Theme, Themes In Stanley Yelnats Holes, By Louis Sachar
Have you ever been accused of doing something you certainly didn t do? Have you ever had that
feeling that no matter how good you are and how hard you try to not mess up things just turn out?
Have you ever felt as if you were accident prone or if it was just pure bad luck?Well that s what
Stanley Yelnats felt since that was what actually happened in the book Holes by Louis Sachar. There is
a lot to this book, such as themes, characters, and quite a few different locations. The main theme of
this story, Holes, is growing up because, in this book Stanley learns a lot; he has a lot of ambition, and
he shows a ton of responsibility for his own actions, but also for others as well, whether it will get him
into some trouble or not. Stanley learns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He takes this trait and uses it. He shows it often because in the book he learns that not all his unlucky
events are due to his no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather s curse. Stanley shows
responsibility for his own actions and at one point others actions. So, tell me Caveman, said Mr.Sir.
How did my sack of sunflower seeds get in your hole? I stole it from your trunk, Stanley answered.
(Sachar, 56)
This quote was chosen because Stanley says that he took the seed but really he was just covering to
make friends. Another example is when he tries to find Zero and attempts to steal Mr.Sir s truck. In the
moment he gets caught he realized that it was his fault that he got caught and not his no good dirty
rotten pig stealing great great grandfather s curse that had been set on the family. In conclusion this
book represents the theme of growing up because the main character shows three of the
characterististics of the theme I chose. These include learning, ambition, and responsibility. Stanley
learns a ton while at Camp Green Lake. He also shows lots of ambition and displays many forms of
responsibility. This book follows a great storyline, as well as one about how the camp used to be. The
story also includes many characters with different personalities and could display way more than just
one main

Health Economic Research Paper
What is a Health Economist?
Health economists are professionals who combine their knowledge of economics and the health care
industry to analyze how health care resource are used and distributed. They focus on ways to better
understand the health care system, improve health care policies and the quality of patient care.
Health Economics
Health economics is a new subfield of economics that analyzes various health care related topics. For
example, some health economists evaluate the long term effects of lifestyle choices on health. Others
examine the estimated costs and benefits of new or proposed health care policies. One health
economist may propose more efficient ways to provide certain health care services, while another may
seek to increase the cost effectiveness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will also learn about research ethics, economic evaluations and the principles of epidemiology.
During the last two terms, students will most likely study advanced public health statistics and
economics as well as econometrics and microeconomic evaluations.
Core Skills
After graduation, health economists will understand the critical roles that economic reasoning and cost
analyses play in forming public health care policies. Graduates will understand the interrelationships
between economics and biostatistics, epidemiology, public health and disease modeling. Based on this
knowledge, health economists produce data driven research regarding health services, systems and
interventions.
Health economists must have advanced math and computer skills because they frequently create
analytical and statistical models with complex software programs. They will use economic theories to
predict public and organizational responses to policy changes and incentives. Finally, they provide
detailed input for econometric analyses of policy changes and interpret the statistical

Separating Peace By Character In John Knowles A Separate...
Separating Peace Character By Character A Separate Peace is a novel based around a group of high
school boys in a private college preparatory school named Devon. Most of Devon s students want,
have, or search for peace throughout their time at school. Upon return from summer break, each
character searches for and discovers their peace. The words separate and peace represent a variety of
ideas in Knowles novel, especially for Gene, Phineas, and Leper. I believe author John Knowles chose
this title to imply individuals may possess their own unique peace. Each character in A Separate Peace
naturally had their own peace and each chose either to embrace their inner peace or to fight against it.
The character Leper was a quiet, odd man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That would be Gene s odd peace appearing to have the need of being top dog and having no rivalries,
and being rid of anyone he could even have an inkling of jealousy against. In the text he says, ... I
couldn t help envying him (Finny) that a little, which was perfectly normal. There was no harm in
envying even your best friend a little. This quote was when Finny did not get in trouble at the Master s
Tea for dressing against school code because he talked his way out of it. This was when the rivalry
between Gene and what he believed was Finny, but was really only one sided (Finny had no thoughts
pertaining to this) started. This is a very rare peace. I hardly ever see where someone finds peace by
envying and wanting major personal competition with their close friends. The full picture of Gene s
peace included being top dog, doing the best in school, aiming for valedictorian, and having no
opposition from anyone else. Most inward peace hinges on upbeat feelings, but Gene s character is
different. His self peace came only after he had gotten rid of the one person he was jealous of and was
completely rid of any anger or hatred. It is stated in the novel, My fury was gone, I felt it gone, dried
up at the source, withered and lifeless. Phineas had absorbed it and taken it with him, and I was rid of

Rhiannon May jumps from her seat as the voice on the other line gives her the most preeminent news

How Did Louis Pasteur Affect The Economy
Louis Pasteur also made a major impact on the agricultural industries of France s economy as well. In
the early years of the 1880s, an issue rose among the fields of farmers across the country of France.
Their cattle and sheep were suddenly dying, collapsing to the ground for what appeared as if some
sudden, unseen force was knocking them down. Farmers and cattle owners were perplexed and
worried, for they were losing money and they were losing money rapidly. Sheep and cattle were not
only resources in the clothing industries for cloth and leather but also in agriculture as a food source.
The discovery was made by another scientist that the cause of these animal s deaths was because of a
disease called anthrax. Anthrax, at the time, was seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His interest in rabies began when he eleven years old. In October of 1831, a rabid wolf ravaged
through Pasteur s town, biting and attacking anything in its way. Young Pasteur witnessed this tragic
event and never forgot the seventeen dogs and the six children that were harmed. Around fifty years
later, Pasteur s drive to find a rabies bacillus was still going strong yet throughout France is was
believed that the experiment was inevitable for failure Rabies is a viral and contagious disease. This
did not stop Pasteur s lab from making progress in their experimentation. In their first attempt, Louis
and his team attempted to make dogs immune to the effects of rabies. In doing so, they injected the
disease into different species. They noticed that as the disease was passed to each other, it gradually
weakened in its effects. Pasteur then began to inject animals with a less potent injection of rabies. The
hope was that slowly but surely, immunity would be built up within that animal. The method consisted
of approximately seven to fourteen daily injection of the live rabies virus into the animal to be
observed and analyzed over time. Out of the fifty animals that were tested on, there had been constant
successes in making them resistant to rabies. As a result of this progress and success, Pasteur decided
that it was time to begin human trials. At first, many were skeptical that Pasteur and his team s vaccine
would work. However as more and more cases occurred, and with nowhere else to go, people
requested treatment with the rabies vaccine. By October of 1886, over two thousand people had
received the vaccine. Although the vaccine was not one hundred percent successful, ninety nine
percent of individuals that were infected with rabies survived with the aid of Pasteur s vaccine.

