Coolmax is a specially engineered polyester fiber known for its moisture-wicking properties. It was developed by DuPont in 1986 and is now produced by Invista. Coolmax fabric has a structure that creates capillary action to draw moisture away from the skin through the fiber core and out to the surface of the fabric, keeping the wearer cool and dry. It is commonly used in clothing for outdoor sports and activities. The manufacturing process spins and molds polyester into a shape that allows for quick evaporation of moisture.
