropical rainforest will increase which are unsuitable for grapes as it
limits the differential between warm, dry summers and wet cool winter. It would be suggested for
vintner s to analyze what their region s climate will transition to, and begin preparations to grow
grapes better suited for the environment. Transitioning grape types could be a comparatively
inexpensive adaptation to climate changeversus moving ones vineyard to a climate best suit for
their variety. In addition, moving vineyards could be detrimental to complex ecosystems. It should
be noted that grape vines on average live at least 20 years. Therefore, future planning will be
necessary to transition vineyards.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

warming at the higher latitudes, especially in the Northern Hemisphere. Rising temperatures
worldwide will have extraordinary effect upon agriculture; however, few crops are as susceptible to
minor changes in climate than grapes, especially premium wine quality grapes. By 2100, it is
possible that the United States could lose up to 81% of its premium winegrape acreage. In
California, warming temperatures and a reduction in fresh water in the next half century may
deliver an enormous loss of land suitable for premium grape production, especially in Napa and

suggests that these regions would be lost completely finding only the narrow coastal bands and the

Global Warming Has Left Upon Our Natural Environment
Introduction
With July 2013 recorded as one of the worst snowfalls in the history of Australia winters, well
concerned fears are fulminating regarding the future of the ski industry, namely the ski resorts that
reside in the Snowy Mountain region including Thredbo, Perisher, Charlotte s Pass and the Selwyn
Snowfields, and several major Victorian ski resorts including Mt Buller, Mt Hotham and Falls
Creek. The Alps are the only region on the Australian mainland in which deep snowfalls naturally,
however, with the ongoing impact that global warming has left upon our natural environment, it
feels ominously close that the premonition of a snow deprived winter may be as soon as 2050.
More erratic looking winters have confirmed the beliefs of many that the ski industry may not be
viable beyond the mid century mark, given that the ski industry s economic viability is highly
sensitive and contingent on the number of days with good snow cover that are received each
year. According to a government commissioned report, the ski industries initial fears are well
founded with ski seasons to be predicted to be 10 weeks shorter, and the snow depth considerably
declined. While some may reflect upon the 2013 winter and overlook the enormity of the issue,
scientists predict that the impact of global warming means the long term outlook for the ski
industry is bleak, and not positive. Not only does a lack of snowfall presents environmental
consequences, but also poses a series of consequences

Internsment And Japanese Internment Camps

Claim For years, people have argued over whether Japanese Internment camps( interment means
putting a person in prison or other kind of detention, generally in wartime. During World War II, the
American government put Japanese Americans in internment camps, fearing they might be loyal to
Japan.) are an Americanized version of concentration camps. Some say that the Japanese Internment
camps were just as brutal and inhumane as concentration camps in Nazi Germany. Others will tell

Reason 2 Another reason that the concentration camps and Japanese Internment camps are
completely different is because the motive behind creating the camps was incompareable. Japanese
internment camps were created because the United States was scared of connections Japanese
Americans might have to the enemy, and the feared for the safety of the country. On the
contrary, concentration camps were created out because of Hitler s pure hatred for the jews.
When Hell asked Hitler what he intended doing if he ever had full freedom of action against the
Jews, his response was: If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first
and most important job. As soon as I have power, I shall have gallows after gallows erected, for
example, in Munich on the Marienplatz as many of them as traffic allows. Then the Jews will be
hanged one after another, and they will stay hanging until they stink. They will stay hanging as
long as hygienically possible. As soon as they are untied, then the next group will follow and that
will continue until the last Jew in Munich is exterminated. Exactly the same procedure will be
followed in other cities until Germany is cleansed of the last Jew! (quoted in John Toland, Adolf

The United States has an absolute advantage over the technological products and services which

How Does Darcy Present Elizabeth In Pride And Prejudice
Elizabeth is an interesting individual not because she is a natural beauty and possesses almost

Elizabeth does have flaws however, one being that when she doesn t want to listen or believe

poor manners, and expectations of women, she automatically takes a dislike to him. However,

Cinematography and Lighting Essay
Cinematography and Lighting The smoky greys shown in the street as the Tramp is taken away in
the paddy wagon reflects the people s uncertain futures due to the economic struggle of the Great
Depression. The depth of field indicates what is significant in the street shot outside the cigar
stand, having the Tramp, policeman and stand owner in focus. As the Tramp is escorted to the
paddy wagon several observers walk into the frame and into focus, enhancing the narrative. The
composition of the shots in the paddy wagon refers to whom the significant characters are, in the
way that the Tramp and the Gamin are positioned in the very foreground of the frame. The close

Editing The style of edit for this sequence and entire film is continuity editing which produces a
logical and straightforward narrative. The sequence begins with an establishing shot of the city road
setting, orienting the viewer. The editing follows real time human experiences, for example, the
Tramp enters the paddy wagon then it cuts to him sitting down on the benches with the rest of the
convicted, minimizing the perception of breaks between cuts (invisible editing). The shot
transitions are cuts which maintain the flow of the narrative and the character s actions. The shot
/reverse shot between the Gamin and the Tramp in the paddy wagon conveys understanding
between the two characters and sympathy from the Tramp. The conversation between the two
characters is communicated through the editing as well as actions and facial expressions.
Intertitles are placed within the shots to represent characters dialogue where they enhance the
narrative most. For example, the intertitle displaying Now is your chance to escape! is placed in
the instant the Tramp is pointing and urging the Gamin to run away. Editing reflects the decision
the Tramp has to make when the Gamin beckons for him to escape with her. The pace of the
editing and the shot size reflects the pause as he decides, drawing in the audience into engaging
with the urgency of the decision. The camera literally is drawn into the two characters faces as the
shots cut in closer.

