Teaching Learning Theories From The Age Of Five As A...
Teaching Plan After identifying children under the age of five as a population at risk for obesity, the
decision was made to educate both these children and their parents on nutrition and exercise to help
prevent obesity. This teaching is part of the process of health teaching and health promotion, which
can provide patients with the opportunity to identify needed healthcare promotion, disease prevention,
and self management topics (ANA, 2015, p.65). This process of health teaching and learning takes
into account the developmental level of the patient, as well as their learning needs, their readiness and
ability to learn and many other factors (ANA, 2015, p.65). Two teaching learning theories were
utilized to guide the development of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further research was conducted in order to select an appropriate intervention for each group. As part
of the process of health teaching and health promotion, the registered nurse uses technologies to

Please Like Me: Facebook and Public Health Communication , it is mentioned that public health
organizations have recently recognized that they can utilize social media sites such as Facebook to
engage their target population (Kite, Foley, Grunseit Freeman, 2016). Kite et al. further describe the
benefits of using social media for health communication, which include the ability to make health
information more available, sharable, and tailored; to provide peer, social, or emotional support; and
to influence health policy (2016). Also, the public is often open to the idea of receiving health
information through social media. Using social media sites as communication techniques has been
shown to be effective in public health promotion of things like tobacco control, where they have been
shown to influence attitudes, knowledge, and behavior change (Kite et al., 2016). Using this
knowledge, the decision was made to develop a Facebook page for the parents, which would include
daily tips, facts, quizzes and more regarding nutrition and exercise.

Visual Search Case Studies
1.) Visual Search In this activity I participated in a classic psychological experiment that uses visual
search tasks to explore fundamental process of visual perception and attention. In general I learned
that selective attention filters enable us to make more automatic decisions about the stimuli around us,
including which items to pay attention to during a visual search. Also, since your brain is always
active and sees visual sights and sensory information, your mind copes by automatically screening or
filtering incoming sensory information to let in only what is most important. Specifically, I learned
that the first set of trials I did were the feature search part of the experience and the second set of trials
were the conjunction search part of the experience. What I learned about my self after doing this
activity is that I had a quick reaction time on the first set of trials as I was asked to find a blue circle
amid orange squares and circles. But, on the second set of trials my reaction time was not as quick as
it first was. On the second set of trials, I was asked to find the blue circle amid blue squares and
orange circles. I believe my reaction time was quicker on the first set of trials due to the fact that I was
just looking for the color blue among orange squares and circles, but on the second set of trials I was
looking for a blue circle among blue squares and orange squares. Therefore, the blue squares were
distractors from the blue circle and I was forced

The Benefits Of Sleeping On A Problem Essay
The Benefits of Sleeping on a Problem Introduction If you re like most people, you have probably
been told, when you re struggling with a problem or decision, that it s a good idea to sleep on it. It s
something that people say so frequently that it has become something of a cliché. Like most clichés,
though, it turns out that there s some truth to it. In 1865, a German chemist named Friedrich August
Kekule von Stradonitz solved a problem that had been puzzling scientists for decades. He published a
paper identifying the structure of benzene as a ring of carbon atoms. Years later, when he was giving a
talk about how he made his breakthrough discovery, he credited it to a dream he d had. In the dream,
he saw an image of a serpent swallowing its own tail, something that is called ouroboros. The symbol
dates back to early Indian, Egyptian and Greek mythology. The sight of the symbol revealed the ring
like structure of benzene to him. Von Stradonitz is not alone. History is littered with similar examples.
Human beings sometimes wake up with the solution to a complex problem, something they have been
wrestling with, clear in their heads. Why does this happen? Is there scientific merit to the idea of
sleeping on a problem? In this article, we will explore the notion that sleeping on a problem can help
us solve it. It s a somewhat complex topic, but one worth investigating. The first key to understanding
what happens in our brains while we sleep is to talk about why we need

The Clause And Other Clauses Of The Constitution
The vesting clause and other clauses of Article II of the Constitution vaguely define the powers and
duties of the President, allowing the presidential power to be flexible enough to adapt to times of
national emergency. Through the system of checks and balances, the president s immense powers are
limited. In Article II of the Constitution, the vesting clause and other clauses account, but poorly
describe, the powers, role in foreign policy, and duties of the president granting room for
interpretation and adaptation to national emergencies. The first sentence of Article II states The
executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America (U.S. Constitution. Art.
II). This designates the president the powers of the executive branch of government and the position as
the head of the cabinet and executive departments. The president also has the Power to grant
Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States (U.S. Constitution. Art. II). With the
exception of impeachment, the president has the power to grant postponement of punishment or
release from penalty to any individual in the United States. In order to prevent government paralysis,
the Framers administered to the president the Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during
the Recess of the Senate (U.S. Constitution. Art. II), with the ability to also nominate judges of the
Supreme Court and other federal courts. In Article II of the Constitution, while describing

Describe The Causes And Effects Of Vitamin D
1.1 Vitamin D
Vitamin D is responsible for regulating the passage of calcium (Ca 2+ ) to the bones. Therefore, if
vitamin D is missing, this step does not occur and the bones begin to weaken and curl causing
irreversible malformations: rickets. This disease especially affects children.
Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of organs and systems through multiple
functions, such as: the regulation of calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood, promoting the
intestinal absorption of them from food and reabsorption of calcium at the renal level. With this it
contributes to bone formation and mineralization, being essential for the development of the skeleton.
However, in very high doses, it can lead to bone resorption.
It also inhibits the secretions of parathyroid hormone (PTH) from the parathyroid gland and affects the
immune system due to its immunosuppressive role, promotion of phagocytosis and antitumor activity.
It is estimated that 1000 IU per day is the amount of vitamin D sufficient for a healthy adult
individual, whether male or female.
1.2.1 Mechanism
Vitamin D is a prohormone, so it has no hormonal activity by itself, but it is converted to the active
hormone (calcitriol) through a highly regulated synthesis mechanism. The synthesis of cholesterol in
the liver by means of Acetyl CoA is the first step, after several complex changes we reach an
intermediate called 7 dehydrocholesterol. When the UV rays have contact with the skin, this 7
dehydrocholesterol has transformations producing vitamin D3. This vitamin D3 is not biologically
active therefore must be subjected to two hydroxylations: the first in the liver forming 25
hydroxycholecalciferol (calcidiol) and the second in the kidney forming 1,25 dihydroxycholecalciferol
also called calcitriol (active form). Vitamin D2 follows the same process (without the need for UV
rays) to form 1,25 dihydroxiergocalciferol. 7 The production of vitamin D in nature, apparently
requires the presence of UV rays, even vitamin E in edible food is ultimately derived from organisms;
from mushrooms or fungi to animals, which cannot synthesize it except through the action of solar
rays, at some point in the synthetic chain. For example, fish contain vitamin

