Research Paper On The Arctic Ocean
The Arctic ocean
The Arctic Ocean is of little depth. It is the smallest ocean compared to the world s 5 major oceans.
Although, we consider it as an ocean, some oceanographers would simply state it as a sea. Since
The Arctic Ocean is small and shallow you would understand why some would recognize it more
as a sea instead of an ocean. Its is obviously cold, freezing if you would prefer to describe it that
way. It is moderately covered by sea ice throughout the year. In winter it is almost completely filled
with sea ice. Did you know the Arctic ocean surrounds the North Pole.
Did you know that The Arctic ocean was once called the frozen ocean. There was a long thought
about no oceanic life in the arctic. Due to the cold temperatures, sheets ... Show more content on

They migrate so that they can breed in the summer. People rely on the coastal plain and they are
ruining the environment for the animals that live there. Like the polar bear that relies on the
coastal plain. The coastal plain is a home to the polar bear and requires their lifestyle. They are
trying to preserve the animals that live there. The climate is changing and the ice is melting. The
temperature is rising more in the arctic, If this happens then the waters will shift. The animals that
live there will be affected.
Drilling in The Arctic Ocean is the ecosystem changing. The home to many animals is melting.
The drilling has caused problems to the water. The ecosystem is sensitive and the rapid melting is
changing the home to many. This affects animals and can cause them to be in danger. The
ecosystem is gaining more people to go see and people want use their resources. There is a reserve
for many animals on the land and the ocean. There is a federation trying to help these animals and

How Cellphones Have Become An Important Part Of Our Daily...
Cellphones have become an important part of our daily lives. They connect us to others and have
revolutionized the world we live in from social interaction apps like Tinder to a GPS that will take
you wherever one needs to go. One large competitor growing in this industry is Apple. They have
reached more than 700 million people worldwide with their product, the iPhone(Tofel 2015): a
milestone that may not have been possible without mastering the art of the global supply chain.
The path to the creation of the iPhone is not as simple as the phone itself. It requires many
pieces which all do not easily come from the same place. Professor Rivoli s book Travels of a T
Shirt in the Global Economy spoke of the line between passion and reason. Through passion an
iPhone was created but at what cost or for what reason? This is about the path taken to create a
product that over 700 million people marvel about.
For Apple, the iPhone starts on the drawing boards of engineers in California. It initially started in
2007 as a phone well ahead others in technology. But what separated the iPhone from competition
was its design characteristics of simplicity, functionality, and sleek design. Today we are on the 6th
generation of the popular device. Not too much has drastically changed from the original design,
primarily technology tweaks to improve its performance. Once new modifications have been
completed, the plans are sent to Foxconn and Pegatron to be assembled in China (Rudy Media
2014).

Essay On Disputed Territory
Disputed territory is often described as a land that has been disagreed over power and ownership
typically between a new state and the previously owning country. Disputed territory was also the
main reason for the battle between Mexico and the United States to brew. United States was the
first to act and begin this war, but did the country really have good reasoning to get even with
Mexico? Indeed, the United was justified in going to war with Mexico because 16 of our
American soldiers were killed, Mexico was just beginning to be a their own country and did not
exert enough government control, and Texas wanted to be part of the United Statesin the first place.
In the year 1846, our soldiers were sent down to the border between newly added Texas and... Show

The soldiers were sent as protectors from Mexico. Before becoming part of the United States,
Texas had new citizens already arriving in their part of the country. These citizens were coming
from the United States. Most of them were Protestants, and did not abide by the Catholic
religion, which Mexico had ordered them to. All of the previous United States citizens in Texas
agreed to revolt against Mexican officials. Texas gained their independence at the Battle of San
Jacinto and was commenced a search for a new land to abide to. They had annexed to become part
of the United States, but unfortunately Congress voted against this proposal. The reason being was
that, many congressmen did not want a large slave territory being added in the Northeast.
Somehow in late 1844, President James K. Polk was elected as a leader of this nation. He spread
the idea of Manifest Destiny throughout the nation. Manifest Destiny was a belief that it was
God s will for this democracy to spread all the way to the Pacific ocean. Before this president took
office, Congress had reversed their whole way of thinking, and voted to annex Texas. This was
where United States soldiers were sent down into disputed

Bill Gates Dropping Out Of Harvard
The world s attitude towards the personal computer may have been completely different if not for
one event: Bill Gates dropping out of Harvard. Gates came from a wealthy family in Seattle,
Washington, but even at a young age, he knew how to take risks in order to follow his passion for
computers. The developments that Microsofthas made, ranging from the earliest operating systems
such as MS DOS to the Microsoft Office Suite, have impacted the way that the personal computer
operates. Microsoft products are used around the world, by various types of customers, ranging
from CEOs to elementary school teachers and everyone in between. Both Gates and Microsoft have
had a significant hand in establishing the way the world interacts with computers.
Keira Stevenson summarized Gates rising love for technology in her article. Even in elementary
school, Gates could often be found cutting class to spend more time with the school s large
computer. Gates and childhood friend Paul Allen gained experience while playing around with
their school s computer. The two teens were later hired by a software company to seek out bugs
in the company s system (Stevenson). Gates intended on attending Harvard and following in the
steps of his lawyer father. After two years at Harvard, Gates dropped out in order to start
Microsoft alongside Allen. The two teens typically worked with the Altair 8800, which was one of
the first inexpensive computers on the market that was available for home use

My Career Story Interview, Jordan Scheller
The career I choose to do my Career Story Interview, which I m interested in doing, was Web
Developer. Technically, the person that I interview, Jordan Scheller, is officially a Software
Developer, but he creates/maintains websites which is what Web Developers do. So to be
completely clear, the career I will be investigating is Web Developer.
With that out of the way, let s talk about everything that has to do with a Web Developer. According
to a website called O*NET, the Strong Interest Inventory for this job is CIR, Conventional,
Investigative and Realistic. Conventional is ranked number one based on the nature to which
programming happens. In programming, you know where you start and where you end. You
might think you have a large amount of freedom to get to the endpoint, but in reality there only a
few, if not just one way of solving the problem. So in the job, it s the repetition of finding the
problem, identifying the end, and following the set path to which solves the problem.
Investigative is second on the list and this deals with the ever evolving principle of the job. Since
programming is relatively new, the area is evolving at an incredible pace and you must keep up
with it. You must learn the new information, master it, and then finish your project before anyone
else does. The final interest is Realistic and it relates to the atmosphere of the work environment.
You do not work on theoretical ideas; you work on projects that deals with people s interactions in

