Gymnasts In Gymnastics
Gymnastics is a very difficult sport that takes a lot of commitment. Many children take on gymnastics
at a young age and strive to become Olympic gymnasts by competing their whole lives, but not a lot
of people are able to pursue that dream due to the challenges that come with being a gymnast. Coaches
are currently conditioning and training their gymnasts at very demanding and advanced levels.
Although the sport has several positive health benefits on the body, it also puts gymnasts at a very
high risk of injury. It is not very common for these injuries to be severe, however, if they are not
treated properly it is likely for them to lead to chronic pain and even bone fractures.
One of a gymnasts most common injuries is a stress fracture involving the lower back. The medical
term for this is Spondylosis. The back is a very crucial part of gymnastics, it is constantly working
hard and being used. Amongst gymnasts, the most common cause of a stress fracture is overuse.
However, they can also occur due to an awkward fall or a fall from a height. Almost everything in
gymnastics calls for a combination of great speed and power which puts any gymnast at high risk of
falling or landing wrong. Whether it s a fall or an awkward landing, the pressure is being applied to
the spine and joints, increasing the chances of injury. Back injuries in adolescent athletes stem from
repetitive stressful body movements, like bending and twisting that can cause trauma to the spinal
column. The

Dbq Essay On Ancient Egypt
As Egypt thrives and becomes stronger everyday as a whole, it gets help from one special and
important geological feature, the Nile. How did the Nile shape Ancient Egypt? Ancient Egypt was a
civilization in Northeastern Africa that settled along the longest river in the world, the Nile. Ancient
Egyptians civilized along the Nile helping them advance their city. The Nile allowed the ancient
Egyptians to have fertile soil for agriculture, and trade from the help of transportation. Also, it allowed
Egypt to become what it is today; the gift of the nile. The Nile helped form and shape ancient egypt to
become stronger and thrive all the way to present day. The Nile provided fertilized soil after every
flood season, helping the agriculture. It flooded once every year during Akhet, and when it flooded, it
brought fresh new soil and sediment from the river. During Peret season, farmers planted crops right
after the flooding stopped, and the harvested them in Shemu. People paid their taxes in wheat, and
wheat was a main export (The DBQ Project pg. 53). This quote means that people relied greatly in

They sometimes even used the Nile for trade. The Nile river flows south to north against a prevailing
northerly wind (The DBQ Project pg. 63). Since the Nile flows south to north against the northerly
winds, they normally used sails and rowers to get a boost from the wind while traveling upriver.
During flood season, the current is about 4 knots, but during the rest of the year, it was a sluggish 1
knot. If they were traveling downriver, they usually just floated along with the help of steering oars.
Since the Egyptians were surrounded by natural barriers, it was hard to trade to nearby civilizations,
because there was none nearby. Also, it was hard to travel by foot because of the barriers, so the Nile

Reflection Of A Good Wife
In 1955, the article entitled, The Good Wife s Guide, detailing all the ways that a wife should act in a
certain ways and how best she can be a partner to her husband and a mother to her children. I believe
that being a good wife runs so much deeper than making dinner, washing undies, and doing the dishes.
It s about prioritizing your family and loving them with all of your heart. As the years pass on, the
society became more open minded about the tradition stereotype gender role. The changes also
included both wife and husband were expected to help each other and the house chores was divided.
The wife is not only the main charged of doing all the house works and prepare food for the family.
Men were also expected to make some contribution to take part in the household works. Whomever
the person went home first whether the husband or the wife, the person is expected to clean up the
house if it s needed, prepare dinner for the family and expected to take care the children. Back in
1995, the wife encourages to wash the children s face, comb their hair and change their clothes.
Importantly, she had to reduce all the noise of washer or vacuum and encourage the children to be
quiet at the time when the husband came home because the husband had spent long enough hours at
his work. When he got home, it s his time to relax and enjoy his time freely without interfering his
moment. But in the 2010 guideline, the expectation for the wife is to encourage the kids to be excited

Americas Colonization
The seeking of power and new lands started all the way back to centuries ago. It was the time were
Empires colonized the Americas establishing their own sets of rules that the Native Americans in the
lands must followed. This Empires cause an enormous effect on this people because their lives
changed completely, in a way that they had to adapt to a new way of living. However, not all Empires
had the same success on the colonization or even the same process of colonizing these new lands.
Spanish and Portuguese established their Empires in the Americas, creating all new political structure,
religious believed, economical changes and social interactions.
Let s begin with explaining the foundation of every nation, this is obvious; politics. Without the latter
content people will have a disorganized, uncivilized, unstructured and violent society. Spain was
considered to be monarchy, since it was ruled by a queen and king during the sixteen and seventeen
centuries. It got so much power and territory that it was considered the largest Empire in history. Their
politics were extremely strict and firm control over their empire (Esler, 2004). It consisted of a
Council of Indies, whose job was to maintain the colonies under control and not letting them to take

Essay on Genetics Are the Main Cause of Psychopathy
One of the things about these kids is that they don t pay attention to the deep emotions or the deep
concerns of other people. They can just look at it in the face and go whatever and move on. (Malcolm)
Whereas some may argue that psychopaths are developed more from their environment, the
characteristic traits and neurological data prove genetics are the main cause of psychopathy.
Psychopathy is a personality disorder characterized by a constellation of interpersonal, affective and
behavioral characteristics. (Harc, 1998) There are many personality traits that accompany those who
are considered to be a psychopath. High levels of aggression or delinquency, and antisocial behaviors
are all seen in youth with personalities correlating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequent studies in youth with conduct disorder show that the parents socialization with their
children has less of an affect upon the development of conduct problems, suggesting more genetic
significance in youth who are notably callous. (Dolan). Mental retardation, lower intelligence and
inability to learn basic communication and language skills have been reported in youth considered
psychopathic. Also reported is the severe psychopathy occurring from the youths parents. These
parents have issues such as extreme maladjustment, chronic alcoholism, and many incarcerations for
criminal acts. (Bezdjian). In order to confirm, tests have been made to assess psychopathic traits in
youth. These tests have been recreated from the adult versions. The psychopathy checklist is a scale
test used for youth ages thirteen to eighteen, it has the same factor structure as the adult PCL R test
from which it was created and focuses on interpersonal aspects of personality and chronic antisocial
structure. The psychopathy screening device is used for youth ages six to twelve, and is completed by
teachers or parents for validity reasons. The most widely used test is the youth psychopathic traits
inventory, which is a self report of fifty items which focus on core personality correlations of youth
and psychopaths. (Dolan).
Now researchers are focusing more on theories of the neurobiological basis of psychopathy. The two

