Living Off The Grid
There are 180,00 families in America living a sustainable lifestyle and roughly around 1.7
billion people worldwide living without depending on the grid. (Palameri 1; Perez qtd. in Wood
1). The number of Eco villages, sustainable and intentional communities are rising across the
nation as more people are discovering that they possess a strong inclination to live in the same
manner as the Amish. This phenomenon is becoming a progressively popular choice for people
from all walks of life. Not only are environmentalists and survivalists escaping the city life in efforts
to live off the grid, but single families and people who are seeking to explore a simplified lifestyle
are also joining the trend. Living off the grid is slowly becoming... Show more content on

People who decided to challenge the system in efforts to live The Good Life are providing
resources for themselves. This means inhabiting an off grid lifestyle makes one solely responsible
for supplying their energy, waste removal system and water supply system.
One resource that is essential to produce electricity is renewable energy. Providing one s own
energy consists of utilizing solar panels, wind turbines and micro hydroelectricity. Solar panels
absorb energy from the Sun to produce solar energy. A great number of people who live off the
grid use solar power. Wind turbines generate electrical power from the wind and functions in the
reverse manner as a fan does. Micro hydroelectricity is another source of energy, which
fascinatingly uses a source of running water, like a stream, to generate electricity (Dunn 3).
Between all three sources of renewable energy, micro hydroelectricity is the most efficient, reliable
and commonly used form.
Undoubtedly, the most important resource people work to provide for an off grid lifestyle is
water. One method of obtaining water is through a water catchment system. This task can be
accomplish simply through using barrels to amass rainwater or snow that is fed by the downspout
of . . . rain gutters or eaves of [a] building or a house (Black 128). Another method of obtaining

Differences in Competencies Between Adn and Bsn
Differences In Competencies between ADN and BSN NRS 430v July 14, 2013 Differences in
Competencies between ADN and BSN Over the past few decades, many drastic changes occurred
in U.S health care delivery. Our current healthcare trends demand nurses to take more active role
in the health care decisions in hospital setting, long term care setting and in community healthcare
setting. Since nursing is based upon a body of knowledge that is always changing with new

Bachelor s prepared nurses are better equipped to make clinical decision more effectively and
efficiently. Nurses have to make clinical decisions all the time to improve a client s health and to
maintain wellness. For example, it is the nurse who usually takes immediate action when a client s
clinical condition deteriorates, who decides if a client is experiencing complications that warrant
notification of the physician. A nurse must be able to think critically, solve problems and find the
best solution for client s need to assist clients in maintaining or improving their health. For
instance, if an elderly patient status post hip replacement, bed bound complains of pain in the
affected leg and swelling, an ADN prepared nurse might carry out the order for pain management
and will elevate the leg to subside swelling. On the other hand, a baccalaureate prepared nurse will
critically think about the potential complication status post hip replacement surgery and will take

Essay An Analysis Of The Jungle By Upton Sinclair
In the early 1900 s life for America s new Chicago immigrant workers in the meat packing
industry was explored by Upton Sinclair s novel The Jungle. Originally published in 1904 as a
serial piece in the socialist newspaper Appeal to Reason, Sinclair s novel was initially found too
graphic and shocking by publishing firms and therefore was not published in its complete form
until 1906. In this paper, I will focus on the challenges faced by a newly immigrated worker and
on what I feel Sinclair s purpose was for this novel. In the early 1900 s a newly arrived immigrant
worker faced numerous challenges that had to be overcome. Often times literally arriving with the
clothes on their back and a few meager dollars, it was crucial for these... Show more content on

While not all of these examples have a direct monetary impact, each of the dealings associated
with them does which in turn motivates the parties involved to make decisions and perform
actions outside the normal scope for their character. The third challenge faced by new
immigrants was acquiring and then keeping steady work. Although the Packingtown in Chicago
was in a constant state of activity, the sheer number of available workers and the rule of supply
and demand made it difficult for some to find work. It was not uncommon for some workers to
stand at the plant doors for weeks before being selected. And once a person was chosen to be a
worker, they had to labor at a fever pitch to make sure they were retained. That being said, the
worker s problems did not end once they found steady employment. Employers were harsh and
unforgiving in how they treated their employees. For example, if an employee was one minute late
they were penalized an hours pay. If they were 20 minutes late they forfeited their employment.
Worse yet, if they were injured or hurt on the job the company takes no responsibility and the
worker is forced to recuperate on their own time without pay

Sebastian Bach Accomplishments
From 1600 to 1750, Western Europe music was known as the Baroque period. The most known
composers of this era were Bach, Vivaldi and Handle. Their music and styles inspired the people
of their time and continue to do so 400 years later in the modern world. The Baroque era was
considered a time of flamboyant lifestyles; a style that filled the space. When the church began to
distance themselves from the political control of Europe, composers began to come up with more
radical styles to be used in their pieces that had not been seen before. For this reason, Baroque music
became known for its highly energetic and dramatic styles. Of course, behind this great musiccame
amazingly talented composers who made it all happen. Perhaps one of the... Show more content on

talent definitely did not go unnoticed. He was even given a diamond ring by the Crown Prince

offered him a position to conduct the court orchestra. Although Bach had to spend a month in jail

Kate Chopin s Desiree s Baby
The Formalistic Approach to Desiree s Baby
Kate Chopin s narrative of Desiree s Daughter created a sense of ambiguity among the reader until
the last few sentences
of the story. However, the Formalistic Approach to Literature helps one to review the texts and
notice countless relationships
between the detailed components and conclusion of the story. These elements draw clues and
foreshadow the events that
happen throughout the duration and climax of the narrative. Close reading will help one to depict
the devices used to help
carry the audience through the plot and suggest the resolution. Some of the most prominent devices
used by Chopin are word