John Locke s Theory Of Self And Personal Identity Essay
John Locke a seventeenth century Philosopher uses a number of thought experiments in his 1690
account, An Essay concerning Human Understanding . He uses these thought experiments to help
explain his definition of the self and personal identity. The thought experiments that are used, go
some way in explaining his opinions and in clarifying the role that memory plays in defining the
term. Although defining personal identity was and still is a complex subject and not all
philosophers share the same views.
The term personal identity is described in the text book as what, if anything makes a person the
same person despite changes over time (Warburton, N,2011, p.18). Locke s thought experiments are
essential instruments in explaining that when a man or woman has no memory or consciousness of
events that have occurred, their personal identity is altered quite significantly. Locke aims to show
that a person s consciousness is what makes them, them. And that the biological body that their
consciousness inhabits is not always connected. These opinions are talked about throughout his
account and it is clear that John Locke feels that memory is imperative to personal identity.
In John Locke s description of the thought experiment the little finger; he discusses the differences
that can occur when a part of a human is removed and becomes its own individual body. Locke
states that If the consciousness went along with the finger when it was cut off that the finger could

Secondly, assessment. Assessment is to provide employees with feedback about their

The Pros And Cons Of Arming Pilots
We are being attacked! We need to land the plane! We are loosing people, the hijackers are
killing them all! If only we had a weapon we could safely land this plane and reduce the number
of casualties. Save lives by arming pilots. Research proves that when pilots are armed the chances
of them getting hijacked are greatly reduced. Arming pilots will help keep them and the passengers
safe during an incident. During the court sessions Kwame Holman said; Pilots should go through a
training like a law enforcement officer would...with the exception of of the investigation stuff and
driving skills etc. But they would be ready to defend the cockpit and land the plane (Holman). This
could keep all the people on the plane safe and then when the plane... Show more content on

Pilots disarmed stated; For 40 years prior to 9/11 the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rule
allowed commercial airline pilots to carry firearms in the cockpit. The rule was adopted in the
wake of the 1961 Cuban missile crisis as a measure to prevent hijackings. Just two months before
9/11 the FAA rescinded the rule. The FAA also failed to answer any questions or return any calls
asking about why they did so. This shows maybe the government had something to do with 9/11
or they think we can deal with these catastrophes. In the report U.S. Pilots Seeking to Carry
Firearms. Sara Kehaulani said; despite other steps taken to protect aircraft from strengthening
the cockpit doors to train air crews to resit hijackings many pilots say they will continue to feel
unsafe until they are allowed to carry guns. These pilots are gonna do this because they are
concerned for the safety of the passengers and themselves. Its a concern that will not go away
until the needs are met. They have tried to strengthen the doors and every aspect of security to
keep the plane safe and nothing works. It takes more thank just a strong door and a pilot who can
fly the plane. There are just to many dangers to the pilots. These pilots are not gonna be hijacked
of we armed them, but if we ignore the fact that nothing else is preventing the hijackings they will

The Responsibility Of Gun Violence In The United States
Ten years ago, it was unimaginable that gun violence could divide America so profoundly. Such
violence has prompted responses which both support and deny the constitutional right to bear arms.
This of course references the debate over gun control. The liberal left claims that the public s
access to firearms should be closely monitored due to gunviolence, while the conservative right
debunks all claims by citing the 2nd amendment to the constitution. Both arguments are wholly
valid, but it s certain that someone will have to take action as a leader.
At the moment, President Obama is leading the charge toward gun control. Over the past few
months, he has formatted a plan to regulate both businesses and citizens that buy and sell firearms.
However,

Transformational leadership s influence on job performance, job satisfaction, employee attitudes,
and employee engagement has been studied and compared to the influence of transactional
leadership on the same. This paper compares three studies by three different researchers. Wright

House, and Arthur (1993); and Shamir and Howell (1999).
Emery and Barker (2007) organized their literature review in subtopics within theoretical issues and

linking organizational commitment and job satisfaction, referencing Porter, et al. (1974), and
Kanungo (1982). They authors reviewed the relationship between organizational commitment and
customer satisfaction as being well established citing Morrow (1993), Dornstein Matalon (1989),

Biological Sociological Theory
Few, if any, issues have been more troubling to society in general than that of crime. The problems
are as well by no means new, as a range of theories and research efforts have historically sought to
clarify why crime occurs, just as there remain concerns as to how best to treat and/or punish
offenders. Within this subject, then, specific theories dominate study, and various scientists,
psychologists and sociologists tend to support biological, psychological, or sociological
explanations for criminality. Each theory, not unexpectedly, has value, as each approach addresses
known factors of the nature of crimeand those who manifest the behavior. Nonetheless, each theory
is also inextricably related to the others, if only because human conduct and existence are invariably
multifaceted. As the following then supports through individual assessments of the dominant
thinking,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As is obvious, the subject is immense, and involves a range of justice, social, and psychological
efforts and perspectives. In more recent years, there has as well been a greater emphasis on
determining the mentioned causal factors, as a more comprehensive understanding of what
generates crime must enable strategies to prevent its occurring. This in itself, however, creates
dispute, as varying studies and opinions alternately support biological, sociological, and
psychological forces as most responsible for criminality. Most arguments for each theory make
strong cases, yet it is also arguable that each is in fact exponentially related to the others, if to
differing levels of impact. As the following examines, then, biological, sociological, and
psychological theories as to crime causation are by no means mutually exclusive, and the most
valid awareness of what causes criminal behavior relies on applying

A Groundbreaking Pilot And Inspirational Figure
A groundbreaking pilot and inspirational figure, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly
solo across the Atlantic Ocean and set many other records throughout her career. Her
disappearance in 1937 during an attempt to revolve the globe devastated admirers across the
United States and around the world. Her public career lasted less than a decade starting at 1928 and
ending in 1937. She used her fame to promote two causes dear to her: the advancement of
commercial aviation and the advancement of women. Earhart symbolizes the fascination that
aviation held for Americans in the 1920s and 1930s. Aviator Amelia Earhart

Earhart came to know many of the wounded who were pilots. She developed a strong admiration
for aviators, spending much of her free time watching the Royal Flying Corps practicing at the
airfield nearby. In 1919, Earhart enrolled in medical studies at Columbia University. She quit a year
later to be with her parents, who had reunited in California.
Women, like men, should try to do the impossible. And when they fail, their failure should be a
challenge to others. Earhart was legally declared dead in 1939. Earhart s entire life had a certain
restless quality. By 1928, she had found a calling of sorts as a social worker in Boston who flew
in her spare time. When New York publisher George Palmer Putnam asked if she wanted to be
the first woman to fly the Atlantic, she agreed. June of 1928 Amelia flew from Newfoundland to
Burry Port, Wales, made her an instant celebrity, although she was quick to note that she had
been merely a passenger, a sack of potatoes, who kept the log. When she flew solo in the Atlantic
during 1932, another first for women, she proved to the world and, more important, to herself that
1928 had not been an accident. Amelia did not have many supporters in the beginning, during this
time women were not believed to have a role as such a pilot like Amelia did. After midnight, the
moon set, and I was alone with the stars. I have often said that the lure of flying is the lure of
beauty, and I

