The Impact Of Electronic Commerce On The Development Of...
I. ABSTRACT
With respect to the fast growing use of technology and communicative devices, electronic commerce
and digital markets has steadily impacted the expansion of information systems, organizations, and
society, on a global scale. The discussion of cultural differences as it relates to electronic commerce
was identified while analyzing primary factors that markets should take into account. The
characteristics and trends of each country examine the utilization of the Internet and electronic
commerce. With attempts to compare the United States and other countries, it is revealed that
electronic commerce goes beyond files residing on a server, it involves the entirety of infrastructure
necessary for transactions, customer services, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Electronic commerce is global in nature and the international markets, which represent immense
potential on expanding businesses, neglecting cultural differences.
III. LITERATURE REVIEW:
Electronic Commerce
Electronic commerce (or e commerce) consists of the repurchasing of different services and products,
utilized by the internet. This includes business to business (B2B), business to consumer (B2C), and
consumer to consumer(C2C) transactions. These transferable activities include, but are not limited to,
online retail sales, online bill paying, supplier purchases, and Web based auctions. Electronic
commerce implements and utilizes several different types of technologies including transactions of
funds, electronic data interchange, credit cards, and e mail (Reference for Business, Encyclopedia of
Management, 2008). The term e commerce is often used interchangeably with Electronic business (e
business). E business refers to the use of digital technology and the Internet to execute the major
business processes in the enterprise. E business includes activities for the internal management of the
firm and for coordination with suppliers and other business partners (Laudon, K., 12th ed., p. 55). E
commerce facilitates the growth of online business. It is categorized as follows; Online marketing,
online advertising, online sales, product delivery, product

such that 8|w* and 8|h* are as follows in (1) and (2): Hence, w* x h* forms the new dimensions. The
problem of determining the waiting probability of observing a particular number of blocks and the

Table I displays six solid binary images along with their corresponding compression ratios. On
considering Run Length coding, the alternative encoding scheme produces better performance than the
other encoding scheme. On an average, the proposed algorithm performs well on comparison with the
standard Huffman coding algorithm by approximately 1.58%. Table II shows the percentage of blocks
compressed by the codebook dictionary and the percentage of blocks compressed by RCRC for the
corresponding images In accession to the binary images, the proposed method may be tested on
discrete color images also. These type of images consists of four semantic layers, such as, roads,

The War Against Boys By Christina Sommers
The Fight is on The alarm clock rang three consecutive times, as the young man remained in bed,
paying no attention to the alarm, and continued to lie asleep. His first class already starting, he decides
not to attend, but instead dozes off wasting the day. This was just another typical day for my father
back then. As a teen my dad always skipped out on classes whenever he got the chance to. He was the
type to always fool around, and never took school seriously. At the age of 12 he basically raised
himself, ever since his parents gave him up for adoption. Always moving from family to family, and
having to interchange schools several times, he grew tired and became irritable to the point where he
no longer had interest for an education.
With no one supporting him, he found it useless to pursue in his studies and spent most of time
rebelling. Based on my father s educational experiences, somehow I found it relatable to the boys in
Christina Sommers article The war against boys . Just like in my father story, they could ve been
facing the same scenario, which led them to plummet in their grades. According to Sommer s, article
some feminists believe that girls are still at a disadvantage, when compared to boys. They argue that
boys still uphold the position at the top. In reality, most of the girls have already surpassed that point
and are exceling quickly. If they continue this, most girls have a higher probability in outpacing boys
in academics; however there is still a

Peace-Weavers In Beowulf
TITLE
Freothuwebbe (frƭƞwebbe) is an Anglo Saxon word that translates as a peace weaver, woman
(Bosworth 336). Peace weavers are trafficked, in a sense, as they are women who symbolize a gift
transaction, an exchange between nations that is meant to forge unions and prevent hostilities. In the
best of situations these women became diplomats of sorts, active participants in marital arrangements
and advisors to their husbands, performing in political negotiations. On the other hand, peace weavers
can be construed as literal objects of male exchange in a society that valued warfare. Critical
interpretations of the role of peace weaver involve the sentiment that many women ultimately failed at
their task of bringing peace to the two nations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some ways her role as an aristocrat and gracious hostess seems to connote a sense that her figure is
purely decorative. Surrounded by masculine language and actions, her feminine elegance certainly
stands out. In her critical study of women in Old English literature, Helen Damico (who bases her
studies primarily on similarities between Icelandic and Anglo Saxon portrayals of women) highlights
her belief that Wealtheow embodies an Anglo Saxon femininity that brings a sense of aristocratic
beauty to a place otherwise lacking it. Yet she goes on to speculate that Wealtheow is not merely a
helpless character rather, she highlights the fact that what may seem a merely decorative aspect of the
peace weaver is imbued with a sense of foreboding, of the threat of violence that underlays even the
most innocuous seeming celebration. In her foundational study Language, Sign and Gender in
Beowulf, Gillian Overing focuses on female signification into Anglo Saxon culture. She states that
since Anglo Saxon culture is war and death oriented, women are not a natural fixture of the heroic
system thus, none of the peace weavers in Beowulf are successful at the task. She asserts that the
women who function as peace weavers are either silent, are not given acknowledgement for their
work, or disappear

Youth 201 Section #B01
What I Have Learned? (at least two full pages)
During this second observation at Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, I learned
many things. I went to this location on a Saturday night, where it was full of young people. The
weather outside was warm, but rainy, so I believe this caused even more people to look for indoor fun,
so the mall was packed on this Saturday night.
I began my observation in the food court, which is near the movie theatre. This is definitely a hot spot
in the mall for young people. I got something to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another thing I noticed about the young people at the mall that night was the language they used! I
was completely appalled at the way these young people were speaking. As the young people moved
about around me, I couldn t believe some of the words that were coming out of their mouths. I realize
that these are young people and they are still trying to figure themselves out and fit in, but I honestly
did not realize that young people spoke this way. It was very difficult for me not to speak up at that
point and ask them to please not use that type of language. This made me realize the negativity that
must be going on in their minds and hearts. This really opened my eyes to the actions of young people
that I wasn t aware of.
Seeing the way these young people were acting, dressing, and speaking made me realize, to an even
greater degree, how important youth ministry is. These young people broke my heart that night as I
realized how lost they must be. Many of them probably didn t grow up in loving homes. Many of them
may not even have homes to go to when they left the mall that night. What is truly heartbreaking is
that many of them may have never had anyone share the Gospel with them. Their actions that night
are only a result of the environment they ve grown up in. I tried to imagine the home life some of
them came from. As I attempted to look deeper, I wondered which

