Power Generation and Transmission is a complex process, requiring the working of many
components of the power system in tandem to maximize the output. One of the main components to form
a major part is the reactive power in the system. It is required to maintain the voltage to deliver the
active power through the lines. Loads like motor loads and other loads require reactive power for their
operation. To improve the performance of ac power systems, we need to manage this reactive power in
an efficient way and this is known as reactive power compensation. In developing countries like India,
where the variation of power frequency and many such other determinants of power quality are
themselves a serious question, it is very vital to take positive steps in this direction.
The work presented here illustrates a method to compensate for the load reactive power using a
DSTATCOM
A DSTATCOM injects a current into the system to provide for the reactive component of the load
current. The validity of proposed method and achievement of desired compensation are confirmed by
the results of the simulation in MATLAB/ Simulink.
Recent simulation for Reactive power compensation using STATCOM that is Static Syncronous compensator on MATLAB software. It having lots of advantages over other conventional methods.
A Voltage Controlled Dstatcom for Power Quality Improvementiosrjce
Due to increasing complexity in the power system, voltage sag is becoming one of the most significant
power quality problems. Voltage sag is a short reduction voltage from nominal voltage, occurs in a short time.
If the voltage sags exceed two to three cycles, then manufacturing systems making use of sensitive electronic
equipments are likely to be affected leading to major problems. It ultimately leads to wastage of resources (both
material and human) as well as financial losses. This is possible only by ensuring that uninterrupted flow of
power is maintained at proper voltage levels. This project tends look at the solving the sag problems by using
custom power devices such as Distribution Static compensator (D-STATCOM).Proposed scheme follows a new
algorithm to generate reference voltage for a distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) operating in
voltage-control mode. The proposed scheme ensures that unity power factor (UPF) is achieved at the load
terminal during nominal operation, which is not possible in the traditional method. Also, the compensator
injects lower currents therefore, reduces losses in the feeder and voltage-source inverter. Further, a saving in
the rating of DSTATCOM is achieved which increases its capacity to mitigate voltage sag. Nearly UPF is
maintained, while regulating voltage at the load terminal, during load change. The state-space model of
DSTATCOM is incorporated with the deadbeat predictive controller for fast load voltage regulation during
voltage disturbances. With these features, this scheme allows DSTATCOM to tackle power-quality issues by
providing power factor correction, harmonic elimination, load balancing, and voltage regulation based on the
load requirement.
Injection of the wind power into an electric grid affects the power quality. The performance of the wind turbine and thereby power quality are determined on the basis of measurements and the norms followed according to the guideline specified in International Electro-technical Commission standard, IEC-61400. The influence of the wind turbine in the grid system concerning the power quality measurements are-the active power, reactive power, variation of voltage, flicker, harmonics, and electrical behavior of switching operation and these are measured according to national/international guidelines. The paper study demonstrates the power quality problem due to installation of wind turbine with the grid. In this proposed scheme STATic COMpensator (STATCOM) is connected at a point of common coupling with a battery energy storage system (BESS) to mitigate the power quality issues. The battery energy storage is integrated to sustain the real power source under fluctuating wind power. The STATCOM control scheme for the grid connected wind energy generation system for power quality improvement is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK in power system block set. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme relives the main supply source from the reactive power demand of the load and the induction generator. The development of the grid co-ordination rule and the scheme for improvement in power quality norms as per IEC-standard on the grid has been presented.

This paper presents a compensating system for the harmonic currents, the reactive power and source neutral conductor current in three-phase four-wire distribution system by using a five-level cascaded H-bridge voltage source inverter (CHB-VSI) based shunt active power filter (SAPF). A controller based on the d-q-0 theory (synchronous reference frame) and in-phase disposition (IPD) modulation technique is introduced for the SAPF. The distribution network which supplies mixed non-linear loads and employing CHB-VSI based SAPF is simulated by MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The performance of SAPF is analyzed by using the proposed control technique on the total harmonic distortion of source current, power factor and reactive power. Besides, it is illustrated by extensive simulation results, the effectiveness of five-level SAPF on source neutral conductor current.

Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator (DSTATCOM) is a shunt compensating device which is used
to improve current profile by exchanging of reactive power with unbalanced and nonlinear load. DSTATCOM is a
shunt compensating device used for power quality improvement in distribution systems. Relevant solutions are
applied for harmonics, fluctuation of voltage, voltage deviation, unbalance of three phase voltage and current and
frequency deviation. Different controlling schemes such as Phase Control Method (PCM), Fryze Power Theory
(FPT), Synchronous Reference Frame Theory (SRFT) and Instantaneous Reactive Power Theory (IRPT) are used
for reactive power compensation with the help of Voltage source Inverter (VSI). In this project we are going to
balance the source current using different control schemes. The results of different source currents are compared
with a different control schemes in terms of active and reactive power and in terms of Total Harmonic Distortion
(THD) for nonlinear load using Fryze Power Theory (FPT) and Instantaneous Reactive Power Theory (IRPT).
Reference currents are generated by the different control schemes have been dynamically traced in a hysteresis
current controller. The performance of DSTATCOM for different control schemes is validated for load balancing

