Les Miserables Metaphors
Victor Hugo fills his pages of Les Miserables with dramatic, yet quirky, characters who each have
their own complex separate lives but are all connected in one way or another. The author s metaphors
most commonly include a character s comparison to an animal which aids the reader in understanding
the intensity of the character s traits. Hugo uses many metaphors to draw out the complex and unique
personalities of his characters with Jean Valjean being described as an owl, Thenardier as a boa
constrictor, and Javert as a tiger as well as a silent hound. To establish Jean Valjean s nocturnal and
wise attributes, Victor Hugo commonly compares Jean Valjean to an owl. Hugo begins this
comparison with his chapter titled A Nest for Owl and Wren and continues the comparison with Like
birds of prey, he had chosen this lonely place to make his nest (Hugo 121). The title connects Cosette
to the wren and Jean Valjean to the owl which then applies to the quote by saying Jean Valjean has the
wiseness of an owl when finding a home. Jean Valjean is in need of a secluded place being that he is
an escaped convict, and he made the wise choice of living in a home that seemed abandoned. Being an
escaped convict, Jean Valjean was prudent enough never to go out in the daytime. Every evening,
however, about twilight, he would walk for an hour or two... (Hugo 125). ... Show more content on

Jean Valjean is made out to be an owl with his wise and nocturnal traits. Thenardier is a boa
constrictor as he attempts to squeeze a man s every last cent out of him. And lastly, Javert is described
as a tiger who likes to pounce on anyone who goes against the law but is like a silent hound as he goes
about doing so. Each character takes on a unique trait in it s most intense and dramatic form that
makes Hugo s characters seem almost animal like which helps to draw the reader into the

Multinational Corporations And Its Impact On Workers Essay
Multinational Corporations Affect Workers In the text, International Political Economy, Thomas
Oatley and Debates: In Praise of Cheap Labor: Bad Jobs at Bad Wages Are Better than No Jobs at All
explain to their readers the different aspects of the political economy. This paper will begin by looking
at multinational corporations. Next, the paper will analyze the strengthens and weakness on
multinational corporations and its affect on workers. Lastly, the paper will give a personal evaluation
on whether the author (s) are convincing or if they are missing certain information. Multinational
corporations occupy a prominent role in the global economy. In the beginning, they emerged as
significant and enduring components in the international economy in the nineteenth century. Great
Britain was considered one of the largest capital exporting country during that century. By the year
2008, the number of these corporations was eleven times the number in operation in the early 1980s.
Ultimately, the number of MNCs continue to grow within the world s economy. The decision that
these firms make are based on global strategies for corporate success. They are not focused on the
conditions within any of these countries in which these firms conduct their business in. Multinational
corporations work simultaneously in national political systems and global market. Multinational
corporations can place multiple production facilities in multiple countries under the control of a single

How Did The Beatles Become So Popular
The appeal of the Beatles in 1964 could be attributed to many different things. One important reason
was that their style of music was like nothing else people would have heard on the radio. A lot of the
music on the radio was either pop or blues. The Beatles were heavily inspired by American pop and
blues acts such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. They combined
aspects of both genres to make very radio friendly music that was still unique to the American public.
Their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show along with a largely promoted tour of the United States
also helped launch them into superstardom in America. The Beatles were heavily promoted to be the
biggest band in the world, and it was extremely successful. They performed dozens of concerts all
over the United States, each of which was attended by thousands of screaming fans who were so loud
that the music was barely audible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are by far the most popular band of all time. Everybody knows who they are, and everyone in
the near future will too. The Beatles have inspired generations of children to buy instruments and start
a band. They also have influenced hundreds of musical acts, such as The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, U2,
The Beach Boys, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and countless other acts.
The Beatles also were responsible for bringing more popularity to psychedelic and experimental
music. Nothing that The Beatles wrote was new or groundbreaking, but they exposed millions of
people to music that otherwise would have never been heard. The Beatles, along with The Beach
Boys, were the first acts to have psychedelic songs that were high charting. If they weren t performed
by The Beatles, I highly doubt songs like A Day in the Life , Tommorrow Never Knows , and Lucy in
the Sky with Diamonds would get even a fraction of the popularity that they

Drafting the Constitution Essay
By the late eighteenth century, America found itself independent from England; which was a
welcomed change, but also brought with it, its own set of challenges. The newly formed National
Government was acting under the Articles of Confederation, which established a firm league of
friendship between the states, but did not give adequate power to run the country. To ensure the young
nation could continue independently, Congress called for a Federal Convention to convene in
Philadelphia to address the deficiencies in the Articles of Confederation. While the Congress only
authorized the convention to revise and amend the Articles the delegates quickly set out to develop a
whole new Constitution for the country. Unlike the Articles of ... Show more content on

One of the first debates over the institution of the National Executive was whether the Executive
should consist of a single person as motioned by James Wilson, of Pennsylvania, and seconded by
Charles Pinckney, of South Carolina. The idea of a single Executive met with strong opposition due to
conjuring images of their former oppression under British rule. Due to the fact that all delegates were
old enough to remember, many of them to have fought against, the rule by Britain, it was easy for
them to compare what they were trying to create to what they already knew and in some cases
detested. To defend against the Executive morphing into a monarchy there was a suggestion of a three
person Executive branch that was put forward by Randolph who felt the people would not properly
support a signal Executive. The idea of a three person branch would give a representative from the
Northern, Middle, and Southern States. Pierce Butler of South Carolina, having seen firsthand in
Holland the issues caused by plurality, strongly objected. As happened many times during the
convention the motion was postponed. James Madison made the suggestion that the powers of the
president devised before there be a decision of single or plural Executive stating, definition of their
extent would assist the judgment in determining how far they might safely entrusted to a single officer.

Samuel Sewall s And William Byrd Journal Analysis
Living distinct lives in the New World, two American authors present striking pictures of their
struggles in the land of opportunity. Samuel Sewall s and William Byrd II s diaries provide a glimpse
into the everyday routines of early American settlers. An accomplished judge, businessman, and
printer of Massachusetts Bay, Sewall writes about the developments around him. Likewise, Byrd, a
successful planter, slave owner, and author from Charles City County, Virginia, leaves valuable
information concerning his routines in his diary. Even though these two men share the same nation,
coastland, and English heritage, their stories are remarkably unique. Filled with death, despair,
difficulties and discomfort, Sewall s diary reflects a dark and

Birth Of Tragedy Patriarchy
It is easy to break the world into binaries. As a culture, Western society has made a point to embrace
binaries and nowhere is this clearer than the binary that is observed with gender. In the most simplistic
way, Western society widely accepts that there are only two genders, male and female. This dichotomy
creates a system of imbalance, giving one gender, male, power over the other. This binary starts an
eternal struggle between the two, with the patriarchy defining what any person is allowed to be.
However, like all binaries, this is an over simplification of a society, and like any simplification, it
breeds room for interpretation. In A History of the World in 10 ½ Chapters, there are many examples
of the Noah narrative. This narrative is twisted by Barnes, with some chapters featuring a woman as
Noah, a role traditionally held by men. By changing the gender, the role is queered, allowing the
audience to examine the influence of the patriarchy on characters who don t inherently belong to the
privileged group. The two female Noahs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Birth of Tragedy, Friedrich Nietzsche writes that in the world there exists a huge contrast. (1)
These contrasts create strict binaries, one of which is the Apollonian, the masculine, and the
Dionysian, the feminine. This dichotomy is in open conflict with each other and simultaneously
provoking each other. This constant provocation within the gender binary allows for hostility and the
evolution of a power dynamic, with one side, the masculine, taking power and forming a patriarchal
society. Within this world of contrasting binaries, Kath and Amanda are stuck within the dichotomy of
masculine and feminine. Though both characters are women, only one is defined by feminine
attributes while the other shows more masculine qualities. However, by them both being women, they
are both oppressed by the