History And History Of The Renaissance In The 15th Century
15th Century Without the 15th century the world would look majorly different than it does today. The
King and Queens, explorers, and strong religious followers made decisions that they never even knew
were going to change the world and how people would live on earth in the future. The 15th Century
was a century of discoveries, political, and social changes. It would be a century that would make the
world a smaller place. The 15th Century would go from the Middle Ages to the early Renaissance.
Massive events happened in the 15th century that changed the world in many ways. It was the century
of internal squabbles amongst countries to the exploring of the unknowns. The 15th Century was a
very exciting period of history, like when Spain discovered North America, Europe discovered new
trade routes to China, and England rose to power. In 1492 Christopher Columbus from Spain would
discover North America and because of that he changed the world (Heilbrunn Timeline of Art
History). The culture of North America at the time when he discovered was very rural and basic very
different from Spain. There were many different tribes of Indians in North America and many different
languages (Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History). The Indian tribes were led by Chiefs and councils and
Spain was ruled by kings. Christopher Columbus was sent on his journey by King Ferdinand and
Queen Isabella of Spain ( Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History). A monarch type government, typical of

Short Term Paper On Insomnia
Jules Verne once said, Though sleep is our bestfriend, it is a friend who often keeps us waiting! Sleep
is a very essential part of our day to day lives. However, if we do not get enough sleep, it can lead to a
common type of sleeping disorder called Insomnia. Insomnia is a disorder characterized by inability to
sleep or a total lack of sleep (Saddiccha 1). The simplest definition is being unable to sleep or to stay
asleep. Insomnia is derived from the Latin word insomnus which literally means no sleep. In 1818,
Insomnia was named as the first psychosomatic disorder by the German Physicist named Johann
Heinroth. Studies show that about 33 50% of adults have symptoms of insomnia but only 10 15% of
the general population actually have insomnia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number one treatment that many Insomniacs (people with insomnia) are recommended to take are
behavioral therapies. Behavioral therapies include education about good sleeping habits, cognitive
behavioral therapy (which is the process of eliminating or controlling negative thoughts), Relaxation
techniques, Stimulus control and many other types of treatments (Saddiccha, 1). Patients can actually
choose what they think is best for them but it is better to take the doctor s advice. A fact that most
people believe is that sleeping pills can actually cure insomnia. Sleeping pills can help a patient sleep
but it cannot actually cure insomnia (Thrasybule, 1). Also, most doctors do not recommend on taking
prescription sleeping pills for more than a few weeks but there other sleeping pills that are approved
for long term use ( Insomnia, 1). Since many people are being affected by Insomnia there are several
ways we can prevent and at the same time treat this particular disorder. The key is to change your
daily routine, and you can do this by exercising regularly, avoiding caffeine, getting regular exposure
to the late afternoon sun and practicing stress reduction techniques ( Insomnia, 1). Insomnia is mostly
under recognized, under diagnosed, and under treated which is suggesting that most people don t take
it as a big deal when it should be (Saddiccha, 1). If we work together as a community to make

History Of Tobacco During The Colonial Period
Amanda Dai Mr. Howden Apush, Period 3 15 August 2015 Short Answers 2. (a). Tobacco, as it relates
to the early colonial period, was a fundamental cash crop for the southern colonies. It was first
discovered by Europeans after Columbus s first return from the West Indies, and by the early 17th
century, tobacco from the Spanish colonies was widely used throughout Europe. John Rolfe, a
Jamestown planter, experimented and produced high quality tobacco which quickly spread throughout
the Chesapeake Bay. As there was great demand for tobacco in Europe, planters grew tremendously
wealthy and occasionally made the surrounding region prosperous. However, the farmers often
produced more than the demand which caused the price of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The economy of the southern colonies, particularly in the Chesapeake region, reflected the rise and
fall of the demand for tobacco. (c). Even though tobacco was a crop, it helped shape the social
structure of the southern colonies in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The wealthy planters,
who wanted to expand their plantations required new cheap laborers. At first they used indentured
servants, but after they realized that the indentured servants were creating a large source of potential
social unrest, they moved towards using slaves. After the 1700s most tobacco plantations employed
several dozen or more slaves. The slave work force had not only an economic effect but also a social
effect. They formed a new social class, which made up the bottom of the social ladder, below the
landless, unemployed white men who were previously the lowest class. The slave society also formed
their own culture with their own language and kinship. The demand for tobacco, led to the demand of
labor, which shaped the social structure of the southern colonies. 3. (a). In 1676, Nathaniel Bacon led
a group on an unauthorized attack on the natives which became a military defiance of the colonial
government. Pre rebellion there was a lot of political turmoil and unrest in the backcountry, which was
in part because the new western landowners, including Bacon, strongly disagreed with the eastern
tidewater leaders over many policies; mainly on

Why I Don t Go For A Run
A lot of people dislike running and the thought of getting up super early in the morning to go for a run
can seem even more daunting. However, I hold a different view because if I don t go for an early
morning run, I feel tired and terrible for the whole day. It all began in high school, when i joined Cross
country and track in my freshmen year. I really started to enjoy running and was quite good at it.
During winter break, we didn t have practices and we were supposed to run on our own. Therefore, I
used to make time to run in the evenings everyday during the break. One day on break, I was supposed
to be busy the whole day and decided that I wouldn t find time to run, so I decided to wake up early
and finish my run. This was one of the best decisions I had ever made, because It helped me
developed a good habit that i follow till this day and helps me stay healthy. That morning getting up
was hard but once I got out of the bed it was easy. I drank a glass of water and ate a banana. Since it
was winter, I also put on my gloves and a warm hat. With my bright blue shoes laced up, i left my
house and the experience I had is the reason I wake up early to run everyday. Right off the bat during
my run, it felt strange. There were no sounds of cars! It was oddly quiet except for a few birds
chirping here and there. It felt really peaceful. There was a mild fog that made the scene even more
interesting. Since it was winter the houses were decorated with Christmas lights as well

As I finished the last words of the novel, my jaw dropped. It s such an incredible classic book. Not
truly a science fiction lover, I did not really think I would enjoy it, as I don t really like the aliens and
spaceships in other science fiction novels. The novel is, at first glimpse, a little peculiar and strange,
but once you really get into it, you realize how sad and how good of a moral this story has. It really
draws you in and opens your eyes to the world around you.
The story is told in such a unique way that it hooked me in after the first chapter. It is told in progress
reports of the main character, Charlie Gordon, which is such an academically genius idea because the
reader is able to see how Charlie s intelligence grows. The opening paragraph (the first progress
report), throws us into this world.
Personally, I really do recommend reading this book. The impact the novel can make on a person and
how it easily the novel shies away from the stereotypical ideal classical novel is incredible. It is
definitely required reading in my

