The Compass And Its Impact On The World
Asia contribution, have change the way we live, without them our lives would be different. Silk, silk
road, compass, paper, Chinese calligraphy, movable type, gunpowder, and printing. They have hugely
impact the world as we known it. The contribution has spread worldwide and have been used by many
and almost everyone, because of this contribution they have made life easier. However, the compass
impacted how we navigate across the sea and a cross land as well. Compass is an instrument for
determining directions, as by means of a freely rotating magnetized needle that indicates magnetic
north. The compass become very important for navigation. Before compass navigation they navigated
with the stars. However, this mean of navigate wouldn t last long because the stars aren t out during
day and when there is storm the stars aren t visible either. The weather is unpredictable and this could
occur for many days and night. The compass help navigate through storm and when star wasn t
visible, making traveling across the sea easier. The compass was invented around the Qin Dynasty
(221 206 BC); it is unknown who invented the compass for sure. However, it was invented in china.
The first person to use the compass was Zheng He, from the Yunnan province in China, he made seven
voyages between the years 1405 and 1433.
The first compass was made with lodestone, it a naturally magnetized piece of the mineral magnetite.

Jing-Mei In Two Kinds
Jing Mei is a young Chinese American girl with a mother who immigrates here after losing her first
husband and two daughters in China. She believes that America is the place of high hopes, that there is
nothing stopping you from being anything that you want to be, as long as you try. However, when she
pushes her daughter so hard to become a pianist, her daughter decides to push back to stop her mother
from making her something she isn t. The character Jing Mei from Two Kinds by Amy Tan
exemplifies strong will throughout her life but does so in a negative manner, which affects her
relationship with her mother all the way through adulthood.
By the time she was nine years old Jing Mei was already being told she could be a prodigy. Being in

However, once another Chinese Shirley Temple appears on their TV playing the piano with a Peter
Pan haircut just like Jing Mei s, her mother criticizes the girl on TV and Jing Mei comes to her
defense by saying she s trying hard. Her mother counters with comparing the girl to her daughter, Not
the best. Because you not trying (Tan 474). All her mother wants is for her to try and do her best, but
Jing Mei just wants her mother to like her the way she is. Three days after seeing the girl on TV her
mother signs her up for piano lessons with Mr. Chong, who happens to be deaf and unable to notice as
Jing Mei plays nonsense and makes many mistakes. She quickly gathers that she can be lazy while at
these practices and not correct herself if she makes a mistake; she realizes that she never really gave
herself a chance. Her negative determination keeps her from trying, just like her mother had said. And
when her mother brags about her natural talent to her Aunt Lindo, her determination gets stronger. She
continues to cheat at her piano lessons when she is supposed to memorize her piece for the talent show
and she put more effort into practicing her curtsy than the song. This shows when it s time her to
perform the piece Pleading Child in front of her family and Old Chong. Mistake after mistake she
continues playing and at the end, she does the curtsy she worked so hard on. Then when she sees her
mother s face she feels the shame of her parents and when they return home she awaits her mother s
wrath. But, when her mother proceeds into the house without saying a word, Jing Mei feels
disappointed too, for not having a reason to yell, cry, and blame her

Porphyria s Lover And My Last Duchess
Robert Browning s poems Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess depict a mastery of the dramatic
monologue style. Said style contains a narrative told by a character s point of view that differs from
that of the poet. The character s monologue consists of them discussing their particular situation that
they find themselves within, this is meant to convey their internal information to the reader or
audience. This in turn allows the reader a glimpse into the personality of the narrating character.
Within Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess these monologues are used along with poetic devices
to develop unique male personas. Between these two personas there are evident differences in class
and within each class social issues arise within each work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both of these works contain the unique ability, as portrayed by Browning, to create a deep fictional
psyche that displays the strange relationship between man and woman. This relationship is displayed
as one full of pain, jealousy, rejection and happiness, the majority of these emotion are contained in
love and marriage. From this the reader can infer the nature of love being the conquering of class
distinction and marriage involves sexist male inhibitions. Insecurities are seen in both poems and are
evident in the perspective voices of the male protagonists, who are seen as incapable to handle their
aggressive and possessive natures when it comes to love and marriage. Browning seems to be
demonstrating the side of relationships avoided previously by Romantics and in doing so shows the
negative implication on seemingly unruly

