PSYPACT- Practicing Over State Lines May 2024.pptx
Day 4
1. Day 4: Genetic Mutations
Analyze Learners
The class will consist of 20, male and female, 7th grade students. They have
various learning styles consisting of visual, kinesthetic, auditory. These
students are ethnically diverse and have little prior knowledge of genetics.
Despite a lack of mastery in the subject, the students do have a general idea
of reproduction and representative diagrams (venn diagrams, charts, ect.).
2. State Objectives
7th grade students will apply the topics covered from Days 1, 2, and 3 to
concepts involving genetic mutations through the use of video and a
research/write and open discussion activity. By the end of the day, students
will apply this knowledge to a quiz with a 83% accuracy.
3. Select/Utilize Media and Materials
Having looked over their notes from Days 1, 2, and 3, students will develop an
answer to a “Bell ringer” question, which will refresh them on the previous
days’ lessons. After the bell ringer, students will watch a Youtube video and
participate in a WebQuest activity, where they will openly discuss their
research and findings in class.
4. Require Learner Participation
Students will write notes from the video to use as a study tool for tomorrow’s
bell ringer and today’s quiz. They will use what they have learned from the
video to complete a Webquest about genetic mutation.
Students will discuss their findings from the WebQuest in class as a discussion.
5. Evaluation
Students will be evaluated based on the quality of the WebQuest and research
paper, bell ringer answer, class discussion, as well as notes they took from
the media provided for class participation.
