Causes, And The Cause And Effect Of The Outsiders
Conare Lucas 11/1/17
Prof Philip Titan Cause and Effect Essay
When people first start reading a book there is one burning question: What is this story about? It s a
heavy question, especially for a fiction novel with so many fabricated details. You can fix this by
saying a story is all about decisions. Of course, there are other themes, but the entire story is
connected by the questions characters ask themselves and the outcome of their own answers. We can
think about how this mimics real life. How every day we are forced to consider life s chance
situations; some casual, some pressing, but all of them impacting our final growth as people and those
around us to some degree. A good example of this is when in the book The Outsiders , our protagonist
Jonny decided to kill Bob in self defense, this resulted in Jonny and Ponyboy going on the run. The
decisions, the choices, that were made by Jonny change the course of his and his cohort s entire lives
in an instant directing the whole final tale and story outcome.
In the book the outsiders Ponyboy and many other characters have to make questionable decisions. A
good example of this is, Ponyboy s choice to walk might bring up questions. Why does Pony boy walk
home alone, even though he knows it s not safe? Is he just making a foolish choice? Is he

Roy Lichtenstein Vs Andy Warhol
Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol are similar and very different in numerous ways. Both artists are
apart of the pop art era. The artists use a combination of bright colors and patterns on their work
creating the famous look of pop art. Both of the artists had to wait until later in their life to become
successful. Roy Lichtenstein was originally an art professor and Andy Warhol was a commercial
illustrator. Although, there are more differences between the artists rather than similarities.
Lichtenstein was known for his famous use of onomatopoeias in his comic strips. In his art you will
notice that there are tiny dots to create a unique pattern. When you hear Warhol, you think of the soup
cans. He used bright colors and silkscreen printing

Nasa Curiosity Mission
The topic of Mars has long been of interest to astronomers and science fiction enthusiast alike. The
premise of another planet supporting life excites people like no other. In 2004, The United States
National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA, began preliminary science experiments
and instrument proposals for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) and a robotic space probe mission to
Mars. After long testing and development stages, the mission birthed a rover, Curiosity, which was
launched in November 2011 and subsequently landed August 6th 2012. As we speak Curiosity is
collecting invaluable data for our understanding of mars including: habitability, climate and geology,
and possibly setting up a manned mission to mars in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Curiosity rover is an amazing piece of machinery, and it must be to accomplish the objectives that
it plans to. NASA obviously had the greatest minds and engineers on this project as is evident by its
construction. The rover is powered by a radioisotope thermoelectric generator, akin to the rovers of
previous Mars missions. A Radioisotope power system is a generator that produces electricity from the
natural decay of plutonium 238, which is an isotope. Heat given off by the natural decay of this
isotope is converted into electricity by thermocouples, providing Curiosity with constant power during
all seasons and through the day and night. Extra heat given off called waste heat can be used via pipes
to warm systems, freeing electrical power for the operation of the vehicle and instruments. This is
crucial as the temperature on Mars can vary from 127 to 40 degrees C. Additionally there are two
computers in board the rover called the Rover Compute Element. The computers contain radiation
hardened memory to deal with the extreme amounts of radiation in space. The rover s computers are
constantly self monitoring to keep the rover operational, such as by regulating the rover s temperature.
Communication is also a vital part of the mission which is why Curiosity is equipped with
telecommunication by several means. The first is an X band transmitter and receiver that can
communicate directly with Earth. Another is a UHF Electra Lite software defined radio