That sudden change from the repetition of soft subtle
colors to a term that in its context has a more bold sound triggers the listener s ears. That phrase
stands out and resounds in
the reader s subconscious throughout the entire plot. When Madame Valmonde reached L Abri, she
shuddred at the sight of
the child as she always did. Foreshadow that the child had the most significance in the story was
evident through this as well
as the title. Furthermore, not only was Madame Valmonde puzzled by the sight of the child, so was
nurse Zandrine as she
turned her face to gaze across the fields to avoid the responsive look toward her on Madame
Valmonde s face after she
scanned the baby. The story emphasizes the fright, sadness, and bafflement among the women
concerning the child. Madame
Valmonde insists that this is not the baby and after Desiree s explanation admits that it indeed has
changed. Regardless,
Desiree is so overjoyed with the happiness of her husband and how he s changed positively
because of his new son that she
for some dissonant reason feels fearful just as well. Within a few paragraphs, Chopin expressed
tension and awe that hinted
toward how the baby would serve in the story.
One of allusions in Desiree s Baby was the idea of abandonment. Not only

My problem revolves around homeless veterans and how they are at a higher risk for suicide than
those who are not homeless. Several factors relate to the notable risk for veteran suicide including

psychiatric disorders, alcohol and drug abuse and chronic medical conditions. There is a correlation

According to Donovan, S and Shinseki, E.K. of the American Journal of Public Health, the
suggestion to combat this issue is to reenforce intervention strategies of certain government
organizations that work and to funnel federal resources to those strategies (Donovan, 2013). One of
the main factors for why people are homeless is due to the mental and physical illness and
substance abuse. Effective intervention strategies must be achieved in order to combat
homelessness and to ensure veterans are receiving aid they deserve. An example of improving
intervention would be to increase investment in effective, evidence based programs utilizing such
as the Housing First model created by the VA which helps assist veterans with access to health care,

Essay on B. F. Skinner
B. F. Skinner
Burrhus Frederic Skinner, psychologist and behaviorist, was born in Susquhanna, Pennsylvania in
1904 to William Skinner and Grace Burrhus. His father was a lawywer and his mother was a
naturally bright woman. Skinner had only one sibling; his brother died at the age of sixteen. Skinner
lived most of his life in Susquhanna. He did not leave the house he was born in until he left to go
to college. He was raised very close to his grandparents, who had a major impact on his early life.
He was also close to his parents. He and his mother and father all graduated from the same high
school. This was the same school that he had attended for all twelve years of his education.

notice of the way that people reacted to certain situations. This interest had become obvious when
he was in grade school and had continued throughout the rest of his life. Skinner worked hard for
the first time in his life at Harvard. He realized that he was far behind in his studies. For two years

In the spring of 1936 the end of Skinner s junior Fellowship was approaching and he had no job.
The best job offer that the Department of Psychology could pass along to him was from a YMCA
college. Skinner had a friend who was teaching that summer at Minnesota, and he mentioned
Skinner to R.M. Elliott, who was looking for someone to teach small sections of a big introductory
course. This was the first time that Skinner had taught anything. It was also the first time that he
had really learned college pshchology, so he had to study hard to stay ahead of his students.

The Measure of Aggression
The construct that is in question is the measure of aggression. Aggressiveness has been a popular
disposition for study because it can be closely linked to observed behavior. An aggressive behavior
has generally been defined as a behavior that is intended to injure or irritate another person (Eron,
Walder, Lefkowitz, 1971). Aggressiveness, then, is the disposition to engage frequently in
behaviors that are intended to injure or irritate another person. The one difficulty this definition
presents for measurement is the intentionality component. Whether or not an observed behavior
injures or irritates another person can usually be determined without much difficulty, but the
intention behind the behavior may be more difficult to divine,... Show more content on

Such that if the person is in a good mood they might not view themselves as negatively as well
they may not be fully aware of their actions in the past and how they truly relate to the question
being asked. Similarly more salient factors of aggression may not be observed by peers.
Overview of the Scale: The Aggression Questionnaire was developed by Buss and Perry in
1992, to replace the Hostility Inventory, consists of 29 items concerning self reports of behavior
and feelings, which are completed along a five point scale (5: very often applies to me to 1:
never or hardly applies to me ); two items are reverse scored. There are four subscales, physical
(9 items), verbal (5 items), anger (7 items), and hostility (8 items). The first two are concerned
with behavior (e.g., I have threatened people I know, and I often find myself disagreeing with
people ), and the other two with feelings (e.g., anger: I have trouble controlling my temper ;
hostility: I am sometimes eaten up with jealousy ). The questionnaire is intended for the general
public to ascertain the level of aggression and what subscales of aggression the person exhibits.
This can be used in a clinical setting and/ or as a predictor of the subject s interactions with the
public.
Item Format:
Each item was rated on a 5 point Likert type scale which was rated least characteristic to most

Employment of Illegal Immigrants
Employment of Illegal Immigrants Employment of illegal immigrants in the United States, as
well as other countries has been a highly controversial subject for many years now. There are
many people living in various countries around the world that are unhappy with the way they are
living, and want something more out of life than what their country can offer. Due to their
unhappiness, they decide to immigrate to another country, and this is usually done illegally. Once
they are in their preferred country, which a lot of the time is the United States, they are forced to
work in low skilled jobs because higher skilled jobs require people to speak fluent English and