Psalm 23
The purpose of this paper has been to provide an exposition of Psalm 23 in order to provide sufficient
evidence for arriving at an understanding that proves the LORD is the only need in a person s life due
to his role as shepherd. In verse 1, David introduces the reader to the LORD of his life. In verse 2,
David mentioned the relaxation the shepherd permits the sheep to enjoy. In verse 3, David proceeds
from verse 2 to benefit from a place to rest while getting direction from the Lord. In verse 4, David
articulated his approach to protection by the shepherd. Verse 5 speaks of David receiving food and
sustenance from the LORD.
Lastly, in verse 6, this psalm ends with a declaration made by David that consists of two
proclamations: goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the
house of the Lord forever. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

wonderful group of songs and prayers communicates the character and essence of the human race. In
them we discover the entire scope of human activity expressed. David and the other writers sincerely
poured out their feelings, representing a vibrant, influential, and life changing relationship with God.

Amputation Psychology
There are many different ways to find how meaningful physicality is to an individual. Losing either a
friend, whether from a tragic loss or simply cutting ties or how it feels to physically lose a part of our
body can be life altering. The death of a beloved is an amputation. (C.S. Lewis). Both losses can cause
major heartache and sorrow, and the physical aspect might manifest on the outside as well. Losing a
loved one is like losing a limb; the amputation causes psychological trauma, the physical pain one
may endure, and the steps they take to recover. Psychological effects of losing someone are stress,
depression, anxiety, angry, numbness and other grieving symptoms. Grief is how we respond naturally
to a loss or any kind. A person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Losing a friend is an emotional feeling you may have. It may not be physically damaging as it would
be if you lost a limb in a car accident, but it still takes steps to recover. Losing a limb at first is mainly
physical but follows with grief and eventually acceptance. One may lose a job or not be able to
function physically like they could before. If a coworker or friend saw someone for the first time
without their arm or leg they may give a sympathetic look. This may make one feel insecure about
how the look and stop them from accepting the fact that they lost a

Pinkley Northcraft (1994) emphasized that it is important to get a win win result between parties in
conflict management, maximizing benefits for every party. It is true that positive conflict promotes
understanding and leads to successful goals.
Based on the outcomes, conflict is usually divided into two types: functional conflict and
dysfunctional conflict (Balabanis, 1998).
2.2.1 Functional conflict
Functional or constructive conflict is described as a process which can facilitate the attainment of the
group s goals and to improve performance (Mckenna, 2006). It is helpful for individuals or groups to
create innovative thoughts and approaches to solve problems, and to performance better in the long
run. Perlow (2003) also argues that constructive decisions will be finally made by reasonable people
even they hold different opinions in uncertain conditions. This means functional conflict focuses on
finding a resolution to the problem.
One premise of the functional conflict is that people involved in the negotiation should be willing to
listen to one another and be interested in getting a solution that suits both sides. With this premise,
conflict can provide an important opportunity for growth. If the people is paranoid and selfish who
only considers his own profit or interest but cannot tolerant different opinions from one anther, there
won t be any chances for the success of the negotiation between both parties. Destructive
consequences will

This caused each side to bring out their own armies and prepare for civil war. The liberals brought out
the old Tsarist Army to fight the Bolsheviks. The ideology between the dual powers was almost
illusionary, because it forced the cooperation of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat7. The Provisional
Government believed in a government that supported it s citizens without the use of force, basically
everything the Tsar was against. The Bolsheviks believed in a strong army, and social equality. Since
the Provisional Government had no immediate plans for the peasants, the Bolsheviks decided that they
needed immediate action against the Provisional Government. The ideals each held were in stark
contrast, and once the unifying goal of removing the Tsar was achieved, the cooperation of the two
governments began to disintegrate. 3. The Major Failures The Provisional Government failed to solve
the major problems confronting the country such as the state of the country after the war, and the
distribution of power8. The government did not have a loyal army to help enforce it s power. This left
a power vacuum, allowing the country to enter a civil war. This caused the government to forfeit all of
the support it received before the 1917 Revolution. It also failed either to contain by force the

What Ifs Cognitive Distortion
I have found that I often fall victim to the What Ifs cognitive distortion; I frequently ruminate on what
could happen or what I could have done differently in a particular situation. I have always been a very
cautious individual and I sometimes obsess over how my decisions impact others and what others
might think of my decisions or behavior. I feel that this has a lot to do with my childhood experiences
and my drive to be the perfect child , which is of course is not possible and not expected. I was an

experienced as a result of the behavior of my older sister. There were also very high expectations that

