Motivation Theories
Introduction
If I ask any person who is successful in whatever he or she is doing what motivates him/her, very
likely the answer will be goals . Goal setting is extremely important to motivation and success.
We are still students but almost everybody of us has been working somewhere. I have few simple
questions for you. So what motivates you? What do you expect from your current position? What do
you think are the most important aspects to a job?
A good first step towards understanding what motivates people is to ask What do people want from
their jobs? We might answer, money or power but really it is very difficult to judge because depending
on our own individual values and beliefs, we are not all motivated by the same ... Show more content

Safety needs Where the basic needs are reasonably satisfied we turn to thinking about protection from
danger, security and order so that we feel safe. These safety needs can be a concern for physical safety
but also covers psychological safety needs such as job security etc.
Social needs Once the first two needs are reasonably satisfied, social needs such as needing
acceptance, giving and receiving affection and belonging become things that people want
Ego needs Next comes people s need for achievement, self esteem, self confidence, respect and status
Self Actualization needs finally at the top of the hierarchy once all of the other levels have been
reasonably satisfied is the need to become the person that we feel that we are capable of becoming.
This means that we have achieved what we consider to be our very best.
Maslow believed that the lower needs (physiology and safety etc) needed to be at least partially
covered before the higher needs (such as ego and self actualization) could be activated (In fact
Maslow believed that these two higher needs are very rarely satisfied in anyone).
Need Home Job self actualization education, religion, hobbies, personal growth training,
advancement, growth, creativity esteem approval of family, friends, community recognition, high

How A Feud Is Defined By A Protracted Mutual Hostility...
Louis Ortiz

Professor Borelli
10/7/16
A feud is defined by a prolonged mutual hostility between two parties. A current example of this is
ongoing feud between Mayor Bill Deblasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo. However this surely
wouldn t be the first time the mayor of New York City and the Governor of New York State have not
seen eye to eye. Throughout the years there has been a long history of tension between our local and
state representatives of which I shall further elaborate on.
From as early on as 1914, there has been tension between the mayor and governor. In 1914 then
Mayor John P Mitchell a democrat who became mayor on a fusion reversed his prior judgment
regarding the construction of Mohansic State Hospital following negative press coverage arguing that
it would allow the citizens to drink polluted water. Then Republican governor Charles Whitman
reprimanded the governor in public stating that the sewer systems were adequate and that the mayor s
statements were far from the truth. Furthermore in 1917 the governor then reversed his position and
sided with Mitchell. Public fears at that time were caused by over exaggeration on both the mayors
and governor s behalf s.
From the mid 1940 s to early 1950 s Governor Thomas Dewey and Mayor William O Dwyer
frequently clashed. For instance when Governor Dewey and Mayor O Dwyer.were conflicting about
issuing 100 million dollars in bonds in order to build a super highway, Mayor O Dwyer reversed his
original position

Still Life With Skull Essay
Still Life with Skull by Paul Cezanne was completed in 1898 during the Post Impressionist era
commonly known as the final period. The piece features a skull, fruits, and a piece of white cloth
placed on a table. It takes the vanitas genre of art, done using oil on canvas measuring 65.4 cm by 54.3
cm which is exhibited at the Barnes Foundation, Merion, Pennsylvania, USA (Lindsay 1969, 23). This
work represents a powerful and essential link between the materialistic artistic movement of
Expressionism and the ephemeral features of Impressionism. The painting features a dark background
with planes of color used in the foreground and on objects to create space and depth of perspective.
Texture is used to create a tonal harmony devoid of tactile or sensual appeal, therefore portraying
volume.
However, Cezanne leaves little room for color and volume to play their great roles as light diffuses to
the balanced tints of ochre. Space is created by the absolute stillness of the piece thereby affirming the
painter as a great master of composition, color, and design. Further, the piece features complex fields
that create an abstraction by the artist s sensitive and repetitive brushstrokes. Cezanne is portraying the
complexity of man s visual perception ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quill, writing materials, and journals are reminiscent of moral messages and the closed book is a
show of knowledge formerly held by the skull. The mature fruits depicted on the painting by Paul
Cezanne symbolize abundance and fertility, which is figuratively used to mean well being and
wellness. The flowers on the background mean folly and mortal sin of laziness (Platzman 2001, 116).
The glasses are representative of vanity, as is the reflection shown on the still life with a skull and
writing quill. The empty glass is a symbol of death and fragility of human life. The bottle may also be
a sign of the sin of

Goals For Breakaways
The first thing that must be noted about Breakaway is its non profit and religious worldview. Goals for
Breakaway will be much different than that of a corporation of for profit organizations. Their
communication style will be different. As Chung Ming, McDaniel, and Busenitz insist, religious
organizations in particular have a chief goal; and that is church growth. They define growth in terms
of attendance and spiritual growth, measured with Likert scales. Olsen portrays the goals of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints as three responsibilities: to increase positive worldwide
public awareness of the church; to help people better understand the church, its members, and beliefs;
and to join with others to build bridges of friendship and understanding (1). This aspect of religious
communication will have wide effects on how money is collected and spent, what is expected from ...

Waters, Friedman, Mills, and Zeng discuss two way communication on religious organization s
websites. Their idea of Dialogic communication is labeled as assurances. Assurances consist of
feedback areas, working emails, and online stores and donation options. The results of their research
confirmed that religious websites have very little opportunities for audiences to voice their opinions
back to the organizations in question. This article about relational management theory concludes that,
Failing to assure Web site visitors that their concerns and comments were wanted can damage existing
relationships with churchgoers and others who visit the Web site before physically going to the
religious organization (99). While these authors offer no reasoning as to a real why this phenomena
occurs, Ionia offers the opinion that non profits may not be as technologically advanced due to their
lack of funds and staff. A deficiency in either area is a plausible spring from where issues may

You have to go to school for 11 years after you go to high school. First you have to go to four years of
undergraduate college, next you have to go to four years of medical school, last you have to do three
years of residency, which is when you have to work in a hospital as a regular doctor. Then you have
your 11 years of schooling. All throughout this you learn what you need to know, the facts, and what
you need to do in an emergency. This job has many interesting details about it. One of them is seeing
people grow. You get to discover how things work and why they work that way. You learn things that
you have never learned before. You get to solve problems on a daily bases, this makes your job even
more interesting. You never know what to expect, which is always fun, when you don t know what to
expect, some emergency s make it even more fun In order to get into this job you need a certain skill
set. Mainly you need to have a love for children. Your love for children will really help push you
through hardships and difficulties. When you have a child in your office, you will most likely have a
distressed parent and a sick child, and you have to be able to calm down both of them without scarring