Hedge Fund Vs Mutual Fund Essay
Hedge Fund vs Mutual Fund, Understanding The Differences
Dwayne Strocen
By Dwayne Strocen
Apr 30, 2010
In 1949 Australian Alfred Jones was credited with the term hedge fund . Historically it derives its
name from the use of hedging to manage risk while achieving superior returns. Today, a hedge fund is
an un regulated investment vehicle designated for sophisticated, also known as the Accredited Investor
.
Mutual funds gained popularity in the 1980 s. Prior to this time, the problem of the small investor was
in obtaining sufficient knowledge to make informed investment decisions, and so the average person
avoided stock market investing. Instead money was held in traditional savings accounts or placed with
a bank in a Guaranteed Investment Certificate ( GIC ) or Certificate of Deposit ( CD ).
What to do. The small investor was not able to obtain a professional money manager without $10
million or more to start. But what if he could pool his money with other small investors to reach this
minimum threshold. And so the mutual fund was created to address these exact concerns.
The mutual fund concept was simple, allow the un sophisticated investor access to the strategies of the
professional money manager. This was done by pooling small sums of money, as little as $20.00
deposited monthly. In return, the fund company would use professional money managers using
professional investment strategies to easily out perform traditional bank savings products.
The mutual fund investor

Karen Rowe Fairy Tales Analysis
In the article, Feminism and Fairy Tales, Karen Rowe focuses on the impact that fairy tales have on
relationships and expectations for women today. One may wonder why it is love that is so prominent
in fairy tales, rather than something else. However, Rowe provides the answer in her writing by
saying, ...marriage is an estate long sanctioned by culture and theoretically attainable by all women
(356). Rowe suggests that many women dream of some day meeting their own Prince Charming and
essentially writing their own fairy tale. Where, in order to do so, fairy tales have led them to believe
that there is such thing as a perfect love, that marriage saves a woman from the harsh realities in life,
and that life only truly begins with marriage. Starting at a young age, young girls are inherently
brainwashed by fairy tales. Rowe explains in her article that most all women dream of having a fairy

Often times when a young girl is going through puberty, she is constantly at war and in competition
with her mother in a patriarchal society. Because the men are the most powerful figures in their
society, females are always going at each other with hopes of out doing one another, with hopes of
winning over the men. Rowe explains this by focusing on the idea of evil stepmothers in fairy tales.
So, she finds herself depending on her father for protection, as he is the masculine figure in her life
(350). Once she grows up and begins to mature, she looks to find a man to fill that position. In fairy
tales, the prince is able to protect his princess from all evil, physically and from society. However,
men in real life cannot predict what happens beyond physicality, so therefore they are not able to

Juxtaposition In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood and the Death Penalty Is the killing of certain people morally acceptable? In his novel,
In Cold Blood, Capote makes an argument about the death penalty. In Cold Blood, written by Truman
Capote, is a seemingly objective account of the Clutter murders of Holcomb Kansas. Capote details
both the lives of the Clutters and the lives of the two men involved in their murder. In this novel
Capote argues against the death penalty using devices such as simile, metaphor, juxtaposition, and. In
the first passage of the book, Capote writes about the incident and the resulting deaths. He writes At
the time not a soul in sleeping Holcomb heard them four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human
lives (Capote 5). This is an example of juxtaposition because it shows the contrast of the sleeping
town and the tragedy that was occurring at the same time. Capote uses this juxtaposition, not only to
detail the nature of the crime, but also to make a subtle argument about the case. After finding out that
the Clutters have been murdered, the community is shocked and horrified. They cannot sleep at night

Getulio Vargas Charismatic Leadership
The geographical proximity and history of political ties between Brazil and Argentina lend a hand to
the fruition of ideologically parallel presidential regimes during the 1940s and 1950s. Brazil s
economy found itself in trouble after coffee and agricultural exports, on which much of the economy
depended, sharply declined during the Great Depression. Getulio Vargas, who was the acting president
from 1930 to 1945 and for a second term in 1951 until his death, helped to reform and support the
Brazilian people under a populist regime. In 1954, Vargas committed suicide after a lackluster three

Why Go Tankless
Why Go Tankless? There are two basic types of water heater storage and tankless. They both work as
their names imply. With a storage water heater, the water is kept and heated on site in a tank. The
water in the tank is kept hot continuously by a heater. As you might guess, once the tank is empty it
can take some time for it be full of hot water again. A storage water heater does have some advantages
at first glance, but these are all minor or eradicated over time. For instance they are cheaper to buy and
install but this saving is soon lost due to higher energy costs. That need to always keep and great big

This is the big one. You ll save a lot of money with a tankless water heater. It uses much less energy
and so costs a lot less to run. A tankless water heater will easily pay for itself in savings over time *
Unlimited hot water. In my childhood we had storage hot water and it seems every morning we had
arguments over somebody using all the hot water. Cold showers aren t fun. Long hot showers are. *
Constant water pressure. Storage heaters start out with good pressure but as the tank empties the
pressure can drop. Tankless heaters offer constant pressure. * Less physical space * May qualify for a
tax deduction. Energy conservation is big these days and going tankless may even qualify you for a
tax deduction. While there is effectively no contest in the storage vs. tankless choice, there is a minor
disadvantage with tankless and that is they are a little more expensive to buy and install. But since that
difference is made back many times over the life of the heater, the hip pocket favors tankless. What to

Introducing The Monarchy By 1 Samuel
Introducing the Monarchy
Introduction
1 Samuel presents Israel transformation from theocracy to monarchy as theological and sociopolitical.
Knut Heim mentions, Such transformation could not take place without stresses and conflicts. The
book of Samuel in general, and chaps. 8 15 in particular, reflect the tensions and ambiguities of these
transitional time. The Israel s request of a king is seen desperate and insistence to become like other
nations, due to internal and external crises. Of course, it was an evil thing to ask for because they were
the God s chosen people and God was their divine king. They are supposed to be different than other
nations. Nevertheless, God graciously gives them a king, Saul, who eventually fails but God s eternal
plan of kingship unfolds as he choses a king for himself in David.
Although 1 Samuel narrates the transition from theocracy, the judge, Samuel to a monarchial nation of
Israel, the narrator reminds that Yahweh was already their mighty king and who had also proven
himself trustworthy and also quite capable of calling out charismatic judges to lead the people in times
of emergency after all he is the God. The Israel nation was God s chosen people and under God s care
and divine kingship. In Samuel 7 we see obedience of Israel to God s appointed judge, Samuel, that
favored God s deliverance of Israel from the hands of Philistines. There is no doubt Israel had not seen
and experienced ultimate power of deliverance.

