The Pros And Cons Of The New York Diet
The New York Diet is quickly gaining popularity in a world where fad diets overpower the
concept of good nutrition and exercise. David Kirsch, a celebrity trainer, has recently developed
the New York diet. This is a fairly strict diet based on the emphasis of eating and living a low
carbohydrate lifestyle. The New York diet is based heavily around the concept of cutting sugar
and non essential fats out of one s diet. This diet tries to completely cut all sweets such as soda,
candy, sugar, and even fruit. It also targets unhealthy beverages such as alcohol and coffee.
Another emphasis, that may be puzzling to some, is the complete elimination of Dairy foods, such
as milk, cheese, and yogurt in most cases. There are a variety of pros and cons... Show more content

In early and mid adulthood, many adults need to begin thinking about their brain health and
ways in which we can make natural improvements with diet, exercise, and other healthy lifestyle
choices. If you have a family history of disorders associated with low levels of dopamine, you
may want to consider how you can naturally increase dopamine levels in your own body to help
improve your aging outcomes. As a neurotransmitter in the brain, dopamine is vital to our
memory, cognitive function, and even to our voluntary movement capabilities. While we can
not directly increase dopamine naturally, there are specific steps we can take to help our bodies
boost the production of dopamine more effectively. Eating foods, for example, that are rich in
tyrosine is one way in which we help to provide our bodies with the precursors need to naturally
create dopamine for use in the days and weeks to come. If are looking for ways in which to
naturally increase dopamine levels in your body, consider eating diets that are right in meats,
cheese, and even in soy based products as all of these foods contain high levels of tyrosine that
will provide your body with the foundation on which to boost dopamine levels. Of course, if you
have food intolerance to any of these items, and especially if you suffer from contraindicated health
conditions, then do not make these consumptions unless you have discussed them first with your

Language Is Used For Social And Cultural Communication
Oral Language: Language is used for social and cultural communication. Students enter school with
a language base (standard or non standard English) that teachers must build on. Oral language
communication is deeply rooted in learning to read and write. Oral language development lays the
foundation for students development of phonological awareness skills. Teachers can build literacy
experiences around students languageskills.
Teaching Tips
Rich teacher talk: during reading and writing teachers used a variety of uncommon words to build
students listening vocabulary. Teachers extend children s comments to be more descriptive and
grammatically correct. Teachers should listen and respond to all comments students make during
literacy interactions.
Story book reading: Read stories, poems and information books during whole and small group.
Teachers support students learning through discussion before, during and after reading. Teachers
use repeated reading of favorite books to build on students retelling and memory.
Alphabet Knowledge: Students understanding that written spelling represents spoken word is
crucial to beginning reading attainment. Learning the letters of the alphabet requires many
meaningful experiences with written language. Teachers should begin teaching alphabet letters
using environmental print and children s names. Although some letters should not be taught
together, children don t learn letters of the alphabet in any particular order or by drilling

throughout the poem. Many think that a slim and trim body or pretty faces are the many features
of a true woman. But Angelo explains the small insignificant features of a womanthat people or
society never mention. She believes and convinces the reader that these are the marks of a woman.
The poems central idea is; Women should embrace their natural traits and characteristics even if

The Discovery Of Gold And Australia
The discovery of gold in Australia dramatically changed the course of our steadily developing
country. The gold rush massively impacted every aspect of the nation, although not all these
changes were positive. With the gold rush came the introduction of more diverse culture, increased
population and infrastructure. Before the 1850 s, Australiawas a prison colony meant as a
punishment for convicts of the British. However, in just the fifty years after the beginning of the
Australian gold rush, Australia became an independent country. From a wilderness inhabited by
convicts to a free and federated nation in less than half a century. Without the gold rush, our
society wouldn t be what it is today. The discovery of gold sparked a massive influx of
immigration to the still forming country of Australia. During the very early years of the gold rush,
NSW and Victoria were the centre for gold mining and attracted thousands of hopeful diggers. This
rapid introduction of new people had many impacts on Australian society. People came from
different points of the world to mine on Australia s gold rich fields. The majority of were British but
many others came from Germany, Italy, France, China and even America. This created a rich
multicultural melting pot that would forever forge a highly diverse population. A repercussion of a
sudden influx of multiculturalism was the targeting of a group of foreigners that attracted particular
attention. These were the Chinese; as their numbers began

Graphic Design And Interface Design
As we all know, the roles of design are satisfying daily needs of people as well as improving the
quality of their lives. Not only that, design, as a part of the arts industries, also need aesthetic
judgment. That is why visual designer came up. In this essay, I will contrast graphic design with
interface design , compare them in three different ways including historical technological and
conceptual development and discuss the connection as well as development potential of them. In
any case, the development trend of two kinds of design industries is inseparable. And throughout all
of the contemporary design styles, I prefer flat design.
If we contrast graphic design and interface differently, we can consider the biggest difference is
that graphic design can allow convey a little abstract , which is brand oriented, while interface
design is totally customer oriented. Although the function of both of them is communicate
information. For instance, here is a picture of Soviet poster called Beat the whites with Red wedge
(El Lissitzky, 1920).
This poster is a good example of using symbols. It simplify the composition and structure to
become geometric abstractive colorful formal elements, which is make sure that the poster will
have intensive aesthetic feeling and visual impact. But imagine that, what will happen if designer
use abstract symbol on website index? The answer is user did not know the meaning of symbols
and they could not browse the website commendably. Here is a

Bank Of The New Edition Of Macbeth
In the political cartoon called by the name of New edition of Macbeth. Bank oh s Ghost a very
ghastly scene was unfolding. The primary context for the painting itself was the Panic of 1837
that occurred just as Andrew Jackson was leaving office in 1836, leaving the venerable Martin
Van Buren to fend for himself in a mess not of his own doing. The Panic of 1837 was a
consequence of many factors sprawling from Jackson s election in 1828 to 1836. The first of
these factors was the bank war between the Jackson administration and the 2nd national bank of
the United States created by the market revolution in 1816. The bank symbolized the hopes and
fears inspired by the market revolution. The expansion of banking helped to finance the nation s
economic development. But many Americans, including Jackson, distrusted bankers as non
producers who contributed nothing to the nation s wealth but profited from the labor of others.
The tendency of banks to over issue paper money, whose deterioration in value reduced the real
income of wage earners, reinforced this conviction. Jackson himself had long believed the hard
money gold and silver was the only honest currency. Nonetheless, when he assumed office there
was little reason to believe that the Bank War would become the major event of his presidency.1

Environmental Exploring And The Environmental Effects Of...
For centuries, production and absorption of carbon dioxide was in balance with the ecosystem
however, in the last century, human activity has caused detrimental effects to the earth s
atmosphere due to the consequential changes in earth s natural feedback mechanism. This problem
ultimately originated from the industrial revolution in the 18th century where as a result caused the
constant production and burning of fossil fuels which has presently caused the warming of earths
surface. This is ultimately a result of by the greenhouse effect ...which is caused by the interaction
between earth s atmosphere and incoming radiation from the sun. Greenhouse gases primarily
consist of carbon dioxidehowever others such as ...water vapour, methane, and nitrous oxide... are
also associated to the greenhouse effect. Scientifically, solar radiation passes through the
atmosphere to the surface of earth, where it is absorbed and then radiated upward as heat is the
result of the high emission of greenhouse gases. The most substantial and common way of emission
is through the burning of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity production. Therefore, human
activities over the past century has ultimately caused the more recent problem of the effects global
warmingis posing to our ecosystem and planet.
Currently, statistics have proven global warming to be a global real crisis that requires an
immediate solution. Through the scientific aid in earth orbiting satellites, it has allowed