1979), it performs poorly in correctly classifying Native Americans, especially those from the

incorrect classification of Native Americans from the Northwestern Plains, which has been shown to
occur 70% of the time when using this technique (Gill and Gilbert 1990). Hoping to address the
shortcomings of the Giles and Elliot technique (1962) with regard to Native American populations, the
interorbital features method was developed by Gill in 1984 with particular attention paid to accurately
distinguishing between individuals of European and Native American descent. The interorbital
features method utilizes a specialized coordinate caliper called a simometer (see Appendix I for
image) and involves a set of six measurements taken from the midfacial skeleton, followed by
computation of three indices: maxillofrontal, zygoorbital, and alpha. The three indices are calculated
by dividing three breadth measurements into their corresponding subtense measurements, then
multiplying by 100 (Gill et al. 1988). The six measurements as described by Gill et al. (1988) are
summarized in detail below, and images of the technique follow (Figure 1). 1. Maxillofrontal breadth:

Essay on Amnesia in Memento Directed by Christopher Nash
The film, Memento, tells a multidimensional story about a man, Leonard Shelby, who suffers from
short term memory loss illness, anterograde amnesia. He is impaired by this medical issue due to
being hit on the head when defending his wife, who was attacked and raped in their house during the
middle of the night. He kills one of the invaders during the attack. With inability to form new
memories, one of the last things Leonard remembers is seeing his wife, die. He then devotes his life to
finding and killing the second attacker. However, Leonard, being unable to store and remember new
memories, develops a technique to help him recall what has already happened in his life post head
trauma. He does this by using hand written notes, tattoos, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie switches back and forth between various series of color and black and white sequences.
The black and white scenes illustrate the story in chronological order; whereas the scenes in color
continue in reverse chronological order, demonstrating the use of flashbacks. However, the opening
credits unfolds a scene of Leonard killing Teddy, who is a claimed and assumed, but unproven police
officer, assigned to the rape of Catherine Shelby, Leonard s wife. He is also an acquaintance of
Leonard, who attempted to assist him in his determined search for his wife s killer. Although, the
audience realizes this beginning scene actually exposes the end of the conclusion of the story. The
black and white sequential scenes and the reversal color scenes alternate awaiting the conclusion of
the film where they meet in the middle of the story.
Director and screenwriter, Christopher Nolan, portrays the movie s protagonist, Leonard Shelby, as a
flawed hero tries to find some justice in an unfair world, as wrong was done onto him with the rape
and murder of his wife. This neo noir thematic device is displayed through Leonard, as he is, at heart,
a genuinely good person, despite making questionably moral decisions, in this case to naivety and
gullibility due to his mental incapability. Suffering anterograde amnesia, the death of his wife is a

Defining Love In Sir Thomas Wyatt And Samuel Daniels
Sir Thomas Wyatt and Samuel Daniels have sonnets in which the speaker is attempting to define love.
With one speaker stating his daily life and the other expressing the feeling through paradoxes, both
ultimately end up with poems that are not conventionally good love poems. I allege that the reason
they cannot effectively define love is that they do not truly understand it because their own egos blind
them from it. The scope of both sonnets is restricted to simply the speakers focus and they spend all
fourteen lines saying things of little consequence. Rather than getting across the point that they are in
love, they are showing their disillusionment in regards to what love is because they are so self
centered and thus inadept at writing poetry. I aim to reveal that these sonnets reveal more about the
speakers than about love through their choice of rhyme scheme, rhetorical devices, meter, and
repetition.
The speakers use different rhyme schemes. I find no peace is a Petrarchan sonnet and If this be love is
a Shakespearean sonnet. While not actually flouting the conventional patterns, the speakers use diction
that hardly allows the sonnets to be easily identified by their rhyme schemes. In the first and fourth
lines of I find no peace, for example, the speaker seems to rhyme done with on (Wyatt ll. 1, 4). Instead
of altering the word choice to better fit the Petrarchan rhyme scheme, the speaker writes in the only
diction he can think of. Wyatt s speaker is so focused on himself and his paradoxical experience of
love that he fails to create an effective sonnet.
We see a similar disregard for the standard form by Daniel s speaker. The rhyme scheme of a
Shakespearean sonnet is there, though not obviously with the speaker attempting to rhyme thoughts
and notes in the last quatrain (Daniel ll. 9, 11). I believe the weakness in the overall rhyme scheme
implies that the speaker is careless of tradition. This loose rhyming shows a lack of regard for the form
the speaker is attempting to emulate, further emphasizing the possibility that his goal has not been to
define love but to prove to others, and himself, that he is in love.
Wyatt s speaker describes love primarily by using paradoxes. However, he

The Negative Effects Of Family And Family Homelessness
Family and child homelessness has been a major social problem within the United states since the
1980s (Bassuk). According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, it is a
problem that affected 79,446 family households in January 2010, and over 1.5 million children
between the years of 2005 and 2006. Family and child homelessness is a genuine issue that although
has increased to 37% of the overall homeless, and is said to have reached an historic high (Bassuk), it
has not been discussed or addressed. Homelessness affects every one in 30 children in the U.S, which
is a major increase in recent years. 2.4 million children were affected by homelessness in 2013, which
was an increase from the 1.6 million that were affected in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, Ashley De Marcus of the Tennessee Research and Creative Exchange stated that homeless
students opposed to students who are not homeless are twice as likely to repeat a grade. Homeless
high school students also show a similar trend of lowered skills in math and reading. According to
Carolyn Shields and Erica Mohan, only 11.4% proficient in math and 14.6% of homeless high school
students are proficient in reading. This is a 20.8% and 16.3% difference in students who have homes
who are 32.2% proficient in math and 30.9% proficient in reading. As you can see, the skills level of
math and reading for homeless students continues to get worse. Stronger even confirmed this in his
1992 study of homeless students. Stronger found that homeless students were scoring a year under
their grade level and the deficit had increase up to three years as they got older. As we can see, this is
still a true statement as the skill levels from elementary and high school has decreased significantly.
The problem of mental disorders is a major one among homeless families. However, the mental health
of homeless children has been less systematically researched, and almost all the available data is based
on research studies of children in homeless shelters in the USA (Bushra 1996). Various terms, such as
behavioral problems/difficulties, psychosocial maladjustment or mental health disorders, are often
used to describe the degree

Local Area Networks Are Hampered By The Cost, Performance,...
VLANs In the past, companies were hampered by the cost, performance, and security issues that are
associated with local area networks or LANs. LANs must be connected physically to switches which
means that each LAN must have its own switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The virtualized version
of the LANs, virtual local area networks (VLANs), allows users to invest in only one switch
(prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The VLAN is used in the virtual data center environment to separate a
single LAN into more than one network while being physically connected to one switch. One
advantage of VLANs is that network administrators can now sort devices by whatever criteria they
require without physical location being an issue. Different VLANs can be set for different groups or
departments within the same LAN. Performance is improved because, when the LAN is broken up
into VLANs, it is not receiving broadcasts from all of the devices (certbros.com, 2015, para. 4). Cost
is decreased because separate switches are not required for VLANs. A security benefit is provided
because VLANs can be configured to accommodate the different security levels needed, and the
administrator can choose whether or not to allow the VLANs to communicate with each other
(certbros.com, 2015, para. 6). VRFs Virtualization is also used in the data center to acquire more
routing instances without acquiring more hardware (Santana, 2014. P. 90). This technology is known
as Virtual Routing and Forwarding

