1. Assure for day 1
Analyze Learners- There are ten girls and twelve boys in my class of 5th graders with a total of
twenty-two students. None of my students have disabilities but they are all culturally diverse. My
5th grade students have previous knowledge in researching material and working in groups. They
know how to organize information and present it in a clear and concise manner. Most of my
students prefer to work in groups and collaborate together. My 5th graders prefer hand on
activities but they do not have trouble with assigned readings.
State Objectives- My 5th
grade students will have complete knowledge of the history of Earth
Day by the end of day 1. The class will watch a video on the significance of Earth Day and then
they will complete the smart board assignment. The class will then view two posters and answer
both prompts on the class blog. At the end of day 1, each student will view a Voki and
participate in the class discussion. By the end of the day, my class will know the history and
significance of Earth Day with 100 percent accuracy.
Select Methods, Materials, and Media- The education method of day 1 is large group
discussion followed by individual work. The students will use the class smart board to complete
the smart board assignment and the library computers to complete their individual blogs. The
students will view the Voki together on the class smart board.
Utilize Media and Materials- the video shown to the class will be previewed and the smart
board activity will be tested before the students start. The posters will be made before class
begins and their blogs on the class blog will be closely monitored. The smart board will be set up
with the Voki before the students get back to the classroom from the library. The desks will be
moved to allow the students to sit in the floor to participate in the large group discussion.
Require Learner Participation- At the beginning of the day, the class will watch a video on the
significance of Earth Day and participate and discuss the smart board assignment together. Each
student will be required to participate in the blog discussion. Each student will be expected to
participate in the class discussion after they view the Voki.
Evaluate and Revise- I will assess my class by reading their blogs. I will also take notes while
they complete the smart board assignment. They will be evaluated by their participation in the
class discussions as well.
