A deck from Bromford Lab looking at how to introduce a disciplined approach to creativity, testing and piloting services and products within a social innovation setting. Originally presented at Google UK.
The document discusses challenges with enterprise agile transformations and proposes solutions. It notes that while having agile teams is good, true enterprise agility requires alignment across the organization. Focusing only on teams can cause problems if other areas are not adapted. True agile practices require changes at all levels from teams to portfolio. The solution involves establishing the right competencies at each level, adapting practices for scale and cadence, and addressing organizational structure, processes, and culture changes together.
This document discusses trends that are reshaping the future of HR and the need for new HR operating models. It identifies several emerging models like lean HR, professional services, just-in-time HR, and federated/decentralized models that proliferate based on an organization's business needs related to optimization, customer intimacy, and agility. Executives believe transforming operating models to be more agile and responsive is important. The document questions whether current HR models are effective given business trends and poses questions around disbanding traditional models and adopting new innovations through digital technologies.

Traditional vs Lean Portfolio Management, Agile PMO & OrganisationsBarry O'Reilly
This deck showcases how the future can look for organisations as they attempt to scale up agile and lean practices and principles across the entire organisation.
Regardless if we have entered to do project/programme/portfolio work, once onsite I find it is a great way to introduce the wider organisation to the ideas that we use to deliver and how they can support all areas and activities in the organisation.
Key concepts;
- How traditional PMO and organisation are setup
- Legacy mindset for are alive and still driving the majority of portfolio/organisation behaviours
- Comparisons of traditional and agile/lean mindsets
- Principles of agile/lean portfolio/organisation management
- Organisational structure
- Annual vs Incremental funding (Beyond Budgeting)
- Limiting Work in Progress i.e. its only matters how many projects you finish, not start.
- Managing and visualising capability
- Coping with portfolio complexity through experimentation and validated learning
- Removing the concept of projects and focusing on continuous delivery of value
- Benefits of agile/lean portfolio/organisation management
This deck was compiled using referenced materials and the support of David Joyce (@dpjoyce) and Ian Carroll (@caza_no7)
The document discusses the agile mindset, which focuses on how one thinks rather than just skills or methodology. It emphasizes embracing change, learning from failures, and adapting to changing needs. The agile mindset involves thinking with a beginner's mindset, growth mindset, and design thinking approach. It means being comfortable with ambiguity and discomfort while pursuing new ideas through testing and learning.
The document discusses the concept of leadership agility and introduces the Leadership Agility 360 assessment tool. It defines leadership agility as the ability to flexibly adapt leadership style based on the situation. The assessment measures an individual's leadership agility across four dimensions and three levels. Coaching is then used to help participants understand their agility scores, identify areas for growth, and develop plans to enhance their leadership skills and abilities. The goal is to cultivate more agile, visionary, collaborative and learning-oriented leaders who can navigate complex challenges and drive organizational transformation.
Agile is a philosophy for delivering solutions that embraces and promotes evolutionary change throughout the life-cycle of a product. Many teams and organizations have been using Agile to, deliver software more timely, increase quality, and ultimately increase customer satisfaction.