The Superordinate Concept In Writing By Nancy Sommers
A concept is defined as a general idea of something formed by mentally combining all of it s
characteristics. There are many different types of concepts: a superordinate concept which is the most
general, followed by a basic concept, lastly you have the subordinate concept which is considered to
be the most specific. The writing concept I chose to write about is The sources of our lived experience,
when developed in our writing, help us to understand things through difference and opposition,
association and convergence. This concept written by Nancy Sommers, talks about the idea of how
our experiences us help to shape our opinions. Everytime we go through something in our lives
whether big or small, positive or negative it shapes who we are as people and can develop our views.
Everyone goes through life dealing with their own issues and those issues and differences we have
between us to help shape our opinions. Since a person s opinion and experiences are the basis of

If you are asked to write a non academic, such as a personal story, you are using yourself as a source,
as you should be. Especially when you are writing about your own life, you are the main source and
family or friends could also be used as a secondary source. Even when writing an academic essay you
should never leave yourself behind. We take our experiences and use them as sources to defend what
we say in our writing. Without having this capability, everyone would agree on the same thing which
is not always helpful or even interesting. Getting different point of views from everyone can be a good
thing because it gives the opportunity to open up the discussion which then can turn into being very

Comparing Hawaii And Wyoming
Family Vacationing Hawaii and Wyoming are two states often visited because of the variety of
activities they offer. Even though both states appear different, they actually do have similarities.
Hawaii is a tropical island with a moderately warm climate year round. Because of its climate, visitors
generally enjoy outside activities. Wyoming is a landlocked state that usually has cooler climate.
However, in the summer, it can rival Hawaii for heat. In Wyoming people spend a great deal of time
driving around, taking pictures and exploring new bucket list places. Also, activities such as hiking,
wagon riding, and cookouts allow people to be outside during their visit. [Thesis]: Although both

They each have waterfalls that were once dried up from hot climate. Both states have volcanoes and
are made from a volcanic eruption. The Big Island of Hawaii is basically a rock formed by lava.
Yellowstone in Wyoming is a large, rocky grassland formed by an eruption. Surprisingly, Hawaii has
mountains just like Wyoming. The Grand Teton mountains are stunning to look at and have snow on
top of each peak. Hawaii has one main mountain called Mauna Kea which has snow on top of it even
in warm climate. The activities and food are the same in Hawaii and Wyoming. In Hawaii, my family
went to a luau which was like a cookout. Here, they served roasted pig in the ground, sides, and fruit.
The food is not much different than in Alabama. However, some restaurants did serve bison burgers
and different fish than I am used to. In Wyoming, we went to two different cookouts. The first one was
on Snake River and they served steak, potatoes, corn, and rolls. The second cookout on a wagon ride
had the same food as the first one, which is similar to food in Alabama. Some restaurants served lamb,
bison, and tenderloin that my family is not used to. The transportation in Hawaii and Wyoming is the
same. My parents and I had to fly from Atlanta to both states because it is such a great distance. We
had to rent a car on both trips. To get around the Big Island of Hawaii or to see hidden places, driving
a long distance was required. Wyoming took at least thirty minutes to get from one place to

I Am Working With Other Parts Of The Project
One of the lessons that I have learned through my 4+ years of work experience as an EIT is that a
good Engineer must always be aware of the real life system limitations of any project he/she is
involved with. With experience, not only are you able to keep aware of these limitations, but you can
also prepare for them. As Engineers, when we set out to design a product or system, we are working in
a theoretical world with no limitations or constraints. However, out in the real world, there are
numerous constraints and limitations that come into play when we are forced to integrate our design
into a functioning tool. Many times, on large projects, I m working with different groups and
subcontractors. When I release an engineering drawing, I have to understand that it must cooperate
well with other parts of the project. This takes a lot of coordination with different disciplines, and at
times poses limitations on your design that would otherwise not be present. In my experience, I had to
modify my design many times to better suit the overall structure and project requirements. In other
cases, constraints could be brought upon through legal and/or cosmetic means. For example, I have
been involved in projects where I would draft a design which boasts a solid engineering background.
However, for any number of reasons, the client might not necessarily like something and thus the
design must be re suited to that constraint. However, I have also learned to be mindful in this area. If

based on the social network Facebook that has gained marked popularity since its creation in the early
2000 s and depicts the ongoing drama that ensued at the time. The movie has been found to be
inspirational and informative as it attempts to depict the actual lives of the youngsters who faced
lawsuits, betrayal, various challenges in adoption of ideas as well as new technological advances. To

The Debate Over The Internet
The Internet in the year 2009. We send e mails, make calls over the internet and discuss topics we take
an interest in. Even our banking is going virtual. But what we take for granted today was only a vague
idea fifty years ago. In order to understand how we got this far Let s go back to 1957, when everything
began. Before 1957 computers only worked on one task at a time. This is called batch processing. Of
course, this was quite ineffective. With computers getting bigger and bigger they had to be stored in
special cooled rooms. But then the developers couldn t work directly on the computers anymore
specialists had to be called in to connect them. Programming at that time meant a lot of manual work
and the indirect connection to the computers led to a lot of bugs, wasting time and fraying the
developers´ nerves. The year 1957 marked a big change. A remote connection had to be installed so
the developers could work directly on the computers. At the same time the idea of time sharing came
up. This is the first concept in computer technology to share the processing power of one computer
with multiple users. On October 4th 1957, during the Cold War The first unmanned satellite, Sputnik
1, was sent into orbit by the Soviet Union. The fear of a Missile Gap emerged. In order to secure
America s lead in technology, the US founded the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency in
February 1958. At that time, knowledge was only transferred by people. The DARPA planned a

Jim Crow Racism
This essay will argue that white people were violently racist towards African Americans in the south
because the threat of them succeeding economically, educationally, and socially created competition
for things that whites felt they were entitled to. Jim Crow laws were created as a way to control the
success of African Americans and prevent them from reaching their full potential in society. Evidence
of their actions proves this in the laws they made, the ways they treated them, and the words said
about them. Whites felt entitled to these things because they viewed themselves as supreme .
The threat of African Americans succeeding economically motivated white southerners to act out. For
three centuries, African Americans did all of the hard work for white farmers, so they were ahead of
the farming game. They had outstanding knowledge of how to grow crops and the best way to do it.
Whites felt entitled to being superior, so they wanted to eliminate competition for successful farmers.
In Burke County, Georgia, an African American farmer reported that his acreage of land was reduced
by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) committee so that his white
neighbor could acquire more land. These acts of blatant racism were nearly impossible to fight back
on, because whites had such a tight grip on what African Americans could do. Laws were made that
told African Americans what they could do, and most importantly, what they could not do.

The House Is Spacious And Immaculate

house transforms. Everything grows larger and begins to resemble a house. The dirt walls turn into
stone and there are immense windows with violet drapes. The furniture transfigures from home made,

Oh, be quiet Peter. I counter.
So I guess you can imagine what happened next. Mary went back to Bell and got me magic. But, still,
I wasn t satisfied. I continued to become greedy. I just could not quench my desire for more. After
living in the improved house, I became a bit bored. One day I thought that we should have pixie dust
so that we could fly around Neverland. And to my surprise, pixie dust does make you fly. With my
new abilities, I was able to give Mary and Peter whatever they wanted. Yet, Peter ran away about two
days ago. He said something about getting away from my greed. I shared with him, so I didn t quite
understand but I don t really care where he is. If he decided to leave, then that is his problem. Our
lives were happy and perfect. But it didn t last for long.
Later that week, I am sitting in my glamorous room, eating berries. What once was a small and dingy
living area is now filled with a large bed and golden furniture. There is a wardrobe filled with my
favorite clothing. Anything that I could ever fathom wanting, is present. As I sit here, a sudden thought
comes to me. If I can have everything that I want, why not become royalty? I heard somewhere over
the multiple years I ve spent in Neverland that the island used to have a monarchy. There were many