Amy Cortez Change Analysis
The two parts of the work together are titled Change , created by Amy Cortez. The skull on the first
butterfly is an odd contrast to the overall figure. The work is very colorful and bright. The second
butterfly is monochrome and flat, and hangs on a string from the ceiling.
The first component of the work is a butterfly shape with a raised neon green and orange skull in the
center. It is in a black frame with a black background. Colorful patterns radiate out from the skull onto
the wings, first into leaves, and then to looping, wavy shapes. The leaves and skull are shades of
green, and the other colors are yellow, blue, pink, brown, and red. Small, repeating dark green
semicircles outline the butterfly and extend to the black background. ... Show more content on

They do not attempt to represent these things as they are in nature, but still use recognizable shapes to
signify them. The colorful butterfly is a collage made of fabric paint, ribbon, and textured paper. On
the colorful butterfly, the skull is meant to draw attention, as it is in the center of the work, slightly
raised, and is different colors than the wings. The irregular lines and organic shapes of the patterns
radiate out from the skull, guiding the eye to the butterfly outline. This butterfly is the plate used to
create the second. The second, with an absence of color, gets the viewer s attention with its unusual
placement. It contrasts the first butterfly in both color and material. The eye is drawn to the darker
elements in the center and the border.
The butterfly is often used as a symbol of rebirth, which connects with the title of Change . The raised
skull of the first butterfly evokes death, but its bright, cheerful colors and central position seem to
suggest that death in this work is not to be feared, and is even necessary. The second butterfly, hanging
freely from the ceiling, is noticeably different from the first, again invoking the idea of change.
Change here is then often painful, but it is needed and can even be

Generals Die In Bed By Charles Yale Harrison
Through the soldiers experiences, the narrator shows only the dark side of human nature. Discuss.
Generals die in Bed by Charles Yale Harrison is a novel where a young Canadian soldier tells of his
first hand account of the harsh and inhumane conditions in the trenches on the Western Front during
World War 1. Through his observations and experiences the Narrator shows the effects of war on
ordinary people and how they manage in extraordinarily horrific situations. Even though the brutal
nature of the war is often reflected in the violent way that combatants act towards one another there
are also moments when compassion and mercy is shown. The novel demonstrates that in extreme
situations both the dark and the good side of human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However we also are shown bravery, companionship and acts of kindness as the soldiers struggle to
stay humane and sane in a hellish environment.
Throughout the novel they are compassionate and caring to even their enemies in their darkest
moments. They also illustrate the dark and unforgiving side of human nature. They show no pity or
mercy even while being pleaded too.
Throughout the novel the Narrator often shows compassion towards others in his actions eg. letting
the German soldier grieve for his dead brother letting him take a few letters and papers from his
brother s pockets and imagines how their mother would feel. He then helps the Germans to safety
behind the lines amp; asks that the prisoners be treated nicely.
Just like their constant companions the lice and the rats, the soldiers in the trench adapt to the hell that
they find themselves trapped in doing whatever it takes to survive. They even fight each other over
food at each others throats like hungry, snarling animals . As the novel amp; the war progresses so
does the inhumane side of the soldiers who become increasing more detached from killing,
unconcerned with the death of friends. The soldiers are conditioned, hardened up and desensitised
with self preservation becoming a key motivator. This is shown as the soldiers plunder the city of

All Wheel Drive And Luxury Sedan
All wheel drive and luxury to go with it.
The Genesis G80 is a midsize luxury sedan, designed to take on such models as the Audi A6, BMW 5

From the sides, Genesis opted for a more conservative approach, eschewing the dramatic lines and

My Reflection Of Leadership And Leadership
As I reflect on what I ve learned this semester and what I ve learned about myself and academically I
m pleasantly surprised. I had moments this semester when I thought, I m not going to make it. I did,
thank god, but I m now in the middle of finals week looking back and pondering who I am becoming.

implement them in my life and in my career as I move forward. One of the most relevant classes this
semester has been Intro to management because of it s immediate applicability. I realized I had
strengths I had never recognized and things I could grow in. As we covered each module I tried to
analyze myself and compare myself currently to who I d want to be. I want to a mentor who can help
encourage constructive conflict, and help create change by leveraging my power ethically and
effectively. I want to become a visionary who can bring about change in the world and in my
workplace by effectively walking people through the process of change, but I know in order to do that
I need to learn boundaries and how to keep people accountable for non compliance. I could also learn
a lot about how to better organize and coordinate projects, after I have communicated the vision.