Introduction to Agile Estimation & PlanningAmaad Qureshi
Presented by Natasha Hill & Amaad Qureshi
In this session, we will be covering the techniques of estimating Epics, Features and User Stories on an Agile project and then of creating iteration and release plans from these artefacts.
Agenda
1. Why traditional estimation approaches fail
2. What makes a good Agile Estimating and Planning approach.
3. Story points vs. Ideal Days
4. Estimating product backlog items with Planning Poker
5. Iteration planning - looking ahead and estimating no more than a few week ahead.
6. Release planning - creating a longer term plan, typically looking ahead, 3-6 months
7. Q&A
Leading a large-scale agile transformation isn’t about adopting a new set of attitudes, processes, and behaviors at the team level… it’s about helping your company deliver faster to market, and developing the ability to respond to a rapidly-changing competitive landscape. First and foremost, it’s about achieving business agility. Business agility comes from people having clarity of purpose, a willingness to be held accountable, and the ability to achieve measurable outcomes. Unfortunately, almost everything in modern organizations gets in the way of teams acting with any sort of autonomy. In most companies, achieving business agility requires significant organizational change. Join @Mike Cottmeyer live from #Agile2017 during this workshop.
- Story points are an arbitrary measure used by Scrum teams to estimate the effort required to implement a user story. Teams typically use a Fibonacci sequence like 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 20, 40, 100.
- Estimating user stories allows teams to plan how many highest priority stories can be completed in a sprint and helps forecast release schedules. The whole team estimates during backlog refinement.
- Stories are estimated once they are small enough to fit in a sprint and acceptance criteria are agreed upon. Teams commonly use planning poker where each member privately assigns a story point value and the team discusses until consensus is reached.
The document discusses different mindsets and how they affect our lives and work. It describes a fixed mindset where people believe their abilities are set and can't change, versus a growth mindset where people believe their abilities can develop over time through effort. Having a growth mindset creates resilience and a love of learning. The document suggests that organizations also have mindsets and can be either fixed or growth oriented. It provides tips on assessing your own and your organization's mindset and how to cultivate a growth mindset.
"You Don't Do Agile, You Be Agile" - If you've been in Agile field for a while, you would have already heard advice to Be Agile. Agile is not a process but values and principles. Agile is a mindset. More than your processes, your behavior indicates your mindset as in, how do you handle failures, whether you focus on learning and growth, how do you handle complexity, and whether you focus to eliminate or embrace uncertainty. Kamlesh Ravlani helps us dissect the mindset, what's an Agile mindset and it's key attributes. He shares Carol Dweck's research on Growth Mindset - published in her book Mindset. Kamlesh discusses strategies and exercises to develop an Agile mindset.
The Product Owner is the keeper of the requirements. He or she provides the single source of truth for the Team regarding requirements and their planned order of implementation. The Product Owner role in an Agile product development organization requires the knowledge and skills of a product manager, business analyst, and project manager. This presentation focuses on providing easy to implement, bite-size, practices that product owners can utilize for efficiency in daily tasks.
This document discusses product validation through product discovery. It notes that 64% of software features are rarely or never used, so product discovery is important to ensure the right product is built for the right audience. Product discovery involves understanding customer needs through techniques like ideation, opportunity assessments, customer discovery, story mapping, MVP testing, prototypes, and user testing to minimize risks and learn fast. The goal is to gain evidence that the product engineers build will not be a wasted effort. Product discovery is then followed by product delivery to build and ship the product.
Frontit

Agile strategy execution framework, part 1Alan Leeds
This presentation shows how agile concepts can be combined with strategy execution best practices, resulting in a meaningful, practical and quickly deployable strategy execution framework.
This document discusses effort estimation in agile projects. It recommends estimating tasks by relative size using story points rather than absolute time values. Planning poker, where a team privately selects effort estimate cards and then discusses them, is advocated as it emphasizes relative estimation and reduces anchoring bias. Velocity, the number of points a team can complete per iteration, is key for planning and adjusting for estimation errors over time. Burn down charts also increase visibility of progress.
Most teams need to answer questions like “When will it be done? What can I get by date X?”. However, common estimation approaches often fail to give us the predictability we want, and tend to introduce bad behaviours like hard deadlines and hiding uncertainty.
In this session, I’ll show you how, step by step and with real life examples, my team uses their historical data and metrics to forecast the future and answer these questions with confidence.

The document discusses change management and the differences between change (objective facts with timelines) and transition (subjective internal experiences). It notes that transition starts with individual awareness of ending and can be supported through understanding individual behaviors when faced with change. Resistance is a natural reaction to change, and performance over time follows a pattern from unawareness to acceptance as change is implemented. An organization's approach to transformation and transition support impacts how quickly it can take advantage of changes.

The document discusses arguments around whether the Patriot Act should be repealed. It outlines perspectives from both sides of the debate. Proponents of the Patriot Act argue that it has helped fight terrorism and prosecute hundreds of terrorists, while maintaining civil liberties. Critics argue it infringes on constitutional rights like freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, and unfairly targets immigrants. Both sides cite examples to support their positions in this complex debate around national security, civil rights, and counterterrorism.
This document provides memories from 1964-1974, listing favorite TV shows like The Brady Bunch and All in the Family, fashion trends, prices for gas, cars and food from that era, important inventions like the Ford Mustang, events such as the Vietnam War and Malcolm X's death, and civil rights marches. Music bands from that time period are also mentioned.

Rationele en emotionele betrokkenheid, key to success.
College Frank Willems Quint over digitaal leiderschap, organizational change ...Frank Willems
4. Verdiepende Q&A
Ze is de auteur van The Will of the Many: How the Alterglobalisation Movement is Changing the Face of Democracy en coproducent van de globaluprisings.org filmreeks.

is

geschikt
om

• Een
waarderende
benadering
vertrekt
vanuit

is.
Dat
dient

Het