The, The Yellow Wallpaper, And Mississippi Native William...
How does one distinguish the difference between reality and fantasy? Can our realities be so complex
and unwanted that we are simply unable to grasp it? Coming to terms with actuality allows us to
accept and find who we are. If we choose to neglect and become unaware with reality we may become
delusional to the point of becoming insane. Feminist Charlotte Gilman s (1860 1935) The Yellow
Wallpaper and Mississippi native William Faulkner s (1897 1962) A Rose for Emily both contain
extreme delusional characters ( Charlotte Perkins Gilman , William Faulkner ). These characters lose
touch with the real world and slowly begin to exhibit madness. Although both characters are unable to
grasp reality, they both express distinct methods that show the severity and capability of their insanity.
Gilman s and Faulkner s main characters, Emily and the other who is unnamed, both lose touch with
reality. In both works, the characters portray this as they become isolated. For example, in A Rose for
Emily , Emily s isolation began when her father died. Emily rarely went out and after her sweetheart
went away, people hardly saw her at all. (226) The death of her father, as well as the death of her
sweetheart , made Emily feel depressed, thus causing her to go into solidarity (226). Shutting herself
from the real world made Emily unable to grasp reality. Her reality was the death of the two men. In
The Yellow Wallpaper , the unnamed character was also isolated, but only because her

Juvenal Essay
Juvenal
Juvenal was a Roman Satirist active in the late 1st and early 2nd century AD
Biography: Born in Aquinum, Italy at around 55 60 CE and died around 127 or later. He is not really
mentioned by anyone except Martial, who calls him eloquent and describes him as living a poor life
kissing up to the rich. It is thought that his family was fairly well off, and that the first step he made
towards a career was when he became an officer in the army in the administrative service of the
emperor Domitian (81 96 CE) but was never promoted, which upset him. Upset, he wrote a satire
about how court favorites had an unfair influence in the promotion system, and as a result of this
writing he was given the boot and banished to Syene, a remote frontier town (now Aswan in Egypt).
His property was also confiscated. After Domitian kicked the bucket in 96, Juvenal made his return to
Rome. However without any money he had no choice to be a client on the charity of the rich. After a
couple of years he was elderly, and living a more humble life in Rome possessing a farm at Tibur with
livestock and servants. Although generally pessimistic his later works show a few hints humanity and
kindness. No record of his death however he is estimated to have died around 127. ... Show more

He also wrote at least 16 poems in Dactylic hexameter covering a large range of topics in the Roman

Reputation: Juvenal s satires could be interpreted as a critique on paganism in Rome, ensuring his
works survival. Although forgotten after his death his work was later read and quoted by the Christian
propagandist Tertullian around 200 CE and a commentary on the satires was compiled somewhere
around 350 420 CE and has been studied since.

The Themes Of Violence In John Winslow s The Cartel
As previously mentioned drug cartels are extremely known for their super violent image. Being a
narco narrative itself, the storyline couldn t omit the theme of violence without discriminations
between men, women and children. A typical scene of violence is that of a trained by the Zetas 11 year
old Chicano kid, a sicario, who is on runaway after opening fire against a crowd and tossing five
severed heads onto the white tiled dance floor. Winslow uses an unorthodox method at his story as
parts of the novel are told from the perspective of a child member of La Familia, suffering from heavy
psychic and physical traumas. Even tougher than the outright violence is the slow destruction of
idealists either they belong to the braches of journalism or politics. For the first, special memorial
reference is included in the book. Winslow is considered to depict the theme of raw violence so as to
raise the audience s awareness of the real violence taking place in Mexico and the war on drugs.
Therefore, it is rightfully said that The Cartel is a pure novelization of the Mexican American reality.
Because of this relative obscurity, many readers might come to believe that most of the events in this
book were created and invented by the author. They would be wrong most of the events that Winslow
described really happened. Sometimes the truth and reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Essay on Free Will
Free Will
A definition of free will, as we have seen, can be misunderstood and easily distorted. For the purpose
of this essay free will, will be defined as the ability to chose, express ones feelings, emotions, or
actions unconditionally.
From the first time I understood the meaning of what free will was, I believed in it 100%. I had the
right and ability to choose what ever I liked. Not only did I believe that I had free will but if I ever
heard otherwise I felt that the other person did not have a clear understanding of what free will was,
and as a result I could demonstrate a fairly strong persuasive argument opposing anything but the

I grew up in a household where I was taught that I was and will always be free. I also never had any
religious affiliation within my first 8 years of schooling, which might have influenced me to think
differently. The illustration of a gun to ones head is also rooted within the environment of others as
well as my own. We can assume that the majority of people would want to live in that situation and
therefore follow what is being asked of them. Now is that there free will? I don t think so. The fact
that they choose to live is based on their enjoyment of life and there lessons that they have been taught
by their upbringing, this is their environment. The same would be true on an extreme end. Somebody
may make the decision to not obey and sacrifice his or her life because of extreme misery and
discontent. Furthermore, the reason for the unhappiness may be a result of heredity. The victim s
mother could have used drugs, or something similar that which had an effect on her child.
God plays an interesting role in this explanation of free will. Presently, after having about 7 years of
religious education I feel like I am educated enough to speak of God. I believe that people can be
affected by God within there decision making and often have God make the choice for them. For
example, the choice to remain celibate until marriage, that is God s wishes

The Changing Role of Organizational Performance Measurement System
How to create and measure organizational performance measurement system has been a persistent
source of debate. Traditionally, organizational performance management system included measuring
financial ratios, such as return on investments, cash flows, and cost of sales.
Figure one below depicts traditional performance indicators, focused mostly on financial measures.

In the recent years the focus has been on measuring non financial ratios, such as quality, customer
satisfaction, safety and other stakeholders. Figure Two shows the new performance indicators,
incorporating quality together with other financial indicators.

