Kartagener s Syndrome Research Paper
Kartagener s Syndrome (PCD)
Structure and Function: The cilia organelles are found in eukaryotic cells. Cilia are made up of
microtubule based cytoskeleton called the axoneme and multiple proteins. The function of the cilia is
to keep passageways clear of any mucus and foreign particles. 38
The disease and how the organelle malfunctions: Kartagener s syndrome is a rare hereditary genetic
disorder. This disorder affects the respiratory tract, middle ear, fallopian tube, and the flagella of
sperm cells. This disorder starts in the embryologic phase of development. The diagram shows you the
main internal structure and anything missing or deformed in the central microtubules to the dynein
arms causes the protein to not properly link together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lack of movement causes there to be little to no mucus clearance in the lungs. One symptom of
Kartagener s syndrome is chronic or recurrent respiratory diseases. The respiratory diseases start off
when the patient is young, but as the patient gets older the respiratory diseases get worse. These
diseases cause progressive damage to the respiratory system. Some other symptoms of Kartagener s
syndrome is hearing loss and loss of smell. Hearing loss and loss of smell is due to the buildup of
mucus in the respiratory tract. 104
Diagnosis and prognosis: The earliest that this disorder can be diagnosed at is birth, if the newborn
experiences respiratory distress or needs respiratory therapy. Kartagener s syndrome is most often
diagnosed in early childhood. If the child has recurring ear infections, chronic sinusitis, or chronic
respiratory infections with no obvious cause the doctor will then check for PCD or Kartagener s
syndrome. There are several different ways that a doctor can diagnose you for Kartagener s syndrome.
One way to test for Kartagener s syndrome is to do a breathing test. People with this disease breath out
less nitric oxide. Other ways are to do a tissue biopsy, semen analysis, or imaging scans. The disease
causes you to be vulnerable to all different types of respiratory diseases. People with Kartagener s
syndrome can have multiple respiratory diseases

Herman B Wells Library Analysis
Learning from Las Vegas, by Robert Venturi, Steven Izenour, and Denise Scott Brown, introduces the
metaphor of ducks and decorated sheds referring to the connection between the image and the
program of the building (the program is also known as the function of the building). We will explore
the intricacies of how the image of the Herman B. Wells Library relates to the function that occurs
within it. To do so, we must first understand the metaphor of the ducks and decorated sheds.
Afterwards, we will explore the qualities of the Wells Library and decipher where it lies on the scale
between duck and decorated shed and in turn, understand the message the building declares for itself
in relation to the way people use it currently. Ducks are, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

location being prime for students to study in). The interior structure of the building remains boxy and
boring, but refinements have been added (marble walls, wood paneling, overhead lighting, ceiling
tiles, carpeting) to facilitate it s functionality. What was once a place for books has shifted to a place
for humans. What was once a place for printed documents has now shifted to the digital

The Psychology And Science Behind Drinking Recycled Water
For my research evaluating the psychology and science behind drinking recycled water, I reviewed
Collignon s speech to understand a viewpoint of opponents against the use of supplementing the
drinking water supply with pure recycled water. In his speeches, Collignon presents four major
reasons why he believes recycled drinking water is high risk and why it should be used as a last resort.
He states that it is a bad option for the environment not only because of the waste but the energy
consumption as well, it is needless money spent, he does not believe that adequate monitoring and
testing exists to ensure safety, and it is a bad option for people s health because of the increased risk.
Although he states that his stance is not one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Collignon believes the environment will be contaminated by the sewage if it is placed upstream from
the drinking supply. The concept of being downstream from a drinking supply with contaminants
exists for every occupant on this Earth, which is why there are catchment areas for water to be
sanitized for drinking. Collignon believes the energy consumption used to treat the water will leave a
larger carbon footprint on the environment. Collignon fails to cite the low carbon energy sources and
technology available. The United Kingdom Environment Agency has developed a plan to reduce all
carbon emission produced by their water processing plants by 80% (Ainger). Charles Ainger of the
Environment Agency outlines energy recovery through on site small scale, low head, hydro schemes,
and insists it may provide a carbon efficient means of meeting demand and maintaining a low carbon
approach. Ainger s schemes include adsorbents and catalysts that can be regenerated using sunlight,
low pressure self cleaning chemical free membrane systems, and energy monitoring that automatically
optimizes and processes decisions based on energy/chemical usage and carbon production. These

Manipulation In Macbeth
Although William Shakespeare created the play, Macbeth, to be a tragedy, the tragic hero can hardly
be considered to be one. For the entirety of one of Shakespeare s most magnificent works, Macbeth is
controlled and manipulated into committing atrocious acts that the witches and his wife desire. He is
powerless to their tricks and through their sorcery/cunning words and his own morals (or lack thereof)
sustain[s] the central paradox the heroic murderer (Cusick). Despite the fact that he laments the loss of
his king, Duncan, he still continues down his path of evil that only has one ending: his death. Although

Examples Of Appeasement
Appeasement was merely a catalyst that aids in the materialization of Hitler s ambitions which was the
main driving force to Hitler s expansionist policies. Appeasement is a policy of making material
concessions to an enemy power which is Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Germany in this context in order
to avoid conflict and maintain peace. Main driving force can also be defined as the biggest motivation
for Hitler to pursue his expansionist policies which is his ideas of establishing Lebenstraum and
Greater Germany. Thus, appeasement to a small extent, is the main driving force behind Hitler s
expansionist policies.
Firstly, the main driving force behind Hitler s expansionist policies is his personal ambition. Hitler s