There has been many laws and regulations passed, to try and prevent illegal migrants from
working in the United States. In all states, businesses Are required by federal law to check the
legal status of all new hires. They must fill out federal form 1 9 to show that each worker holds
federally acceptable residency documents, like a driver s license or social security card (Speizer
1). Although they must do all of those things, they are not required to check the authenticity of the
documents. In Arizona that has all changed, a new law has been passed that makes it mandatory
for all employers to participate in E Verify in which information from 1 9 documents can be
checked through databases at the Social Security Administration or the Department of Homeland
Security (Speizer 2). This used to be something businesses could voluntarily partake in, but has
now become mandatory in Arizona. Under this law they have created harsh punishments for
employers who knowingly hire undocumented migrants. One of these harsh punishments includes
the loss of the employer s business license, if it is a reoccurring issue. They hope that this new
law will decrease the amount of undocumented workers in the state and create more jobs for their
own U.S. citizens. I do not believe that employment of illegal immigrants is a problem in our
country in any way. Over half of the jobs

The Theme Of Love In Lin Manuel Miranda s Its Quiet Uptown
The theme of grief, especially in the context of losing a loved one is always a deep and
emotional topic to write about. Many writers have attempted to find the words to express how the
family of a lost loved one feels in the aftermath of such a terrible tragedy, but often they fail to fully
grasp the emotionin their writing. Lin Manuel Miranda is not one of these writers. In his song, It
s Quiet Uptown, from Hamilton, he beautifully portrays what its like trying to continue after
losing someone one has never imagined having to let go. The song describes the life of
Alexander Hamilton and his wife Eliza attempting to cope with the death of their eldest son,
Philip. The beautiful language of the song and the vivid imagery in the lyrics clearly convey the
emotions one feels after the sudden loss of a loved one and what it s like to watch people go
through such a terrible time. The beautiful music and the emotion with which it is preformed
provide an excellent medium through which to convey this message. The depth of Hamilton s
grief is wonderfully portrayed in this piece of art. The first instance of this imagery is in the first
lines. Angelica sings, There are moments that the words don t reach, There is suffering to terrible
to name, You hold your child as tight as you can, And push away the unimaginable. These lines
paint the perfect picture of what it is like to watch a loved one die, especially a child. As one sits

Deforestation In Iowa
Iowa is synonymous with farmland. The name alone evokes images of cattle and a tractor
plowing a field of corn. This is, however, a relatively new condition for the state since until its
development a couple centuries ago, Iowa was covered in prairie and woodland. The rich soil
that now enables Iowa to produce so much corn and soybeans only became rich because it grew
undisturbed for thousands of years. This gave the land time to develop a network of trees, helping
to retain minerals and bind the sediment together, creating nutrient rich, compact soil. With the
recent increase in deforestation, however, Iowa s fertility is in jeopardy. During the past five years
alone, ninety seven thousand acres, or 11%, of the state s total forests have been

Wine Purchasing And Hospitality Industry Essay
Wine Purchasing
Danielle Salopek, Frances Haas, Cat Manning
Wine Purchasing in Hospitality The Hospitality Industry is a vast field that includes everything
related to food, beverage, lodging, travel, and entertainment. All these different parts are all
focussed on one thing, and that is creating excellent guests experiences. There are many working
parts to accomplish this goal. Two parts that every single business deals with, is either the
procurement (purchasing of goods), or the supplying of goods. Alcoholic beverages, and more
specifically wine, are very important hospitality industry because of their prominence in societal
culture. People come together and share experiences over drinks in many occasions; from dates
to business dinners to special events to sporting events to even family occasions. Bonding over
a good meal and the perfect glass of wine is an age old tradition. People will go through lengths
to purchase certain brands, and vintages, at a wide variety of costs. From production, to
distribution, to retail, there are numerous steps along the way, all needing trained professionals of
various skill levels. After learning about a day in the life of a wine broker/distributor at the
Republic National Distributing Company, and speaking with co owner and wine procurement
specialist at the successful local business, North End, it s easy to see that the wine industry goes
far beyond what s in the glass in front of

Siegfried Sassoon
Suicide in the trenches
Title and Author: Suicide in the Trenches is a poem written by Siegfried Sassoon. Sassoon wrote
this poem during his First World War military service and published in his 1918 collection: Counter
Attack and Other Poems
Form and style
This poem is a lyric which contains of three stanzas each containing four lines. This is written in
rhyming couplets, the style of the poem seems very simple and song like
War is destructive of youth and innocence. There is a change in mood where the first stanza talks
about the despair when he is in the trenches. In the third stanza we move to the poet s anger about
the way that people at home feel

* The last stanza from lines nine to twelve, is a satirical view of Sassoon s greatest criticism and
determination to revenge of those smug faced crowds , in verse 9, who cheer when soldiers
march by , in verse 10. He hated those who considered to be making a profit out of the war and
those who were happy and proud their children going to serve their country: This creates a patriotic
feeling.
Moods/ Feelings * Bitter * Conscious * Anger * Rage * Antagonism * Resentment * The
dominant mood of this poem is anger but there is also a feeling of sadness and sorrow about the
young man s death.
Personal Evaluation
In my opinion war is evil and this poem gives us a good view on the reality of war and its
consequences. This poem mainly criticises on the horrors of the war, the health conditions of the
soldiers, the loneliness they had to face, patriotism of soldiers and the lack of resources that
soldiers faced in the trenches. it made me think how inhumane the world that we are a part of is,
that such horrible and indecent acts could be committed by humans. Having a young boy take such
drastic measures is beyond my understanding for the time, the year which this poem was written
but of course it must be understood because this was caused by the horrors of