The Consequences Of Video Games
In the modern gaming industry with main stream Role Playing Games (RPGs), the battle between the
two sub genres (Western RPGs and Japanese RPGs) have taken over the mass media discussions on
which is better than the other. Despite this, the nominated RPGs in 2017 of Best Role Playing Game
of the year has shown that split in the society with great games such as Divinity: Original Sin 2 and
Persona 5. However, in the past Western RPGs such as Mass Effect (2008) and Dragon Age: Origins

Despite this, there is the argument about the award shows that are exclusively for either Western or
Japanese video games, and whether The Game Awards is valid in being used since Western RPGs are
dominating in the community and hence the market. In fact, The Game Awards is a show that uses an
international jury and as stated before, uses companies such as Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony Interactive

In the same fashion of immersion, the use of expression through character customization and the
experience throughout the game greatly coincides with Western RPGs rather than Japanese RPGs.
This is due to the fact that in Japanese RPGs the consumer is told a story rather than being able to be a
part of the story, like in Western RPGs. As discussed in an article called The Rise of Western RPGs by

The domestic level of analysis will exemplify the inner workings of the nation by focusing on how the
history, political institutions and society affect the nation in the international setting.
In the 1500s the first settlers settled in an area near the Gulf of Fonseca this territory would later be
known as El Salvador. Soon after the territory was conquered by Spanish rule in 1524 and ruled by
King Charles I of Spain until their independence in 1838 (Background, 2012). Struggling with the new
found independence this new nation was curse with constant revolutions and over turning of
governments (Background, 2012). Situated in the middle of the fresh region called Central America
this sovereign state had neither major resources nor growing economy, whereas other nations had an
industry to depend on once the colonial power leaves this nation was forced to start from scratch.
Start of the twentieth century it seemed like El Salvador finally establishes a viable government and
began building an economy (Background, 2012). Then, the economic crisis of the 1930s occurs and
the international markets plummeted and so did El Salvador. Externally, El Salvador was not a huge
contender in global markets, but internally the social, political and economic environment in El
Salvador was becoming tense and in 1932 the peasant workers in the rural countryside raised up
against the land elites (Benavides, 2008). The

Queer History In America Chapter 1 Summary
America has a long and complicated history, some of which has been forgotten or almost hidden away
until recently, specifically LGBT history. The history of LGBTQIA+ people as a whole is something
that has only been written about since the 1970s. Considering the fact that queer people have been
around for much longer than that, their history is still not as developed as it should be. Michael
Bronski, a cultural critic, independent scholar, progressive activist, and college professor, has been
writing extensively on LGBT issues for four decades and has accumulated his knowledge into A
Queer History of the United States. Publishing this queer history , his goal is to educated those who

She wrote Out in the Union: A Labor History of Queer America in order to expose the LGBTQIA+
issues in the labor union. It provides insight on the struggles that Americans had to face with a
different kind of hiring discrimination. Using stories of those who faced their own battles in the labor
union, Frank tries to fill a large gap in history. Starting around the 1970s, she first discusses those who
are coming out in unionized workplaces and follows both queer and straight advocates for gay rights
in their fight against harassment in the workplaces and union halls. Many LGBTQIA+ people have
come out in the union to make their place in labor s campaign for economic justice. They made a part
of their identity public in order to fight for the equal rights they deserve. The battle for equal rights of
transgender workers is also mentioned, their first affirmation in labor agreements being in the 1980s.
Miriam moves on to sharing what she found out about the alliances that were formed between
organizers in queer communities and labor activists to prioritize gay labor issues. Gay labor
campaigns began popping up everywhere, and Miriam wraps up her review of history with the
mention of the passage of the Marriage Equality Act in the State of New York in June

The Sermon On The Exodus
In the book of Exodus, we see how God takes the children of Israel out of Egypt, He Baptizes them in
the Red Sea, leads them through the desert for forty years, works signs and wonders, and he
personally meets them at the top of a mountain where he gives his Law (Ex 13:16; 14:16; Jos 5:6; Ex
16:4; 20:1 17 TNOAB). In Matthew, we see how Jesus leaves Egypt at twelve years old, is baptized in
the Jordan River, goes to the desert for forty days, works signs and wonders, and finds himself
personally with Israel on a hill where he delivers this same Law but amplifies (Mt 2:20; 3:13; 4:1 24;
5:1). Jesus walked through the history of Israel, and in it all the promises of God s covenant with
Israel were fulfilled. The Sermon on the Mount Is quite simply the most celebrated discourse by Jesus
of Nazareth, the incarnate Word. His words influenced his immediate listeners. However, it is not just
about listening to this sermon; we also must apply it. We will see what Jesus said in the Sermon on the
Mount and how we can apply his words to our lives. The beatitudes are the crowning achievement in
the Christian s life on earth. And since the world cannot be transformed or offered to God without the
spirit of the beatitudes, therefore, we must also try hard to assimilate it so that in this way our life,
labors, and trials make us worshipers that in every place we act saintly and consecrate the world to
God. This page of the Gospel of Saint Matthew expresses admirably all the elevation

Character Analysis Of Gone By Michael Grant
It is a well known fact that a persons environment develops his character. Many people react in
different ways when tragedy strikes. Often during the most difficult situations, a persons true character
is magnified. The children of Perdido Beach lived a relatively normal life, until a radioactive
explosion took the lives of everyone over the age of fourteen. In Gone, Michael Grant uses cultural,
physical, and geographical surroundings to shape the psychological and moral traits of his characters
as they try to save the small town of Perdido Beach, California.
In his novel, Grant uses culture to shape the moral traits of Sam and Drake. As Sam, Astrid, Little
Pete, Lana, Quinn, and Edilio trekked through the woods, Drake and Caine followed them in a SUV.
Drake climbs out of the vehicle and pulls a gun to Astrid s head, but quickly decides to go after Sam,
instead. Drake strikes Sam on the head with the gun and knocks him to the ground. As Sam is lying
face down in the dirt, Drake places the barrel of the gun against the back of his knee and shoots him.
Drake then fires the gun at Astrid s autistic brother, Little Pete, but fortunately, his aim was off. Grant
writes, Drake s arm, the entire arm holding the gun, burst into flame (406). Drake and Caine were not
aware of Sam s special powers. Like Bette, Sam can shoot fire out of his hands. While Drake was
preoccupied with murdering Little Pete he forgot to pay attention to the others. Sam uses the last of his

Depression usually starts slow takes over a person thinking and then their entire life. However, when
depression is caused by a broken heart, it latches on to the person so quickly. It takes away anything
positive in their life; they will not feel like talking to anyone and their social functioning will
completely shut down .All they would want to do is stay alone and grief the loss of their loved one. A
person might not leave their house for 3 months or more because they feel like they do not deserve the
happiness they might get from that. Not only that but also their work ethics slow down drastically,
they will not complete any work that is given to them because of the lack of motivation they feel.