Appeasement made Hitler bolder in his expansionist policies. An example of appeasement is the
Reoccupation of Rhineland. When Hitler ordered his soldiers to march into Rhineland, breaching the
terms of TOV, France was prepared to force Hitler back down if Britain agreed to support her.
However, Britain wanted to avoid going to war by all means so Britain appease Hitler by not doing
anything to force him to back down. France believed that there were 295,000 men stationed in
Rhineland which in reality was a bluff and was not confident of fighting Germany alone so she backed
away. Thus, Hitler was able to invade Rhineland. The appeasement made it an easy way for Hitler to
acquire more land even though he did not have enough soldiers because even countries like France
and British believed that Germany s military was that strong and were willing to give in easily to
Hitler s demand. Also, appeasement resulted Hitler to become even bolder in his expansionist policies
by demanding more lands as he knew that Britain and France was the most unwilling to fight a war
and would not put a stop to his actions even if it means breaking the international law. Thus,
appeasement was a small driving force behind Hitler s expansionist

The Life of Isaac Newton
Throughout the span of Isaac Newton s life time, he accomplished, dreamed, and achieved what others
thought were impossible. He was a curious man, with a passion to learn and discover the
undiscovered. Newton uncovered scientific answers that lead the way to influential discoveries in
motion and mathematics, optics, and also physics. He was not only an educated physicist and
mathematician, but experienced and established in his frame of study. To say Newton was just a
scientist would be an understatement, he was one of the great minds of the 17th century Scientific
Revolution (Source 3). Isaac Newton was born in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England on January 4,
1643. He was born as a premature baby and no one expected him to live. Newton s father passed away
three months before he was born. When Sir Newton was only three years old, his mother, Hannah
Newton, abandon her son and ran off to marry her second husband. Newton was left to be raised by
his maternal grandmother. One thoughtless action of his mother, manifested into a sense of
abandonment, irrational behavior, and also and insecurity issues for this young boy. When Newton
was twelve years old, his mother returned with three step children, after her second husband died. She
pulled Newton out of school, for she wanted him to practice farming, thinking he could make a fine
career out of it. Poor Newton hated farming and found it as such a tedious task. His mother soon

Example Of Nonverbal Communication
COM1211N1 NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION ASSIGNMENT
Analysis of Nonverbal Communication Nonverbal communication can range from gestures, facial
expressions, and other behaviors that are attempting to send a message to another person without
using words to communicate. With several forms of nonverbal communication, there is an attached
message with the behaviors, though they can have different meanings to different people. The message
being sent along with the nonverbal behaviors can also be directly noticed and understood by the other
person in the conversation, or can be completely misunderstood or unnoticed. While examining the
characteristics and behaviors of nonverbal gestures, we can unravel the message being relayed within
communication. I had identified two couples each on a date at Panino s restaurant, finding individual
characteristics of nonverbal communication, as one couple had been in a disagreement and one couple
had a more romantic evening together. Though during the observation of each interaction, I had
noticed contradistinction between the way the two couples communicated using non verbally,
movement and gesture, and facial display messages.
Signs of Nonverbal Communication: Expressing Emotions The couple who had been in a
disagreement at the restaurant had many interactions of verbal and nonverbal conversations. The
verbal messages being sent from the lady to the gentlemen were that he had sent another lady
flirtatious messages on Facebook, which

Women Have the Burden of Birth Control
Worrying about getting pregnant is a pain that everyone who is sexually active has to face, or should
face. The question is, who does that burden of worrying about getting pregnant fall on. As evidence
will show, women take most of the burden or responsibility when it comes to providing contraception
during sex. Women have more invested when it comes to sex due to the consequences that result from
failing to protect against pregnancy. Looking at the burden of contraception in four different ways, the
time involved, the cost of birth control, the physical side effects of contraception, and the effect due to
failure of contraception.

Some men and/or women have allergic reactions to the rubber used to make latex condoms
(Condoms).
Birth control is not 100% effective, it can fail just like any other form of contraception. Birth control
pills contain two hormones estrogen and progestin. The different types of birth control pills a woman
can take all have different amounts of each hormone. As a woman gets older her body s hormones that
it naturally produces will change causing the amount of each hormone that is needed to change,
because of the changing hormone levels, it can cause a women s birth control pills to be unreliable.
This increases the female s chance of getting pregnant. Also, if a female forgets to take an active pill
one day it can cause pregnancy to occur for up to seven days after a missed pill, if no back up method
is used (Detailed Patient Labeling Norgestmate And Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets USP 0.18 Mg/0.035 Mg,
0.215 Mg/0.035 Mg, 0.25 Mg/0.035 Mg). Condoms are not 100% effective, and it can fail just like
any other form of contraception. Condoms can be put on wrong which weakens the condoms stability.
Condoms can also expire and if not kept in the right environments can go bad before the expiration
date. Also condoms can break relatively easily if used incorrectly.
Some people feel that it should be the female s responsibility to provide the contraception during sex
because females have more options then men do. Females can choose from birth control pills, the birth

