Water Management From The Detroit Water Authority ( Dwa )...
Between April of 2014 and October of 2015, the city of Flint, Michigan redirected their water
management from the Detroit Water Authority (DWA), sourced from Lake Heron, to the Flint Water
System (FWS), sourced from the Flint River. This was a temporary, cost saving measure in
anticipation of a forthcoming pipeline, also from Lake Heron (Kennedy et al., 2016). After the
transition from the DWA to the FWS, residents were concerned with the water s possible toxicity,
questioning its odor, color, and taste. Soon, bacteria, including Escherichia coli, as well as disinfection
byproducts including total trihalomethanes [chloroform and bromoform, among others] were detected
in the water (Hanna Attisha, LaChance, Sadler, Schnepp, 2016). After the discovery of E. coli in
August 2014, residents were instructed to boil their drinking water (Goovaerts, 2016). In December
2014, water samples revealed high levels of lead, copper, and the trihalomethanes mentioned above.
Residents then reported skin irritation and declining health and were strongly advised against drinking
tap water without testing and filtration. Further testing of the water in February 2015 reported a water
lead level (WLL) of 104 µg/L, a number astronomically higher than the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) s action level of 15 µg/L (Goovaerts, 2016). As a result, on October 16, 2015, the water
source was switched back to the DWA. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and children were
instructed to drink bottled

Poisonwood Bible: Response 3 This novel is based on storytelling. Each girl has their own point of
view of what life is like in the Congo. For, example, it was absolutely terrible for Rachel. She never
wanted to be there from the start. When they first arrived in the Congo, no one wanted to be there.
Certain girls changed their minds. Ruth May, for example, conformed to the Congo culture. She even
made friends along the way, by playing games like Mother May I with the children of the Congo.
Leah did not really conform to the culture. She wanted to hunt with the guys, but she still was a part of
their culture. She fought for women s rights in the Congo. Leah ... Show more content on

It also talks about Patrice Lumumba getting assasinated. It also talks about the diseases the people in
the Congo were going through. Some of these diseases are: malaria, and malnutrition. They had scarce
food sources. They often die from both of these things. This can be read as a religious allegory
because it talks about the Baptist missionaries. They had to deal with the rejection from the Congolese
people. The Congolese people rejected the religion and the Price family since they were white. The
Price family also had to deal with the same diseases and situations as the people of the Congo. They
had to sleep with mosquito nets or the mosquitos would have eaten them alive. Some of the Prices

Competitive Strategy Of KFC
Background of the study
Supply chain management plays a very crucial role in the success of any organization and how it can
cater to a customer s need and provide the maximum satisfaction. Supply chain management is
essentially managing the flow of goods/services of an organization. It involves raw materials storage,
transportation, inventory management, distribution and procurement.
Effective supply chain has gained a very high prominence in the current market scenario. The
numerous amounts of demands from the customers has increased significantly over the past decades.
They not only expect a reliable and good quality product/service, they also want it to be delivered to
them well in time. The decline in product life cycle and the quick ... Show more content on

The fast food chain has differentiated their process of manufacturing by ensuring a unique type of
products. Also, they possess one of the strongest distribution channel in the fast food sector, which
allows them to either procure or to produce the required products in less time and at reduced costs.
The competitive strategies the restaurant follows are:
1. Differentiation
The restaurant prides itself in having a differentiated process to manufacture its products and thus
retain a healthy competitive advantage. They achieve this by providing the best quality products that
are unique to its customers, in the shortest possible time and at an affordable rate. The fact that it
provides the world s best fried chicken speaks volumes of how big an advantage it holds over its
competitors.
2. Cost leadership strategy
Any company who wants to achieve higher margins of profits, first and foremost aims at reducing the
cost of its production. KFC is no different than any other company. They do so by attaining high
efficiency in production, operational and marketing areas. It provides its differentiated products at an
affordable rate and gives a good value to its

Over the next two and a half years, we worked to develop and refine CRISP DM. We ran trials in live,
large scale data mining projects at Mercedes Benz and at our insurance sector partner, OHRA. We
worked on the integration of CRISP DM with commercial data mining tools. The SIG proved
invaluable, growing to over 200 members and holding workshops in London, New York, and Brussels.
By the end of the EC funded part of the project mid 1999 we had produced what we considered a good
quality draft of the process model. Those familiar with that draft will find that a year later, although
now much more complete and better presented, CRISP DM 1.0 is by no means radically different. We
were acutely aware that, during the project, the process model was still very much a work in progress;
CRISP DM had only been validated on a narrow set of projects. Over the past year, DaimlerChrysler
had the opportunity to apply CRISP DM to a wider range of applications. SPSS and NCR s
Professional Services groups have adopted CRISP DM and used it successfully on numerous customer
engagements covering many industries and business problems. Throughout this time, we have seen
service suppliers from outside the consortium adopt CRISP DM, repeated references to it by analysts
as the de facto standard for the industry, and a

Head Injury Case Study
Do not write this assignment as question/answer. Put everything together as one complete essay.
Your brain sits in your skull and is surrounded by cerebral fluid. When a head injury occurs, the brain
may collide with the skull, then bounce back and collide with the opposite side of the skull. At the
neuronal level, blow strong enough to create a concussion has the effect of twisting or stretching of the
axons, which in turn creates swelling. In many cases, the swelling will subside and the neuron may
return to normal. However, if the swelling of the axon is severe enough, the axon may break down and
can cause permanent damage. Many athletes will experience multiple concussions over the course of
their career. Recently the NFL has stated it expects 1 in 3 former players will develop long term
cognitive issues. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1. Name at least four specific brain structures {not just the lobes/cortexes} that would likely be
affected. Why do you think these structures are at risk for damage in a hit like the one described
above?
2. What are the functions of these four structures?
3. Based on the functions of the brain areas you identified above, what temporary symptoms would
you expect to see as result from trauma to these brain areas and why?
4. Since football players are at risk for experiencing multiple concussions during their lifetime, what
type of long term issues would you expect to see from more permanent damage to the brain areas you
identified above and why?
5. Based on what you have written, what type of regulations would you recommend for how soon a
player (of any sport) can return after a concussion?