The Theme Of Dissatisfaction In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a novel of dissatisfaction, as it is seen peppered throughout the actions of the
characters. The state of discontent is essential to the development of the complex plot, as well as the
various personalities of the novel. Generally, the lack of complacency enveloping each character, has
resulted in senseless actions of coping, and attempts to fulfill the emptiness where their pride belongs.
The novel portrays life in New York City in the early 1920s, conveying the glamorous class of the
social elites, and the general envying nature of the poor. As Gatsby throws elaborately fancy parties,
people of every step of the economic ladder arrive uninvited, without even the simple knowledge of
who the host is. Some arrive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to fulfill his lustful desires, he takes on another woman, whom he has also become
dissatisfied with. As Myrtle continuously chants Daisy, daisy, daisy , Tom, in a rage, strikes and breaks
her nose, presenting his lack of complacency with her, as well as himself. The guilt of his cheating
actions had been eating at him, and being mocked by Myrtle drove the nail into the coffin of his
dignity. Due to his own self esteem issues, he invites Nick, who is symbolic of purity, as the only one
who rejects selfish and immoral behaviors consistently, along to flaunt his mistress, as well as his
materialistic money. Yearning for his approval, he pompously boasts of his achievement of Myrtle, to
impress Nick, and justify his actions in his own mind. Daisy, in return, is dissatisfied with Tom s lack
of sympathy for her, and his blatant disregard for her feelings. As a result of his cruel cold
heartedness, Daisy often engages in argument matches with him. In direct correlation, she eventually
gives in to Gatsby s request of herself as a reaction to the scarcity of her husband s affection. Despite
the downfall of her moral culpability, she vindicates her actions in response to her husband s
deliberate insensitivity towards her with her dissatisfaction of Tom s behavior. Daisy agrees to leave
with Gatsby in his car, further proving that in her conscience, her guilt is absolved. Moreover, in
contrast with Daisy s direct and watered down reasoning for

Naturalism by Garland
Naturalism by Garland Naturalism is a literary movement that encapsulates the struggles of the
common population. Hamlin Garland presents an excellent example of Naturalist literature in his short
story Under the Lion s Paw , published in 1889. In this short story, many of Dr. Stephen doCarmo s
characteristics of Naturalism are visible. Dr. doCarmo describes three broad characteristics of
Naturalism: individuals are subjected to larger uncontainable forces, political undertones are prevalent
within the work, and the subject matter of the work appeals to the middle class. Under the Lion s Paw
possesses all three of these characteristics and radiates naturalism. Dr. doCarmo s first and most

Mr. Butler represents capitalistic society taking advantage of the common people: Mr. Haskins and his
family. After Mr. Haskins had worked towards purchasing the farm from Mr. Butler, he is met with
resistance in the form of an unexpected price increase, to which he rebuts, But you ve done nothing to
make it so. You hain t added a cent. I put it all there myself, expectin to buy (Garland 761). Garland,
as if to emphasize the element of naturalism, writes, Butler laughed and has Butler respond to Mr.
Haskins, The law will sing another tune (Garland 761). Throughout this story the reader is encouraged
to pull for the underdog. Mr. Haskins and his family represent a family met with hardship, an
underdog, potentially pulling themselves up from the bottom and ascending towards success. This
subject matter would be unknown to a middle class, well to do family, and as Dr. doCarmo explains:
Naturalist works often deal with subjects most comfortable middle class readers wouldn t consider
part of their ordinary lives (doCarmo). Most middle class readers have never faced losing everything
such as livelihood, money, and home. This automatically captivates them in the beginning of the story.
Garland holds the attention of the middle class by reminding the reader of this unknown throughout
the story: It was the memory of this homelessness, and the fear of its coming again, that spurred
Timothy Haskins and Nettie, his wife, to such ferocious labor

I Can t Determine First Time I Ever Felt Shame
I can t determine first time I ever felt shame, nor am I certain that I want to remember. The thought of
even discussing shame makes me feel quite vulnerable and uncomfortable, but, upon deeper
reflection, I can conclude that shame has almost always been an integral part of my character. This
same reflection also causes my mind to race towards the p word: perfection. Dr. Brené Brown stated in
her lecture that this attitude of feeling shame from an inability to reach an ideal existence is commonly
found in women, but it is in this manner that I feel I most commonly interact with shame
(www.ted.com). To make matters worse, I have consistently bottled this shame up within myself and
have not communicated or acknowledged its existence. By so doing I have allowed shame to flourish
within me. Dr. Brown added that shame, needs three things to grow exponentially: secrecy, silence,
and judgment. Without knowing it, I have been effectively growing my own shame over the past
twenty years. I personally desire to kill shame at its very roots in my mind now that its existence has
been made known. Examining perfection could be the place to begin my quest to eliminate shame.
Perfection for me has presented itself as a persistent need to properly meet or surpass expectations.
There are always expectations that a person must live up to, and they may come from internal or
external sources. These expectations can vary between cultures, but they are always present. I have
realized that I

The Feathers Of The Wind
Feathers in the Wind I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for the final time. I attempted to gather
my thoughts, but it was no use. There were no thoughts that could justify the action I needed to do. I
composed myself and cocked back the lever to load my BB gun. The steel and carbonate composite
that made up the gun never felt colder, even on a hot summer s day like today. The world seemed to
stop spinning and there was nothing but silence. It was only myself and the task at hand. I removed
my finger from the trigger guard and placed it behind the trigger itself. I closed my eyes again. I was
ready to finish this. It was only an hour beforehand when I found it a little black and grey fuzzball,
like something you would find when you go up to clean out your attic. I found it resting on the
pavement of my driveway. It sat there baking in the hot August afternoon sun. It was just bobbing its
little head around, but unable to move. I walked up to further investigate and to my unfortunate
discovery, it was a small bird. It must have fallen out of the oak tree and took quite the flight down.
Upon further inspection, I found that the bird had appalling injuries to its neck, head, and wing. The
top of the head had a horrible gash which gave the bird the appearance of having a shaved head. It
stuck out like a sore thumb. The wings were both mangled and broken. I quickly realized that this
poor creature was not going to survive. I tried gathering a shoe box and feeding it and

How Was Imperialism Affected By Great Britain Imperialize...
Imperialism is the act of country trying to control a different country. Imperializing is basically a type
of government trying enlarge its size either by forcing in through war, or by influencing through
politics (Vocabulary.com). Great Britain was involved in many cases of imperializing other countries.
They were one of the biggest countires to imperialize. To be exact, Great Britain imperialized our 13
american colonies. A country that Great Britain imperialized was Nigeria in 1914. Local leaders in
agreed to sign treaties of protection with Great Britain. However there were some rebellions that did
not like the idea of Great Britain imperializing. However Great Britain used forces to put down, and
defeat those rebellions ( Roger B. Beck). From Great Britain imperializing Nigeria, the greatest
resource they were able get was palm oil trade along the river of Nigeria known as the Niger River.
This was after Berlin Conference had given Britain a protectorate over the Niger River. A protectorate
is when a state is controlled and also protected by another country. ... Show more content on

Great Britain s interests in Imperializing india went up due to the trade post set up at Bombay made by
East India Company. The Industrial revolution had turned Britain into the World workshop, and India
was its major supplier of raw materials for that workshop (Roger B. Beck, pg. 357). Great Britain
decided to Imperialize it to gain access to be able to get those resources on their own. Britain had then
set up restrictions that prevent Indian economy operating on its own now. However many Indians
began to become upset because they thought they were trying to convert them to becoming christian,
and thought they were being racist to them. The Indians Rebelled, but Great Britain was too controlled