A Novel Hybrid Dstatcom Topology for Load Compensation with Non-Stiff SourceIJERA Editor
The distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) is a shunt active filter, which injects currents into the point
of common coupling (PCC) (the common point where load, source, and DSTATCOM are connected) such that
the harmonic filtering, power factor correction, and load balancing can be achieved. The distribution static
compensator (DSTATCOM) is used for load compensation in power distribution network. A new topology for
DSTATCOM applications with non-stiff source is proposed. The proposed topology enables DSTATCOM to
have a reduced dc-link voltage without compromising the compensation capability. It uses a series capacitor
along with the interfacing inductor and a shunt filter capacitor. With the reduction in dc-link voltage, the
average switching frequency of the insulated gate bipolar transistor switches of the D-STATCOM is also
reduced. Consequently, the switching losses in the inverter are reduced. Detailed design aspects of the series and
shunt capacitors are discussed in this paper. A simulation study of the proposed topology has been carried out
using MATLAB environment and the results analyzed.

Power quality is certainly a major concern in the present era, it becomes especially important with
the introduction of sophisticated devices, whose performance is very sensitive to the quality of power supply.
Voltage sag is one of the severe power quality problems. This report addresses all the different aspects related to
voltage sag problem, such as its types, consequences and mitigation.
At present, a wide range of very flexible controllers, which capitalize on newly available power electronics
components, are emerging for custom power applications. Among these, the distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM)
and the dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) are most effective devices, both of them based on the
VSC principle.
In the modern power system the reactive power compensation is one of the main issues, the transmission of active power requires a difference in angular phase between voltages at the sending and receiving points (which is feasible within wide limits), whereas the transmission of reactive power requires a difference in magnitude of these same voltages (which is feasible only within very narrow limits). The reactive power is consumed not only by most of the network elements, but also by most of the consumer loads, so it must be supplied somewhere. If we can't transmit it very easily, then it ought to be generated where it is needed." (Reference Edited by T. J. E. Miller, Forward Page ix).Thus we need to work on the efficient methods by which VAR compensation can be applied easily and we can optimize the modern power system. VAR control technique can provides appropriate placement of compensation devices by which a desirable voltage profile can be achieved and at the same time minimizing the power losses in the system. This report discusses the transmission line requirements for reactive power compensation. In this report thyristor switched capacitor is explained which is a static VAR compensator used for reactive power management in electrical systems.

This paper presents the simulation of D-statcom to understand the improvement of voltage stability [1] of distribution system. The power circuits of the D-STATCOM and distribution networks are made up of simpower system blocks, while the control circuits made with the simulink blocks The STATCOM is applied to regulate transmission voltage to allow greater power flow in a voltage limited transmission network, in the same manner as a static var compensator (SVC), the STATCOM has further potential by giving an inherently faster response and greater output to a system with depressed voltage and offers improved quality of supply. The main applications of the STATCOM are; Distribution STATCOM (D-STATCOM) exhibits high speed control of reactive power to provide voltage stabilization and other type of system control. The DSTATCOM protects the utility transmission or distribution system from voltage sag and /or flicker caused by rapidly varying reactive current demand. During the transient conditions the D-STATCOM provides leading or lagging reactive power to active system stability, power factor correction and load balancing.

When a customer search for a automobile, if the automobile is available, they will be taken to a page that shows the details of the automobile including automobile name, automobile ID, quantity, price etc. “Automobile Management System” is useful for maintaining automobiles, customers effectively and hence helps for establishing good relation between customer and automobile organization. It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. inverters having common dc-link with single
dc capacitor and an additional small
capacitor connected from the negative
terminal of VSI to the system neutral.

current as balanced sinusoidal and at
desired power factor.

4. Introduction:
1. Distribution static compensators (DSTATCOMs)
are extensively being used for reactive, harmonic
and unbalanced load compensation in three-phase
four-wire distribution systems.
2. However, the use of DSTATCOMs for high power
applications is usually limited by the available
maximum current rating of semiconductor devices
and their switching characteristics.

power compensation but in this topology a
reduced switch hybrid dual inverter to with a
common dc-link for active filter operation.
4. A shunt active compensator scheme
containing dual active filters operating in feed
forward and feedback modes has been
proposed to compensate the nonlinear

9. We know that in a 3-phase, 3-wire, system there is no
zero sequence current unless there is a ground fault with
ground current flowing. Even if the 3 phases are
unbalanced the vector sum of the three phase currents
will always equal zero in an unfaulted condition, even if
unbalanced, and therefore there is no zero sequence
present unless there is a ground fault.

The load consists of both unbalanced
reactive and nonlinear loads and are
drawing currents ila, ilb and ilc.
The topology uses a single dc capacitor
Cdc and an additional small ac capacitor
Cn, which is connected between lower leg
of VSI and neutral. The voltage across Cdc
is maintained at 2×1.6×Vm, where Vm is
the peak of source phase voltage.
16. The selection of Cdc is based on the
rating of dual compensator, The neutral
capacitor Cn is chosen based on the zero
sequence current which is to be
compensated.
In this when our the non-linear loads can
entered it can be sensed by D-STATCOM
device and give the feedback to the
system to control the harmonics&balance
the reactive power.

20. Conclusion:
A dual three-leg DSTATCOM to
compensate unbalanced and nonlinear
loads in three-phase four-wire
distribution systems is proposed. The
performance of this topology to share
unbalanced, harmonic and reactive
powers between two inverters and to
control the grid current THD has been
verified.