Essay on King Tut
King Tutankhamun
Introduction
King Tutankhamun was a Pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty who ruled from1333 BC 1324 BC,
during the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom. He is the most recognized and
probably the most famous pharaoh today because of the discovery of his tomb and his treasures. King
Tut s tomb was a major discovery of the 19th century. It was a phenomenal discovery that made
headlines across the world. Up until the discovery of King Tut s tomb, it was believed that all royal
tombs had been robbed and drained of their treasure.
The Discovery Tutankhamun s tomb was discovered in the Valley of the Kings KV62 on November 4,

Technology used
There were various uses of technology used in this excavation. Carter made the hole in the upper left
hand corner and used other tools to start to chip away at the opening. Candles were used when Carter
held the candle into the darkness and permitted his eyes to adjust to the warm ancient air that exited
the tomb this air made the candle flicker. The gold furniture became illuminated by the small candle.
The next day, Callender came prepared with electric lights and those were set up inside the tomb. This
allowed the four of them to explore the tomb more freely. Cameras were used because the tomb was
eventually excavated and heavily photographed. It was largely damaged by Carter s team, when sharp
tools were used to remove his gleaming gold and blue death mask. X rays were used because
archaeologists last opened Tutankhamun s tomb in 1968, when British scientist Ronald Harrison took
a series of X rays. A radiographer was used to radiographs revealed a bone fragment in his skull,
prompting speculation that the boy pharaoh was killed by a blow to the head. Also a various of other
tools were used to excavated the area.
Careers involved
Though there are many careers that made this discovery possible Howard Carter was an English
archaeologist and Egyptologist born in Kensington England. Lord Carnarvon was a silent financial

Palestrina s Role In The Counter-Reformation
Palestrina s role in the Counter Reformation was to write music that could be used in the chapel. On
April 28, 1565 singers of the papal chapel were brought together at the home of Cardinal Vitellozzi to
test to see if words could be understood in the songs. People don t know if Palestrina s Missa Papae
Marcelli was performed there or not. But some suggestions say that it was copied in a choirbook later
on. Palestrina was involved in composing some works for the chapel and evidence increases that some
compositions that he has written and is to write is for use of the chapel. Another role that Palestrina
had in the Counter Reformation was to work on the revisions of the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual
and Antiphoner. Palestrina never completed this project ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The revisions ended up being made by Felice Anerio and Francesco Soriano. The revisions made are
what Palestrina would have. Some of the revisions that he made can be seen in some chants of the
1582 Directorum Chori. The first song, Kyrie, I have actually heard before because one of the choirs
in my high school sang it for one of there songs. The song has a very nice flow to it and seems like a
song that is sung in a church somewhere. I looked up what the word Kyrie means and found from
dictionary.com that it means, Lord, have mercy .(SDFAS) The second song ,Gloria, was also a very
smooth flowing song. With all of the different parts in it, it makes it sound very good. Palestrina did
very well on both of the pieces. Palestrina had a couple of roles in the Counter Reformation. One was
to write music that could be used in the chapel. Another one was he had to work on the revisions of
the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual and Antiphoner. Listening to two of Palestrina s works was very
neat. After hearing Kyrie on here from what i heard from my choir in high school was neat to hear the
differences. Palestrina did very well on both pieces that I listened

How Is Language Used In Her First Ball
Katherine Mansfield s short story Her First Ball introduces us to Leila, a country girl on her way to
her first ball with her cousins, the Sheridan sisters. A range of language features convey Leila s
attitude of naive and excitement as the ball begins, and her transition to a young woman who is more
socially experienced and mature by the end of the story. The story conveys the message that loss of
innocence and youthful fantasy is an inevitable and vital part of the transition from adolescence to
adulthood. At the beginning of the story, Leila s attitude towards the ball is one of exuberance as she
has ever experienced anything like it before. Mansfield uses expressive language features such as
similes, personification and metaphors to emphasize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mansfield uses lighter, brighter colours to portray Leila s adolescent fantasies surrounding the ball and
darker, more muted colours to portray the fat man s realist views. Before her encounter with the fat
man Leila notices more of her surroundings and the bright colours of the hall such as gazing at the
gleaming, golden floor, the azaleas, the lanterns, the stage at one end with its red carpet and gilt chairs
and the band in a corner, she thought breathlessly, How heavenly; how simply heavenly! this shows us
how excited Leila is for the ball through how carefully she observes her surroundings as she enters the
hall. Mansfield also uses white and pink symbols of youth such as Darling little pink and silver
programmes, with pink pencils and fluffy tassels. , smoothing marble white gloves and Laura s pink
velvet cloak which show us how light colours symbolise Leila s youthful innocence while the quotes
long before that you ll be sitting up there on the stage, looking on, in your nice black velvet , and the
chaperones in dark dresses and and you ll beat time with such a different kind of fan a black bony one
which show us how darker colours symbolise the fat man s pessimistic maturity. The use of colour in
the text relates to the real life psychological connections with humans, for example, we relate white
and pink with young girls and black with pessimism similarly to the way Katherine Mansfield uses
colour in the

which was warm and foggy from the constant rolls of the ocean waves. The clear, sunny, Barry

Political Correctness in Oleanna Essay
Re read Act 2 from page 43 (JOHN and CAROL seated across the desk from each other.) to page 48
(CAROL: It s ludicrous... ?). Examine how Mamet presents political correctness in this extract and
elsewhere in the play.
Political correctness features prominently within the play. Political correctness was seen as a highly
controversial issue in the late 1980s to the early 1990s and was argued within a 1992 essay collection,
debating political correctness, that it was The most important discussion in American education . This
was perhaps due to the numerous amounts of opinions on whether or not political correctness was

However, this does contrast to Mamet s view as he said about John and Carol that he thinks they re
both absolutely wrong, and they re both absolutely right . The idea of elitists always getting their own
way links to later on in the play, when John uses the expletives, bitch and cunt . It is suggested that
John is perhaps mocking Carol by using the expletives, as he is being politically incorrect. While
Carol tries to enforce political correctness, John dismisses it due to the hubris that he holds, which in
Greek Mythology, excessive arrogance was called hubris.
In the extract, it appears that John recognises the mistakes that he has made. However, he makes no
effort to change his ways, possibly due to the lack of control that he has over himself and his lack of
ability to change his ways, I don t mean to subject you to my weak sensibilities It doesn t seem to be
an apology from John, and therefore just a passing statement. This again reinforces his lack of willing,
to change. This links back to Act one, when John s use of declaratives and pronouns portrays his
confidence and control over Carol, Let s take the mysticism out of it, shall we? Carol? Don t you
think? . This lack of conforming to political correctness links to a speech that president George Bush
gave in 1991, where he spoke out against a movement which would declare certain topics off limits .
In the extract, John also comments, I find that I am sexist.