The Five Major Developmental Theories
Chapter six and seven had a lot of useful information for the field I am working to pursue. The
chapters touched on many different areas that all connected. From learning about the five major
developmental theories teachers use to foster creative thought to learning about assessments. Which I
did not even think about connecting assessments to creative arts. With that being said I think the two
most important parts of chapter six and seven were learning about the five major developmental
theories and how children learn through assessment in chapter seven. The reason I thought the five
major developmental theories were important was, because I always want to apply theories to my
learnings. It helps me remember who did what and how to apply their

EEG s help with a lot of symptoms. They are used to help in the diagnosis of epilepsy and variation of
neurological symptoms. People with head trauma or severe disease are evaluated with EEG s. EEG
monitoring is done during surgeries in the neck or around heart. This helps offer more information
about brain function. EEG s normally take about 90 minutes. Another procedure is PSG, which stands
for Polysomnograms. This is a recording during sleep that uses physiologic monitors to evaluate sleep,
and sleep disorders. It monitors load snoring, struggle to stay awake during the day, falling asleep at
unsuitable times, and insomnia. Physician s use Polysomnograms to recognize dysfunction in wake

Protest For The National Anthem Of The United States
Emily Petrochuk Professor Psenicka English 102 31 October 2016 Protests to the National Anthem of
the United States A famous sports figure in history once said, I cannot stand and sing the anthem. I
cannot salute the flag. I know that I am a black man in a white world (McKirdy). At first glance, this
quote seems to be something that would have been said by the San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Colin
Kaepernick, in light of his recent protests, as well as other sports players who decided to follow suit,
to the playing of the national anthem before football games. However, this is not the case. The above
quote was written in the 1972 autobiography, I Never Had it Made, written by Jackie Robinson, an
African American Baseball player (McKirdy). Colin Kaepernick obviously felt the same as Jackie
Robinson did when he sat on the bench rather than standing during a rendition of the national anthem
before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 26. During an interview with the
media following the game, Kaepernick explained why he refused to stand for the anthem, I am not
going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.
To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are
bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder (Wyche). Kaepernick

1. Compare Pandora s original business model with its current business model. What s the difference
between free and freemium revenue models?
Pandora originally started with a subcription type of business model wherein users must pay $36 per
month after they have used up their 10 hours of free access. The original model used was the free trial
type. What happened was after the free trial of 10 hours was used up, the customers were unwilling to
pay for the subscription fee. Now, the new and current model being used by Pandora is the freemium
business model. The new model offered users longer time limit in using their features, which could be

3. Why did MailChimp ultimately succeed with a freemium model but Ning did not?
MailChimp succeeded with its freemium model because it started with offering free basic tools for the
users and gave them the option to upgrade their account for a subscription fee in order to access the
special features that MailChimp provides. As the user s email list grew, people now are more likely to
subscribe to MailChimp in order to access the special features which offered the ability to send more
emails to more people and the ability to use the feature that provides sophisticated analytics to help the
users to target their market more efficiently and effectively.
Ning did not succeed with the freemium model because a number of the users did not need the special
features offered by the company. Ning is a company that enables its users to create their own social
networks. The problem is that not everyone needs to start their own social networking sites.
4. What s the most important consideration when considering a freemium revenue model?
The large potential audience is the most important consideration when considering a freemium
revenue model. In order for a business to grow, it should attract as many people as possible. These
users will later on be the ones that will pay for the services the business offers. In order to attract
customers, the service that the business

Japanese Internment Essay
Tension emerged between the United States and Japan. On December 7, 1941, Japanese fighter planes
attacked the United States naval base located in Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii. The United States
was completely blindsided. Pearl Harbor was their least suspected place for an attack to take place, so
their naval base was very weak, making it an irresistible target for Japan. Over 2,000 United States
sailors and soldiers died, and 1,000 were wounded. American ships and airplanes were destroyed. The
United States took action against Japan and joined World War II. There was a great population of
Japanese Americans on the West Coast of the United States, which caused ongoing fear and suspicion.
President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These internment camps were not execution camps. Although these camps held Japanese Americans
against their will, they did not pose dangers that would affect the well being of the citizens.
Additionally, thousands of American citizens are engaged in warfare in the military. Being part of the
military is far worse than being evacuated to an internment camp. According to a statement made by
Representative Leland Ford in 1942, [...] if an American born Japanese, who is a citizen, is really
patriotic [...] he should be willing to do it if he is patriotic [...] As against his sacrifice, millions of
other native born citizens are willing to lay down their lives, which is a far greater sacrifice, of course,
than being placed in a concentration camp (Document A). As citizens of the United States, it is the
Japanese American s patriotic duty to make sacrifices for the country s safety, which are not dreadful
in comparison to the sacrifices other citizens make for the country. Many Americans imperil their lives
by serving in the military forces. Japanese Americans are solely being relocated for defense purposes.
The Secretary of War, who President Roosevelt gave power to, must provide the proper necessities for
those who were being relocated into the internment camps, the Japanese Americans. These resources
included food and shelter, fundamentals to survive. The United States did not have the intention

The Technological Advancements Of World War II
William Pollard once said, Learning and innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success is to
think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient tomorrow. Maybe the generals of World War 1
(WW1) should have been told this when they used cavalry when they were outdated and rifles and
machine guns were the weapons of this war. They found this out the hard way which sparked the time
of technological innovations and changes that was WW1. The three technological innovations I will
write about are machine guns, planes and tanks.
On the one hand, machine guns could be said to be significant because of the extra fire power they
provided on a battlefield. It has been estimated that a machine gun creates the equivalent to anywhere
between 60 to 100 rifles, depending on the source, in one weapon. This gave an army defending a
position a huge advantage over the attacking side and almost certainly prolonged the stalemate as
breaking enemy lines became so difficult as reaching the enemy trench was a near impossible thing to
do with the machine gun firing at the advancing infantry. It has been estimated that around 20% of the
casualties of world war 1 were caused by the machine gun. This figure is very high considering all the
possible causes of death in the battlefields of WW1. What also made the machine gun of WW1
significant was how it affected the future. These early models were the basis of a weapon used in all
areas of the world ever since these first guns were used in WW1.