Turkey Research Paper
The history is always a good place to start when you are writing a paper over countries. The history of
Turkey is pretty interesting to talk about. During the 1300s a group of Turks also know for as the
Ottomans founded a principality in Northwestern Anatolia. Which means the Ottoman created an
empire and that empire soon became one of the most powerful empires in the world. With that being
said later on in 1939 1945 Turkish sided with the democratic western nations during and after World
War II. Now switching from history over to geography, agriculture in Turkey is widely practiced in the
Northwestern and the Southwestern of Turkey. Now you notice that the Eastern part of Turkey wasn t
mentioned, that is because the Eastern parts of turkey are the most mountainous parts, which tells you
that it s very difficult to practice agriculture there. Now a little more about mountains are that many
peaks in Turkey exceed 10,000 feet at the least. Turkey s highest point is Mt. Ararat which peaks at
16,948 feet, which is very tall compared to the smaller ones. Another very interesting thing about

My trust in the definitiveness of reality is swiftly disintegrating beneath me. The deeper I dive into the

worry that these hypotheses are the beginning of a tiny delusion that will begin to gradually eat away
at the rest of my sanity. That scares me a bit, yes, but even as I sit here writing, I love this newfound
instability because it s ironically made me feel more grounded than I ve ever felt. Armed with these

Butler also notes that if you play this role differently than the accepted one, you will be justly
punished. (521, 531) Though this is not entirely true, it s a fascinating theory that has struck a chord
with many. Just look at how people perceive transvestite or transgender males on the streets. As they
act in a so called feminine manner, people retreat from them out of discomfort or fear. Things and
theory only matter if they have some basis in truth, after all. There is a term in psychology that backs
up Butler s theory known concisely as the power of the situation. This self explanatory concept states
that our actions are shaped more by the setting we find ourselves in rather than what we determine our
personality to be. (Gleitman 2011) This implies that there are overarching societal expectations that
govern our behaviour in every situation we may encounter; every place we go to is assigned a
corresponding list of appropriate actions to execute whether we are aware of it or not. As Shakespeare
put it, All the world s a stage, and all the men and women merely players... (As You Like It Act 2,
scene 7, 139 143). This is directly in line with Butler s ideas. Even I, who tend to fall closer on the
male side of the spectrum than female, fall victim to these rules. I

Outliers explains the various different methods and ways to achieve success. Whether that be the
10,000 hour practice rule or the luck of a birth date, anyone can strive towards success. The story
opens up about The Matthew Effect and why hockey players are born in the January, February and

age and maturity at that certain time; therefore, those children will receive more practice and play on

The Story is split into two different parts, timing and cultural legacies. For part one, the example that
was clearly reliant on timing was birth year. Gladwell is talking about the age of technology and the
men that help form that when he states, The perfect age to be in 1975, in other words, and is old
enough to be a part of a revolution but not so old that you missed it (Gladwell 65). To further expand
his quote, the ideal years to be born in were 1953 56. He goes on to support his intellectual find with
strong evidence stating that men such as Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Steve Ballmer, Steve Jobs, and Eric
Schmidt had been born in those years. All of these men are notoriously said to be the fathers of the
technological age. Without the births of these brilliant men, it might have been impossible to type this
paper. Diving into part two of Outliers, Gladwell focuses strictly on cultural legacies. He provides
various example of how some kids are merely just fortune children and others just have lucky cultural
and ethnic backgrounds that help provide their success. While some children are just successful
because their damn parents hit the Powerball, the significant amount of other are persistent at what
they do I order to build their success, not have it given to them. Malcolm Gladwell splits this main

Cheer Worlds Research Paper
Cheer Worlds is the biggest competition for many cheerleaders around the world. Teams from
everywhere come to compete. There are no pompoms in sight these cheerleaders come with high
flying stunts, and insane tumbling skills. At any moment anything could go wrong. Forty countries
around the world qualify to teams at their premier national championship to compete at worlds. The
first Worlds was held in 2004. That year a level 5 team called Cheer Athletics took home a win. Now
there are different levels depending on your skills so there are many winners from different levels.
Cheer Worlds is held in Orlando, Florida. The reason for cheer worlds being so important is it gives a
chance for the cheerleaders around the world to have their very own Olympics. It can launch a good
future from some girls or boys. Girls and boys both risk their bodies to do something they love. Cheer
worlds has changed many places and teams around them to put hard work and shape up to amazing

Photography and The Gothic
The photographs taken by Terry Evans in the collection Heartland show a range of perspectives of the
Midwest prairie. Heartland displays characteristics of the traditional Gothic through the combination
of wide landscapes and dilapidated factories. Photos from three collections portray the transition of the
untouched landscape to an overgrown and gothic scene. The first photos of the gothic transition come
from the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection. The collection shows untouched nature that
gives a feeling of the sublime. It shows wide green expanses, bathed in warm light, that shows a raw
beauty and goodness created by nature. This feeling of the sublime is a major aspect of the gothic due

This feeling is better reflected in the Matfield Green collection that depicts the green expanse that is
similar to the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection but also includes things such as railroads
and power lines that show that the area is populated. This collection adds an aspect of the isolated
landscape and fear of isolation because there is a sparse dotting of humans across the large expanse
that gives the viewer the knowledge that there are inhabitants around, but not seen or directly noticed.
The element of isolation in nature is demonstrated in The Mysteries of Udolpho and The Turn of the
Screw by Udolpho and the House at Bly through their setting in isolated landscapes with weak tethers
to the rest of civilization. The idea of overcoming this isolation is also present in the novels. Emily in
The Mysteries of Udolpho escapes the isolation to safety. The Governess in The Turn of the Screw
hopes to do the same by connection with the Man from Harley Street but is not as lucky. The effect of
the isolated landscape with an unknown element causes the reader and viewer to become suspicious of
their surroundings and uneasy with the sublime landscape due to the possibility that something evil is
residing within it and give a more traditional gothic feel. The third collection that completes a gothic
picture of the Midwest shows the ruins of the prairie. Steel Work

Steps Of The Plan Do Check Act ( Pdca ) Cycle
PDCA Outline
Plan
The first step of the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) cycle is plan. The planning step of the cycle is
extremely important and crucial to the success of the project. I undertook this exact issue as a process
improvement project early on in my career and already went through the exercise of analyzing the
account activity and assigning a risk score to each and every balance sheet account. At the time, there
were 854 individual balance sheet accounts that needed reconciled. Currently this count has grown to
1,047, which means that an additional 193 accounts would need analyzed. The plan for this project
now needs to consist of cursory review of the previously assigned accounts and a more in depth
analysis of the additional 193 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no reason to waste resources reconciling an account that is no longer being used. The next
step of 5S that is beneficial to the process is straightening. The accounts should be straightened into
broader categories, rather than looking that them individually, which saves time and is more efficient.
For instance, all cash accounts should be grouped and analyzed together, as they will be handled the
same. The work is not done when the sorting and straightening has been completed, nonetheless. The
newly sorted and straightened list should continue to be shined, another step of 5S, on a routine basis
to make sure there are no changes. As previously mentioned, the controller reserves the right to adjust
the reconciliation priority at any time. New accounts are likely to be created that will need sorted and
straightened and other accounts will also go inactive. 5S is an ongoing process and the sustainability is
one of the S s. The final S stands for standardize. The account reconciliation process should be
standardized. Standardization and uniformity in the reconciliation process and the reconciliation work
papers add to the quality of the review. It is much easier for a reviewer or auditor to check
reconciliations that are prepared in a consistent fashion.
Do
The Do step of the PDCA cycle is where the action of the project really happens. The new
reconciliation schedule is implemented during this stage. As previously mentioned some accounts will
continue to be

