The document discusses the design of a magazine cover. It will feature a close-up main image of a character that dominates the cover. The cover will be minimalistic to focus on this bold main image. 1. FLOW
Main Image
The main image of my cover will
be a close up of a character and
it will majorly dominate the
cover. I will make the cover very
minimalistic with the purpose of
putting full emphasis on the
main image. One of my reasons
for doing this is I have seen in
market research that having a
very bold and unique main
image and focusing the cover
around it greatly helps in
making every magazine issue
look one of a kind. I will be
implementing the convention of
having the main image overlap
the masthead, as I want the
main image to be the primary
focus and masthead to be the
secondary.
In my cover I intend the
masthead to fill roughly a
quarter of the page length. I
want the primary elements of
my cover to the the masthead
and main image, with all else
coming second. The masthead
will be done in a colour
contrasting to the background
which will most likely be kept
simple so as not to detract from
the main image.
Above the masthead I will use a
header line to give information
on features and other artists
covered in the magazine, they
will be kept mostly to one word
to stick with the minimalistic
theme.

I will have the barcode in the
bottom right to be as
unintrusive as possible.
I will not be following the
convention of the left third,
instead only a small cover line
relating to the main article feature
will be present on the cover,
overlayed onto the main image.

On this page I will focus
less on the main feature as
I have already made that
the dominating feature of
the cover, here I will focus
on having small images
relating to other features.
The images will be page
numbered to link to an
article. The page will follow
the house theme I
establish in the cover in
terms of colour scheme
and design.
The magazine logo will
be included alongside the
contents header as it is a
convention I noticed that
helps to keep establishing
the magazines identity.
Features not
concerning music
directly but more
related to hip hop
culture will have less
space on the page so
as to allow the music
related features to be
the focus.
