This document discusses synthetic turf and its components. Synthetic turf is made of grass filaments, infill material, and a backing. Traditionally, crumb rubber from tires is used as infill, but it contains toxic chemicals. The document proposes using thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) like SEBS in the grass filaments to increase softness. It also suggests using SEBS soft gel granules as infill instead of crumb rubber to improve cushioning and avoid toxicity. Experiments show blends of HDPE and SEBS create soft grass filaments. SEBS gel infill and softer filaments could minimize injuries compared to traditional synthetic turf materials.