Reaction Rate Of Lipase
Enzymes are substances made of protein that help stimulate chemical reactions. One of the
enzymes crucial to human health is lipase. Lipase is one of the vital digestive enzymes released
mainly by the pancreas into the small intestine, to help the body process and absorb fats. Lipase is
a digestive enzymethat breaks down triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol.
Phenolphthalein is an indicator that is pink in alkaline solutions around pH10. When the pH
drops below pH 8.3 phenolphthalein goes colorless. Here, an alkaline solution of milk, lipase and
phenolphthalein will change from pink to colorless as the fat in milk is broken down to form fatty
acids (and glycerol) thus reducing the pH to below 8.3. The time taken for this reaction to occur is
affected by temperature.
Temperate affects the reaction rate as when temperature rises, molecules have greater kinetic energy
resulting in the molecules having greater energy than the activation energy, leading to greater
enzyme activity. However when the temperatures become too high the enzymes start to denature
leading to slower enzyme activity. Most enzymes have an optimum temperature of 37 degrees.
Aim
To investigate the effect that temperature has on the reaction rate of the lipase with fats in full
cream milk.
Hypothesis
The higher the temperature the faster the lipase will react with the fats in full cream milk.
Variables
Independent: The temperate of the water bath
Dependent: Rate of reaction between the lipase

I have improved in many ways this year as a performer and member of the Orchestra. I have
become more confident in my abilities as a musician and am more willing to make mistakes. I am

have improved my sight reading through the sight reading smart musics we had at the beginning of
the year. I have become much betterat tuning my own instrument this year, along with playing in
tune. I have also learned to adjust my bowings to what the people in front of me are doing and to

While I think there were some mistakes, like bowings and being out of tune, I think the overall

for everyone to agree on things because there were so many different opinions and voices. I also
think we should have practiced more at home because individual instruments were out of tune
and/or not on the right rhythm. I also think i was hard to practice all together and get work done
because so many different people needed help on specific sections which was time consuming
and could have just been practiced at home. Yet I think we all did a good job staying together as

The visual and the realistic arts in Spielberg s best ever
The critics all over the world with their holistic approach endeavor to find the pros and cons of a
3 hour classic masterpiece directed and created by the gods of the theatrical arts. The modern
world tends to be sufficed by the major events and their results in History but no one understands

Spielberg s realism acts here as an evidence to the genuine war situation as history cannot be
trusted through words but can only be trusted and felt through visuals. The plot of the movie is
first set in a boat as forty men reach a shore and are exterminated in a matter of seconds which
shows the intent to create a psychological effect on the minds of their audiences. Other
monumental scenes are when Private Caparzo takes charge of a German girl from a German
family in order to protect her. Scenes like these are illustrated to depict the intervensionalist side
of US for a paternalistic cause similar to their control of Philippines. Spielberg s idea of risking
lives of eight men for one man has overturned the idea of social Darwinism. As social Darwinism
promotes the idea of survival of the fittest that same idea is applied here as, Private Ryan s
survival in the war should be dependent on his fitness but instead the fitness of eight men are put on
the line for his survival.
However, putting our superficial analytical approach beside and using our holistic approach, its
quite evident that Spielberg tries to make this war look like all American as he ignored the
contributions of other nations in the D Day landing on the Omaha beach specifically. On the other
hand, Spielberg s best ever can also be criticized on the basis of

Islamic World View Beyond Islamic Development Strategy Essay
Islamic World View Beyond Islamic Development Strategy, Is It There?
Introduction
Allan Bullock and S.Trombley (1999) refer worldview to a general conception of the nature of
the world, particularly as containing or implying a system of value principles. What constructs
such a system of value principles may vary depending on each fundamental belief. It becomes
essential to know the various type of worldview as it helps us to comprehensively understand our
own worldview and gain insight from others. Just as a mirror allows us to see our own face, so an
alternative coherent worldview illuminates and clarifies our own worldview (Zaman, 2008).
Differences in worldview are the essential foundation of differences in any system, including
economic system. As Chapra (1992) said that worldview performs the same function for an
economic system as the foundation does for a building: even though the supporting foundation is
invariably invisible and unmentioned, it continues to play a determining role. In general, there are
three major economic systems which based on completely distinct worldviews: capitalism,
socialism, and Islamic economic system.
Capitalism and socialism as the prevailing systems have been proven to be unsuccessful in solving
economic problems comprehensively. One of the failure evidence, global financial crisis in 2008,
which demonstrated reckless financing instrument and moral deficiency, provides a wider
opportunity for Islamic moral economy to be perceived

In 2011, President Obama set the goal of obtaining 100,000 well qualified mathematics and

How Human Resource Management Is The Need For Labour
One of the most important aspects of human resource management is the need for labour. It is
critical for organizations to hire and motivate employees to perform at their maximum efficiency.
As such, what motivates people is a simple question that has been attempted to be answered by
many professionals alike. The complexity of the question itself is due to the fact that although
people can be segmented into different demographic groups, every person is different.
The important role of employee motivation is something that both employers and employees
should be aware of. There are many clear benefits to having an stellar workforce for organizations.
For example, for an organization to achieve organizational excellence they need to determine what
drives each employee. This can be achieved by an employer simply by taking the time to connect
with their employees and implementing work related goals. As a result, the organization benefits
because the employee will benefit. This benefits both parties because the connection between
employee and employer allows for meaningful exchanges of what is expected from each. An
individual s task performance may increase due to a management by objective plan set jointly with
an employer. Additionally, the employee will feel that they add value to an organization by
achieving productivity goals. This will further increase not only the employees career development
and overall efficiency in the workplace, but also the operational excellence

Four Theories Of Aging Essay
Age is more than the number of years a person has lived. It is measured according to an individual
s physiological health, their psychological well bing, as well as sociologically and culturally.
Theories of Aging:
Disengagement: Gradual and mutual withdrawal of the elderly and society from each other is a
natural process. The elderly disengage so that new people can be phased in to replace them.
Activity: People continue at the level of activity that they had during their middle years. High
levels of activity do not necessary mean they will live longer but that they will have a high life
satisfaction.
Conflict: The elderly compete with younger generations for jobs and resources.
Age Stratification: The elderly both affect and are affected by social change.
Modernization: In premodern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developing social bonds can keep them from feeling isolated and abandoned.
Interpersonal: Negative assumptions based on physical appearance of the individual.
The sandwich generation refers to adults who not only are caring for children but also find
themselves caring for their parents. There are two levels of care for the elderly, physical needs and
instrumental needs. Physical needs consist of such things as feeding, bathing, and toileting.
Instrumental needs may consist of grocery shopping, managing bank records, paying bills, etc.
Many issues are a concern for the elderly. Some of these include housing and health. Many senior
citizens own their home, but the upkeep and repairs may eventually be a problem as they continue
to get older. Good health care is vital. Alzheimers and dementia are major concerns for senior
citizens. The better their health, the more satisfied they are with their life. Elderly people can be
successful in the aging process.
Successful aging includes the following:

