I presented this at Ignite Cincinnati 8. Each slide was displayed for only 15 seconds. Ignite conferences are extremely loud, so this presentation stood out for being silent and well designed.

- 4. EMBRACE THE SILENCE. It lets us listen, think, and reset our focus. And doesn’t it feel uncomfortable right now?
- 5. “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” —Abraham Lincoln, vampire-illiterate
- 6. LISTEN CLOSELY to the words I’m not speaking.
- 7. Why are we captivated by silence, but try to drown out valuable conversations with pointless noise?
- 8. Hold your breath. How many sounds can you distinguish right now? There’s a world of sound around you. Are you listening? (Breathe again.)
- 9. CONTROL YOUR BODY. We’re always communicating, but without words. What is this little man’s body language saying?
- 10. What about now? (If you’re not too distracted by the hyperactive mute.)
- 11. Stand strong! Communicate with passion, even if you have no words. Move with purpose, even if you have no space. Move with purpose, even if you have no space.
- 12. USE YOUR VOICE. This guy is presenting without speaking; you can persuade more powerfully even if you don’t like your own voice.
- 13. Be confident in your message and share it with authority!
- 14. DON’T BABBLE. Every word is precious. Make it, uh, count.
- 15. When you ask, “How are you?” do you even care? Are you really “fine”?
- 16. ASK QUESTIONS. They help fill the void between your ears.
- 17. Don’t ask empty questions. Don’t give empty answers.