Bilingual Infants Have A Cognitive Advantage
Abstract
Cognitive development advances gradually during infancy. Bilingual infants have often been treated
as a special population with unique advantages or disadvantages as compared to monolinguals. A
recent collection of studies has demonstrated advantages in infants exposed to two languages,
however the specificity of this advantage remains unclear (Singh et al., 2015; Brito Barr, 2013).
Although, one component such as memory can show a hallmark of an infant s flexibility in
development. Summarized in this paper are two studies in which researchers investigated whether or
not bilingual infants have a cognitive advantage. With comparisons between monolinguals and
bilinguals both studies reveal a bilingual advantage in cognitive control. The studies utilized two
different methods, the visual habituation procedure and the deferred imitation of memory retrieval.
Taken together, the studies evaluated how bilingualism may be correlated to a general enhancement of
the cognitive control system.
The Bilingual Advantage
There has been substantial amount of empirical research done on bilingual infants in which researches
have come up with the term bilingual advantage. Previous studies conducted have shown advantages
associated with exposure within two languages (Singh et al., 2015; Brito Barr, 2013). One study
argues that visual habituation has been shown as the best predictor of later intelligence, and is the
most basic experimental test of information in infancy. During

Guido As A True Hero In The Film Life Is Beautiful
The film Life is Beautiful, tells the powerful story of a Jewish man who uses his
humorous personality to protect his son in a concentration camp. The use of comedy to

beauty and light can be found even in the most horrible of places. Guido, the movie s
protagonist, uses his wit and optimistic character to save his family. This movie is truly
complex as it is a lighthearted comedy, while at the same time a dark drama.

has remained consistent is; that Fathers will always be protective of their daughters, and that people

The Ethics Of Outsourcing In The United States
In today s society, outsourcing has become a very critical and controversial issue to companies and
other countries. Outsourcing is known as offshoring as an organization s use of an outside
organization for a broad set of services. As technology continues to grow and advance more,
outsourcing becomes more popular. Many American white collar jobs are being taken over by foreign
countries around the world. Almost every occupation or career in the United States has some effect of
the outsourcing. As a result, many Americans become unemployed and financially challenged; being
that outsourcing can increase the United States unemployment rate. Employees who live in the US

with the gas pedal, and the firm suspended production and sales. In 2011, 111,000 vehicles from

Therese had not reached the age of thirty five without learning that life presents many insurmountable
obstacles which must be accepted, whether with the callousness of philosophy, the revolt of weakness

times she found herself wishing that she had died alongside him, she was forced to stand up, be strong,
and assume the role that her late husband had played. She did not ask anyone for help, instead she did
what was called upon her. She was strong and she refused to break under the extremely large

Alabama s Confederate Flag Controversy
Alabama s Confederate Flag Controversy The outlining issue here is the Confederate Flag and its

The opposing side felt that it is a part of southern/the south s history, pride and should be honored.
Also, the opposing side feels that with other issues happening in the community; this debate is not

attention in 1988 when thirteen black legislators were attempting to jump a fence to extract the

Tom Reed and Guy Hunter are the results of a dispute lasting over two decades. Beforehand Governor

Reflection Paper On Reading Skills
From working with Joe for the past few weeks, I noticed there were a few different reading skills that
he could use some practice with. One of the first things I noticed while working with Joe was his
fluency while reading. During the running records I had done with Joe, I was able to listen to his
reading pace, and noticed that he only took pauses when he needed to take a breath. I also noticed that
he used no expression while reading; not even when there was quotation marks present. Another
reading skill that Joe lacked was good use of a decoding strategy. When Joe was presented with a
word he didn t know, he would use picture cues, but when that didn t work, or when illustrations were
minimal, Joe would simply skip over the word. When I asked Joe what he liked to do when he came
across a word he didn t know he said, I don t know . I got a similar answer when I asked him if he
knew what his teacher, and friends did when they came across a word they didn t know. This
observation showed me that Joe could really benefit from having a decoding strategy presented to him
in a minilesson. On the first day of co teaching; my partner and I focused on teaching a decoding

Dr. Nash Case Study
During the course of this trial, you saw how one man solved his 20 billion dollar problem. It was the
prosecution s burden to prove my client guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. As the defense, we carried
no burden in today s trial. However, you still saw that this was Dr. Nash s problem, Dr. Nash s plan,
and Dr. Nash s patsy. First, it was Dr. Nash s problem. You heard how a computer glitch was causing
Dr. Nash to mentally deteriorate at work. This glitch was causing a net loss on every car Dr. Nash
produced. But if something were to happen to the plant, Nash wouldn t be responsible for returning
that preorder money. He had 20 billion reasons to burn down that plant. Yet the prosecution points the
finger at my client, arguing that by some transitive property, it would ve benefitted Taylor to solve Dr.
Nash s problem. They point to prior crimes my client was arrested for when he was 16 and even 12
years old. They want you to convict my client simply because of his past. They want you to ignore Dr.
Nash s motive because they don t have one that makes sense for Taylor Edsel. Second, it was Dr. Nash
s plan. The prosecution s own expert told you how the fire was set: the safeties on the ... Show more