Comparing and Contrasting Odysseus and Percy Jackson
Why are not all humans exactly the same? What separates humans apart from each other, aside
from their external appearance? Each individual human being is unique and extraordinary, due to
the different characteristics they possess. Granting the fact that humans having similar qualities is a
frequent occurrence, no two individuals attain identical personalities. Comparing and contrasting
the characteristics of Odysseus, the main character in The Odyssey, an Epic Poem taking place in
ancient Greek culture, and Percy Jackson, the main character in the novel The Lightning Thief,

Although Odysseus and Percy had a lot in common, one characteristic that was not evenly shared

College Athletes Should Be Paid
College athletes should be paid to play and schools need to consider compensating these athletes
for their talents based on the revenue they generate. Given the fact college sports is a big money
maker for many universities and colleges, Kenneth Cooper, author of the article, Should College
Athletes be Paid to Play ?, argues that collegeathletes should not be paid due to the fact they are
still amateurs who are representatives of the schools they attend (Cooper). Additional arguments
made by Cooper against paying the athletes, include the fact that these men and women are not just
athletes, but students first (Cooper). From my point of view, this statement would be true only if
the emphasis were realistically placed on academics. Therefore,... Show more content on

Despite devoting forty to sixty hours per week to their sport most of the year, which is more
than many full time jobs, Division I football players aren t considered employees and lack basic
economic rights under the NCAA s cartel restrictions (Johnson). The NCAA made $912.8 million
dollars last year and are now poised to top the eye popping mark of $1 billion in annual revenue
(Clotfelter). These types of figures prove that revisions must be made when it comes to paying
student athletes. To be clear, student athletes do not need salaries or monthly paychecks, even
though the NCAA runs just like any other professional sports league (Johnson). Rather than, they
should simply be allowed to live within their means like anyone else in America. For this reason,
schools can then pay what they want, and athletes should be able to sign endorsements. College
sports will always be a large revenue resource for many colleges and universities so it is without
question that these institutions should

Describe Your Happy Place
Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called
Valla Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small
town in which most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native
environment and explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the
streets with my friends and neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making
up stories about my life if I had lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun.
Being inside seemed like such a dull affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a
natural world. I feel as if these early life experiences led me to always have a special connection
with the natural environmentas it was the one true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my
happy place.
Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it
was cut off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small
dam in the bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track
that winded up and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike
tracks that a local boy had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development
crew came to town and begun marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within
weeks they were underway. They began draining the dam to make way

The concept of Altruism, according to (Smith, 1995), perhaps no issue is more central in moral

Title: Nationwide Preparation Level for Mass Casualty Incidents in Schools
Research question: Has the school system in the United States developed adequate preparedness
plans in the event of a mass casualty incident?
Problem statement: The intention of this paper is to analyze and evaluate the manner in which U.S.
school facilities deal with mass casualty incidents, with special focus on established guidelines from
the last decade and specific events.
Major Hypothesis: Efforts to prepare in the eventuality of mass casualty incidents in schools have
increased in the past decades.
Approximately 55 million children are enlisted in the U.S. educational system, split into 17,000
public school attendants and 29,000 private school members (Council on School Health, 2008).
The need for school emergency planning has been recognized for a long time, but until the last
few decades, attention fell solely on preparing for natural disasters such as fires, tornadoes, and
earthquakes. However, due to a series of heavily mediated school shootings starting with the late
1990s, efforts increased considerably to cover the need for school emergency planning and the
importance of coordinated disaster response to a school located mass casualty incident (Graham et
al, 2006).

The World Bank has provided technical assistance and direct positive impacts include: (ii) there has
been a significant drop in water connections fees, from US$250 to US$50 per household
connection, plus the adoption of a lifeline social tariff for the first 8 cubic meters of consumption
per month; (iii) the restoration of the financial equilibrium of the urban sector since 2006; and (iv)
the implementation of 160,200 new social household connections (108,000 under Ziga1), including
peri urban settlements and the installation of 711 standpipes (World Bank, 2017). Although there
are no related negative impacts due to the execution of this project, there is still a huge challenge in
delivering water to the population. One of the main issues of this is that the government is
centralized and the agency responsible for managing water infrastructure cannot delegate this
responsibility to municipalities. One way through which the World Bank could have improved this
is by instead of giving technical advice to a central entity, they trained and loaned money to
municipalities. Lending money to municipalities in rural areas would have ensured that even those
that are the most far away would have gotten access to this improvement in infrastructure. The

Police Brutality And Police Officers
The heated issue of police brutality and police officers violating civil rights has extensively
covered media headlines for several years. Hundreds of people are killed every year by police
officers, and many of these cases bring up issues of police brutality. More often than not, it is
usually a white police officer and an african american offender encounter that sparks media
attention. The shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri is just one of these cases that
has caused a major divide in the United States. Michael Brown was fatally shot by Officer
Wilson after an unfriendly encounter in the streets. Those who believe that Officer Wilson made
the right decision in shooting Michael Brown, point to the fact that the grand jury chose not to
indict him. Although Darren WIlson was not charged after the shooting of unarmed Michael
Brown, some people believe that his actions were unlawful and he should have received some
sort of punishment for his wrongdoing. Acknowledging all of the facts of the investigation,
Officer Wilson did not act properly in the circumstances of the time. Many people believe that
Officer Darren Wilson made the right decision when he fatally shot Michael Brown because he
feared for his life. In a report by Rachel Clark and Christopher Lett, CNN reporters, they describe
the incident that led to the shooting began when Wilson left the scene of a sick call and