People who support free college believe it will benefit the entire nation. As technology industries
grow, as well as the need for employees with higher education; a college educated workforce would be
able to fill these desperately needed job positions, which in turn will make America s economy grow
stronger. Billions of dollars could be added in the economy if these jobs were filled. People tend to
spend more money when they have little debt and higher wages. It could also mean that the
government would take in a lot of extra tax revenues, which could go a long way toward paying for
free public colleges.
With affordable college, people would have more freedom to expand talents, try new ideas, and pursue
the lives they want. Without worrying about crushing debt, these people would have more freedom to
live their lives to the fullest. That could lead to happier citizens, which would make our nation more
prosperous as a whole. This is known as Happiness Economics, which states that people who are
happier work harder, and that places with happier people had higher retail sales, which improves the
economic climate and helps lessen the effects of a recession , according to a study done by Gallup

Ethical Considerations Of Ethical Decision Making
Including Ethical Considerations in Decision Making (Summary) This sections starts with how
decisions can affect ethical behavior. Most people have unconsciously developed a decision making
process in situations such as a workplace or in their personal life. The steps of decision making are as
follows: Developing a problem statement, identifying alternatives, evaluating and choosing
alternative, implementing decisions, and evaluating results. If any of those steps does not result as a
success, then the decision making process is repeated until it is successful. Analysis This section
focuses on the steps of decision making through the following steps: problem statement, identify
alternatives, evaluate and choose alternative, implement decisions, and evaluating results. It also
focuses on how decision making can be beneficial to people s lives. Development of a problem
statement is most crucial for making a decision. For developing a problem statement, a clear, concise
description of an issue is needed in order to make a decision. The questions of analyzing a problem

who are not very happy in their jobs. The movie is set in a firm that is called Initech. The movie has a

On top of his job not being very exciting, he also has outside factors that are in his life. The other
characters in the movie are Milton, Samir, Bill, and Michael. Bill is the boss and does not have very

Ecg Waveforms
An electrocardiogram, or ECG, is a visual representation of the electrical impulses of the heart. An
ECG is performed with an electrocardiograph, which uses electrodes to record the electrical impulses
of the heart. The ECG represents the heart s electrical impulses as positive or negative deflections
which creates the ECG waveforms. These waveforms are a represented on an ECG as the P QRS T

Racism in America
Racism in America
Alton Dawson
Liberty University
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to show the effects of racism in America. Racism is defined as one
group assumes superiority over other groups that develop attitudes of arrogance and ignorance.
Despite many laws and legislation attempts to eliminate the evils of racism, the problem focuses on
the cultural differences of race, color and biological supremacy. Racism comes in the form of ethnic
cleansing, hate groups, discrimination and restraint of equal rights. Over the last decade the media has
become one of the major contributors of racism in the 21st century. The media have displayed labels

Racism has a long continuous history in America that began from slavery to the passage of the Civil
Rights Act (1964).There are many forms of racism: open, violent and covert. Open racism focuses on
individual freedom to express racial thoughts and speech. Open racism exist in America because of an
individual s freedom of speech derived from the first amendment (Deo, 2012). Societal use of open
racism in America is declining and found unconstitutional and politically incorrect. Violent racism is a
form of racism that the use of violence is exhibited through imposing fear from racial groups to
express their agendas. Covert racism is the most common type of racism used today. The covert racist
is unaware that they are racist. Covert racists uses this tactic to intimidate groups or cultures that are
inferior to their culture. Individual racism is a form of racism that has one person discriminates against
another. Institutional racism is a form of racism when institutions discriminate against a race for unfair
and biased reasons, the same reason the individual racist would do (racial profiling). Lastly racism is
in the form of people displaying attitudes about other races and cultures. Since post 9 / 11 attitudes

Literary Uses Of Hyperbole In Go Ask Alice
Hyperbole: A hyperbole is an exaggerated statement or claim not meant to be taken literally. In Go
Ask Alice, the author uses this literary device effectively by using the exaggeration to illustrate how
the character is feeling. Throughout a lot of the book, she is feeling very sad and overwhelmed. In the
very beginning of the book, she says, And now the whole world is cold and gray and unfeeling. This is
an exaggeration because the whole world isn t literally cold and gray, but that is how she is seeing it.
As the reader, I can get a better understanding of her feelings by her exaggerations.
Details (selection of detail): Having detail in your writing is very important and can make the
difference in the piece of literature. Detail can help the reader have a better understanding of what they
are reading. On page 134, the author writes, It s a good thing most people bleed on the inside or this
would be a gory, blood smeared Earth. Anonymous is explaining her feelings about the world around
her using immense detail. As the reader, I can have a better idea of how she is seeing and describing
her world. Simile: A simile is a figure of speech that compares of two things that are different than
each other in order to make a description of something more prominent. An example of when this is
used in the book is when it says, Well, like oil and water, I can t quite adapt or fit, on page 18. She is

Cost Of Privatization
Privatization is Not the Solution
I have to admit that I do not plan on working until I die, and I know I am not the only one who feels
this way. Although retirement might seem many years away for me and a significant portion of the
workforce, now is the time to start planning for retirement. Many companies offer private retirement
benefits such as 401k plans where a percentage of the employees wages (typically 15% or less) goes
to stocks and bonds. Even though many employees contribute to a private retirement plan, many
employees need additional retirement benefits. Moreover, many workplaces have no retirement
package, and the employees need a different form of retirement benefits. Luckily in 1935, President

While allowing contributors to choose what to do with their money seems to be a great idea, most
people are not educated enough to make wise investments. For contributors to be informed investors,
it would require going over large amounts of information. Specifically, contributors would need to
know the historical averages of individual stocks, the rates of return on different types of bonds, and
the fees that go along with the stocks and bonds. The research that would be required would be
overwhelming for most contributors. For instance, my research on what a privatized system would
entail made me feel bewildered. Although my research discussed the historical averages of certain
stock indexes, I still do not believe I could make an informed decision. In addition, my research was
just a minuscule portion of the information out there, and for people to feel confident in their
investments would almost require a college degree. Moreover, if people were allowed to choose what
to do with their money they could use it for something that Social Security was not meant for. For
example, if Social Security was privatized today and I needed a vehicle I could just take all my money
that I saved to buy a car. Using benefits on whatever a contributor chooses might seem fair to some,
after all, it is the contributor s money. However, Social Security was not meant to allow a contributor

Symptoms And Treatment Of Postoperative Surgery
Introduction
Most of patients are hoping to see well without spectacle or contact lenses. So in last years the
refractive surgery increased in patients dissatisfied with spectacles and contact lenses either due to
quality of vision, cosmetic appearance or difficulties in contact lenses wearing and its complications.
corneal surgeries like corneal ablation ( photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and laser assisted in situ

correct s refractive errors in myopic patients [1,2].
Corneal surgeries, such as photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK, have many limitations and
contraindications especially for the correction of high refractive errors. Postoperative ectasia which is
a major problem can occur with removing of too much corneal tissue to correct high myopia with the
laser. Night bad quality vision and dry eye complaints may be transient or permanent symptoms which
may cause dissatisfaction for refractive patients. Due to these limitations and complications,
indications for corneal refractive surgery have narrowed [3 6].
As many patients with myopia unsuitable for LASIK the Intraocular refractive procedures may be a
good alternative: high degrees of ametropia thin corneas and keratoconus suspect can be corrected,
more stable refraction, better visual quality in day and night