Public Service Is A High Calling
Public service is a high calling. A calling that certain individuals who are compassionate and
enthusiastic about serving their communities at large are willing to dedicate their profession and
skills to. Although there are many challenges in managing a public organization, great leaders are
those who have taken this opportunity and have inspired their work to be bigger than themselves in
hopes to motivate those around them to do good work. The development of our societies depends
on the efforts of the publicsector such as education, environmental services, health and social care,
that are fundamental to peoples lives. Therefore, it is important that an effective leader in the
public sector who is much more than knowing the job and how to manage workloads and staff.
There are many behaviors and traits that have been linked to successful leaders, and more
specifically, those who have dedicated their careers to the public.
Leadership is formally defined as the exercise of authority, whether formal or informal, in directing
and coordinating the work of others (Shafritz, Russell and Borick, 361). However, challenges
surfaced in the public sector such as overcoming political and governmental pressures, inadequate
training of staff, high employee turnover, and possibly weak management skills in lower levels
causes front runners to jump through several more hoops than a leader working in a private
organization. That is why it takes a special individual who exuberates

Paradoxical Trinity Analysis
The age of the robot warrior machine is looming, and it represents monumental changes in the
future conduct of war. Increased precision and decreased risk make the automation of warriors both
politically and militarily attractive. In the future, government and military leaders will have to
address the numerous moral and ethical questions concerning when, where and how to utilize these
lifeless soldiers. In the past, many leaders relied on the military theory from the Prussian theorist
Carl Von Clausewitzbook On Warto answer similar questions. Even though his theories have
formerly provided guidance, can the ideas written in the 1800 s, truly be useful when applied to
such drastic changes in the future conduct of war.

Measuring, comparing, or correlating the ever changing interaction between them is impossible.
The only constant is that all three are always in existence, pulling and pushing for an assemblance
of equilibrium. Any attempt to ignore one of them or limit another would render them useless . The
trinity and the absolute existence of the three elements represent the unique unchanging nature of
war. The enduring nature and profoundness suggests that the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit)
may have influenced Clausewitz, which is undoubtedly also a bias of this author. Many scholars
have argued over its interpretation, especially with regard to the secondary trinity referenced by
Clausewitz as the people, the commander with his army, and the government . One notion that is
agreeable to this author is that the secondary trinity of the people, army, and government was
Clausewitz attempt at the application of the theory. The application in this way also discards the
argument that the term war can only apply a state. Because of this, the elements of his paradoxical
trinity can be applied not only to state actors, but to non state, warlords, gangs, fanatical groups or
even individuals. The only requirement is humans. Other Students of Clausewitz have developed
their own simplified interpretations of the

Victor Frankenstein Knowledge Analysis
It is a man s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways (Buddha). Frankenstein,
by Mary Shelley, is a science fiction novel about knowledge. In the novel, Victor Frankenstein
spends years creating a creature from dead bodies. Upon the completion of his project, he
immediately abandons the creature leaving him to discover humanity on his own. In Mary Shelley
s novel, both Frankensteinand his creature are on a search for knowledge, though the quest is
executed in opposite ways: Frankenstein wields his knowledge, while the creature innocently
desires it, proving Frankenstein to be the real monster.

It was with these feelings that I began the creation of a human being (Shelly 48). In creating a
living being, Victor is attempting to usurp God s authority. Essentially, Victor is claiming to not
need God because he can get through, and even create, life on his own. Frankenstein uses his
knowledge to gain power; A new species would bless me as it s creator and source; many happy
and excellent natures would owe their being to me (Shelley 49). Additionally, Victor uses his
knowledge to bring him closer becoming omnipotent. He covets power. He wants to elevate
himself. Frankenstein s longing for power reaches a point of extreme unhealthiness. He wants to be
worshiped. Victor Frankenstein wields his knowledge attempting to become like God.
Frankenstein s creature cannot be the monster because his desire for knowledge comes out of a
position of innocence. Upon first breath, he is muddled and confused; No distinct ideas occupied
my mind; all was confused. I felt light, and hunger, and thirst, and darkness; innumerable sounds
sang in my ears, and on all sides various scents saluted me (Shelley 98).

The Dancing Scarecrow Metaphors
She passed through the old cotton and went into a field of dead corn. It whispered and shook
and was taller than her head. This metaphor communicates the sound of the season, in that
moment. The author wanted to build up the emotions with the blowing of the wind. A bird flew

by stealing, because she knows that the hunter has a gun. Yet, she was willing to trust him

opportunity as a gift from heaven, to take the nickel. Because she is poor, Phoenix probably
does not feel like she has any choice, and that God sees her through it all. She knows that she

Oedipus And The Wife Of Bath Comparison
Life is a Tragedy for those who feel, and a Comedy for those who think said Jean De La Bruyere.
Like in Oedipus, Oedipus feels all the pain when he learned the truth. In The Wife of Bath, the
knight think through his decision making when the aged women ask him to pick a question. A
tragedy is about human potentiality, while comedy is about the struggle between the youth and the
old. Although comedy and tragedy both have character s flaw, comedy and tragedy are completely
contradictory. One starts off with a fall and another starts off with a raise. One story the main
protagonist affects all of his people with his mistakes and the other does not. The ending in the

The story ends sorrowfully without anything splendid. On the other hand, In The Wife of Bath,
the knight started off doing something sinful; he rapes a virgin. Throughout the story, he went
through a journey that made him realize his mistakes and learned from it. He then encountered
an elderly lady that wanted to marry him. At first he did not want to marry someone that he
refers to aged and ugly . She then challenged him with a question if he wants to marry a young,
beautiful lady that is not faithful or an aged, ugly women that will be faithful. He surrenders in

Rebalancing In China Essay
Conflicting views
Under the Obama administration, the term rebalancing has been stated when it comes to the
relationships in the South China Sea. The point of rebalancing has come up when speaking about
the confrontation in the South China Sea. The idea is that the United States wants to restore the
original agreement by UNCLOS in order to give its allies a fair piece of the South China Sea and its
resources. China views this not as rebalancing, but as suppression. China has stated that the United
States just wanted to subdue China in the South China Sea and stop it development so it cannot
compete. This along with other factors has created greater tension between these two powerful
nations.
In terms of the military, both of these nation boast the as one of the strongest militaries in the

Social Warnings in Literature
Throughout time, works of literature have often carried messages of great social importance. It is
essential to understand these significant themes and agendas in order to understand the basis of the
novels. Throughout The Prophet s Hair by Salman Rushdie, War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells and
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, there is much evidence supporting the idea of social or
political warnings, one could argue, about the functionality of society and those who govern said
societies. The philosophies discovered by the reader (set there purposely by the author) provide the
means to the essential bridge between reading literature and understanding the possibilities and
comprehending the literature in question. Allegorically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Think of what earthquakes and floods, wars and volcanoes have done before to men! Did you