Veterans Compensation For Veterans
With national security playing such sizeable a role today, it is important to ask questions about the
effects it has on the military personnel. Veterans go through a lot to protect, serve, and defend this
nation for a better tomorrow. But in response to their actions to benefit America, do American citizens
and our government do all to support our veterans. Are they appropriately being awarded
compensation as of loss, injury, and suffering? With the number of veterans growing are they
receiving recognition for all their efforts as an individual and a whole? The veteran population has
adapted through the ages, but there has always remained the solid respect and uttermost gratitude
towards them. Even though veterans are thought of very highly for their bravery, they are not
receiving adequate compensation and recognition.
The evolution of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has grown to accommodate and benefit
the new age of veterans. It dates back to the Revolutionary War where the Continental Congress
agreed to provide pensions for disabled soldiers. This was in an effort to raise support for the Patriots
side during the war. In the Civil War Era Nation s Homes were designed to aid injured soldiers. The
First Nations home located in southern Maine, admitted any Union soldier that needed medical
attention. Approximately thirty years latter marked the climax of the Nation s homes, for vets with a
total of eleven facilities nationwide ( About VA ). These programs were

The At The Graph, There Been Fluctuations On The Price Of...
From looking at the graph, there have been fluctuations in the share price from the 24th September
2014 till 5th November 2014. For a week from the 8th October 2014, the share prices have dropped.
This could have been due to a decrease in revenue. As a result, this may have led to investors falling
out with Cineworld and therefore, people may not have wanted to invest in the company due to its
poor sales. From the 15th October 2014 to the 29th October, there has been a steady increase in the
share price. This could have been due to an increase in sales and therefore building up investors
confidence to buy shares in Cineworld. Task 3 Cineworld Group was founded in 1995 by Steve
Wiener and Senior Management Team. It is one of the leading cinema groups in Europe. Between
1996 and 2004, 35 multiplex cinemas opened with the first one being located in Stevenage. Originally
a private company, Cineworld re registered as a public company in May 2006 and was listed on the
London Stock Exchange during 2007. In July 2008, Cineworld set up a joint venture screen
advertisement business with Odeon called Digital Cinema Media Limited. The first IMAX screen
opened in Edinburgh in December 2011 followed by a further 7 being opened between March 2012
and December 2012. In total, there are 81 cinemas with 79 being located in the UK and one each in

Evaluating Complex Interventions
Evaluating complex interventions is a considerable challenge, especially when dealing with programs
anchored in an ecological approach to health behavior change (Deschesnes, Martin, Hill, 2003). In
fact, very little is known about how best to implement a comprehensive and complex approach to
physical activity policy (Ogilvie et al., 2010; Sallis, Story, Lou, 2009). Therefore, a process evaluation
using program theory was conducted to gain a better understanding of the factors that could influence
the successful implementation of a state plan physical activity plan. However, the implementation of
the Nebraska Physical Activity and Nutrition State Plan (NPANSP) failed to fully implement and
reach the target audience. While funding and politics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study does have several limitations. The response rate to the interviews was low, bringing into
question the representativeness of the sample, however, respondents who did participate were directly
involved in both the planning and implementation phases. These participants were best able to account
for the barriers and facilitators at the DHHS organizational level and Partners N Health network.
While they may have represented practitioners with a higher level of interest in implementation, there
is a lack in the diversity of knowledge informing the program model and barriers and facilitators from
those working in the community. The interviews emphasized the Nebraska context but can be used to
inform future developments within the physical activity policy and implementation research, as well

History furnishes few examples of daring and adventure comparable to those of the fur trappers and
hunters of the Great West. Jedediah Strong Smith was a was a clerk, frontiersman, hunter, trapper,

South. All without government protection, they traversed through perilous mountain ranges filled with
savage foes. Canoed over uncharted waters, and only narrowly escaped. Jedediah s adventures were

British Romantic Poetry As A Revolutionary Part Of England...
British romantic poetry was remarkable for a myriad of reasons. Not only did it vouch for a focus on
nature in literature, but also showed an increased interest in both the emotion of the average person,
and a heightened esteem for imagination as well as the wonder and amazement that accompanied
children. Of course, it showed a darker side of the world as well, with some of the more distinguished
writers focusing on the poor and how they lived. Stylistically, there was also a clear influence from
Greek culture, with many poems taking inspiration from Greece s literature and culture, along with
other supernatural aspects that were added in.
In a place where many types of literature found their start, what made British Romantic poetry a
revolutionary part of England s culture? The answer is simple. Because the genre was so unique, it
attracted many different kinds of people, some of whom would never have been accepted in any other
literary genre. For example, Lord Byron was, by all accounts, an eccentric. His unique mannerisms
and his reportedly very flamboyant attitude earned his hordes of fans who both devours his work and
kept track of his life. Of course, there were more straight laced people as well, such as John Keats,
who started studying to become a doctor and wound up growing into one of the most loved British
poets after his death. Percy Bysshe Shelley, who was the father of the author of Frankenstein, Mary
Shelly, and also a very controversial figure in English

