Presented by Jayzona Alberto and Jorge Godinez Vertical- Dental Educational technologies have propelled the College of Dental Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences further in student learning assessment. The college’s academic managers with the support of the Office of Academic Affairs have developed processes to improve test item creation and pulling valuable longitudinal reports. The establishment of these processes provides faculty members with the ability to tag questions with categories associated with institutional learning outcomes, program learning outcomes, topics, instructor, assessment level, and more. After each semester, longitudinal reports are pulled to determine areas of improvement for individual students, each cohort, as well as the semester’s curriculum. In this 45-minute interactive session, participants will learn the techniques CDM uses to develop test questions, input them into the ExamSoft portal, and export data that tracks student performance. This is a session you won’t want to miss! At the end of the session, participants will be able to: 1) Discuss methods of engaging faculty members in appropriately tagging questions to ILOs/PLOs/relevant topics. 2) Understand the process in pulling informative longitudinal data using the tagged categories to derive meaningful data relevant to student performance/progress. 3) Identify strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum. 4) Identify strengths and weaknesses of student performance.
