Highlights of my activities:
As a part of the required activities for the course EGR9220 Teaching in Higher Education
Practicum at Villanova University, I have had the opportunity to teach a few sessions for
CEE2105 for fall semester 2017, supervised by Dr. David Dinehart. On Wednesday November 1st, I
recorded two lectures to be posted on the blackboard and viewed by students prior to their in class
session on the following Friday and Monday. I received the PowerPoint slides for those recorded
session from Dr. Dinehart, however, added certain material to them with his consent. In particular,
I added a nine step problem solving procedure to be implemented during in class sessions, 37 and
38. The total duration of the recorded sessions was about 26 minutes. The first recording was titled
Centroids of the composite areas , and the second recording was titled Centroid of composite areas,
lines, and volumes .
On Friday November 3rd, I instructed two in class problem solving sessions from 8:30 AM to
9:20 AM, and from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM, both on the topic of centroids of composite areas.
From the two in class sessions, the second session was recorded and posted on the blackboard
webpage as well. The problems and solutions for both sessions were provided by Dr. Dinehart, and

Life Without Fate In Macbeth
Things that one may have been or done before, are irrelevant to what is being done today. It
doesn t matter who one was before, only who they are right now. Yesterday, someone may have
been awesome, but they re a fool if they think that they can base their merit off of yesterday. Some
people will do great things but no one is going to remember what they said and if they were
popular or not. In Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth struggled with an inner
conflict, choosing to killthe king or not, and he chose to kill him. When Macbeth became king, he
gained glory and pride, and in the end, Macbeth realized that everything that he has done is
pointless regarding his fate. In the last soliloquy, Macbeth said,

Girolamo Savonarola was a controversial figure in the late 1400s. Savonarola, through divine
visions, would predict the coming of a great tyrant that sought to ruin Florence. King Charles VIII

undisturbed. This connection with the divine and his deep religious beliefs would play a big role

My name is Sofian Miu and I am writing to you as a Queenslander and, I specifically, a woman
who menstruates every month. As an abiding citizen I have paid my tax in order for Australia s
economic system to thrive. However, should my choice as a woman of being sanitary really be
taxed and labelled as a luxury ? The government may tax anything materialistic in my possession,
but the government cannot tax my body. Periods are no luxury. No woman asked for a period.
Women cannot choose to menstruate. Despite this, a whole heap of disadvantages have been
created for those who do. By not using sanitary products, it can lead to a number of health risks;
jeopardise maintaining a normal, professional or personal life; and result in public ridicule.
However, it is apparent that the Australian Government disregards this and continues to tax a
necessity while at the same time, not taxing condoms, sunscreen and lubricants (Gleeson, 2016).
This issue is a worldwide problem that needs to be changed. In Queensland and elsewhere, the
topic of taxation and sanitary products have caused an outroar amongst the female population
causing much media attention and public debate; with previous reforms having been proposed by
the former Treasurer, Joe Hockey (BBC News, 2015). However, said proposals have failed to be
implemented and enacted. By using sanitary products, our Government capitalises on misogynist

I have been teaching writing for many years. As a result, I have a variety of papers for students
to write that I know are possible for third graders to write. In addition, each year and group of
students is different so I adjust the papers they write based on the level of the group and the needs
of the individual student.
We work together on planning our papers through a step by step scaffolding process and modeling
so that students have assistance with the planning process. The next stage is for me to walk around
to monitor the students and determine what assistance they need. I check for understanding of the
assignment and make suggestions as needed and to confirm they will be able to write this paper.
During this time, I will assist them with any spelling issues they may have. In addition, I
conference one on one with each student and will help them with spelling during this time. Since
I don t teach spelling, this process has worked the best. Finally, I do teach cursive handwriting so
this is a skill that we work on weekly. My goal is to finish each of the letters in the first semester
and practice these skills in the second.

The computing power of one machine is not sufficient for processing huge data sets. Hadoop
makes this possible by distributing the processing load throughout a cluster of nodes, or
different machines that send messages to one another. Apache Spark is a powerful antecessor to
Hadoop. It s more accessible, powerful, and capable of tackling various big data problems. Its
architecture is based on two kind of abstractions: Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDD) and
Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG). RDDs are a collection of data items that can be split and stored
in memory on worker nodes of a spark cluster. The DAG abstraction of Spark helps eliminate the
Hadoop MapReduce multistage execution model. In the words of Rajiv Bhat, Senior Vice
President of Data Sciences and Marketplace at InMobi, Spark is beautiful. With Hadoop, it
would take six to seven months to develop a machine learning model. Now, we can do about four
models a day . Thanks to its speed and efficiency, an increasing amount of companies are moving

frameworks, it s easy to see that Spark is far more elegant than its predecessor. While both systems