Many laws and punishments have been written to prevent piracy and its consequences. In 1897,
Congress established a branch entitled The U.S. Copyright Office, which constructs and enforces
copyright law. The complexity of the penalty has grown along with the excessive abuse of pirated
content (Congress). Simply scribbling over a copyright notice in a book is a twenty five thousand
dollar fine. If more than one act of intentional copyright infringement is committed within a six month
period, the culprit may be fined a sum worth a given ratio to the value of the stolen products as well as
a sentenced of one to five years in prison. given the severity of the situation, fines can range from five
hundred thousand to one million dollars (Stim, 315 319). The prison sentence can also be extended to
up to ten years.
When taken to court, cases of copyright infringement become extremely hazy. The victim must prove
not only that the material is a copy or semblance of their product. simple details can turn an entire

Affective Context Effect
Another prominent bias characterizing anxiety is in interpretation or processing of the uncertain and
the unknown. We encounter ambiguous situations in our life daily, but what differs is our subjective
interpretation and processing of that situation. Anxious individuals find themselves to be uneasy all
the time, the main culprits being their thoughts and perceptions about themselves and the world, which
are revealed by the way they process and resolve ambiguity. In an ambiguous situation, processing in
anxiety could be mood congruent or context related (Richards, Holmes, Pell Bethell, 2013). Bower
(1981) and Blanchette, Richards and Cross, (2007) have found evidence for mood congruent
hypothesis whereas evidence to support a context effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, most studies investigating the context effect, presented the context concurrently with the
stimuli (Richards, Blanchette Munjiza, 2007; Blanchette Richards 2003). Thus, the chances of it
affecting the processing of information were not certain. A particular experimental paradigm used to
study context effect is the adaptation paradigm, which ensures complete influence of the context.
Adaptation can be defined as a change in response of the sensory system to a constant stimulus. The
classic experiment of adaptation after effect was of color, where a red square gives a green perception
after adapting to it for a few seconds (Clifford Rhodes, 2005). This adaptation after effect is also found
with all the different identities and facial expressions (Fox Barton, 2007) but the magnitude of effect
depends on congruence of identity (Pell Richards, 2013), duration (Rhodes, Jeffery, Clifford Leopold,
2007) and familiarity of the faces (Carbon et al., 2007). Adaptation effect is strongest when the
adaptor is presented for a longer period of time, when the identity of the target and adaptor are
congruent and when the face used is a familiar one. The fact that the strength of this effect is present
across various dimensions like gender, expressions and identity, shows that adaptation is strategic and
occurs at a higher level of visual and perceptual processing (Watson Clifford, 2003). One of the
explanations for the adaptation phenomenon is response suppression which refers to the reduced firing
rate of the neurons in response to repeated stimuli (Desimone., 1996; Huber O Reilly 2003). Wiggs
and Martin (1998) advanced this idea and suggested that when a

Testaments Betrayed Analysis
While humans often live life in a duality, with a face they put on for the public and the true character
they show with friends, the private life may easily seep into the public eye. In his piece Testaments
Betrayed, Czech writer Milan Kundera asserts that the curtain between public and private lives is not
to be removed, and those who do so are deplorable voyeurs. Although it is immoral for one to reveal
another s private life, the barrier between public and private lives must be torn down when the public
benefits, whether by the intruder or the individual in question himself. For those declaring the need for
a societal shift in paradigm, leaders of a movement often need to intertwine their personal stories to

An individual s rights are secondary to those of society, which seeks to benefit and advance more. Eric
Garner was fatally choked by NYC police in 2015, prompting the rise of the Black Lives Matter
movement. His last words, I can t breathe, were captured on video and shared millions of times while
he was fading in and out of consciousness. While the bystander capturing the video may have intruded
into his privacy, that moment was a necessary mingling of public and private because it personified
the outrage present in society. In doing so, the bystanders demonstrated to a broad audience the
injustice present in society. The dual nature of an individual s public and private personas also exactly
demonstrates the necessity in breaching personal privacy, for individuals may have a different
personal agenda than the public façade they create. Many colleges now review a student s social
media profiles as a part of the holistic admissions process in order to verify the authenticity of a
student s supposed character. I personally had a friend who was a Big 10 bound athlete have his
contracts revoked because of his braggadocios nature on social media, often proclaiming how he had
received contracts from schools that, in reality, had not extended one. While supposedly a breach in
privacy of the prospective athlete, this step is necessary in the admissions process to ensure that the
team and college in general has a reputable student body. Thus, the curtain of privacy must be torn

The Contributions of the Iroquois Essay
The Contributions of the Iroquois
The Native American Indian tribe called the Iroquois contributed greatly toward America. They have
many stories about the world, and how things came to be the way they are. They have one story about
the creation of the world. They use oral traditional elements in this story which is represented by
nature. They also use a romantic aspect, which is represented by God s and the super natural. In the
beginning there were two worlds. The lower world, and the upper world. Everything existed in total
darkness. The upper world was to hold mankind, and the lower world was where all of the monsters
lived. A woman gave birth too twins. One twin was the good mind and the other was the evil mind.

history is the Iroquois. The Iroquois Indians have been estimated to have been around as early as 900
ad. They lived in what are called long houses. The long houses were built in rows of one or two. They
could be up to 200 feet long and 20 feet wide. These homes accommodated 5 to 20 families. They had
a central hole in the center of the house that was used for a fire that all of the families used. The
houses were covered in elm bark on the outside. The villages were for the most part permanent. They
only moved villages when they needed to. A reason for moving the village would have been if they
had used up all of the fertile land. The Iroquois moved about every 20 years. The Iroquois lived in
what is today upstate New York and parts of Canada along the ST. Lawrence River Valley. The
Iroquois were once one strong nation. In the mid 1500 s the Europeans started moving into the St.
Lawrence River Valley, and the Nation was split up. It was split into five Nations. The Mohawk,

Short Story The Fly
In the short story The Fly, readers are introduced to the world of grief and coping through a snapshot
into the life of a grieving father. It raises the question as to whether it is better to forget and let go or
hold on to the precious memories we have with loved ones no matter the hurt. Traditionally strong
emotions and grief are associated with female characters. However the boss gives readers an
opportunity to delve into the masculine emotions that are often times hidden. This journey through
emotion and longing also demonstrates how as humans we sometimes find joy in our pain. To let go of
grief and pain means to let go of pieces of ourselves. The selfishness that encompasses this realization
is present throughout.
Several instances within the narration give way to the fact that the boss uses the loss of his son to
gratify his own masochistic tendencies. The first glimpse into this is given as a portrait of his son is
explained to the readers. Instead of utilizing a photograph or picture that represents a time of joy or
fond memories, the boss chose to hang a portrait he dislikes. Since his son died while serving his
country, the portrait of him in his uniform only incites further grief as it offers a reminder of how his
son passed. Most would choose to honor their loved one in happier times. The second instance is the
boss s reflection on times past where he was able to freely wallow in his grief. Despite the time of six

Resources should be well balanced so if the resources are not needed they shouldn t been used.
Prioritisation The company should prioritize some of the aspect when performing repair as they might
be more important and they should be repaired first. For example if network is down and at the same
time printer is not working. The person that perform repair should concentrate on repairing network
instead of printer as without network printer would be useless. Contractual Requirements In a
company, the support team staff would be required to work shifts that will provide coverage for the
employees when the offices are officially opened, they will also need to provide extra time in the
evening and weekends, where they will carry out the essential maintenance which may have to
involve some downtime. The hours that an employee will have to work will be set out for them in
what is called an employment contract. They will be limited by the EU legislation and some other
regulations such as working time regulations, which will provide the basic right and protections such
as: A worker can be required to work at most an average of 48 hours a week (though workers can
choose to work more if they want to). For night workers there is a limit of an average of 8 hours