Nash s patsy. Nash knew that my client used a navy zippo lighter to start his previous fires. You heard
that lighter went missing inside of Dr. Nash s plant just three days before the fire and then turned up at
the scene. What s also curious is the text message that Dr. Nash screenshotted. On the day of the fire,
my client texted Nash, saying he was going to the company. Just one minute after the text was sent,
Dr. Nash screenshotted it. What other reason would Nash have to screenshot this message, other than
to turn it over to the police to place my client at the fire? When the police finally got around to
speaking to Nash, he said he was watching fireworks that night. That s an alibi that can t be
corroborated because Agent Duesenberg never investigated

Evaluation Of Using A Protocol Adoption Of A Bundle Care...
A timeframe of about 6 month test of pilot will be completed to test the feasibility and efficacy of a
protocol adoption of a bundle care for the prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia. The VAP
bundle protocol guidelines will be used to determine quality management and reflective data audit for
all patients admitted in the intensive care unit with mechanical intubation within this 6 month trial
period. Evaluation is a systematic way of checking a project s information on the activities, and
characteristics in order to make a judgement of the project. Evaluation can help to give
recommendations to the project and improve by adapting the recommendations and improve future
projects. Evaluation gives managers considerable evidence to support the decision process with the
well documented analysis. Described methods used to evaluate effectiveness of proposed solution. In
order to attain excellence in patient care, latest evidence to support care is necessary, and the outcomes
of the care in nursing should show aspects of the process change (Frisch Kelley, 2002). The purpose of
an evaluation is to see if there is compliance with the intended change and measure the impact of the
process change. When doing evaluation it is important to engage the key stakeholders in the process.
In addition, working with the stakeholders to ensure that the training objectives align with the business
needs if of far great importance. Expectations of the training should also be in agreement

Emma And Her Father Essay
Emma and her father
Little information is given about Emma s mother, who has died when she were a child. After her sister
married and left Heartfield, Emma has developed a rare and close relationship with her father, which
is the main source for Emma s sense of independence and control. Therefore, with the mother gone,
similar to Emma in temperament and talent, Emma lost the sole person who had a position of control
over her. As demonstrated by Mr. Knightley s observation: ever since she was twelve, Emma has been
mistress of the house and of you all. In her mother she lost the only person able to cope with her. She
inherits her mother s talents, and must have been under subjection to her (48).
Therefore, Emma is not under subjection to Mr. Woodhouse, as we are told He could not meet her in
conversation, rational or playful (24). His peculiarities, and proclivity to excessive hypochondria a
nervous man, easily depressed (5), allow Emma to develop a relationship of dependency with the
elderly man, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Indeed, Emma diminishes any reason for marrying. As Emma explains to Harriet, she has fortune
enough to support herself for the rest of her life; thus she need not seek financial gain from marriage.
As far as love goes, Emma realizes that her relationship with her father is rare, and the entire second
half of Emma s statement reflects upon their relationship. First, Emma explains that in her relationship
with her father, she has independence in that she is a true mistress of Hartfield. Second, she explains
that she has love and respect with her father; she is always beloved and

Research Methodology Of A Research Approach Essay
3. Research Methodology In order to address the objectives set out in this research, a quantitative
research approach has been employed and follows models developed by Tinbergen (1962),
MacCullum (1995), Andrew (2002), and Augustin and Tawah (2012). The study is designed in such a
way that it doesn t take the entire model developed by any one of these scholars, instead it adopts
those variables which are appropraite to the situation under investigatation and adds some relevant
explanatory variables. 3.1. Research Design In this study, 11 independent variables have been used to
measure the pattern of the dependent variable. Dependent variable vary by the factors that influence
them where as independent variables stand on their own changes in other variables in the model have
no effect on them. An independent variable in one context may be a dependent variable in another.
The dependent variable in this research is the average of bilateral trade and the research is designed to
learn more about the determinants of the direction of trade in the EAC member states. GDP in both
trading partners, distance between the centers in both the trading partners, number of people in both
countries, membership in a preferential trade agreement, the existence of common border, language,
having sea gate, colonial ties, and membership in the EAC regional integration are the independent
variables. 3.2. Model Specification Trade flow modelling has been at the center of trade researches

Summary Of Summer Reading Packet
Kassidy Neely Ms. Moya English Language Arts 1 2 Honors July 31, 2014 Summer Reading Packet
1) Scout admires Miss Maudie for her kindness, honesty and patient understanding of her, Jem and
Dill. She sees the brighter side of things like when her house burned down, she said how she had
always wanted to downsize; and how there was more room for her azaleas now that her garden was
gone. She was only worried about her neighbors during this whole incident. 2) Atticus accepted the
job to defend Tom Robinson because he supports equality more than anyone in the town of Maycomb.
3) The kids at school make fun of Scout and Jem because of her dad defending Tom Robinson and her
dad being all for equality. 4) Aunt Alexandra disapproves of Scout because she believes that she isn t
ladylike enough. 5) Uncle Jack realizes later that he should always hear both sides of a story before he
jumps to conclusions and issues punishments. 6) Calpurnia scolds scout for questioning Walter s
eating habits. 7) Miss Caroline tells Scout to stop reading with her father. 8) Miss Maudie s house
catches on fire. 9) Jem s pants were folded and all of the wholes in them were sewn up. 10) Atticus
can shoot, which shocks the kids. 11) The concluding sentence of chapter says, but I never figured out
how Atticus knew I was listening, and it was not until many years later that I realized that he wanted
me to hear every word he said. Uncle Jack and Atticus were having a conversation about the Tom