Analysis Of Dope, Malcolm, And His Two Friends Jim
Stereotypes are a hard thing to shake when growing up in an underfunded suburb like Malcolm
Moore. In the movie Dope, Malcolm, and his two friends Jim and Diggy get themselves into a
dangerous adventure. Malcolm s primary goal throughout the story is that he gets into Harvard. The
main subject of this movie is perception. The writer Rick Famoyiwa gives prime examples of the idea
that what people perceive to be true and what is true is a constant conflict. In this film, Famoyiwa
brings to attention the difference between perception and reality. One of these examples is when
Malcolm is continuously sneaking his drugs into his high school, past drug dogs and a beeping alarm
system. After passing through the alarm system many times, the officers assumed that the machine
broke. Also, after passing the drug dogs, the police simply ignored the situation due to whom the dogs
were barking at. These two events show that how people viewed Malcolm helped him succeed, he was
seen as a band geek and a good kid and because of this; there was no suspicion from the officers.
Overall, because his peers saw him as this good boy, he ended up getting away with quite a bit that
someone who had a reputation or viewed as differently would not have.
Next, Malcolm comes in a confrontation with a man who sells Designer bags while trying to get
money for the drugs he has sold online. During this, he must pass a test to get the money he needs for
Harvard. Malcolm must determine which bag is real

The Psychological Effects Of LSD Essay
The Psychological Effects of LSD Introduction nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;LSD has always been a
center of controversy in American society, often times because peoplehave been miseducated about its
effects or exposed to media bias. Its physiological effects onthe brain and body have become more and
more apparent in the last few decades when research in neuroscience peaked. The psychological
effects of LSD have been often difficult to describe and document very well they were first discovered
on April 16, 1943 by research chemist Albert Hofmann when a small amount of the drug soaked
through his fingers during a routine synthesis. He experienced an imaginative dream like state for a

user takes LSD in stressed condition or in a bad mood, a bad experience may occur. By the same

The Importance Of The Fair Trade Movement
The movement I chose to research was the Fair Trade Movement. The main goal of the Fair Trade
Movement is to provide support to allow workers and farmers in local communities to not get
overshadowed or taken advantage of by large corporations and be provided with sustainable and
reasonable working conditions. Fairtrade is important as it is used to help improve the lives and
communities of producers that are small scale. Furthermore, Fairtrade is more than just trading goods
It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows how a
successful business can also put people first. It is a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty,
climate change and economic crisis (World Fair Trade Organization).
The key values of the Fairtrade movement include five values that the Fair Trade Movement are
committed to which are: People First, Excellence, Integrity, Respect, and Passion (Fair Trade Canada).
In terms of people, the Fairtrade movement focuses their goal around promoting and improving the
wellbeing of people such as farmers, workers and other members of small scale, or local businesses.
Secondly, for integrity they try to be as honest, ethical and transparent as possible as they are
accountable to their stakeholders (Fair Trade Canada). Third, respect is a key value to the Fairtrade
movement as they want to collaborate and work with diverse groups who share similar values as the
movement. Finally, passion is their last key value

History of Drones and How They would Re-Shape Modern...
Government s targeted killing of three U.S. citizens in two drone strikes, both in Yemen, far from any

technology that has taken war and fighting to a brand new level. The technology is believed to lower
the use of troops and life loss in the wars that are happening today. Can that same technology be
considered dangerous? Or are the side effects something that can simply be considered a small cost for
something better? Drones demonstrate a growth in technological advances , and also the world.
Although as brilliant this technology might be, it brings a threat to the people.

on who is behind the trigger (Suebsaeng).
UAVs and Drone technology has spread throughout the world. This technology today has reached an
approximate of 11 countries and among them are The United States, China, and The United Kingdom.
The United States leads in manufacturing, production and usage of Drones, following is china which
is one of their biggest competitors. Having all these new advances has created some type of invisible
arms race between the countries. At the same time the U.S has a high production on what is known as
the RQ 7A shadow. Also Iran has another distributing lead and potentially present some sort of threat,
due to weaponry being near enemy countries. Looking a the United States that lead in manufacturing
and distribution, they also have the most Drones and UAVs operating at the moment. has at least 678
drones in service, of 18 different types (Rogers). By having this the U.S displays their position on the
world. Also with this there is the message of not being afraid to use their power that is displayed.