Florida Descriptive Narrative
Florida Do you know when you are on a plane, your ears pop like crazy? Well, I know from
experience, because I was on a plane to Florida for 2 ½ hours. My family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and
grandparents were all going to Florida. When the airplane takes off for the very first time, your ears
are not used to the elevation, so it will mostly likely hurt. You eventually get used to the feeling of it,
after a certain amount of time in the plane. We have been in this plane for 2 hours, Braden moaned.
Are we gonna get there anytime soon? Yes, Mom replied. It s not long now until we land. It was about
another half an hour before we finally landed in Orlando, Florida. The first thing we did when we got
off the plane was gather our bags at the bag lot. We then proceeded to find our 15 passenger van that
we had rented for the week. It took about another half an hour before we finally had found the van. I
said in excitement, Finally we can get to our resort and unpack! Then we can get our swimming suits
on and go to the pool! Jessa said lively. Hold on, Mom answered, We still have to find something for
dinner before we do any swimming. It was about a 15 minute drive to our resort, but it was worth the
15 minutes. Orlando, Florida was so beautiful and it had a lot of beautiful sites too. The most
annoying part about driving there was the traffic. Traffic in Orlando was insane and scary. You have

My Greatest Experience
The greatest experience of my life
Can you recall the greatest experience of your life? Football has been a love of mine since I was a
undersized kid. I really grew attached to a team called the Washington Redskins. A lot of my sundays
were spent in front of the television gazing as the Redskins put in work. On September 24th my dad
came home with pale papers in his rugged hand. He placed the papers in my grip which were tickets to
go see the Redskins play the Chiefs in Kansas City on October 2nd.
First off, the excitement I felt rush throughout my body was nothing i ve ever felt in the time that i ve
spent on this Earth. It was hard to believe that I was actually going to see the team I watched growing
up. One of the best parts about it was going to the loudest stadium in the United States. I knew going
into the game that the Kansas City Chiefs were no joke, because they were undefeated on the season at
that point.
Secondly, I woke up on the second of October smelling victory, which also smelt like pancakes. I
tasted a golden sticky syrup on my puffy pancakes. I had glorious pieces of bacon that tasted like god
made them himself. I made sure to get enough food to last me the lengthy excruciating car ride.
Next, it was time for a quick shower so I didn t smell funky. It was probably one of the quickest
showers I have ever taken due to being ready to get on the road for the game. Please don t take points
off for this but, I am always curious if teachers read

William Shakespeare s The Elizabethan Era
William Shakespeare, possibly the greatest writer in English language, had different views about the
world than most writers. Shakespeare completely disagreed with the Elizabethan society he lived in
and with the concept of time. He found his society s views unproductive and incorrect and he believed
that time should not be a part of life, since it causes too much harm. His work showed how he viewed
the concept of love and friendship and how someone cannot live his or her life properly without loving
someone and being loved in return. Shakespeare s worldview and the society he resided in become
illuminated throughout his work, especially in his sonnets. His work reflects the importance of love
and friendship as well as his disagreement with time and the Elizabethan Era s views. William
Shakespeare lived his life and wrote his works during the Elizabethan Era. His writing in his sonnets
often differed with the Elizabethan worldview. For example, the Elizabethan society believed in a
strong hierarchal system. However, Shakespeare often wrote about a strong female. And yet, by
heaven, I think my love as rare/ As any She belied with false compare (Shakespeare, Sonnet 130).
Shakespeare believed that a female can be just as strong, sometimes even stronger, than a male. His
rejection of feminine qualities continue to intrigue today s writers. Shakespeare s insistence through
his speaker in Sonnet 130 to have a real, flesh and blood mistress rather than an ideal goddess is

Absurdity In Eugene Ionesco
Eugene Ionesco is also a very famous writer of absurd theater. He focused on isolation and exhaustion
of man s life and also gave his ironical views on spiritless situation of man in his life. His work
expressed alienation of modern man and failure of communication and also loss of meaning. His plays
like bold Soprano, The lesson, Rhinoceros they also depict man s lack of communication with himself
and with others in the society. Bold Soprano, the chairs are fully in non sequiturs, dialogues and the
language of characters are without thinking. His plays also show the tragedy of modern man in this

For Samuel Beckett absurdity is abstract dilemma it deals with unreal ad philosophical ideas. To
Eugene Ionesco absurdity is related with concrete things but both of these writes are adhered to the
same idea and this is reflected in their plays, that absurdity is always the result of linguistic deficiency
in modern man life, failures in communication, impossibility of expressing the ideas through
language. They unveil the tragic situation of human being and elaborate personal disruption of modern
man from his self, his disgruntlement plight, insufficiency and meagerness of language.
There is not enough work and that s why linguistic deficiency becomes a unique topic for research.
Language is researched in some ways, like long sentences, speeches yet but the way linguistic
deficiency leads to torments and fragmentation of individuals and further leads to modern man tragedy
is a very unique topic for research. Beckett s Eng Game is also explored by many researchers in
different ways, in terms of characterization, in terms of thematic concerns, time, absurdity, there is
also work on absurd language but that is not enough especially when it comes to linguistic deficiency
and its dire consequence in a absurd drama and in modern man s life is unique one and its need to be

Opium Wars
Opium Wars and They Changed China In the early eighteen hundreds, Britain and other European
countries demanded more and more Chinese commodities, especially tea and silk. However, only the
port in Canton was opened to foreign countries, and Chinese would not take any other form of
payments besides silver. The desire to make China into a free market that foreigners have more access
to and the increasing, though illegal, European opium import to China eventually created tension
between the European countries, especially Britain, and the Chinese government (Allingham Par. 1 2).