Legalize Euthanasia And Compassionate Society Dies Too By...
Paul Kelly s opinion piece Legalise euthanasia, and compassionate society dies too (October 1st 2016)
is about his view of how it should not be legalised. This piece argues all the problems that will follow
if euthanasia is legalised using statistics, rhetorical questions, emotive language, expert advice,
repetition and anecdotes. The use of rhetorical questions really enquires if the government had taken
everything into consideration and looked at all the factors before making the final decision. The writer
starts of by stating If you sanction killing for end of life pain relief, how can you deny this right to
people in pan who aren t dying? . The writer uses similar comparisons to show the minor details in
this all and that they cannot satisfy everyone s needs. They then continue by stating four more
examples of this. Using rhetorical questions to show the comparisons makes the people think about
how this will effect on someone s life and that it not everyone will ultimately get what they want. You
can also include emotive language into rhetorical questions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The writer starts off the opinion piece by saying If you love your parents, respect your children, care
for your society and think compassionately about your world... . Using this example hooks the readers
and makes them think about their own families and not just a political point of view. This is also an
example of repetition, as the word your is repeating every time. Using repetition is very captivating as
it grabs the reader s attention and gets the point across. Repeating the word your is also very attention
grabbing as it makes it seem directly directed to the

Mousepox Model
Smallpox is an acute contagious viral disease that has a relatively high fatality rate in immunologically
naive populations. It is caused by variola virus, which is a member of a larger pox family of viruses.
Smallpox can manifest itself in two clinical forms (variola major and variola minor) and it can be
transmitted from person to person. There is no specific treatment for this disease other than the
management of symptoms.
It is believed that smallpox originated about 3000 years ago in either Egypt or India. Due to its high
mortality rate, outbreaks of this disease had a significant impact on the course of history. During the
twentieth century alone, smallpox is estimated to have caused over 500 million human deaths around
the world.

Ordinary smallpox can be found between those two extreme scenarios.
Establishing a diagnosis
In December 1979, a scientific commission concluded that smallpox had been globally eradicated and
the World Health Assembly endorsed its findings in 1980. Nevertheless, a future outbreak of smallpox
due to the release of variola virus whether accidental or deliberate cannot be fully excluded.
Due to the serious consequences of a diagnosis or misdiagnosis of smallpox, it is of utter most
importance to reliably and unambiguously identify smallpox, as well as to differentiate it from other
similar clinical entities. Although there are other causes of rash that present as vesicles and pustules,
smallpox can be distinguished by severe prodrome and its course.
Clinical case definition of smallpox states that this disease presents with acute onset of fever greater
than 101 °F (or 38.3 °C), followed by a rash characterized by firm, deep seated vesicles or pustules in
the same stage of development without any other apparent