The Human Landscape Of Canada
Human Landscape
Population growth in British Columbia is among the fastest in all of Canada (British Colombia
Environmental Reporting BC, 2016). The current population for B.C. is around 4.4 million people,
which is 13% of Canadas total population (Mandres, 2016). B.C. is a growing population with an
average of 4.8 people per square Km. 60% of the population is located in the South Western part of
the province. This is known as the Georgia Straight Region. This highly populated area can be seen in
red Figure 6. The reason so many people are located in this region is due to the continued urbanization
and high levels of transportation networks. With the high volume of people living around the heart of
the city of Vancouver, this region is a perfect location for domestic and international business to take
place. With subway, train, and highway access the Georgia Straight Region is an ideal location for
commuting workers to live. As seen in Figure 7, the population density of the Greater Vancouver area
has more than 800 people/Km2 and the Greater Victoria area has a population up to 200 people/Km2.
It is a highly integrated system that is connected both with the various transportation networks but also
economically. The cities in British Colombia do not compete with each other, they work together
(Mandres, 2016). With different cities specializing in different areas of business, mining, and
agriculture there are no duplication of functions. An example of this specialization

The History Of Croatia
Southeastern Europe has been a conflict ridden corner of the world since as early as 400 A.D. From
the split of the Roman empire to the rule by the Ottoman empire to the World Wars and most recently,
the breakdown of Yugoslavia, this region has not had a boring moment in history. Such a long history
of conflict has impacted the people of this region in ways that still matter today, such as ethnic identity
and religion. While this extended, complicated history has given Croatia depth, it is not all the country
has going for it. Yugoslavia broke into 7 new states, leaving each with the challenge to develop and
strengthen themselves. Some, like Kosovo, have struggled to do so. Croatia, however, has managed to

B. History As the split between the Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire grew, Croatia found itself
right in between the two. The Pope baptized the nation and legalized church services, aligning it with
the Roman Empire. This connection with the west has continued throughout Croatian history.
In 1527, Arch Duke Ferdinand Hapsburg was elected King of Croatia. With this decision, Croatia
became part of the Hapsburg monarchy. Over the next centuries, the relationship between Croatia and
the Hapsburg monarchy varied from fierce conflicts to allied defense efforts. Throughout the
Hapsburg Monarchy, Croatia remained a separate kingdom within the kingdom. When the Hapsburg
Monarchy proposed Hungarian as the official Croatian language, the refused, saying one kingdom
does not prescribe the laws for the other. This attitude of independence was and continued to be a
strong factor amongst the people. Although Croatia was within other states or empires for over 900
years, their position was always voluntarily decided upon by Croatian leaders. Throughout this time,
the leaders maintained their right to statehood; even though Croatia was not a state, the right was
highly valued. The persistent belief that they could

Essay on This Land Is Your Land Analysis
This Land Is Your Land
By: Woody Guthrie
There are many fold songs that go unheard. But when you go back to the roots of folk music, there is
one that most every American recognizes. This Land Is Your Land has been a staple of Americana for
nearly 75 years. The lyrics start off by giving a visual image of the vastness of America. It mentions
California and the New York Island which focuses on the widest breadth of the country. Then it
mentions the Redwood Forest (Which is also in California), and the Gulf Stream waters which are two
easily recognizable features that are unique to America. While reminding the listener in the first line
that this land is both theirs and his, and in the last line of the chorus that the land was not ... Show

The other side of that sign was made for everyone, he says. So he is saying that the other side of that
sign is equally everyones and nobody has a right to keep certain people out. He goes on to say in the
next verse that nobody that is living can ever stop him as he is walking down the freedom highway.
Nobody living can ever make him turn back, because this land was made for everyone. He is just
saying that he will not give up just because it is hard. When the land was MADE for everyone, he is
not going to stop until he has reached it. The last verse that is kept out of the song is without a doubt
the very best one. It says that he has seen his people in the squares of the city and in the shadow of a
steeple, beside the relief office they are standing hungry. This brought to mind the question to Woody,
after everything that he had seen, was this land really made for everyone? After seeing all this
beautiful country, he thought that there was no reason that anyone couldn t be where they wanted to be
and do what they wanted to do. It seemed to him that the land was made for everyone. But then he
realizes, that in the most popular and booming sections of the city, there are people lining up that the
relief office to get help because they can t make a living on their own anymore. They are in the
shadow of a church steeple meaning that it doesn t matter your religion that