Taking a Look at Natioanl Parks
A national park is an area set aside by a nation s government to protect natural beauty, wildlife, or
other remarkable features. Some national parks protect entire environments like coral reefs, deserts,
grasslands, mountain ranges, or rain forests. Today about 1,500 national parks protect about 1.5
million square miles. Theodore Roosevelt had a huge impact on the national parks we know today.
The three I found most interesting include The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Sequoia
National Park, and the Everglades National Park.
Theodore Teddy Roosevelt had a huge impact on the national park system that extended well beyond
his term in office. Teddy Roosevelt first came to the Badlands in September 1883. Big game hunting
had initially brought him to the west, as he spent more time in this area, he became more and more
alarmed by the damage that was being done to the land and the wildlife. After this, conservation
became one of Roosevelt s main concerns. After he became president in 1901, Roosevelt used his
authority to protect wildlife and public lands by creating the U.S. Forest Service. He also established
fifty one federal bird reservations, four national game services, one hundred and fifty national forests,
five national parks and created the Antiquities Act which he used to officially declare eighteen
national monuments. Roosevelt has been called many times our country s Conservation President He
is remembered with a National Park that bears

Some things which will trigger the symptoms of Text Neck are the continuous forward flexing that

Fynbos and forest biomes are the main contributors to vegetation diversity in the Garden Route.
Indigenous forests in the Garden Route cover 35 765.4 ha. The biome of the Garden Route contains
69% of South Africa s sub continent plant species. Approximately 30% of the Garden Route is
covered in fynbos. Mountain and lowland fynbos have been converted into pine plantations, having

Summary
There are short term and long term plans for clearing alien invasive plants. When seed banks of AIP s
are present, the restoration potential is low and the impact on the environment is high. The Garden
Route s fynbos biome is most affected by the AIP s.
Ground should be 60% free of slash, which stimulates germination, in order to control AIP s. In order
to achieve initial restoration goals, alien weeds should be cleared and bear ground should be exposed
followed by a controlled fire through the area as heat and smoke germinates cues required by fynbos
species. Steep slopes and plant species may influence the restoration potential. Controlled fires
prevent local fynbos specie loss. No fire or too frequent fires reduce restoration potential. Initial
clearance of sites includes burning, tilling and pitting, and within rotation management, it includes
ground vegetation clearance, fertilizing, thinning, harvesting and unplanned fires. Variables that
affects the AIP s reduction potential includes annual rainfall (mm), average altitude (m), slope,
geology, soil texture and type, pre plantation vegetation type, alien invasive species present and its
density, erosion and pollution

Hair Dying
As people look around the different cities of our fair country, one might notice that many people
nowadays are coloring their hair to cover grey or just for the fun of it. One difference among the
younger generation and the older generation is the colors that are chosen for their hair. The younger
generation of this day and age seem to prefer wild colors such as Infra Red, Mystic Heather, Deadly
Nightshade, Tiger Lily, etc, as self expression compared to the older generation choosing natural
shades to cover the signs of aging. This can be seen in the rising number of young people that are seen

wild hair color business so as to keep up with the current competition. Companies such as BWild, Hot
Head, and even Jerome Russell are participating in the trend of wild hair color to accommodate both
the younger and the older population.
On the other hand, classic companies such as Clairol, Dark Lovely and L Oreal still offer the majority
of the natural hair colors that one can buy in a store such as Wal Mart. These companies can have a
productive future as long as they are able to keep up with all other forms of competition. As to my
current knowledge, none of these companies offer outrageous colors such as Pillarbox Red, or

natural hair colors. People still like to color their hair so it looks like the color they used to have or a
lighter or darker shade of the color they presently have. The largest group to purchase hair color
products in the older generation is women. They might do this because they see grey coming in or are
trying a new look out.

The Geography Of Chicken Soup
The focus of this assignment is on the geography of chicken soup. For purposes of this particular
assignment, the claimed country of origin in Cuba. The reason the term claimed is used is due to the
fact that this particular dish may be believed to have originated in many other countries as well. As
such, the recipe, and more specifically the ingredients used, will most likely differ based upon the
country and region that it is originated from. With regard to the Cuban version of chicken soup, the
same is comprised of thirteen (13) ingredients, to wit: olive (oil); onion (red and green); cilantro;
cumin (ground); wheat (flour); chicken (stock and thigh); cassava; calabash; potato (red); plantain;
lemon (juice); salt; and, pepper. Notwithstanding the fact that these ingredients are customarily used to
make the Cuban version of chicken soup, these same ingredients were not all domesticated in the
region that Cuba is located in. For example, Cuba is located in the Caribbean region. Out of the
thirteen (13) ingredients mentioned, only one ingredient is native to said region calabash.
Furthermore, as the case with other Caribbean countries, calabash is said to be native and common in
the wild in Cuba, Puerto Rico, [and] the Dominican Republic.... (Morton, 1987, p. 334 335). As such,

it s the same thing, just put in different words/different characters. In the end of course Hitler and
Yertle s plans fail. Another example is in the book The Lorax plays a role from Theodor s perspective
of environmentalism. This book is trying to make known that us humans today are destroying
wildlife/nature. We should be more aware of how we treat the earth. For example, throwing our
garbage in trash cans instead of in the ocean or on the street. Theodor got his inspiration mostly from
everyday life when he was a boy. After he became known as the pseudonym Dr. Seuss , his childhood
continued to motivate his fantastical landscapes, and exotic creatures. Why write about Never Never
Lands that you ve never seen when all around you have a real Never Never Land that you know about
and understand, Seuss said of his hometown. (bostonglobe.com) For instance, one of the poems
Theodor Geisel wrote was, Horton Hears A Who! . This poem is about an elephant; horton, trying to
find his friends on a speck of dust located on a flower. The speaker; Horton, is speaking to everyone
around, including the readers. This scene takes place in a field of flowers. Horton is trying to vocalize
that you should always look out for people no matter how small or unimportant they seem. A person is
a person, no matter how small . Dr. seuss s Horton

Blood Pressure Measurement Is A Most Common Test Performed...
Blood pressure measurement is a most common test performed for diagnosis. This paper presents a
digital blood pressure measurement device which possesses a non invasive measurement of blood
pressure without the help of a well trained physician. The proposed device measures systolic and
diastolic pressure based on Oscillometric method which eliminates the need of stethoscope. The
pressure into the cuff is converted to electrical signal using a pressure transducer. The systolic and
diastolic pressure from the output oscillation of the pressure sensor is detected using microcontroller.
This device facilitates with portability and diagnosis of hypertension at patient s home. Keywords
Blood pressure, Oscillometric method, pressure transducer, cuff, Systolic pressure, Diastolic pressure.
I. INTRODUCTION Hypertension is a leading cause of death in developing countries [1].
Hypertension can accelerate vascular weakness, making blood vessels more prone to rupture.
Untreated hypertension can cause heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, eye disease and many more
which eventually leads to economic burden in developing countries [1] [3]. In developing countries
with large population due to less healthy life style, the number of patient affected by hypertension is
growing [4]. So, for a developing country like Bangladesh where the number of patient affected by
hypertension is large, Blood pressure machine needs to be inexpensive and user friendly. The heart

Fitzgerald Vs Seamans Case
It was late 1968 when Fitzgerald, a management analyst for the U.S. Air force, testified, in a
congressional hearing about military spending about the exceedingly high cost in a particular transport
plane development. President Lyndon Johnson was on his way out and President Richard Nixon would
soon be sworn in. After Richard Nixon became president he took the normal steps of a new president
entering the presidency he downsized and reconstructed many government agencies including the
department of the Air Force. During Nixon s downsizing Fitzgerald was let go due to his position
being terminated. Fitzgerald believed that his firing was retaliatory in nature because of his previous
testimony. Fitzgerald fought this for years to know avail in the Fitzgerald V Seamans cases, until the
publication of a white memorandum that Fitzgerald should, bleed for a while before receiving another
position because his lack loyalty to the federal government was in question. This trial was heard by
the Civil Service Commission, Federal District Court, known as Harlow v. Fitzgerald 1978, which
stated that Nixon was not entitled to absolute immunity. Nixon took the case to the Court of Appeals,
which dismissed Nixon s appeal. In 1981 Nixon took the case to the Supreme Court to appeal his