Autophagy Research Paper
Autophagy is a evolutionarily conserved essential proteostasis and catabolic membrane trafficking
process that has close associations with health and longevity [10, 11]. It maintains cellular
homeostasis and viability by regulating the quantity and quality of cytoplasmic constituents such as
organelles and macromolecules through lysosomal degradation, which is activated in response to
nutrient starvation and other stressors to generate energy and allow survival [12]. Autophagy plays
vital roles by self degrading under a variety of physiological and pathological conditions such as
maintaining the stem cellquiescent state [13], manipulating immunity [14], regulating bone growth
[15], carcinogenesis [16 18] and cell metabolism [18]. Importantly, Autophagy directly targets
pathogenic misfolded AОІ for degradation [19]. Chemical that enhances autophagy was shown to
be capable of restoring nesting behavior in a murine model of Alzheimer disease [20]. Extensive
efforts have been made on AОІ degradation by autophagy, though people also argued that... Show

The Swatch Company Lead By Nicolas G
This case begins with highlighting the success that had now gripped the Swatch Company lead by
Nicolas G. Hayek. Due to strong numbers from 2010 the company set the goal to make 10 billion.
This was only made possible by their multiple different brands across multiple different segments,
innovative technology, and coming out of a brief period of difficulty with their most profitable
flagship watch, Omega. The company now sets its sight on a new goal, surpassing the long
established brand, Rolex. In order to try and tackle this giant, the company and CEO debate how to

As I said before Swatch wasn t always this successful. In fact, according to the case, in the 1960 s
their market share fell about 41% due to competition from the then popular inexpensive watches.
Throughout this time period it is interesting to see how their strategies evolved in regards to their
competition, product placement, and brand management. First, they opted try to combat the
inexpensive watches by making an inexpensive quartz watch which they later discarded. Another
watchmaking group took their idea which forced the company to move to the more high end
market and as a result they saw their sales drop. I don t have all the details regarding their decision
of course, but it appears that they seemed almost indecisive on how to handle the low cost
alternative. It would be

Effective regulation of emotions has been viewed as a developmental achievement that serves as an

Family demographics, parenting style, level of control, and warmth and responsiveness
demonstrated by parents proves to have a lasting effect on the child s self regulation as they
develop. Positive aspects of the previously mentioned variables are positively correlated with
successful self regulation skills in children. Self regulation creates a foundation for school
readiness, successful peer relationships, and the growth of self understandings, which includes one
s self concept, self esteem, and moral development.
Family Demographics and Parenting Style A child s development occurs foremost through the
reciprocal interactions with the family unit. Parents usually establish the foundation for good self
regulation by providing an environment that is warm, nurturing, and encourages trust. Piotrowski,
Lapierre, and Linebarger (2012) focus their research on understanding the correlates of self
regulatory abilities among children. The study was aimed at evaluating various demographic and
parenting variables in order to isolate the correlates of self regulation. Demographic variables of

Nursing Shortage For The Health Care Delivery System
Nursing Shortage in America In 1960, Virginia Avenel Henderson a nurse and a theorist in the
same time, defined nursing, the unique function of the nurse is to assist the individual, sick or
well, in the performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery (or to a peaceful
death) that he would perform unaided if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge. And to
do this in such a way as to help him gain independence as rapidly as possible . It is a noble
function and to be fulfilled at the highest levels, it takes time, patience and the devotion. When the
number of people given this care is much lower than that of people who must receive the care, then
a crisis occurs. The phenomenon is acute not only in America but all around the world. Even if the
nursing is considered a meaningful work, the country is facing a nursing shortagethat grows more
with each passing year. Nursing shortages in America affect all parts of the health care delivery
system. The nursing profession is a challenge. As a nurse, you must remember every day that you
can both alleviate suffering patients by administering treatment prescribed by a doctor and by a
good word and a smile. For a good nurse should not matter how hard the day was, how much
trouble it encountered, but must remember the core values of the profession and why he/she chose
this profession. Nurses play an important role in the healthcare system. This is why they have been

Between 1965 and 1969, the age of eligibility went down gradually from 70 to 65. In the 1970s, the
government started to index the pension payments to the consumer price index, and to provide
supplemental benefits such as the Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance, and the
Allowance for the Survivor to low income pensioners.
In the late 1980s, after a prolonged period of inflation and economic stagnation, the government
began to see the pension system as costly and started to levy a special tax called recovery tax on
OAS pensions to reduce and ultimately eliminate the OAS pension for people whose annual
income exceeded a certain level.
Today, the benefits of the program include:

Abstract
Ivan Petrovich Pavlov was a Russian Physiologist that was born in Ryazan. He was born into a
Russian Orthodox family and was originally planning to follow in his father s footsteps as a
priest. His high school training was received in an ecclesiastical seminary in Ryazan. He
graduated afterwards from the Natural Sciihck Faculity of the University of St. Petersburg, and in
1879 obtained his M.D. degree from the Medico Chirurgical Academy in that city. He became a
professor of physiology in 1895 at the Imperial Military Medical Academy in St. Petersburg, where
he did research on the digestive process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under his 45 year direction, this Institute became one of the most important centers of
physiological research (Babkin, 1949). In 1890, Pavlov was selected as Professor of
Pharmacology at the Military Medical Academy. Five years later, he was chosen to the then vacant
Chair of Physiology, a position he held until 1925.
Ivan Pavlov was known for many things. From studying digestion to studying the circulatory
system to studying nerves directing the digestive glands, he had an abundance of skill and
knowledge. In 1889, he discovered the nerves controlling the gastric glands in which he received
the 1904 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. After setting aside his initial plan to follow his
father into priesthood, Pavlov received a medical degree at age 33 and spent the next two decades
studying the digestive system; but it wasn t until the last three decades of his life when he
performed the experiments that earned him his fame and significant place in history.
Classical conditioning is defined as a type of learning in which one learns to link two or more
stimuli and anticipate events (Myers 2011). At first, it was his creative mind that set off on an
incidental observation. He noticed by putting food in a dogs mouth causes the animal to salivate.
Not only did that cause salivation, but the sight of food, smell of food, the food dish, and even the
person bringing the food did as well. This sparked his thoughts into trying to imagine