Summary Of The Devil In The White City By Erik Larson
The Devil in the White City, a history by Erik Larson, tells the story of two men in late nineteenth
century Chicago. Daniel Burnham: a famous architect known for his towering skyscrapers, and Dr. H.
H. Holmes: a criminal known for insurance fraud, and eventually, murder. Holmes (one of many
aliases, his real name being Dr. Herman W. Mudgett) decided to build a large hotel that he referred to
as a castle to lure young women to their deaths while visiting the World s Columbian Exposition, a
fair Burnham designed. It s obvious that the author, Larson, knows this topic incredibly well and spent
a lot of time researching. He includes so many specific details and facts about the fair and Holmes
crimes that you feel as though he must have experienced it all himself, and it creates a sense of
realism. The novel reads as though it s intended for just about anyone interested. While Larson writes
with an often sophisticated style, you don t have to be an expert on anything to understand and enjoy
the story. He engages the audience by making this sound more like a story, and less like historical
nonfiction. He uses simple explanations of concepts that are specific to the time period in the book,

Johns Reflection And Gibbs Reflection in Nursing Practice
Introduction: In this essay, I will discuss several issues that seem to bind nursing practice with
questions of ethics, sociology and management. Reflective practice is an important aspect of nursing
management and in this essay we discuss implications of discrimination in nursing care and examine
the importance of anti discriminatory perspectives in nursing. In this paper, the case study I will
elaborate is of an elderly woman who was of a non British ethnic origin and spoke little English. A
junior nurse visited her home to provide care but her attitude towards the patient has been
discriminatory and abrupt, a situation that calls for serious reflection on the issues of racial
discrimination at the clinical setting. The patient was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gustaffson and Fagerberg point out that reflective practice has relevance for clinical practice as by
understanding the contents of nurses reflections, it is also possible to understand the advantages of
reflective practice and how and when such measures should be used by the nurses for further
professional development. Fairley (2005) gives a consultant nurse perspective of a clinical role in
critical care unit that has evolved as a central feature of all surgical high dependency units (SDHU) in
large teaching hospital trusts. Advanced nursing practice is perceived not as the acquisition and
application of technical procedures which are usually undertaken by doctors, but also an integration of
medicine and nursing where holistic nursing assessment and symptom focused physical examination
go hand in hand. Fairley presents a reflective account of practical problems encountered relating to
role integration, professional autonomy, legal and consent issues, non medical prescribing, and role
evaluation (Fairley, 2005). The paper successfully describes a model of nursing applied to high
dependency units integrating the role of the advanced nurse practitioner within the medical and
clinical team an reflective practice plays an important role by being the main method of evaluation of
a consultant nurse perspective. In a

How To Write An Essay About The Holocaust
The Holocaust
Everyone looks at the Holocaust as just a time in history to be remembered. That was exactly my

The deontological ethics states that there are things that we must do as a matter of principle regardless
of consequences (Moral standards, PowerPoint Slides). Here the Vice President, Rodford had to act on
the best interest of the company in making profit and surviving the competition against European and
Japanese cars. Therefore he ignored the fact of putting people in risk of accidents. The positive right
test assists the wellbeing of the company and its employee by making sales and profit. Whereas the
negative right test overrides the wellbeing of the customers and the community members with the risk
of death. Again since life is irreplaceable and profit can substituted by other means, the action of the
company is wrong from the deontological view too.
The policy that Dentex Corporation should follow is strict rules and regulation for the Product
Planning Committee regarding product safety. There should be more awareness raised among the
employees and management regarding the ethical responsibility towards the customers and society as
a whole.
2. Issue related to promotional deceiving
Another issue mentioned in the case is the deceptive advertising. Since the image of Rento was
hampered because of the accidents, Dentex decided to develop a manipulative marketing strategy.
Their strategy included targeting the young male crowd between the ages of 16 to 24, who can be
influenced easily. The experimental researched and focus groups showed that this

friend that grew a bond with you and have the chance to die in front of you? Many people will believe
that animals should be used in the modern warfare because history shows that animals like the
messenger pigeon has delivered many messages that soldiers has wrote about the locations of enemy
lines. While other people believe that animals shouldn t be in war because it will traumatize the
animal. In this paper I will present alternative position on the topic of animals that are used in the
modern warfare, considering a variety of perspectives, and concluding with a position on animals that
are used in battlefields that seems most justifiable. Pros of Using Animals in War Yes!