Support For Marijuana Legalization Against First Age
Methodology In conducting my research, I utilized data from the 2012 National Election Survey,
which includes data vital to my research. NES2012 data produced information regarding both levels of
support for the legalization of marijuana as well as three separate age categories (1) 17 39 (2) 40 59
and (3) 60 older. It is worth noting that since the data was collected in 2012 opinions have been bound
to shift, specifically in states which have seen statewide recreational legalization, however for the
function of the research, the given data produces ample information and analysis which will facilitate
with rejection or acceptance of the working hypothesis. Throughout the duration of the research
multiple tests were utilized, including a Chi Square test, which analyzed levels of support for
marijuana legalization against first age as the independent variable and the against level of education
as a control variable. The first test in which only the independent and dependent variable are
accounted for contains 5397 respondents, for which a total of 2103 respondents favor legalization
compared to the 1929 whom oppose legalization. When the control variable is accounted for, 5355
total respondents are surveyed, 2085 of which favor legalization compared to the 1911 that oppose
legalization. Considering that the variables being tested are categorical in nature, the cross tabulations
examination coupled with utilization of the Chi square component appears most necessary. The null

The And The Population Of Guyana
In 1964, Burnham succeeded Jagan as prime minister, a position he retained after the country gained
full independence on May 26, 1966. With independence, the country returned to its traditional name,
Guyana. The population of Guyana was estimated to be 768252 people. This is an increase of 0.36%

percent Indians; 35 percent Africans; 7 percent mixed race peoples; and 6.8 percent Amerindians.
Indians are of the following religions: Hindu, 65 percent; Muslim, 20 percent; and Christian, 15

Indians, steeped in ancient notions of caste, brought rigid ideals of color and physical features to their
judgment of African people, although most Indian immigrants were themselves dark. Africans and
Indians thus constructed distinct identities. Ethnic relations since independence in 1966 have been

Safe Schools Oral Paragraphs
Safe Schools Oral Sample Paragraphs
I want you to imagine being 12 years old. You came to school one day and saw your name scrawled
all over the school toilet doors, accompanied by the terms faggot, gay and disgusting . I want you now
to stand in the shoes of Jake, an 11 year old transgender boy. You are currently being racially slurred,
beaten up and spat on by your mates , who discovered you were a tranny. I want you to stand on Ben s
point of view. And think, what if your coach kicked you out of your football team simply because you
weren t masculine enough for the sport? Finally, I want you to become Jane, a 13 year old born
transgender and because of this you are bullied every single day, from the moment you walk into the
school gates, everybody stares, like you are some sort of alien. Jane Marie Georgia a bright, cheery
7th grader, who just like you and me had a loving family and a favourite icecream flavour, committed
suicide on Thursday the 25th of May 2017, a day that couldn t be more ordinary for each and every
one of us sitting here. But for LGBTI students, every single day is filled to the brim with inequality
and danger.
Ladies and Gentlemen, over a tenth of our society is made up of the LGBTI ( the Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) community. In 2010, the Safe Schools Coalition Australia was
founded, this establishment brought hope and protection to hundreds upon thousands of students
experiencing bullying. However, being the nation we are, extreme right wing bigots are attempting to
withdraw this life saving initiative from nationwide primary and secondary schools.
I ask you, how is the sexuality of LGBTI children any different to our diversity in hair colour ? (is this
a good example)? In Australia, we are proud of our individuality and celebrate our differences. So,
why is something so valuable, so integral to our society used an excuse for the discrimination and
degradation of others? Why is it that right wing bigots and conservative MP s are starving vulnerable
children of protection and safety?
Our opposition complains relentlessly about how the safe schools approach is controversial and
ideological, accusing the initiative of promoting a radical view of gender

Descartes The Cartesian Method Of Doubt
The Cartesian method of doubt is a process in which one systematically considers all things purported
to be true and attempts to find a scenario in which they may be untrue. In Descartes own words, the
purpose of this method is to demolish everything completely and start again right from the foundations
. Indeed, by annihilating all which may be considered untrue, Descartes wishes to reconstruct reality
based only principles which are unconditionally true. I believe that Descartes is correct in his
methodology and successful in his attempts to demolish everything dubitable and start again from the
foundations. In support to Descartes method of doubt, I will consider the dreaming argument. In
opposition to Descartes method of doubt, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As previously stated, the purpose of the Cartesian method of doubt is to systematically doubt
everything which cannot be understood to be true with absolute certainty. Before we begin, we must
be clear on the definition of doubt from a Cartesian perspective, specifically, the distinction between
belief defeating doubts and justification defeating doubts . The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
explains the difference as follows [there are] two kinds of doubt, in terms of two kinds of ways that
doubt can defeat knowledge. Some doubts purport to undermine one s conviction or belief call these
belief defeating doubts . Other doubts purport to undermine one s justification (whether or not they
undermine belief) call these justification defeating doubts . Descartes method of doubt requires
justification defeating doubts, which means the justification for the belief in question is dubitable, not
necessarily the belief itself. This distinction is important when examining the method of doubt, but
even with this justification defeating requirement of dubitability in mind, it does feel as if the method
is asking a bit much. Descartes is essentially asking the reader to doubt every

2.1 Professor Ian Webster, chair of the Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation, said the
number of young people putting themselves at risk of alcohol related harm was troubling given the
impact of alcohol on brain development.
Separate figures from the Bureau of Statistics reveal consumption of pre mixed alcoholic drinks has
leapt by 15% in the past year. The figures show that 60% of female drinkers aged between 15 and 17
reported drinking a pre mixed drink, compared to 14% in 2000, suggesting the sweet and fizzy mixes
are increasingly introducing young people to alcohol.
The foundation survey also underlines the rise of alcohol related violence, with more than a quarter of
respondents having been verbally abused by someone under the influence of alcohol, and almost one
in 20 having been physically abused by a drunk person.
The survey of 23,000 people found the proportion of the general population drinking alcohol daily fell
slightly and the number of people abstaining from alcohol climbed from 9.3% to 10.1%.
The alcohol industry seized on the survey to suggest that alcohol abuse was not getting worse. Stephen

manufacturers, said the study showed Australians were moderating their alcohol

Satire In Langston Hughes Green Memory
The poem Green Memory by Langston Hughes ridicules World War II. This poem was written in 1951
with the point of view of an African American during the war era. The poet uses many literary
techniques, but the main one is satire, which suits the purpose of this poem well because it shows how
the war causes many problems in an ironic way. Langston Hughes uses satire to ridicule the war, and
he uses irony and a serious tone to support his satire and to show what was happening with humanity
during the war era.
The poem has a more serious tone which shows how serious this matter is and is shown with the use
of irony. Satire is used to ridicule something and sometimes has humour in it, but can be sarcastic at
times, which is where irony and the serious tone come in. Langston Hughes uses sarcasm and it seems
like he is mocking the war. A wonderful time the War. (1). He starts off the poem by saying that the
war is wonderful, but as the poem goes on, it becomes more sarcastic. It mentions how blood is far
away and money is near, which is the opposite of what you would expect during war and it shows that
he is mocking the war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jim Crow intact back home. Usually when people come back from war, they are highly praised and

Salmonella symptoms are diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps from 12 to 72 hours after being

who are infected bowel habits takes several months before it returns to normal. Also, a few people

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pit Mining
Extraction:
Mining involves digging, blasting, hauling rock, exploring, extracting and refining.
It is a high tech industry.
There are three ways minerals are mined,
I. Open pit mining
Referred as a surface mining technique of extracting rock or minerals from the Earth.
It is used when deposits of commercially useful minerals or rocks are found near the surface.
Metal ores (unpurified metal) are extracted through open pit mining if they are near the surface.
In open pit mining overburden is removed.
Holes are drilled 10 to 15 meters deep and filled with explosives. The rock is blasted apart.
Ore is loaded into large trucks (which may carry 90 to 250 tonnes) by huge shovels.