The combination of increasing unemployment rate and food price created severe poverty across the
nation (Goldfinger par. 1 3). The currencies in China, too, went through a lot of changes to
accommodate the increasing trade. At first, the silver Spanish dollars became rare and increased in
value so much that it was outlawed as a usable currency. However, at the same time, the Chinese
copper currency were also being used less due to the fact that the metal was becoming rare and the
administration of the currency was extremely poor. The Mexican dollar was introduced but the
problem was not solved until paper money were used in 1853 (Goldfinger par. 2). To make the
economy worse, during the First Opium War, China had to pay six million silver dollars to ransom
Canton, and an additional nine million dollars were paid to foreigner traders for their loss. Later,
twelve million taels of silver were paid to Britain and France under the treaties negotiated after the
Second Opium War. All of those factors weakened the Chinese economy in the 1800s (Allingham

A Jazz Concert Report
An Evening of Jazz
On November 17th, 2016, I attended a jazz concert and had quite a time. The experience was
captivating, and gave me a warm feeling inside. There were three different bands that play in the hour
slot, and all of them sounded magnificent, but The Santé Fe Jazz Combo and Santa Fe Big Band stood
out the most. The only thing these two bands have in common is that some of the musicians play in
both bands. Otherwise, these jazz fanatics are polar opposites.
When listening to The Santé Fe Jazz Combo, you get a mellow feeling that courses through your body.
Their opener Recorda Me, which was my favorite piece, featured solos from Dr. Hamilton on Piano,
Spencer Hoefert on Guitar, Ben Salhanick on Bass, Doc B on Alto Sax, Wyatt Thomas on Trombone,
and Noah Woolard on Drum Set. The song had a moderate swing tempo that kept your feet tapping up
until the solo. First, the brass rang through their part, then the electric instruments. Next came the
bass; he was strumming so fast but he was barely audible. The pianist busting through with a tricky
piano rift and the drummer finished it off with an intense solo. Every rim shot sent a jolt into the air
like lightning and the buzz rolls sounded like thunder. Noah s part reminded me why I love playing the

Touch Reaction Times
Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times
Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018
Introduction:
The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using different
stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body. When your
senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to recognize the
signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which your brain
recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. The process of reacting is carried out by
many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain. (Yuhas, 2018). There ... Show

Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally visual
with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the fastest
reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli was 0.170
seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an average time of
0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest reaction time was caused
by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176 seconds. This is similar to
previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006 seconds between the previous results
and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the slowest in this experiment. This contradicts
previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this
experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth,
it took time for the subject to recognise the movement and to react to it. These results contradict
previous experiments. The brain signals were processed on average more slowly than in previous
experiments. However, this experiment could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and
touch tests were carried out, there was most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch
and the ruler being dropped. Also, test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would
have caused a discrepancy in the results, because different subjects may have had different personal
reaction times due to several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. In this experiment we
used 13 year old test subjects. It is unknown of the age of the previous experiments. This experiment
could have been improved by conducting more tests over a range of people to calculate a more global

For My Second Practicum, I Wrote Two Lesson Plans Because
For my second practicum, I wrote two lesson plans because I wanted to allow my student to choose

Richard Carson and an interactive reading lesson over I Think I Forgot by Mercer Mayer.
Planning for two different books was not difficult, but I had to keep in mind that my student was only
going to have the opportunity to read one of the books, and in the end, my student chose to read The
Story of Henny Penny. For this shared reading lesson, I followed the steps for a shared reading by Gail

Reread the story. 5. Continue the process. 6. Students read independently.
If I had more time or saw my student more frequently, I would make sure to include these steps during
a shared reading lesson.
After I planned the shared reading portion of the lesson, I planned a short writing activity where my
student would have the opportunity to write down the three main events from the story.
The teaching part of this lesson went in a totally different direction than I had planned. After the
picture walk, my student showed a deep interest in trying to read the book out loud on his own, and I
made the decision to let my student give the book a try. Since this book was a level above what my
student s level, I figured that after a page or so he would want me to take over the reading. That is not
what happened though.
My student read the entire book on his own with minimal error! This slight change in my lesson plan
meant that I was no longer teaching a shared reading lesson, but rather a guided reading lesson. After
my student finished reading, we proceeded with the lesson I had planned. We discussed the story, what
happened, what plot was, and then the plot of this story. Then he used the story cards to retell the
story. I labeled clothes pins with numbers one through six and had them on a piece of yarn to
symbolize that the events on the card happened in order to form a whole story. After that we moved on

The Godfather Sociology
The Godfather is an interesting and moving film with everything from family disputes to organized
criminal activity. This movie is rated R and should be seen in the absence of children. The Godfather
shows how close organized crime families are and they would do anything to protect them. This
movie takes place in the 40 s and 50 s in New York. Marlon Brando portrays Vito Corleone, also
known as the Godfather. Al Pacino portrays Michael Corleone, Vito s youngest son. The Godfather
was inducted to the National Film Registry in 1990 (Library of Congress). In this movie, Coppola

Michael, being a college, World War II hero, he tests his strength and cunning to avenge his father s
near murder. The Corleone family has the drive for revenge, the need for respect and demand for
justice. The eldest son, Sonny, (played by James Caan) and Michael had very different views on how
the family should be ran. Sonny wanted to get the family out and go after the other families, while
Michael wanted to play it low key and continue business how the Godfather would have wanted it.
The primary business that the Corleone family was involved in was gambling and unions. Other
families felt rejected when Don Vito Corleone declined to enter the drug business saying that it was a
dirty business . A man who doesn t spend time with his family can never be called a man (Don Vito