Traditional American Family Essay
When the idea of a family life first began, the man was supposed to be the sole breadwinner while the
wife stayed home to cook or clean or take care of the children. A traditional American family used to
be a mom and a dad, with a few kids. However, that white picket fence lifestyle has become almost
abnormal now. Ever since the choices of divorce, homosexuality, even role reversal have been offered
to families things have never been quite the same. In the early days, divorce was an extremely
shameful thing. The concept of for better or worse truly held it s meaning. A man and a woman would
almost never split up, no matter how bad things got. Today, divorce papers can be mailed and signed
with virtually no hassle, making the ending of a marriage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A century ago, homosexuality would have been a taboo thought. A family was made of a man and his
wife, with their natural children. With the choice of homosexuality being introduced, people can now
marry whoever they want to and have kids from a surrogate, from adoption, or even from artificial
insemination has greatly expanded familial bounds. A century ago, the man of the household was the
one that brought home the bacon. His wife would be waiting for him at home with a cold beer or other
beverage and have his favorite show on if a radio or TV was available. Fast forward a century and stay
at home dads are becoming more common. Single parents are almost normal to see, and the woman of
the house is now allowed to earn a paycheck. By giving families a choice in how they want to go
about daily life has greatly changed how families work now. As Pew Research Center states it, Parents
today are raising their children against a backdrop of increasingly diverse and, for many, constantly
evolving family forms. By contrast, in 1960, the height of the post World War II baby boom, there was

Evaluations Validity Grades ad Evalutation
Evaluations validity and the extent to which grades and satisfaction interrelate have created a
problematic since their inception. The problematic exists not only at the Université libre de Bruxelles
but also on a global level. Throughout the past years, several studies have been conducted, providing
evidence concerning this particular topic.
In regard with factors affecting the evaluations of instructor performance, the literature indicated that
there are indeed a series of factors that affect those evaluations. It is therefore vital to monitor those
factors so that the true performance can be evaluated. Such factors are average grade of the taught
course (Germain and Scandura (2005), Ellis, Burke, Lomire and McCormack (2003), Feldman (1976),
Norvilitis and Zhang (2009)), instructor enthusiasm and charisma (Ware Williams (1975), Ware
Williams (1977), Naftulin, Ware and Donnelly (1973)), workload (H.W. Marhs (1980), H.W. Marsh
(1982)), expected grade for the taught course (H.W. Marsh (1980), H.W. Marsh (1982)) and class size
(Frey (1978), Bausell and Bausell (1979), Ellis, Burke, Lomire and McCormack (2003)). Although
some of those factors are difficult to monitor, an evaluation should take them into account whilst
assessing a certain instructor for a certain course. Without controlling for those factors, evaluations
offer little information about an instructor s true performance (Stapleton, R. J., Murkison, G. (2001)).
Moreover, the literature provides evidence

The Revolutionary City Is Not Just An Area
The Revolutionary City provides its visitors with an adorned sense of place. Although Williamsburg
was restored from its original structures, with some changes implemented by the modern centuries, an
American faith has bestowed on the Tidewater town of Williamsburg, Virginia. Colonial Williamsburg
adequately portrays how the area incorporates the cultures, hopes, aspirations, and conflicts of the
American people of the time period. The Revolutionary City is not just an area that is composed of
colonial streets and buildings. It is a community of people and their tales of life linking the distant past

The events that occur from dawn until dusk, capture the moments that molded America into the new
nation it fought to be, with the help of our legendary forefathers, the townspeople, and even ourselves.
The Revolutionary City allows its patrons to gain a strong appreciation of the importance of the
movement towards independence from the British, and it is an incredible inspiration for people to take
the initiative to attain knowledge on how our nation began; such a project demonstrates an utmost
significance to the true lineage of the American people black and white, men and women, free and
enslaved. The core of the Revolutionary City occupies Duke of Gloucester Street, the mile long
principal street of the town. The street runs from the Capitol building, passing the taverns and trade
shops on the way to Palace Green which displays the Governor s Palace at its farthest edge, and
continues onward towards the College of William and Mary. When standing in the center of town near
the Marketplace, the Capitol is visible in its magnificent being. There are many infamous faces that
walk the streets of the Revolutionary City awaiting patrons to ask them probing questions about how
this historical landmark creates a sense of place for them in America; among them are Peyton and

Caravaggio Research Paper
As you can see, I chose Caravaggio. I chose him because, well he murdered someone. He is well
known for being one of the Fathers of Modern Art. His best pieces are The Death of The Virgin and
David With The Head of Goliath. He also inspired generations of artists to his style of art.
Caravaggio s life started on September 29, 1571 in Italy. His full name is Michelangelo Merisi. He
died on July 18, 1610. His death was caused by a bad fever on his way back to Rome. His father was
Fermo Merisi. His mother was Lucia Aratori. They both came from the same district. He didn t have
an education, considering he was orphaned. He was never married and had no children, that people
knew of. There was really no one who inspired him to make art.

MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS OF BANKS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Mergers and acquisitions are one of the popular topics in business today, since they characterize the
new economy: pressure of global competition, development of technology and disappearance of
country boundaries. The purpose of this project is to study how mergers and acquisitions affect the
share prices of the acquirer bank. We have taken up seven banks as a part of our case study analysis
and have made an attempt to study the share price pattern of Transferee Banks before and after merger
on a monthly basis by drawing out graphs and using correlation and regression.

Not only were these contributions added, but the entire scientific process had been laid in in what we
now know as the Scientific Method, the most basic structure of good science. These islamic scholars
themselves preserved the writings of many famous greek philosophers like Aristotle,
Plato, and Socrates, thus showing that there was no predominant aggression between the two.
After the decline of the Islamic Golden Age came the rise of Christianity around the 12th century and
was the next seat of knowledge. At this point there was no apparent schism between theism versus
science. During the beginning of this century and the next religion and science

During this time, in defence of the predominant seat of christianity, the Catholic Church, in that time

to do was to say to just understand it literally and throw the problem away in jail. This is what

science and religion, although it was not as bad as most people know as many religious still work in

Texas Municipal Government
The four principal forms of municipal government used in the United States and Texas strong mayor
council, weak mayor council, council manager, and commission have numerous variations. The
council manager form prevails in more than 80 percent of Texas home rule cities, and variations of the
mayor council system work in numerous general law cities.
Citizens often ask, How would you clarify the structure of municipal government in my town? None
of the four models precisely depicts our government. The answer lies in home rule adaptability. For
instance, Brownsville and Harlingen in the Rio Grande Valley have a mayor and city commission
structure. Various combinations of the forms discussed in the accompanying sections are permissible

The mayor is weak, the city council is composed of numerous individuals, and the city manager is
supposed to stay out of politics. Thus, council manager cities have a tendency to respond more to tip
top and white collar class concerns than to those of the regular workers and ethnic minorities. The
business first class and the white collar class have more organizations and leaders who have entry to
city government and know how to function the system Just a minority of council manager cities have
mayors who routinely give strong political and strategy leadership. One of these exceptions is San
Antonio, where mayors for the most part are strong leaders The council manager form seems to

Wal-Mart and Costco
1. Introduction
Wal Mart
Wal Mart was founded by Sam Walton on 1962 and it is the largest retailer in the world. The company
has three major operations which are Wal Mart Stores U.S., Sam s Club, and Wal Mart International.
On 2007, Wal Mart used this new slogan Save Money Live Better . However, there are some critics
about their employee life. Wal Mart exploits their employee s salary for setting low price to customer.
They resisted their worker to build union organization because they tried to prevent from negotiating
with employee. Nevertheless, Wal Mart is still successful in the business because they attract lots of
urban and rural consumers.

3. The process of calculation
The way I use to evaluate share price is Enterprise Value to Sales . This way can ignore growth rate
that I need to predict when I use Golden Growth .
Firstly, I use historical data to calculate FCF/Revenue and make average. Furthermore, Capital IQ
offers the predicted revenue data and I combine it with average FCF/Revenue. In other words, I get
projected free cash flow.
Secondly, Ibbotson and Capital IQ provide their bond rating, capital structure, average historical long
term risk free rate and beta. The reason I use historical risk free rate rather current rate is that it is
more stable. According to above information I can find the cost of debt and cost of equity. Moreover,
the effective tax rate can be found in their annual report. That is, I calculate the WACC finally.
Thirdly, I use EV to Sales ratio in 2011 for the base and use this ratio to multiply revenue in 2015 that
I will get terminal value in 2015. Besides, I combine discounted free cash flow from 2012 to 2015 and
add 4 year discounted terminal value. As share price is equity value divided by outstanding shares that
I have to use enterprise value subtract long term debt to get equity value.
To short, the advantage for using EV to Sales is that it can prevent from predicting growth rate
inappropriately. After all, growth

Pity from the Holocaust
A common argument for the Holocaust s causation in the creation of Israel and generous partition of
Palestine is the potential for nations to pity the Jews for their suffering. In truth, Zionism wasn t
offered any gains by the Holocaust. Not only was the genocide irrelevant to the argument of Zionism
to the rest of the world, but it also couldn t be pitied, as it was not yet understood. Overall, the
Palestine question and it was just that: a question regarding Palestine, not Israel was answered based
on the state of events in the Middle East. The events of the Holocaust in Europe were largely, if not