(p.78) This quote from the narrator helps us try to understand where he is coming from. Society is
based on evolution, not miracles, as many religions suggest. Faith can only go so far; and after
that, one can only depend on himself, not the religious leader he looks to. This novel also hints at
how unprepared the government is in regards to national emergencies, from natural disasters to
alien encounters. And although the chances of humans interacting with extra terrestrial creatures
are slim, it would take an awfully closed minded person to assume that Earth is the only planet
with semi intelligent organisms. There is a lot of dependence upon the state for guidance, as well
as religion. And while the state may not be perfect to the average citizen, in times of need or
trouble, they are the religious back up. H.G. Wells is practically screaming for society to gain a
sense of self rather than a sense of spiritual acknowledgement.
The novel A Clockwork Orangeis littered with ideologies regarding social and political messages
and allegorical imagery supporting Anthony Burgess pessimistic approach to life during his later
years. The coldness of reality, the societal need for revenge and the importance of free will all play
a large role in the philosophies given in the book. The

SUGGESTIONS
Mr. Chairman, I m not only here to make worse an already worst situation, but also to provide
suggestions to possible solutions to saving GIA.
Firstly: Formation of a new management team to replace the old Since there were so many
problems associated with the previous management and several complaints about their

knowledge: higher education, reintegration and liberation, as well as the environment/DAPL

society. I decided to look at both lectures because of my interest in how the two potentially collide
based off an interesting that I had personally. Socialization is one aspect of the conversation that
does not necessarily come forth, but holds a large degree of relevance.
The significance of these lectures is that they all revolve around a need for people to be more

The issue here is based on the fact that socialization ultimately works in hand with education and
it applies the identities. That is, Harro (2008) found that identities are ascribed to us at birth
through no effort or decision or choice of our own (p. 46). Considering this, it becomes
increasingly difficult to create a us vs them scenario. When in reality, it is two groups of people
who have grown up believing two different ideologies, and there is not really any type of dynamic
change that is associated with this conversation. The contrast of these two conversations only add
to the ongoing understanding of how difficult it is to have a difference if any. The more important
conversation that is occurring here is ultimately how can one bridge the gap of knowledge and
conversation that is occurring here.
Society currently stands at odds due in part to the fact that there is a gap in knowledge and
socialization is at the heart of it. In the instances provided by both lecturers, they are tied by the
fact that there is no real manner upon which their issues can be resolved because socialization
ultimately acts as the judge and jury. They are both looking to bridge the gap between the two
parties at odds that have developed. However, as Harro stated, there isn t a realistic solution due in

Education Is An Important Aspect Of Teaching And Teaching
Critically evaluate the extent that performativity in education has on developing creativity in
learning and teaching and assess the impact that this has on individuals
Introduction
As a concept towards education, performativity is one that seems to strongly divide opinion. There
are many scholars who argue that an increasing emphasis on performativity within education has a
detrimental effect on the levels of creativity that students and teachers can demonstrate, and in turn
negatively effects the results of the educational process. On the other hand there are those that
believe that performative analysis within education plays an important role in highlighting areas of
success, and areas that require improvement. Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) agree
that creativity is an important aspect of teaching and learning, however they also believe that a
disciplined structure is important to allow this creativity to be successful:
Occasionally, teachers fail to grasp that creative learning was not simply a question of allowing
pupils to follow their interests; careful planning was needed for enquiry, debate, speculation,
experimentation, review and presentation to be productive. (Ofsted, 2010)
Fostering creativity in education is intended to address many concerns. As Parkhurst summarises,
this includes dealing with ambiguous problems, coping with the fast changing world and facing an
uncertain future (Parkhurst, 1999). Other scholars such as Poole (1980) argue

Eugenics And The Eugenics Movement
Introduction Human beings have always been interested in success, in making sure they survive,
and creating new tools and technology to enable them to reach these goals. So it should come as no
surprise that eugenics follows this same guideline in human history. A term originally coined by
Francis Galton, first cousin to Charles Darwin, eugenicssimply means that the best people in society
with the most healthy normal genes should continue to reproduce and pass on their goodness to the
next generation, while the individuals with the unhealthy genes should be discouraged from having
any children (Allen 2001:59). With movements beginning in the early 20th century, eugenicists and
proponents of the eugenics movement, have taken particular interests in the heritability of social
behaviors, implementing enforcement mechanisms such as military force, law, and forced medical
procedures in order to maintain the well being of societies future generations. Although society
today frowns upon many instances of eugenics in our history, it is still being practiced in the 21st
century. Contemporary eugenics has become much more technologically advanced and individually
focused through the means of prenatal diagnosis and preimplantation genetic diagnosis. Although
these two approaches (past and present) to the eugenics movement are conducted in different ways,
the motivations behind them are theoretically similar. In this paper, I will be summarizing the
history of different

The Most Important Part Of A Team
The amount of action happening backstage of a sport is really exhausting. There s multiple steps
and knowledge that has to be put in play. Coaches are probably the most important part of a team.
They are the ones that lead the team towards the main goal. One may think that winning is the
main key to success, but it is definitely not. It takes effort to be in a team but it takes a person with
a lot of patience, courage, and understanding to be a coach. Taking various actions like specific
skills, techniques and being an effective coach/ positive approach have a huge role in being a win
win coach.
Sports can be traced back to 6000 BC. It was said that swimming and archery were first played
and the evidence was painted on caves. Baseball was invented in 1829. The first professional
league was formed in 1876. Later on the game of rugby became known as football in the United
States. The first game was played in 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton University. Although,
during the 19th century sports started to become actual official sports. (C 107 110)

Bed Swing Research Paper
A front swing is an asset to any home as some realtors believe owning one sells a house faster.
Have a wooden swing brings out the enjoyment of being a kid again and swinging. It is also a
great place for relaxing after a meal or coming home from a hard days work. Most homes that are
built these days do have front porches but I have noticed that some builders are bringing them
back. Even if we do not have a front porch we can hang a swingfrom a strong and durable patio
cover or strong large tree branches.
Porch swings make cozy place for lounging with your best friend for morning coffee. They are
also a good place for reading daily newspaper or just relaxing on a rainy day. Placing cushions on a
wooden porch swing makes them more comfortable especially for gazing at the stars and enjoying
warm summer breezes.
When purchasing a wooden swing there are a few things to take into consideration. Do you have
somewhere to hang a swing or are you thinking of buying a free standing swing? If you are going
to hang the swing be sure it comes with all the proper hardware. If it is free standing all you need
is a place where you will enjoy it the most. You also need to measure your front porch to sure to
get the correct size swing for that area. It would be better to ... Show more content on

The most popular woods are wicker, cedar, pine, cypress, pine, teak, and sometimes alder. Wicker
porch swings were very popular in the twenties and thirties and still hold their charm today;
wicker can also be painted to match your house. Cedar porch swings are very popular for their
ability to withstand any type of weather. The natural oils in cedar will prevent decay and keep
the little bugs away. The color of cedar starts out as reddish brown and will turn silvery gray as it
ages. Cypress porch swings are very durable and will hold paint longer than any other wood.
Cypress has a tendency to get small cracks that are referred to as weather