Human Rights Violations of China s One Child Policy Essay
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to highlight to what extent government policy has violated the human
rights of women in China. Government policy is important to the organization of countries.
Government policies work to aid in political, economic, and social issues that can become detrimental
to the function of a country. Flourishing government policies prove to be efficient and effective when
implementation is deemed successful. The One Child Policy proved to be successful in reducing
population size. As past policy rules have now been eased, family planning officials in the region have
begun drafting less strict family planning protocols. Though it has proved to be a successful policy in
curbing population growth, the One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the years following, population in the country began to increase yet again at rapid rates . This
increase came to be the forecaster for the need of antinatalist policy.
In the last few years that China s population experienced huge increases and decreases in population
size, Chinese governments provided family planning assistance for women and children . Not until the
population increased during the early 1960 s did government officials begin to view the threat such a
massive population would have on the future of the country. In 1979 China began to implement a
family planning policy in response to social and economic troubles that plagued the country due to the
rapid population growth as death rates decreased and birth rates continued to soar. The primary
objective of this policy was to decrease procreation in the region by encouraging individuals to
prolong engagements, limiting reproduction, and the promotion of an idealistic one child family.
Government officials enforced policy regulations by imposing taxes on those who challenged the new
policy and financial incentives for those who obeyed. Since its implementation, the One Child Policy
has dominated fertility rates as well as alleviating the increase in global population. China s policy
proved to be an idealistic approach at preventing population increase by restricting the reproductive

The Value Of Values For A Human Life
Life is just a bowl of cherries. After our birth, we go to school and subsequently work until we die
with no further progression. Finality in death does not often motivate people to sway from this
monotone, predetermined story. But it should. Our lives are blips in the grand scheme of things with
no real significance or impact so how do we assign a value to human life? Is a construction worker
more valuable than an inventor or a teacher? What can one do to be valuable even in the slightest? As
controversial as deciding someone s life value is, putting a dollar value on that life arises as a more
challenging topic. We must assign a dollar value to lives in the justice system. If not for our obsession
with currency we might value people s lives all the same. We give power to pieces of green paper,
therefore, justifying compensation for a human life. With many contributing factors to a person s
value, one must consider sick or disabled people who simply cannot actively contribute to the future
of mankind. Society should assign value to human lives based on whether a person reproduces or
passes on wisdom in a monumental way. Although some people can be worth something without
reproducing or passing wisdom on, having children and positively influencing the future is the sole
biological purpose of the human race. Happiness can lead to a valuable life. In spite of this, your own
happiness will be forgotten eventually or maybe not even remembered at all. Humans busy themselves

The Dogs Could Teach Me By Gary Paulsen
The passage The Dogs Could Teach Me By Gary Paulsen has the best usage of description when
compared to The Flowers by Alice Walker and The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty. Paulsen uses exquisite
description of his surroundings in the passage. One example from the text is, ... an old logging trail
went through a small, sharp sided gully a tiny canyon. and, ... the stream directly at the top of a small
frozen waterfall with about a twenty foot drop. With Paulsen using sentences like these to describe the
scene, usually, as a reader they understand and empathize with this man about his current situation,
being that he is hurt and in this environment. Also, compared to the other texts, The Dogs Could Teach
Me is also very good at painting out how

Differentiation of Cyclic Tertiary Amine Cathinone Derivatives by
Product Ion Electron Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Abstract
Rationale
A number of synthetic cathinones (aminoketones, ?bath salts?) are tertiary amines containing a cyclic
amino group, most commonly pyrrolidine. These totally synthetic compounds can be prepared in a
number of regioisomeric designer modification and many of these can yield isomeric major EI MS
fragment ions.
Methods
A series of regioisomeric cyclic tertiary amines were prepared and evaluated in EI MS and MS/MS
product ion experiments. The cyclic amines azetidine, pyrrolidine, piperidine and azepane were
incorporated into a series of aminoketones related to the cathinone derivative drug of abuse known as
MDPV. Deuterium labeling in both the cyclic amine and alkyl side chain allowed for the

Earle Wheeler Case Summary
Earle Wheeler was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1964 to 1970, during the Vietnam
War. From 1962 to 1964 he served as Chief of Staff of the United States Army and then in July 1964
the U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed Wheeler as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
to succeed General Maxwell Taylor. Wheeler was the longest serving Chairman of the Joint Chiefs to
date, serving six years. Wheeler and Robert McNamara the Secretary of Defense often disagreed with
one another, they have great respect for each other. General Wheeler being the nation s top military
officer undoubtedly spanned the height of America s involvement in the Vietnam War. Wheeler
oversaw and supported the expanding U.S. military role in the Vietnam War in the mid 1960s,
consistently backing the field commander s requests for additional troops and operating authority. He
often urged U.S. President Johnson to strike harder at North Vietnam and to expand aerial bombing
campaigns. Wheeler was concerned with minimizing costs to U.S. ground troops. At the same time, he
preferred what he saw as a realistic assessment of the capabilities of the South Vietnamese military. ...