Israel is still a dynamic body. It manifests the very concept that clever management and tact are
inescapably valuable in all aspects of life, and if used correctly can be cast into resounding successes
from life s challenges. Attempting to achieve one s goals without consideration of others, additionally,
can be a grave mistake. It can harm entities in the surroundings without one even knowing it and
become a failure from a result that was a success in all other aspects.
The effects of the creation of Israel are still important today. The support of Israel from the United
States as well as the Partition and the creation of the State itself are sticking points with Arab nations
presently. The war of 47 and 48 is still a travesty for the Palestinians. Arabs were rife with sorrow
following their hopeless stance. They ve given the conflict the name ad naqba, or the
disaster/catastrophe (Altman 84, qtd. Tessler). The lives of Arabs, they argue, were inalterably
corrupted and defiled by the influx of external influence in the region, and they argue that the creation
of Israel was an event that both should never have happened and should be protested and fought
against. Immell states, [A] significant problem created by Israel s rise to independence is the lasting ill
will and anger that it created among Arab nations.

Elements Of Reasoning And Reasoning
The elements of reasoning were created to make people aware of their personal thoughts, as well as
other people. These elements include: purpose, point of view, assumptions, implications, data,
inferences, concepts, solve a problem (Paul, Elder, 2012, pg.68). No element is more important than
the other for reasoning and they all work together. Elements of reasoning are connected to the art of
critical thinking. Critical thinking has been defined many ways and is often described in association
with problem solving and decision making (Lovelace, Eggers, Dyck, 2016, p. 101). Problem solving
skills works together with reasoning. Reasoning is purposeful in humans in order to reach inferences

Narrative Essay On My Birthday
People in the wonderful United States of American look forward to celebrating their birthday. Some
people may wonder what did happen on their special day throughout history. I have wondered about if
any significant events that could have happened on my birthday, and through my research, I have
discovered several notable events that happened on February 2nd.
On the day, Friday February 2nd, 2001 I was born in Asheville, North Carolina. The high for the day
was 49 degrees, and the low was 22. There are approximately 19 million people I share a birthday
with, and one of those million people happened to be my twin sister. During my mothers 9 months of
pregnancy, I was twin A and my sister was twin B. The day we was born my twin flipped over me;
therefore, I was born second and my twin was born first. We were born on groundhogs day.
My name Holli came from the holly tree, which has sharp pointed glossy leaves. This is symbolic
toward my personality ironically. My last name Gouge came from a surname is medieval English. The
words gobha , and goff both mean iron worker. My family could ve assisted in the building of the
Golden Gate Bridge. On September 11th, 2001 the world trade centers came tumbling down. I was
only seven months old. The World Trade Center attack was a devastating, and horrific attack. This
horrendous attack claimed the lives of 2,996 people. As a nation we celebrate the lives lost every year,

Individual Diffferences
Describe and evaluate the ways in which environmental factors can impact on the development of an
individual s personality and intelligence.
The discussion in this essay entails the extent to which environmental factors impact an individual s
development of personality and intelligence. Development can be defined as improvement in function
which would imply that it occurs with the progression of age. Personality has been found to have a
substantial genetic influence however economic and social factors have been found to effect the
development of personality traits such as stereotypes. On the other hand, the development of an
individual s intelligence has much supporting evidence stating that environmental factors such as
education have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a person who would be described as an extravert who has lively trait may experience
extreme poverty leading to changes in their character therefore new traits may be portrayed in their
personality.
Behavioural genetics explains the development of personality and intelligence by emphasising the role
of genes in guiding our behaviour in a particular context or environment. In today society, children
within an institution may score differently on assessments, even when the teaching provided is the
same. This questions if intelligence is innate. Other factors such as health, family circumstances,
access to technology, wealth should also be considered. Research suggest that if we were to provide
all members of a population with an environment that is uniform in regards to intelligence, then
estimates of genetic influences would increase (Brody 1992). Biological explanations show that
differences in the male and female brain suggest differences in intelligence between the sexes.
However, generalising that intelligence is based on the structures of the brain would be an over
simplification and attitudes to learning and environmental influences would give a better
understanding.
Intelligence is not simply ones IQ result but can be referred to an individual s intellectual functioning
(APA 2013). Environmental factors affecting intelligence are many such as nutrition, education and
the environment lived in as well as having an effect on religion,

