3. INTRODUCTION
An internship is a period of work experience
offered by an organization for a limited period of
time.
It provide real world experience.
OBJECTIVE OF INTERNSHIP
Develop skills for interacting with practical
professional
In order to make practical knowledge in students
Ability to communicate effectively
4. ABOUT COMPANY
COMPANY PROFILE : Classic Associates consulting civil engingeers
It is ISO certified company.
Director of this company ER .SAMEER KHAN K.M (M.Tech CIVIL)
7. STAIRCASE
It providing access to different floors and roof of
the building. It consists of a flight of steps (stairs)
and one or more intermediate landing slabs
between the floor levels
TYPES OF STAIRCASE
1) STRAIGHT
2) DOG LEGGED
3) QUARTER TURN NEWEL
4) OPEN NEWEL
5) CIRCULAR
8. DOG LEGGED STAIRCASE
Its Consist of two straight flights running
in opposite direction
There is no space between flights in plan
Landing is provided at level which
direction of flight changes
9. CONSTRUCTION PROCESS OF DOG LEEGED
STAIRCASE
1) Staircase location and maping :
Fig.1: Staircase maping on wall Fig.2: mason’square
10. 2) Foundation and support for concrete stairs:
The foundation on which the concrete stairs rest is to be
properly constructed so that the loads of the stairs or
transferred into the ground successively and to resist the
moment of stairs
Fig.3 : Bottom support of staircase
11. . 3) Staircase form work :
The most important step when building concrete stairs is to
use a proper form work the angle of flight dimensions of
thread raiser and slope of building are to be properly
checked Material used wooden plywoods ,Timber
Fig.4 : Staircase form work Fig.5:Oiling on form work
12. .
4) Steel reinforcement work :
The staircase is to be reinforced with steel bars so as it
carries the loads coming upon the stairs and transfer them
to the ground
Fig.6: staircase reinforcement
13. 5) Concreting work :
Pouring of concrete into the formworks is started
from the below part to above. The concrete mix
plays an important role in strength and durability of
stairs
Fig.7 : Pouring of concrete to staircase
14. 6) Curing :
Curing is a process of spraying water over the set concrete.
Curing plays an important role on strength development and
durability of concrete.
Curing can start immediately after its final setting time of about
10 hour
Fig.8:
Curing of stair case
15. 7) Removing of form work :
The stairs requires at least 21 days to dry out completely
so the removal of formwork is to be done only
after 21 days
16. 8) Finishing of concrete stairs :
Once the formwork is removed, the stairs can be finished in
many ways as per the requirement of the use
Fig.10 : plastering of staircase
17. HANDRAILS :
Handrails is a rail that is designed to be grasped by the hand
so as to provide safety or support.
Fig.11: Handrails of staircase
18. MIX DESIGN OF CONCRETE
Concrete is a composite mixture which consist of
Cement, Sand and Aggregate
1.Grade designation: M20
2. Proportion: 1:1.5:3
3. Type of cement: OPC 43 grade
4. Maximum nominal size of aggregates: 20mm
5. Maximum water cement ratio: 0.55 (Table 5 of IS
456:2000)
6. Type of fine aggregate: River sand
7. Type of aggregate: Crushed angular aggregate

22. REFLECTION NOTES
The internship was a useful experience I have find out what
is my strenght and weakness.
The internship is a bridge between theoretical knowledge
and practical work.
I gained new knowledge skills and met many new people.
I achieved many of my learning goals