As an educational leader, one must be aware of the assets of the community served by the school,
where the students coexist outside the walls of the school, and what the community offers to those
who reside in it. The aim of this report is to convey information about the housing patterns, libraries
and bookstores, food resources, hospitals and healthcare providers, social and community agencies,
recreational settings, and activities located in this community and its impact on equity. The method
used to gather information about the community in the attendance zone for Richard J Wilson

Most of the houses were constructed before the 1950 s (Figure 3). The houses that were not
deteriorating showed evidence of renovations (Figure 4). Conditions of the inside of the house in
terms of comfort and safety for its residents are unknown. Figure 3. Years of construction for Wilson
attendance zone. Figure 4. Samples of housing in area. This photo illustrates the contrast of
deteriorating houses and houses which have been renovated. There are many indicators from the US
Census (2011 2015) that give a clue to the socio economic conditions of a community. The level of
homeownerships gives a picture of how vested residents are in a community. Usually a homeowner is
more invested in a community and its maintenance than a tenant because they have literally invested
their capital in that community. (REALTORS®, August 2010) The US Census (2011 2015) showed
higher levels of rented accommodations instead of homeownership in this area (Figure 5). This was
also observed during the community walk. Figure 5: Proportion of Households with Various Income

for owners was $1,237, for non mortgage owners was $421, and for renters was $774. An estimated
28% of owners had mortgages, 16% of owners had no mortgages, and 55% of were tenants. In the