The International Trade Agreement With Costa Rica,...
Introduction On August 2004, the United States signed the Central America Free Trade Agreement
with Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic.
CAFTA is the first free trade agreement of its kind given that it is between the United States and
smaller developing countries. The agreement encourages economic cooperation among these
nations resulting in a stronger regional integration and contributing to greater stability. Beginning
with a brief overview about the history of CAFTA, in this paper I will discuss the main issues
being debated on CAFTA and analyze the effect it will have on US industries, specifically on sugar,
textiles, and agriculture, as well as the benefits to the Central American countries involved in the
agreement. CAFTA Historically, the United States has established free trade agreements with each
of the countries in the agreement. These agreements, as well as CAFTA, are currently active. The
US government policy had originally granted these countries relative open access to US markets, as
well as protection of their own markets with the use of tariffs and other trade barriers. These were
implemented specifically to restrict US access to their markets. Then, CAFTA changed the trend by
eliminating tariffs, opening markets, reducing barriers to goods and services, and promoting
transparency through regulatory practices, while supporting environmental protections (7).
Moreover, it promotes investment between these

Women s Role For A Management Job
Mothers are held to a higher standard than fathers may when it comes to proving competence.
Therefore, a Mother who is also a manager and takes time off such as leave, leads to perceptions
that she is not well suited for a management job, According to Gill and Davidson (2001), long
hours, frequent travel and attendance at work related functions are essential for mothers who seek
advancement in managerial or professional jobs. These authors concluded that work and family
identities were incompatible in the minds of many professionals and employers. It is however
interesting to note that women and men are entitled to take time off work following childbirth
known as parental leavebut A study by (Suk, 2010) shows that women take 98 % of all unpaid
parental or maternityleave, even though this leave is available to both men and women which
reinforces the stereotype of women being the main caretaker of children, Additionally the
provisions of these schemes aim to ensure that the mother, can maintain her position in the labour
market despite taking time off to care for her child , however this is not necessarily the case as
women are prone to discrimination and stigmatization following childbirth. Parental leaveschemes
vary in their duration, and in their benefit provision, as the UK provides statutory maternity leave
of 56 weeks and provision of statutory maternity pay (SMP) which is paid for up to 39 weeks and
includes 90% of the employees average weekly earnings before tax,

tactics, new technology and weapons emerged during this time period that changed the way that the

The White Crucifixion By Marc Chagall
In 1938, Marc Chagall painted the first portrait of his crucifixion series. The White Crucifixion was
developed from his own life experiences and combined both traditional and new customs to further
showcase the interrelation between the disheveled state of humanity that has continued to exist.
This painting has stirred a lot of controversy over the years because of Chagall s sudden change in
themes. Previously, Chagall focused on creating artworks centered on Jewish representations, but
switched to depicting a Christian subject. The White Crucifixion leaves little doubt of Jesuss
identity as a Jew and further argues the interrelationship between Judaismand Christianity. To begin,
when viewers first look at the painting their eyes are drawn to the center of the image, where
Jesus hangs on the cross. A light beam pours down on Jesus from above and we can see Jesus is
depicted much differently than in many other crucifixion portrayals. Here Jesus is wearing a head
cloth instead of a crown of thorns, a loincloth rather than traditional garments, and also has a
beard. From these details, we can clearly note that Chagall is presenting Jesus as a Jew because
much of the clothing parallels Jewish ritual garments. Moreover, the people above Jesus seem to be
mourning His death, but are also wearing Jewish traditional clothing, such as the caps/shawls on
their heads. A menorah can be seen at the bottom by Christ s feet and is the only object with a halo
around it other than the

Women Athletes For Women s Sport
2.3.1 Participation
Females generally are at risk of not benefiting from sports because of a lack of participation
(Crouter, 2011). Women are deprived because of inequitable access to sports facilities and limited
opportunities to participate in sports (Bailey et al 2005). There is limited support in terms of
funding and media coverage for womens sport (Parliamentary Committee Council of Europe,
2005). Media support for men s sport is greater than for women s sport. This situation tends to
undermine women participating in sports (Duncan and Hasbrook 1988). Alongside dealing with
problems related to stereotyping, women athletes can expect less financial reward than their
male counterparts there are pay inequities (WFS 2011) and extremely unequal funding (Women s
Sports Foundation 2011). Liang (2011) argued that due to socialization, parents seek out male
coaches for their daughters because of a general belief in the superiority of male knowledge in
sports. Theberge (2000) suggests excellence in sports has been narrowly defined in terms that
generally suit male athletes and hence, the perpetuation of male authority (Watson 1993; Messner
1994). Due to the nature of socialization and stereotyping, it seems that women equally hold to
the belief that men know more about sports (Burke 2001). The notion that women face challenges
because sports is predominantly a man s world is supported by Woodward s (2008) experience of
not being welcome in the boxing gym because she was a

Critical Analysis Of Get Up Stand Up By Bob Marley
Bob Marley was born February 6, 1945 in St Ann Parish, Jamaica. Throughout his early years
Marley had lived in some of the poorest and impoverished areas in Jamaica. Even in poverty Marley
found an escape and had a passion for music. In Jamaica Bob Marley was a supporter of the People
s National Party. His major influence on the people was an extreme threat to the power of the
PNP s rival parties. December 3, 1976 there was an assassination attempt on Marley. This
assassination attempt allegedly was for political reasons. A few years later Marley was diagnosed
with cancer that had spread and he died in Miami, Florida, on May 11, 1981. The song Get Up
Stand Up was the last song Bob Marleyperformed live on stage. It was performed in September of
1980 less than a year before he died in May of 1981
The song Get Up Stand Up was released in 1973.The social context of this period has a major
impact on the choice of lyrics in this song. This song became a huge part of the human rights
movement in Jamaica. The lyrics are politically motivated and wanting change. The song talks
about the necessary actions that need to be taken to avoid the current oppression in Jamaica. One
of the more important topics of the song was the fight for everyone to have their unalienable rights
and to say that they are not just reserved for the upper class. Another point of view was the song
defending the commonly misunderstood Rastafarian religion. The three people that worked on the
song Tosh, Marley, and Wailer were all faithful advocates of the reggaeand Rastafarian movement.
Rastafari is an African religion that is still relatively new. The religion was developed in the
1930s in Jamaica after Haile Selassie was named the King of Ethiopia. The followers of this
religion believe that Selassie is God and that he will return all of the black people displaced from
slavery and colonization to Africa. Bob Marley s music and success helped spread the religion.
The Rastafarians believe that black people are the chosen people of God. Some of the religious
practices in the religion include smoking and inhaling marijuana. The purpose of the marijuana is
to increase a person s spiritual state of mind and awareness. Most Rastafarians have long