Logarithms Invented
The definition of a logarithm is the exponent of the power to which a base number must be raised to
equal a given number. A question that has been around for ages presents the question of whether a
logarithm is an invention or a discovery. Logarithms are essentially the same as mathematics, so
likewise, the question also queries whether mathematics is an invention or a discovery. The primary
difference between an invention or discovery is the existence of the thing being discussed. If the thing
did not exist before someone brought it into existence, then the thing was invented; however, if the
thing did exist before its existence was known, then it was discovered. In part, logarithms and
mathematics are both invented and discovered. Someone invented their existence and discovered the
facts to support their ideas, as all experiments go. laws of logarithms This abstract mathematical
concept was conceived in the 17th century in order to drastically decrease the amount of time required
for the multiplication of large numbers. The first to publish ideas on this particular subject is a Scottish
mathematician named John Napier in his text Description of the Marvelous Canon of Logarithms in
the year 1614. Years later, a Swiss mathematician named Joost Bürg published his work Arithmetic
and Geometric Progression Tables which directly connected geometric and arithmetic ... Show more

Finding False Memories Of The Mall
Texperiences.
Some people might argue that getting lost in the mall is too common of an experience to demonstrate
false memories. For this argument, Hyman et al. constructed an experiment to show the occurrence of
false memories in less that common childhood events including spilling punch at a wedding and a
sprinkler system going off a at grocery store. For one variation of this study, Hyman et al. implanted
the memory of an overnight hospitalization with a high fever, and possible ear infection. The
participants were told they were going to be asked about events from their childhood based on
information provided by their parents. They were then given the titles of the events (including the
false visit to the hospital) and asked to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some ideas in the field include looking at the response speed of the recollection of memories, and the
emotion felt when recalling the memory (Reisberg). A common assumption is that the confidence with
which memory is recalled could indicate its accuracy. However, there is very little association with
how sure someone is about the occurrence of an event and how accurate their recollection is. We are
often sure of our false memories.
Smith, Ellsworth, and Kassin explain this in their study on Eyewitness Accuracy and Confidence.
They note that most officials in court cases overwhelmingly believe confidence in eyewitness
testimony to be positively correlated with accuracy. To disprove this, they studied about 100
undergraduate students from Stanford University. They had the students watch a car accident,
participate in a filler task, and then answer questions about the car accident. They were asked to rate
the confidence on their answers on a scale of 1 (no clue) to 10 (absolutely sure). The researchers then
computed the correlation of accuracy and confidence and found the same conclusion as Reisberg
explained: confidence can not be solid an indicator of accuracy (Smith 358).
In fact, the more we are asked to recall a memory, the more confident we become, which is
unfortunate because it s easy to create a false memory. Let us take an

To what extent could the future of 3 D printing revolutionize the medical side of 3 D printing?
Introduction:
To what extent could the future of 3 D printing could revolutionize the medical side of 3 D printing?
Medical 3 D printing is a new and very interesting topic. Over the past few years it has been
progressing uncontrollable. Everyday there is new research on a new organ, prosthetic, tissue or drug
that can or could be printed by a 3 D printer. The ability to print something in 3 D is mindboggling let
alone printing a vital organ that could possible save someone s life or a prosthetic that can make
someone s life better. 3 D printing can do the impossible. In years to come the 3 D printer will ...

Medical 3 D printing has lots of different and helpful uses, it can print Prosthetic body parts, Artificial
organs, Tissues with blood vessels, Drugs, Bones, Heart valves, Cranium Replacement, Synthetic skin
and many more. In the future 3 D printing will make many more amazing and helpful things. There is
no limit with 3 D printing.
Key Findings 1:
There are a few different types of 3 D printers that are used for different uses. The main 3 that are used
are Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Thermal Inkjet Printing (TIJ) and Fused Deposition Modeling
(FDM). The type of 3D printer chosen often depends on the materials to be used and how the layers in
the finished product are bonded. Selective Laser Sintering (SLS):
An SLS printer uses powdered material for printing new objects. A laser draws the object in the
powder, and fuses it together. A new layer of powder is put down and the process is repeated until the
object is finished. Laser sintering can be used to create metal, plastic, and ceramic objects.
Thermal Inkjet Printing (TIJ):
Inkjet printing uses thermal, electromagnetic or piezoelectric to deposit tiny droplets of ink. Inkjet
printing is a noncontact technique. Droplet deposition is usually done by heat or mechanical
compression to eject ink drops.
TIJ printers are particularly promising for use in tissue engineering and medicine. It is promising use
in tissue engineering and medicine because of its