Act 3 Vs Hamlet Movie Essay
The director that does the best job presenting act three is Kenneth Branagh. In Branagh s act threethe
tone of the movie is much more positive and the scenes are far more colorful than the other two
versions. The colorfulness does a better job of portraying act three since everybody other than Hamlet
is having funand not grieving the death of the king. This is where the other two versions aren t as
great. In those two interpretations, the film is darker and depressing which does not encompass what is
actually happening in the story.Branagh s depiction of Claudius is also a lot more superior and
intelligent. In Branagh sact three Claudius only reacts to the fact that Hamlet knows he is responsible
for the murder and even then his reaction is subtle. In the other two ... Show more content on

Branagh s Hamlet is also greater than the other two since his Hamlet has more of a method to his
madness whereas Zeffirelli s does not. In Zeffireli and Olivier s interpretation of Hamlet, he is a lot
more abusive and aggressive towards the other characters; Zeffirelli s even goes as far to rape his
mother and almost have sex with her. Branagh s act three is superior in this aspect since Hamlet is not
a powerful man but is actually more of a coward and so portraying him physically abusing other
characters does not make any sense. Branagh s portrayal of the queen is also greater than the other
two. Gertrude has a lot more power in his version and is able to stand her ground against Hamlet; she
is also the only one not to have a sexual encounter with Hamlet. This makes Branagh s act three
greater because it is more realistic that the queen would be angry with Hamlet and stand up to him
rather than being submissive to him like the other two depictions. In this version Hamlet is much more
emotional. In the other two Hamlet rarely shows his

Stuart Daw Case
Question 1
Is there a way to estimate the cost of services and product to customers such that Stuart s Branded
Foods can be competitive in their market? Use the illustrations of the two customers to demonstrate
your approach. What would be the selling price per kit or per cup for each customer?
The costing approach should be based on per Transaction Basis rather than on per kit or per pound
basis because of the following reasons:
Current costs are allocated on a per kit basis, which is not an efficient cost allocation method.
Operational costs should be same irrespective of number of kits.
Equipment costs should be on a per kit basis as it depends on the number of kits sold.
Operational costs including Personnel costs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What impact might it have upon the business strategy of the firm?
If Stuart Daw adopts the Transaction based Pricing Strategy it may face the following impact
On Performance:
The price per cup for both small as well as large customers is reduced.
It can maintain competitiveness in the large customer segment by maintaining 15% Profit Margin.
Revenue stream generated from the customer segments may get impacted with changes in Transaction
Costs and subsequently Price per Kit.
Improved cost allocation will ensure that the company can maintain competitiveness without any
appreciation in costs to customers.
On Strategy:
The company should target to serve the large customer base with better profit margins and also choose
to serve those small customers who are willing to pay the targeted price per kit.
For difficult to serve small customers alternate and cost effective means of ordering, transporting and
fulfilling the orders should be sought.
Personnel costs, both direct and indirect should be brought under control.
Promote bulk orders among the small customers so that effective price/cup for small customers can be
brought down.
Question 3
What advice would you offer to Stuart Daw?
Our advice to Stuart Daw would be:
Stuart Daw should adopt the new Transaction Cost allocation mechanism, which will enable it to
remain competitive in the large customer segment.

Self Driving Research Papers
This is the era of technology. We are surrounded by machines in every simple task of life. When I was
young, I always wondered if I would ever be able to drive like older people do. A few years ago when
I heard about Cars that don t require a driver, I was so surprised and sad because I had already got my
learner s permit by that time and knew how to drive. I had always wanted to learn more about that
topic but since they are not popular like other gas automobiles, not many people know about them.
Last year, when I decided to major in IT, One of the first question I asked my IT professor was What
can you tell us about self driving vehicles? and he replied by saying, what news tells us. That made me
start researching on that topic. For my Introduction to IT class, I planned to write my research paper

The Quality Improvement Nursing Process
The Quality Improvement nursing process that I have chosen to research is patient safety. I have
chosen to focus specifically on the topic of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI s)
during hospitalization and their preventions. It is estimated that 15 25% of hospitalized patients
receive a urinary catheter throughout their stay, whether or not they need it. A large 80% of all patients
diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI) can be attributed to a catheter (Bernard, Hunter, and
Moore, 2012). The bacteria may gain entry into the bladder during insertion of the catheter, during
manipulation of the catheter or drainage system, around the catheter, and after removal. The difference
between men and women regarding UTI s related back to the human anatomy. A man s urethra is 8
inches in length, while a woman s urethra is 1.5 inches in length. Bacteria can quickly and easily make

comparison to men (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2012). Catheter related urinary tract infection (UTI) occurs
because urethral catheters inoculate organisms into the bladder and promote colonization by providing
a surface for bacterial growth. Brusch says, Once a indwelling catheter is placed, the daily incidence
of bacteriuria can be between 3 10%. Another large problem that results CAUTI s is that at times,
catheters are left in a patient longer than necessary. Prolonged use of

the group members may vary widely from one another.