Blocking Diode Is Useful Tool For Limiting The Direction...
Blocking diode
The blocking diode is a helpful tool for limiting the direction energy can flow through a wire to just
one direction. It uses a semiconductor P/N junction achieve this behavior.
The diagram shows a simple setup with two panels charging a battery (for simplicity no controller is
shown) with a blocking diode in series with the two panels, which are also wired in series. When the
sun shines, as long as the voltage produced by the two panels is greater than that of the battery,
charging will take place.
However, in the dark, when no voltage is being produced by the panels, the voltage of the battery
would cause a current to flow in the opposite direction through the panels, discharging the battery, if it
was not for the blocking diode in the circuit.
Blocking diodes will be of benefit in any system using solar panels to charge a battery. Blocking
diodes are usually included in the construction of solar panels so further blocking diodes are not
required. Most photovoltaic solar panels are used to charge a battery during the daytime. Nearly all
panels come equipped with a blocking diode. The diode prevents DC current from flowing backwards
from the battery bank into the panel at night. The usual blocking device of choice is a schottky diode
with a typical 0.5v voltage drop. In some large panels, which can often source over 4 Amps of current,
the power loses due to this voltage drop

Her mother counters with comparing the girl to her daughter, Not the best. Because you not trying (Tan 474). All her mother wants is for her to try and do her best, but Jing Mei just wants her mother to like her the way she is. Three days after seeing the girl on TV her mother signs her up for piano lessons with Mr. Chong, who happens to be deaf and unable to notice as Jing Mei plays nonsense and makes many mistakes. She quickly gathers that she can be lazy while at these practices and not correct herself if she makes a mistake; she realizes that she never really gave herself a chance. Her negative determination keeps her from trying, just like her mother had said. And when her mother brags about her natural talent to her Aunt Lindo, her determination gets stronger. She continues to cheat at her piano lessons when she is supposed to memorize her piece for the talent show and she put more effort into practicing her curtsy than the song. This shows when it s time her to perform the piece Pleading Child in front of her family and Old Chong. Mistake after mistake she continues playing and at the end, she does the curtsy she worked so hard on. Then when she sees her mother s face she feels the shame of her parents and when they return home she awaits her mother s wrath. Said style contains a narrative told by a character s point of view that differs from that of the poet. The character s monologue consists of them discussing their particular situation that they find themselves within, this is meant to convey their internal information to the reader or audience. This in turn allows the reader a glimpse into the personality of the narrating character. This relationship is displayed as one full of pain, jealousy, rejection and happiness, the majority of these emotion are contained in love and marriage. From this the reader can infer the nature of love being the conquering of class distinction and marriage involves sexist male inhibitions. Insecurities are seen in both poems and are evident in the perspective voices of the male protagonists, who are seen as incapable to handle their aggressive and possessive natures when it comes to love and marriage. Pinkley Northcraft (1994) emphasized that it is important to get a win win result between parties in conflict management, maximizing benefits for every party. It is true that positive conflict promotes understanding and leads to successful goals. Based on the outcomes, conflict is usually divided into two types: functional conflict and dysfunctional conflict (Balabanis, 1998). 2.2.1 Functional conflict Functional or constructive conflict is described as a process which can facilitate the attainment of the group s goals and to improve performance (Mckenna, 2006). It is helpful for individuals or groups to create innovative thoughts and approaches to solve problems, and to performance better in the long run. Perlow (2003) also argues that constructive decisions will be finally made by reasonable people even they hold different opinions in uncertain conditions. This means functional conflict focuses on finding a resolution to the problem. One premise of the functional conflict is that people involved in the negotiation should be willing to listen to one another and be interested in getting a solution that suits both sides. This caused each side to bring out their own armies and prepare for civil war. The liberals brought out the old Tsarist Army to fight the Bolsheviks. The ideology between the dual powers was almost illusionary, because it forced the cooperation of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat7. The Provisional Government believed in a government that supported it s citizens without the use of force, basically everything the Tsar was against. The Bolsheviks believed in a strong army, and social equality. Since the Provisional Government had no immediate plans for the peasants, the Bolsheviks decided that they needed immediate action against the Provisional Government. The ideals each held were in stark contrast, and once the unifying goal of removing the Tsar was achieved, the cooperation of the two governments began to disintegrate. 