What is Signal??
Any physical phenomenon that carries or convey information from one place to other and represents as a
function of independent variables such as time, distance, etc.
Signal
Signal processing
Signal processing refers to the science of analyzing time-varying physical process. There are two category of signal
processing.
Analog Signal Processing
The term is used to describe a waveform that
is continuous in time and can take a continuous
range of amplitude values.
Digital Signal Processing
A digital signal ,Which is discrete time-signal, is
not represented by a continuous waveform and the
discrete-time signal quantities.
Digital Signal Processing
Signal to be converted to a form that can be processed by a digital System.

Benefits: Digital Signal Processing
• Flexibility of the system offered by the software component
• Better control of accuracy requirements

Conversion of a continuous-time signal into a discrete time signal
obtained by taking “samples” of the continuous-time signal as
discrete-time instants

The DSP technology has evolved so much, right from the mid-70's, where it had just one significant
customer in military to the present day DSPs which find application in almost everywhere. The main areas
of this technology would be the cell phones which play a key role in today's voice communication. Digital

Analog Signal Processing The term is used to describe a waveform that is continuous in time and can take a continuous range of amplitude values. Digital Signal Processing A digital signal ,Which is discrete time-signal, is not represented by a continuous waveform and the discrete-time signal quantities.