State agencies submit their requests to the governor in October. Public hearings are held in February
and March. The governor shows his or her proposed budget to the state legislature in February. The
legislature adopts a new budget in May. A majority vote 2/3 of the Senate is required to pass a budget.
The governor has line item veto authority. Line item veto is when an executive authority decides to
nullify specific parts of a bill, usually a budget bill. The governor is legally required to submit a
balanced budget proposal, but the legislature is not required to pass a balanced budget. The governor
ultimately controls the budget. The legislative branch can oversee the executive by overturning votes
on the budget, and also has the ability to overturn the governor s line item veto or veto. The governor
also has limited appointment power he has to have consent from the senate before he can appoint
anyone. This gives the legislative branch an advantage; many governors have to consult with key
legislators before making formal nominations. The confirmation process allows executive branch
appointments to be used by legislatures to gain influence on governors and their policies. The
governor also has to have majority vote to pass a budget nomination before the entire Senate body.
If the nomination is made the Senate must make its decision within 25 legislative days after the

Companion Planting Research Paper
Every culture on this planet is ripe with legend. We have the legend of Nessie, the legend of the
abominable snowman, the legend that that the Bermuda Triangle is the gateway to hell. We hear about
these legends everyday, however there is a very important one that not many of our society are aware
of. It s called Companion Planting, which is also better known as Three Sisters Planting. Although it s
been mentioned on PBS quite a few times, it s still something that the American culture is not very
knowledgable on. According the Iroquois nation, Companion Planting is in reference to the three

The Iroquois have ceremonies which honor the spirits, and commemorate the very first harvest of corn

the Native Americans through performing annual rituals. The three vegetables provide a lot of support
for each other, which essential for their growth process. Without the corn, the beans would have no
pole on which to climb. The beans help put their nitrogen within the roots of the corn which help build
up the overall fertility for the following years of corn. Corn is also less vulnerable when planted with

Merlin s The Once And Future King Merlin
Merlin really didn t get paid enough for his job.
Oh, no, he wasn t talking about his manservant position although honestly it would be nice to get a

See, many many years ago (about five actually), a giant chained up dragon had told Merlin it was his

dragon had said. He s the Once and Future King, Merlin , He ll bring back magic, Merlin .

5.3 Instances of Media prejudicing the justice delivery system
Aarushi Talwar Murder Case In May 2008, the media, both electronic and print, were flooded with
reports of the murder of thirteen year old Aarushi Talwar in the suburbs of Nodia. It was given its due
from the press. Everyone was confused and was searching for numerous mysterious questions that
were answered. This is a natural human reaction in such circumstances but in this age of connectivity
and the number of news channels, blogs and internet sites the murder transformed into a macabre and
voyeuristic interest into every detail and rumor about the case. The questioning of the maidservant of
the Talwar s by the media is outrageous, both inside and outside of the studio is a typical example of
the kind of sensationalism that the media has tried to generate. Corporate media houses before
resorting to such interviews should keep in mind the fact the power of investigation rests only with the
police and no one else. Some TV channels went to ridiculous lengths to keep this case in the public s
attention by resorting to the most pathetic form of reporting. A person by the name of Anita Durrani

speculation. Even a young friend only 17 years of age was not spared and he was named by police in

Many of the principles of Gilead are based on Old Testament beliefs. Discuss Atwoods use of biblical
allusions and their political significance in the novel.
The Handmaids Tale is a book full of biblical allusions, before Atwood begins the text an epigraph

And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob,
Give me children, or else I die.
And Jacob s anger was kindled against Rachel; and he said, Am I in God s stead, who hath withheld