Star Wars Pop Culture Icon
American popular culture has always been a market for sales. Everything that is and has made pop
culture what it is in America has been built through commercialization. The ability to sell the main
product and then the countless other revenue items that go with that product define American culture.
Today in the United States a person would be hard pressed to fined a movie showing in theaters that
does not have a soundtrack out, t shirt even action figures that go along with it. So where did this idea
of marketing out come from? Simple. Star Wars. Thanks to the cultural influence of George Lucas Star

he said that the film was successful because of timing. Lucas had captured something new and

that Lucas, who once set out to make his independence, was now becoming his own powerful self.
The thing he had set out for in writing Star Wars was to have freedom to write. Freedom from the big
guns of Hollywood. Now Lucas himself had become one of those big guns that controlled all the
money. Seabrook describes Lucas as the first of the great content robber barons . He has built up his
fortune and is completely content with Hollywood s failure. In concluding, Star Wars might be the
pinnacle of the film industry. It gave us our first look at the film industries use of commercialization.
Never before had a movie been so big that it was selling millions of dollars a year on things such as
pencils and stickers with the Star Wars name on it. It showed what a movie is capable of and how
much advertising affect can have on the general public. However through its success on the big screen

on an empire worth 20.1 billion dollars (Wastler) and controls a great deal of the Hollywood market.

Respect Of A Child In The South During The Late 1800 s
Imagine a child in the south, during the late 1800 s. There was certain manners and values that a child
would have been raised with. One of the most important of these values was to respect one s elders. A
child raised in these values would listen to an adult and think that they re right no matter the
circumstance because they are older. Also, a child would have been raised to accept certain social
injustices like slavery. This was mainly because the adults said it was alright. Mark Twain wanted
people to realize the immorality of society during the 1800s. Mark Twain first shows this with the

Tangled, The Incredibles, and Spirited Away, and also how their exceptionality relates to society. The
exceptional characters in these movies are positively different from the average ones, and the
differences are presented by giving these characters special abilities. In Tangled, Rapunzel is able to
heal people, control aging, agility, adaptability, and magic tears. In The Incredibles, Bob Parr/Mr.

The story illustrates that exceptionality is innate within all of us, but sometimes as we get older we
lose our abilities. Chihiro is considered an exceptional character because she can see and communicate
with the spirit world. Her parents have lost touch with their ability to notice things outside of human
world and they suffer because of this. Chihiro is able to go on a journey that saves her and her parents,
and because she succeeds in the end it is implied that it is important to hold on to your exceptionality
even as you grow old. In Spirited Away, the only characters able to react to Chihiro s presence in the
spirit world are the spirits. The spirits that work in the bath house aren t pleased that there is a human
in their presence, they blame things on her, and make her do the dirty jobs. Towards the end of the
movie these spirits get over their prejudices and begin to love Chihiro. In the beginning she is seen as
simply a freak that doesn t belong, but by the end she proves herself and everyone has learned from
her. Chihiro s exceptionality is the only reason she was able to be the hero of her story; her parents lost
touch with their culture and almost got themselves

have to look for these clues, call in a professional company such as Greystone Roofing to check out

Repair or replace
If a few shingles have blown off during a storm, or if there s a small leak in one area, replacing is an
economical option. It also makes the most sense. After all, why incur the expense of installing a new
roof if there are only a couple of shingles that need to be replaced.
In some cases one section of a roof may be damaged. Perhaps, a tree limb has fallen on an area of the
roof which resulted in damage to 1/4 of the roof. This is another time when repairing may be the more
favorable option. However, if the roof is older and will need replacing soon many homeowners opt for

Descriptive Essay About A Hot Air Balloon
Hot Air Balloon One day I was just sitting at home while I was thinking about what to do, it was
during thanksgiving so it was not only me thinking about what to do at the time. My whole family and
I would usually do something fun for thanksgiving after we ate our thanksgiving dinner and talked and
everything like that. I then had an idea that I had been wanting to do for a while but I didn t want to
say it because I knew nobody would want to do it except me. But then I was getting scared about the
idea I had myself; the idea I had was to go in a hot air balloon. I don t really know why but I suddenly
had the courage to just tell them that I thought it was a good idea to go in a hot air balloon. I was
expecting everyone to basically laugh at me and say no right when I said it, but I got a totally different
reaction then I thought. My entire family liked the idea to go do it but they all said they were to
scared, but we could still go because they said it would be really cool to watch me do it and anybody
else that wanted to go up in the hot air balloon. So, before I could basically even try to get over my
own fear of going up in the hot air balloon we were already on our way there. The best thing about it
was is that where the hot air balloon place was, people that we knew worked there so not only did we
get to go there in the first place. Now we go to do it for free, and I ll tell you what to go in a hot air
balloon is not cheap. So basically, this idea I had that I thought was never going to happen was
happening right in front of my eyes. So after about a 20 30 minute car ride to the hot air balloon lift
off place; we finally arrived. When we finally got there and all of my family got to the place to lift off
we had to talk about all of the rules. The rule that probably scared me the most was how you could not
move around a lot because the basket you had to stand in. The basket was able to break if there was
too much weight or there was too much movement and just other stuff that is possible. Also, another
really scary thing I had to do before getting in the hot air balloon was to basically sign a waiver saying
that if something goes wrong and I die it s not their fault. But even though with all

Characteristics Of A Good Teacher
INTRODUCTION: What is teaching? Teaching is something many people desire to do in order to help
those learn with different teaching approaches. A lot of time is devoted to the what of teaching and
what areas we should we cover, what resources do we need and so on. The how of teaching also gets a
great deal of space and how to structure a lesson, manage classes, assess for learning for learning and
so on. Do we ask the who question who is the self that teaches? How does the quality of my selfhood
form or deform the way I relate to my students, my subject, my colleagues, my world? How can
educational institutions sustain and deepen the selfhood from which good teaching comes? Parker J.
Palmer (1998: 4).
WHAT IS A GOOD TEACHER?: A good teacher is someone who focuses on students needs and
styles of learning. Every student has different way of learning. In my experience to become a good
teacher one must take the time to speak and observe their students. I always observe my students when
they are speaking. One thing I have learned is to always ask the students what activity we will be
doing in their own words. This way I can see if they understand and are paying attention.
STRENGTH AND WEAKNESSES: The first time I taught it was in front of a bunch of eighth
graders. I was shaking and not confident in the way I was conducting class. I had no idea how to be a