Effect on the Environment:
Sometimes there is low forest degradation and sometime sudden and catastrophic clear cutting for
mining.
Deforestation affects the amount of water in soil and moisture in atmosphere.
When there are no trees to keep soil in place, there are more chances of soil erosion.
Heavy rainfall washes soil into rivers.
Essential nutrients are washed out of the soil which results in insufficient growth of new plants.
Deforestation also contributes to decreased transpiration, which lessens cloud formation. This
ultimately reduces the sources of rain.
Forests extract CO2 and pollutants from the air, thus contributing to biosphere sustainability.
When mining happens a lot of waste is dumped which pollutes the land that decreases sustainability.
Mining involves the use of explosives in a large amount and drilling, when explosives are used a lot of
harmful chemicals such as NO2, CO2 and sulphur are released in to the atmosphere which increases
global warming.
Sulphide chemical is the result of acid rain.
Coal is used as a source of energy when mining, when coal is burnt it releases coal ashes in to the
atmosphere that contain heavy chemicals such as mercury, arsenic and

The Economic Crisis Of The G20
The economic crisis has brought about a transformation in international organization, signaling a
break with the established system of foundation for managing world liaison. While at the first of the
crisis, measures taken appeared ad hoc or temporary, the decision at the Pittsburgh Elevation in
September 20 09 to institutionalize the Chemical group of 20 leaders summit reflects a marked shift in
the locus of leadership. New players, new meeting place and new issues have moved to the center of
global decision making. Over the course of its first class, the G20 has delivered in response to global
economic challenges, at least in a declaratory fashion. However, as we move towards a billet crisis
environment, the G20 s follow on year will bring new challenges. In the lead up to the two 2010 top

crisis response, and propel the common sense of collective enterprisingness into solidified venture

its dual world first as a forum of ministers and then as a leaders summit the G20 has shown itself
capable of robust natural action. Rather than sticking to a set convention, when the global financial

I would not choose solar energy for my city for many reasons. Solar panels still gives off pollution
produced as a result of manufacturing, transportation, and installation. The production of energy is
rather noisy from the use of fuels. Solar energy can only be used during daylight hours. Bad weather
can decrease the efficiency of solar energy. Modern solar panels are only around 20% efficient. The
initial investment of solar cells is extremely high. Solar energy has too many cons to be the best
possible source of energy.
Coal is also a very destructive source of energy, and is definitely not the supreme source. Coal is a non

As mentioned earlier, self regulation is so intimately related to crime that it could be said that
antisocial behavior begins where self regulation ends (Delisi, 2013). Another fact to consider is the
fact that most behavior is learned and/or imitated to include criminal behavior and thought processes
behind criminality are also a learned process. I think that the link is how that biological factor has
been addressed and treated before that person commits crime, in other words besides the biological
issue one has to take into account how and what has happened in that persons past along with taking
into account that persons environment in which he/she was raised in which may or may not have
failed to influenced him/her positively.
Finally, the impairments in personality functioning must be relatively stable across time and situations,
cannot be better understood as developmentally or culturally normative, and cannot be solely due to
the direct physiological effects of a substance or medical condition (Lynam, amp; Vachon, 2012).
Again biological factors alone cannot be the sole reason crime exists or the cause of crime within a
human.
In the ABC video The Brain and Violence: Secrets of Your Mind they highlighted Doctor James
Fallon who studies the neurological factors and genetic factors that are commonly found in serial

Target Population
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community does not just represent one specific
group or individual, LGBT represents every race, religion, ethnicity, and social class. I would not say
that the attributes that cause the such a high increase in suicide attempts and successful suicides as a
unique quality. More like, they are a vulnerabilities that make individuals feel as if they do not belong.
People in the LGBT community feel out of place, not accepted, the community has an anti gay stigma,
harassed, discriminated against and little to no family or community support (Health People 2020,
2017). The rise in campus resources such as information on depression, suicide and STD s can related
to these vulnerabilities because the LGBT community is silently calling for help. They are
experiencing some type of trouble, some group on campus, other individuals or just the community is
not welcoming to them. The campus might not have very strict laws against bullying, which is not
effectively protecting its students. The students in who identify as LGBT might not feel like the school
has effective programs for them, or that the campus health is o a save nonjudgmental place for them. I
do believe that the LGBT community can be divided into sections. The different L G B T can each be
spilt up into different sections. Since each group faces their own problem, for example, Lesbians only
like women, so they will utilize different resources then say

Underserved Personal Statement
Providing legal services to underserved communities can be both challenging and rewarding. I
anticipate such a career after graduating from law school. My upbringing and experiences influence
my desire to serve rural areas with limited access to legal services.
Growing up in the small town of Pocahontas, Iowa gives appreciation to the simplicity of tight knit
communities. With a population of 1,800 people, there is single café where local farmers enjoy a
morning cup of coffee while discussing the news. Rural communities are a place where children have
birthday parties at the local pizza place and teenagers first jobs are as detasslers. As a child, your
mother knows if you got in trouble at school before you return home and everyone s name is well
known throughout the area.
Similar to many young people, I dreamed of leaving town and creating a big name for myself. After

Abstract
This research paper will examine the concepts of psychopathology, or abnormal psychology and how
it deals with a various set of symptoms or behaviors that manifested by functional impairments in a
person s life. Psychological disorders (e.g. Major Depressive Disorder) and the causes of abnormal
behaviour have been understood by a various different theories and have been documented throughout
historical transformations. Additionally, this research illustrates the Causes of the Depression, ... Show

In just one theory, Burton believed that melancholy could be prevented with a sufficient sleep, music,
healthy diet, and consequential work , as well as having a balanced social life with friends and family.
Moreover, in the period of 18th century, the theory of melancholia, which is linked to a Major
Depressive Disorder, had become progressively more challenged by electrical and mechanical
explanations; whereby, if a person exhibited a gloomy and dark state of mind it was also proved that
the person gave way to a depleted state of energy loss (Girdlera Klatzkinb, 2007). The term depression
was derived from a Latin verb deprimere, to press down. Dated as far back to the 14th century, the
term to depress meant to bring down in spirits or to conquer (AllDisease.org, 2011). Even though
melancholia continued to be the leading diagnostic expression, depression increased its frequency (its
usage of name) in the medical field and was a synonym by the end of its century. The DSM I (1952)
(as cited in Girdlera Klatzkinb, 2007) refers to depressive reaction and the DSM II (1968) (as cited in
Girdlera Klatzkinb, 2007) depressive neurosis, as words that define an extreme reaction to an
identifiable conflict or an internal circumstance (DSM, 2000).
Causes of the Depression It appears that psychological, social, and biological factors will all play a
role into the various degrees that cause depression. Many theorists believe that the depression