personal care, home health aide services, rehabilitation, therapies, intermission care, homemaker
services, and other services. In addition, a few states pay for long term care services received in
an assisted living residence. Unlike Medicare, with its highly restrictive conditions for payment
of nursing home or home care benefits, Medicaid generally meets the need for long term care
(for those who eligible). Medicaid pays benefits for personal and supervisory care even if skilled
care is not needed, and the program covers ongoing care needed to cope with a chronic
impairment, not just care required for a short time to facilitate recovery from an acute illness or
injury. However, there are some important limitations to Medicaid long term care benefits: (1)

The Physics of Firearms
Firearms are often featured on the news due to poor use as well as featured in popular culture s
television crime dramas, but have you stopped to ponder about where these devices came from, the
different types, the trajectory patterns that are created their bullets and how they work? The
following paragraphs are designed to address all of the following questions.
A firearm is a complex arrangement of various metals that can eject a small lead piece at high
speeds, causing maximum destruction on the target with minimum energy delivery on the shooter
themselves. (Definition of a Gun, n.d.) The mechanics of shooting any type of firearm; weather it
be a rifle, shotgun, or pistol, includes a wide variety of physics topics working together to make the
bullet hit its target including friction, force, conservation of momentum, transfer of energy, heat
engines, and projectile motion. (The Physics of Shooting a Gun, n.d.) History Of Firearms
The history of firearms begins in China in the ninth century where, huo yao, the world s first
gun powder was discovered; it was created by mixing charcoal, potassium nitrate and sulphur
into a fine powder. Historians are prone to recognizing tenth century Chinese fire lances, a spear
like weapon combining a bamboo tube containing huo yao and projectiles tied to a Chinese spear
as the first firearm. In the year 1320, Gun powder was developed into a specific formula, 15%
charcoal, 75% potassium nitrate and 10% sulphur. It was developed for the

Safe Drinking Water Act Essay
A federal law that was enacted in 1974 to protect contaminated water supplies to the public was
called the Safe Drinking Water Act. Through this law the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
is given the authority to oversee water suppliers throughout the US and set standards for the
contaminants contained in water supplies. Prior to 1974, State health departments had the principal
duty for monitoring and regulating public consuming water substances. The U.S. Public health
provider supplied oversight till 1970. At that point, EPA assumed the federal regulatory position.
Although, the public health carrier issued protection standards in 1962, simply 14 States had
followed them through 1972. The Safe Drinking WaterAct consists of an... Show more content on

However, they need encountered resistance, typically from the residents they re making an attempt
to help, who believe that if their water is legal it should be safe. Drinking water that doesn t meet a
federal health guideline won t essentially make somebody sick. several contaminants are dangerous
as long as consumed for years. and a few researchers argue that even harmful chemicals, once
consumed at very low doses over long periods, cause few risks. Others argue that the price of
removing minute concentrations of chemicals from water doesn t equal the advantages.
Communities where the drinking water has contained chemicals that are associated with health
risks include Scottsdale, Ariz.; El Paso, Tex., and Reno, Nev. Test results analyzed by The Times
show their drinking water has contained arsenic at concentrations that have been associated with
cancer. But that contamination did not violate the Safe Drinking Water Act(NY Times 2009). More
investment in infrastructure and social control of the principles are going to be necessary to
enhance water quality around the country. The report estimates that so as to considerably update
water infrastructure across the country, as well as substituting pipes containing lead, legislature
disbursement would want to extend to a minimum of $8 billion annually, up from the present $2.3
billion a year. Alternative entities have even larger estimates. The American Water

Medieval And Medieval Architecture
When regarding ancient and medieval architecture, the powerful influence of religion is very
imminent throughout the various time periods and different styles of architecture. History of
architecture is associated more with buildings driven by religion than with any other category,
because in most past civilizations, the consistent and distinguished appeal of religion made the
church or temple the most symbolic, the most stable, and the most powerful building in any city.
Throughout human history, religion has been the inspiration for magnificent works of philosophy,
literature, art, and architecture. Throughout history in ancient Europe, sacred traditions were
symbolized, expressed and preserved in places of worship and pilgrimage. Though there are many
examples that support this argument, the mortuary complex of King Zoser in ancient Egypt, the
Parthenon of ancient Greece, the Pantheon of Italy, the Hagia Sophia of the Byzantine Empire, and
the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris reign supreme in exemplifying the architectural practice driven
by the influence of religion.
In Ancient Egypt, pyramids were monumental tombs built for the kings, but more importantly, the
great pyramids were also fundamental to the religious beliefs of Egyptian culture and society. In the
ancient Egyptian culture, death of the king was not a termination of life but rather, on the contrary,
the potential of beginning of a new form of existence. The kings held an exclusive position,