Clearly, there was no correlation between group membership and the types of behaviours exhibited by
the groups. However, when asked later, participants did seem to have perceived an illusory correlation.
More of the undesirable behaviours were attributed to the minority Group B, than the majority Group
A.
Hamilton and Gifford s explanation of their findings is based on the idea that distinctive information
draws attention. Group B members and negative behaviours are both numerically fewer and therefore
more distinct than Group A members and negative behaviours. The combination of Group B members
performing negative behaviours, therefore, stands out more than the combination of Group A members
performing such behaviours. This causes the illusory correlation.
Explain social learning theory, making reference to two relevant studies.
Social Learning theory:
In particular social learning theorists emphasise the role of observation and imitation of role models.
In general, social development is seen as a continuous learning process, rather than as happening in
stages.
If children were passive witnesses to an aggressive display by an adult they would imitate this
aggressive behavior when given the opportunity. The researchers attempted to reduce this problem by
pre testing the children for how aggressive they were. They did this by observing the children in the
nursery and judged their aggressive behaviour on four 5 point rating scales.

The Pros And Cons Of The Fujifilm X-T20
FUJIFILM X T20 Review
Aside from its compact size, the Fujifilm X T20 is also lightweight and packed with more features that
make taking pictures fun, easy and with high quality images on print and otherwise. With the option to
take snaps fully automatic, it will soon become one of the best photography tools on the market.
The design of the X T20, however, is familiar to anyone acquainted with the Fujifilm X T2, X T10,
and X T1. In fact, it is similar to the X T2, except for a lower cost. And anyone who s owned any of
the previous models would know just how quickly this model followed after its predecessor.
Still, more options mean more toys to play with.
Design features
As a similar version of the X T2, many might say that the new Fujifilm X T20 is T2 s little brother.

Short Story First Day
As I run, trying desperately not to be late, my heart was pumping. It s my first day at my new school
and already I m 5 minutes late, wondering what will the teacher say and, more importantly, what my
new class will think of me. I run as hard as I can, not caring about my bag rubbing on my shoulders. I
run as hard and as fast as I can trying not to be too late. As I approach the stairs, I run up, jump the
three steps, burst through the door into the empty corridors, still wondering what everyone will say. I
run in the direction of my new classroom approaching the last corner. I swing round the corner and

classroom.
I slowly begin to walk into the room, turning round to shut the door that seems to have stopped
creaking. As the door clicks shut, I take another deep breath, still aware of the eyes burning holes in
my back, and turn round to face the eyes and the teacher. As I look up and I make eye contact with the
teacher, I open my mouth, preparing to say something, when she beats me to it.
Excuse me, can I help u? , she says still making eye contact. I realise that she must have forgotten
about the new kid starting today. I open my mouth and say, Erm, yes, I m new to the school today and
I ve been told that I m in this class .
All of the time I m saying this I can still feel the eyes of the class piercing my back.
When the teacher hears this she breaks eye contact with me at last and looks down at something on her

Insomnia With Short Sleep Duration And Mortality Essay
This paper will explore the study into and the results of a study into any possible connection between
insomnia with short sleep duration and mortality. The purpose of this paper is to bring forth a better
understanding of why this study was implemented and the benefits, if any, of the results stemming
from the study. We will focus on the study itself and of its participants. We will also be providing
thoughts on the study s conclusions and of any ramifications that may arise moving forward, that this
study provides. The methods that were used by the researchers were simple in theory and in
application. Bring together a group of participants, one thousand seven hundred and forty one to be
precise. Study their sleep patterns for a single night and then follow up on said participants throughout
a fourteen year span. The researchers would attempt to discover any and all links between insomnia
with short sleep duration and mortality in men and women with their findings. In doing so, the
researchers had hoped that their work would lead to a better understanding of the necessity for the
treatment of insomnia, and the need for further studies within this field. These researchers concluded
that there is a link between insomnia with short sleep duration with mortality in men, although they
were not as successful in finding a similar clear link in women.

management and technical fields. Tourism acts as an export industry by generating new revenues from
external sources. A host nation will gain foreign exchange, which will contribute to improve the nation
s balance of payments. For example in Australia, the economic benefits of tourism are well
documented. In 1997/98, tourism consumption in Australia totalled $58.2 billion contributing 4.5% of
Australia s total GDP and 6% of its employment. While in Caribbean, tourism as a means of promise
economic development. The tourism industry earns foreign exchange, provides jobs for citizens, and
revenue to government. Proponents of tourism argue that the movement away from the cash crop
economy that dominated the Caribbean since the colonial period, toward a tourism based economy
will build a much sounder economic foundation. In Jamaica, a tourist trade development board was
created in 1922, succeeded in 1956 by the Jamaican Tourist Board, composed of representatives form
government, air and ground transportation groups, travel agents, hoteliers, which has pursued a
strategy of promoting and developing mass tourism.