Martin Luther King And The Civil Rights Movement
Martin Luther King remains one of the most controversial historical figures of the 20th century.
Historians and modern politicians alike, challenge his contributions to the Civil Rights Movement and
the legitimacy of his leadership. While King is traditionally presented as a leader of the movement,
Ella Baker, an African American Civil Rights activists, questions this convention and claims the [Civil
Rights] movement made Martin. Furthermore, often portrayed as the decisive factor of social change,
King s leadership and significance in the Civil Rights Movement is largely overemphasized and his
exaggerated historical importance, detracts from the myriad of social factors and local movements that
propelled social change. Although Martin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the true start of the Civil Rights Movement began with the Emmett Till Case, as it was a
tipping point for the Civil Rights movement and revealed the discrimination that oppressed African
American. Media was a medium in which African Americans can expose the evil and oppression of
racial discrimination in America, and the media was to which King owed much of his social influence
and publicity.
Martin Luther king played a central role in mobilising African American Communities for national
activism through his leadership in religious communities and activism such as the National Council of
Churches and the Montgomery Improvement Association; however, his leadership in the movement
was largely shaped by local grassroot movements, which played far greater roles in national protest
and activism as demonstrated by Nashville sit ins and boycotts. Similarly to the events in
Montgomery, the Nashville Sit ins were led primarily by students and local activists. The grassroots
leaders and students who founded the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee acted upon their
own initiative, and although the movement often called upon King s leadership and oratory skills, the
movement was primarily guided by self reliant grassroots leaders. Furthermore, the students had other
sources of tactical and ideological inspiration such as Rosa parks and E.D. Nixon. King used

What are the differences between global human rights regimes and regional human rights regimes?
Include one example of a regional human rights regime (write at least 1 page double spaced)(5 points)
The most notable example of a global human rights regime is the United Nations, and an example of
regional human rights would be the OAS ( Organization of American States). Both entities have
focuses that are quite similar and intersecting. The main goal of the UN is displayed in article 1 of the
UN Charter which states to maintain international peace and security . Primary concerns of the UN are
security, humanitarian assistance, development, and human rights which is recognized in the Universal
Declaration of Rights by the UN. However, before there was the UN declaration there was the
American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man .
Despite the similarities both institutions possess there are differences that are apparent in the utilitarian
function of each. The UN has a universal influence and system of play, and the OAS plays a smaller
role looking over only its specific geographical region of the Americas. While both aim to influence
policy and the promotion of human rights there are advantages that come with their differences. The
UN has criticized the need for regional institutions like the OAS where they believe the OAS role or
goals overlap with those of their own. However, the OAS

Socioeconomic Status And Quality Of Education
In an ideal world, socioeconomic status would not affect the quality of education one would receive.
Everyone would have the same opportunities to do well in life and rise up the social ladder. Durkheim
(1893) asserted that with universally great public education, economic opportunities would be
relatively equal. Even with equal education levels, there would still exist some inequality in the form
of legitimate inequality (Durkheim 1893), but the excellent public education would level the playing
field, so to speak. However, our world is not an ideal world. We live in a society where money talks
and how rich a person is determines the caliber of their educational background. Research has shown
that a child from a high income family will have a better life chance and that a child from a low
income family has less of a chance to move up the ranks. In my paper, I will argue that there is a
correlation between socioeconomic status and quality of education in that the higher socioeconomic
status a person has, the better education opportunities they will be able to obtain.
Statistically data from Piedmont, CA and East Oakland, CA demonstrates the idea that educational
quality and opportunities is closely related to socioeconomic status. Piedmont, CA is a wealthy city
surrounded by Oakland, a not so well off area. To clarify, the median household income of Piedmont
is $207,222 while East Oakland s median household income is $56,944 (US Census 2013). There is an

How Controllable Is Nuclear Fission
How controllable is nuclear fission?
In the operation of a nuclear reactor, fuel assemblies are put into place and then the control rods are
slowly lifted until a chain reaction can just be sustained. As the reaction proceeds, the number of
uranium 235 nuclei decreases and fission by products which absorb neutrons build up.
How controllable is nuclear fusion?
The fission of uranium can set up a chain reaction that will keep on releasing energy as long as there
are uranium nuclei present. If this chain reaction is allowed to get out of control, energy is released
very quickly and the result is a nuclear bomb. Nuclear power stations are designed to keep chain
reactions under control.
What are Control rods?

The Sustainability Of Pratt Whitney Canada
In order to compete effectively in the current global economy, modern companies need to successfully
address three competitive challenges: technological, global and sustainability. Human resource
management practices play an important role in supporting companies to address these competitive
challenges. The focus of this paper is to analyze the current sustainability of Pratt Whitney Canada,
and to determine which human resource management practices enhance their competitive advantage
both presently and in the future. Pratt Whitney Canada (PWC) is an aircraft engine manufacturer with
global service operations and is a subsidiary of the American company United Technologies
Corporation (UTC). While many business segments utilize PWC engines, the two primary sectors
include civil and military aviation. With a workforce of approximately 9,000 employees across seven
Canadian plants, PWC has produced over 80,000 engines to date (PWC New Hire, 2014). The impact
of PWC s corporate presence on Canada s economy is reflected in the fact that it contributes, on
average, over $2 billion per year to the country s gross domestic product (PWC Economic Impact,
2014). PWC prides itself in being a leader among leaders where, [m]ore than 10,000 aircraft operators

Children s Child Entitlement, Dependency...
Many parents always want a better life for their children than what they had. They always try to keep
them as happy as can be and make sure the children have everything that they need and want. Most
parents want to keep their children happy, and associating them with toys and the things that they want
equates to happiness. Some children may deserve some of what is given to them, but other children
may be given everything that they want. Busy parents, or parents who are not home a lot, feel that
since they do not spend the time with their children that they must shower them in gifts. While
although those things may be nice, the parents are potentially hurting their children in the long run.
Spoiling children can lead to child entitlement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of behavior leads to the idea of entitlement with children and teenagers. They already have it
in their heads that they need this or want that, but as soon as the parents give in, they know that they
can get away with it. Amy McCready, who partners with Kids R Kids for the expert parenting advice
series states that, the two biggest culprits for the entitlement epidemic are over indulging and
pampering. The child or teen gets what they want and have no gratitude or appreciation towards their
parents. At a young age, children automatically depend on their parents. When they are babies and
toddlers, they cannot do the things to maintain themselves. When a child or teen is spoiled, they rely
on their parents to help them out whenever they are in need. There are cases in which the parent loves
the idea that the child needs them, and doesn t give the child any type of responsibility. They do
everything that the child asks or wants them to do just to keep them happy. This can lead to
unmotivated children, since they know that their parents will do it themselves. Parents give their
children a little money here and there, so now they believe that they do not need to work for it. In
depend people, they cannot do anything on their own; they always require someone else to be there.
Researchers Connie Dawson and David J. Bredehoft cite a study showing that young college students
who were spoiled as children, tended to believe that being alone makes

Informal Texting
1) I believe that, yes, text messages are a hindrance to formal writing and can make students less
likely to perform optimally in a formal writing assessment due to the amount of abbreviations
commonly used. Since texting is usually seen as informal, when texting, people generally speak
utilizing slang, initialisms, acronyms, abbreviations and malapropisms. This, in turn, makes them
accustomed to this informal way of writing and therefore hurts their ability to write in a formal
manner, as it also strips them of their focus when writing.
2) No, because it would spit in the face of the very name, Formal Writing . Formal writing should be