Arguments Of Pascal s Wager
The argument was proposed by Blaise Pascal, a seventeenth century French philosopher, who
suggested that people should place their faith in God not because there is evidence for His
existence but because of the consequences.
The argument can be found in a section of his Pensees entitled infrini rien . Pascal suggested that
humans all bet with their lives as to whether or not God exists, hence, a wager. However, in a
section of the Pensees, Pascal had presented three arguments which might have also be known as
wagers . It is only the last of the arguments that has been known as the Pascal s Wager . Even
though the other two arguments seems to be more convincing than Pascal s Wager , it has its own
stand and popularity in the argument for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is almost rational for us to believe in Him because of the way that the argument is being
constructed.
But, I m not entirely convinced that believing the Christian God is the best bet for me to enter
heaven and avoid hell, even though Pascal s Wager is an argument that looks beyond the evidence
of God. I will be talking about one of the three criticisms against Pascal s Wager and that is
Entrance Criteria to Heaven .
According to the wager, the way to enter heaven is to put our faith in the Christian God and
believe. It is true, and even stated in the Bible, that in order to enter heaven, one must believe. For
most religion with a monotheistic God, such as Islamic, the way to enter heaven is to believe.
However, in the entrance criteria criticism, it is stated that Pascal s Wager blindly assumes that the
reward and punishment are distributed based on one s belief or disbelief. I agree with the criticism
that there could be other ways of distributing rewards and punishment, and not just something based

Three Athletes Research Paper
Everyday, people are walking past the State Gymnasium to go to their classes, to catch the bus, or
to workout. Without looking at their surroundings, most of them fail to realize that they are
missing out at a beautiful, powerful, impressive display of art. This amazing embodiment to Iowa
State is called the Three Athletes. The Three Athletes exhibits three different sports, a football
player, a track runner, and a basketball player. Each sport is equally significant to the other. By
exploring its history, its importance, and its appropriateness as a piece of art on the IowaState s
campus, the Three Athletes will no longer be unnoticed. Evidently, behind every accomplished
piece of work, there is a story or history behind it. The Three Athletes

The Genre Of Victire In William Wordsworth s Peter Bell
In recent years, William Wordsworth s Peter Bell has become the subject of much critical
discussion. In an article entitled, J. H. Reynolds Re Echoes the Wordsworthian Reputation: Peter
Bell, Remaking the Work and Mocking the Man, Brian Bates focuses on subsequent parodies of
Peter Bell in order to expose how the parodies mock Wordsworth s use of genre, poetic diction, and
subject matter. Despite this harsh criticism, Bates suggests that the parodies renew our
perspective and distance us from the first reading of Wordsworth s Peter Bell. This distance
prohibits the reader from fully conceptualizing the significance of Peter Bell and undermines
Wordsworth s abilities as a writer. John Hamilton Reynolds parody entitled Peter Bell: A Lyrical
Ballad was the catalyst for all of the subsequent parodies that were written about Peter Bell.
Reynolds satirizes the main character Peter Bell, but he also predicts the ruin of Wordsworth by
suggesting that this work leads to his demise. The parody ultimately serves as a distortion of
Wordsworth s qualms with morality, which he conveys through Peter Bell s journey of self
discovery. William Wordsworth
dramatizes real life situations by using aspects of the gothic genre
in order to portray the topic of repentance. In this paper, I will examine William Wordsworth s
thematic concerns with death in Peter Bell in order to observe the extent to which the gothic mode
of writing structures the concept of repentance and the ways

Bao Qin s Wild Swans
Throughout the last month of this class, we have had the privilege to read the book titled, Wild
Swans by Jung Chang. To the extent of the required readings of the book, I have analyzed the
context and have become aware that this piece of work was about much more than what life was
like throughout China and Japan between 1909 1949. This book specifically, was about the lives
of Yu fang and Bao Qin. Both of these characters have been influenced by their culture and
surroundings in some way. For the purpose of this essay, I will be discussing why Bao Qin,
formally known as Wild Swan, preferred the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to the Kuomintang
(KMT) based solely off of her experiences, while also comparing and contrasting her choice to her

One of the main reasons he joined because he viewed capitalism as an evil system that exploits
the poor and down trodden. As a child, Comrade Wangs father died of overwork and strain
because he was trying to take care of fifteen dependents during a great depression and with heavy
taxes. Their family business ended up being sold to pay off the debts, and this scattered the family. I
imagine he wanted a new revolution for China where everyone would be based upon equality. Once
he came in contact with fellow Communist members, I assume he felt a connection with them,
knowing that there should be a change in society. If Communism would have been active in his
childhood, his family would not have been separated and who knows how much longer his father

Essay on A City Upon a Hill by John Winthrop
In John Winthrop s essay City Upon a Hill , Winthrop expresses his distinct views on the aims of
the Puritans coming to New England. During the early 17th century in Europe, some groups
separated from the Church of England. These groups were known as the Pilgrims, who founded
Plymouth Colony in 1620. This religion had a direct impact on religious ideas and culture in
America. John Winthrop acquired a royal charter from King Charles I and created the
Massachusetts Bay Colony. City Upon a Hill was written on the ship during the first mass Puritan
migration to New England. This document provided the followers with a plan regarding their goals
upon arriving in America. Winthrop firmly believes that the people who are willing to be fully...

He stresses throughout the essay that the settlers who are willing to be involved in this mission
must put their whole life into it and come together as one if they want their religion to succeed as
a model for other Christian churches throughout the world. Winthrop says that God will help them
in their times of need, and bless them in return for their faith in him. The author uses biblical
references such as Nadab and Abihu. He uses this to show the consequences of innovation in
worship. They were blessed by God until there were transgressions including their unauthorized
entry into the Holy of Holies , lack of reverence, and intoxication. The Lord had given them clear
instructions on how to do something, but Nadab and Abihu decided to disobey him do it in their
own choosing. He references them to give an example of sinning against the Lord. Another biblical
reference Winthrop makes is Saul and Amaleck, in which Saul makes a great mistake that denies
him his kingdom and results in his downfall. Winthrop mentions this because he is trying to convey
that the settlers are required to obey the Lord s wishes at all times.
Throughout the sermon, John Winthrop makes himself very clear about what he wants the
Massachusetts Bay Colony to accomplish when he establishes it. He desires it to be a strictly
religious society that will act as an example for the rest of the colonies. Winthrop lays out a plan of
exactly how he wants the colonists to act