Gilead is a place of evildoers, tracked with blood
The evildoers mentioned are robbers and harlotry, the prostitution obviously occurring in Jezebel s,
the local brothel in Gilead. The communal ethics of Gilead are based on the Old Testament, where
patriarchal supremacy is justified as the commandment of God.
Atwood uses biblical place names in The Handmaids Tale such as All Flesh , Milk and Honey and
Jezebel s . Milk and Honey is a representation of hope. In the Old Testament, Moses took his people
through the land of Milk and Honey in order to set them free. Atwood has used this as a place name in
order to give the reader and the Handmaids a sense of hope, so that they may one day be set free also.
This is also fashioned by the people of Gilead being prohibited from protesting because they are
notified that in the future God will recompense them for what they have endured in the past. In doing
this they offer hope to a society that has an exceptionally modest amount. Jezebel s is also a biblical
word meaning prostitution, and is the name of a nightclub in The Handmaids Tale which the
commander regularly goes to.
Passages from the Old Testament are modified to suit the teachings of the new regime. For example,
the loss of Eden would be blamed directly on women, whereas infact both Adam and Eve ate the
poisoned apple offered to them by Satan. The governmental body of

government to create programs in every community that will educate the matriarchs of that
community because it is more likely that a child will receive vaccination if the mother or a female

Analysis Of Culture Jamming By Kalle Lasn
T Culture jamming is a phenomenon with a rich history and deep traditions. This unique social
movement is used by anti consumerists who disrupt mainstream cultural institutions to encourage
people to change. The main assumptions of culture jamming become therefore an act in opposition to
the commercialization of social life, the fight against consumerism and make people aware of the
danger flowing from the corporations developments. The culture jamming movement tries to present
ads with different ways to think about consumerism and convince people to change their lifestyle.
Culture jamming attempts to jam the conveyance of our corporate and media complex and presents
itself as an antagonist toward consumer culture. Kalle Lasn and Rachel Shteir describe what cultural
jamming ostensibly seeks to do. Lasn is considered the founding father of the movement of culture

Comparing The Cities Of New Zealand And New York
The city has never stopped its pace of development since new technologies bought the city a new lease
of life. As a reason, it created many opportunities associated with transport, infrastructure,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Devolution
ESSAY
The concept of devolution was first introduced in 1998 in the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom
is made up of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Devolution can be defined as the
process whereby the central authority delegates part of her powers to the local or regional authority to
exercise on her behalf. In this case, the UK parliament, which is the central authority, transfers some
of its powers to the local authorities which are the Scottish parliament, the Northern Ireland
parliament, the London Assembly and the National Assembly for Wales.
The origin of Devolution can be traced to Donald Campbell Dewar (21 August 1937 11 October
2000). He is generally referred to as the architect of Devolution as well as the advocate for Scottish
devolution . And as such, he was elected Scotland s first First minister in the 1999 election. As ...

Essay about Teaching Morality
Teaching Morality
In The Night is Dark and I am Far From Home, Jonathan Kozol writes that The first goal and primary
function of the U.S. public school is not to educate good people, but good citizens. (1). He implies that
the public school has no function but to turn out people who will vote, pay their taxes, and follow the
nations laws without protest. If this is so, and I believe that it is, should the philosophy of the public
school system be changed to produce morally upright individuals? I believe that schools should try to
produce the best people they can. Many people argue that morals should be taught at home, but that
isn t good enough. Some say that good citizens make good people, but I say that that isn t the case.
Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still, a back up plan is needed. So the question remains: if parents aren t available or able, to make
sure that their children grow up with a good strong moral foundation, who will?
The only answer that truly makes sense is school. For six hours a day, five days a week, 180 days a
year, children are forced to spend their time in a classroom. Teachers are with their students sometimes
more than the children s parents are. These adults that are entrusted with the education of our youth
during their most formative years are in a position to exert a tremendous influence. We should take
advantage of that, not shun it.
Some people argue that if schooling teaches a child how to be a good citizen, then being a good
person will take care of itself, as if good citizenship begets a good person. This isn t necessarily the
truth.
The rougher kids called him a pinko, hippie, garbage, Communist, or faggot. (Kozol, 129)During
much of my high school career, while I was never called anything like that, I was not very popular. I
had friends who I was very close to, but I was never one of the people in the midst of the social whirl
that can be found at any high school. I didn t go to parties, I seldom, if ever, went out on dates, and the
only time that I mixed with the popular crowd was in class, if we had group work.