Pros And Cons Of Slavery 1800s
Slavery. A topic that should never be brought up in a conversation, should never be said casually,
and should never happen. Slavery, despite being illegal in every country, is still going on, and at
different odds. Slavery has many forms. Many of which, only the cruelest of minds can think up.
Slavery is different than in the 1800s because it has many more forms, has more potential slaves,
and more profit.
There are many types of slavery. The most common for the 1800s is forced labor, which in the
1800s, was longterm, no pay, bad conditions. Forced labor is physical, forcing them to work for
hours on end, and beaten into submission. There is also forced marriage, sex trafficking, and
child labor, the most cruel. Slaves under 18 take up 30% of the whole slave population, and is
involved with every single type of slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

threatening someone to spend the rest of their life with you, threatening to murder and kidnap your

Slavery back in the 1800s was for profit, despite there not being a lot of profit. Slavery now, despite

God Was Wrong, Support Mountaintop Removal
God Was Wrong, Support Mountaintop Removal
Coal in the United States has long been the #1 producer of energy. Massive seams of coal are
found in the Appalachian Mountains, and our reliance on this fossil fuel has meant devastation for
many mountain residents and over 500 mountains. As our society advances, the need for more
energy advances. What were once beautiful rolling hills are now flattened plateaus reminiscent of a
landscape you would see in the desert. We as a nation have only short term interest in our
environment, and choose to ignore the many warning signs this planet continues to offer us. Left in
our path of destruction are the many residents of Appalachia and a landscape that begs us for
forgiveness.
Mountaintop removal is process where the tops of mountains are removed with explosives in order
to extract coal from inside the mountain. The debris created by the explosions is discarded in a
valley, which is then called fill material. A loophole in the Clean Water Actreclassified the waste
created by mountaintop removal waste as valley fill, which in turn greatly increased extraction of
coal from mountains (225). These valleys usually contain streams which become buried underneath
fill, causing much of the natural habitat to vanish and poisoning what streams are left. The older
and more traditional method was to dig inside the mountain through a tunnel network which was
more time consuming and required much more personnel. Of course, when companies

Many financial companies fail for various reasons that include fraud and the manipulation of assets
within the company. The research done in the paper will discuss financial companies that have been
affected because of fraud and the way they are ran. This will show how companies develop their
organization amongst the managers and create communication throughout the Company. Also, there
will be knowledge of competitive teams and what the companies bring to the table about while

Fraud by definition can be a lot of things when it involves malicious and dishonoring actions. It has
anything to do with misappropriations or even have knowledge of the wrong appropriation, a single

vindictive and disrespecting activities. It has anything to do with misappropriations or even know

of how fraud can be affected and taken into account of harming the company.
The early cautioning indications of misrepresentation are, as a rule, constantly overlooked. There
are cautioning signs for each kind of misrepresentation out there. The individual submitting the
extortion is continually searching for monetary profit. There are numerous sorts of

The Value Of Vengeance In Beowulf
Vengeance is an important value that causes misfortune in the story of Beowulf. It brings not only
Beowulf, but many others, fame and glory, plus, wealth as well. It is not a sustainable value for it
brings everyone in the story only destruction. The tribes that have been bonded together by this
value get destroyed but it. The value of courage is tied into the story since almost the entire story is
based on vengeance. When Beowulfis helping Hrothgar get his vengeance, he attacks Grendel,
saw that his strength was deserting him, his claws, Bound fast, Higlac s brave follower tearing
at his hands. (Beowulf, page 36). Beowulf fights Grendel with his hands because he promised
Hrothgar that he would help him obtain his vengeance. Beowulf gets his fame, wealth and glory
for his victory over Grendel which was achievable through Hrothgar s desire for vengeance
against the monster. After the battle with Grendel, Hrothgar spoke to Beowulf, Glory is now
yours, Forever and ever; your courage has earned it, And your strength. (Beowulf, page 42).
Hrothgar praises Beowulf for granting his desire of vengeance on Grendel and awards him. He
tells Beowulf that he has earned glory and wealth by helping him in destroying Grendel. Grendel
s mother is saddened and angered when she finds out her son is dead and proceeds to Herot: But a
monster still lived, and meant revenge. (Beowulf, page 56). Vengeance is the cause of destruction
and that is what Grendel s mother wants to do to the men of

Collective Bargaining In Nursing
Collective Bargaining From the historical background, after the World War II, Budd, Warino, and
Patton (2004) informed that collective bargaining (CB) occurred as a result of extreme nursing
shortages, causing the poor economic and working condition for nurses. Initially not promoting the
CB since nursing was considered a calling more than an occupation, Budd et al. (2004) narrated that
after realizing the need to preserve the nursing profession and the nurses welfare, the American
Nurses Association [ANA] established the State Nurses Association to represent nurses in the
bargaining duties. Thus, collective bargaining existed to empower nurses in gaining autonomy over
their practice, control over essential resources, and protest against policies affecting patients safety.

Hepatitis C And C. C
When a doctor uses the term Hepatitis C or HCV, what comes to mind? Many people have little
to no knowledge of what it is. Is it deadly? Is there a cure? Is it a virus or disease? There are many
questions that enter the mind because there are many concerns associated with an unknown illness.
Several people wonder if the virus is similar to hepatitis A or B because there has been education
throughout the years that provides more awareness surrounding the two known viruses, but it is
discovered there are vast differences. Until recently, the general population was unaware that
another hepatitis virus acts as a silent killer. Unlike hepatitis A or B, hepatitis Cis a relatively new
disease that can go unnoticed until it is too late. The virus was initially named non A, non B
hepatitis because the virus was identified through numerous blood tests in the 1960s and 1970s (
Hepatitis C History ). The virus was given the name hepatitis C in the 1980s when the Center for
Disease Control was able to identify the virus ( Hepatitis C FAQ ). It was identified that the virus
enters the human body by entering through blood or bodily fluids and nestles in its permanent
home of the liver. This virus is a highly infectious bloodborne pathogen that can cause cirrhosis of
the liver and in some cases turn into liver cancer. At this time, there is no cure once the virus has
been transmitted. Even though the transmission rate is low, the first step in attacking the virus is to

Explain The Essence Of Homeostasis
1. Explain the essence of homeostasis. Why is it crucial for the bodily systems to maintain
homeostasis? Homeostasis is the property of a system where the variable which could be a
substance or temperature, is active and regulated to always remain constant. This regulation
occurs inside a defined environment. A primary example is a humans body temperature. It is
crucial for the bodily systems to maintain homeostasis because that is how cells and organs
function properly. A primary example is when people die from extreme conditions, such as,
freezing to death or dying from over heating. The body has to keep up to keep everything at
equilibrium. 2. Why one of the risks of diabetes mellitusis the diabetic coma, which results when...

Super low blood sugar is the most common cause of a diabetic coma. Diabetic ketoacidosis is
when your body uses fat instead of glucose for energy as a result of insufficient insulin. Ketone
bodies accumulate in the bloodstream and diabetic ketoacidosis occurs in both types of diabetes
but mostly common in Type 1. So it s best to not have an accumulation of ketone bodies to avoid
a diabetic coma. In type 2 diabetes there is diabetic hyperosmolar syndrome. This type of diabetes
is most common with older adults. The result of this condition is having increased levels of blood
sugar. 3. Describe these hormone actions of all calcium level regulating hormones as
physiological reflex pathways, identifying the stimulus, integrating center, efferent pathway, and

regulating blood calcium levels; it is released whenever blood calcium levels are low. PTH
increases blood calcium levels by stimulating osteoclasts, which break down bone to release
calcium into the blood stream. PTH increases blood calcium levels by increasing the amount of
calcium resorbed by the kidneys before it can be excreted in the urine. PTH increases blood calcium
levels by triggering the formation of calcitriol, which increases absorption of dietary calcium
through the intestines. Calcitonin, a hormone produced by the thyroid, acts in

