Background: Vitamin D deficiency is widely prevalent in the world. Several lines of evidence
support a relation between seasonal variations in serum vitamin D and higher relapse rates in MS
patients in winter.
Objective: To examine whether levels of vitamin D are associated with multiple sclerosis relapse.
Methods: In this study 60 patients in relapse and 60 patients in remission matched controls were
included.
Results: patients in relapse had significantly lower 25(OH) D levels than 60 patients in remission
matched controls (p= 0.004), Vitamin D insufficiency ( 10 ng/ml) was significantly higher in
patients in relapse compared to those in remission (p= 0.03).
Conclusion: The results of our study indicated that an association between lower serum 25
hydroxyvitamin D levels and higher risk of relapse among people with multiple sclerosis (MS).

American Deaf Culture Analysis
Before I took the American Deaf Culture Quiz I thought I would have known a lot but come to
my surprise I got only 2 full questions correct. I was surprised on how much information I
learned about the Deaf Community for example, that American Sign Language relates to French
Sign Language. Also I had found that 90% of Deaf people marry other Deaf people. From this
test I learned some rules that apply in the Deaf world that would be totally different in the hearing
world. I thought that walking through a conversation would be considered rude, but in their world
it s impolite to just sit there and wait till they are done signing. Likewise their facial expression us
hearing people would assume it shows emotion when really it shows grammar.

I, am a very private person, as well as a student. As students we are faced with the ever present
threat of teachers who call on us even when our heads are down taking notes and our hands are
not raised. As a student and a very private person I have come to detest these occurrences.
However while doing some research I came across an article written by Dr. Travis L. Russ
professor of Communications and Media Management at Fordham University in New York about
communication apprehension and learning styles. In this article Dr. Russ says that there is a
coloration between peoplewith high communication apprehension and learning better from
reflective work and thinking, while people with a lower amount of communication apprehension
prefer to do direct experiments (Russ, 2012). When I share things that I am thinking there is
usually a long pause in between the questions asked and my answer, which is caused by me
making sure that what I say is not especially revealing towards my inner thoughts. When I was in
Advanced Public Speaking the hardest presentation for me to give was the speech of

still get extremely anxious over what I have said, what if I offend someone? did that sound too