Essay about Three Main Environments of Northanger Abbey
There are three main environments in which the novel, Northanger
Abbey, is set.
The initial location is Fullerton and it is from here Catherine begins her journey. This is also the
place to which Catherine returns at the end of the narrative. By the very fact that Fullerton is
located at the start and the end of Catherine s journey, it can be used as a comparison with the other
locations in the novel.
Catherine wants to leave Fullerton, as it is not exciting enough and certainly not as glamorous a
place as the second location, Bath.
Indeed, the Allens, who own the majority of the land in Fullerton, are happy to spend much of the
year socialising in Bath. Mrs Allen takes
Catherine to Bath because adventures do not befall a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On arriving in Bath, it is strange that although Bath is such a thriving town of social activity, she
fails to make new acquaintances or renew any old ones. It is here that Catherine meets Henry
Tilney and the Thorpe family.
Bath lacks the stability of Fullerton and it is this insincerity that enables Bath to be seen as a
place where it is easy to practise deceit. Bath is full of new acquaintances and thus easy to
befriend and utilise people to assist in any schemes and to fall back upon, if caught. It is here that
Isabella deceives the trusting Catherine for longer than would be possible in a close nit
environment like
Fullerton.
In contrast to Isabella, Catherine s new friend, Henry Tilney, is aware of the falseness of Bath. He
puts up with the shallow entertainment in the hope he finds a worthy friend there, as happens on
meeting Catherine. Indeed, while dancing with Catherine, he convey his amusement that many
visitors to Bath come to dislike the place, but prolong their stay only to leave when money runs out,
thus presenting a damaging fascination with Bath. He thinks that Bath has
little variety and that Catherine should be tired of it at the end of six weeks .
Bath, although a real geographical location, is an artificial environment separate from reality.
People are preoccupied with fashion and dance rather than hard work. It is a place for the wealthy,
those who aspire

Examples Of Civilization In Huckleberry Finn
Civilization. A word we use to define the proper and advanced ways of which we work and act as
human beings. A word of which Huck Finn finds too confusing and can live and do without. He
believes that civilization is too restrictive and, instead, wants to live a free and joyful life as an
individualist. To Huck, civilizationmeans the end of his freedom. In the novel, The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, Huck rejects civilization because he does not want to be told what is right or
wrong. Huck finds civilization too confining and hypocritical. Huck and Jim s lives are both
similar in the way that they have no complete control over their own lives and suffer from this lack
of freedom. Huck suffers from the tyranny and abuse from his father, Pap, while Jim... Show more

The Widow is a true example of Twain s portrayal of the hypocrisy shown in society. She forces
Huck to learn religious practices, which seem to take out all the meaning in Christian values.
Lecturing Huck on the mean practice of smoking while taking snuff is another example of the
ridiculousness in her teachings.

Unit 6 Monopolies In Industry

American History
8 December 2014
Unit 6 Paper: Monopolies in Industry In the late 1800s after the Civil War America had become one
of the leading nations in Industry many new industries were popping up across the nation leading to
heavy competition. As competition grew companies wanted to join together and help each other get
rid of competition, but there was no way that these companies could trust each other. Due to this the
trust was formed, in a trust, stock owners of many competing companies give control of their stock
to a committee, or group, of trustees. (2) These trust could then lead to monopolies which gave
control of an entire industry to one company, one company that was able to achieve a monopoly was
the Standard Oil Company. The government should break up the Standard Oil Company monopoly
because it could lead to unfair prices to the public overall. In the American economy and society
trust and monopolies play a very big role. Trusts when formed could ... Show more content on

With the Standard Oil Trust they could have priced their oil at whatever they wanted which was
unfair to the public and to any industries that needed oil. It would make oil less affordable and
would create outrage for those who need it, such as companies that would make oil based
products. Oil based products would then cost more to produce which would then raise the price
of the product along with other products that needed to be transported. Some might believe that
monopolies are a good thing because the product comes from one source and it will take longer
for that product to run out, but either way there wouldn t be as many jobs available so people
wouldn t be able to buy the product and as mentioned before the company can charge what they
want for the product. With competition companies compete for the buyer s money so they have to
come out with the lowest price