3. The Major Failures The Provisional Government failed to solve the major problems confronting the country such as the state of the country after the war, and the distribution of power8. The government did not have a loyal army to help enforce it s power. This left a power vacuum, allowing the country to enter a civil war. Daniel Burnham: a famous architect known for his towering skyscrapers, and Dr. H. H. Holmes: a criminal known for insurance fraud, and eventually, murder. Holmes (one of many aliases, his real name being Dr. Herman W. It s obvious that the author, Larson, knows this topic incredibly well and spent a lot of time researching. He includes so many specific details and facts about the fair and Holmes crimes that you feel as though he must have experienced it all himself, and it creates a sense of realism. The novel reads as though it s intended for just about anyone interested. While Larson writes with an often sophisticated style, you don t have to be an expert on anything to understand and enjoy the story. In this paper, the case study I will elaborate is of an elderly woman who was of a non British ethnic origin and spoke little English. Gustaffson and Fagerberg point out that reflective practice has relevance for clinical practice as by understanding the contents of nurses reflections, it is also possible to understand the advantages of reflective practice and how and when such measures should be used by the nurses for further professional development. Fairley (2005) gives a consultant nurse perspective of a clinical role in critical care unit that has evolved as a central feature of all surgical high dependency units (SDHU) in large teaching hospital trusts. Advanced nursing practice is perceived not as the acquisition and application of technical procedures which are usually undertaken by doctors, but also an integration of medicine and nursing where holistic nursing assessment and symptom focused physical examination go hand in hand. Fairley presents a reflective account of practical problems encountered relating to role integration, professional autonomy, legal and consent issues, non medical prescribing, and role evaluation (Fairley, 2005). The paper successfully describes a model of nursing applied to high dependency units integrating the role of the advanced nurse practitioner within the medical and clinical team an reflective practice plays an important role by being the main method of evaluation of a consultant nurse perspective. Whereas the negative right test overrides the wellbeing of the customers and the community members with the risk of death. Again since life is irreplaceable and profit can substituted by other means, the action of the company is wrong from the deontological view too. The policy that Dentex Corporation should follow is strict rules and regulation for the Product Planning Committee regarding product safety. Ever since the choices of divorce, homosexuality, even role reversal have been offered to families things have never been quite the same. In the early days, divorce was an extremely shameful thing. • 23. Evaluations Validity Grades ad Evalutation Evaluations validity and the extent to which grades and satisfaction interrelate have created a problematic since their inception. The problematic exists not only at the Université libre de Bruxelles but also on a global level. Throughout the past years, several studies have been conducted, providing evidence concerning this particular topic. In regard with factors affecting the evaluations of instructor performance, the literature indicated that there are indeed a series of factors that affect those evaluations. It is therefore vital to monitor those factors so that the true performance can be evaluated. Such factors are average grade of the taught course (Germain and Scandura (2005), Ellis, Burke, Lomire and McCormack (2003), Feldman (1976), Norvilitis and Zhang (2009)), instructor enthusiasm and charisma (Ware Williams (1975), Ware Williams (1977), Naftulin, Ware and Donnelly (1973)), workload (H.W. Marhs (1980), H.W. Marsh (1982)), expected grade for the taught course (H.W. Marsh (1980), H.W. Marsh (1982)) and class size (Frey (1978), Bausell and Bausell (1979), Ellis, Burke, Lomire and McCormack (2003)). Although some of those factors are difficult to monitor, an evaluation should take them into account whilst assessing a certain instructor for a certain course. • 37. Blocking Diode Is Useful Tool For Limiting The Direction... Blocking diode The blocking diode is a helpful tool for limiting the direction energy can flow through a wire to just one direction. It uses a semiconductor P/N junction achieve this behavior. The diagram shows a simple setup with two panels charging a battery (for simplicity no controller is shown) with a blocking diode in series with the two panels, which are also wired in series. When the sun shines, as long as the voltage produced by the two panels is greater than that of the battery, charging will take place. However, in the dark, when no voltage is being produced by the panels, the voltage of the battery would cause a current to flow in the opposite direction through the panels, discharging the battery, if it was not for the blocking diode in the circuit. Blocking diodes will be of benefit in any system using solar panels to charge a battery. Blocking diodes are usually included in the construction of solar panels so further blocking diodes are not required. Most photovoltaic solar panels are used to charge a battery during the daytime. Nearly all panels come equipped with a blocking diode. The diode prevents DC current from flowing backwards from the battery bank into the panel at night. The usual blocking device of choice is a schottky diode with a typical 0.5v voltage drop. In some large panels, which can often source over 4 Amps of current, the power loses due to this voltage drop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