This teaching is part of the process of health teaching and health promotion, which can provide patients with the opportunity to identify needed healthcare promotion, disease prevention, and self management topics (ANA, 2015, p.65). Further research was conducted in order to select an appropriate intervention for each group. As part of the process of health teaching and health promotion, the registered nurse uses technologies to communicate health promotion and disease prevention information (ANA, 2015, p.65). In the article Please Like Me: Facebook and Public Health Communication , it is mentioned that public health organizations have recently recognized that they can utilize social media sites such as Facebook to engage their target population (Kite, Foley, Grunseit Freeman, 2016). Kite et al. further describe the benefits of using social media for health communication, which include the ability to make health information more available, sharable, and tailored; to provide peer, social, or emotional support; and to influence health policy (2016). Also, the public is often open to the idea of receiving health information through social media. Using social media sites as communication techniques has been shown to be effective in public health promotion of things like tobacco control, where they have been shown to influence attitudes, knowledge, and behavior change (Kite et al., 2016). • 3. Visual Search Case Studies 1.) Visual Search In this activity I participated in a classic psychological experiment that uses visual search tasks to explore fundamental process of visual perception and attention. In general I learned that selective attention filters enable us to make more automatic decisions about the stimuli around us, including which items to pay attention to during a visual search. Also, since your brain is always active and sees visual sights and sensory information, your mind copes by automatically screening or filtering incoming sensory information to let in only what is most important. Specifically, I learned that the first set of trials I did were the feature search part of the experience and the second set of trials were the conjunction search part of the experience. What I learned about my self after doing this activity is that I had a quick reaction time on the first set of trials as I was asked to find a blue circle amid orange squares and circles. But, on the second set of trials my reaction time was not as quick as it first was. On the second set of trials, I was asked to find the blue circle amid blue squares and orange circles. I believe my reaction time was quicker on the first set of trials due to the fact that I was just looking for the color blue among orange squares and circles, but on the second set of trials I was looking for a blue circle among blue squares and orange squares. Therefore, the blue squares were distractors from the blue circle and I was forced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Benefits Of Sleeping On A Problem Essay The Benefits of Sleeping on a Problem Introduction If you re like most people, you have probably been told, when you re struggling with a problem or decision, that it s a good idea to sleep on it. It s something that people say so frequently that it has become something of a cliché. Like most clichés, though, it turns out that there s some truth to it. In 1865, a German chemist named Friedrich August Kekule von Stradonitz solved a problem that had been puzzling scientists for decades. He published a paper identifying the structure of benzene as a ring of carbon atoms. Years later, when he was giving a talk about how he made his breakthrough discovery, he credited it to a dream he d had. In the dream, he saw an image of a serpent swallowing its own tail, something that is called ouroboros. The symbol dates back to early Indian, Egyptian and Greek mythology. The sight of the symbol revealed the ring like structure of benzene to him. Von Stradonitz is not alone. History is littered with similar examples. Human beings sometimes wake up with the solution to a complex problem, something they have been wrestling with, clear in their heads. Why does this happen? Is there scientific merit to the idea of sleeping on a problem? In this article, we will explore the notion that sleeping on a problem can help us solve it. It s a somewhat complex topic, but one worth investigating. The first key to understanding what happens in our brains while we sleep is to talk about why we need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Clause And Other Clauses Of The Constitution The vesting clause and other clauses of Article II of the Constitution vaguely define the powers and duties of the President, allowing the presidential power to be flexible enough to adapt to times of national emergency. Through the system of checks and balances, the president s immense powers are limited. In Article II of the Constitution, the vesting clause and other clauses account, but poorly describe, the powers, role in foreign policy, and duties of the president granting room for interpretation and adaptation to national emergencies. The first sentence of Article II states The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America (U.S. Constitution. Art. II). This designates the president the powers of the executive branch of government and the position as the head of the cabinet and executive departments. The president also has the Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States (U.S. Constitution. Art. II). With the exception of impeachment, the president has the power to grant postponement of punishment or release from penalty to any individual in the United States. In order to prevent government paralysis, the Framers administered to the president the Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate (U.S. Constitution. Art. II), with the ability to also nominate judges of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. In Article II of the Constitution, while describing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Describe The Causes And Effects Of Vitamin D 1.1 Vitamin D Vitamin D is responsible for regulating the passage of calcium (Ca 2+ ) to the bones. Therefore, if vitamin D is missing, this step does not occur and the bones begin to weaken and curl causing irreversible malformations: rickets. This disease especially affects children. Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of organs and systems through multiple functions, such as: the regulation of calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood, promoting the intestinal absorption of them from food and reabsorption of calcium at the renal level. With this it contributes to bone formation and mineralization, being essential for the development of the skeleton. However, in very high doses, it can lead to bone resorption. It also inhibits the secretions of parathyroid hormone (PTH) from the parathyroid gland and affects the immune system due to its immunosuppressive role, promotion of phagocytosis and antitumor activity. It is estimated that 1000 IU per day is the amount of vitamin D sufficient for a healthy adult individual, whether male or female. 1.2.1 Mechanism Vitamin D is a prohormone, so it has no hormonal activity by itself, but it is converted to the active hormone (calcitriol) through a highly regulated synthesis mechanism. The synthesis of cholesterol in the liver by means of Acetyl CoA is the first step, after several complex changes we reach an intermediate called 7 dehydrocholesterol. When the UV rays have contact with the skin, this 7 dehydrocholesterol has transformations producing vitamin D3. This vitamin D3 is not biologically active therefore must be subjected to two hydroxylations: the first in the liver forming 25 hydroxycholecalciferol (calcidiol) and the second in the kidney forming 1,25 dihydroxycholecalciferol also called calcitriol (active form). Vitamin D2 follows the same process (without the need for UV rays) to form 1,25 dihydroxiergocalciferol. 7 The production of vitamin D in nature, apparently requires the presence of UV rays, even vitamin E in edible food is ultimately derived from organisms; from mushrooms or fungi to animals, which cannot synthesize it except through the action of solar rays, at some point in the synthetic chain. For example, fish contain vitamin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, if we do not get enough sleep, it can lead to a common type of sleeping disorder called Insomnia. Insomnia is a disorder characterized by inability to sleep or a total lack of sleep (Saddiccha 1). The simplest definition is being unable to sleep or to stay asleep. Insomnia is derived from the Latin word insomnus which literally means no sleep. In 1818, Insomnia was named as the first psychosomatic disorder by the German Physicist named Johann Heinroth. Patients can actually choose what they think is best for them but it is better to take the doctor s advice. A fact that most people believe is that sleeping pills can actually cure insomnia. Sleeping pills can help a patient sleep but it cannot actually cure insomnia (Thrasybule, 1). Also, most doctors do not recommend on taking prescription sleeping pills for more than a few weeks but there other sleeping pills that are approved for long term use ( Insomnia, 1). Since many people are being affected by Insomnia there are several ways we can prevent and at the same time treat this particular disorder. The key is to change your daily routine, and you can do this by exercising regularly, avoiding caffeine, getting regular exposure to the late afternoon sun and practicing stress reduction techniques ( Insomnia, 1). Tobacco, as it relates to the early colonial period, was a fundamental cash crop for the southern colonies. It was first discovered by Europeans after Columbus s first return from the West Indies, and by the early 17th century, tobacco from the Spanish colonies was widely used throughout Europe. John Rolfe, a Jamestown planter, experimented and produced high quality tobacco which quickly spread throughout the Chesapeake Bay. As there was great demand for tobacco in Europe, planters grew tremendously wealthy and occasionally made the surrounding region prosperous. The economy of the southern colonies, particularly in the Chesapeake region, reflected the rise and fall of the demand for tobacco. (c). Even though tobacco was a crop, it helped shape the social structure of the southern colonies in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The wealthy planters, who wanted to expand their plantations required new cheap laborers. At first they used indentured servants, but after they realized that the indentured servants were creating a large source of potential social unrest, they moved towards using slaves. After the 1700s most tobacco plantations employed several dozen or more slaves. The slave work force had not only an economic effect but also a social effect. They formed a new social class, which made up the bottom of the social ladder, below the landless, unemployed white men who were previously the lowest class. The slave society also formed their own culture with their own language and kinship. The demand for tobacco, led to the demand of labor, which shaped the social structure of the southern colonies. 