Red Magazine is one of the biggest selling Fashion Magazines. Many
Customers tend to subscribe to it monthly. When subscribing to this
particle magazine there are much less adverts and offers on the front
page than when your buying it from a shop, below is a standard shop
copy… The difference is quite substantial, you can see now
compared to my examples above to this one, there is a lot more
advertising. The Reason Red do this is because when subscribing to
have it delivered every month you’ve already bought it, so things like
the price and barcode aren’t no longer needed. This is quite an
effective unique selling point for Red.

8. Graia Magazine is just like red, a simple fashion magazine. The design
of this particular magazine makes me think the market for this
magazine are younger to middle aged women who again are
interested in Fashion.
The Front cover is effective as it has an article for the model on the
front cover. Most magazines do this.
This magazines colours stand out and appeal to the audience eye,
mostly because of its bright illumines pink colour.

10. This magazine is again simple. The Main photo contrasts with the
background colour of the magazine and inside on the double page
spread. The blue shorts make the women stand out and also appeal to
the audience as it’s the one colour which stands out well. The black
boxes the sub headings are in also make it clear to read what each
section is on about as well as standing out.
The Layout on both pages is simple and easy to read and will help the
reader understand what there reading. This is a completely different
genre to the other magazines I’ve been looking that, and doesn’t
have the biggest market, however many people who enjoy running
would be interested in this.

11. Similarities and differences with the magazines…
The above magazines and below magazines, all have a front cover which is eye
catching, they also all have clear Mastheads.
They all contain different genres though, for example a couple are Celebrity Gossip
Magazines like Heat, Now and Closer. There is a Fitness magazine (Women’s
Running) and also there is a number of Fashion magazines – Like Red and Graia.
They also appeal to different audiences, The Gossip Magazines are aimed at a
much younger audience than the fashion, from my point of view the fashion
magazines are aimed at young/older women who are interested in fashion, the
Gossip Magazines are more for teenagers and the Women's Fitness magazine is
more aimed at young women who are interested in getting fit.

Finally I come to the Gossip magazines, these magazines are mostly
targeted at teenagers and young women who like to know what goes on
in the celebrity world.
All of these magazines stand out because of the vivid colours like the blue
and bright green. They all have at least one person someone will know on
each of the Front covers, i.e. Heat – Katie Price, Now – Cheryl Cole and
Closer – Kim Kardashian. Some teenagers may like this because not only
do they have celebrities like these women but they also contain articles
about One direction and ‘Hot xFactor People which appeal and attract
the female eye.
The Double page spreads shown, all feature something which is being
shown on the front cover, for example, Heat shows the article about Katie
Price and Closer has an article about Kim Kardashian. Each of the double
page spreads all stand out in there own way with the colours and pictures.
These drag the reader in.