Travel Reflection
Around this time last year, my 2016 s New Year s resolution was nothing more than a thought rattling
around in my brain. I never felt further from my goal of paying off the debt that lingered from my first
attempt at college than when it was only a few hundred dollars out of reach. Today, I find myself once
again struggling with an entirely different New Year s resolution. I made it my mission in 2017 to
polish off a few of the projects that had dragged on over the last few years. I have real passions that I
have always considered priorities, but have never received the attention they require. With this in
mind, I know that if I want to see myself achieve these goals I must get serious and eliminate potential
distractions. Therefore, when I was asked to select three words that reflect the spirit of that goal, I
chose the words travel, education, and focus. Of the three words, perhaps the one that resounds with
me most is travel. I ve always believed that if you travel, you should focus on places that will help you
become the person that you want to be and you should do it with people that you care about most. Of
course, while I certainly did not expect to find myself in places like Paris or Saigon, I had my heart set
on a few cities closer to home. I began planning trips all over the country from visiting family in
Chicago, to exploring cities I had never seen before like Nashville and Kansas City. As for the rest of

Yes, that is correct, but there are many more parts to fiction. 4. Per Kirszner and Mandell, A work of
fiction is a narrative that originates in the imagination of the author rather than in history or fact (62)
5. Some examples of fiction are poems, epics, and novels. 6. Not all fiction is one hundred percent
false, some fiction focuses on real people and is grounded in actual events, but the way the characters

In conclusion, Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour and The Storm, as well as New York Day Women

a resolution. 3. A story s setting is not only the time and place of the story, but the setting also
encompasses a wide variety of physical and cultural elements (Kirszner and Mandell 171). 4. There