House Of Sand And Fog And The American Dream
To many people, the United States is more than just a country; it s a place of ideals. To some,
those ideals are liberty and freedom. To others, the American Dream is democracy and unity
between all people. Many people, especially immigrants, see the many opportunities that
America offers as its greatest ideal. House of Sand and Fog, by Andre Dubus III, focuses
extensively on economic opportunity, telling the tale of former Iranian Colonel, Massoud
Behrani. Behrani hopes to strike it rich in the real estate market with a home he bought, so he
can work towards restoring his family s honor. Sadly, his dreams fall flat and his entire family
ends up dead. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, by Jamie Ford, is about social opportunity
America can offer. A young Chinese boy named Henry Lee becomes good friends with a
Japanese girl named Keiko during World War II, despite that their people have long been
enemies. When the government sends Keiko and her family away to an internment camp, Henry
is separated from perhaps his only friend. Both House of Sand and Fog and Hotel on the Corner
of Bitter and Sweet discuss the opportunities that America offers, and how sometimes these
opportunities fail people. Most people would see the American Dream as the ability to chase
economic success, and Colonel Behrani is no different. Behrani is not a very kind or likable
person, but in the end, he just wants to restore the wealth and social status that he once had by

We Land On The Moon Research Paper
We Landed on the Moon ... Allegedly
On July 20, 1969 American astronauts, Neil

theory that the moon landing was fake, and that it was really filmed in a studio. People think that
America wanted to be superior to Russia, so they faked it to show that they are more advanced in
technology associated with space travel. There is a great deal of evidence from the moon landing
that proves it is fake. During the moon landing astronaut Buzz Aldrin put down the American Flag
to show America was the first country to land on the moon. When he put the flag down the flag
waved. Except in space there is very little gravity, therefore if it was on the moon the flag wouldn t

When the moon landing happened it was during the Cold War. The Cold War was between the

The art piece captured what it meant to be a fauvist artist with its bright colors and unrealistic

represent the greatly valued art piece. The Red Room is an oil on canvas artwork that is
exceedingly two dimensional while still showing examples of space. The art portrays a woman
setting up a table within a highly saturated red room. The table and the wall paper are almost
indistinguishable if it weren t for the thin wobbly line that differentiated them. A blue branch like
pattern spans from the bottom of the canvas to the top while staying in the range of the table and
wall. Also part of the pattern are vases of flowers that are additionally outlined in black. On the
table are various circular fruits, mainly in the color yellow, green, orange, and red. Beside the fruit
are long round bottomed vases that are half full of some sort of elixir. The fruit and vases were
common to see in Matisse s work during that period, Matisse turned to a motif common in the
works created that year: a room decorated with

Essay Designing Babies
Designing Babies
Should we be designing babies? Designer babies are people who are genetically modified before
birth, (as an embryo) to change their sex, looks or possibly even personality!
Since the DNA code was cracked a couple of years ago, it has been made possible to change a
human embryo by injecting genes into it. These injected genes can change the sex, looks and
personality of that particular child when he / she is born. For example, you can currently choose
the sex of your child in the USA although it costs a hefty $ 2500.
Are these designer babies improving on nature? Improving on nature is a step forward for the
human race; in a word, evolution. Are we, by designing and ... Show more content on

The concept of designer babies has been around for a long time. You only have to look at works
of fiction such as Brave New World and Frankenstein to see the interest such a topic creates in
people s imagination. Now that this science has become a reality, it is increasingly possible to see
the advantages such a process will have for future generations.
Probably one of the most compelling arguments for the genetic engineering of humans would be
the recent high profile case of the Hashmi family. Nobody following the case could fail to be
moved by the genuine love and concern the Hashmi s have for their dying son Zain.
Without the birth of their designer baby, which by necessity would have a bone marrow match,
Zain s life would be short lived due to his rare genetic blood disorder, Thalassaemia. The Hashmi s
used a relatively new treatment called Pre implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), to insure that
Zain s brother would have a compatible blood type before he was replaced back into the mothers
uterus using IVF treatment.
Some people think that the Hashmis are putting an unnecessary burden on this child for the rest of
his life, but I am left thinking that the Hashmis will love and care for their new child, as much if
not more than many of their critics love their own children.
This new technology also allows

Fundamental Elements Of The Patient-Physician Relationship
The Hippocratic Oath puts forth a set of moral codes that require the doctor to put aside their
potential desire for being the smartest person in the room or the most successful surgeon, but
instead to focus on getting that one patient that is in front of them better, and nothing else. This
can be seen easily through the first set of statements in the oath. In a modern version of the oath
provided by pbs.org, it is clear to see these set of moral codes, I will respect the hard won
scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, I will apply, for the benefit of the
sick, all measures [that] are required, I will not be ashamed to say I know not, nor will I fail to
call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient s recovery (Lecture Notes)
These three examples alone show, clearly, that the doctor is supposed to put aside everything and
do everything that they can to heal the patient. These set of moral codes fit in well with the codes
that apply to the power of the patient that are seen in Fundamental Elements of the Patient Physician
Relationship. In the Fundamental Elements of the Patient Physician Relationship it is clear that
although the operating room might be the domain where the doctor or surgeon feels like they are
in charge, really, the patient s still in charge. The doctor or surgeon is really only a pawn that is
used in whatever way the patient wants. Almost all of the decisions are still up to the patient, and

American Me Jenna Character Analysis
American Me (1992) is a biographical drama directed and acted by Edward James Olmos. Olmos
main character, Santana, is a Chicano from East Los Angeles (L.A.), who at an early age was
introduced to the U.S. penal system and grew to become a leader of the Mexican Mafia prison
gang, La Eme. Within the belly of the U.S. penal system the young Santana learns that respect is
gained through acts of violence. To be considered with respect is the ultimate achievement in
Santana s environments/ home in East L.A. and in prison. Young Santana and two of his childhood
friends, J.D. and Mundo, form their own gang one evening. They decide to test their strength as a
unit by walking through a rival gang s territory, where they are chased. The three... Show more

The first evening in Juvenile hall, young Santana is held down and raped by a fellow inmate.
Rather than remain docile and accept repeat violation or the threat of death, Santana responds by
killing the rapist with his own shank. Santana s action is met with approval from his peers. This
is Santana s first experience earning respect . The punishment of an extended sentence was of
little consequence compared to the respect young Santa earned from this act of violence.
Santana has resolved that he found the answer (Olmos, 1992). He is conditioned at an early age
that violence in the guise of respect is an approved response to opposition or assault. Respect
ensures insulation from acts of violence from others, garners familial relationships, and provides
opportunity to gain power and wealth. As Santana matures and La Eme grows in power, so too
do the acts of violence necessary to maintain the respect of rival gangs and the members of his
own gang. Weakness or an action that could be perceived as weak by a member of La Eme was
intolerable, typically ending in their

Naming Alcohols in Chemistry
In chemistry, an alcohol is in the hydroxyl functional group ( OH) is bound to a carbon atom. In
particular, this carbon center should be saturated, having single bonds to three other atoms.
Important alcohols are the simple acyclic alcohols. Of those, ethanol (C2H5OH) is the type of
alcohol found in alcoholic beverages, and in common speech the word alcoholrefers specifically to
ethanol. When it comes to alcohol reactions the functional group of the alcohols is the hydroxyl
group OH. Unlike the alkyl halides, this group has two reactive covalent bonds, the C O bond and
the O H bond. The electronegativity of oxygen is greater than carbon and hydrogen. The covalent
bonds of this functional group are polarized so that oxygen is electron... Show more content on

In the monohydric alcohol group there is Methanol (wood alcohol), ethanol (alcohol), isopropyl
alcohol (rubbing alcohol), Butyl alcohol (butanol), pentanol (amyl alcohol), and hexadecan 1 ol

departments, as the administration s battle for the limited few individuals qualified and capable of
performing the required duties to fill their ranks. The improving economy, the current attitude in
society referencing policeofficers, a focus on negative media coverage, as well as non competitive

(Ali, 2017). The city of Houston Texas is just one of the cities scrambling to find officers, with

Corporal Punishment with Respect to the Private and Public...
1Introduction
Corporal punishment is the unlawful intentional act of causing harm by physically inflicting
punishment on the body of an offender or severely criticising the offender. There is a distinction in
common law between corporal punishment in the public sphere and in the private sphere.
Corporal punishment on children in the private sphere is administered by parents. It is legally
accepted in South Africa, provided that the requirements are met.
The public sphere s position is much different in the sense that the government along with all
schools have no authority to physically discipline school children anymore. Authority to exercise
corporal punishment often leads to abuse of power, child abuse and feelings of superiority. All...