Terrorism And Terrorism Essay
Radicalization is a process of socialization to extremism. Radicalization processes is what lead to acts
of terrorism. It thrives in an enabling environment with a sediments of injustice, exclusion and
humiliation among the terrorists groups. Triggering factors varying in accordance to individual
experience and personal pathways to radicalization, it is due to global, sociological and political
drivers such as extreme marginalization, general decline or globalization. Hence, to analyze the
drivers of radicalization, we need to understand the collective grievances behind radicalism by making
comparisons of primary causes of radicalization which will ultimately lead to terrorism in different
terrorists groups like ISIS and LTTE, will allow us to decide if whether terrorism is primarily due to
globalization.
Terrorism is primarily due to globalization. Due to globalization, there was a widespread of
dissatisfaction, due to the very rapid changes in society, and the Western supremacy. Breeding grounds
for radicalism and terrorist recruitment emerge not because of deprivation, but rather the time at which
negative social, economic and political trends converge. Especially in the Arab world, relative
deprivation, the absence of opportunities relative to growing aspirations and expectations. Information

The Role Of God In The Gospel Of Mark
If you were to choose one word to describe the composite nature of the kingdom of God, it would
most likely be hazy. Throughout the old and new testament, we re presented with the theory of what
the kingdom of God is. Only to find out it is either a safe haven for God s loyal followers or a sign of
the imminent apocalypse (or second coming). Both beliefs of the kingdom of God were presented in
the synoptic gospels, especially in the Gospel of Mark. The author in this case is able to combine the
ideas of apocalyptic literature into the hopeful message that those who followed the Lord will be
rewarded for their faithfulness. Ultimately, the gospel of Mark uses writing features of apocalyptic
literature as a scare tactic for obedience. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is seen throughout the Gospel of Mark, the readers or early Christians were presented with the
mindset that was needed in order to enter the kingdom of God. If your hand causes you to stumble, cut
it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell, to the
unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life
lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out;
it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into
hell where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched, (Mark 9:43 48). Inherently, this
metaphysical world is plagued by both evil and good, but which path is needed in order to enter the
theorized kingdom of God? The Marcan Gospel claims the followers of Jesus must forgo what makes
them sin, which can be considered the evil in this world. By doing this there is a promise of an eternal
reward for going against the ways of the world. This idea highlights the concept presented in
apocalyptic literature called divine justice. The premises behind divine justice is that the followers of
Jesus may not get an earthly reward, but they will get a spiritual reward for their faithfulness. Mark
highlights this idea of divine justice

Historical Context In Lord Of The Flies
Historical Context is Vital to Understand a Memoir Reading an excellent memoir is stepping into the
author s past; the strokes of descriptive writing throughout the story paint a picture in the reader s
mind, allowing one to escape from their own reality into another s. William Golding s Lord of the
Flies and Elie Wiesel s Night each have a historical background; however, the importance of each
varies depending on the type of literary work. Lord of the Flies tells a story of a large group of
schoolboys that landed on an island after their plane crashed. These kids begin their adventure by
electing a leader named Ralph, and initially they act civil, organized, and ready to survive. As the
novel progresses, a rebellious older boy named Jack begins to act out, trying to replace Ralph with
himself as leader. Eventually, the wild, rambunctious nature of these boys wreaks havoc on the ability
of the group to survive together, and three boys tragically died before a Navy ship comes to their
rescue. The historical context of this book is short; there is a World War happening, and the boys plane
was shot down by an enemy pilot. This was the entire reason they were stranded on an island in the
first place. Night by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography and memoir explaining Eliezer s experiences as
an Orthodox Jew in Sighet, a Transylvanian town in Hungary, during World War II. Wiesel goes

An Study On Territoriality And Intrusion On Public Spaces
This study focuses in on the topic of territoriality and intrusion in public spaces; more specifically this
study focuses in on the effect of families with children on territoriality and intrusion in public spaces
(e.g. parking lots). Territoriality can be defined as the protection of a temporary created space, wherein
the creator of the space claims ownership and occupancy on the area. We operationally defined
territoriality: it is the time it takes for a participant (driver) to contact with the car (start timer) to the
time (in seconds) it takes for the participant s front bumper to leave the parking space. This definition
can also be stated as departure time.
Intrusion can be defined as the presence of an intruder who has the desire to enter a temporary created
space that is owned by another person. Intrusion is operationally defined so that when the participant
comes into contact with their vehicle, the participant understands that there is another driver(s) who
will take their claimed parking space right after they leave.
Our hypothesis is that families with children will take more time (more territorial) to leave a parking

Case Study Of Kellobits
Old habits die hard, especially when it comes to Indian eating habits. When Kellogg India Ltd.
(Kellogg s), the wholly owned subsidiary of the US$ 7 billion Kellogg Company, entered the 3000 ton
cereal market in 1994, little did it realize the importance of the adage. It had a clear game plan to
position itself on the health platform, highlighting the nutritional values of the brand.
The journey from 1994 to present, 2011 has been full of large scale Up s and Down s.
Product: It is a tangible good or an intangible service that is mass produced or manufactured on a large
scale with a specific volume of units.

Corn Flakes, by contrast, are aimed at the whole family.
This targeting will determine the content of the advert and the time of broadcast. Product
Launched in September 1994, Kellogg s initial offerings in
India included cornflakes, wheat flakes and Basmati rice flakes. Despite offering good quality
products and being supported by the technical, managerial and financial resources of its parent,
Kellogg s products failed in the
Indian market. Even a high profile launch backed by hectic media activity failed to make an impact in
the marketplace.
Meanwhile, negative media coverage regarding the products increased, as more and more consumers
were reportedly rejecting the taste. Converting the experimenters into regular buyers had become a
major problem for the company. Realising that a major reason for Kellogg s failure was the fact that
the taste of its products did not suit Indian breakfast habits, it came up with the idea of Indianisation of
the taste. Kellogg decided to launch two of its highly successful brands Chocos (September 1996) and

Color Blindness In The Phantom Of The Opera
Social justice is the equal distribution of resources and opportunities, in which outside factors that
categorize people are irrelevant (Pachamama Alliance). Inequality in gender, race, sexuality, religion,
and possessions remain potent. While many businesses are working toward creating equal and just
environments for all of their workers, many problems regarding race and gender still plague even the
21st century, and these efforts to combat injustice are not always readily and well received. Frequent
theatre goers may be unaware that even the entertainment industry deals with discrimination against
women and people of diverse backgrounds. Although on stage it may seem like new shows are
bursting with diversity, behind the scenes there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Phantom of the Opera also issued a similar type of casting method when naming Norm Lewis as
the first black actor to play the Phantom. However, the idea of color blindness is not a problem on
stage so much as it is off stage. The biggest problem that many black playwrights and directors face is
not that their work is not being produced, but that the pieces written about black communities by
white men are often racist. Because much of white privilege doesn t have any interaction with
blackness they have a tendency to congregate around pathology, and only focusing on particular things
in the urban environment high crime, single parenthood, things like that and then they sort of tag that
as being the black experience (Nichloson). Properly representing a culture different than the
playwright s or producer s without being racist is a very tedious and difficult task which is why it is
very important to have diversity in a show s production team. Black people are needed on the creative
team of a show about a black community in order to have a fuller perspective of what black is, what
black story is, and what black voice is (Nichloson). American theatre has its definite struggles with
gender and racial injustices, but theatres in Britain are facing the same problems on an even greater