This movie also shows how a family of immigrants could create a life in America by creating an
empire of crime. Another point this movie proved was that money talks. With money and power, you
can get anything you want. During the making of The Godfather, the Italian American Civil Rights
League organized protests, because it felt that the film would only reinforce the Italian equals mobster

submitted is expected to follow a set of rules, with students obligated to follow these rules and to
create an end product that encompasses the expectations set forth by their teacher. The following
summary and response to Mark Edmundson s work follows most of the rules, though it may not meet
expectations set forth by a single teacher. Some risks are worth taking, even if it may seem to
jeopardize the educational path students feel obliged to follow. Using his experiences with students
who follow rules, Edmundson makes many misguided judgments about the passions, individuality,
and educational decisions of students. On the Uses of a Liberal Education by Mark Edmundson
examines the relationship between the ways of college students and the universities they attend. He
states that students lack passion and avoid taking educational chances to challenge themselves.
Edmundson also has the idea that all of his students, except for a few outliers, are cowardly and
unwilling to pursue higher paths of education. According to Edmundson, the universities are to blame;
the main purpose of the universities being to appease the wants and needs of students. This consumer
culture created by universities is unknowingly perpetuated by the students who wish to attend.
Edmundson concludes with ideas of how to improve this relationship: getting rid

Major Literary Forms In The New Testament
Define and describe the major literary forms (genres) contained in the New Testament?
The New Testament contains several different genres but not as many as the Hebrew bible, Gospels
the only literary category that was invented by the early Christians. Gospel was a Greek word meaning
evengelion or good news . Gospel tells the story of Jesus his ministry death and resurrection. In the
Greek speaking times Evangelion was used to announce public news of the Roman emperor and to
denote Jesus teachings and his life.
A gospel involves the words and good deeds of Jesus and there forms are not shaped by biographical
consideration but by their author s theological viewpoints or a study of God. By placing the four
gospels at the beginning of the New Testament, there are four different interpretations by four
different authors.
Letters are the second literary form, the New Testament has twenty one letters that offer views of
Christians in there difficulties in following Jesus, these letters were written between 30 60 CE.
The book of Revelations is another major literary form also known as the apocalypse or unveiling,
Revelations features the unseen world inhabited by both good and evil creatures and urges us as
believers to follow Christ each and every day and to always have faith in him. As we study the books
we find numerous apocalyptic concepts involving eschatology or study of worlds end. 2. Which part
of the NT was written first and who was the author? When did he write it?

The Man Cave Case Study
 Briefly summarize the case. Brad and Julie worked hard to get a home they wanted and it took them
two years to get the man cave Brad had always wanted. With this man cave, they were able to put in
some valuable pieces into the man cave and it was a showcase for this family. One day they had a fire
in the home and it cause major damage to the man cave, to the point of having to start over and rebuild
the basement. They were able to rent a house from a family that would have lost the home if they had
not rented this home. Thus, they was able to help the family out. They looked at what they wanted to
do with the home and redid the man cave into a family cave.  What are some key principles or
concepts from the course that can be applied in offering help or direction for this family? (Include

Which relationships might be particularly at risk, and which need to be protected in order for the
family to flourish? The relationship of the couple is the most important. If they are not in equal
agreement with everything then the problems arise. They are able to help children other family
members and even friends. The couple can go hand in hand and know it will be a better day.  How
would you recommend that the family cope or respond to the stressor events? As a family, this would
be a good time for a family council. Ask the family what we should do now. Then make sure everyone
has a say to what they want and then listen to what each member would like to have done so everyone
would have an input. Have everyone agree what needs to be done and then find out what to do next. 
How consistent are their recorded responses with sound principles and practices? When a family will
have a family council then all of the family is in agreement with what needs to be done. Even the
youngest child has a say.  How do they comply with or differ from recommended

The Threat of Nuclear War Since the Cold War
The Threat of Nuclear War Since the Cold War
I partly agree and disagree with the above statement. Nuclear war was at the height of taking place in
the cold war and whilst it has subsided a little since the end it has not yet completely gone. Nuclear
threat is different now then it was in the Twentieth Century, to prove my views I will talk about the
cold war with reference to nuclear threat and what that means today.
At the end of the Second World War, the world was in devastation, Germany has finally been defeated
and a new superpower emerged: United States of America. To examine the threats of nuclear war in
the cold war I must first look at the causes of the cold war, this would help me ... Show more content

For a while, the US was ahead in the nuclear arms race, but not for long the Soviet Hydrogen bomb
was exploded barely a year later. This pattern went on and on and the USA was ahead most of the
time. It was at this time (when all these destructive weapons were being developed) that the concept of
MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) came about and many people thought nuclear weapons were
not a threat because of this idea. A population is best protected by leaving it vulnerable to nuclear
attack as long as the opposing side experiences the same level of vulnerability. So, in other words,
whoever shoots first dies second whatever happens. All these nuclear weapons were owned by
powerful countries with precise security measures (though not all the time) and excellent organization.
Also, the kind of threat I am talking about was an event which could spark off a retaliation which
could be nuclear war and human error could also be a threat and this happened many times throughout
the course of the cold war. This is all very different compared to nuclear threat today.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a breathtaking event and was the closest the world had come to
annihilation and was the cause of extra measures put forward by the both governments involved. In
1959, the leader of Cuba Batista was overthrown by a Communist ruler, Fidel Castro. Cuba was often
known as being the