An Overview of Capital Punishment Essay
An Overview of Capital Punishment
Introduction
Capital punishment is punishment by death for committing a crime. Since
the early 1800 s most executions have resulted from convictions for murder. The
death penalty has also been imposed for such serious crimes as armed robbery,
kidnapping, rape, and treason. There is much disagreement about
whether or not capital punishment is effective in discouraging crime.
In the early 1990 s, 36 states of the United States had laws that permitted
the death penalty. These laws were greatly influenced by a 1972 decision of the
Supreme Court of the United States which had banned the death penalty as it was
then imposed, describing the carrying out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the more vicious methods were stoning, impaling,
boiling in oil, burned alive, and being stretched on the rack.
One of the most notorious ways of executions was being beheaded by a
guillotine. This machine, invented by Joseph Ignace Guillotin (1738 1814),
became the official instrument of execution in France during the French
Revolution. It dropped a huge knife that cut off the victim s head. It was
regarded as quick and merciful. The guillotine was used until 1981, when
capital punishment was abolished in France.
The death penalty was a popular method of punishment in England.
Imprisonment was hardly ever used. In the 15th century there were eight capital
crimes: treason , petty treason, murder, larceny, robbery, burglary, rape, and
arson. Other crimes were soon added to the list, so that by the year 1780 there
were 350.
Executions were common enough to require gallows in every district of
London. Bodies were sometimes left hanging as a warning to other would be
criminals. If the hangman were so inclined, he might give the convicted brandy
to dull his senses or pull on his legs so he would die quicker.
It was estimated that between the years 1805 and 1810, 3,000 death
sentences were handed out. At this time, however, the laws were not strictly
enforced. A large number of criminals were never executed because of royal
pardon or the benefit of

Inside The Mecca By Gwendolyn Brooks
Inside the Mecca
The Story of Gwendolyn Brooks
All minds are complex. They are made differently. The way we feel, act and even the way that we
write. I feel that my mind is different from others. Everybody has their way of expressing themselves
their own way. My way is writing. It gave me an escape, a way out, and later I found that it gave a
voice to others. I never wanted to die without doing something important and now I realize that I
haven t. People say the story of my life was complicated, but I prefer to call it eventful.
I was born on June 7th, 1917 in Topeka, Kansas to my beautiful and supportive parents Keziah and
David. David, my father, was the first person in his family to graduate high school. He studied a year

My many works amazed people and my works even amazed me, but I was never more proud of any of
my works more than A Street in Bronzeville. A Street in Bronzeville was my first book and it brought
me national attention. Though A Street in Bronzeville brought me much attention, it didn t bring me
more than my next work: Annie Allen. Annie Allen was my second book of poems about African
American life in Chicago. When I sent it to my publisher they sent it to a poet. The poet wrote back
telling me to change all of my work. That felt like a bullet in my back. I was certain of my poems and
the way that they reflected real African American life. Later, I declined to change anything and I sent
it out to be published. Annie Allen quickly gained national attention as well and in 1950 it won the
Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. This sent me into a long period of happiness and confidence. I was the first
African American woman to ever win the Pulitzer Prize and that is the best feeling in the world. It
proved that African Americans were capable of achieving in this prejudice world. It proved that there

Persuasive Essay On Heroin
In 2002, 404,000 people used heroin in the United States. By 2016, there were 948,000 people. This is
a 135% increases in the past 14 years (Kounang). I decided to research about heroin, because I want to
know what heroin is and which celebrities have done it and survived or died. I knew it was an
addictive drug that many people overdose on. There was a lot of misconceptions that I had about
heroin. Originally I thought heroin users become addicted instantly. I still have some questions about
heroin. Why is heroin so popular? Who has done it? Even though some people think heroin is not bad,
people should not take heroin because it s a highly effective drug and tons of people are dying from
overdosing.
Heroin is a white or brown powder. Sometimes it s a black paste that s known as black tar heroin.
Heroin is wicked by many other drugs, sugar, flour and milk. It may have a vinegar smell to it. People
who do heroin usually snort or smoke it. There is also an option to inject the drug into your body. It
costs $70 to $300 a gram. In the brain, heroin is converted into morphine, which binds to opioid
receptors. This causes a pleasurable rush, and a user s skin becomes warm and flushed. The user s
arms and legs may feel heavy. Some users experience severe itching and vomiting. After the rush, a
user s heart rate and breathing slow down, sometimes to the point of death. Heroin is considered
highly addictive. Euphoria occurs within seconds of an intravenous injection, five

Dna Replication Research Paper
DNA replication, or DNA synthesis, is the process in which makes a copy of itself prior to cell
division. Every cell needs a copy of genetic material. The cell needs an entire copy of the DNA
molecule, so for humans that means 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs. Even though a cell needs an entire
copy of the DNA, it only uses a portion of it. There are three major steps to DNA synthesis: binding of
the enzyme to the DNA, unwinding and unzipping of the DNA, and synthesis of new complementary
strand. In the first major step of DNA replication enzymes bind to specific areas of DNA called
replication origins. In eukaryotes, like us, there are numerous binding sites that start at the same time
because DNA molecules are so large that it would take too long to start at one end and go to the other.
However, in prokaryotes there is only one single, circular DNA molecule so there is only one
replication origin. The replication in these cells begins at one point and goes in both directions until
the whole circular chromosome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DNA is wound in a double helix structure because of an attraction of charges. Helicase breaks the
hydrogen bonds that hold the base pairs, adenine and thymine, guanine and cytosine, together. The
separation of the two single strands of DNA forms a Y shape, known as a replication fork. These two
separated strands act as a guide for the new strands to form. The final major step in DNA replication is
synthesizing the new DNA strands. DNA polymerase is an enzyme that creates DNA molecules. This
happens by assembling nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA. The DNA polymerase
reads the new DNA base and brings in the matching nucleotide. This process of reading the base and
bringing in the complementary nucleotide continues until the next replication origin is reached. These
enzymes are essential to DNA

Selfie Research Paper
But First, Let Me Take a Selfie A lot of people from the average citizen to Barack Obama, the
President of the United States, take selfies. A selfie is basically a picture of yourself, a self portrait that
is usually shared on any social networking site. By just switching to front camera with just a tap,
anyone is able to take a selfie. It is a popular trend and is a part of our modern day culture that a lot of
us engage without a second thought, as if it is as much as who we are or as the clothes that we wear.
Selfies seems to have made its way into the social norms. Young children and teens take them
obsessively, adults seems to join in on the fun, and celebrities make the trend even more popular. What
gives people the motivation to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Selfies has even been taken outside of Earth, since even astronauts are taking selfies in space. The
selfie isn t the newest thing, it has been around since photography and self portraits started. But in the
past few years, it has been become increasingly popular, because of the rising of smartphones and
other social media sites. Since celebrities and other famous or popular people take selfies, it seems
rather difficult for most people not to join in on the selfie train. A lot of people are so obsessed on
what celebrities are doing, as if they are their idol. It s like if a celebrity does this, the majority of
people will try to copy her. Many people view celebrities as one of their biggest role models.
Celebrities can have a huge influence on society. Most of the time, they are the ones who starts or
even makes the trend more popular, typically because of their social status or class with society. Let s
say that Beyoncé, an R B singer, takes a selfie in a unique pose and post it on Instagram or Twitter. All
of her fans that adore her are going to see it and like it, expressing that it s beautiful and a cool way to
take a selfie. Since the fans love Beyoncé, most of them are going to attempt to copy the way she
takes the selfie. This indicates that most of the people in the society that we live in follow what most
celebrities does, whether it s good or bad. Celebrities seems to be one of the key