  • 2. Motivation Theories Introduction If I ask any person who is successful in whatever he or she is doing what motivates him/her, very likely the answer will be goals . Goal setting is extremely important to motivation and success. We are still students but almost everybody of us has been working somewhere. I have few simple questions for you. So what motivates you? What do you expect from your current position? What do you think are the most important aspects to a job? A good first step towards understanding what motivates people is to ask What do people want from their jobs? We might answer, money or power but really it is very difficult to judge because depending on our own individual values and beliefs, we are not all motivated by the same ... • 3. How A Feud Is Defined By A Protracted Mutual Hostility... Louis Ortiz Pol 231 Professor Borelli 10/7/16 A feud is defined by a prolonged mutual hostility between two parties. A current example of this is ongoing feud between Mayor Bill Deblasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo. However this surely wouldn t be the first time the mayor of New York City and the Governor of New York State have not seen eye to eye. Throughout the years there has been a long history of tension between our local and state representatives of which I shall further elaborate on. From as early on as 1914, there has been tension between the mayor and governor. In 1914 then Mayor John P Mitchell a democrat who became mayor on a fusion reversed his prior judgment regarding the construction of Mohansic State Hospital following negative press coverage arguing that it would allow the citizens to drink polluted water. Then Republican governor Charles Whitman reprimanded the governor in public stating that the sewer systems were adequate and that the mayor s statements were far from the truth. Furthermore in 1917 the governor then reversed his position and sided with Mitchell. Public fears at that time were caused by over exaggeration on both the mayors and governor s behalf s. From the mid 1940 s to early 1950 s Governor Thomas Dewey and Mayor William O Dwyer frequently clashed. For instance when Governor Dewey and Mayor O Dwyer.were conflicting about issuing 100 million dollars in bonds in order to build a super highway, Mayor O Dwyer reversed his original position ... • 4. Still Life With Skull Essay Still Life with Skull by Paul Cezanne was completed in 1898 during the Post Impressionist era commonly known as the final period. The piece features a skull, fruits, and a piece of white cloth placed on a table. It takes the vanitas genre of art, done using oil on canvas measuring 65.4 cm by 54.3 cm which is exhibited at the Barnes Foundation, Merion, Pennsylvania, USA (Lindsay 1969, 23). This work represents a powerful and essential link between the materialistic artistic movement of Expressionism and the ephemeral features of Impressionism. The painting features a dark background with planes of color used in the foreground and on objects to create space and depth of perspective. Texture is used to create a tonal harmony devoid of tactile or sensual appeal, therefore portraying volume. However, Cezanne leaves little room for color and volume to play their great roles as light diffuses to the balanced tints of ochre. Space is created by the absolute stillness of the piece thereby affirming the painter as a great master of composition, color, and design. Further, the piece features complex fields that create an abstraction by the artist s sensitive and repetitive brushstrokes. Cezanne is portraying the complexity of man s visual perception ... The mature fruits depicted on the painting by Paul Cezanne symbolize abundance and fertility, which is figuratively used to mean well being and wellness. The flowers on the background mean folly and mortal sin of laziness (Platzman 2001, 116). Goals for Breakaway will be much different than that of a corporation of for profit organizations. Their communication style will be different. As Chung Ming, McDaniel, and Busenitz insist, religious organizations in particular have a chief goal; and that is church growth. They define growth in terms of attendance and spiritual growth, measured with Likert scales. Olsen portrays the goals of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints as three responsibilities: to increase positive worldwide public awareness of the church; to help people better understand the church, its members, and beliefs; and to join with others to build bridges of friendship and understanding (1). This aspect of religious communication will have wide effects on how money is collected and spent, what is expected from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Waters, Friedman, Mills, and Zeng discuss two way communication on religious organization s websites. Their idea of Dialogic communication is labeled as assurances. Assurances consist of feedback areas, working emails, and online stores and donation options. The results of their research confirmed that religious websites have very little opportunities for audiences to voice their opinions back to the organizations in question. This article about relational management theory concludes that, Failing to assure Web site visitors that their concerns and comments were wanted can damage existing relationships with churchgoers and others who visit the Web site before physically going to the religious organization (99). Due to his own self esteem issues, he invites Nick, who is symbolic of purity, as the only one who rejects selfish and immoral behaviors consistently, along to flaunt his mistress, as well as his materialistic money. Yearning for his approval, he pompously boasts of his achievement of Myrtle, to impress Nick, and justify his actions in his own mind. Daisy, in return, is dissatisfied with Tom s lack of sympathy for her, and his blatant disregard for her feelings. As a result of his cruel cold heartedness, Daisy often engages in argument matches with him. In direct correlation, she eventually gives in to Gatsby s request of herself as a reaction to the scarcity of her husband s affection. Despite the downfall of her moral culpability, she vindicates her actions in response to her husband s deliberate insensitivity towards her with her dissatisfaction of Tom s behavior. Hamlin Garland presents an excellent example of Naturalist literature in his short story Under the Lion s Paw , published in 1889. In this short story, many of Dr. Stephen doCarmo s characteristics of Naturalism are visible. Dr. doCarmo describes three broad characteristics of Naturalism: individuals are subjected to larger uncontainable forces, political undertones are prevalent within the work, and the subject matter of the work appeals to the middle class. You hain t added a cent. I put it all there myself, expectin to buy (Garland 761). Garland, as if to emphasize the element of naturalism, writes, Butler laughed and has Butler respond to Mr. Haskins, The law will sing another tune (Garland 761). Throughout this story the reader is encouraged to pull for the underdog. Mr. Haskins and his family represent a family met with hardship, an underdog, potentially pulling themselves up from the bottom and ascending towards success. This subject matter would be unknown to a middle class, well to do family, and as Dr. doCarmo explains: Naturalist works often deal with subjects most comfortable middle class readers wouldn t consider part of their ordinary lives (doCarmo). Most middle class readers have never faced losing everything such as livelihood, money, and home. This automatically captivates them in the beginning of the story. This same reflection also causes my mind to race towards the p word: perfection. Dr. Brené Brown stated in her lecture that this attitude of feeling shame from an inability to reach an ideal existence is commonly found in women, but it is in this manner that I feel I most commonly interact with shame (www.ted.com). To make matters worse, I have consistently bottled this shame up within myself and have not communicated or acknowledged its existence. By so doing I have allowed shame to flourish within me. Dr. Brown added that shame, needs three things to grow exponentially: secrecy, silence, and judgment. Without knowing it, I have been effectively growing my own shame over the past twenty years. I personally desire to kill shame at its very roots in my mind now that its existence has been made known. Examining perfection could be the place to begin my quest to eliminate shame. Perfection for me has presented itself as a persistent need to properly meet or surpass expectations. There are always expectations that a person must live up to, and they may come from internal or external sources. These expectations can vary between cultures, but they are always present. • 10. The Feathers Of The Wind Feathers in the Wind I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for the final time. I attempted to gather my thoughts, but it was no use. There were no thoughts that could justify the action I needed to do. I composed myself and cocked back the lever to load my BB gun. The steel and carbonate composite that made up the gun never felt colder, even on a hot summer s day like today. The world seemed to stop spinning and there was nothing but silence. It was only myself and the task at hand. I removed my finger from the trigger guard and placed it behind the trigger itself. I closed my eyes again. I was ready to finish this. It was only an hour beforehand when I found it a little black and grey fuzzball, like something you would find when you go up to clean out your attic. I found it resting on the pavement of my driveway. It sat there baking in the hot August afternoon sun. It was just bobbing its little head around, but