  • 2. Kartagener s Syndrome Research Paper Kartagener s Syndrome (PCD) Structure and Function: The cilia organelles are found in eukaryotic cells. Cilia are made up of microtubule based cytoskeleton called the axoneme and multiple proteins. The function of the cilia is to keep passageways clear of any mucus and foreign particles. 38 The disease and how the organelle malfunctions: Kartagener s syndrome is a rare hereditary genetic disorder. This disorder affects the respiratory tract, middle ear, fallopian tube, and the flagella of sperm cells. This disorder starts in the embryologic phase of development. The diagram shows you the main internal structure and anything missing or deformed in the central microtubules to the dynein arms causes the protein to not properly link together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lack of movement causes there to be little to no mucus clearance in the lungs. One symptom of Kartagener s syndrome is chronic or recurrent respiratory diseases. The respiratory diseases start off when the patient is young, but as the patient gets older the respiratory diseases get worse. These diseases cause progressive damage to the respiratory system. Some other symptoms of Kartagener s syndrome is hearing loss and loss of smell. Hearing loss and loss of smell is due to the buildup of mucus in the respiratory tract. 104 Diagnosis and prognosis: The earliest that this disorder can be diagnosed at is birth, if the newborn experiences respiratory distress or needs respiratory therapy. Kartagener s syndrome is most often diagnosed in early childhood. If the child has recurring ear infections, chronic sinusitis, or chronic respiratory infections with no obvious cause the doctor will then check for PCD or Kartagener s syndrome. There are several different ways that a doctor can diagnose you for Kartagener s syndrome. One way to test for Kartagener s syndrome is to do a breathing test. People with this disease breath out less nitric oxide. Other ways are to do a tissue biopsy, semen analysis, or imaging scans. The disease causes you to be vulnerable to all different types of respiratory diseases. People with Kartagener s syndrome can have multiple respiratory diseases ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Herman B Wells Library Analysis Learning from Las Vegas, by Robert Venturi, Steven Izenour, and Denise Scott Brown, introduces the metaphor of ducks and decorated sheds referring to the connection between the image and the program of the building (the program is also known as the function of the building). We will explore the intricacies of how the image of the Herman B. Wells Library relates to the function that occurs within it. To do so, we must first understand the metaphor of the ducks and decorated sheds. Afterwards, we will explore the qualities of the Wells Library and decipher where it lies on the scale between duck and decorated shed and in turn, understand the message the building declares for itself in relation to the way people use it currently. • 4. The Psychology And Science Behind Drinking Recycled Water For my research evaluating the psychology and science behind drinking recycled water, I reviewed Collignon s speech to understand a viewpoint of opponents against the use of supplementing the drinking water supply with pure recycled water. In his speeches, Collignon presents four major reasons why he believes recycled drinking water is high risk and why it should be used as a last resort. He states that it is a bad option for the environment not only because of the waste but the energy consumption as well, it is needless money spent, he does not believe that adequate monitoring and testing exists to ensure safety, and it is a bad option for people s health because of the increased risk. Although he states that his stance is not one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Collignon believes the environment will be contaminated by the sewage if it is placed upstream from the drinking supply. The concept of being downstream from a drinking supply with contaminants exists for every occupant on this Earth, which is why there are catchment areas for water to be sanitized for drinking. Collignon believes the energy consumption used to treat the water will leave a larger carbon footprint on the environment. Collignon fails to cite the low carbon energy sources and technology available. The United Kingdom Environment Agency has developed a plan to reduce all carbon emission produced by their water processing plants by 80% (Ainger). Charles Ainger of the Environment Agency outlines energy recovery through on site small scale, low head, hydro schemes, and insists it may provide a carbon efficient means of meeting demand and maintaining a low carbon approach. Ainger s schemes include adsorbents and catalysts that can be regenerated using sunlight, low pressure self cleaning chemical free membrane systems, and energy monitoring that automatically optimizes and processes decisions based on energy/chemical usage and carbon production. Main driving force can also be defined as the biggest motivation for Hitler to pursue his expansionist policies which is his ideas of establishing Lebenstraum and Greater Germany. When Hitler ordered his soldiers to march into Rhineland, breaching the terms of TOV, France was prepared to force Hitler back down if Britain agreed to support her. However, Britain wanted to avoid going to war by all means so Britain appease Hitler by not doing anything to force him to back down. France believed that there were 295,000 men stationed in Rhineland which in reality was a bluff and was not confident of fighting Germany alone so she backed away. Thus, Hitler was able to invade Rhineland. The appeasement made it an easy way for Hitler to acquire more land even though he did not have enough soldiers because even countries like France and British believed that Germany s military was that strong and were willing to give in easily to Hitler s demand. Also, appeasement resulted Hitler to become even bolder in his expansionist policies by demanding more lands as he knew that Britain and France was the most unwilling to fight a war and would not put a stop to his actions even if it means breaking the international law. Newton uncovered scientific answers that lead the way to influential discoveries in motion and mathematics, optics, and also physics. He was not only an educated physicist and mathematician, but experienced and established in his frame of study. To say Newton was just a scientist would be an understatement, he was one of the great minds of the 17th century Scientific Revolution (Source 3). Example Of Nonverbal Communication COM1211N1 NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION ASSIGNMENT Analysis of Nonverbal Communication Nonverbal communication can range from gestures, facial expressions, and other behaviors that are attempting to send a message to another person without using words to communicate. With several forms of nonverbal communication, there is an attached message with the behaviors, though they can have different meanings to different people. The message being sent along with the nonverbal behaviors can also be directly noticed and understood by the other person in the conversation, or can be completely misunderstood or unnoticed. While examining the characteristics and behaviors of nonverbal gestures, we can unravel the message being relayed within communication. I had identified two couples each on a date at Panino s restaurant, finding individual characteristics of nonverbal communication, as one couple had been in a disagreement and one couple had a more romantic evening together. Though during the observation of each interaction, I had noticed contradistinction between the way the two couples communicated using non verbally, movement and gesture, and facial display messages. Some men and/or women have allergic reactions to the rubber used to make latex condoms (Condoms). Birth control is not 100% effective, it can fail just like any other form of contraception. As a woman gets older her body s hormones that it naturally produces will change causing the amount of each hormone that is needed to change, because of the changing hormone levels, it can cause a women s birth control pills to be unreliable. • 11. Bilingual Infants Have A Cognitive Advantage Abstract Cognitive development advances gradually during infancy. Bilingual infants have often been treated as a special population with unique advantages or disadvantages as compared to monolinguals. A recent collection of studies has demonstrated advantages in infants exposed to two languages, however the specificity of this advantage remains unclear (Singh et al., 2015; Brito Barr, 2013). Although, one component such as memory can show a hallmark of an infant s flexibility in development. Summarized in this paper are two studies in which researchers investigated whether or not bilingual infants have a cognitive advantage. With comparisons between monolinguals and bilinguals both studies reveal a bilingual advantage in cognitive control. The studies utilized two different methods, the visual habituation procedure and the deferred imitation of memory retrieval. Taken together, the studies evaluated