2.  Tally’s pre-defined set of voucher types may not be sufficient to fulfill all the
requirements of an organization. For example, the user would like to have a
separate voucher type for ‘Bank Payments. The user may also require separate
voucher types to track payments made through each bank A/c.
 From Gateway of Tally  select Accounts Info  select Voucher Types 
select Create  and the Voucher Type Creation screen is displayed.
Creation
Components of the ‘Voucher Type Creation’ Screen
The Components of the voucher type creation screen are discussed below
1. Name
In this field, the user can enter the name of the voucher being created.
The name given should be unique one for the new voucher type.
2. General
This sub-part contains various options, which have been discussed below

3. a) Type of Voucher
The new voucher type will inherit the properties of the pre-defined
voucher type. The user can select the pre-defined voucher type from the List of
Voucher Types pop-up menu.
b) Abbr.
An abbreviation is a short name given for the voucher type created.
c) Method of voucher Numbering ?
In this field, the user can specify options relating to numbering
vouchers. The following three methods are available
1.None
2.Manual
3.Automatic

4. d)Use Effective Dates for Vouchers ?
If the user wants to enter effective dates for vouchers, set this option to ‘Yes’.
e) Make ‘Optional’ as default ?
At the time of voucher entry, the voucher is marked as ‘Optional’ automatically.
Such vouchers will not affect the books of accounts.
f) Use Common Narration ?
Tally vouchers can have multiple entries. If the user sets this option to ‘Yes’, the
user can give a common narration for the entire voucher.
g) Narration for each entry ?
By setting this option to ‘Yes’, the user can give a separate narration for each entry
in the voucher.
h) Printing after saving voucher ?
This is suitable for an online environment, where the user uses vouchers printed
through Tally, as the formal voucher.

5. Display of Voucher Types
Voucher Types in Tally can be viewed by displaying them. Various options set for a particular voucher
type can be viewed in the ‘Voucher Type Display’ screen. However, it is not possible to alter options
in display mode.
Path : From Gateway of Tally  select Accounts Info –> select Voucher Types  select
Display  and from the List of Voucher Types pop-up menu, select the voucher type to be displayed.
The voucher Type Display screen appears.
Alteration of Voucher Types
Voucher types in Tally can be altered. Alteration may be required, if the user wants to
change various options available for a voucher type.
Path : From Gateway of Tally  select Accounts Info –> select Voucher Types  select
Alter  and from the List of Voucher Types pop-up menu, select the voucher type to be altered. The
voucher Type Alteration screen appears.
Deletion of Voucher Types
Tally’s pre-defined voucher types cannot be deleted. User created voucher types can be
deleted. To delete a voucher type, view it in ‘Voucher Type Alteration’ mode and use the Alt + D key. In
the Delete ? Yes or No sub-screen, which appears next, respond in affirmative to effect the deletion.