The Victorian Era Exposed In Dracula By Bram Stoker
The Victorian Era is regarded as very impactful time in terms of literature. It incorporated the
elements of Gothic principles such as isolation, fascination of the past, and decay. All of the listed
characteristics appear in the infamous novel Dracula and play a significant role in how the book is
transcribed. But perhaps the most significant attribute would be the concept of othering or
foreigners. In Bram Stoker s Dracula, Stoker provides a thorough perspective in to the British fear of
the other. He utilizes the main character, Dracula, to convey how society portrays foreigners or
immigrants as aggressors. Dracula highlights the British fear of the other and all that is foreign. He
comes from somewhere other than England, Transylvania, to symbolize his exclusion from society
and to represent his status as an immigrant. Dracula also does not have anything in common with the
Transylvanian citizens. They also express a great deal of superstition about Dracula when Jonathan
Harker arrives. When I asked him if he knew Count Dracula, and could tell me anything of his castle,
both he and his wife crossed themselves, and, saying that they knew nothing at all, simply refused to
speak further (Stoker 7). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler s Leadership Some people are good, even great leaders, but horrible people. Adolf Hitler
was a great representation of this, he had lead Germany out of the worst depression ever. Later on he
would take a democratic government out of office. He would even take over all of Europe and he was
not even from Germany. He took a pathetic group in the Nazis/German Workers Party, and made them
into a powerhouse a force to be reckoned with. But then he had killed millions of innocent people
based on their appearance their religion which was horrible he even killed himself, not only did he kill
millions of people he would also kill his family members when they wouldn t help him with his
problems. Adolf Hitler was born in 1889 in a country called Austria near Germany, his father died
when he was 13 of a stroke as he said in his book Mein Kampf. He applied for an art school 2 times
getting rejected both of them. After he got the second time he was running out of options so he went to
be in the army nearly everyone died making him a corporal in the mists of the very first World War.
He would later after the as most people know become the leader of the Nazi party and a dictator of
Germany. His political views were much like modern day politics. He would use lots of propaganda
and blame the Jews, Communists, Weimar Republic and much more. At the time the world was in a
recession also better known as The Great Depression. His reason for these political views are
impossible to say for sure but one of the suspected reasons was the art school he applied to 2 times
was a mainly Jewish school. Also when he lived in Vienna about 9% of the 2 million people that lived
there were Jewish and the were still very Antisemitism. The Nazi party was formed by a man named
Anton Drexler. It was founded in February 24 1920. They were also known as the German workers
party. Adolf Hitler would not become leader until 1921 although being part of the party since it was
first started. They practiced Nazism which was like Nazis were the best much like nationalism except
instead of believing in their country being the best they believed Nazis were the best. This is why they
killed some 5.5 to 6 million people of the Jewish race. The

Jamaica s representation as our host country is due in part to its yearning desire to attract more foreign

relieving its trade barriers for U.S. products. Some tax incentives include the Tax Relief Act which

Another critic also said that although Leonardo worked on the Mona Lisa over a number of years in a
number of different cities, none of his business or household records contain any mention of a model
who might have sat for the portrait.
In an article in the January issue of Arts and Antiques, Schwartz describes how her conclusions tie
together a number of seemingly unrelated anomalies in the painting, its shadowy quality, the unusual
dress, the lack of jewelry, the awkward pose and the split pair of unrelated landscapes on either side of
the figure.
She points out that Leonardo s delight in riddles caused him to plant clues in all his paintings and that
the Mona Lisa was no exception.
When these clues are taken together with da Vinci s known homosexuality and life style, a picture
emerges of the great painter creating a disguised self portrait in women s clothes.
As Schwartz puts it, That famous smile, so tantalizing for so many centuries is the mirrored smile of
da Vinci himself.

Examples Of Allusions In Secret Life Of Bees
Biblical Allusion 1 The Virgin Mary An allusion is a literary device to express a reference to another
piece of media. Allusions are used frequently in A Secret life of Bees to influence the characters
personality traits and underlying story themes. In the novel, Sue Mon Kidd uses constant allusions to
the Virgin Mary. She writes using Lily s voice, Looking back on it now, I want to say the bees were

events in motion I could never have guessed. Page 2. This is an example of a biblical allusion. The

Jane Austen s Sense And Sensibility
Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility is often read as two sisters who represent either sense or
sensibility. In Ang Lee s cinematic adaptation of the book, there is obvious preference to the value of
emotions, of the heart, and this approach lends an interpretation of what is otherwise left unanswered
in the book. From the onset of Sense and Sensibility, Elinor is characterized by her coolness of
judgment and her overall ability to use her sense to the benefit of the Dashwoods. (44) Marianne on
the other hand is characterized by her sensibility for her sorrows, her joys ,could have no moderation.
(44) In many ways the movie attempts to bring what is on the inside to the outside. The movie does
make a preference towards the heart has a significant effect on the cinematic depictions of the sisters
but also of other characters. The preference of the heart allows for deeper constructs of the characters
Margaret and Colonel Brandon. The cinematic approach also allows for concrete demonstrations of
Marriane s growing affection to Colonel Brandon as well as a concrete show of Elinor s interior
emotions. The film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility lends itself to bringing interpretation and even
life to some characters. This is true especially in the case of Margaret Dashwood, who is a comedic
relief to the otherwise dramatic film, and who most importantly brings to light the kindness of Edward
Ferrars. In the novel, like many of the younger siblings in Austen s books,

The idea originated in a conversation at a holiday party in 2010. A year later, founder Mike Dubin
launched Dollar Shave Club, abbreviated DSC.
In 2012 the company gained attention through a series of funny, off beat Youtube ads that went viral.
The ads were so successful that they gained 12,000 subscribers in only two days, and by the end of
2012, DSC had made over $4 million. Their growth continued to be exponential. In 2013 they made
$19 million, then reached $64 million in 2014.
Were a few humorous ads enough to grow a company to a billion dollar value? The ads gained a lot of
attention, but the success of the company was also due to several other factors. Read on to gain some
insights about how dollar shave club achieved a billion dollar valuation in less than 6 years.
The company addressed an annoying problem
For years razor blade buyers have been subject to an irritating shopping experience. Mainstream
brands like Gillette charge little or nothing for razor handles, then overcharge for the blades, to the

Red Giants Research Paper

Red Giants
Red giants are dying stars that are in their last part of stellar evolution. Every star will eventually turn
into a red giant over some point in time. Stars turn into red giants when there is no more hydrogen fuel
for the star. Inside of a star, hydrogen goes through a process called nuclear fusion where hydrogen is
getting converted into helium. Nuclear fusion helps create energy for the star so that the force of
gravity isn t crushing the star together. This is also the reason why stars are bright. When the star runs
out of hydrogen to convert into helium, the energy that kept the star from collapsing is now gone.
Gravity then takes over and compresses the star. From this point, the helium atoms are able to
combine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are very luminous stars that have a relatively cool surface temperature compared to the stars in
the main sequence that have about the same luminosity. Red giants typically have low to intermediate
mass than a regular star, even though they are about 1000 times larger in the red giant phase of stellar
evolution. Red supergiants are known as the biggest stars by radius. The biggest red supergiant is
mentioned as VY Canis Majoris. This star is about 1800 times bigger than our sun. Although there are
plenty of red giants in space, none of them are that close to us. The closest red giant is Gamma Crucis
(88 light years away).3
We do not have to worry about the world ending due to the sun becoming a red giant anytime in our
lifetime, but plenty of them are out there. Red giants are a very interesting part in stellar evolution as
we have gained lots of knowledge about them over history. Our knowledge of these stars helps us
understand stars and their stellar evolution that much more.