AUTOMATIC SUMMARIZATION OF NEWS ARTICLES USING TEXTRANK
ABSTRACT:
With an increase in the amount of information consumed every day, time is a prime resource. Keeping
up with current events is an activity that is essential for everyone, but saving time is also important.
Our paper is mainly focused on the implementation of Natural Language Processing techniques and
algorithms to summarize news articles from public sources such that they can be consumed in a short
amount of time, keeping the user updated of global as well as local events. We first provide an
Introduction by stating problems faced, and an overview of NLP and Automatic Summarization. We
then survey different types of Summarization, and detail a solution using the TextRank algorithm,
along with our proposed implementation.
1. INTRODUCTION:
In today s world time is limited but the information available online is in excess. With the advent of
personal mobile computing devices, we are being presented with a barrage of information every
minute. This makes it increasingly important to consume as much information as possible in the least
amount of time, while eliminating irrelevant and redundant data. News is another domain which falls
prey to this information overload. With the emergence of lightning fast news delivery through social
media services such as Twitter, Facebook well as various News Sources, It is a dire need of the day to

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a patient applied 10% potassium nitrate glycerine
based gel in decreasing dentinal sensitivity on teeth with exposed dentin apical to the cementoenamel
junction. The patients were divided into 3 treatment groups: group 1 was treated with a glycerine
based 10% potassium nitrate gel; group 2 was treated with a glycerine gel without potassium nitrate;
and group 3 received no gel and no treatment (control). Following brushing and flossing, groups 1 and
2 applied the gel to the test teeth using custom made soft acrylic trays, for a period of 5 min/ day for 4
weeks. Patient responses to cold water stimuli were measured at baseline (week 0), then at I , 2 , 3 and
4 week intervals. Group 1 patients showed a significant decrease in sensitivity to cold at week 2 only.
The group 2 patients showed a significant decrease in sensitivity to cold after 3 and 4 weeks. A
statistically significant decrease in sensitivity was noted between group 2 and group 3 patients at week
3, the most sustained decrease in sensitivity to cold was found on teeth treated with plain glycerine.

Social Security Act of 1935 We all can agree that in the past years there has been many events that has
impacted America. One ever lasting effect was left by the Social Security Act of 1935. The Social
Security programs are designed to protect individual families from income loss due to unemployment,
sickness, old age, death, and to improve citizens welfare ( Why Social Security? 2015).
Through public service and economic assistance, with a task of raising a family. Leaving a huge
impact on America s society that changed everyone s life.
In 1929 an event triggered to a change in America s economic life(Social Security Act 2015).The
stock market crashed. Black Tuesday hit Wall Street as investors traded some 16 million shares on the

In the aftermath of Black Tuesday, America and the rest of the industrialized world spiraled downward
into the Great Depression. the deepest and longest lasting economic downturn in the history of the
Western industrialized world. In the United States .
Over the next several years, consumer spending and investment dropped, causing steep declines in

The Trial Scene And Anatomy Of A Murder
Criminal law provides procedural rules in governing the criminal justice system s operation. In films,
the trial scenes rarely give an accurate depiction of the court process. The writers and producers make
the crime movies more dramatic as a technique to draw in the audience. The trial scene tends to be the
climax in crime films, which gives it more depth and meaning. The 1959 movie Anatomy of a Murder
follows a murder trial of a defendant who murdered a man that allegedly raped his wife. The movie s
plot is primarily focused on the entire trial of this case. While the 1988 movie The Accused, discusses
a case involving a women who was gang raped at a local bar. It portrayed this as a very serious offense

This was not the only film that had illustrated the criminal justice system. In the well known movie
The Accused, the judicial system is presented in an accurate manner. The film insinuated that since
Sarah Tobias, played by Jodie Foster, was dressed provocatively and she likes to have fun. It then
made the implication that she was looking for it, which is exactly what the opposing attorney argued.
In reality, these are the type of questions or implications that typically come up in rape cases. The plea
deals made in between the prosecutor and defense attorneys is something that happens a lot in the
criminal justice system (cite movie). Typically, in reality the prosecutor will first consult with the
victim before offering a plea deal. In the movie, that was something that was not by the prosecutor
Kathryn Murray, played by Kelly McGillis, which brought injustice to the victim. In this movie, the
audience first hand witnessed how this type of trauma can have a profound affect on the victim. There
are many negative effects that can result such as depression or anxiety (cite academic journal, p.389).
The movie showed how the victim was impacted in a mental and emotional type of way. This movie
shows that there are ways to bring forth the accused so that justice can prevail. The criteria for
describing crime films can have various definitions.

Dna Testing And The Second Amendment
DNAAS EVIDENCE
DNA testing was first used in criminal prosecutions in 1985 and is now admissible in all states. (Hails,
184) Scientific and legal communities seem to universally accept the use of DNA as good evidence.
Questions could arise regarding testing procedures. There are several testing methods that have been
proven reliable and easily pass general acceptance and scientific validity tests. This is causes number
of Daubert cases questioning DNA to decline. In most cases, the tests that are used are well
established and do not require a separate hearing (Hails, 160) Once it is established the testing method
used passes the Daubert test, the court must determine admissibility based on the Fourth Amendment.
The Fourth Amendment is the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and