A Little Bit Of The Vietnamese Culture
America has been nicknamed the melting pot. Many cultures have come together within the United
States making it possible for American citizens to be able to participate in other cultures without
leaving the United States. As a result of the diversity found in America, I have been able to
experience a little bit of the Vietnamese culturethrough my friend, Kim. Kim has been a great
source of insight regarding the leadershiputilized within the Vietnamese culture.
Kim s family is from Vietnam and moved here in the early 1980 s. Kim and her older siblings
were born in Vietnam. Her younger siblings were born in America. Her family has maintained their
Vietnamese cultural roots and have adopted very little of the American culture. Kim graduated from
high school and college in Minnesota. She works in a leadership position for the state of Minnesota
and frequently travels to Vietnam.
Kim s approach to organizational life is very structured. In her personal and work life she starts
her day out by organizing her list of tasks that she would like to have completed or addressed by
the end of the day. She provides an educated guess as to how long these tasks should take,
however, she stays flexible if one task seems to take a little longer than expected. This is similar
to how she organizes the tasks she would like her team members to be working on. When
assigning tasks she does provide a ball park estimate as to how long the task should take. However
with her team she remains flexible

Assess The Goal Of Drug Development
Drug development is the process of bringing a new pharmaceutical drug to the market. The main
goal of drug development is to produce safe and efficacious therapeutic products for the promotion
of health, and the prevention, cure and treatment of disease.
In order to assess the safety and effectiveness of new drugs, they are extensively tested before
being used in isolated cells, tissue slices or organs. Firstly, a new medical drug is tested using
computer models and human cells grown in the laboratory. If the drug passes the first stage it is
then tested on animals. In the UK, new medicines have to undergo these tests, but it is illegal to test
cosmetics and tobacco products on animals.
Animal testing involves giving a known amount of the substance

Child Sexual Abuse And Survivors
The highest concern for the article is identifying and treating child abuse, and survivors with a
given respect to different cultures. It is important to understand that every culture is different in
handling the treatment of their children. If identifications and interventions with these families and
their children are to be appropriate and successful, professionals must communicate effectively with
one another and be consistent in the messages they are giving to the families (Westby, 2007).
Continuing with the third journal article, Action, Engagement, Remembering: Service for Adult
Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse, researcher Bein studies how trauma creates invisible wounds
that requires more than time to heal. Trust does not come easily for many survivors. Although,
they may appear like everyone else, survivors are complex individuals. Child sexual abuse is
complex and can affect survivors in different ways in different areas over the years; trust, safety,
power, physical health, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, and social relationships (Bein, 2011).
Child abuse is a subject that both perpetrators in conjunction with society abstain conversing about
in the open.
Teaching survivors communication enables both an opportunity to release a heavy burden, as well
creates the first steps in rebuilding self confidence. The article includes suggested strategize
communication guidelines. Some adult survivors of child sexual abuse have years of silence and
obedience (Bein,

was Robert E. Lee an effective leader of the Confederate Army? The investigation will analyze
Lee s strengths and weaknesses that contributed to his effectiveness and the overall loss of the
Confederacy in the Civil War. The overall character of Lee throughout his lifetime is too broad,
therefore, this investigation will focus solely on the testimony of his military background, and
the personality traits that led to Lee s decisions during the Civil War. As a result, Lee the
American by Gamaliel Bradford Jr. and Robert E. Lee: The Soldier by Sir F. Maurice are

The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate in a clear, precise way, how to answer identified
NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) questions. NAPLAN is a
standardised test developed by Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority
[ACARA] (n.d.). This assessment will provide answers to each question and will indicate the
confidence with the approach used, how each answer was formulated, the steps taken or
knowledge used and whether that knowledge was known or investigated. This assessment will
also show what other way could have been used to answer each question. Precise mathematical

Observing problems in concrete form aids in my understanding and therefore the solution.
Conversely, the drawing of the diagram in a two dimensional form helped to deliver the correct
answer. I approached this question with the required knowledge and confidence to solve it
immediately.
Question 5, NAPLAN (Year 9 non calculator), ACARA (2012)
Approach: The approach used to solve this scale was ratio set up in the form of a fraction.
Workings: To calculate the ratio, the actual length measurement is divided by the drawing length
measurement. The measurements need to be represented in fraction form. The drawing length is
4cm and the actual length is 8mm.
Actual length over the drawing length: 8mm/4cm.
Simplify this fraction by determining the largest common denominator of both numbers. The
largest common denominator of both numbers is 4.
8mm/4cm : 2mm/1cm . Drawing length becomes 1cm and actual length becomes 2mm. The scale
is 1cm represents 2mm.
Another way to solve this question would be by using data measurement with the mathematical
concept of division, using part/whole method. Both shapes were square and would be able to be
divided equally. Using the part/whole method and establishing the number four was one of the
common denominators for both lengths.
DL = 4cm. 4cm Г· 4 = 1cm : AL = 8mm. 8mm Г· 4 = 2mm
Scale of drawing = 1cm represents 2mm

Essay on The Potential Effects Of A Depleted Ozone Layer
The Potential Effects of a Depleted Ozone Layer
quot; And God said, let there be light and there was light and then God saw the light, that it was
good quot; ( Genesis 1: 3 4 ). Undoubtedly, light is good.
Without light man could not survive. Light is the ultimate cosmic force in this universe allowing
man to progress and flourish. In the form of heat, light from the sun warms the Earth. Light, also, is
the single most important factor influencing the growth and development of plants. Photosynthesis,
a process by which plants incorporate light from the sun, allow plants to botanically grow and
survive. Certain forms of light are harmful and thus can be said are bad .

Regrettably, there have always been times of hunger and shortages. More frighteningly, in the
present world man is confronted with a population boom which is burgeoning near the six billion
mark. It is now more important than ever to protect, maintain, and hopefully increase the amount of
food grown. One of the drawbacks of industrialization has been the significant depletion of the
ozone layer. This depletion could have an incredibly devastating impact on the world and more
specifically agriculture. In general, quot; plants are quite sensitive and fragile when confronted with
ultraviolet increases quot; ( Zimmer,
1993, p.28 ). Words such as sensitivity and fragility only add to the urgency of the possible
agricultural holocaust. One agricultural scientist remarked, quot; soybeans, tomatoes, tobacco,
potatoes, corn, beans, and wheat are all especially sensitive to UV light quot; ( Jones, 1992, p.39
). Since most of the mentioned crops are considered cash crops the economic aspect of lower
crop yields could also spell disaster. Food supplies are surely in jeopardy when taking in to
account that quot; more than two thirds of the plant species mainly crops tested for their reaction
to ultraviolet light have been found to be damaged by it quot; ( Lean et al, 1990, p.97 ). An
increase in ultraviolet light radiating towards plants accelerates the pace at which man must decide
what to do with the dilemma of a booming and more

