Kelly digipak depicts the artist in dark, moody urban settings through a sepia filter, conveying an aggressive and mysterious rap/R&B style through its gritty aesthetic.

3. Analysis of the Katy Perry digipak:
• When looking at the Katy Perry digipak of the album, ‘teenage
dream’, it related to the genre of music in which it is part of
and shows the audience that these songs are not very serious
and is more on the fun side, due to the colours and images
used, for example: baby pinks and blues are a connotation of
a girly girl.
• The CD’s are even designed as sweet foods such as a
doughnut and a lolly pop, showing that it is targeted at a more
girl based audience, and shows what the album may include
within the lyrics. The clouds being a connotation to candy
floss on the front cover also shows the representation of
sweets. This could also show she ideology as a singer, sweet
and all about having fun, not taking life too seriously.

5. Analysis of the Rihanna digipak:
• On first observation the digipak of Rihanna’s album ‘Loud’, the
continuous use of the image of roses through the whole pack shows
the connotation of love and desire, which could show to the
audience that the songs included could be about love. The way in
which Rihanna is pouting in her image of the cover could relate and
connote further that her songs could also be quite sexual within the
album; with even the discs have the images of roses on them. The
colours used also show the idea of lust as all the roses are
red, Rihanna’s hair and lips are also red.
• The type face/typography used is very simple on this digipak, maybe
being a connotation that everything in this album is simple and
straight to the point.
• I think this digipak would target its target audience do to the images
and colours used, the colour effect of the image gives a slight
‘vintage’ feel that is in fashion at the moment, showing that she is
appealing to a modern audience, she target audience.

6. R Kelly Digipak.

7. Analysis of the R Kelly digipak:
• When looking at the DigiPack of R Kelly the codes and conventions of the
design shows that it is representing an R 'n' B genre of music. This is shown
due to the Urban images in which are added to the cover of the DigiPack, the
images are in sepia image showing that they aren't bright and colourful as
other genres such as pop. The images are also seen as him coming over as
quite aggressive by the way in which he is posing and appearing within the
photographs, this also connotes the idea of power, traditionally found within
rap or R 'n' B music genre. The lighting in the photographs are also very dark
with could connote mystery or even danger, which again is normally associated
with R 'n' B music, showing that this digipack relates very well with its chosen
genre.

The colours used within the Pack allow it to stand out and be eye catching to
the audience, these colours also connote the idea of danger, which is targeted
to the attention of the target audience for this artist. The continuous use of
printing the 'R' over the cover shows who the artist is being advertised on the
different sides of the DigiPack so they are able to know how the artist is in
which is contained in the pack.