Fibromyalgi A Short Story
The beach exploded with noise as children ran around, playing whatever game their imaginations
could dream of. Toddlers with shovels and pails were building wonderful sand castles with their
parents. Some of the other older kids raced around the beach deciding which one was it , while
chuckling to themselves. The sound of yelling Mine! and FREE! came from the young volleyball
players. Children were laughing and playing as the waves came crashing down upon them.
Seagulls, squawking and screeching, waiting for someone to chase after them, or feed them. The sun
s heat with mixture of the cool wind made a lovely combination. The warm water covered people s
feet as they talked and had their own conversations. The ideal weather was perfect... Show more

A Brief Note On The And Licensed Contractors
In August of 2014, Hurricane Iselle hit the Island of Hawaii, where I live. She was violent and
mean as she swept across our shores. In her wake, our electricity and telephone lines went down.
I wondered for weeks as the telephone and electricity repair crew worked 24 hours, seven days a
week trying to restore service to all of us in need. Despite the drawbacks of broken power lines,
fallen trees, and no water, I felt confident that those repairing the lines were certified electricians
and licensed contractors. Our lives today are filled with a vast number of products with some
kind of implanted computer part and software program. We used to enjoy the slumber of using a
basic analog phone or television. Remember the IBM Selecta, manual calculators, and books
that you can check out at the library to read? How about something as simple as boiling eggs on
an old fashion firewood stove? The point being, we have evolved as a technological dependent
society. It was like a storm that swept over the world. It came fast and fierce. Business today are
experiencing major problems finding qualified, trained, and certified computer technicians,
engineers, and employees do what is needed, to meet those demands. There are many different
types of certifications to consider. The list includes: CCNA, CCNP, Citrix, Comptia A+, Comptia
net+, Comptia Security, Microsoft, Microsoft Business Solutions, Oracle 10g, Oracle 9i, and Sap.
Some of these certifications are given by Microsoft, CISCO,

Theme Of Persecution
Whenever a person falsely believes they are being conspired against by others is called delusions
of persecution. An example of delusion of persecution would be that the government is spying on
an individual (e.g. tapping their phone lines) because they were wrongfully identified as a
terrorist (Specific Themes of Delusions). There are four general types of delusions: bizarre
delusions, non bizarre delusions, mood congruent delusions, and mood neutral delusions.
Moreover, there are specific types of themes of delusions. These themes range from: control (e.g.
another person is able to control your brain) to grandeur (e.g. believing that you are God) to mind
reading (e.g. others can read your mind) (Specific Themes of Delusion). For example,... Show more

My great aunt came to visit my grandma, and decided to stay with her in her apartment duplex
for a few months. In the beginning everything was normal, until I realized that she looked tensed
all the time and constantly kept looking outside her window without motive or at least I
thought. In one of the many visits, I heard her ask my dad, Oye mijo, tu no escuchas que
siempre hay alguien afuera de la puerta? This question struck me as odd. Why would she ask
that when she knew there were other people living in the apartments? Ultimately, I found out
that she had been suffering from delusions of persecution for three years. Every now and then,
when we would go out to eat, or go for a stroll, I would catch her looking behind her back or
walking hurriedly alongside us. Also, she would repeatedly ask us, No creen que ese sujeto se ve
muy sospechoso? , or she would murmur, Me siguieron hasta aca. Como me encontraron? One day,
her delusions got so bad that she had a desperate and wild look in her eyes, while she took an
erratic, lungful s of air. Mijo creo que ya me voy a regresar a mi casa... ya no puedo mas, she
declared, as she started packing her bag. Later that day she was on her way

Should Children Have To Read More Analysis
Rough Draft Unit 2 EA 2
The topic that i am writing on is if children should have to read more. My writing in this will be
on the effects of reading in their lives. Reading is important because you need it in daily life: reading
a recipe, or a road sign, or a schoolbook. Without reading our lives become significantly more
dangerous, if we can t see road signs, or ingredients in a recipe, or read a map. Overall reading is an
essential skill in today s world. My claim is that children should be required to read more
because almost every job requires reading, and reading has a base importance in life. Reading is
important because most good jobs require reading. On the website Learn to read Prince
George.com section: Why is reading important? It states Reading is a vital skill in finding a
good job. Many well paying jobs require reading as a part of job performance. On another website
skills you need .com is says If you are either applying for a job or looking for a promotion with

Reading is fundamental to live and function in today s society. There are numerous adults who are
unable to read the instruction on a medicine bottle ... it can make life difficult and potentially