  • 2. Causes, And The Cause And Effect Of The Outsiders Conare Lucas 11/1/17 Prof Philip Titan Cause and Effect Essay When people first start reading a book there is one burning question: What is this story about? It s a heavy question, especially for a fiction novel with so many fabricated details. You can fix this by saying a story is all about decisions. Of course, there are other themes, but the entire story is connected by the questions characters ask themselves and the outcome of their own answers. We can think about how this mimics real life. How every day we are forced to consider life s chance situations; some casual, some pressing, but all of them impacting our final growth as people and those around us to some degree. A good example of this is when in the book The Outsiders , our protagonist Jonny decided to kill Bob in self defense, this resulted in Jonny and Ponyboy going on the run. The decisions, the choices, that were made by Jonny change the course of his and his cohort s entire lives in an instant directing the whole final tale and story outcome. In the book the outsiders Ponyboy and many other characters have to make questionable decisions. A good example of this is, Ponyboy s choice to walk might bring up questions. Why does Pony boy walk home alone, even though he knows it s not safe? Is he just making a foolish choice? Is he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Roy Lichtenstein Vs Andy Warhol Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol are similar and very different in numerous ways. Both artists are apart of the pop art era. The artists use a combination of bright colors and patterns on their work creating the famous look of pop art. Both of the artists had to wait until later in their life to become successful. Roy Lichtenstein was originally an art professor and Andy Warhol was a commercial illustrator. Although, there are more differences between the artists rather than similarities. Lichtenstein was known for his famous use of onomatopoeias in his comic strips. In his art you will notice that there are tiny dots to create a unique pattern. When you hear Warhol, you think of the soup cans. He used bright colors and silkscreen printing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nasa Curiosity Mission The topic of Mars has long been of interest to astronomers and science fiction enthusiast alike. The premise of another planet supporting life excites people like no other. In 2004, The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA, began preliminary science experiments and instrument proposals for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) and a robotic space probe mission to Mars. After long testing and development stages, the mission birthed a rover, Curiosity, which was launched in November 2011 and subsequently landed August 6th 2012. As we speak Curiosity is collecting invaluable data for our understanding of mars including: habitability, climate and geology, and possibly setting up a manned mission to mars in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Curiosity rover is an amazing piece of machinery, and it must be to accomplish the objectives that it plans to. NASA obviously had the greatest minds and engineers on this project as is evident by its construction. The rover is powered by a radioisotope thermoelectric generator, akin to the rovers of previous Mars missions. A Radioisotope power system is a generator that produces electricity from the natural decay of plutonium 238, which is an isotope. Heat given off by the natural decay of this isotope is converted into electricity by thermocouples, providing Curiosity with constant power during all seasons and through the day and night. Extra heat given off called waste heat can be used via pipes to warm systems, freeing electrical power for the operation of the vehicle and instruments. This is crucial as the temperature on Mars can vary from 127 to 40 degrees C. Additionally there are two computers in board the rover called the Rover Compute Element. The computers contain radiation hardened memory to deal with the extreme amounts of radiation in space. The rover s computers are constantly self monitoring to keep the rover operational, such as by regulating the rover s temperature. Communication is also a vital part of the mission which is why Curiosity is equipped with telecommunication by several means. The first is an X band transmitter and receiver that can communicate directly with Earth. Another is a UHF Electra Lite software defined radio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Dope, Malcolm, And His Two Friends Jim Stereotypes are a hard thing to shake when growing up in an underfunded suburb like Malcolm Moore. In the movie Dope, Malcolm, and his two friends Jim and Diggy get themselves into a dangerous adventure. Malcolm s primary goal throughout the story is that he gets into Harvard. The main subject of this movie is perception. The writer Rick Famoyiwa gives prime examples of the idea that what people perceive to be true and what is true is a constant conflict. In this film, Famoyiwa brings to attention the difference between perception and reality. One of these examples is when Malcolm is continuously sneaking his drugs into his high school, past drug dogs and a beeping alarm system. After passing through the alarm system many times, the officers assumed that the machine broke. The Psychological Effects Of LSD Essay The Psychological Effects of LSD Introduction nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;LSD has always been a center of controversy in American society, often times because peoplehave been miseducated about its effects or exposed to media bias. The main goal of the Fair Trade Movement is to provide support to allow workers and farmers in local communities to not get overshadowed or taken advantage of by large corporations and be provided with sustainable and reasonable working conditions. Fairtrade is important as it is used to help improve the lives and communities of producers that are small scale. Furthermore, Fairtrade is more than just trading goods It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows how a successful business can also put people first. A question that has been around for ages presents the question of whether a logarithm is an invention or a discovery. Logarithms are essentially the same as mathematics, so likewise, the question also queries whether mathematics is an invention or a discovery. The primary difference between an invention or discovery is the existence of the thing being discussed. If the thing did not exist before someone brought it into existence, then the thing was invented; however, if the thing did exist before its existence was known, then it was discovered. In part, logarithms and mathematics are both invented and discovered. Someone invented their existence and discovered the facts to support their ideas, as all experiments go. laws of logarithms This abstract mathematical concept was conceived in the 17th century in order to drastically decrease the amount of time required for the multiplication of large numbers. To disprove this, they studied about 100 undergraduate students from Stanford University. They had the students watch a car accident, participate in a filler task, and then answer questions about the car accident. They were asked to rate the confidence on their answers on a scale of 1 (no clue) to 10 (absolutely sure). I never felt further from my goal of paying off the debt that lingered from my first attempt at college than when it was only a few hundred dollars out of reach. Today, I find myself once again struggling with an entirely different New Year s resolution. I made it my mission in 2017 to polish off a few of the projects that had dragged on over the last few years. With this in mind, I know that if I want to see myself achieve these goals I must get serious and eliminate potential distractions. Therefore, when I was asked to select three words that reflect the spirit of that goal, I chose the words travel, education, and focus. Of the three words, perhaps the one that resounds with me most is travel.