Essay On Gun Violence
Everyday 93 Americans are killed by guns. Whether it is due to homicide or suicide, it does not
matter. At the end of the day gun violence is increasing exponentially. In numerous states, gun laws
have been placed in the hopes of reducing gun violence. But now many people believe that gun
violence should be treated as a public health problem. I for one feel that gun violence should be put in
the category of public health. Every year more than 30,000 people are victims to gun related incidents.
It has become such an issue that gun violence is causing more deaths than some life threatening
diseases. Well first off, I obviously feel that gun violence is a public health issue. The reason for that is
because at this point it is considered a Health Crisis (or Public Health Crisis). This means a difficult
situation or complex health system that affects humans in one or more geographic areas from a
particular locality to encompass the entire planet. It is considered that because now the amount of
people affected by gun violence is so high that guns are ahead of HIV, Parkinson s, Malnutrition,
Anemia, Viral Hepatitis, and much more for cause of deaths. Yet the funding for research for gun
violence is very low compared to the other leading causes of deaths in the United States. Question:
Should gun violence be treated as a public health problem ? Every year in the united states more than
30,000 people die from gun violence. Researchers say that gun violence is getting out of

  • 2. Theme, Themes In Stanley Yelnats Holes, By Louis Sachar Have you ever been accused of doing something you certainly didn t do? Have you ever had that feeling that no matter how good you are and how hard you try to not mess up things just turn out? Have you ever felt as if you were accident prone or if it was just pure bad luck?Well that s what Stanley Yelnats felt since that was what actually happened in the book Holes by Louis Sachar. There is a lot to this book, such as themes, characters, and quite a few different locations. The main theme of this story, Holes, is growing up because, in this book Stanley learns a lot; he has a lot of ambition, and he shows a ton of responsibility for his own actions, but also for others as well, whether it will get him into some trouble or not. Stanley learns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He takes this trait and uses it. He shows it often because in the book he learns that not all his unlucky events are due to his no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather s curse. Stanley shows responsibility for his own actions and at one point others actions. So, tell me Caveman, said Mr.Sir. How did my sack of sunflower seeds get in your hole? I stole it from your trunk, Stanley answered. (Sachar, 56) This quote was chosen because Stanley says that he took the seed but really he was just covering to make friends. Another example is when he tries to find Zero and attempts to steal Mr.Sir s truck. In the moment he gets caught he realized that it was his fault that he got caught and not his no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather s curse that had been set on the family. In conclusion this book represents the theme of growing up because the main character shows three of the characterististics of the theme I chose. These include learning, ambition, and responsibility. Stanley learns a ton while at Camp Green Lake. He also shows lots of ambition and displays many forms of responsibility. This book follows a great storyline, as well as one about how the camp used to be. The story also includes many characters with different personalities and could display way more than just one main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Health economists are professionals who combine their knowledge of economics and the health care industry to analyze how health care resource are used and distributed. They focus on ways to better understand the health care system, improve health care policies and the quality of patient care. Health Economics Health economics is a new subfield of economics that analyzes various health care related topics. • 4. Separating Peace By Character In John Knowles A Separate... Separating Peace Character By Character A Separate Peace is a novel based around a group of high school boys in a private college preparatory school named Devon. Most of Devon s students want, have, or search for peace throughout their time at school. Upon return from summer break, each character searches for and discovers their peace. The words separate and peace represent a variety of ideas in Knowles novel, especially for Gene, Phineas, and Leper. I believe author John Knowles chose this title to imply individuals may possess their own unique peace. Each character in A Separate Peace naturally had their own peace and each chose either to embrace their inner peace or to fight against it. The character Leper was a quiet, odd man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That would be Gene s odd peace appearing to have the need of being top dog and having no rivalries, and being rid of anyone he could even have an inkling of jealousy against. In the text he says, ... I couldn t help envying him (Finny) that a little, which was perfectly normal. There was no harm in envying even your best friend a little. This quote was when Finny did not get in trouble at the Master s Tea for dressing against school code because he talked his way out of it. This was when the rivalry between Gene and what he believed was Finny, but was really only one sided (Finny had no thoughts pertaining to this) started. This is a very rare peace. I hardly ever see where someone finds peace by envying and wanting major personal competition with their close friends. The full picture of Gene s peace included being top dog, doing the best in school, aiming for valedictorian, and having no opposition from anyone else. Most inward peace hinges on upbeat feelings, but Gene s character is different. His self peace came only after he had gotten rid of the one person he was jealous of and was completely rid of any anger or hatred. It is stated in the novel, My fury was gone, I felt it gone, dried up at the source, withered and lifeless. Phineas had absorbed it and taken it with him, and I was rid of it ... • 6. How Did Louis Pasteur Affect The Economy Louis Pasteur also made a major impact on the agricultural industries of France s economy as well. In the early years of the 1880s, an issue rose among the fields of farmers across the country of France. Their cattle and sheep were suddenly dying, collapsing to the ground for what appeared as if some sudden, unseen force was knocking them down. Farmers and cattle owners were perplexed and worried, for they were losing money and they were losing money rapidly. Sheep and cattle were not only resources in the clothing industries for cloth and leather but also in agriculture as a food source. In October of 1831, a rabid wolf ravaged through Pasteur s town, biting and attacking anything in its way. Young Pasteur witnessed this tragic event and never forgot the seventeen dogs and the six children that were harmed. Around fifty years later, Pasteur s drive to find a rabies bacillus was still going strong yet throughout France is was believed that the experiment was inevitable for failure Rabies is a viral and contagious disease. This did not stop Pasteur s lab from making progress in their experimentation. In their first attempt, Louis and his team attempted to make dogs immune to the effects of rabies. In doing so, they injected the disease into different species. They noticed that as the disease was passed to each other, it gradually weakened in its effects. Pasteur then began to inject animals with a less potent injection of rabies. The hope was that slowly but surely, immunity would be built up within that animal. The method consisted of approximately seven to fourteen daily injection of the live rabies virus into the animal to be observed and analyzed over time. Out of the fifty animals that were tested on, there had been constant successes in making them resistant to rabies. As a result of this progress and success, Pasteur decided that it was time to begin human trials. At first, many were skeptical that Pasteur and his team s vaccine would work. However as more and more cases occurred, and with nowhere else to go, people requested treatment with the rabies vaccine. By October of 1886, over two thousand people had received the vaccine. Although the vaccine was not one hundred percent successful, ninety nine percent of individuals that were infected with rabies survived with the aid of Pasteur s vaccine. Through ... • 10. Palestrina s Role In The Counter-Reformation Palestrina s role in the Counter Reformation was to write music that could be used in the chapel. On April 28, 1565 singers of the papal chapel were brought together at the home of Cardinal Vitellozzi to test to see if words could be understood in the songs. People don t know if Palestrina s Missa Papae Marcelli was performed there or not. But some suggestions say that it was copied in a choirbook later on. Palestrina was involved in composing some works for the chapel and evidence increases that some compositions that he has written and is to write is for use of the chapel. Another role that Palestrina had in the Counter Reformation was to work on the revisions of the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual and Antiphoner. Palestrina never completed this project ... Some of the revisions that he made can be seen in some chants of the 1582 Directorum Chori. The song has a very nice flow to it and seems like a song that is sung in a church somewhere. I looked up what the word Kyrie means and found from dictionary.com that it means, Lord, have mercy .(SDFAS) The second song ,Gloria, was also a very smooth flowing song. With all of the different parts in it, it makes it sound very good. Palestrina did very well on both of the pieces. Palestrina had a couple of roles in the Counter Reformation. One was to write music that could be used in the chapel. Another one was he had to work on the revisions of the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual and Antiphoner. A range of language features convey Leila s attitude of naive and excitement as the ball begins, and her transition to a young woman who is more socially experienced and mature by the end of the story. The story conveys the message that loss of innocence and youthful fantasy is an inevitable and vital part of the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Family Law Summary of the family class on the basis of their relationship as the spouse, common law partner, child, parent or other prescribed family member of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (s. 12 (1)). Miranda Smith has a spousal relationship with Timothy, who is a Canadian Citizen. Moreover, Esther is Timothy s daughter. Furthermore, the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations also explains the circumstances that need to be in place in order for a foreign national to fall under the family class. Miranda would fall under section 171(1)(a), which states, A foreign national is a member of the family class if, with respect to a sponsor, the foreign national is the sponsor s spouse, common law partner or conjugal partner. The Immigration and Refugee Protections Regulations also state that, A foreign national is a member of the family class if, with respect to a sponsor, the foreign national is a dependent child of the sponsor (s. 171(1)(d)). Examine how Mamet presents political correctness in this extract and elsewhere in the play. Political correctness features prominently within the play. Political correctness was seen as a highly controversial issue in the late 1980s to the early 1990s and was argued within a 1992 essay collection, debating political correctness, that it was The most important discussion in American education . This was perhaps due to the numerous amounts of opinions on whether or not political correctness was right. However, this does contrast to Mamet s view as he said about John and Carol that he thinks they re both absolutely wrong, and they re both absolutely right . The idea of elitists always getting their own way links to later on in the play, when John uses the expletives, bitch and cunt . It is suggested that John is perhaps mocking Carol by using the expletives, as he is being politically incorrect. While Carol tries to enforce political correctness, John dismisses it due to the hubris that he holds, which in Greek Mythology, excessive arrogance was called hubris. In the extract, it appears that John recognises the mistakes that he has made. However, he makes no effort to change his ways, possibly due to the lack of control that he has over himself and his lack of ability to change his ways, I don t mean to subject you to my weak sensibilities It doesn t seem to be an apology from John, and therefore just a passing statement. This again reinforces his lack of willing, to change. This links back to Act one, when John s use of declaratives and pronouns portrays his confidence and control over Carol, Let s take the mysticism out of it, shall we? Carol? Don t you think? . This lack of conforming to political correctness links to a speech that president George Bush gave in 1991, where he spoke out against a movement which would declare certain topics off limits . In the extract, John also comments, I find that I am sexist. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