An Intelligence Officer For The Australian Army
As an Intelligence Officer for the Australian Army, the main role is to provide the intelligence support
required by commanders and staff at all levels. The role requires the highest calibre of noetic
suppleness and flexibility and the facility to operate at the tactical, operational and strategic levels and
to integrate with joint, inter agency, inter governmental and multi national agencies. This environment
will additionally demand culturally astute and situationally vigilant officers, comfortable in dealing
with capricious circumstances in an asymmetric battlespace (Defence, 2016). As an Intelligence
Officer for the Army, virtually all forms of communication are utilised. This includes logical fallacies,
mediated communication, mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the fact that an Intelligence Officer must compose and distribute reports and briefings to
military units and other military leaders, effectively lead the soldiers they may have under their
command and finally, they have to be able to interrogate people captured by military combat units.
When presenting briefings and reports, the officer, as the sender, must be able to articulate,
ascertaining the receiver understands the message even if there are other environmental conditions
mitigating his ability to hear. Doing this will ensure that whenever those who attended the briefing are
deployed or go to make plans they will be able to have the best information ensuring that the objective
can be accomplished. Another reason that interpersonal communication is so important for an
Intelligence Officer is that without being effective at interpersonal communication they will not be
able to effectively lead soldiers in their platoon (Hawkins, 1985). Communication in the army goes far
beyond that of simply exchanging information. Commanders use communication to strengthen bonds
within a command. Communication builds trust, cooperation, cohesion, and shared understanding
(Ford, 2015). As an intelligence officer, the soldiers that you lead are more than likely intelligence
analysts themselves. This means that communicating with them about work related issues is most
likely to be easy as they will be to

Thomas Paine Beliefs
Thomas Paine was a man of many opinions; I mean my goodness the man named this Common Sense
. He did not share in the cookie cutter lifestyle most have, which allowed him to share experiences that
privileged said knowledge and opinions. He had an eager rage towards the subject of religion and
government. Paine s thought was to separate church and state. He wanted to protect religion and its
freedom but felt that the government should not delegate its feelings toward the subject matter.
Thomas Paine did not travel to the United States until the age of thirty seven. He knew how England
worked. The English parliament ruled towards a set national religion. He felt that if the government
plugged in its two sense then the same could happen and the people would be obscured at losing one
of their rights. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thomas Paine came in with the point of view that we should silence the government and let everyone

and that is all the government is too control. The government is just in charge of liberty, property and

consist in doing justice, loving mercy and endeavoring to make our fellow creatures happy. But, lest it
should be supposed that I believe many other things in addition to these... (653 654) Paine was not a

Barbie, The Soulless Blonde Bombshell That Brainwashes Children
Barbie is the controversial toy every big news outlet loves to poke and prod about. Barbie was created
in 1959 after Ruth Handler observed her daughter, Barbara, playing with paper dolls. Ruth
immediately recognized that experimenting with the future from a safe distance through pretend play
was an important part of growing up. Even though some may be intimidated by Barbie s seemingly
perfect, tanned, thin body, Barbie is only a doll; In the end, she is just a hunk of plastic.
Other body types are represented in the media, as well as a wide selection of other dolls to choose
from; Lammily dolls, Fulla dolls, and many other alternatives to Barbie. When your four year old

Barbie s got a bad reputation. All that is really focused on is her looks. This defeats the purpose of the

Achieving Project Goals Simulation
How completing the simulation change my perspective of project management
The completion of the stimulation has a critical impact on how I view the general outlook of project
management in the society. Project management is a multifaceted activity that desires and requires
diverse knowledge and skills from the concerned people. The simulation project had many
considerations that took after manipulation of the natural skills and materials into meeting the elephant
project. The directives that were of immense importance came from the knowledge and skills gained
from the course materials and comparative approaches involved throughout the study period
(Choudhury, 1988).
After completing the project, I learnt immense skills and knowledge as regards going beyond extremes
of time and activity in order to meet the objected and non objected calls of the project. The project on
elephants had to be covered within the initial scope that was set during the creation of the project. In
order to fulfill the needs and specifications of the project, the workers had to increase more of their
attention, concentration, and determination. I perceive a project as a tedious and cheap avenue that can
be accomplished if equitable plans have been set before its initialization.
After completing the project, I developed innate skills and knowledge as regards management of

Stress is a common theme in my life. I have to admit that, for me, personally, it has become a chronic
condition. Recently, I have finally made the step of realizing that stress is the evil dictator ruling a
vicious cycle. A revolution is necessary:
Stress is something we have all experienced at some point in our lives. From a biological perspective,
stress is a phenomenon that occurs when we experience circumstances that disturb our physical and
mental equilibrium. These circumstances, which are referred to as stressors, include heavy workloads,
relationship problems, illnesses or upcoming, life changing events such as weddings, divorces or
childbirth. Stress is naturally occurring and can even be helpful in certain situations such as being
under pressure to finish an essay, but if stress is not relieved it becomes chronic. Chronic stress can
have negative effects on our physical and psychological condition, relationships, work or school
situation and other aspects of our social life.

Analysis Of Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn, A Russian Author With...
Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn, a Russian author with personal experience of labor camp conditions, relates
the experiences of his fellow prisoners by showing the world that humanity can be maintained in the
most degrading of places. Such a theme can be observed closely in his novel One Day in the Life of
Ivan Denisovich, first published in 1962. As the title suggests, the novel is about a day in the Gulag
(prison) from dawn to dusk from Ivan s perspective. The Gulag is designed to strip the Zeks of their
individual identities and dignity. The zek s names are taken from them and replaced by numbers: S
854, The Tartar read from the white stripe that had been stitched to the back of his black jacket, (15).
Then their personal belongings are taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the stance taken by Solzhenitsyn, Ivan maintains his dignity by resisting the idea of indulging
himself with food. In the novel the author raises an important question about whether food is a
necessity or valuable to humanity (dignity). When Ivan recalls a prisoner who talked about the types
of Zeks who manage to live: Those who lick other men s leftovers, those who count on the doctors to
pull them through, and those who squeal on their buddies, (8), he says, do not survive. Though Ivan
knows that the prisoners do survive at the cost of their own humanity, he respects and agrees with
most of Kuziomin s statement: You re sure to be given something to eat there, though there were
plenty of others at that game, more than plenty and, what s worse, if you found a bowl with something
left in it you could hardly resist licking it out, (7). For Ivan, avoiding the mess hall in the morning or
after the meal was important, as he might be tempted into leaving his dignity for a little amount of
food. This is a significant step towards conserving his morality and surviving his sentence. In
Solzhenitsyn perspective, keeping away from the food represents the idea of control over one s body.
This is highly significant because living in the Gulag, where the authority treats zeks in the most
dehumanizing of ways, one needs to be able to command themselves, controls their desires to stay
intact their dignity.