Christian Vs Ephesians
Christianity is not an ideal, it s a lifestyle choice. You are not born into a religion, you are not a
Christian, Jewish, Buddhist or any specific religion from birth, you are raised as to be that religion.
C.S. Lewis is an example of someone who was brought up in a Protestant household, lost faith
through his teen years and found Christianityin college. We develop our religionthroughout our
years, growing more knowledgeable from our experiences and realizing that each of God s
teachings can relate back to us on a day to day basis. Each book in the Bible is like stories with a
lesson. Mere Christianity taught similar lessons to those in the Bible, but with a philosophical point
of view. C.S. Lewis could take his experiences and relate them... Show more content on

In the Nicene Creed, it is said that God is the maker of heaven and earth, and all things visible
and invisible. Lewis talks about a crown, which is a symbol for God and eternity (Lewis 137).
Without God, having created heaven and earth or having the power to create an afterlife, there
would be no basis for people to be decent or live just lives. The Nicene Creed relates to C.S.
Lewis Mere Christianity because one provides the creation of an afterlife and the other provides
imagery of the divine life to come. In the memory text of Ephesians, it talks about how God gave
us Jesus Christ through his will and then about the crucifixion of Christ and how that lead to
forgiveness of our sins, which was a fulfillment in Christ. The first two sections of the Nicene
Creed are about God and Jesus. The sections talk of God being the Father and Jesus is the only
Son of God, then further down talks about how Jesus was crucified and then rose again. These
two sections are relative to each other because they talk about Jesus being crucified and then rising
again for the forgiveness of our sins, which is the basis of the religion Christians believe

Abstract Age or Precipitation Hardening effects on the 2024 Aluminum sample (Al 4%Cu) was
investigated by conducting two sets of experiments on 5 samples. In the first experiment, 4 of the
samples were artificially aged, and in the second experiment, only one of the 5 samples were
naturally aged. In conclusion, it is concluded that the hardness of the samples is directly affected by
the time and the temperature of the age hardening, so as the samples are age hardened longer and in
a higher temperature, the hardness of them increases accordingly. Description of theory Age or

The Ancient Egyptian Style Of Ancient Egypt
FNAR 200
Professor Heer
23 November 2015
KING NARMERS PALETTE The civilization of Ancient Egypt thrived from approximately 3100
bce until 30 bce, when the Roman Empire took control of the province. Unlike other ancient
societies, however, where art would evolve and chance with new influences, the art of Ancient
Egypt tends to look extremely similar for the entirety of those 300 years. The classical Egyptian
style of art begins in the first dynasty, which is often considered to be ruled under King Narmer.
The Narmer Palette (Fig. 1) is one of the most influential pieces of ancient Egyptian art for this
very reason, as it portrays the joining of Upper and Lower Egypt into one solid empire that
would continue to thrive for years to come at the fault of King Narmer. Unlike the art of
prehistoric Egypt, dynastic art tends to focus on kingship and portraying the king as the sole
ruler and most important figure in the civilization. Because of the powerful themes on both sides
of the palette, the Narmer Palette has emerged as one of the most crucial pieces of artwork from
early Egypt as it represents the joining of the prehistoric past of the civilization and the pharaonic
dynasty that was beginning to emerge. King Narmer is considered by historians to be the first
pharaoh of unified Egypt. It is suggested that during his rule, he was responsible for uniting the
former Upper and Lower Egypt to form one strong central Egypt, of which he became king. His
kingship initiated the

The Policy Categories And Be Able For Cite Examples
1) Review the policy categories and be able to cite examples: a) Constituent policies involves the
structure that makes up the government. Constituent policies are concerned with the establishment
of government structure, establishment of rules or procedures for the conduct of government, rules
that distribute or divide power and jurisdiction within the present and future governmentpolicies
might be made. A structural example of constituent policyis the creation of the Department of
Homeland Security. In 2002, President George Bush did not see the need of a department to
manage terrorism, however, he changed his mind and called on Congress to create a Department of
Homeland Security. A procedural example of constituent policy is the Federal Administrative
Procedure Act of 1946 with outlined the procedures to be used by agencies to ensure openness and
fairness in agency decision making. Constituent policies also include matters that involve personnel
practices and budgetary actions. b) Distributive policies the allocation of benefits or services, at no
cost, to particular segments of the population individuals, groups, companies, or communities.
These benefits or services include subsidies, grants, loans, technical assistance, information (as on
the weather), contracts, unemployment benefits, and river and harbor improvement actions. The
cost of these benefits and services are paid from the public treasury, which means taxpayer

With reference to the source, outline two features of the UK constitution (5 marks)
One feature would be that the UK constitution is uncodified which is a unwritten document where
as in the majority of countries there is a codified constitution which is a single document an
example of this would be the American constitution, drafted around 200 years ago, which is written
down on a piece of paper and lays down the rights of American citizens and also the powers of her
government. Another feature would be that the UK constitution derives from a number of sources
one of them being statute law, law passed by government. The fact that our constitution is unwritten
means that there is no system of formal checks and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is strength as taking time to evolve is seen as a good aspect because there were no drastic
changes, which enabled a steady and stable transition into more modern times. For example in
the UK, the power of the monarch has decreased over time and is now seen as more ceremonial
and a figurehead. The royal prerogative in the past was able to declare war, however nowadays
parliament make powerful decisions like this one. This changed because society wanted the
views and opinions of everyone to be heard and not the high class people and the monarch as
then the law would be bias and not satisfy everyone. This shows how it has adapted to fit the
needs of society. On the other hand some may same that the UK constitution is out dated and not
suitable for today. For example the Bill of Rights was established in 1689 and still is valid today,
this isn t good as it gives government absolute power, which reveals that the UK has an elective
dictatorship which removes some say from the citizens, this completely contradicts the idea of
having an uncodified constitution.
It is very easy to change the UK constitution because it is flexible, this can be done through an Act
of Parliament e.g. a statute. Where as the US constitution is very rigid and hard to change, this is
changed by higher law. Having a flexible