Many children take on gymnastics at a young age and strive to become Olympic gymnasts by competing their whole lives, but not a lot of people are able to pursue that dream due to the challenges that come with being a gymnast. Coaches are currently conditioning and training their gymnasts at very demanding and advanced levels. Although the sport has several positive health benefits on the body, it also puts gymnasts at a very high risk of injury. It is not very common for these injuries to be severe, however, if they are not treated properly it is likely for them to lead to chronic pain and even bone fractures. One of a gymnasts most common injuries is a stress fracture involving the lower back. The medical term for this is Spondylosis. The back is a very crucial part of gymnastics, it is constantly working hard and being used. Amongst gymnasts, the most common cause of a stress fracture is overuse. However, they can also occur due to an awkward fall or a fall from a height. Almost everything in gymnastics calls for a combination of great speed and power which puts any gymnast at high risk of falling or landing wrong. • 10. Essay on Genetics Are the Main Cause of Psychopathy One of the things about these kids is that they don t pay attention to the deep emotions or the deep concerns of other people. They can just look at it in the face and go whatever and move on. (Malcolm) Whereas some may argue that psychopaths are developed more from their environment, the characteristic traits and neurological data prove genetics are the main cause of psychopathy. Psychopathy is a personality disorder characterized by a constellation of interpersonal, affective and behavioral characteristics. Also reported is the severe psychopathy occurring from the youths parents. These parents have issues such as extreme maladjustment, chronic alcoholism, and many incarcerations for criminal acts. (Bezdjian). In order to confirm, tests have been made to assess psychopathic traits in youth. These tests have been recreated from the adult versions. The psychopathy checklist is a scale test used for youth ages thirteen to eighteen, it has the same factor structure as the adult PCL R test from which it was created and focuses on interpersonal aspects of personality and chronic antisocial structure. The psychopathy screening device is used for youth ages six to twelve, and is completed by teachers or parents for validity reasons. The work is very colorful and bright. The second butterfly is monochrome and flat, and hangs on a string from the ceiling. The first component of the work is a butterfly shape with a raised neon green and orange skull in the center. It is in a black frame with a black background. Colorful patterns radiate out from the skull onto the wings, first into leaves, and then to looping, wavy shapes. The leaves and skull are shades of green, and the other colors are yellow, blue, pink, brown, and red. They do not attempt to represent these things as they are in nature, but still use recognizable shapes to signify them. The colorful butterfly is a collage made of fabric paint, ribbon, and textured paper. On the colorful butterfly, the skull is meant to draw attention, as it is in the center of the work, slightly raised, and is different colors than the wings. The irregular lines and organic shapes of the patterns radiate out from the skull, guiding the eye to the butterfly outline. This butterfly is the plate used to create the second. The second, with an absence of color, gets the viewer s attention with its unusual placement. It contrasts the first butterfly in both color and material. The eye is drawn to the darker elements in the center and the border. The butterfly is often used as a symbol of rebirth, which connects with the title of Change . The raised skull of the first butterfly evokes death, but its bright, cheerful colors and central position seem to suggest that death in this work is not to be feared, and is even necessary. The second butterfly, hanging freely from the ceiling, is noticeably different from the first, again invoking the idea of change. Generals die in Bed by Charles Yale Harrison is a novel where a young Canadian soldier tells of his first hand account of the harsh and inhumane conditions in the trenches on the Western Front during World War 1. Through his observations and experiences the Narrator shows the effects of war on ordinary people and how they manage in extraordinarily horrific situations. Even though the brutal nature of the war is often reflected in the violent way that combatants act towards one another there are also moments when compassion and mercy is shown. Throughout the novel they are compassionate and caring to even their enemies in their darkest moments. They also illustrate the dark and unforgiving side of human nature. They show no pity or mercy even while being pleaded too. Throughout the novel the Narrator often shows compassion towards others in his actions eg. letting the German soldier grieve for his dead brother letting him take a few letters and papers from his brother s pockets and imagines how their mother would feel. He then helps the Germans to safety behind the lines amp; asks that the prisoners be treated nicely. Just like their constant companions the lice and the rats, the soldiers in the trench adapt to the hell that they find themselves trapped in doing whatever it takes to survive. They even fight each other over food at each others throats like hungry, snarling animals . As the novel amp; the war progresses so does the inhumane side of the soldiers who become increasing more detached from killing, unconcerned with the death of friends. • 27. My Greatest Experience The greatest experience of my life Can you recall the greatest experience of your life? Football has been a love of mine since I was a undersized kid. I really grew attached to a team called the Washington Redskins. A lot of my sundays were spent in front of the television gazing as the Redskins put in work. On September 24th my dad came home with pale papers in his rugged hand. He placed the papers in my grip which were tickets to go see the Redskins play the Chiefs in Kansas City on October 2nd. First off, the excitement I felt rush throughout my body was nothing i ve ever felt in the time that i ve spent on this Earth. It was hard to believe that I was actually going to see the team I watched growing up. One of the best parts about it was going to the loudest stadium in the United States. I knew going into the game that the Kansas City Chiefs were no joke, because they were undefeated on the season at that point. Secondly, I woke up on the second of October smelling victory, which also smelt like pancakes. I tasted a golden sticky syrup on my puffy pancakes. I had glorious pieces of bacon that tasted like god made them himself. I made sure to get enough food to last me the lengthy excruciating car ride. Next, it was time for a quick shower so I didn t smell funky. It was probably one of the quickest showers I have ever taken due to being ready to get on the road for the game. Please don t take points off for this but, I am always curious if teachers read ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. William Shakespeare s The Elizabethan Era William Shakespeare, possibly the greatest writer in English language, had different views about the world than most writers. Shakespeare completely disagreed with the Elizabethan society he lived in and with the concept of time. He found his society s views unproductive and incorrect and he believed that time should not be a part of life, since it causes too much harm. His work showed how he viewed the concept of love and friendship and how someone cannot live his or her life properly without loving someone and being loved in return. Shakespeare s worldview and the society he resided in become illuminated throughout his work, especially in his sonnets. His work reflects the importance of love and friendship as well as his disagreement with time and the Elizabethan Era s views. William Shakespeare lived his life and wrote his works during the Elizabethan Era. His writing in his sonnets often differed with the Elizabethan worldview. For example, the Elizabethan society believed in a strong hierarchal system. However, Shakespeare often wrote about a strong female. And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare/ As any She belied with false compare (Shakespeare, Sonnet 130). He focused on isolation and exhaustion of man s life and also gave his ironical views on spiritless situation of man in his life. His work expressed alienation of modern man and failure of communication and also loss of meaning. His plays like bold Soprano, The lesson, Rhinoceros they also depict man s lack of communication with himself and with others in the society. Bold Soprano, the chairs are fully in non sequiturs, dialogues and the language of characters are without thinking. To Eugene Ionesco absurdity is related with