  • 2. Clarinet Research Papers It s all fun and games until someone breaks a reed. Anonymous (Nee). Clarinets and saxophones are two different instruments that are in the woodwind family. The clarinet was the first instrument I learned, and I played it in concert band for middle school and in marching band during my first two years of high school. I learned the tenor saxophoneat the end of my freshman year, and I play it for jazz band and show choir pit. They are both equally fun instruments to play, and they are not too difficult to play. The clarinetand saxophone are different in ways such as history, shape, keys, sound and variety but are also similar in these ways. Firstly, the history of the clarinet and saxophone are different. The clarinet is a modern version of a directly developed from the instrument, Chalumeau ( The Clarinet ). The creator of the clarinet, Johann Christoph Denner and his son, also named Johann, decided to make some changes to the chalumeau. They added keys, a bigger bell and a separate mouthpiece. • 3. `` Moral Machines `` By Robert J. Sawyer And Gary Marcus Myths are a good representation of how technology works in a society. This is due to their valuable lessons which relate the impact of technological history on society over a period of time. Two authors by the names of Robert J. Sawyer and Gary Marcus elaborate the connection between science fiction and ethics to technology which compares to Prometheus s myth. Sawyer explains the relationship in her essay The Purpose of Science Fictionin which he justifies that sciencefiction can portray the outcomes of futuretechnology. Marcus justifies this connection in his essay Moral Machines when he describes how automated machinery should include ethical moralities in reference to how they are being used in real life scenarios. Sawyer and Marcus reveal the relationship of science fiction and ethics to technology which relates to the themes of Prometheus through science fiction and ethical motives. Prometheus was well known for giving the human race the gift of fire. He delivered fire to the world by stealing it from Zeus due to a conflict between the two. Prometheus was punished for his wrongdoing in which Zeus chained Prometheus to a boulder so an eagle would come to eat his liver every day. Prometheus s actions can represent a theme of progress in which he helps humans proceed around nature s boundaries. Humans encounter obstacles in their lives to achieve a better life and live comfortably, but the fire is the stepping stone to human success. Prometheus s gift to the world ... • 4. Persuasive Essay On Civil Disobedience Civil disobedience is a nonviolent act that allows us to protest against, unjust laws or any policy that people do not tend to agree on. An example of someone that acted on this was, Martin Luther King Junior in Letter from a Birmingham Jail, was the way that the did protest against human right and oppression, in the lense, Martin shows it and explains that on every act of injusticeness has a negative outcome. The artifact, Antigone by Sophocles you can see Antigone fight against the injustice act of burying her brother. In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self purification; and direct action(King Jr., 1). Both of these two uses four major principles, to fight against the importance of unjust laws. Justice does not appear and occur easy for anyone that is trying to fight for it. Martin has been fighting for a long time to make justice for all humans, which were end segregation and racial oppression. Martin and the others used non violent protest in order to convince the laws to change without any affect to hurting anyone. He did this by doing sit ins and freedom rides. As for Antigone all she ever wanted was to have a simple burial, where she can bury her brother Polynices but Creon mandated that her and everyone prohibited to do so. The only reason why she can not do so because it offends the gods and is against morality. Who ever does so will be sentenced to death. Martin and Sophocles use collection of facts, one of four steps of direct action of a nonviolent campaign. First major principal, collection of facts is that you need to have examine every detail of an injustice act. Every single details matters in this situation because the smallest little thing you miss to mention can then change the whole story of the situation. By doing this it gives us the opportunity to get truth on what really occurred. An example showing this was during the time period in the 1960s in Birmingham when segregation was considered an important time in history. It was a place where African American were treated brutally and cruelly. He also talks about how the were treated terribly treated in the courts, and have experienced ... • 5. Analyzing Cyclical Steam Injections Of A Heavy Oil Reservoir For our senior project, we analyzed cyclical steam injections in a heavy oil reservoir using reservoir simulations. We began the project as though we had been contracted to analyze a cyclical steam injection project in a pay zone similar to the Clearwater formation in Cold Lake, Alberta. In this heavy, dead oil reservoir the facilities, injectors, and producer are already set up in the field with a seven spot orientation. The company wants further analysis on the project once the market declined, requesting reservoir simulations be conducted over a six year period before proceeding. Through the program CMG STARS, we were able to simulate production in a field with similar characteristics, employing field data from technical papers referenced in this paper. The complex equations simultaneously solved in CMG STARS including multiphase fluid flow and conservation equations make the program an invaluable reservoir evaluation tool. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to monitor the production responses to changes in steam injection parameters, compiling over 40 simulations. The injection was optimized with a total of 35 simulations after identifying the most significant parameters impacting production. Net present values and cumulative production of oil and water were analyzed to construct a recommendation for the project. In this paper, we will discuss the model construction, sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic analysis in greater detail. Although the constraints of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Age Of Faith In The Middle Ages The Middle Ages came right after the fall of the Roman Empire because of its lack of centralized religion and its inability to deal with the raids of the nomadic and germanic tribes. Compared to all the revolutionary advancements of the Roman Empire, many considered the Middle Ages to be a big step back in lifestyle, education and technological advancements. The The Middle Ageshave been defined as many things. It has been called the Age of Feudalism, The Golden Age, and the Dark Ages. However, the Age of Faith is a more accurate title, because during the Middle Ages the church was the main source of unity in Europe, the church was viewed as the most important and powerful part of Europe, even more powerful than the kings and governments, and finally the Age is Faith is a more accurate title because people followed the church no matter what, even through situations as extreme as the Crusades. The first reason The Age of Faith is the most accurate title is that during the Middle Ages the church was the main source of unity in Europe. For example the chart of a manor during the Middle Ages shows that a chapel was the only thing that every single manor had (Document 2). A chapel was the one thing that connected every manor. Also according to the excerpt from the museum The Roman Catholic Church was the single most unifying structure in Europe. It touched everyone s life, no matter what their rank or class was or where they lived (Document 3). This shows another example of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Forging, Horticulture, Agriculture, Industrialism And The... The five modes of livelihood are, foraging, horticulture, pastoralism, agriculture, Industrialism and the Information Age. Foraging is based on obtaining food only available in nature, this includes fruits, small animals, nuts, berries, and etc. This is done by either gathering, fishing, or hunting resources. The labor of this system is family based and the gender roles do overlap. Though men tend to do the hunting, while the females do more foraging. Foraging has a high degree of sustainability if there s undisturbed outside forces. Horticulture is the process of getting food by cultivating crops within gardens. These crop yields support denser populations than foraging and allow for permanent settlements. The labor is made by usually a main family. Men often do more work in terms of actual manually labor, such as clearing the land. Everyone has a part in the process even the children. They help out by caring for siblings, fetching fuel, and hauling water. People wanted change, the old ways and traditions were slowly being neglected and social rules of that time were put into question. The Beat Generation were the ones leading the way in questioning the old rules and regulations not because they wanted to but because America wanted it. Death is a phenomenon that many do not understand in America. America tells many that