Analysis Of Gregor Mendel s The Mid 1800 S
Before Gregor Mendel s discoveries in the mid 1800 s, most people had no clear idea as to why their
children, and grandchildren, looked like them! Most people assumed that because the child was in
their family, and created by them, that familiar looking offspring just simply happened. Gregor
Mendel put all that guessing to rest. Mendel did experiments on two different colored pea plants. In
the first test, he mixed a purple flowered pea plant, and a white flowered pea plant. He let these plants
fertilize and have off spring. These two plants were known as the Parent generation (P Generation).
The offspring they produced were known as the F1 Generation. The P Generation created an F1
Generation that was all purple pea plants. Mendel then bred a new generation of pea plants ONLY
breeding plants with themselves. This new generation was known as the F2 Generation. Within the F2
Generation, the white flowered pea plants began to show back up. The ratio of purple flowered pea
plants, to white flowered pea plants was a 3:1 ratio. Mendel also noted that the purple and white color
had not been blended; the white color was just purely masked by the purple color in the F1
Generation. Mendel was then able to make conclusions about simple breeding. He called the purple
flowers dominant, because they were more frequent than the white flowers. He called the white
flowers recessive, because they were less frequent than the purple flowers. Therefore he concluded
that the purple flowers were

the East Asian currency/financial crisis of 1997. In 1997, there occurred certain shifts in expectations
from the market. The regional contagion and confidence led to the East Asian financial turmoil. In
1990s, it had been reported that the microeconomic and macroeconomic businesses were not
performing as expected. The local and international investors had not held enough grips into the
looming financial challenges to be expected by the financial fragments. These investors panicked and
participated in fraudulent and faulty approaches and policies of operation in the market through the
influence of the International Monetary Fund together with the global financial body. The financial
policies, which were laid by the small businesses within the region, had failed to bring enough
financial performance in the local and international market. For instance, reports claim that these
businesses were not large enough to hold immense support to the structure of the economy in the
region. With time, the stability of the financial structure was brought to question. This was later
contributed by the influences obtained from the international financial bodies and the International
Monetary Fund committee (Corsetti, Pesenti, Roubini, 1999, p.305 6). The Asian financial crisis refers
to a period of the financial crisis that was experienced in Asia as at July 1997. This crisis

Investing Activities have a few advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are firstly, the greatest
benefit of investing, and the reason that individuals do it, is the chance to understand a benefit on the

connected to the amount of time and effort you put into it. In the event that you select the right venture
and are lucky, you can earn a lot of money in a short span of time. When this event takes place, you
already have a large amount of money to re invest. Secondly, sharp investors take a look at the long
term and timid far from getting rich and fast plans. Keeping up an enhanced portfolio over a range of
numerous years exploits the general upward pattern of stocks and gives budgetary assets to retirement.
This strategy is the best when it is begun early, with the goal that the investments have time to develop
over the length of the total career. At the point when the investments have been cashed out during
retirement, they can be worth more than the capital that was initially contributed.
The Disadvantages are firstly, the most serious danger of investing activities is that the property in

How Did Ben Carson Impact Literature
Ben Carson impacted literature in big ways. He wrote an autobiography about his life, and he loved
reading scientific literature when he was in college. Ben made literature more significant because his
stories opened people s eyes to his past. Ben showed them that everyone struggles, but those who
struggle have the potential to become the most influential people in the world. Ben has also indirectly
influenced history by the movie Gifted Hands that tells Ben s life story. Ben Carson wrote an
autobiography, and many others wrote biographies about him and his story. These stories are
significant in literature as well as history, because it spread his story across the world. Ben mentioned
his childhood when he said: I started reading about people of great accomplishment... and it dawned
on me suddenly that the person who has the most to do with what happens in your life is you
(Benjamin Carson Quotes pg. 1). Through reading and studying, Ben Carson s eyes were opened to
the world around him. He saw that others became great, and he set his mind to be likewise. ... Show