concrete things but both of these writes are adhered to the same idea and this is reflected in their plays, that absurdity is always the result of linguistic deficiency in modern man life, failures in communication, impossibility of expressing the ideas through language. However, only the port in Canton was opened to foreign countries, and Chinese would not take any other form of payments besides silver. The desire to make China into a free market that foreigners have more access to and the increasing, though illegal, European opium import to China eventually created tension between the European countries, especially Britain, and the Chinese government (Allingham Par. 1 2). The currencies in China, too, went through a lot of changes to accommodate the increasing trade. At first, the silver Spanish dollars became rare and increased in value so much that it was outlawed as a usable currency. However, at the same time, the Chinese copper currency were also being used less due to the fact that the metal was becoming rare and the administration of the currency was extremely poor. The Mexican dollar was introduced but the problem was not solved until paper money were used in 1853 (Goldfinger par. 2). To make the economy worse, during the First Opium War, China had to pay six million silver dollars to ransom Canton, and an additional nine million dollars were paid to foreigner traders for their loss. Later, twelve million taels of silver were paid to Britain and France under the treaties negotiated after the Second Opium War. There were three different bands that play in the hour slot, and all of them sounded magnificent, but The Santé Fe Jazz Combo and Santa Fe Big Band stood out the most. The only thing these two bands have in common is that some of the musicians play in both bands. Otherwise, these jazz fanatics are polar opposites. When listening to The Santé Fe Jazz Combo, you get a mellow feeling that courses through your body. Their opener Recorda Me, which was my favorite piece, featured solos from Dr. Hamilton on Piano, Spencer Hoefert on Guitar, Ben Salhanick on Bass, Doc B on Alto Sax, Wyatt Thomas on Trombone, and Noah Woolard on Drum Set. The song had a moderate swing tempo that kept your feet tapping up until the solo. First, the brass rang through their part, then the electric instruments. Next came the bass; he was strumming so fast but he was barely audible. The pianist busting through with a tricky piano rift and the drummer finished it off with an intense solo. Touch Reaction Times Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018 Introduction: The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using different stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body. When your senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to recognize the signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which your brain recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. The process of reacting is carried out by many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain. (Yuhas, 2018). There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally visual with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the fastest reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli was 0.170 seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an average time of 0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest reaction time was caused by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176 seconds. This is similar to previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006 seconds between the previous results and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the slowest in this experiment. This contradicts previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth, it took time for the subject to recognise the movement and to react to it. These results contradict previous experiments. The brain signals were processed on average more slowly than in previous experiments. However, this experiment could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and touch tests were carried out, there was most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch and the ruler being dropped. Also, test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would have caused a discrepancy in the results, because different subjects may have had different personal reaction times due to several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. In this experiment we used 13 year old test subjects. It is unknown of the age of the previous experiments. I planned a shared reading lesson over The Story of Henny Penny by Richard Carson and an interactive reading lesson over I Think I Forgot by Mercer Mayer. Planning for two different books was not difficult, but I had to keep in mind that my student was only going to have the opportunity to read one of the books, and in the end, my student chose to read The Story of Henny Penny. After I planned the shared reading portion of the lesson, I planned a short writing activity where my student would have the opportunity to write down the three main events from the story. The teaching part of this lesson went in a totally different direction than I had planned. After the picture walk, my student showed a deep interest in trying to read the book out loud on his own, and I made the decision to let my student give the book a try. Since this book was a level above what my student s level, I figured that after a page or so he would want me to take over the reading. That is not what happened though. My student read the entire book on his own with minimal error! This slight change in my lesson plan meant that I was no longer teaching a shared reading lesson, but rather a guided reading lesson. After my student finished reading, we proceeded with the lesson I had planned. We discussed the story, what happened, what plot was, and then the plot of this story. Then he used the story cards to retell the story. • 37. Mark Edmundson On The Uses Of Modern Education Summary On the Criticisms of Modern Education There are courses that students take in order to earn credit, and most require essays. Each essay that is submitted is expected to follow a set of rules, with students obligated to follow these rules and to create an end product that encompasses the expectations set forth by their teacher. The following summary and response to Mark Edmundson s work follows most of the rules, though it may not meet expectations set forth by a single teacher. Some risks are worth taking, even if it may seem to jeopardize the educational path students feel obliged to follow. Using his experiences with students who follow rules, Edmundson makes many misguided judgments about the passions, individuality, and educational decisions of students. On the Uses of a Liberal Education by Mark Edmundson examines the relationship between the ways of college students and the universities they attend. He states that students lack passion and avoid taking educational chances to challenge themselves. Edmundson also has the idea that all of his students, except for a few outliers, are cowardly and unwilling to pursue higher paths of education. According to Edmundson, the universities are to blame; the main purpose of the universities being to appease the wants and needs of students. This consumer culture created by universities is unknowingly perpetuated by the students who wish to attend. Edmundson concludes with ideas of how to improve this relationship: getting rid ... • 38. Major Literary Forms In The New Testament Define and describe the major literary forms (genres) contained in the New Testament? The New Testament contains several different genres but not as many as the Hebrew bible, Gospels the only literary category that was invented by the early Christians. Gospel was a Greek word meaning evengelion or good news . Gospel tells the story of Jesus his ministry death and resurrection. In the Greek speaking times Evangelion was used to announce public news of the Roman emperor and to denote Jesus teachings and his life. A gospel involves the words and good deeds of Jesus and there forms are not shaped by biographical consideration but by their author s theological viewpoints or a study of God. By placing the four gospels at the beginning of the New Testament, there are four different interpretations by four different authors. It was at this time (when all these destructive weapons were being developed) that the concept of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) came about and many people thought nuclear weapons were not a threat because of this idea. A population is best protected by leaving it vulnerable to nuclear attack as long as the opposing side experiences the same level of vulnerability. So, in other words, whoever shoots first dies second whatever happens. All these nuclear weapons were owned by powerful countries with precise security measures (though not all the time) and excellent organization.
