This document provides instructions for creating ledgers in Tally. It notes that Tally automatically creates the Cash and Profit & Loss ledgers. To create additional ledgers, the user selects the Ledgers option from the Accounts Info menu. The user then provides key details when creating each ledger such as the name, group, whether inventory is affected, and optional opening balance. Proper creation of ledgers in Tally is important for accurate financial reporting and balances.

2.  Tally creates the following two ledgers on its own and the other
ledgers should be created by the user itself. Cash under Cash-in-hand group
and Profit and Loss account under Primary Ledger.

3. At Accounts Info Menu, select Ledgers to get Accounts Ledger Menu. At Account
Ledger Menu, Create under Single Ledger to get Account Ledger Creation Screen.
The user has to enter the following details in the above screen.
1. Name
Here, enter the name of the ledger. Tally, will not accept same names.
2. Under
Under this option, the user should select the group from the list of groups that will be
displayed along with the ledger creation screen.

4. 3. Inventory values are affected
This option should be given ‘Yes’ for those ledgers which will affect the
inventory position of the company.
4. Maintain balances Bill-by-Bill
This option is useful only for Sundry Debtors and Sundry Creditors.
5. Opening Balance
Enter the opening balance of the respective ledger account as on the date of
Books Beginning From option in Company Creation screen.
6. Opening Balance Difference
Tally displays the current Total of Debit and Credit Balances for ledgers
created and Difference under Total Opening Balance at right corner for information. The
Opening Balance difference will be reported in Trial Balance and in Balance Sheet.