Rex v Janke Janke ( Janke ) clarifies the rights parents have when corporally punishing their children
with the intention of teaching them a valuable lesson. The requirements for this defence are for it
to be moderate and reasonable. The reasonable requirement refers to the child having to wrongfully
do something or threaten to do so. The moderate requirement states that the punishment must be in
proportion to the age, build, health and gender of the child. Corporal punishment by parental
authority can only succeed as a defence if it meets these requirements, as well as having the
intention to discipline or educate the child.
3 1Arguments against parent s right of chastisement
The harm inflicted on a child when punishing him/her, violates the human rights of the child, which
states that every child should be protected from abuse or degradation in section 28(d) of the
Constitution. Another point of inconsistency the legalisation of corporal punishment in the private
sphere, is set out in section 39(3) of the Constitution that states: The Bill of rights does not deny the
existence of any other rights or freedoms that are recognised or conferred by common law,
customary law or legislation, to the extent that they are consistent with the Bill . The current
position of the private sphere is not in correspondence with the public sphere, even though they both
deal with corporal punishment. Confusion could be raised as

The Impact Of Television And Its Impact On Society
Throughout the years, TV has impacted us in several ways. Yet, who knows where TV will be
in our years to come. As we continue to become more technologically advanced, the use of
television will soon be a game changer. As we take a look back on the history of TV, we first
started off the television industry with black and white pictures. Since it was an upbringing at the
time, it was not as clear and the pictures would appear pixelated. Although that seemed to change
as devices such as cameras and scanning systems seemed to progress over time. In 1936 John Logie
Baird, an inventor of amplified mechanical televisions, had first started off with 240 lines. Now,
we live in a generation where we ve tremendously evolved in regards to our high definition as
1080 is the norm. As we move on from black and white, individuals were now introduced to color
television. It made TV more enjoyable and the quality continued to improve. Another
advancement that developed throughout the years would be time shifting. In other words, this
was known as video tape recorders. This device amazed individuals as they were able to record a
show and watch it at a more suitable time. However, DVDs soon took the place of VHS recorders
as it became more convenient. With all these technological improvements, the one that seemed to
have a greatest impact on society would be the introduction of digital television. The picture quality
was more clear and made TV worth watching. Also, people had

Intensive Individual and Group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
This article highlights the experience of a 46 year old woman with obsessive compulsive
disorder, and how adding cognitive behavioral therapy to her treatment benefits her. Obsessive
compulsive disorder is a disorder which affects approximately 2 to 3 percent of the population
(Salkovskis, 2007) (Taylor Reeder, 2015). Cognitive behavioral therapyis a method of treatment
recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, with the results
proving to be effective ( Abramowitz, Foa, Franklin, 2003; Anderson Rees, 2007; Department of
Health, 2001; NICE, 2006; Storch et al., 2008) (Taylor Reeder, 2015). Likewise, group cognitive
behavioral therapy is a proven effective treatment for OCD, with similar results shown from
individual cognitive behavioral therapy (Hougaard, 2009) (Anderson Rees, 2007) (Taylor Reeder,
2015).
The participant completed a questionnaire prior to treatment, and then again upon commencement
of treatment (Taylor Reeder, 2015). Ultimately she completed a total of 18 hours of therapy over
the course of four weeks (Taylor Reeder, 2015). During the course of treatment, the participant did
indicate improvements in her OCD and anxiety. However, her improvements did tend to fluctuate
over the course of treatment (Taylor Reeder, 2015).

Parents complain about the consequences are too strict when it comes down to removing students

Background And Identity
Sometimes it is best to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Life can carry you away
like a river with commitments and responsibilities and in a blink of an eye, the river will end. It
is imperative that one fights the current and takes a step back to realize what life is actually
about and who one truly is. High school is like that river, and it takes you away with all the time
in clubs, sports, and hours of studying you invest. Defining who the real me is difficult because
there is barely any time to explore myself. Nonetheless, my background and identity allow me to

The Physics Of An Experiment
In 1964, John Bell set out to test the arguments originally described in the EPR paper and later
more eloquently describe by David Bohm. In the paper by Bohm, he shows how one could
conceive of an experiment to mirror the conceptual situation put forth in the EPR paper, by
examining the dissociation of a diatomic molecule whose total spin angular momentum is zero. For
example, the hydrogen molecule into two hydrogen atoms. In the experiment, the hydrogen atoms
would separate after interaction, in different free directions. It is here that an experimenter would
measure the spin components whose values are anti correlated after dissociation. If we define our
axis of measuring as the one at right angles to the particles flight, then we can have a consistent
measurement. If the measure of hydrogen atom one yields spin up, measurement along the same
axis for the other atom would yield spin down, to be consistent with total spin equal to zero. This is
an interesting experiment because of the incompatibility of spin components makes it analogous to
position and momentum conjugates. Bohm eventually went on to publish a more sophisticated
paper with plausible instrumentation to test his theories with Yakir Aharonov in 1957. A thought
experiment that is discusses the ideas of Bell s inequalities are as follows. Consider two
observers that are initially together and agree that they will be given red or green balls at regular
intervals, from this they conclude that only red or green 4

Advantages Of Production Planning And Scheduling
SCHEDULING AND PRODUCTION PLAN
To maximize productivity, every company needs a sound production plan. However, effective
planning is a complex process that covers a wide variety of activities to ensure that materials,
equipment and human resources are available when and where they are needed. Production planning
is like a roadmap: It helps you know where you are going and how long it will take you to get there.
Here are some advantages of an effective production plan and scheduling.
пѓјReduced labor costs by eliminating wasted time and improving process flow.
пѓјReduced inventory costs by decreasing the need for safety stocks and excessive work in process
inventories.
пѓјOptimized equipment usage and increased capacity.
пѓјImproved on time deliveries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Communicate the plan
After you have determined that you have met the criteria to start production, you will need to
communicate the plan to the employees who will implement it. You can plan the production on
spreadsheets, databases or software, which usually speeds the process up. However, a visual
representation is preferred as a means to communicate operation schedules to floor employees.
Some businesses post work orders on boards or use computer monitors to display the floor
schedule. The schedule also needs to be available to employees ahead of time and kept up to date.
Consider change
One of the many challenges of production planning and scheduling is following up with changes
to orders. Changes happen every day. You will need to adjust your plan in line with these changes
and advise the plant. Dealing with change is not always easy and may take as much effort as
creating the original production plan. You will need to follow up with the various departments
involved in order to rectify any problems. As well, computer software can be helpful in tracking
changes, inventory, employees and

and a boiling point of 179.4 В°C. It has several health concerns such as eyes, nose, and throat
irritation. If inhaled it could cause lung edema. The chemical can also spread to important organs
such as your heart, stomach, lungs, muscles. It could also go into your bloodstream. Most
importantly human data are considered in with the evidence of cancer by the exposure to benzyl

Spirit Possession
This week I have been struggling with centering my paper topic. I want to explore the use of
psychedelics in spirit possessions. More specifically, I want to explore the validity of drug
induced shamanistic experiences like in the case of Amazonian Shamans and their use of
Ayahuasca. But I keep running into the problem of shifting my focus into something that doesn t
feel, at least to me, like topics of spirit possession. This is why I have devoted most of my
research into attempting to define the type of spirit possession I am going to be talking about. I
ran across an article by Emma Cohen that tackles this very task, she states that there are two main
forms of possession. One is pathogenic which results from the operation possession concepts result
from the operation of cognitive tools that deal with the representation of contamination (both
positive and negative); the presence of the spirit entity is typically (but not always) manifested in
the form of illness. The other is executive, this type of possession mobilizes cognitive tools that
deal with the world of intentional agents; the spirit entity is typically represented as taking over the
host s executive control, or replacing the host s mind (or intentional agency), thus assuming control
of bodily behaviors. For the purposes of the paper, I think that I am going to be using both models.