NES2012 data produced information regarding both levels of support for the legalization of marijuana as well as three separate age categories (1) 17 39 (2) 40 59 and (3) 60 older. It is worth noting that since the data was collected in 2012 opinions have been bound to shift, specifically in states which have seen statewide recreational legalization, however for the function of the research, the given data produces ample information and analysis which will facilitate with rejection or acceptance of the working hypothesis. Throughout the duration of the research multiple tests were utilized, including a Chi Square test, which analyzed levels of support for marijuana legalization against first age as the independent variable and the against level of education as a control variable. The first test in which only the independent and dependent variable are accounted for contains 5397 respondents, for which a total of 2103 respondents favor legalization compared to the 1929 whom oppose legalization. When the control variable is accounted for, 5355 total respondents are surveyed, 2085 of which favor legalization compared to the 1911 that oppose legalization. Considering that the variables being tested are categorical in nature, the cross tabulations examination coupled with utilization of the Chi square component appears most necessary. The null ... I want you to stand on Ben s point of view. And think, what if your coach kicked you out of your football team simply because you weren t masculine enough for the sport? Finally, I want you to become Jane, a 13 year old born transgender and because of this you are bullied every single day, from the moment you walk into the school gates, everybody stares, like you are some sort of alien. Descartes The Cartesian Method Of Doubt The Cartesian method of doubt is a process in which one systematically considers all things purported to be true and attempts to find a scenario in which they may be untrue. In Descartes own words, the purpose of this method is to demolish everything completely and start again right from the foundations . Indeed, by annihilating all which may be considered untrue, Descartes wishes to reconstruct reality based only principles which are unconditionally true. As previously stated, the purpose of the Cartesian method of doubt is to systematically doubt everything which cannot be understood to be true with absolute certainty. Before we begin, we must be clear on the definition of doubt from a Cartesian perspective, specifically, the distinction between belief defeating doubts and justification defeating doubts . The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy explains the difference as follows [there are] two kinds of doubt, in terms of two kinds of ways that doubt can defeat knowledge. Some doubts purport to undermine one s conviction or belief call these belief defeating doubts . Other doubts purport to undermine one s justification (whether or not they undermine belief) call these justification defeating doubts . Descartes method of doubt requires justification defeating doubts, which means the justification for the belief in question is dubitable, not necessarily the belief itself. This distinction is important when examining the method of doubt, but even with this justification defeating requirement of dubitability in mind, it does feel as if the method is asking a bit much. Separate figures from the Bureau of Statistics reveal consumption of pre mixed alcoholic drinks has leapt by 15% in the past year. The figures show that 60% of female drinkers aged between 15 and 17 reported drinking a pre mixed drink, compared to 14% in 2000, suggesting the sweet and fizzy mixes are increasingly introducing young people to alcohol. The foundation survey also underlines the rise of alcohol related violence, with more than a quarter of respondents having been verbally abused by someone under the influence of alcohol, and almost one in 20 having been physically abused by a drunk person. The survey of 23,000 people found the proportion of the general population drinking alcohol daily fell slightly and the number of people abstaining from alcohol climbed from 9.3% to 10.1%. This poem was written in 1951 with the point of view of an African American during the war era. The poet uses many literary techniques, but the main one is satire, which suits the purpose of this poem well because it shows how the war causes many problems in an ironic way. Langston Hughes uses satire to ridicule the war, and he uses irony and a serious tone to support his satire and to show what was happening with humanity during the war era. The poem has a more serious tone which shows how serious this matter is and is shown with the use of irony. • 33. The Economic Crisis Of The G20 The economic crisis has brought about a transformation in international organization, signaling a break with the established system of foundation for managing world liaison. While at the first of the crisis, measures taken appeared ad hoc or temporary, the decision at the Pittsburgh Elevation in September 20 09 to institutionalize the Chemical group of 20 leaders summit reflects a marked shift in the locus of leadership. New players, new meeting place and new issues have moved to the center of global decision making. Over the course of its first class, the G20 has delivered in response to global economic challenges, at least in a declaratory fashion. However, as we move towards a billet crisis environment, the G20 s follow on year will bring new challenges. In the lead up to the two 2010 top Toronto in June and Seoul in November the G20 will need to rise its role beyond the immediacy of crisis response, and propel the common sense of collective enterprisingness into solidified venture moving forward. This paper provides a framework of analysis from a liberal theory perspective and sets out proposals regarding the G20 s place in the evolving international governance design. Through its dual world first as a forum of ministers and then as a leaders summit the G20 has shown itself capable of robust natural action. The energy I would use to fuel my city is hydroelectric because its pros and cons outweigh the pros and cons of solar, coal, wind, and nuclear energy. The most efficient energy source for my city is hydroelectric energy. Hydroelectric energy is the most efficient for many reasons. Hydroelectric energy s power fuel is water, which does not give off harmful chemicals or waste in the air or water; keeping our planet very clean. Hydroelectric energy also has constant power. Its power is generated by moving water. Water is constantly moving. After hydroelectric plants are produced their energy can produce electricity very cheaply. Hydroelectric plants can ... Solar panels still gives off pollution produced as a result of manufacturing, transportation, and installation. The production of energy is rather noisy from the use of fuels. The initial investment of solar cells is extremely high. Solar energy has too many cons to be the best possible source of energy. Coal is also a very destructive source of energy, and is definitely not the supreme source. Coal is a non renewable resource. Coal creates the most CO2 in the environment. As mentioned earlier, self regulation is so intimately related to crime that it could be said that antisocial behavior begins where self regulation ends (Delisi, 2013). Another fact to consider is the fact that most behavior is learned and/or imitated to include criminal behavior and thought processes behind criminality are also a learned process. I think that the link is how that biological factor has been addressed and treated before that person commits crime, in other words besides