  • 2. Research Paper On The Arctic Ocean The Arctic ocean The Arctic Ocean is of little depth. It is the smallest ocean compared to the world s 5 major oceans. Although, we consider it as an ocean, some oceanographers would simply state it as a sea. Since The Arctic Ocean is small and shallow you would understand why some would recognize it more as a sea instead of an ocean. Its is obviously cold, freezing if you would prefer to describe it that way. It is moderately covered by sea ice throughout the year. In winter it is almost completely filled with sea ice. Did you know the Arctic ocean surrounds the North Pole. Did you know that The Arctic ocean was once called the frozen ocean. There was a long thought about no oceanic life in the arctic. • 3. How Cellphones Have Become An Important Part Of Our Daily... Cellphones have become an important part of our daily lives. They connect us to others and have revolutionized the world we live in from social interaction apps like Tinder to a GPS that will take you wherever one needs to go. One large competitor growing in this industry is Apple. They have reached more than 700 million people worldwide with their product, the iPhone(Tofel 2015): a milestone that may not have been possible without mastering the art of the global supply chain. The path to the creation of the iPhone is not as simple as the phone itself. It requires many pieces which all do not easily come from the same place. Professor Rivoli s book Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy spoke of the line between passion and reason. Through passion an iPhone was created but at what cost or for what reason? This is about the path taken to create a product that over 700 million people marvel about. For Apple, the iPhone starts on the drawing boards of engineers in California. It initially started in 2007 as a phone well ahead others in technology. But what separated the iPhone from competition was its design characteristics of simplicity, functionality, and sleek design. Today we are on the 6th generation of the popular device. Not too much has drastically changed from the original design, primarily technology tweaks to improve its performance. Once new modifications have been completed, the plans are sent to Foxconn and Pegatron to be assembled in China (Rudy Media 2014). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Disputed Territory Disputed territory is often described as a land that has been disagreed over power and ownership typically between a new state and the previously owning country. Disputed territory was also the main reason for the battle between Mexico and the United States to brew. United States was the first to act and begin this war, but did the country really have good reasoning to get even with Mexico? Indeed, the United was justified in going to war with Mexico because 16 of our American soldiers were killed, Mexico was just beginning to be a their own country and did not exert enough government control, and Texas wanted to be part of the United Statesin the first place. In the year 1846, our soldiers were sent down to the border between newly added Texas and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The soldiers were sent as protectors from Mexico. Before becoming part of the United States, Texas had new citizens already arriving in their part of the country. These citizens were coming from the United States. Most of them were Protestants, and did not abide by the Catholic religion, which Mexico had ordered them to. All of the previous United States citizens in Texas agreed to revolt against Mexican officials. Texas gained their independence at the Battle of San Jacinto and was commenced a search for a new land to abide to. They had annexed to become part of the United States, but unfortunately Congress voted against this proposal. The reason being was that, many congressmen did not want a large slave territory being added in the Northeast. Somehow in late 1844, President James K. Polk was elected as a leader of this nation. He spread the idea of Manifest Destiny throughout the nation. Manifest Destiny was a belief that it was God s will for this democracy to spread all the way to the Pacific ocean. Before this president took office, Congress had reversed their whole way of thinking, and voted to annex Texas. This was where United States soldiers were sent down into disputed ... Gates came from a wealthy family in Seattle, Washington, but even at a young age, he knew how to take risks in order to follow his passion for computers. The developments that Microsofthas made, ranging from the earliest operating systems such as MS DOS to the Microsoft Office Suite, have impacted the way that the personal computer operates. Microsoft products are used around the world, by various types of customers, ranging from CEOs to elementary school teachers and everyone in between. Technically, the person that I interview, Jordan Scheller, is officially a Software Developer, but he creates/maintains websites which is what Web Developers do. So to be completely clear, the career I will be investigating is Web Developer. With that out of the way, let s talk about everything that has to do with a Web Developer. According to a website called O*NET, the Strong Interest Inventory for this job is CIR, Conventional, Investigative and Realistic. Conventional is ranked number one based on the nature to which programming happens. In programming, you know where you start and where you end. You might think you have a large amount of freedom to get to the endpoint, but in reality there only a few, if not just one way of solving the problem. So in the job, it s the repetition of finding the problem, identifying the end, and following the set path to which solves the problem. Investigative is second on the list and this deals with the ever evolving principle of the job. Since programming is relatively new, the area is evolving at an incredible pace and you must keep up with it. You must learn the new information, master it, and then finish your project before anyone else does. The final interest is Realistic and it relates to the atmosphere of the work environment. • 7. John Locke s Theory Of Self And Personal Identity Essay John Locke a seventeenth century Philosopher uses a number of thought experiments in his 1690 account, An Essay concerning Human Understanding . He uses these thought experiments to help explain his definition of the self and personal identity. The thought experiments that are used, go some way in explaining his opinions and in clarifying the role that memory plays in defining the term. Although defining personal identity was and still is a complex subject and not all philosophers share the same views. The term personal identity is described in the text book as what, if anything makes a person the same person despite changes over time (Warburton, N,2011, p.18). Locke s thought experiments are essential instruments in explaining that when a man or woman has no memory or consciousness of events that have occurred, their personal identity is altered quite significantly. Locke aims to show that a person s consciousness is what makes them, them. And that the biological body that their consciousness inhabits is not always connected. These opinions are talked about throughout his account and it is clear that John Locke feels that memory is imperative to personal identity. In John Locke s description of the thought experiment the little finger; he discusses the differences that can occur when a part of a human is removed and becomes its own individual body. Research proves that when pilots are armed the chances of them getting hijacked are greatly reduced. Arming pilots will help keep them and the passengers safe during an incident. During the court sessions Kwame Holman said; Pilots should go through a training like a law enforcement officer would...with the exception of of the investigation stuff and driving skills etc. But they would be ready to defend the cockpit and land the plane (Holman). Pilots disarmed stated; For 40 years prior to 9/11 the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rule allowed commercial airline pilots to carry firearms in the cockpit. The rule was adopted in the wake of the 1961 Cuban missile crisis as a measure to prevent hijackings. Just two months before 9/11 the FAA rescinded the rule. The FAA also failed to answer any questions or return any calls asking about why they did so. This shows maybe the government had something to do with 9/11 or they think we can deal with these catastrophes. In the report U.S. Pilots Seeking to Carry Firearms. Sara Kehaulani said; despite other steps taken to protect aircraft from strengthening the cockpit doors to train air crews to resit hijackings many pilots say they will continue to feel unsafe until they are allowed to carry guns. These pilots are gonna do this because they are concerned for the safety of the passengers and themselves. Its a concern that will not go away until the needs are met. They have tried to strengthen the doors and every aspect of security to keep the plane safe and nothing works. It takes more thank just a strong door and a pilot who can fly the plane. Such violence has prompted responses which both support and deny the constitutional right to bear arms. This of course references the debate over gun control. The liberal left claims that the public s access to firearms should be closely monitored due to gunviolence, while the conservative right debunks all claims by citing the 2nd amendment to the constitution. Both arguments are wholly valid, but