  • 2. Water Management From The Detroit Water Authority ( Dwa )... Between April of 2014 and October of 2015, the city of Flint, Michigan redirected their water management from the Detroit Water Authority (DWA), sourced from Lake Heron, to the Flint Water System (FWS), sourced from the Flint River. This was a temporary, cost saving measure in anticipation of a forthcoming pipeline, also from Lake Heron (Kennedy et al., 2016). After the transition from the DWA to the FWS, residents were concerned with the water s possible toxicity, questioning its odor, color, and taste. Soon, bacteria, including Escherichia coli, as well as disinfection byproducts including total trihalomethanes [chloroform and bromoform, among others] were detected in the water (Hanna Attisha, LaChance, Sadler, Schnepp, 2016). After the discovery of E. coli in August 2014, residents were instructed to boil their drinking water (Goovaerts, 2016). In December 2014, water samples revealed high levels of lead, copper, and the trihalomethanes mentioned above. Residents then reported skin irritation and declining health and were strongly advised against drinking tap water without testing and filtration. Further testing of the water in February 2015 reported a water lead level (WLL) of 104 µg/L, a number astronomically higher than the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) s action level of 15 µg/L (Goovaerts, 2016). As a result, on October 16, 2015, the water source was switched back to the DWA. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and children were instructed to drink bottled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When they first arrived in the Congo, no one wanted to be there. Certain girls changed their minds. Ruth May, for example, conformed to the Congo culture. Over the next two and a half years, we worked to develop and refine CRISP DM. We ran trials in live, large scale data mining projects at Mercedes Benz and at our insurance sector partner, OHRA. We worked on the integration of CRISP DM with commercial data mining tools. The SIG proved invaluable, growing to over 200 members and holding workshops in London, New York, and Brussels. By the end of the EC funded part of the project mid 1999 we had produced what we considered a good quality draft of the process model. Those familiar with that draft will find that a year later, although now much more complete and better presented, CRISP DM 1.0 is by no means radically different. We were acutely aware that, during the project, the process model was still very much a work in progress; CRISP DM had only been validated on a narrow set of projects. Over the past year, DaimlerChrysler had the opportunity to apply CRISP DM to a wider range of applications. When a head injury occurs, the brain may collide with the skull, then bounce back and collide with the opposite side of the skull. At the neuronal level, blow strong enough to create a concussion has the effect of twisting or stretching of the axons, which in turn creates swelling. In many cases, the swelling will subside and the neuron may return to normal. However, if the swelling of the axon is severe enough, the axon may break down and can cause permanent damage. • 8. Veterans Compensation For Veterans With national security playing such sizeable a role today, it is important to ask questions about the effects it has on the military personnel. Veterans go through a lot to protect, serve, and defend this nation for a better tomorrow. But in response to their actions to benefit America, do American citizens and our government do all to support our veterans. Are they appropriately being awarded compensation as of loss, injury, and suffering? With the number of veterans growing are they receiving recognition for all their efforts as an individual and a whole? The veteran population has adapted through the ages, but there has always remained the solid respect and uttermost gratitude towards them. Even though veterans are thought of very highly for their bravery, they are not receiving adequate compensation and recognition. The evolution of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has grown to accommodate and benefit the new age of veterans. It dates back to the Revolutionary War where the Continental Congress agreed to provide pensions for disabled soldiers. This was in an effort to raise support for the Patriots side during the war. In the Civil War Era Nation s Homes were designed to aid injured soldiers. The First Nations home located in southern Maine, admitted any Union soldier that needed medical attention. For a week from the 8th October 2014, the share prices have dropped. This could have been due to a decrease in revenue. As a result, this may have led to investors falling out with Cineworld and therefore, people may not have wanted to invest in the company due to its poor sales. From the 15th October 2014 to the 29th October, there has been a steady increase in the share price. This could have been due to an increase in sales and therefore building up investors confidence to buy shares in Cineworld. Task 3 Cineworld Group was founded in 1995 by Steve Wiener and Senior Management Team. It is one of the leading cinema groups in Europe. Between 1996 and 2004, 35 multiplex cinemas opened with the first one being located in Stevenage. Originally a private company, Cineworld re registered as a public company in May 2006 and was listed on the London Stock Exchange during 2007. Evaluating Complex Interventions Evaluating complex interventions is a considerable challenge, especially when dealing with programs anchored in an ecological approach to health behavior change (Deschesnes, Martin, Hill, 2003). In fact, very little is known about how best to implement a comprehensive and complex approach to physical activity policy (Ogilvie et al., 2010; Sallis, Story, Lou, 2009). Therefore, a process evaluation using program theory was conducted to gain a better understanding of the factors that could influence the successful implementation of a state plan physical activity plan. • 13. British Romantic Poetry As A Revolutionary Part Of England... British romantic poetry was remarkable for a myriad of reasons. Not only did it vouch for a focus on nature in literature, but also showed an increased interest in both the emotion of the average person, and a heightened esteem for imagination as well as the wonder and amazement that accompanied children. Of course, it showed a darker side of the world as well, with some of the more distinguished writers focusing on the poor and how they lived. Stylistically, there was also a clear influence from Greek culture, with many poems taking inspiration from Greece s literature and culture, along with other supernatural aspects that were added in. In a place where many types of literature found their start, what made British Romantic poetry a revolutionary part of England s culture? The answer is simple. Because the genre was so unique, it attracted many different kinds of people, some of whom would never have been accepted in any other literary genre. For example, Lord Byron was, by all accounts, an eccentric. His unique mannerisms and his reportedly very flamboyant attitude earned his hordes of fans who both devours his work and kept track of his life. Of course, there were more straight laced people as well, such as John Keats, who started studying to become a doctor and wound up growing into one of the most loved British poets after his death. • 14. Act 3 Vs Hamlet Movie Essay The director that does the best job presenting act three is Kenneth Branagh. In Branagh s act threethe tone of the movie is much more positive and the scenes are far more colorful than the other two versions. The colorfulness does a better job of portraying act three since everybody other than Hamlet is having funand not grieving the death of the king. This is where the other two versions aren t as great. In those two interpretations, the film is darker and depressing which does not encompass what is actually happening in the story.Branagh s depiction of Claudius is also a lot more superior and intelligent. In Branagh sact three Claudius only reacts to the fact that Hamlet knows he is responsible for the murder and even then his reaction is subtle. In the other two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Branagh s Hamlet is also greater than the other two since his Hamlet has more of a method to his madness whereas Zeffirelli s does not. In Zeffireli and Olivier s interpretation of Hamlet, he is a lot more abusive and aggressive towards the other characters; Zeffirelli s even goes as far to rape his