how bilingualism may be correlated to a general enhancement of the cognitive control system. The Bilingual Advantage There has been substantial amount of empirical research done on bilingual infants in which researches have come up with the term bilingual advantage. Previous studies conducted have shown advantages associated with exposure within two languages (Singh et al., 2015; Brito Barr, 2013). One study argues that visual habituation has been shown as the best predictor of later intelligence, and is the most basic experimental test of information in infancy. During ... In 2011, 111,000 vehicles from Toyota and Lexus were again recalled due to the damage to the element of the substrate shutdown of hybrid system. And later in the year, Toyota announced to recall 181,000 vehicles due to the non ordinary noise and oil leakage, which have resulted from the bolts that were loosely attached. (MacKenzie, 2015) Beside these recalls, there have been lawsuits for vehicle failure. Toyota has a lower return on equity (13.9%) and return on asset (4.9%) than other auto companies such as Honda and Nissan. If you compare Toyota and Honda, you can tell that asset turnover ratio for Nissan is 81%, while Toyota only has 60%. At Fault Character Review Essay A Woman Ahead of Her Time The Land of the Free, the Home of the Brave ; these are the words that since 1814 have been used to describe the spirit of the country that we call America. For many, this country symbolizes a history of just that; bravery and freedom. But what does it mean to be an American? Does it simply mean that a person is born in to the country, or does it mean that they empower the character traits used to describe the country itself? When describing America and what it is to be or behave as an American, there are many traits that are often used such as brave, hardworking, strong, having the ability to overcome obstacles, a belief in equality and freedom for all, being a groundbreaker, and having a strong, direct ... Therese had not reached the age of thirty five without learning that life presents many insurmountable obstacles which must be accepted, whether with the callousness of philosophy, the revolt of weakness or the dignity of self respect. (Chopin) Although the death of her husband was very hard on her, and at times she found herself wishing that she had died alongside him, she was forced to stand up, be strong, and assume the role that her late husband had played. She did not ask anyone for help, instead she did what was called upon her. She was strong and she refused to break under the extremely large emotional burden and responsibility that had been placed upon her. Having independence and pride in oneself and the things that they believe in are traditionally American traits that Therese also has within herself. Therese possessed an independence of thought exceptional enough when considered in relation to her life and its surrounding conditions. The opposing side felt that it is a part of southern/the south s history, pride and should be honored. Also, the opposing side feels that with other issues happening in the community; this debate is not something that should take priority over what they believe were severe matters. The issue gained attention in 1988 when thirteen black legislators were attempting to jump a fence to extract the confederate flag from a top of the Alabama s capitol flagpole. Governor, at the time, Guy Hunt had the men arrested and this arrest became national television news coverage. One contributing factor for this incident gaining a high volume of attention, was Tom Reed. Tom Reed was one of the black Tuskegee legislator, leader of the thirteen men and at the time current president of the NAACP Alabama chapter. Tom Reed and Guy Hunter are the results of a dispute lasting over two decades. Beforehand Governor George Wallace used the position of the flag as a symbolic opposition to the Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy coming to Alabama back in the 1960s. One of the first things I noticed while working with Joe was his fluency while reading. During the running records I had done with Joe, I was able to listen to his reading pace, and noticed that he only took pauses when he needed to take a breath. I also noticed that he used no expression while reading; not even when there was quotation marks present. Another reading skill that Joe lacked was good use of a decoding strategy. When Joe was presented with a word he didn t know, he would use picture cues, but when that didn t work, or when illustrations were minimal, Joe would simply skip over the word. When I asked Joe what he liked to do when he came across a word he didn t know he said, I don t know . I got a similar answer when I asked him if he knew what his teacher, and friends did when they came across a word they didn t know. This observation showed me that Joe could really benefit from having a decoding strategy presented to him in a minilesson. On the first day of co teaching; my partner and I focused on teaching a decoding strategy, so we could practice that strategy if needed while doing a fluency exercise the next time we met. Taberski mentions how working with words, and decoding strategy will help students move from hesitancy to fluency (pg 87). It was the prosecution s burden to prove my client guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. As the defense, we carried no burden in today s trial. However, you still saw that this was Dr. Nash s problem, Dr. Nash s plan, and Dr. Nash s patsy. First, it was Dr. Nash s problem. You heard how a computer glitch was causing Dr. Nash to mentally deteriorate at work. This glitch was causing a net loss on every car Dr. Nash produced. But if something were to happen to the plant, Nash wouldn t be responsible for returning that preorder money. He had 20 billion reasons to burn down that plant. Yet the prosecution points the finger at my client, arguing that by some transitive property, it would ve benefitted Taylor to solve Dr. Nash s problem. They point to prior crimes my client was arrested for when he was 16 and even 12 years old. They want you to convict my client simply because of his past. Research Methodology In order to address the objectives set out in this research, a quantitative research approach has been employed and follows models developed by Tinbergen (1962), MacCullum (1995), Andrew (2002), and Augustin and Tawah (2012). The study is designed in such a way that it doesn t take the entire model developed by any one of these scholars, instead it adopts those variables which are appropraite to the situation under investigatation and adds some relevant explanatory variables. 3.1. Research Design In this study, 11 independent variables have been used to measure the pattern of the dependent variable. Dependent variable vary by the factors that influence them where as independent variables stand on their own changes in other variables in the model have no effect on them. Not until the population increased during the early 1960 s did government officials begin to view the threat such a massive population would have on the future of the country. In 1979 China began to implement a family planning policy in response to social and economic troubles that plagued the country due to the rapid population growth as death rates decreased and birth rates continued to soar. The primary objective of this policy was to decrease procreation in the region by encouraging individuals to prolong engagements, limiting reproduction, and the promotion of an idealistic one child family. Government officials enforced policy regulations by imposing taxes on those who challenged the new policy and financial incentives for those who obeyed. • 28. The Value Of Values For A Human Life Life is just a bowl of cherries. After our birth, we go to school and subsequently work until we die with no further progression. Finality in death does not often motivate people to sway from this monotone, predetermined story. But it should. Our lives are blips in the grand scheme of things with no real significance or impact so how do we assign a value to human life? Is a construction worker more valuable than an inventor or a teacher? What can one do to be valuable even in the slightest? As controversial as deciding someone s life value is, putting a dollar value on that life arises as a more challenging topic. We must assign a dollar value to lives in the justice system. If not for our obsession with currency we might value people s lives all the same. We give power to pieces of green paper, therefore, justifying compensation for a human life. With many contributing factors to a person s value, one must consider sick or disabled people who simply cannot actively contribute to the future of mankind. Society should assign value to human lives based on whether a person reproduces or passes on wisdom in a monumental way. Although some people can be worth something without reproducing or passing wisdom on, having children and positively influencing the future is the sole biological purpose of the human race. Happiness can lead to a valuable life. In spite of this, your own happiness will be forgotten eventually or maybe not even remembered at all. Humans busy themselves ...