it s certain that someone will have to take action as a leader. At the moment, President Obama is leading the charge toward gun control. • 12. Biological Sociological Theory Few, if any, issues have been more troubling to society in general than that of crime. The problems are as well by no means new, as a range of theories and research efforts have historically sought to clarify why crime occurs, just as there remain concerns as to how best to treat and/or punish offenders. Within this subject, then, specific theories dominate study, and various scientists, psychologists and sociologists tend to support biological, psychological, or sociological explanations for criminality. Each theory, not unexpectedly, has value, as each approach addresses known factors of the nature of crimeand those who manifest the behavior. Nonetheless, each theory is also inextricably related to the others, if only because human conduct and existence are invariably multifaceted. As the following then supports through individual assessments of the dominant thinking,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As is obvious, the subject is immense, and involves a range of justice, social, and psychological efforts and perspectives. In more recent years, there has as well been a greater emphasis on determining the mentioned causal factors, as a more comprehensive understanding of what generates crime must enable strategies to prevent its occurring. This in itself, however, creates dispute, as varying studies and opinions alternately support biological, sociological, and psychological forces as most responsible for criminality. Most arguments for each theory make strong cases, yet it is also arguable that each is in fact exponentially related to the others, if to differing levels of impact. As the following examines, then, biological, sociological, and psychological theories as to crime causation are by no means mutually exclusive, and the most valid awareness of what causes criminal behavior relies on applying ... And when they fail, their failure should be a challenge to others. Earhart was legally declared dead in 1939. Earhart s entire life had a certain restless quality. By 1928, she had found a calling of sorts as a social worker in Boston who flew in her spare time. When New York publisher George Palmer Putnam asked if she wanted to be the first woman to fly the Atlantic, she agreed. June of 1928 Amelia flew from Newfoundland to Burry Port, Wales, made her an instant celebrity, although she was quick to note that she had been merely a passenger, a sack of potatoes, who kept the log. When she flew solo in the Atlantic during 1932, another first for women, she proved to the world and, more important, to herself that 1928 had not been an accident. • 14. Reaction Rate Of Lipase Enzymes are substances made of protein that help stimulate chemical reactions. One of the enzymes crucial to human health is lipase. Lipase is one of the vital digestive enzymes released mainly by the pancreas into the small intestine, to help the body process and absorb fats. Lipase is a digestive enzymethat breaks down triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol. Phenolphthalein is an indicator that is pink in alkaline solutions around pH10. When the pH drops below pH 8.3 phenolphthalein goes colorless. Here, an alkaline solution of milk, lipase and phenolphthalein will change from pink to colorless as the fat in milk is broken down to form fatty acids (and glycerol) thus reducing the pH to below 8.3. The time taken for this reaction to occur is affected by temperature. Temperate affects the reaction rate as when temperature rises, molecules have greater kinetic energy resulting in the molecules having greater energy than the activation energy, leading to greater enzyme activity. However when the temperatures become too high the enzymes start to denature leading to slower enzyme activity. Most enzymes have an optimum temperature of 37 degrees. Aim To investigate the effect that temperature has on the reaction rate of the lipase with fats in full cream milk. Hypothesis The higher the temperature the faster the lipase will react with the fats in full cream milk. Variables Independent: The temperate of the water bath Dependent: Rate of reaction between the lipase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The modern world tends to be sufficed by the major events and their results in History but no one understands that texts are just one form of expression. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spielberg s realism acts here as an evidence to the genuine war situation as history cannot be trusted through words but can only be trusted and felt through visuals. The plot of the movie is first set in a boat as forty men reach a shore and are exterminated in a matter of seconds which shows the intent to create a psychological effect on the minds of their audiences. Other monumental scenes are when Private Caparzo takes charge of a German girl from a German family in order to protect her. Scenes like these are illustrated to depict the intervensionalist side of US for a paternalistic cause similar to their control of Philippines. Spielberg s idea of risking lives of eight men for one man has overturned the idea of social Darwinism. As social Darwinism promotes the idea of survival of the fittest that same idea is applied here as, Private Ryan s survival in the war should be dependent on his fitness but instead the fitness of eight men are put on the line for his survival. However, putting our superficial analytical approach beside and using our holistic approach, its quite evident that Spielberg tries to make this war look like all American as he ignored the contributions of other nations in the D Day landing on the Omaha beach specifically. On the other hand, Spielberg s best ever can also be criticized on the basis of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Allan Bullock and S.Trombley (1999) refer worldview to a general conception of the nature of the world, particularly as containing or implying a system of value principles. What constructs such a system of value principles may vary depending on each fundamental belief. It becomes essential to know the various type of worldview as it helps us to comprehensively understand our own worldview and gain insight from others. Just as a mirror allows us to see our own face, so an alternative coherent worldview illuminates and clarifies our own worldview (Zaman, 2008). Differences in worldview are the essential foundation of differences in any system, including economic system. As Chapra (1992) said that worldview performs the same function for an economic system as the foundation does for a building: even though the supporting foundation is invariably invisible and unmentioned, it continues to play a determining role. In general, there are three major economic systems which based on completely distinct worldviews: capitalism, socialism, and Islamic economic system. Capitalism and socialism as the prevailing systems have been proven to be unsuccessful in solving economic problems comprehensively. One of the failure evidence, global financial crisis in 2008, which demonstrated reckless financing instrument and moral deficiency, provides a wider opportunity for Islamic moral economy to be perceived ... Piotrowski, Lapierre, and Linebarger (2012) focus their research on understanding the correlates of self regulatory abilities among children. The study was aimed at evaluating various demographic and parenting variables in order to isolate the correlates of self regulation. Demographic variables of interest in relation to child self regulation in the study included factors such as child age, family income, and parenting style. • 36. Nursing Shortage For The Health Care Delivery System Nursing Shortage in America In 1960, Virginia Avenel Henderson a nurse and a theorist in the same time, defined nursing, the unique function of the nurse is to assist the individual, sick or well, in the performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery (or to a peaceful death) that he would perform unaided if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge. And to do this in such a way as to help him gain independence as rapidly as possible . It is a noble function and to be fulfilled at the highest levels, it takes time, patience and the devotion. When the number of people given this care is much lower than that of people who must receive the care, then a crisis occurs. The phenomenon is acute not only in America but all around the world. Even if the nursing is considered a meaningful work, the country is facing a nursing shortagethat grows more with each passing year. Nursing shortages in America affect all parts of the health care delivery system. The nursing profession is a challenge. As a nurse, you must remember every day that you can both alleviate suffering patients by administering treatment prescribed by a doctor and by a good word and a smile. Unlike other ancient societies, however, where art would evolve and chance with new influences, the art of Ancient Egypt tends to look extremely similar for the entirety of those 300 years. The classical Egyptian style of art begins in the first dynasty, which is often considered to be ruled under King Narmer. Because of the powerful themes on both sides of the palette, the Narmer Palette has emerged as one of the most crucial pieces of artwork from early Egypt as it represents the joining of the prehistoric past of the civilization and the pharaonic dynasty that was beginning to emerge.