the biological issue one has to take into account how and what has happened in that persons past along with taking into account that persons environment in which he/she was raised in which may or may not have failed to influenced him/her positively. Finally, the impairments in personality functioning must be relatively stable across time and situations, cannot be better understood as developmentally or culturally normative, and cannot be solely due to the direct physiological effects of a substance or medical condition (Lynam, amp; Vachon, 2012). I would not say that the attributes that cause the such a high increase in suicide attempts and successful suicides as a unique quality. More like, they are a vulnerabilities that make individuals feel as if they do not belong. People in the LGBT community feel out of place, not accepted, the community has an anti gay stigma, harassed, discriminated against and little to no family or community support (Health People 2020, 2017). The rise in campus resources such as information on depression, suicide and STD s can related to these vulnerabilities because the LGBT community is silently calling for help. They are experiencing some type of trouble, some group on campus, other individuals or just the community is not welcoming to them. The campus might not have very strict laws against bullying, which is not effectively protecting its students. The students in who identify as LGBT might not feel like the school has effective programs for them, or that the campus health is o a save nonjudgmental place for them. In just one theory, Burton believed that melancholy could be prevented with a sufficient sleep, music, healthy diet, and consequential work , as well as having a balanced social life with friends and family. Moreover, in the period of 18th century, the theory of melancholia, which is linked to a Major Depressive Disorder, had become progressively more challenged by electrical and mechanical explanations; whereby, if a person exhibited a gloomy and dark state of mind it was also proved that the person gave way to a depleted state of energy loss (Girdlera Klatzkinb, 2007). The term depression was derived from a Latin verb deprimere, to press down. Dated as far back to the 14th century, the term to depress meant to bring down in spirits or to conquer (AllDisease.org, 2011). Even though melancholia continued to be the leading diagnostic expression, depression increased its frequency (its usage of name) in the medical field and was a synonym by the end of its century. The DSM I (1952) (as cited in Girdlera Klatzkinb, 2007) refers to depressive reaction and the DSM II (1968) (as cited in Girdlera Klatzkinb, 2007) depressive neurosis, as words that define an extreme reaction to an identifiable conflict or an internal circumstance (DSM, 2000). Include one example of a regional human rights regime (write at least 1 page double spaced)(5 points) The most notable example of a global human rights regime is the United Nations, and an example of regional human rights would be the OAS ( Organization of American States). Both entities have focuses that are quite similar and intersecting. The main goal of the UN is displayed in article 1 of the UN Charter which states to maintain international peace and security . Primary concerns of the UN are security, humanitarian assistance, development, and human rights which is recognized in the Universal Declaration of Rights by the UN. However, before there was the UN declaration there was the American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man . Despite the similarities both institutions possess there are differences that are apparent in the utilitarian function of each. The UN has a universal influence and system of play, and the OAS plays a smaller role looking over only its specific geographical region of the Americas. While both aim to influence policy and the promotion of human rights there are advantages that come with their differences. • 42. Socioeconomic Status And Quality Of Education In an ideal world, socioeconomic status would not affect the quality of education one would receive. Everyone would have the same opportunities to do well in life and rise up the social ladder. Durkheim (1893) asserted that with universally great public education, economic opportunities would be relatively equal. Even with equal education levels, there would still exist some inequality in the form of legitimate inequality (Durkheim 1893), but the excellent public education would level the playing field, so to speak. However, our world is not an ideal world. We live in a society where money talks and how rich a person is determines the caliber of their educational background. Research has shown that a child from a high income family will have a better life chance and that a child from a low income family has less of a chance to move up the ranks. In my paper, I will argue that there is a correlation between socioeconomic status and quality of education in that the higher socioeconomic status a person has, the better education opportunities they will be able to obtain. Statistically data from Piedmont, CA and East Oakland, CA demonstrates the idea that educational quality and opportunities is closely related to socioeconomic status. Piedmont, CA is a wealthy city surrounded by Oakland, a not so well off area. The fission of uranium can set up a chain reaction that will keep on releasing energy as long as there are uranium nuclei present. Some children may deserve some of what is given to them, but other children may be given everything that they want. They already have it in their heads that they need this or want that, but as soon as the parents give in, they know that they can get away with it. Amy McCready, who partners with Kids R Kids for the expert parenting advice series states that, the two biggest culprits for the entitlement epidemic are over indulging and pampering. The child or teen gets what they want and have no gratitude or appreciation towards their parents. At a young age, children automatically depend on their parents. When they are babies and toddlers, they cannot do the things to maintain themselves. When a child or teen is spoiled, they rely on their parents to help them out whenever they are in need. There are cases in which the parent loves the idea that the child needs them, and doesn t give the child any type of responsibility. They do everything that the child asks or wants them to do just to keep them happy. This can lead to unmotivated children, since they know that their parents will do it themselves. Parents give their children a little money here and there, so now they believe that they do not need to work for it. I for one feel that gun violence should be put in the category of public health. Every year more than 30,000 people are victims to gun related incidents. It has become such an issue that gun violence is causing more deaths than some life threatening diseases. Well first off, I obviously feel that gun violence is a public health issue. The reason for that is because at this point it is considered a Health Crisis (or Public Health Crisis). This means a difficult situation or complex health system that affects humans in one or more geographic areas from a particular locality to encompass the entire planet. It is considered that because now the amount of people affected by gun violence is so high that guns are ahead of HIV, Parkinson s, Malnutrition, Anemia, Viral Hepatitis, and much more for cause of deaths. Yet the funding for research for gun violence is very low compared to the other leading causes of deaths in the United States. Question: Should gun violence be treated as a public health problem ?