Elevated NLR, is a strong predictor of stable coronary artery disease (CAD), its development,
progression and mortality.52,53,54,55 The predictive superiority of NLR may be due to the fact that
NLR is a ratio integrating the deleterious effects of Ns, which are responsible for innate immunity and
lymphopenia, which is a marker of poor general condition.56 Coronary artery anatomy: Left Main
Coronary Artery The left main coronary artery (LMCA) arises from the left aortic coronary sinus
ranging in diameter from 3 to 6 mm and up to 10 to 15 mm length. It courses behind the right
ventricular outflow tract and usually bifurcates into the left anterior descending artery (LAD) and left
circumflex (LCx) branches. Rarely, the LMCA artery is absent, and the LAD and LCx arteries arises
from separate ostia. In some patients, the LMCA trifurcates into the LAD, LCx and the ramus
intermedius which arises between the LAD and the LCx arteries. Left Anterior Descending Artery The
left anterior descending (LAD) artery passes along the surface of interventricular groove anteriorly
toward the cardiac apex. It gives several septal perforators and diagonal branches. Most patients have
one to three diagonal branches. In most patients the LAD rounds along the left ventricular apex and
ends at the diaphragmatic surface of the left ventricle.

Leadership Is An Integral Part Of Society Essay
Leadership is an integral part of society, without leadership there would be chaos. Leadership calls for
action in terms of guidance, decision making, structure and control, these qualities are necessary and
evident within organizations. After World War I organizations were finding it difficult to organize and
operate efficiently. It was in this period Frederick Taylor s Scientific Management framework took
precedence in organizations. Taylor introduced a systematic, strategic and scientific method to aid
organizations in recovering from the effects of the war, moving towards high levels of productivity,
efficacy and efficiency.
Taylor s principles highlighted the need for division of responsibility, a systematic and strategic way
of choosing and training employees for specific roles, breaking down jobs into smaller tasks and
extending to management the responsibility of setting objectives for the organization. Following
Taylor was French industrialist, Henri Fayol who contributed the administrative structure of planning,
coordinating, commanding, controlling and organizing. Within this defining period of the Industrial
Revolution, management theories, literature contributions, and scientific inquiry began to advance.
Various schools of thought became prominent in Europe, which trickled down to the West. The move
for an industrialized world was taking form, creating structure, rules, and procedures to ensure
continuity in these industries. Max Weber, a German sociologist