mother and almost have sex with her. Branagh s act three is superior in this aspect since Hamlet is not a powerful man but is actually more of a coward and so portraying him physically abusing other characters does not make any sense. Branagh s portrayal of the queen is also greater than the other two. Gertrude has a lot more power in his version and is able to stand her ground against Hamlet; she is also the only one not to have a sexual encounter with Hamlet. This makes Branagh s act three greater because it is more realistic that the queen would be angry with Hamlet and stand up to him rather than being submissive to him like the other two depictions. • 21. The Quality Improvement Nursing Process The Quality Improvement nursing process that I have chosen to research is patient safety. I have chosen to focus specifically on the topic of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI s) during hospitalization and their preventions. It is estimated that 15 25% of hospitalized patients receive a urinary catheter throughout their stay, whether or not they need it. A large 80% of all patients diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI) can be attributed to a catheter (Bernard, Hunter, and Moore, 2012). The bacteria may gain entry into the bladder during insertion of the catheter, during manipulation of the catheter or drainage system, around the catheter, and after removal. The difference between men and women regarding UTI s related back to the human anatomy. A man s urethra is 8 inches in length, while a woman s urethra is 1.5 inches in length. Bacteria can quickly and easily make its way into a woman s bladder. This is why there is a large percent of women UTI s when used in comparison to men (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2012). Catheter related urinary tract infection (UTI) occurs because urethral catheters inoculate organisms into the bladder and promote colonization by providing a surface for bacterial growth. Brusch says, Once a indwelling catheter is placed, the daily incidence of bacteriuria can be between 3 10%. Another large problem that results CAUTI s is that at times, catheters are left in a patient longer than necessary. Prolonged use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, when asked later, participants did seem to have perceived an illusory correlation. More of the undesirable behaviours were attributed to the minority Group B, than the majority Group A. Hamilton and Gifford s explanation of their findings is based on the idea that distinctive information draws attention. Group B members and negative behaviours are both numerically fewer and therefore more distinct than Group A members and negative behaviours. The combination of Group B members performing negative behaviours, therefore, stands out more than the combination of Group A members performing such behaviours. This causes the illusory correlation. Social Learning theory: In particular social learning theorists emphasise the role of observation and imitation of role models. In general, social development is seen as a continuous learning process, rather than as happening in stages. If children were passive witnesses to an aggressive display by an adult they would imitate this aggressive behavior when given the opportunity. The researchers attempted to reduce this problem by pre testing the children for how aggressive they were. In the well known movie The Accused, the judicial system is presented in an accurate manner. The film insinuated that since Sarah Tobias, played by Jodie Foster, was dressed provocatively and she likes to have fun. It then made the implication that she was looking for it, which is exactly what the opposing attorney argued. In reality, these are the type of questions or implications that typically come up in rape cases. The plea deals made in between the prosecutor and defense attorneys is something that happens a lot in the criminal justice system (cite movie). Typically, in reality the prosecutor will first consult with the victim before offering a plea deal. In the movie, that was something that was not by the prosecutor Kathryn Murray, played by Kelly McGillis, which brought injustice to the victim. In this movie, the audience first hand witnessed how this type of trauma can have a profound affect on the victim. There are many negative effects that can result such as depression or anxiety (cite academic journal, p.389). The movie showed how the victim was impacted in a mental and emotional type of way. This movie shows that there are ways to bring forth the accused so that justice can prevail. The criteria for describing crime films can have various definitions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another huge inspiration of my decision to teach comes from a very recent inspiration of my senior year English teacher. Mrs. Cox had an almost overwhelming passion for teaching. She rarely missed a day of school and never came without a smile or positive attitude, and no matter how bad of a day any of could be having or how heavy of a topic we discussed she always knew how to make us leave with a smile on our face and hearts wanting to hear more of what she had to say. There are several testing methods that have been proven reliable and easily pass general acceptance and scientific validity tests. This is causes number of Daubert cases questioning DNA to decline. In most cases, the tests that are used are well established and do not require a separate hearing (Hails, 160) Once it is established the testing method used passes the Daubert test, the court must determine admissibility based on the Fourth Amendment. • 38. Analysis Of Gregor Mendel s The Mid 1800 S Before Gregor Mendel s discoveries in the mid 1800 s, most people had no clear idea as to why their children, and grandchildren, looked like them! Most people assumed that because the child was in their family, and created by them, that familiar looking offspring just simply happened. Gregor Mendel put all that guessing to rest. Mendel did experiments on two different colored pea plants. In the first test, he mixed a purple flowered pea plant, and a white flowered pea plant. He let these plants fertilize and have off spring. These two plants were known as the Parent generation (P Generation). The offspring they produced were known as the F1 Generation. The P Generation created an F1 Generation that was all purple pea plants. Mendel then bred a new generation of pea plants ONLY breeding plants with themselves. This new generation was known as the F2 Generation. Within the F2 Generation, the white flowered pea plants began to show back up. The ratio of purple flowered pea plants, to white flowered pea plants was a 3:1 ratio. Mendel also noted that the purple and white color had not been blended; the white color was just purely masked by the purple color in the F1 Generation. Mendel was then able to make conclusions about simple breeding. He called the purple flowers dominant, because they were more frequent than the white flowers. He called the white flowers recessive, because they were less frequent than the purple flowers. Therefore he concluded that the purple flowers were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Factors That Caused the 1997 East Asian Financial Crisis Factors That Caused the 1997 East Asia Financial Crisis Discuss the principal factors responsible for the East Asian currency/financial crisis of 1997. In 1997, there occurred certain shifts in expectations from the market. The regional contagion and confidence led to the East Asian financial turmoil. In 1990s, it had been reported that the microeconomic and macroeconomic businesses were not performing as expected. The local and international investors had not held enough grips into the looming financial challenges to be expected by the financial fragments. These investors panicked and participated in fraudulent and faulty approaches and policies of operation in the market through the influence of the International Monetary Fund together with the global financial body. The financial policies, which were laid by the small businesses within the region, had failed to bring enough financial performance in the local and international market. For instance, reports claim that these businesses were not large enough to hold immense support to the structure of the economy in the region. With time, the stability of the financial structure was brought to question. This was later contributed by the influences obtained from the international financial bodies and the International Monetary Fund committee (Corsetti, Pesenti, Roubini, 1999, p.305 6).
