This document discusses several artists' digipaks and use of images. Frank Ocean's digipak for "Channel Orange" does not include any pictures of himself. Childish Gambino uses a "beauty shot" of himself on his pink-colored digipak for "Because the Internet." Chris Brown's dull black and gold digipak has him looking away from the audience and includes many posters of himself. Jhene Aiko's colorful floating image and natural-looking photo connect to her star image. The Weeknd's trilogy digipak includes many sexualized photos of women but not himself. Nelly Furtado's mid-shot photo can be seen as sexual but is done effortlessly, while posters within

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Digipaks& Posters
Research
on
Digipak is a patented style of
CD, DVD or BD packaging,
and is a registered trademark
of AGI-Shorewood, an Atlas
Holdings LLC company.
A poster is any piece of printed paper
designed to be attached to a wall or
vertical surface. Typically posters include
both textual and graphic elements,
although a poster may be either wholly
graphical or wholly text. Posters are
designed to be both eye-catching and
informative.
2. Frank
Ocean
Is an R&B vocalist and this is his digipak ‘Chanel orange.’
Frank Oceans’ digipak is very unique as he never
used any pictures of himself throughout the digipak;
which is very different to do however, its becoming
more modern. Artist may feel like the audience will
judge the album due to the way they look which
contradicts ‘Richard Dyers’ quote about star image as
Frank Ocean may of thought that his appearance will
not attract the audience which then shadows hi star
image.
Another technique which makes Frank
Oceans digipak stand out is the fact that he
never went with norm and just have a poster
of himself to give to his fans ,but gave them
a letter that he personally wrote telling his
audience the story behind his album .I
personally thought that was a really great
way to connect to your audience more than
just attaching a picture of himself inside.
3. Childish GambinoIs a rap artist
This is Childish Gambinos’ digipak called ‘Because of the
internet’.
What stands out to me with his digipack is the colours use
as they are very simple and the colours are countertype
colours for a male rap artist to use as his album cover which
is pink.
I love that he has used a beauty shot of himself as the main
focus of his digipak cover which lets the audience know that
is his star image which supports Richard Dyers quote “a star
is an image constructed from a range of materials” meaning
that his digipak has a picture of the star in order to connect
and inspire their audience for their self image.
However, Childish Gambino did not give his audience a
poster of himself but the main picture within the middle of
the digipak booklet to be a print design that matched his cd
design.

N
Is an Hip-Hop and R&B vocalist .
This is Chris Browns digipak to the ‘X’ album.
His digipak album cover is not as striking. I think this is due to the colours that have been used as they’re very dull ‘black
and mustard gold’ is not very striking however they do put across to his audience that he is making a statement.
The artist Chris Brown is looking away from his audience in his album cover which is not usual as he is not
making that connection with the audience on the other hand it works as it exposes his star image of being a rebel and
not really caring about peoples thoughts ,so maybe he is looking away from his audience express his attitude to other
peoples opinions.
Chris Brown Make his main focus to connect to his audience through giving them various posters of himself
which is a bit overboard to do for each page of his digipak however it work with his star image as he vein and seen as a
sex idol which links to voyeurism as he is showing his more attractive features in order to give/gain sexual pleasure to and
from his audience.
5. Jhene Aiko
Is an hip-hop and neo-soul vocalist
This Jhene Aikos’ first digipak and that is for her album
‘Souled out’.
Her Album cover is very unusual as it is of her
levitating above the clouds but the colours used for
the album are nice and bright which makes her
digipak so eye catching.
Jhene Aiko has chosen to use a
beauty shot of her face as the
picture for her face which links to
the point of her star image as she
does not look like your typical
female artist as she covered up
and is wearing minimal make up
not sexualizing herself which
contradicts the point of
voyeurism
6. The WeekndIs an R&B vocalist
The weeknds’ digipak is just a bit more than your average digipak
as his is a trilogy of three albums which is not popular to do its
very unique of him to that.
His album cover is of half of his face and a girls face cut off which
may mean that he dose not think his appearance would attract
his audience to buy his digipak also he may of not wanted the
girl to take away his shine.
The unusual technique The weeknd used was that through out
the booklets there was not one poster of his face but the posters
full of different girls next to the song lyrics and this leads
voyeurism as the woman are very sexualized leaving his audience
sexually pleasured.
7. Nelly FurtadoIs a pop, R&B and world vocalist
Nelly furtados album cover is mainly focused on her as it’s a mid
shot of her.
The positioning of this picture can be seen in a sexual manor as
she is sticking her chest out and her hair is in face and her red lips
are conventions of an sexual idol however she is doing this
effortless and not pushing herself upon her audience.
The posters of Nelly furtado within her digipak are very sexual and
this proves the many statements which say selling music to your
audience influences voyeurism as she is being very sexual in order
to leave her audience sexually pleasured however the picture used
at the back of her album she is connecting to her audience looing
very innocent and vulnerable.