  • 2. Les Miserables Metaphors Victor Hugo fills his pages of Les Miserables with dramatic, yet quirky, characters who each have their own complex separate lives but are all connected in one way or another. The author s metaphors most commonly include a character s comparison to an animal which aids the reader in understanding the intensity of the character s traits. Hugo uses many metaphors to draw out the complex and unique personalities of his characters with Jean Valjean being described as an owl, Thenardier as a boa constrictor, and Javert as a tiger as well as a silent hound. To establish Jean Valjean s nocturnal and wise attributes, Victor Hugo commonly compares Jean Valjean to an owl. Hugo begins this comparison with his chapter titled A Nest for Owl and Wren and continues the comparison with Like birds of prey, he had chosen this lonely place to make his nest (Hugo 121). The title connects Cosette to the wren and Jean Valjean to the owl which then applies to the quote by saying Jean Valjean has the wiseness of an owl when finding a home. Jean Valjean is in need of a secluded place being that he is an escaped convict, and he made the wise choice of living in a home that seemed abandoned. Being an escaped convict, Jean Valjean was prudent enough never to go out in the daytime. Every evening, however, about twilight, he would walk for an hour or two... (Hugo 125). ... This paper will begin by looking at multinational corporations. Next, the paper will analyze the strengthens and weakness on multinational corporations and its affect on workers. Lastly, the paper will give a personal evaluation on whether the author (s) are convincing or if they are missing certain information. Multinational corporations occupy a prominent role in the global economy. In the beginning, they emerged as significant and enduring components in the international economy in the nineteenth century. Great Britain was considered one of the largest capital exporting country during that century. By the year 2008, the number of these corporations was eleven times the number in operation in the early 1980s. Ultimately, the number of MNCs continue to grow within the world s economy. The decision that these firms make are based on global strategies for corporate success. • 4. How Did The Beatles Become So Popular The appeal of the Beatles in 1964 could be attributed to many different things. One important reason was that their style of music was like nothing else people would have heard on the radio. A lot of the music on the radio was either pop or blues. The Beatles were heavily inspired by American pop and blues acts such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. They combined aspects of both genres to make very radio friendly music that was still unique to the American public. Their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show along with a largely promoted tour of the United States also helped launch them into superstardom in America. The Beatles were heavily promoted to be the biggest band in the world, and it was extremely successful. They performed dozens of concerts all over the United States, each of which was attended by thousands of screaming fans who were so loud that the music was barely audible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are by far the most popular band of all time. Everybody knows who they are, and everyone in the near future will too. The Beatles have inspired generations of children to buy instruments and start a band. They also have influenced hundreds of musical acts, such as The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, U2, The Beach Boys, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and countless other acts. The Beatles also were responsible for bringing more popularity to psychedelic and experimental music. Nothing that The Beatles wrote was new or groundbreaking, but they exposed millions of people to music that otherwise would have never been heard. The Beatles, along with The Beach Boys, were the first acts to have psychedelic songs that were high charting. If they weren t performed by The Beatles, I highly doubt songs like A Day in the Life , Tommorrow Never Knows , and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds would get even a fraction of the popularity that they ... • 5. Drafting the Constitution Essay By the late eighteenth century, America found itself independent from England; which was a welcomed change, but also brought with it, its own set of challenges. The newly formed National Government was acting under the Articles of Confederation, which established a firm league of friendship between the states, but did not give adequate power to run the country. To ensure the young nation could continue independently, Congress called for a Federal Convention to convene in Philadelphia to address the deficiencies in the Articles of Confederation. While the Congress only authorized the convention to revise and amend the Articles the delegates quickly set out to develop a whole new Constitution for the country. Unlike the Articles of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the first debates over the institution of the National Executive was whether the Executive should consist of a single person as motioned by James Wilson, of Pennsylvania, and seconded by Charles Pinckney, of South Carolina. The idea of a single Executive met with strong opposition due to conjuring images of their former oppression under British rule. Due to the fact that all delegates were old enough to remember, many of them to have fought against, the rule by Britain, it was easy for them to compare what they were trying to create to what they already knew and in some cases detested. To defend against the Executive morphing into a monarchy there was a suggestion of a three person Executive branch that was put forward by Randolph who felt the people would not properly support a signal Executive. The idea of a three person branch would give a representative from the Northern, Middle, and Southern States. Pierce Butler of South Carolina, having seen firsthand in Holland the issues caused by plurality, strongly objected. As happened many times during the convention the motion was postponed. James Madison made the suggestion that the powers of the president devised before there be a decision of single or plural Executive stating, definition of their extent would assist the judgment in determining how far they might safely entrusted to a single officer. • 9. Birth Of Tragedy Patriarchy It is easy to break the world into binaries. As a culture, Western society has made a point to embrace binaries and nowhere is this clearer than the binary that is observed with gender. In the most simplistic way, Western society widely accepts that there are only two genders, male and female. This dichotomy creates a system of imbalance, giving one gender, male, power over the other. This binary starts an eternal struggle between the two, with the patriarchy defining what any person is allowed to be. However, like all binaries, this is an over simplification of a society, and like any simplification, it breeds room for interpretation. In A History of the World in 10 ½ Chapters, there are many examples of the Noah narrative. This narrative is twisted by Barnes, with some chapters featuring a woman as Noah, a role traditionally held by men. By changing the gender, the role is queered, allowing the audience to examine the influence of the patriarchy on characters who don t inherently belong to the privileged group. The two female Noahs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Birth of Tragedy, Friedrich Nietzsche writes that in the world there exists a huge contrast. (1) These contrasts create strict binaries, one of which is the Apollonian, the masculine, and the Dionysian, the feminine. This dichotomy is in open conflict with each other and simultaneously provoking each other. This constant provocation within the gender binary allows for hostility and the evolution of a power dynamic, with one side, the masculine, taking power and forming a patriarchal society. Within this world of contrasting binaries, Kath and Amanda are stuck within the dichotomy of masculine and feminine. Though both characters are women, only one is defined by feminine attributes while the other shows more masculine qualities. However, by them both being women, they are both oppressed by the ... Historically it derives its name from the use of hedging to manage risk while achieving superior returns. Today, a hedge fund is an un regulated investment vehicle designated for sophisticated, also known as the Accredited Investor . Mutual funds gained popularity in the 1980 s. Prior to this time, the problem of the small investor was in obtaining sufficient knowledge to make informed investment decisions, and so the average person avoided stock market investing. Instead money was held in traditional savings accounts or placed with a bank in a Guaranteed Investment Certificate ( GIC ) or Certificate of Deposit ( CD ). What to do. The small investor was not able to obtain a professional money manager without $10 million or more to start. But what if he could pool his money with other small investors to reach this minimum threshold. And so the mutual fund was created to address these exact concerns. The mutual fund concept was simple, allow the un sophisticated investor access to the strategies of the professional money manager. This was done by pooling small sums of money, as little as $20.00 deposited monthly. In return, the fund company would use professional money managers using professional investment strategies to easily out perform traditional bank savings products. The mutual fund investor ... • 14. Karen Rowe Fairy Tales Analysis In the article, Feminism and Fairy Tales, Karen Rowe focuses on the impact that fairy tales have on relationships and expectations for women today. One may wonder why it is love that is so prominent in fairy tales, rather than something else. However, Rowe provides the answer in her writing by saying, ...marriage is an estate long sanctioned by culture and theoretically attainable by all women (356). Rowe suggests that many women dream of some day meeting their own Prince Charming and essentially writing their own fairy tale. Where, in order to do so, fairy tales have led them to believe that there is such thing as a perfect love, that marriage saves a woman from the harsh realities in life, and that life only truly begins with marriage. Starting at a young age, young girls are inherently brainwashed by fairy tales. Rowe explains this by focusing on the idea of evil stepmothers in fairy tales. So, she finds herself depending on her father for protection, as he is the masculine figure in her life (350). Once she grows up and begins to mature, she looks to find a man to fill that position. In fairy tales, the prince is able to protect his princess from all evil, physically and from society. In his novel, In Cold Blood, Capote makes an argument about the death penalty. In Cold Blood, written by Truman Capote, is a seemingly objective account of the Clutter murders of Holcomb Kansas. Capote details both the lives of the Clutters and the lives of the two men involved in their murder. In this novel Capote argues against the death penalty using devices such as simile, metaphor, juxtaposition, and. In the first passage of the book, Capote writes about the incident and the resulting deaths. He writes At the time not a soul in sleeping Holcomb heard them four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human lives (Capote 5). This is an example of juxtaposition because it shows the contrast of the sleeping town and the tragedy that was occurring at the same time. • 19. Why Go Tankless Why Go Tankless? There are two basic types of water heater storage and tankless. They both work as their names imply. With a storage water heater, the water is kept and heated on site in a tank. The water in the tank is kept hot continuously by a heater. As you might guess, once the tank is empty it can take some time for it be full of hot water again. A storage water heater does have some advantages at first glance, but these are all minor or eradicated over time. For instance they are cheaper to buy and install but this saving is soon lost due to higher energy costs. That need to always keep and great big tank of water hot is very wasteful and expensive. Storage heaters have a strong flow of hot water until the tank goes dry, and most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the big one. You ll save a lot of money with a tankless water heater. It uses much less energy and so costs a lot less to run. A tankless water heater will easily pay for itself in savings over time * Unlimited hot water. In my childhood we had storage hot water and it seems every morning we had arguments over somebody using all the hot water. Cold showers aren t fun. Long hot showers are. * Constant water pressure. Storage heaters start out with good pressure but as the tank empties the pressure can drop. Tankless heaters offer constant pressure. * Less physical space * May qualify for a tax deduction. Energy conservation is big these days and going tankless may even qualify you for a tax deduction. While there is effectively no contest in the storage vs. tankless choice, there is a minor disadvantage with tankless and that is they are a little more expensive to buy and install. But since that difference is made back many times over the life of the heater, the hip pocket favors tankless. What to Look For in a Tankless Water Heater: Fuel Type There are two types here, gas and electricity. The key factor is how your home is already configured for both, and so how much modification your home will need to accomodate the heater. Size and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Introducing The Monarchy By 1 Samuel Introducing the Monarchy Introduction 1 Samuel presents Israel transformation from theocracy to monarchy as theological and sociopolitical. Knut Heim mentions, Such transformation could not take place without stresses and conflicts. The book of Samuel in general, and chaps. 