These pathogenic possessions are then recognized by an executive possession, usually drug or
ceremonially induced, that recognizes the parasitic spirits and cures or expels them from the
patient. I want to compare this to every day use of these drugs in western

A Brief Note On Confirmed Cerebrovascular Accident ( Cva )
To assess this patient who has a confirmed cerebrovascular accident (CVA) due to right middle
cerebral artery occlusion, a formal measure that can be utilized is the Ross Information Processing
Assessment Geriatric, Second Edition (RIPA G:2). The RIPA G:2 is used to assess the geriatric
population and can classify, define, and measure their cognitive linguistic deficits (Fogle Ross
Swain, 2012). The RIPA G:2 is a valid assessment measure due to its high reliability and validity
(Fogle Ross Swain, 2012). This assessment includes seven subtests, which incorporate immediate
memory, temporal orientation, spatial orientation, recalling general information, situational
knowledge, categorical vocabulary, and listening comprehension (Fogle Ross Swain, 2012).
The connectionist model describes the different areas of the brain and how they process particular
types of information (Brookshire McNeil, 2015). We have a greater understanding of left
hemispheric damage. For example, if an individual has damage to their posterior inferior third
frontal gyrus of the left hemisphere, they will present with Broca s aphasia, which evidences as
motor planning deficits. While scientists and researchers have a general understanding of what the
right hemisphere is responsible for, we have yet to understand specific areas precise responsibilities.
Generally, we recognize the right hemisphere is responsible for behavior and cognition, perception,
recognition and expression, attention, and

Tattooing in Samoa
Introduction: why does this matter? Origin story and meaning The Samoans are an ethnic group
that reside in Oceania, on the islands of Samoa, in an area of Polynesia. Samoa has been
occupied by these indigenous people for about 3000 years, when they came from the west,
occupying the islands of Fiji and Tonga around the same time (Barnes and Hunt 2005, 243). They
carry many traditions with their culture, however, I will be discussing their tradition of tattooing.
Tattooing is the process of inserting ink pigment into someone s skin to create a permanent design
on them. For Samoans, tattoos are much more significant than just a pretty piece of artwork, they
are, according to Ryman (2004), a right of passage. I will be reviewing the importance of cultural
tattoos, the process of being tattooed, and the varying origin stories of how tattooing first came to
Samoa. Samoan tattooing matters because it is a cultural tradition that has been practiced in Samoa
for over 3000 years (Ellis 2006, 698).
Demographics:
Samoa is divided into two, separate nations, The Independent State of Samoa (referred to as
Samoa) and Territory of American Samoa(referred to as American Samoa). Samoa, formerly known
as Western Samoa, is an independent nation based on a unitary parliamentary democracy, which
consists of a legislative, executive, and judiciary branch (Government of Samoa). Samoa is made
up of two, main islands,

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Carnival Corporation
Carnival Corporation PLC
Internal Assessment
Alyssia Ashley Olarte
School of Travel
University of Hawaii at Manoa
TIM 350
November 17, 2017 Key Internal Forces
Carnival Corporation plc is a global contender with the title of the world s largest cruise and leisure
travel company. The goal of this assessment is to analyze the strengths and weaknesses with the
financial ratio analysis of the company along with conducting an internal factor evaluation matrix to
view the status of the company in comparison with their top competitor, Royal Caribbean Cruises
Ltd.
Top strengths that Carnival Corporation plc has to their advantage would be their strong brand and
major control of the market share. Containing a strong brand portfolio with a total of 10 well
known brands operating about 102 ships. Such brands include Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland
America Line, Princess Cruises and Seabourn in North America; AIDA Cruises, Costa Cruises,
Cunard, Ibero Cruises, P O Cruises (Australia) and P O Cruises (UK) under the Europe,
Austrailia Asia segments. Along with Holland America Princess Alaska Tour and the Canadian
Yukon (Olarte, 2017). The company is also the largest cruise company in the world in terms of
cruise passengers with a market share of about 47% followed by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd with
a market share of 23% (Cederholm, 2015).
Example of weaknesses that Carnival Corporation plc has is their safety record. In early 2012,
the Costa Concordia struck off the coast of Isola del Giglio, Italy. In 2013, Carnival Cruise Line
s Triumph reported a fire, which left the ship adrift in the Gulf of Mexico (Carnival Corporation
plc SWOT Analysis, 2016). Among the other cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines have notably been
the worse. In 2009, the Center for Disease Control tracked all major outbreaks, about 56% on
Carnival cruise lines compared to a 48% average market share from 2009 2011. The company is
also accounted for worse safety record for persons lost at sea. Since 2000, about 179 disappearances
happened with Carnival Cruise Line alone (Levin , B., Jones, J., Slade, T., 2012).
Strengths:
1.Carnival Corporation plc has more revenue per employee ratio than Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

The beauty of blue eyes
The Bluest Eyes is a story of a black girl named Pecola who dreams of having the ideal family
portrayed in the story of Dick and Jane the white American family: She comes to realize that this
life she dreams of is unattainable since she is black in a white society. She is enamored with
Shirley Temple, a beautiful blue eyed white girl. Pecola feels that if she has blue eyes she would
be beautiful and endeared to others. Morrison s novel describes how Pecola and her family
strive to live up to the white standards that are imposed on them by a white society but find this
goal to be unattainable. Pecola is made to feel that her blackness is ugly and not valued, only to
have her feeling validated by others. Despite what she experiences, Pecola never gives up on her
dream of beautiful blue eyes, only leading her into despair. The story begins with the description
of Pecola s family : they live in a storefront because they were poor and black and they stayed there
because they believed they were ugly (Morrison 38). Unfortunately, Pecola s feelings of ugliness
are reinforced by her own parents; her father Cholly s ugliness came from his despair, dissipation,
and violence directed toward pretty things and weak people (Morrison 38). Pecola states the
following regarding her Mother Pauline: But I knowed she was ugly. Head full of pretty hair, but
Lord she was ugly (Morrison 126). Pecola was doomed to a life of self doubt and

a history novel this theme stands evident. The preface shows how the book will take on the history
of the American Revolution and shortly afterwards. It also shows the two fundamental party s of
United States Government, the Federalists and Republicans. The author deems this point in
American history the most important stating, ... They were actors in a historical drama written by

presidential race leaving Jefferson as the Vice President. Even though Jefferson and Adams had
their obvious physical differences, Adams was short and chubby while Jefferson was tall and

criteria was revolutionary war status. Adams had the upper hand their because he had dedicated
his entire life to the revolution. The one concept that the two disagreed on was the decision of a
monarchical power. Adams oddly liked the idea of a president that could run for as many terms as
he pleases. He even thought of calling the president His Majesty which led Jefferson to disagree.