life should be lived in a certain way in order to live life to its fullest before death comes creeping along. Humans create this false pursuit of happiness before they leave this world. It leaves many in fear of death. Religious beliefs teach humans to embrace death. If that is the case, then why is it that citizens in north America still fear death when living a happy life in a first world country. Jack Kerouac is inspired to write spontaneously through his travels in Mexico because of Tristessa s junk addiction and how she embraces death even though her life is miserable. The romantic s wrote many poems about death and many artists from that era embraced death because it evoked a high level of curiosity in humans. Kerouac seems to embrace this notion too because it expresses an essential truth about the human condition. He was inspired by a dove in Tristessa s house, Yet so much like Tristessa s eyes that I wish I could comment and tell Tristessa: Thou hast the dove s eyes. (Kerouac 26) the Dove represents the communication between the two worlds and more importantly it represents peace of the deepest kind. It sooths all our worries and troubled thoughts. It helps to appreciate the little things in life. • 9. Francisco De Goya Black Paintings Francisco de Goya s Pinturas negras, or Black Paintings, are some of the most grotesque and unsettling images in art history, with one painting in particular, Saturno devorando a su hijo, or Saturn Devouring One of His Sons, standing out the most amongst them all. With his wildly staring eyes, gaping mouth and half eaten son in his hands, it makes one wonder what would drive an artist to create an image like this. Goya, however, was not uneducated in the horrors of the world, witnessing the travesties of the Peninsular War, the atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, surviving two life threatening illnesses, with one leaving him completely deaf, and the death of six of his seven children. Perhaps it was one of these instances in particular that encouraged him to conceiving this disconcerting figure, or perhaps it was a combination of the three. At the beginning of Goya s career, in 1777, he was commissioned to create a series of tapestry cartoons from the Royal Tapestry Factory, designing some 42 patterns over five years. Some of his more popular paintings were originally tapestry cartoons such as The Parasol. His use of the popular Rococo style, brought him to the attention of the aristocracy of Spain. In 1789, he was appointed to court painter to Charles IV and then the following year, he became First Court Painter. His portraits of the king, queen and royal family, were anything but flattering. The concept is inspired by the Situationist movement, an international organization of social revolutionaries which produced avante garde art critical of capitalist modes of production through the 1950s to the 1970s (Rasmussen, 36). • 16. Ethics And The Ethics Of Ethics Ethics Nurse s Before all parties involved can begin a working relationship, each individual should discuss and obtain a written description of the duties expected and the code of ethics that should be respected and followed; by beginning with a clear understanding of ethical values. Ethics: the study of right and wrong and how to tell the difference between them. Since ethics also means people s beliefs about right and wrong behavior, ethics can be defined as the study of ethics. Ethics is not, however, the study of what people do or how people act. This is descriptive, not normative. Ethics is normative about what ought to be, not what is so; the study of what people say or think one ought to do. Global Warming Has Left Upon Our Natural Environment Introduction With July 2013 recorded as one of the worst snowfalls in the history of Australia winters, well concerned fears are fulminating regarding the future of the ski industry, namely the ski resorts that reside in the Snowy Mountain region including Thredbo, Perisher, Charlotte s Pass and the Selwyn Snowfields, and several major Victorian ski resorts including Mt Buller, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek. The Alps are the only region on the Australian mainland in which deep snowfalls naturally, however, with the ongoing impact that global warming has left upon our natural environment, it feels ominously close that the premonition of a snow deprived winter may be as soon as 2050. More erratic looking winters have confirmed the beliefs of many that the ski industry may not be viable beyond the mid century mark, given that the ski industry s economic viability is highly sensitive and contingent on the number of days with good snow cover that are received each year. According to a government commissioned report, the ski industries initial fears are well founded with ski seasons to be predicted to be 10 weeks shorter, and the snow depth considerably declined. While some may reflect upon the 2013 winter and overlook the enormity of the issue, scientists predict that the impact of global warming means the long term outlook for the ski industry is bleak, and not positive. On the contrary, concentration camps were created out because of Hitler s pure hatred for the jews. When Hell asked Hitler what he intended doing if he ever had full freedom of action against the Jews, his response was: If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first and most important job. The depth of field indicates what is significant in the street shot outside the cigar stand, having the Tramp, policeman and stand owner in focus. As the Tramp is escorted to the paddy wagon several observers walk into the frame and into focus, enhancing the narrative. Editing The style of edit for this sequence and entire film is continuity editing which produces a logical and straightforward narrative. The sequence begins with an establishing shot of the city road setting, orienting the viewer. The editing follows real time human experiences, for example, the Tramp enters the paddy wagon then it cuts to him sitting down on the benches with the rest of the convicted, minimizing the perception of breaks between cuts (invisible editing). The shot transitions are cuts which maintain the flow of the narrative and the character s actions. The shot /reverse shot between the Gamin and the Tramp in the paddy wagon conveys understanding between the two characters and sympathy from the Tramp. The conversation between the two characters is communicated through the editing as well as actions and facial expressions. Intertitles are placed within the shots to represent characters dialogue where they enhance the narrative most. For example, the intertitle displaying Now is your chance to escape! is placed in the instant the Tramp is pointing and urging the Gamin to run away. Editing reflects the decision the Tramp has to make when the Gamin beckons for him to escape with her. The pace of the editing and the shot size reflects the pause as he decides, drawing in the audience into engaging with the urgency of the decision. The camera literally is drawn into the two characters faces as the shots cut in closer. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The enduring nature and profoundness suggests that the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) may have influenced Clausewitz, which is undoubtedly also a bias of this author. One notion that is agreeable to this author is that the secondary trinity of the people, army, and government was Clausewitz attempt at the application of the theory. Education Is An Important Aspect Of Teaching And Teaching Critically evaluate the extent that performativity in education has on developing creativity in learning and teaching and assess the impact that this has on individuals Introduction As a concept towards education, performativity is one that seems to strongly divide opinion. There are many scholars who argue that an increasing emphasis on performativity within education has a detrimental effect on the levels of creativity that students and teachers can demonstrate, and in turn negatively effects the results of the educational process. On the other hand there are those that believe that performative analysis within education plays an important role in highlighting areas of success, and areas that require improvement. Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) agree that creativity is an important aspect of teaching and learning, however they also believe that a disciplined structure is important to allow this creativity to be successful: Occasionally, teachers fail to grasp that creative learning was not simply a question of allowing pupils to follow their interests; careful planning was needed for enquiry, debate, speculation, experimentation, review and presentation to be productive. Eugenics And The Eugenics Movement Introduction Human beings have always been interested in success, in making sure they survive, and creating new tools and technology to enable them to reach these goals. So it should come as no surprise that eugenics follows this same guideline in human history. A term originally coined by Francis Galton, first cousin to Charles Darwin, eugenicssimply means that the best people in society with the most healthy normal genes should continue to reproduce and pass on their goodness to the next generation, while the individuals with the unhealthy genes should be discouraged from having any children (Allen 2001:59). With movements beginning in the early 20th century, eugenicists and proponents of the eugenics movement, have taken particular interests in the heritability of social behaviors, implementing enforcement mechanisms such as military force, law, and forced medical procedures in order to maintain the well being of societies future generations. Although society today frowns upon many instances of eugenics in our history, it is still being practiced in the 21st century. Contemporary eugenics has become much more technologically advanced and individually focused through the means of prenatal diagnosis and preimplantation genetic diagnosis. Although these two approaches (past and present) to the eugenics movement are conducted in different ways, the motivations behind them are theoretically similar. • 43. Arguments Of Pascal s Wager The argument was proposed by Blaise Pascal, a seventeenth century French philosopher, who suggested that people should place their faith in God not because there is evidence for His existence but because of the consequences. The argument can be found in a section of his Pensees entitled infrini rien . Pascal suggested that humans all bet with their lives as to whether or not God exists, hence, a wager. However, in a section of the Pensees, Pascal had presented three arguments which might have also be known as wagers . It is only the last of the arguments that has been known as the Pascal s Wager . It is almost rational for us to believe in Him because of the way that the argument is being constructed. But, I m not entirely convinced that believing the Christian God is the best bet for me to enter heaven and avoid hell, even though Pascal s Wager is an argument that looks beyond the evidence of God. I will be talking about one of the three criticisms against Pascal s Wager and that is Entrance Criteria to Heaven . According to the wager, the way to enter heaven is to put our faith in the Christian God and believe. It is true, and even stated in the Bible, that in order to enter heaven, one must believe. For most religion with a monotheistic God, such as Islamic, the way to enter heaven is to believe. However, in the entrance criteria criticism, it is stated that Pascal s Wager blindly assumes that the reward and punishment are distributed based on one s belief or disbelief. I agree with the criticism that there could be other ways of distributing rewards and punishment, and not just something based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Genre Of Victire In William Wordsworth s Peter Bell In recent years, William Wordsworth s Peter Bell has become the subject of much critical discussion. In an article entitled, J. H. Reynolds Re Echoes the Wordsworthian Reputation: Peter Bell, Remaking the Work and Mocking the Man, Brian Bates focuses on subsequent parodies of Peter Bell in order to expose how the parodies mock Wordsworth s use of genre, poetic diction, and subject matter. Despite this harsh criticism, Bates suggests that the parodies renew our perspective and distance us from the first reading of Wordsworth s Peter Bell. This distance prohibits the reader from fully conceptualizing the significance of Peter Bell and undermines Wordsworth s abilities as a writer. John Hamilton Reynolds parody entitled Peter Bell: A Lyrical Ballad was the catalyst for all of the subsequent parodies that were written about Peter Bell. Reynolds satirizes the main character Peter Bell, but he also predicts the ruin of Wordsworth by suggesting that this work leads to his demise. The parody ultimately serves as a distortion of Wordsworth s qualms with morality, which he conveys through Peter Bell s journey of self discovery. William Wordsworth dramatizes real life situations by using aspects of the gothic genre in order to portray the topic of repentance. In this paper, I will examine William Wordsworth s thematic concerns with death in Peter Bell in order to observe the extent to which the gothic mode of writing structures the concept of repentance and the ways ... • 46. Bao Qin s Wild Swans Throughout the last month of this class, we have had the privilege to read the book titled, Wild Swans by Jung Chang. To the extent of the required readings of the book, I have analyzed the context and have become aware that this piece of work was about much more than what life was like throughout China and Japan between 1909 1949. This book specifically, was about the lives of Yu fang and Bao Qin. Both of these characters have been influenced by their culture and surroundings in some way. For the purpose of this essay, I will be discussing why Bao Qin, formally known as Wild Swan, preferred the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to the Kuomintang (KMT) based solely off of her experiences, while also comparing and contrasting her choice to her ... • 47. Essay on A City Upon a Hill by John Winthrop In John Winthrop s essay City Upon a Hill , Winthrop expresses his distinct views on the aims of the Puritans coming to New England. During the early 17th century in Europe, some groups separated from the Church of England. These groups were known as the Pilgrims, who founded Plymouth Colony in 1620. This religion had a direct impact on religious ideas and culture in America. John Winthrop acquired a royal charter from King Charles I and created the Massachusetts Bay Colony. City Upon a Hill was written on the ship during the first mass Puritan migration to New England. This document provided the followers with a plan regarding their goals upon arriving in America. He stresses throughout the essay that the settlers who are willing to be involved in this mission must put their whole life into it and come together as one if they want their religion to succeed as a model for other Christian churches throughout the world. Winthrop says that God will help them in their times of need, and bless them in return for their faith in him. The author uses biblical references such as Nadab and Abihu. He uses this to show the consequences of innovation in worship. They were blessed by God until there were transgressions including their unauthorized entry into the Holy of Holies , lack of reverence, and intoxication. The Lord had given them clear instructions on how to do something, but Nadab and Abihu decided to disobey him do it in their own choosing. He references them to give an example of sinning against the Lord. Another biblical reference Winthrop makes is Saul and Amaleck, in which Saul makes a great mistake that denies him his kingdom and results in his downfall. Winthrop mentions this because he is trying to convey that the settlers are required to obey the Lord s wishes at all times. Throughout the sermon, John Winthrop makes himself very clear about what he wants the Massachusetts Bay Colony to accomplish when he establishes it. He desires it to be a strictly religious society that will act as an example for the rest of the colonies. Winthrop lays out a plan of exactly how he wants the colonists to act ... Toddlers with shovels and pails were building wonderful sand castles with their parents. Some of the other older kids raced around the beach deciding which one was it , while chuckling to themselves. The sound of yelling Mine! and FREE! came from the young volleyball players. Children were laughing and playing as the waves came crashing down upon them. • 49. A Brief Note On The And Licensed Contractors In August of 2014, Hurricane Iselle hit the Island of Hawaii, where I live. She was violent and mean as she swept across our shores. In her wake, our electricity and telephone lines went down. I wondered for weeks as the telephone and electricity repair crew worked 24 hours, seven days a week trying to restore service to all of us in need. Despite the drawbacks of broken power lines, fallen trees, and no water, I felt confident that those repairing the lines were certified electricians and licensed contractors. Our lives today are filled with a vast number of products with some kind of implanted computer part and software program. We used to enjoy the slumber of using a basic analog phone or television. Remember the IBM Selecta, manual calculators, and books that you can check out at the library to read? How about something as simple as boiling eggs on an old fashion firewood stove? There are four general types of delusions: bizarre delusions, non bizarre delusions, mood congruent delusions, and mood neutral delusions. Moreover, there are specific types of themes of delusions. In one of the many visits, I heard her ask my dad, Oye mijo, tu no escuchas que siempre hay alguien afuera de la puerta? This question struck me as odd. Why would she ask that when she knew there were other people living in the apartments? Ultimately, I found out that she had been suffering from delusions of persecution for three years. Every now and then, when we would go out to eat, or go for a stroll, I would catch her looking behind her back or walking hurriedly alongside us. Also, she would repeatedly ask us, No creen que ese sujeto se ve muy sospechoso? , or she would murmur, Me siguieron hasta aca. Como me encontraron? My writing in this will be on the effects of reading in their lives. Reading is important because you need it in daily life: reading a recipe, or a road sign, or a schoolbook.