The Slave Trade in Colonial Charleston, South Carolina
The ways and reasons in which the slave trade in colonial Charleston, South Carolina was so relevant
are surprisingly interesting. The slave trade was important economically and capitalistically speaking:
the economy highly depended on the slave trade and was literally dominated by it in some states.
Besides the economy, other reasons of its importance were implied in politics and business: what
made it really big in Charleston and in South Carolina in general was that slaves ended constituting
the majority which means that slavery was focussed much more in this state than in any other one.

comfortable with, which of course advantaged firms with a higher amount of sales. I will refer to
Benjamin Smith, the senior partner in the large slave trading firm of Smith, Brewton Smith, who had a
great influence on the planters and a considerable knowledge and talent in the way he carried out his
business: the fact that several head South Carolina planters lived in Charleston meant that they easily
had great access to merchants, goods and slaves, and that they were also in a good position to take
advantage of credit provided by Charleston merchants in the local mortgage market. Basically,
Charleston had the advantage of being the commercial center of the state and could then bring to it
several wealthy customers, even from different states (Morgan, 1998). In fact, their allies in North
Carolina and in Georgia were great clients for these South Carolinians of Charleston even though
every state was in completion with the other, none ever reached the size to be in real competition with
Charleston. Another way to show how Charleston was the center of it all is that only eight per cent of
its slave importations in the colonial period were moved elsewhere because they mostly stayed in
Charleston (Morgan, 1998). Before ships can enter Charleston,

The atheism is accounted for its historic existence of fundamentalist religion in Australia. Australians
perceived to be peculiar in responding to religion which neither gives comfort to believer nor to

Archbishop of Sydney, and Bruce Wilson claimed at the same time that Australia was a pagan nation

The Church Is Apostolic In The Film A Man For All Seasons
he Church is Apostolic In the film a man For All Seasons I think that the most visible mark of the

Man for All Seasons is The Church is Apostolic. In the film we see that the faith of Thomas is tested
countless times. For example in the movie his faith is tested when King Henry VII wants to be
devoiced to his wife because she cannot have a son, but the pope says no. the king turns to Thomas,
but Thomas keeps his faith and follows what the pope says. The Mark of The Church is Apostolic is
demonstrated by King Henry and Cromwell opposing it as well as Thomas defending it. This shows
the Church is Apostolic due to the fact that the Pope is the head of the Church, and that s the way
Jesus made it. The Church is also Apostolic because the foundation of the Church was founded on the

The Rise Of The Roman Empire Essay
Constantine was the first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity. He started his reign in 307 AD.
During this time the Roman Empire was still composed mainly of pagans. Although the population of
Christians was on the rise, in the beginning of the fourth century, Christians made up only 10 percent
of the population in the Roman Empire. There were approximately five million Christians in the
Roman Empire meaning that they were still the minority (Waldron). His conversion was an important
turning point not only for Christians but also for the Roman Empire as a whole. Although most
Romans still believed in Greco Roman religions, Constantine decided to become a Christian because
he knew that it would be beneficial for his role as emperor. His conversion was prompted by his desire
to end the tetrarchy structure of the Roman Empire and to become the sole ruler of the Roman Empire.
The story of Constantine s conversion was told through Eusebius of Caersera. His recount of the story
is skewed by his bias. In order to show a more holistic view of the story I will be comparing his
account to the account of another historian named Andreas AlfoĢˆldi. The comparison will show that
Constantine had other motives for converting to Christianity. Constantine s decision to become a
Christian was influenced by numerous external factors. He emulated the monotheistic nature of
Christianity and used it as the foundation of his reign and used Christianity to advance his political
agenda. When

oppressed the black people. History is present in everyone, from when you are young to adults

Throughout history white men oppressed the black men in to becoming slaves and not giving them

strategy and the primary source of proļ¬tability coalesced into what has become known as the resource
based view of the ļ¬rm.1 To understand why the resource based view has had a major impact on
strategy thinking, let us go back to the starting point for strategy formulation: typically some statement
of the ļ¬rm s identity and purpose (often expressed in a mission statement). Conventionally, ļ¬rms have
answered the question what is our business? in terms of the market they serve: who are our customers?
and which of their needs are we seeking to serve? However, in a world where customer preferences
are volatile and the identity of customers and the technologies for serving them are changing, a market
focused strategy may not provide the stability and constancy of direction needed to guide strategy over
the long term.2 When the external environment is in a

Importance Of Disconnection In Workplace Communication
Upon your request, I have researched communication in the workplace for the organization and its
upcoming projects. The knowledge gathered and discussed in this document could possibly be applied
to our organization and the new project. This document will outline disconnection in workplace
communication, leadership styles in a workplace, huddles and debriefings, emails and Instant message
in a workplace, and motivation of employees.
Many employees see themselves as disconnected from workplace communication. In a recent report
done by Gallup, a research and performance management consulting company, 74 percent of
employees feel they are detached from receiving important information from their companies
(Dynamic Signal, 2017). The study also found that employees were not using their intranet within the
company, but the vast majority of employees do own and use their smartphones regularly.
Communication budgets are also stagnating and this might be due to an absence of understanding the
importance of superior internal communication in boosting productivity and profits. Many businesses
are unaware that poor internal communication and lack of information for employees is costing them
money.
Email is prevalent form of technological communication, but instant messaging and texting is a
growing form of communication in many workplaces. The amount of people who use instant
messaging at work went up from 31 percent in 2014 to 41 percent in 2017 (Herzlich, 2017). There is
also a

Gender Reflection Paper
Gender As a child, I never saw being a female as a detriment and yet now I realize that it was such an
obsticle. However that apparent detriment has not shaped my identity, but rather my triumphs over
what people perceived that I could or could not do has molded me to be the person I am today. I was
encouraged by both parents to do whatever I wanted, and yet I recognize how my own father treated
me differently because I was a girl. There were many things that I was never taught how to do because
they were not tasks for females in his mind. Things such as using a lawn mower, a weed whacker, and
even working with some power tools were skills that I was never given the opportunity to learn. On
top of this, he has stated that it drives him crazy that I walk around bare footed when I garden and do
not wear gloves and end up with dirt under my nails. I have been told that I should act more like a lady
. Looking back I now believe that there were certain stereotypes that he applied to me and that I was
expected to fulfill. There were also things that he would not teach me because they weren t lady like .
This could be due to the fact that Males receive an incomplete education because they (not to mention
their female peers0 learn little about women their schooling. (Nieto p. 49) If women are never
presented in curriculum in a positive and contributing light, then it truly becomes a man s world filled
with their own one sided notions. I have experienced being in