Drought In The Mississippi River Delta Wetlands
Wetlands are extremely valuable to society. Wetlands can decrease flooding, remove pollutants
from water, recharge groundwater, protect shorelines, provide habitat for wildlife, and serve
important recreational and cultural functions. The Mississippi River Delta ecosystems alone
provide at least $12 47 billion in benefits to people every year. If wetlands are lost, the cost of
replacing them can be extremely expensive, if at all possible. Lost wetlands can result in a city
having to invest more money in drinking water treatment or higher costs to citizens for flood
insurance. Wetlands act as natural sponges that trap and slowly release surface water over time.
This ability to store water in times of heavy rainfall means that... Show more content on

What are the economic, social and political reasons for Catalonia s desire to secede from Spain?
Since Catalonia s post Franco reinstatement in 1980, September 11th has been a day to celebrate
the end of the War of the Spanish Succession. La Dia Nacional de Catalunya, or The National Day
of Catalonia, has never been celebrated like it was on September 11th, 2012. An estimated 1.5
million people demanded independence for Catalonia on the streets of Barcelona, waving the new
Catalan Independence flag. The slogan for the rally was Catalonia, a new European state . In
November 2014, Catalan nationalists held an unofficial poll, and 80% voted in favor of
independence. In addition to the unofficial vote, Catalan nationalist parties won ... Show more

With over 1,000 years of distinct regional history, their own language, a huge population and strong
economy, many Catalan s believe that they are a separate nation already, and want to legitimize it.
Catalan national parties have been a very powerful force in Catalan politics since the reconvention
of the Catalan government, or the Generalitat, in 1977. In 2012, the Generalitat was ruled by the
CiU (ConvergГ©ncia I UniГі) and Arturo Mas, CiU s leader. Mas s push for an early vote in
November 2014 is an example of how Catalan politics are playing a large role in the movement
towards independence. Although many Spaniards argue that Catalonia already has their own
regional government, Catalan s argue that their interests are not properly represented in Madrid.
There has never been a Catalan Prime Minister, and the Catalan s believe that Catalonia will not be
served equally under the Spanish national government.
The objective of my thesis is to better understand the factors that underlie Catalonia s desire to
secede from Spain. Borrowing from academic literature, this thesis will identify the economic,
ethnic/social and political factors that have played a role in the movement towards Catalan
independence. The method for my thesis will be a case study and historical methodology and
possibly a non participant observation. This methodology will allow me to address the research

Danilo Blandon s Use Of Crack Cocaine In The United States
In 1996, Gary Webb claimed that black men were incarcerated for charges dealing with selling
cocaine because of the CIA. Thousands of young black men are serving long prison sentences for
selling cocaine a drug that was virtually unobtainable in black neighborhoods before members of
the CIA s army started bringing it into South Central in the 1980s at bargain basement prices. This
claim outraged members of the black community because it reaffirmed suspicions of the
government intentionally tainting their community with crack. ... about 2,000 people converged on

the idea, several weeks before Ross s trial, that the CIA was involved with Blandon s drug

Questions Fenster asked fueled the material Webb used in his articles to support his claims. If he
did give Fenster this idea, and Fenster didn t come to the conclusion himself it makes the material
used in the article illegitimate.
The Washington Post continues on to say, ... No evidence of specific transactions or of explicit
financial links has emerged to back up Blandon s and Menses s claims of sending money to the
rebels.
If there isn t evidence of financial links to back up Blandon s and Menses s claims, then Blandon
might have not told the truth to the grand jury in 1994. It is another possibility that Blandon and
Menses kept the profits made from cocaine trafficking and spent it on themselves.

Character Analysis Of Willy Loman In Death Of A Salesman
Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller is a tragic hero. A tragic hero is
someone who has a judgement error and inevitably ends up destroying himself. Miller believes
that the common man makes the best tragic hero as we want to be seen as a image and or not be
thrown away. That fear, which he believes is very strong today, is what makes us the best tragic hero
. I would take the stance that Willy Loman is a tragic hero. Willy starts to show signs of flaw of
judgement, reversal of fortune, and excessive pride. The biggest flaw Willy has is his judgement
error. His inability to enjoy the present world instead of living/chasing is fantasy one. It s about

The Importance Of Religions In William Shakespeare s Hamlet
During Shakespeare s time, the two major religions in Elizabethan
England were the Catholic and Protestant religions. The convictions and
beliefs in these different religions were so strong that they led to the
executions of many adherents to both of these. Adhering to the wrong
religion brought risk to personal wealth, freedom, and life. Elizabethan
Protestants also believed that only God could forgive. William
Shakespeare s famous tragic play, Hamlet was written during this era.
Hamlet introduces us to religion and how the religious thought and
decisions shaped the impact of the actions of the people in this
play.Hamlet, a play about incest and murder depicts the effects of sin and
afterlife. O, that this too too solid flesh would melt.......But break, my heart; for I
must hold my tongue (Hamlet 64). Hamlet s wish is for his flesh to melt into
dew, but if only God hadn t made a law against suicide. He describes his
father as an excellent king. However, in less than two months after his
father s death his mother marries his fathers brother, which he calls an
incest. He compares his father and uncle to God and beast, describing his
father as stronger and mightier than his uncle. This shows how important
religion was in the 16th century. To be or not to be that is the
question......be all my sins remembered. One of Shakespeare s famous
soliloquy, Hamlet in his speech is considering killing himself. He is also

