nonfiction genre stereotypes that most people think. Erik Larson changed that stereotype and

not only tell an elaborating true story, but it tries to grab the reader to believe that they are
actually living in 1893 during the Chicago World s Fair trials and tribulations. To tell this story,

This presentation was designed for a public library as part of its outreach initiative. The community
services librarian at the Chicopee Public Library was invited to conduct presentations about public
library services for individuals participating in the After Incarceration Support System of the
Hampden County Sheriff s Department.
The After Incarceration Support Systems Program (AISS) is designed to educate, prepare and assist
the inmate population with transitioning back into the community. Key components of the program
include 1) Working with the inmate within the correctional center prior to release and 2) Working
with the offender post release in the community with an emphasis on a continuum of services. The
primary goals of AISS are: reduce recidivism, improve public safety and support the whole person
(AISS website, retrieved 7/19/15) The library presentation took place post release as part of the
community collaboration the AISS. The main feature of the program is its holistic, relational
approach to working with the offenders and the largely voluntary participation of the offenders
(Howe, M., Collins, K. Engel, L., 2006). . The staff in the women s program have remained same
since the start of the program, and staff members perform inreach to incarcerated individuals to

Ben s Autobiography begins in humility and ends in humility. He is born into a modest family
being the youngest son of the youngest son for five generations back. He finishes part two with
the modesty of an accomplished elder. However, in between it is full of arrogance and pride. During

He proceeds to his brothers place of business to show off all these things and before he leaves he
buys the journey men a round of drinks. Where
is the humility in that? His brother later said he was insulted so much in front of his workers
that he could never forgive or forget. Ben thought he was on top of the world when he came
back to visit his family. But before he knew it, his father declined to assist him and he was stuck
in England with no money and no job. That was one of the lessons he needed to learn in order to

never go out fishing or shooting (page 367). This proves the appearance of his hardworking
efficiency. He doesn t say anything about what he really wanted to do in regards to fishing and