The Death Of Darkness By The Sun Went Down
As I am sure it was in the civilian law enforcement world, once the sun went down, things got
interesting on base. The cover of darkness invited trouble; as was the case when you were securing a
base with a 27 mile perimeter with only about seven miles of fence line intact. However, when a full
moon illuminated that dark sky, those nights were busier, crazier, and more dangerous than nights
when the moon was dim. I had heard the myths and folklore that associated the full moon with
mystical powers that had the ability to induce erratic behaviors including, suicides, homicides,
emergency room calls, traffic accidents and fights. Hell, I had seen multiple Hollywood horror flicks
that portrayed the full moon nights as peak times of spooky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As we got closer, the women waved and motioned for us to come over. Keith stopped the vehicle, and
ordered me to go see if something was wrong. I grabbed my M 16, exited the vehicle, and walked over
to assess the situation. After all, if help was needed, we didn t want to desert them.
Hello ma am, I m Airman Bowers from the 3rd SPS. Is there anything we can do for you? Is
everything okay?
Yes, everything is okay. We just wanted to say hi and offer you guys something to eat if you are
hungry.
Intrigued by the offer, I said, Stand by let me go ask my Sgt.
I headed back to inform Keith that the ladies were very friendly and wanted to know if we were
hungry. Keith smiled and replied, Shit man, let s go get some grub.
We returned to the lawn, welcomed by friendly, flirty smiles. Keith asked, Do you have and iced tea or
soda?
The ladies giggled and said, No but we have rum if you want.
With disappointment in his eyes, Keith told them, We are on duty and alcohol is not allowed.
The ladies broke out in roaring laughter, as they asked our names. They introduced themselves and we
learned they were from Thailand. Their English was poor at best and based on their ages, they met
their husbands during the Vietnam War. One of the ladies said her name was Kat. Being a smartass kid
I responded with, Cat like the animal or Kat like the candy bar?
They all laughed and she said, Candy bar.

Personal Narrative-Wrestling
Football season just ended, meaning I had a couple weeks to recoup until my favorite season started
wrestling. Wrestling has run in the family for decades, each generation breaking a record or making it
to state. With the few weeks to recoup, I picked up some extra hours at work. I clean at the local
YMCA, so I don t have much interaction with kids or anyone really, but I like it that way.
My friend who works the front desk, Jimmie, greets me as I walk in, Hey Porter.
Hey Jim, I give him a quick wave as I branch off to the right to make my way to my closet.
I start my routine of getting in my coveralls so I don t get my actual clothes too dirty. Next, I start
gathering the items I normally need, finding a spot for them on the cart. Setting ... Show more content

I m still getting used to using my seeing stick, let alone walking around a mat without it. Jimmie leads
me around for the most part. I learned not much adaptation is done for the blind wrestlers. The only
thing changed is the wrestlers must remain in contact at all times throughout the match. If contact is
broken, we must reset. Jimmie has been working with me to relearn my basics. I mean, I already know
them, but not how to do them blind. Each day of the week we practice something different. Yesterday
was single leg takedowns. I ve got those down for the most part, except I keep putting my head in the
wrong spot. My face is very sore to say the least. Today we are working on the sweep single. I have to
grab the opponent s lower leg, and pull the knee to the outside. This causes the opponent to fall on his
back. Jimmie isn t easy to take down either since he s a good 50 pounds heavier than I. Time and time
again, Jimmie s leg barely moved. I need to lift more so I can have more strength against my
opponents. Our first meet is in a week. If I wasn t sleeping or eating, I was working on wrestling,
lifting, or trying to learn some braille so I don t walk into the girls bathroom. My takedowns are
sloppy, but with more practice they should be

A Comparison Of Vietnam And Martin Luther King s Speech
War is often seen as a sensitive and debatable topic and one of the most controversial wars to have
ever been fought was the Vietnam War. In Lyndon B, Johnson s Speech on Vietnam (September
29.1967) and Martin Luther King s speech, Why I am opposed to the War in Vietnam we are offered
two different perspectives on this matter. While Johnson provides reasoning on why we should fight
the war, it is King s speech that shows a more compassionate side to Vietnam that I agree with. Kings
speech offered many relevant points but the one that stood out and made me strongly support him was
him pointing out the unfairness that affects American citizens. But it is estimated that we spend
$500,000 to kill each enemy solider, while we spend only fifty three

Looking For Alaska By John Green

Looking For Alaska by John Green
Looking For Alaska by John Green is a coming of age story focused on a shy and friendless fifteen
year old boy named Miles Halter. He leaves his home in Florida to attend Culver Creek Preparatory
School in Alabama, seeking his Great Perhaps (Green 5). It is important to note that this novel is
written in two parts, before and after. Before, Miles fits in perfect at Culver Creek where he meets his
first true friends, Chip The Colonel Martin and Alaska Young. His friends help him adjust to life at the
boarding school by teaching him to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, and pull pranks with the best of
them. Miles begins to fall helplessly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In after, however, the World Religions class becomes a focal point for wrestling with the suffering
following Alaska s death (Dean 24). This quote, while talking about the religion class, sums up the
before and after structure perfectly. Before, Pudge s labyrinth was navigating Alaska s changes in
character and his almost imaginary image of her, however after her death, he finds himself in a real
life labyrinth of pain and despair, which he only escapes by forgiveness. I found Miles to be extremely
relatable. For the first part of the book, he is experiencing the same things that I, and probably most
other high school students, experienced. This makes it easy to understand his thought process and
reasoning. That being said, he is a complete pushover. I would consider him to be the epitome of a
follower. This turns out to be a major problem for him when he refuses to stand up to Alaska driving
under the influence of alcohol. Having had friends try to drink and drive numerous times, I know that
no one wants to be that guy, but his unwillingness to put his foot down ended up costing him dearly.
John Green addresses a very serious problem that faces many people in today s society. Under no
circumstances should one allow another person to drink and drive, and I felt as though he taught this
lesson in the best way possible. Readers see the huge mistake that Miles and his friends made, and
will hopefully use it as a reference when put in a similar position,