8 15 in particular, reflect the tensions and ambiguities of these transitional time. The Israel s request of a king is seen desperate and insistence to become like other nations, due to internal and external crises. Of course, it was an evil thing to ask for because they were the God s chosen people and God was their divine king. They are supposed to be different than other nations. Nevertheless, God graciously gives them a king, Saul, who eventually fails but God s eternal plan of kingship unfolds as he choses a king for himself in David. Although 1 Samuel narrates the transition from theocracy, the judge, Samuel to a monarchial nation of Israel, the narrator reminds that Yahweh was already their mighty king and who had also proven himself trustworthy and also quite capable of calling out charismatic judges to lead the people in times of emergency after all he is the God. The Israel nation was God s chosen people and under God s care and divine kingship. In Samuel 7 we see obedience of Israel to God s appointed judge, Samuel, that favored God s deliverance of Israel from the hands of Philistines. There is no doubt Israel had not seen and experienced ultimate power of deliverance. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. The Superordinate Concept In Writing By Nancy Sommers A concept is defined as a general idea of something formed by mentally combining all of it s characteristics. There are many different types of concepts: a superordinate concept which is the most general, followed by a basic concept, lastly you have the subordinate concept which is considered to be the most specific. The writing concept I chose to write about is The sources of our lived experience, when developed in our writing, help us to understand things through difference and opposition, association and convergence. This concept written by Nancy Sommers, talks about the idea of how our experiences us help to shape our opinions. Everytime we go through something in our lives whether big or small, positive or negative it shapes who we are as people and can develop our views. Everyone goes through life dealing with their own issues and those issues and differences we have between us to help shape our opinions. Since a person s opinion and experiences are the basis of writing, this concept is extremely important. Not only is it just our prior experiences that impact who we are as writers but our sense of self, language practices (also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though both states appear different, they actually do have similarities. Hawaii is a tropical island with a moderately warm climate year round. Because of its climate, visitors generally enjoy outside activities. Wyoming is a landlocked state that usually has cooler climate. However, in the summer, it can rival Hawaii for heat. In Wyoming people spend a great deal of time driving around, taking pictures and exploring new bucket list places. Also, activities such as hiking, wagon riding, and cookouts allow people to be outside during their visit. [Thesis]: Although both Hawaii and Wyoming have similarities such as amazing ... The Grand Teton mountains are stunning to look at and have snow on top of each peak. Hawaii has one main mountain called Mauna Kea which has snow on top of it even in warm climate. The activities and food are the same in Hawaii and Wyoming. In Hawaii, my family went to a luau which was like a cookout. Here, they served roasted pig in the ground, sides, and fruit. I Am Working With Other Parts Of The Project One of the lessons that I have learned through my 4+ years of work experience as an EIT is that a good Engineer must always be aware of the real life system limitations of any project he/she is involved with. With experience, not only are you able to keep aware of these limitations, but you can also prepare for them. As Engineers, when we set out to design a product or system, we are working in a theoretical world with no limitations or constraints. However, out in the real world, there are numerous constraints and limitations that come into play when we are forced to integrate our design into a functioning tool. Many times, on large projects, I m working with different groups and subcontractors. When I release an engineering drawing, I have to understand that it must cooperate well with other parts of the project. This takes a lot of coordination with different disciplines, and at times poses limitations on your design that would otherwise not be present. In my experience, I had to modify my design many times to better suit the overall structure and project requirements. In other cases, constraints could be brought upon through legal and/or cosmetic means. For example, I have been involved in projects where I would draft a design which boasts a solid engineering background. However, for any number of reasons, the client might not necessarily like something and thus the design must be re suited to that constraint. However, I have also learned to be mindful in this area. But what we take for granted today was only a vague idea fifty years ago. In order to understand how we got this far Let s go back to 1957, when everything began. Before 1957 computers only worked on one task at a time. This is called batch processing. Of course, this was quite ineffective. With computers getting bigger and bigger they had to be stored in special cooled rooms. But then the developers couldn t work directly on the computers anymore specialists had to be called in to connect them. Programming at that time meant a lot of manual work and the indirect connection to the computers led to a lot of bugs, wasting time and fraying the developers´ nerves. The year 1957 marked a big change. A remote connection had to be installed so the developers could work directly on the computers. At the same time the idea of time sharing came up. This is the first concept in computer technology to share the processing power of one computer with multiple users. On October 4th 1957, during the Cold War The first unmanned satellite, Sputnik 1, was sent into orbit by the Soviet Union. The fear of a Missile Gap emerged. In order to secure America s lead in technology, the US founded the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency in February 1958. At that time, knowledge was only transferred by people. • 30. Jim Crow Racism This essay will argue that white people were violently racist towards African Americans in the south because the threat of them succeeding economically, educationally, and socially created competition for things that whites felt they were entitled to. Jim Crow laws were created as a way to control the success of African Americans and prevent them from reaching their full potential in society. Evidence of their actions proves this in the laws they made, the ways they treated them, and the words said about them. Whites felt entitled to these things because they viewed themselves as supreme . The threat of African Americans succeeding economically motivated white southerners to act out. For three centuries, African Americans did all of the hard work for white farmers, so they were ahead of the farming game. They had outstanding knowledge of how to grow crops and the best way to do it. Whites felt entitled to being superior, so they wanted to eliminate competition for successful farmers. In Burke County, Georgia, an African American farmer reported that his acreage of land was reduced by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) committee so that his white neighbor could acquire more land. These acts of blatant racism were nearly impossible to fight back on, because whites had such a tight grip on what African Americans could do. Laws were made that told African Americans what they could do, and most importantly, what they could not do. Educational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about Hair Dying Hair Dying As people look around the different cities of our fair country, one might notice that many people nowadays are coloring their hair to cover grey or just for the fun of it. One difference among the younger generation and the older generation is the colors that are chosen for their hair. The younger generation of this day and age seem to prefer wild colors such as Infra Red, Mystic Heather, Deadly Nightshade, Tiger Lily, etc, as self expression compared to the older generation choosing natural shades to cover the signs of aging. This can be seen in the rising number of young people that are seen around with these types of wild colors. Not all young people choose the wild colors over natural shades because some choose the ... These companies can have a productive future as long as they are able to keep up with all other forms of competition. As to my current knowledge, none of these companies offer outrageous colors such as Pillarbox Red, or AfterMidnight. People still like to color their hair so it looks like the color they used to have or a lighter or darker shade of the color they presently have. The largest group to purchase hair color products in the older generation is women. They might do this because they see grey coming in or are trying a new look out. The reason the term claimed is used is due to the fact that this particular dish may be believed to have originated in many other countries as well. As such, the recipe, and more specifically the ingredients used, will most likely differ based upon the country and region that it is originated from. With regard to the Cuban version of chicken soup, the same is comprised of thirteen (13) ingredients, to wit: olive (oil); onion (red and green); cilantro; cumin (ground); wheat (flour); chicken (stock and thigh); cassava; calabash; potato (red); plantain; lemon (juice); salt; and, pepper. Notwithstanding the fact that these ingredients are customarily used to make the Cuban version of chicken soup, these same ingredients were not all domesticated in the region that Cuba is located in. For example, Cuba is located in the Caribbean region. Out of the thirteen (13) ingredients mentioned, only one ingredient is native to said region calabash. He, even in children s books is trying to show the kids/readers in fun, rhyming cartoons that people can be evil and nothing is perfect/right. Yertle is the king of the pond but he still wants more, just like how Hitler had a lot of power over Germany that wasn t good enough for him. In the end of course Hitler and Yertle s plans fail. Another example is in the book The Lorax plays a role from Theodor s perspective of environmentalism. This book is trying to make known that us humans today are destroying wildlife/nature. We should be more aware of how we treat the earth. For example, throwing our garbage in trash cans instead of in the ocean or on the street. Theodor got his inspiration mostly from everyday life when he was a boy. • 51. Dna Replication Research Paper DNA replication, or DNA synthesis, is the process in which makes a copy of itself prior to cell division. Every cell needs a copy of genetic material. The cell needs an entire copy of the DNA molecule, so for humans that means 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs. Even though a cell needs an entire copy of the DNA, it only uses a portion of it. There are three major steps to DNA synthesis: binding of the enzyme to the DNA, unwinding and unzipping of the DNA, and synthesis of new complementary strand. In the first major step of DNA replication enzymes bind to specific areas of DNA called replication origins. In eukaryotes, like us, there are numerous binding sites that start at the same time because DNA molecules are so large that it would take too long to start at one end and go to the other. However, in prokaryotes there is only one single, circular DNA molecule so there is only one replication origin. The replication in these cells begins at one point and goes in both directions until the whole circular chromosome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DNA is wound in a double helix structure because of an attraction of charges. Helicase breaks the hydrogen bonds that hold the base pairs, adenine and thymine, guanine and cytosine, together. The separation of the two single strands of DNA forms a Y shape, known as a replication fork. These two separated strands act as a guide for the new strands to form. The final major step in DNA replication is synthesizing the new DNA strands. DNA polymerase is an enzyme that creates DNA molecules. This happens by assembling nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA. The DNA polymerase reads the new DNA base and brings in the matching nucleotide. This process of reading the base and bringing in the complementary nucleotide continues until the next replication origin is reached. These enzymes are essential to DNA ... Leadership calls for action in terms of guidance, decision making, structure and control, these qualities are necessary and evident within organizations. After World War I organizations were finding it difficult to organize and operate efficiently. It was in this period Frederick Taylor s Scientific Management framework took precedence in organizations.
