4. SALIVARY GLAND
Saliva is mainly produced
by three pairs of salivary
glands.
 Parotid gland (on lower jaw)
Sub-maxillary /Sub-
mandibular(on lower jaw)
Sub lingual gland(below tongue)

5. o Salivary gland produces saliva . It’s
pH 6.8

6.  Saliva contains
Mucus – helps in lubrication.
Lysozyme – act as an anti bacterial
agent
Salivary amylase – converts starch to
maltose.
Electrolyte(Na+., K+ ,cl- ,HCo3 ) – For
maintain the slightly acidic pH of
saliva(6.8) /act as buffer.

7. LIVER
 Largest gland in human body
 Liver has two lobes.
 Liver cell – Hepatic cell
 The two lobes of liver are called hepatic
lobules.

9.  Hepatic lobules are the structural and
functional unit of liver.
 Each lobule is formed of hepatic cells.
 Bile is secreted by hepatic cells.
 Bile is stored in gall bladder.

10. PANCREAS
 Second largest glands.
 Heterocrine gland
 Secrete pancreatic juice
 Opens into the duodenum along with the
bile duct.

11.  The bile duct and pancreatic duct open
together into the duodenum as the
common hepato pancreatic duct which is
guarded by a Sphincter called Sphincter
of Oddi.