ABSTRACT With respect to the fast growing use of technology and communicative devices, electronic commerce and digital markets has steadily impacted the expansion of information systems, organizations, and society, on a global scale. The discussion of cultural differences as it relates to electronic commerce was identified while analyzing primary factors that markets should take into account. The characteristics and trends of each country examine the utilization of the Internet and electronic commerce. With attempts to compare the United States and other countries, it is revealed that electronic commerce goes beyond files residing on a server, it involves the entirety of infrastructure necessary for transactions, customer services, ... Electronic commerce is global in nature and the international markets, which represent immense potential on expanding businesses, neglecting cultural differences. III. LITERATURE REVIEW: Electronic Commerce Electronic commerce (or e commerce) consists of the repurchasing of different services and products, utilized by the internet. This includes business to business (B2B), business to consumer (B2C), and consumer to consumer(C2C) transactions. These transferable activities include, but are not limited to, online retail sales, online bill paying, supplier purchases, and Web based auctions. Electronic commerce implements and utilizes several different types of technologies including transactions of funds, electronic data interchange, credit cards, and e mail (Reference for Business, Encyclopedia of Management, 2008). The term e commerce is often used interchangeably with Electronic business (e business). E business refers to the use of digital technology and the Internet to execute the major business processes in the enterprise. E business includes activities for the internal management of the firm and for coordination with suppliers and other business partners (Laudon, K., 12th ed., p. 55). • 4. The War Against Boys By Christina Sommers The Fight is on The alarm clock rang three consecutive times, as the young man remained in bed, paying no attention to the alarm, and continued to lie asleep. His first class already starting, he decides not to attend, but instead dozes off wasting the day. This was just another typical day for my father back then. As a teen my dad always skipped out on classes whenever he got the chance to. He was the type to always fool around, and never took school seriously. At the age of 12 he basically raised himself, ever since his parents gave him up for adoption. Always moving from family to family, and having to interchange schools several times, he grew tired and became irritable to the point where he no longer had interest for an education. With no one supporting him, he found it useless to pursue in his studies and spent most of time rebelling. Based on my father s educational experiences, somehow I found it relatable to the boys in Christina Sommers article The war against boys . Just like in my father story, they could ve been facing the same scenario, which led them to plummet in their grades. According to Sommer s, article some feminists believe that girls are still at a disadvantage, when compared to boys. They argue that boys still uphold the position at the top. In reality, most of the girls have already surpassed that point and are exceling quickly. If they continue this, most girls have a higher probability in outpacing boys in academics; however there is still a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Peace-Weavers In Beowulf TITLE Freothuwebbe (frƭƞwebbe) is an Anglo Saxon word that translates as a peace weaver, woman (Bosworth 336). Peace weavers are trafficked, in a sense, as they are women who symbolize a gift transaction, an exchange between nations that is meant to forge unions and prevent hostilities. Surrounded by masculine language and actions, her feminine elegance certainly stands out. In her critical study of women in Old English literature, Helen Damico (who bases her studies primarily on similarities between Icelandic and Anglo Saxon portrayals of women) highlights her belief that Wealtheow embodies an Anglo Saxon femininity that brings a sense of aristocratic beauty to a place otherwise lacking it. Yet she goes on to speculate that Wealtheow is not merely a helpless character rather, she highlights the fact that what may seem a merely decorative aspect of the peace weaver is imbued with a sense of foreboding, of the threat of violence that underlays even the most innocuous seeming celebration. In her foundational study Language, Sign and Gender in Beowulf, Gillian Overing focuses on female signification into Anglo Saxon culture. She states that since Anglo Saxon culture is war and death oriented, women are not a natural fixture of the heroic system thus, none of the peace weavers in Beowulf are successful at the task. She asserts that the women who function as peace weavers are either silent, are not given acknowledgement for their work, or disappear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I went to this location on a Saturday night, where it was full of young people. The weather outside was warm, but rainy, so I believe this caused even more people to look for indoor fun, so the mall was packed on this Saturday night. I realize that these are young people and they are still trying to figure themselves out and fit in, but I honestly did not realize that young people spoke this way. It was very difficult for me not to speak up at that point and ask them to please not use that type of language. This made me realize the negativity that must be going on in their minds and hearts. This really opened my eyes to the actions of young people that I wasn t aware of. Seeing the way these young people were acting, dressing, and speaking made me realize, to an even greater degree, how important youth ministry is. These young people broke my heart that night as I realized how lost they must be. Many of them probably didn t grow up in loving homes. Many of them may not even have homes to go to when they left the mall that night. What is truly heartbreaking is that many of them may have never had anyone share the Gospel with them. I cannot salute the flag. I know that I am a black man in a white world (McKirdy). At first glance, this quote seems to be something that would have been said by the San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, in light of his recent protests, as well as other sports players who decided to follow suit, to the playing of the national anthem before football games. However, this is not the case. The above quote was written in the 1972 autobiography, I Never Had it Made, written by Jackie Robinson, an African American Baseball player (McKirdy). Colin Kaepernick obviously felt the same as Jackie Robinson did when he sat on the bench rather than standing during a rendition of the national anthem before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 26. During an interview with the media following the game, Kaepernick explained why he refused to stand for the anthem, I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. • 13. The Technological Advancements Of World War II William Pollard once said, Learning and innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient tomorrow. Maybe the generals of World War 1 (WW1) should have been told this when they used cavalry when they were outdated and rifles and machine guns were the weapons of this war. They found this out the hard way which sparked the time of technological innovations and changes that was WW1. The three technological innovations I will write about are machine guns, planes and tanks. On the one hand, machine guns could be said to be significant because of the extra fire power they provided on a battlefield. It has been estimated that a machine gun creates the equivalent to anywhere between 60 to 100 rifles, depending on the source, in one weapon. This gave an army defending a position a huge advantage over the attacking side and almost certainly prolonged the stalemate as breaking enemy lines became so difficult as reaching the enemy trench was a near impossible thing to do with the machine gun firing at the advancing infantry. It has been estimated that around 20% of the casualties of world war 1 were caused by the machine gun. This figure is very high considering all the possible causes of death in the battlefields of WW1. What also made the machine gun of WW1 significant was how it affected the future. These early models were the basis of a weapon used in all areas of the world ever since these first guns were used in WW1. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He would use lots of propaganda and blame the Jews, Communists, Weimar Republic and much more. At the time the world was in a recession also better known as The Great Depression. His reason for these political views are impossible to say for sure but one of the suspected reasons was the art school he applied to 2 times was a mainly Jewish school. Project management is a multifaceted activity that desires and requires diverse knowledge and skills from the concerned people. The simulation project had many considerations that took after manipulation of the natural skills and materials into meeting the elephant project. The directives that were of immense importance came from the knowledge and skills gained from the course materials and comparative approaches involved throughout the study period (Choudhury, 1988). After completing the project, I learnt immense skills and knowledge as regards going beyond extremes of time and activity in order to meet the objected and non objected calls of the project. The project on elephants had to be covered within the initial scope that was set during the creation of the project. In order to fulfill the needs and specifications of the project, the workers had to increase more of their attention, concentration, and determination. I have to admit that, for me, personally, it has become a chronic condition. Recently, I have finally made the step of realizing that stress is the evil dictator ruling a vicious cycle. A revolution is necessary: Stress is something we have all experienced at some point in our lives. From a biological perspective, stress is a phenomenon that occurs when we experience circumstances that disturb our physical and mental equilibrium. These circumstances, which are referred to as stressors, include heavy workloads, relationship problems, illnesses or upcoming, life changing events such as weddings, divorces or childbirth. Stress is naturally occurring and can even be helpful in certain situations such as being under pressure to finish an essay, but if stress is not relieved it becomes chronic. Chronic stress can have negative effects on our physical and psychological condition, relationships, work or school situation and other aspects of our social life. Stressors initiate ... Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn, a Russian author with personal experience of labor camp conditions, relates the experiences of his fellow prisoners by showing the world that humanity can be maintained in the most degrading of places. Such a theme can be observed closely in his novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, first published in 1962. As the title suggests, the novel is about a day in the Gulag (prison) from dawn to dusk from Ivan s perspective. The Gulag is designed to strip the Zeks of their individual identities and dignity. The zek s names are taken from them and replaced by numbers: S 854, The Tartar read from the white stripe that had been stitched to the back of his black jacket, (15). In the stance taken by Solzhenitsyn, Ivan maintains his dignity by resisting the idea of indulging himself with food. In the novel the author raises an important question about whether food is a necessity or valuable to humanity (dignity). When Ivan recalls a prisoner who talked about the types of Zeks who manage to live: Those who lick other men s leftovers, those who count on the doctors to pull them through, and those who squeal on their buddies, (8), he says, do not survive. Though Ivan knows that the prisoners do survive at the cost of their own humanity, he respects and agrees with most of Kuziomin s statement: You re sure to be given something to eat there, though there were plenty of others at that game, more than plenty and, what s worse, if you found a bowl with something left in it you could hardly resist licking it out, (7). For Ivan, avoiding the mess hall in the morning or after the meal was important, as he might be tempted into leaving his dignity for a little amount of food. This is a significant step towards conserving his morality and surviving his sentence. In Solzhenitsyn perspective, keeping away from the food represents the idea of control over one s body. This is highly significant because living in the Gulag, where the authority treats zeks in the most dehumanizing of ways, one needs to be able to command themselves, controls their desires to stay intact their dignity. ... The slave trade was important economically and capitalistically speaking: the economy highly depended on the slave trade and was literally dominated by it in some states. Besides the economy, other reasons of its importance were implied in politics and business: what made it really big in Charleston and in South Carolina in general was that slaves ended constituting the majority which means that slavery was focussed much more in this state than in any other one. I will refer to Benjamin Smith, the senior partner in the large slave trading firm of Smith, Brewton Smith, who had a great influence on the planters and a considerable knowledge and talent in the way he carried out his business: the fact that several head South Carolina planters lived in Charleston meant that they easily had great access to merchants, goods and slaves, and that they were also in a good position to take advantage of credit provided by Charleston merchants in the local mortgage market. Basically, Charleston had the advantage of being the commercial center of the state and could then bring to it several wealthy customers, even from different states (Morgan, 1998). In fact, their allies in North Carolina and in Georgia were great clients for these South Carolinians of Charleston even though every state was in completion with the other, none ever reached the size to be in real competition with Charleston. For example in the movie his faith is tested when King Henry VII wants to be devoiced to his wife because she cannot have a son, but the pope says no. the king turns to Thomas, but Thomas keeps his faith and follows what the pope says. The Mark of The Church is Apostolic is demonstrated by King Henry and Cromwell opposing it as well as Thomas defending it. During this time the Roman Empire was still composed mainly of pagans. Although the population of Christians was on the rise, in the beginning of the fourth century, Christians made up only 10 percent of the population in the Roman Empire. There were approximately five million Christians in the Roman Empire meaning that they were still the minority (Waldron). His conversion was an important turning point not only for Christians but also for the Roman Empire as a whole. Although most Romans still believed in Greco Roman religions, Constantine decided to become a Christian because he knew that it would be beneficial for his role as emperor. His conversion was prompted by his desire to end the tetrarchy structure of the Roman Empire and to become the sole ruler of the Roman Empire. The story of Constantine s conversion was told through Eusebius of Caersera. His recount of the story is skewed by his bias. Jimmie isn t easy to take down either since he s a good 50 pounds heavier than I. Time and time again, Jimmie s leg barely moved. I need to lift more so I can have more strength against my opponents. Our first meet is in a week. If I wasn t sleeping or eating, I was working on wrestling, lifting, or trying to learn some braille so I don t walk into the girls bathroom. My takedowns are sloppy, but with more practice they should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. A Comparison Of Vietnam And Martin Luther King s Speech War is often seen as a sensitive and debatable topic and one of the most controversial wars to have ever been fought was the Vietnam War. In Lyndon B, Johnson s Speech on Vietnam (September 29.1967) and Martin Luther King s speech, Why I am opposed to the War in Vietnam we are offered two different perspectives on this matter. While Johnson provides reasoning on why we should fight the war, it is King s speech that shows a more compassionate side to Vietnam that I agree with. Kings speech offered many relevant points but the one that stood out and made me strongly support him was him pointing out the unfairness that affects American citizens. But it is estimated that we spend $500,000 to kill each enemy solider, while we spend only fifty three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Looking For Alaska By John Green Dylan Moore Professor Dorwick English 350 9 February 2017 Looking For Alaska by John Green Looking For Alaska by John Green is a coming of age story focused on a shy and friendless fifteen year old boy named Miles Halter. He leaves his home in Florida to attend Culver Creek Preparatory School in Alabama, seeking his Great Perhaps (Green 5). It is important to note that this novel is written in two parts, before and after. Before, Miles fits in perfect at Culver Creek where he meets his first true friends, Chip The Colonel Martin and Alaska Young. His friends help him adjust to life at the boarding school by teaching him to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, and pull pranks with the best of them. Miles begins to fall helplessly ... This quote, while talking about the religion class, sums up the before and after structure perfectly. Before, Pudge s labyrinth was navigating Alaska s changes in character and his almost imaginary image of her, however after her death, he finds himself in a real life labyrinth of pain and despair, which he only escapes by forgiveness. I found Miles to be extremely relatable. For the first part of the book, he is experiencing the same things that I, and probably most other high school students, experienced. This makes it easy to understand his thought process and reasoning. That being said, he is a complete pushover. I would consider him to be the epitome of a follower. This turns out to be a major problem for him when he refuses to stand up to Alaska driving under the influence of alcohol. Having had friends try to drink and drive numerous times, I know that no one wants to be that guy, but his unwillingness to put his foot down ended up costing him dearly. John Green addresses a very serious problem that faces many people in today s society. Under no circumstances should one allow another person to drink and drive, and I felt as though he taught this lesson in the best way possible. Readers see the huge mistake that Miles and his friends made, and will hopefully use it as a reference when put in a similar position, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