3. (a). In 1676, Nathaniel Bacon led a group on an unauthorized attack on the natives which became a military defiance of the colonial government. Pre rebellion there was a lot of political turmoil and unrest in the backcountry, which was in part because the new western landowners, including Bacon, strongly disagreed with the eastern tidewater leaders over many policies; mainly on ... However, I hold a different view because if I don t go for an early morning run, I feel tired and terrible for the whole day. It all began in high school, when i joined Cross country and track in my freshmen year. I really started to enjoy running and was quite good at it. During winter break, we didn t have practices and we were supposed to run on our own. Therefore, I used to make time to run in the evenings everyday during the break. One day on break, I was supposed to be busy the whole day and decided that I wouldn t find time to run, so I decided to wake up early and finish my run. This was one of the best decisions I had ever made, because It helped me developed a good habit that i follow till this day and helps me stay healthy. That morning getting up was hard but once I got out of the bed it was easy. I drank a glass of water and ate a banana. Since it was winter, I also put on my gloves and a warm hat. With my bright blue shoes laced up, i left my house and the experience I had is the reason I wake up early to run everyday. Right off the bat during my run, it felt strange. There were no sounds of cars! It was oddly quiet except for a few birds chirping here and there. It felt really peaceful. There was a mild fog that made the scene even more interesting. Of particular concern is the incorrect classification of Native Americans from the Northwestern Plains, which has been shown to occur 70% of the time when using this technique (Gill and Gilbert 1990). Hoping to address the shortcomings of the Giles and Elliot technique (1962) with regard to Native American populations, the interorbital features method was developed by Gill in 1984 with particular attention paid to accurately distinguishing between individuals of European and Native American descent. The interorbital features method utilizes a specialized coordinate caliper called a simometer (see Appendix I for image) and involves a set of six measurements taken from the midfacial skeleton, followed by computation of three indices: maxillofrontal, zygoorbital, and alpha. The three indices are calculated by dividing three breadth measurements into their corresponding subtense measurements, then multiplying by 100 (Gill et al. 1988). • 17. Defining Love In Sir Thomas Wyatt And Samuel Daniels Sir Thomas Wyatt and Samuel Daniels have sonnets in which the speaker is attempting to define love. With one speaker stating his daily life and the other expressing the feeling through paradoxes, both ultimately end up with poems that are not conventionally good love poems. I allege that the reason they cannot effectively define love is that they do not truly understand it because their own egos blind them from it. The scope of both sonnets is restricted to simply the speakers focus and they spend all fourteen lines saying things of little consequence. Rather than getting across the point that they are in love, they are showing their disillusionment in regards to what love is because they are so self centered and thus inadept at writing poetry. I aim to reveal that these sonnets reveal more about the speakers than about love through their choice of rhyme scheme, rhetorical devices, meter, and repetition. The speakers use different rhyme schemes. I find no peace is a Petrarchan sonnet and If this be love is a Shakespearean sonnet. While not actually flouting the conventional patterns, the speakers use diction that hardly allows the sonnets to be easily identified by their rhyme schemes. In the first and fourth lines of I find no peace, for example, the speaker seems to rhyme done with on (Wyatt ll. 1, 4). Instead of altering the word choice to better fit the Petrarchan rhyme scheme, the speaker writes in the only diction he can think of. Wyatt s speaker is so focused on himself and his paradoxical experience of love that he fails to create an effective sonnet. We see a similar disregard for the standard form by Daniel s speaker. The rhyme scheme of a Shakespearean sonnet is there, though not obviously with the speaker attempting to rhyme thoughts and notes in the last quatrain (Daniel ll. 9, 11). I believe the weakness in the overall rhyme scheme implies that the speaker is careless of tradition. This loose rhyming shows a lack of regard for the form the speaker is attempting to emulate, further emphasizing the possibility that his goal has not been to define love but to prove to others, and himself, that he is in love. Wyatt s speaker describes love primarily by using paradoxes. However, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The virtualized version of the LANs, virtual local area networks (VLANs), allows users to invest in only one switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). One advantage of VLANs is that network administrators can now sort devices by whatever criteria they require without physical location being an issue. Different VLANs can be set for different groups or departments within the same LAN. Performance is improved because, when the LAN is broken up into VLANs, it is not receiving broadcasts from all of the devices (certbros.com, 2015, para. 4). Cost is decreased because separate switches are not required for VLANs. A security benefit is provided because VLANs can be configured to accommodate the different security levels needed, and the administrator can choose whether or not to allow the VLANs to communicate with each other (certbros.com, 2015, para. 6). VRFs Virtualization is also used in the data center to acquire more routing instances without acquiring more hardware (Santana, 2014. P. 90). • 23. The, The Yellow Wallpaper, And Mississippi Native William... How does one distinguish the difference between reality and fantasy? Can our realities be so complex and unwanted that we are simply unable to grasp it? Coming to terms with actuality allows us to accept and find who we are. If we choose to neglect and become unaware with reality we may become delusional to the point of becoming insane. Feminist Charlotte Gilman s (1860 1935) The Yellow Wallpaper and Mississippi native William Faulkner s (1897 1962) A Rose for Emily both contain extreme delusional characters ( Charlotte Perkins Gilman , William Faulkner ). These characters lose touch with the real world and slowly begin to exhibit madness. Although both characters are unable to grasp reality, they both express distinct methods that show the severity and capability of their insanity. Gilman s and Faulkner s main characters, Emily and the other who is unnamed, both lose touch with reality. In both works, the characters portray this as they become isolated. For example, in A Rose for Emily , Emily s isolation began when her father died. Emily rarely went out and after her sweetheart went away, people hardly saw her at all. (226) The death of her father, as well as the death of her sweetheart , made Emily feel depressed, thus causing her to go into solidarity (226). • 24. Juvenal Essay Juvenal Juvenal was a Roman Satirist active in the late 1st and early 2nd century AD Biography: Born in Aquinum, Italy at around 55 60 CE and died around 127 or later. He is not really mentioned by anyone except Martial, who calls him eloquent and describes him as living a poor life kissing up to the rich. It is thought that his family was fairly well off, and that the first step he made towards a career was when he became an officer in the army in the administrative service of the emperor Domitian (81 96 CE) but was never promoted, which upset him. Upset, he wrote a satire about how court favorites had an unfair influence in the promotion system, and as a result of this writing he was given the boot and banished to Syene, a remote frontier town (now Aswan in Egypt). His property was also confiscated. After Domitian kicked the bucket in 96, Juvenal made his return to Rome. However without any money he had no choice to be a client on the charity of the rich. After a couple of years he was elderly, and living a more humble life in Rome possessing a farm at Tibur with livestock and servants. • 25. The Themes Of Violence In John Winslow s The Cartel As previously mentioned drug cartels are extremely known for their super violent image. Being a narco narrative itself, the storyline couldn t omit the theme of violence without discriminations between men, women and children. A typical scene of violence is that of a trained by the Zetas 11 year old Chicano kid, a sicario, who is on runaway after opening fire against a crowd and tossing five severed heads onto the white tiled dance floor. Winslow uses an unorthodox method at his story as parts of the novel are told from the perspective of a child member of La Familia, suffering from heavy psychic and physical traumas. Even tougher than the outright violence is the slow destruction of idealists either they belong to the braches of journalism or politics. For the first, special memorial reference is included in the book. Winslow is considered to depict the theme of raw violence so as to raise the audience s awareness of the real violence taking place in Mexico and the war on drugs. Therefore, it is rightfully said that The Cartel is a pure novelization of the Mexican American reality. • 30. Affective Context Effect Another prominent bias characterizing anxiety is in interpretation or processing of the uncertain and the unknown. We encounter ambiguous situations in our life daily, but what differs is our subjective interpretation and processing of that situation. Anxious individuals find themselves to be uneasy all the time, the main culprits being their thoughts and perceptions about themselves and the world, which are revealed by the way they process and resolve ambiguity. In an ambiguous situation, processing in anxiety could be mood congruent or context related (Richards, Holmes, Pell Bethell, 2013). Bower (1981) and Blanchette, Richards and Cross, (2007) have found evidence for mood congruent hypothesis whereas evidence to support a context effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, most studies investigating the context effect, presented the context concurrently with the stimuli (Richards, Blanchette Munjiza, 2007; Blanchette Richards 2003). Thus, the chances of it affecting the processing of information were not certain. A particular experimental paradigm used to study context effect is the adaptation paradigm, which ensures complete influence of the context. Adaptation can be defined as a change in response of the sensory system to a constant stimulus. The classic experiment of adaptation after effect was of color, where a red square gives a green perception after adapting to it for a few seconds (Clifford Rhodes, 2005). This adaptation after effect is also found with all the different identities and facial expressions (Fox Barton, 2007) but the magnitude of effect depends on congruence of identity (Pell Richards, 2013), duration (Rhodes, Jeffery, Clifford Leopold, 2007) and familiarity of the faces (Carbon et al., 2007). Adaptation effect is strongest when the adaptor is presented for a longer period of time, when the identity of the target and adaptor are congruent and when the face used is a familiar one. The fact that the strength of this effect is present across various dimensions like gender, expressions and identity, shows that adaptation is strategic and occurs at a higher level of visual and perceptual processing (Watson Clifford, 2003). One of the explanations for the adaptation phenomenon is response suppression which refers to the reduced firing rate of the neurons in response to repeated stimuli (Desimone., 1996; Huber O Reilly 2003).