unable to move. I walked up to further investigate and to my unfortunate discovery, it was a small bird. It must have fallen out of the oak tree and took quite the flight down. Upon further inspection, I found that the bird had appalling injuries to its neck, head, and wing. The top of the head had a horrible gash which gave the bird the appearance of having a shaved head. It stuck out like a sore thumb. The wings were both mangled and broken. I quickly realized that this poor creature was not going to survive. I tried gathering a shoe box and feeding it and ... As they act in a so called feminine manner, people retreat from them out of discomfort or fear. Things and theory only matter if they have some basis in truth, after all. There is a term in psychology that backs up Butler s theory known concisely as the power of the situation. This self explanatory concept states that our actions are shaped more by the setting we find ourselves in rather than what we determine our personality to be. For instance, all cash accounts should be grouped and analyzed together, as they will be handled the same. The work is not done when the sorting and straightening has been completed, nonetheless. The newly sorted and straightened list should continue to be shined, another step of 5S, on a routine basis to make sure there are no changes. Chihiro is able to go on a journey that saves her and her parents, and because she succeeds in the end it is implied that it is important to hold on to your exceptionality even as you grow old. In Spirited Away, the only characters able to react to Chihiro s presence in the spirit world are the spirits. The spirits that work in the bath house aren t pleased that there is a human in their presence, they blame things on her, and make her do the dirty jobs. Towards the end of the movie these spirits get over their prejudices and begin to love Chihiro. In the beginning she is seen as simply a freak that doesn t belong, but by the end she proves herself and everyone has learned from her. • 32. Descriptive Essay About A Hot Air Balloon Hot Air Balloon One day I was just sitting at home while I was thinking about what to do, it was during thanksgiving so it was not only me thinking about what to do at the time. My whole family and I would usually do something fun for thanksgiving after we ate our thanksgiving dinner and talked and everything like that. I then had an idea that I had been wanting to do for a while but I didn t want to say it because I knew nobody would want to do it except me. But then I was getting scared about the idea I had myself; the idea I had was to go in a hot air balloon. I don t really know why but I suddenly had the courage to just tell them that I thought it was a good idea to go in a hot air balloon. I was expecting everyone to basically laugh at me and say no right when I said it, but I got a totally different reaction then I thought. My entire family liked the idea to go do it but they all said they were to scared, but we could still go because they said it would be really cool to watch me do it and anybody else that wanted to go up in the hot air balloon. So, before I could basically even try to get over my own fear of going up in the hot air balloon we were already on our way there. The best thing about it was is that where the hot air balloon place was, people that we knew worked there so not only did we get to go there in the first place. Now we go to do it for free, and I ll tell you what to go in a hot air balloon is not cheap. So basically, this idea I had that I thought was never going to happen was happening right in front of my eyes. So after about a 20 30 minute car ride to the hot air balloon lift off place; we finally arrived. When we finally got there and all of my family got to the place to lift off we had to talk about all of the rules. The rule that probably scared me the most was how you could not move around a lot because the basket you had to stand in. The basket was able to break if there was too much weight or there was too much movement and just other stuff that is possible. Also, another really scary thing I had to do before getting in the hot air balloon was to basically sign a waiver saying that if something goes wrong and I die it s not their fault. Throughout the old and new testament, we re presented with the theory of what the kingdom of God is. Only to find out it is either a safe haven for God s loyal followers or a sign of the imminent apocalypse (or second coming). Both beliefs of the kingdom of God were presented in the synoptic gospels, especially in the Gospel of Mark. The author in this case is able to combine the ideas of apocalyptic literature into the hopeful message that those who followed the Lord will be rewarded for their faithfulness. Ultimately, the gospel of Mark uses writing features of apocalyptic literature as a scare tactic for obedience. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is seen throughout the Gospel of Mark, the readers or early Christians were presented with the mindset that was needed in order to enter the kingdom of God. If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched, (Mark 9:43 48). Inherently, this metaphysical world is plagued by both evil and good, but which path is needed in order to enter the theorized kingdom of God? The Marcan Gospel claims the followers of Jesus must forgo what makes them sin, which can be considered the evil in this world. By doing this there is a promise of an eternal reward for going against the ways of the world. This idea highlights the concept presented in apocalyptic literature called divine justice. The premises behind divine justice is that the followers of Jesus may not get an earthly reward, but they will get a spiritual reward for their faithfulness. • 39. Historical Context In Lord Of The Flies Historical Context is Vital to Understand a Memoir Reading an excellent memoir is stepping into the author s past; the strokes of descriptive writing throughout the story paint a picture in the reader s mind, allowing one to escape from their own reality into another s. William Golding s Lord of the Flies and Elie Wiesel s Night each have a historical background; however, the importance of each varies depending on the type of literary work. Lord of the Flies tells a story of a large group of schoolboys that landed on an island after their plane crashed. These kids begin their adventure by electing a leader named Ralph, and initially they act civil, organized, and ready to survive. As the novel progresses, a rebellious older boy named Jack begins to act out, trying to replace Ralph with himself as leader. Eventually, the wild, rambunctious nature of these boys wreaks havoc on the ability of the group to survive together, and three boys tragically died before a Navy ship comes to their rescue. The historical context of this book is short; there is a World War happening, and the boys plane was shot down by an enemy pilot. This was the entire reason they were stranded on an island in the first place. • 40. An Study On Territoriality And Intrusion On Public Spaces This study focuses in on the topic of territoriality and intrusion in public spaces; more specifically this study focuses in on the effect of families with children on territoriality and intrusion in public spaces (e.g. parking lots). Territoriality can be defined as the protection of a temporary created space, wherein the creator of the space claims ownership and occupancy on the area. We operationally defined territoriality: it is the time it takes for a participant (driver) to contact with the car (start timer) to the time (in seconds) it takes for the participant s front bumper to leave the parking space. This definition can also be stated as departure time. Intrusion can be defined as the presence of an intruder who has the desire to enter a temporary created space that is owned by another person. Intrusion is operationally defined so that when the participant comes into contact with their vehicle, the participant understands that there is another driver(s) who will take their claimed parking space right after they leave. Our hypothesis is that families with children will take more time (more territorial) to leave a parking space. The opposite will also be true, participants without children will take less time to leave a parking space while the trend of increased territoriality because of intrusion remains for both scenarios. The importance in the exploration into the effect of children of territoriality and intrusion could lead to a more fruitful exploration into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Phantom of the Opera also issued a similar type of casting method when naming Norm Lewis as the first black actor to play the Phantom. However, the idea of color blindness is not a problem on stage so much as it is off stage. The biggest problem that many black playwrights and directors face is not that their work is not being produced, but that the pieces written about black communities by white men are often racist. Because much of white privilege doesn t have any interaction with blackness they have a tendency to congregate around pathology, and only focusing on particular things in the urban environment high crime, single parenthood, things like that and then they sort of tag that as being the black experience (Nichloson). Properly representing a culture different than the playwright s or producer s without being racist is a very tedious and difficult task which is why it is very important to have diversity in a show s production team. Black people are needed on the creative team of a show about a black community in order to have a fuller perspective of what black is, what black story is, and what black voice is (Nichloson).