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of The New York Diet The New York Diet is quickly gaining popularity in a world where fad diets overpower the concept of good nutrition and exercise. David Kirsch, a celebrity trainer, has recently developed the New York diet. This is a fairly strict diet based on the emphasis of eating and living a low carbohydrate lifestyle. The New York diet is based heavily around the concept of cutting sugar and non essential fats out of one s diet. This diet tries to completely cut all sweets such as soda, candy, sugar, and even fruit. It also targets unhealthy beverages such as alcohol and coffee. Another emphasis, that may be puzzling to some, is the complete elimination of Dairy foods, such as milk, cheese, and yogurt in most cases. There are a variety of pros and cons... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In early and mid adulthood, many adults need to begin thinking about their brain health and ways in which we can make natural improvements with diet, exercise, and other healthy lifestyle choices. If you have a family history of disorders associated with low levels of dopamine, you may want to consider how you can naturally increase dopamine levels in your own body to help improve your aging outcomes. As a neurotransmitter in the brain, dopamine is vital to our memory, cognitive function, and even to our voluntary movement capabilities. While we can not directly increase dopamine naturally, there are specific steps we can take to help our bodies boost the production of dopamine more effectively. Eating foods, for example, that are rich in tyrosine is one way in which we help to provide our bodies with the precursors need to naturally create dopamine for use in the days and weeks to come. If are looking for ways in which to naturally increase dopamine levels in your body, consider eating diets that are right in meats, cheese, and even in soy based products as all of these foods contain high levels of tyrosine that will provide your body with the foundation on which to boost dopamine levels. Of course, if you have food intolerance to any of these items, and especially if you suffer from contraindicated health conditions, then do not make these consumptions unless you have discussed them first with your primary ... • 6. The Discovery Of Gold And Australia The discovery of gold in Australia dramatically changed the course of our steadily developing country. The gold rush massively impacted every aspect of the nation, although not all these changes were positive. With the gold rush came the introduction of more diverse culture, increased population and infrastructure. Before the 1850 s, Australiawas a prison colony meant as a punishment for convicts of the British. However, in just the fifty years after the beginning of the Australian gold rush, Australia became an independent country. From a wilderness inhabited by convicts to a free and federated nation in less than half a century. Without the gold rush, our society wouldn t be what it is today. The discovery of gold sparked a massive influx of immigration to the still forming country of Australia. During the very early years of the gold rush, NSW and Victoria were the centre for gold mining and attracted thousands of hopeful diggers. This rapid introduction of new people had many impacts on Australian society. People came from different points of the world to mine on Australia s gold rich fields. The majority of were British but many others came from Germany, Italy, France, China and even America. Not only that, design, as a part of the arts industries, also need aesthetic judgment. That is why visual designer came up. In this essay, I will contrast graphic design with interface design , compare them in three different ways including historical technological and conceptual development and discuss the connection as well as development potential of them. In any case, the development trend of two kinds of design industries is inseparable. And throughout all of the contemporary design styles, I prefer flat design. If we contrast graphic design and interface differently, we can consider the biggest difference is that graphic design can allow convey a little abstract , which is brand oriented, while interface design is totally customer oriented. Although the function of both of them is communicate information. For instance, here is a picture of Soviet poster called Beat the whites with Red wedge (El Lissitzky, 1920). It simplify the composition and structure to become geometric abstractive colorful formal elements, which is make sure that the poster will have intensive aesthetic feeling and visual impact. • 8. Bank Of The New Edition Of Macbeth In the political cartoon called by the name of New edition of Macbeth. Bank oh s Ghost a very ghastly scene was unfolding. The primary context for the painting itself was the Panic of 1837 that occurred just as Andrew Jackson was leaving office in 1836, leaving the venerable Martin Van Buren to fend for himself in a mess not of his own doing. The Panic of 1837 was a consequence of many factors sprawling from Jackson s election in 1828 to 1836. The first of these factors was the bank war between the Jackson administration and the 2nd national bank of the United States created by the market revolution in 1816. The bank symbolized the hopes and fears inspired by the market revolution. The expansion of banking helped to finance the nation s economic development. But many Americans, including Jackson, distrusted bankers as non producers who contributed nothing to the nation s wealth but profited from the labor of others. The tendency of banks to over issue paper money, whose deterioration in value reduced the real income of wage earners, reinforced this conviction. Jackson himself had long believed the hard money gold and silver was the only honest currency. Nonetheless, when he assumed office there was little reason to believe that the Bank War would become the major event of his presidency.1 Page 388 of Give Me Liberty The Bank War and its Results Therefore, the consequence of Jackson declaring war on the 2nd bank of the United States was in 1832 the head of the bank ... This is ultimately a result of by the greenhouse effect ...which is caused by the interaction between earth s atmosphere and incoming radiation from the sun. Greenhouse gases primarily consist of carbon dioxidehowever others such as ...water vapour, methane, and nitrous oxide... are also associated to the greenhouse effect. Scientifically, solar radiation passes through the atmosphere to the surface of earth, where it is absorbed and then radiated upward as heat is the result of the high emission of greenhouse gases. The most substantial and common way of emission is through the burning of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity production. • 11. God Was Wrong, Support Mountaintop Removal God Was Wrong, Support Mountaintop Removal Coal in the United States has long been the #1 producer of energy. Massive seams of coal are found in the Appalachian Mountains, and our reliance on this fossil fuel has meant devastation for many mountain residents and over 500 mountains. As our society advances, the need for more energy advances. What were once beautiful rolling hills are now flattened plateaus reminiscent of a landscape you would see in the desert. We as a nation have only short term interest in our environment, and choose to ignore the many warning signs this planet continues to offer us. Left in our path of destruction are the many residents of Appalachia and a landscape that begs us for forgiveness. Mountaintop removal is process where the tops of mountains are removed with explosives in order to extract coal from inside the mountain. The debris created by the explosions is discarded in a valley, which is then called fill material. A loophole in the Clean Water Actreclassified the waste created by mountaintop removal waste as valley fill, which in turn greatly increased extraction of coal from mountains (225). These valleys usually contain streams which become buried underneath fill, causing much of the natural habitat to vanish and poisoning what streams are left. The older and more traditional method was to dig inside the mountain through a tunnel network which was more time consuming and required much more personnel. Of course, when companies ... • 14. The Value Of Vengeance In Beowulf Vengeance is an important value that causes misfortune in the story of Beowulf. It brings not only Beowulf, but many others, fame and glory, plus, wealth as well. It is not a sustainable value for it brings everyone in the story only destruction. The tribes that have been bonded together by this value get destroyed but it. The value of courage is tied into the story since almost the entire story is based on vengeance. When Beowulfis helping Hrothgar get his vengeance, he attacks Grendel, saw that his strength was deserting him, his claws, Bound fast, Higlac s brave follower tearing at his hands. (Beowulf, page 36). Beowulf fights Grendel with his hands because he promised Hrothgar that he would help him obtain his vengeance. Beowulf gets his fame, wealth and glory for his victory over Grendel which was achievable through Hrothgar s desire for vengeance against the monster. After the battle with Grendel, Hrothgar spoke to Beowulf, Glory is now yours, Forever and ever; your courage has earned it, And your strength. (Beowulf, page 42). Hrothgar praises Beowulf for granting his desire of vengeance on Grendel and awards him. He tells Beowulf that he has earned glory and wealth by helping him in destroying Grendel. Grendel s mother is saddened and angered when she finds out her son is dead and proceeds to Herot: But a monster still lived, and meant revenge. (Beowulf, page 56). Collective Bargaining In Nursing Collective Bargaining From the historical background, after the World War II, Budd, Warino, and Patton (2004) informed that collective bargaining (CB) occurred as a result of extreme nursing shortages, causing the poor economic and working condition for nurses. Initially not promoting the CB since nursing was considered a calling more than an occupation, Budd et al. (2004) narrated that after realizing the need to preserve the nursing profession and the nurses welfare, the American Nurses Association [ANA] established the State Nurses Association to represent nurses in the bargaining duties. Thus, collective bargaining existed to empower nurses in gaining autonomy over their practice, control over essential resources, and protest against policies affecting patients safety. Several people wonder if the virus is similar to hepatitis A or B because there has been education throughout the years that provides more awareness surrounding the two known viruses, but it is discovered there are vast differences. Until recently, the general population was unaware that another hepatitis virus acts as a silent killer. Unlike hepatitis A or B, hepatitis Cis a relatively new disease that can go unnoticed until it is too late. The virus was initially named non A, non B hepatitis because the virus was identified through numerous blood tests in the 1960s and 1970s ( Hepatitis C History ). The virus was given the name hepatitis C in the 1980s when the Center for Disease Control was able to identify the virus ( Hepatitis C FAQ ). It was identified that the virus enters the human body by entering through blood or bodily fluids and nestles in its permanent home of the liver. This virus is a highly infectious bloodborne pathogen that can cause cirrhosis of the liver and in some cases turn into liver cancer. To others, the American Dream is democracy and unity between all people. Many people, especially immigrants, see the many opportunities that America offers as its greatest ideal. House of Sand and Fog, by Andre Dubus III, focuses extensively on economic opportunity, telling the tale of former Iranian Colonel, Massoud Behrani. Behrani hopes to strike it rich in the real estate market with a home he bought, so he can work towards restoring his family s honor. Sadly, his dreams fall flat and his entire family ends up dead. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, by Jamie Ford, is about social opportunity America can offer. A young Chinese boy named Henry Lee becomes good friends with a Japanese girl named Keiko during World War II, despite that their people have long been enemies. When the government sends Keiko and her family away to an internment camp, Henry is separated from perhaps his only friend. Both House of Sand and Fog and Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet discuss the opportunities that America offers, and how sometimes these opportunities fail people. My recreation of the RedRoom uses the same intensity of color, line, shape, form, texture, space, unity, balance, contrast, emphasis, rhythm, and proportion to represent the greatly valued art piece. Probably one of the most compelling arguments for the genetic engineering of humans would be the recent high profile case of the Hashmi family. Nobody following the case could fail to be moved by the genuine love and concern the Hashmi s have for their dying son Zain. Without the birth of their designer baby, which by necessity would have a bone marrow match, Zain s life would be short lived due to his rare genetic blood disorder, Thalassaemia. Fundamental Elements Of The Patient-Physician Relationship The Hippocratic Oath puts forth a set of moral codes that require the doctor to put aside their potential desire for being the smartest person in the room or the most successful surgeon, but instead to focus on getting that one patient that is in front of them better, and nothing else. This can be seen easily through the first set of statements in the oath. In a modern version of the oath provided by pbs.org, it is clear to see these set of moral codes, I will respect the hard won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, I will not be ashamed to say I know not, nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient s recovery (Lecture Notes) These three examples alone show, clearly, that the doctor is supposed to put aside everything and do everything that they can to heal the patient. These set of moral codes fit in well with the codes that apply to the power of the patient that are seen in Fundamental Elements of the Patient Physician Relationship. In the Fundamental Elements of the Patient Physician Relationship it is clear that although the operating room might be the domain where the doctor or surgeon feels like they are in charge, really, the patient s still in charge. The doctor or surgeon is really only a pawn that is used in whatever way the patient wants. Almost all of the decisions are still up to the patient, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Corporal Punishment with Respect to the Private and Public... 1Introduction Corporal punishment is the unlawful intentional act of causing harm by physically inflicting punishment on the body of an offender or severely criticising the offender. There is a distinction in common law between corporal punishment in the public sphere and in the private sphere. Corporal punishment on children in the private sphere is administered by parents. It is legally accepted in South Africa, provided that the requirements are met. The public sphere s position is much different in the sense that the government along with all schools have no authority to physically discipline school children anymore. Authority to exercise corporal punishment often leads to abuse of power, child abuse and feelings of superiority. All... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rex v Janke Janke ( Janke ) clarifies the rights parents have when corporally punishing their children with the intention of teaching them a valuable lesson. The requirements for this defence are for it to be moderate and reasonable. The reasonable requirement refers to the child having to wrongfully do something or threaten to do so. The moderate requirement states that the punishment must be in proportion to the age, build, health and gender of the child. Corporal punishment by parental authority can only succeed as a defence if it meets these requirements, as well as having the intention to discipline or educate the child. 3 1Arguments against parent s right of chastisement The harm inflicted on a child when punishing him/her, violates the human rights of the child, which states that every child should be protected from abuse or degradation in section 28(d) of the Constitution. Another point of inconsistency the legalisation of corporal punishment in the private sphere, is set out in section 39(3) of the Constitution that states: The Bill of rights does not deny the existence of any other rights or freedoms that are recognised or conferred by common law, customary law or legislation, to the extent that they are consistent with the Bill . The current position of the private sphere is not in correspondence with the public sphere, even though they both deal with corporal punishment. Confusion could be raised as ... • 37. The Impact Of Television And Its Impact On Society Throughout the years, TV has impacted us in several ways. Yet, who knows where TV will be in our years to come. As we continue to become more technologically advanced, the use of television will soon be a game changer. As we take a look back on the history of TV, we first started off the television industry with black and white pictures. Since it was an upbringing at the time, it was not as clear and the pictures would appear pixelated. Although that seemed to change as devices such as cameras and scanning systems seemed to progress over time. In 1936 John Logie Baird, an inventor of amplified mechanical televisions, had first started off with 240 lines. Now, we live in a generation where we ve tremendously evolved in regards to our high definition as 1080 is the norm. As we move on from black and white, individuals were now introduced to color television. It made TV more enjoyable and the quality continued to improve. Another advancement that developed throughout the years would be time shifting. In other words, this was known as video tape recorders. This device amazed individuals as they were able to record a show and watch it at a more suitable time. However, DVDs soon took the place of VHS recorders as it became more convenient. With all these technological improvements, the one that seemed to have a greatest impact on society would be the introduction of digital television. The picture quality was more clear and made TV worth watching. Also, people had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Physics Of An Experiment In 1964, John Bell set out to test the arguments originally described in the EPR paper and later more eloquently describe by David Bohm. In the paper by Bohm, he shows how one could conceive of an experiment to mirror the conceptual situation put forth in the EPR paper, by examining the dissociation of a diatomic molecule whose total spin angular momentum is zero. For example, the hydrogen molecule into two hydrogen atoms. In the experiment, the hydrogen atoms would separate after interaction, in different free directions. It is here that an experimenter would measure the spin components whose values are anti correlated after dissociation. If we define our axis of measuring as the one at right angles to the particles flight, then we can have a consistent measurement. If the measure of hydrogen atom one yields spin up, measurement along the same axis for the other atom would yield spin down, to be consistent with total spin equal to zero. This is an interesting experiment because of the incompatibility of spin components makes it analogous to position and momentum conjugates. Bohm eventually went on to publish a more sophisticated paper with plausible instrumentation to test his theories with Yakir Aharonov in 1957. But I keep running into the problem of shifting my focus into something that doesn t feel, at least to me, like topics of spirit possession. This is why I have devoted most of my research into attempting to define the type of spirit possession I am going to be talking about. I ran across an article by Emma Cohen that tackles this very task, she states that there are two main forms of possession. One is pathogenic which results from the operation possession concepts result from the operation of cognitive tools that deal with the representation of contamination (both positive and negative); the presence of the spirit entity is typically (but not always) manifested in the form of illness. The other is executive, this type of possession mobilizes cognitive tools that deal with the world of intentional agents; the spirit entity is typically represented as taking over the host s executive control, or replacing the host s mind (or intentional agency), thus assuming control of bodily behaviors. Origin story and meaning The Samoans are an ethnic group that reside in Oceania, on the islands of Samoa, in an area of Polynesia. Samoa has been occupied by these indigenous people for about 3000 years, when they came from the west, occupying the islands of Fiji and Tonga around the same time (Barnes and Hunt 2005, 243). They carry many traditions with their culture, however, I will be discussing their tradition of tattooing. Tattooing is the process of inserting ink pigment into someone s skin to create a permanent design on them. For Samoans, tattoos are much more significant than just a pretty piece of artwork, they are, according to Ryman (2004), a right of passage. I will be reviewing the importance of cultural tattoos, the process of being tattooed, and the varying origin stories of how tattooing first came to Samoa. Samoan tattooing matters because it is a cultural tradition that has been practiced in Samoa for over 3000 years (Ellis 2006, 698). Demographics: Samoa is divided into two, separate nations, The Independent State of Samoa (referred to as Samoa) and Territory of American Samoa(referred to as American Samoa). Roberto Suro and Walter Pincus, journalists for The Washington Post, have years of experience. Suro has written books on immigration, and is a professor at University of Southern California. • 57. Character Analysis Of Willy Loman In Death Of A Salesman Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller is a tragic hero. A tragic hero is someone who has a judgement error and inevitably ends up destroying himself. Miller believes that the common man makes the best tragic hero as we want to be seen as a image and or not be thrown away. That fear, which he believes is very strong today, is what makes us the best tragic hero . I would take the stance that Willy Loman is a tragic hero. Willy starts to show signs of flaw of judgement, reversal of fortune, and excessive pride. The biggest flaw Willy has is his judgement error. His inability to enjoy the present world instead of living/chasing is fantasy one. It s about being impressive. You know what I mean? And he s not a very impressive ... HOWARD: Now Willy, you never averaged WILLY: I averaged a hundred and seventy dollars a week in the year of 1928! (Miller 64) Willy was sure that he was amazing at his job even though it was untrue. Yelling at howard, Willy most likely lost his job right here in this instance as Howard was already tired of Willy since he did nothing but mislead. He no longer has income and can provide for his family because of his actions. Even when Willy gets job offer from Charley, he just denies the offer for no real justifiable reason. CHARLEY: You want a job? WILLY: I got a job, I told you that. [After a slight pause] What the hell are you offering me a job for? CHARLEY: Don t get insulted. WILLY: Don t insult me (Miller 29) Even in the circumstances that Willy s in, he decides to not take the job because he believes to be better than Charley. His own actions lead him to his downfall. Pride is also a big factor in Willy s character. His pride kept him from moving forward to get back on his feet. CHARLEY: I offered you a job. You can make fifty dollars a week. And I won t send you on the road. WILLY: I ve got a job. CHARLEY: Without pay? What kind of a job is without pay? [He rises] Now look kid, enough is enough. I m no genius but I know when I m being insulted. WILLY: Insulted! CHARLEY: Why don t you want to work for me? WILLY: What s the matter with you? I ve got a job! The convictions and beliefs in these different religions were so strong that they led to the executions of many adherents to both of these. Adhering to the wrong religion brought risk to personal wealth, freedom, and life. Elizabethan Protestants also believed that only God could forgive. William Shakespeare s famous tragic play, Hamlet was written during this era. Hamlet introduces us to religion and how the religious thought and decisions shaped the impact of the actions of the people in this play.Hamlet, a play about incest and murder depicts the effects of sin and afterlife. O, that this too too solid flesh would melt.......But break, my heart; for I must hold my tongue (Hamlet 64). Hamlet s wish is for his flesh to melt into dew, but if only God hadn t made a law against suicide. He describes his father as an excellent king. However, in less than two months after his father s death his mother marries his fathers brother, which he calls an incest. He compares his father and uncle to God and beast, describing his father as stronger and mightier than his uncle. This shows how important religion was in the 16th century. To be or not to be that is the question......be all my sins remembered. One of Shakespeare s famous soliloquy, Hamlet in his speech is considering killing himself. He is also