This means inhabiting an off grid lifestyle makes one solely responsible for supplying their energy, waste removal system and water supply system. One resource that is essential to produce electricity is renewable energy. Providing one s own energy consists of utilizing solar panels, wind turbines and micro hydroelectricity. Solar panels absorb energy from the Sun to produce solar energy. A great number of people who live off the grid use solar power. Wind turbines generate electrical power from the wind and functions in the reverse manner as a fan does. Micro hydroelectricity is another source of energy, which fascinatingly uses a source of running water, like a stream, to generate electricity (Dunn 3). Between all three sources of renewable energy, micro hydroelectricity is the most efficient, reliable and commonly used form. Undoubtedly, the most important resource people work to provide for an off grid lifestyle is water. One method of obtaining water is through a water catchment system. Our current healthcare trends demand nurses to take more active role in the health care decisions in hospital setting, long term care setting and in community healthcare setting. Since nursing is based upon a body of knowledge that is always changing with new discoveries and innovation Potter and Perry (2005), nursing profession is compelled to grow from being just a traditional bedside nurse. It was not uncommon for some workers to stand at the plant doors for weeks before being selected. And once a person was chosen to be a worker, they had to labor at a fever pitch to make sure they were retained. That being said, the worker s problems did not end once they found steady employment. Employers were harsh and unforgiving in how they treated their employees. For example, if an employee was one minute late they were penalized an hours pay. If they were 20 minutes late they forfeited their employment. Worse yet, if they were injured or hurt on the job the company takes no responsibility and the worker is forced to recuperate on their own time without pay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sebastian Bach Accomplishments From 1600 to 1750, Western Europe music was known as the Baroque period. The most known composers of this era were Bach, Vivaldi and Handle. Their music and styles inspired the people of their time and continue to do so 400 years later in the modern world. The Baroque era was considered a time of flamboyant lifestyles; a style that filled the space. When the church began to distance themselves from the political control of Europe, composers began to come up with more radical styles to be used in their pieces that had not been seen before. For this reason, Baroque music became known for its highly energetic and dramatic styles. Of course, behind this great musiccame amazingly talented composers who made it all happen. Aggressiveness has been a popular disposition for study because it can be closely linked to observed behavior. An aggressive behavior has generally been defined as a behavior that is intended to injure or irritate another person (Eron, Walder, Lefkowitz, 1971). Aggressiveness, then, is the disposition to engage frequently in behaviors that are intended to injure or irritate another person. • 15. The Theme Of Love In Lin Manuel Miranda s Its Quiet Uptown The theme of grief, especially in the context of losing a loved one is always a deep and emotional topic to write about. Many writers have attempted to find the words to express how the family of a lost loved one feels in the aftermath of such a terrible tragedy, but often they fail to fully grasp the emotionin their writing. Lin Manuel Miranda is not one of these writers. In his song, It s Quiet Uptown, from Hamilton, he beautifully portrays what its like trying to continue after losing someone one has never imagined having to let go. The song describes the life of Alexander Hamilton and his wife Eliza attempting to cope with the death of their eldest son, Philip. The beautiful language of the song and the vivid imagery in the lyrics clearly convey the emotions one feels after the sudden loss of a loved one and what it s like to watch people go through such a terrible time. The beautiful music and the emotion with which it is preformed provide an excellent medium through which to convey this message. The depth of Hamilton s grief is wonderfully portrayed in this piece of art. The first instance of this imagery is in the first lines. Angelica sings, There are moments that the words don t reach, There is suffering to terrible to name, You hold your child as tight as you can, And push away the unimaginable. There was a small dam in the bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development crew came to town and begun marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within weeks they were underway. They began draining the dam to make way ... Nationwide Preparation Level for Mass Casualty Incidents in Schools [Name] [School affiliation] Title: Nationwide Preparation Level for Mass Casualty Incidents in Schools Research question: Has the school system in the United States developed adequate preparedness plans in the event of a mass casualty incident? Problem statement: The intention of this paper is to analyze and evaluate the manner in which U.S. school facilities deal with mass casualty incidents, with special focus on established guidelines from the last decade and specific events. Major Hypothesis: Efforts to prepare in the eventuality of mass casualty incidents in schools have increased in the past decades. Approximately 55 million children are enlisted in the U.S. educational system, split into 17,000 public school attendants and 29,000 private school members (Council on School Health, 2008). The need for school emergency planning has been recognized for a long time, but until the last few decades, attention fell solely on preparing for natural disasters such as fires, tornadoes, and earthquakes. However, due to a series of heavily mediated school shootings starting with the late 1990s, efforts increased considerably to cover the need for school emergency planning and the importance of coordinated disaster response to a school located mass casualty incident (Graham et al, 2006). Although there are no related negative impacts due to the execution of this project, there is still a huge challenge in delivering water to the population. One of the main issues of this is that the government is centralized and the agency responsible for managing water infrastructure cannot delegate this responsibility to municipalities. One way through which the World Bank could have improved this is by instead of giving technical advice to a central entity, they trained and loaned money to municipalities. Lending money to municipalities in rural areas would have ensured that even those that are the most far away would have gotten access to this improvement in infrastructure. The Silver Medalist: ... Hundreds of people are killed every year by police officers, and many of these cases bring up issues of police brutality. The shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri is just one of these cases that has caused a major divide in the United States. Michael Brown was fatally shot by Officer Wilson after an unfriendly encounter in the streets. Those who believe that Officer Wilson made the right decision in shooting Michael Brown, point to the fact that the grand jury chose not to indict him. Although Darren WIlson was not charged after the shooting of unarmed Michael Brown, some people believe that his actions were unlawful and he should have received some sort of punishment for his wrongdoing. Acknowledging all of the facts of the investigation, Officer Wilson did not act properly in the circumstances of the time. Introduction On August 2004, the United States signed the Central America Free Trade Agreement with Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. CAFTA is the first free trade agreement of its kind given that it is between the United States and smaller developing countries. The agreement encourages economic cooperation among these nations resulting in a stronger regional integration and contributing to greater stability. Beginning with a brief overview about the history of CAFTA, in this paper I will discuss the main issues being debated on CAFTA and analyze the effect it will have on US industries, specifically on sugar, textiles, and agriculture, as well as the benefits to the Central American countries involved in the agreement. CAFTA Historically, the United States has established free trade agreements with each of the countries in the agreement. These agreements, as well as CAFTA, are currently active. The US government policy had originally granted these countries relative open access to US markets, as well as protection of their own markets with the use of tariffs and other trade barriers. These were implemented specifically to restrict US access to their markets. Then, CAFTA changed the trend by eliminating tariffs, opening markets, reducing barriers to goods and services, and promoting transparency through regulatory practices, while supporting environmental protections (7). These authors concluded that work and family identities were incompatible in the minds of many professionals and employers. It is however interesting to note that women and men are entitled to take time off work following childbirth known as parental leavebut A study by (Suk, 2010) shows that women take 98 % of all unpaid parental or maternityleave, even though this leave is available to both men and women which reinforces the stereotype of women being the main caretaker of children, Additionally the provisions of these schemes aim to ensure that the mother, can maintain her position in the labour market despite taking time off to care for her child , however this is not necessarily the case as women are prone to discrimination and stigmatization following childbirth. • 42. The White Crucifixion By Marc Chagall In 1938, Marc Chagall painted the first portrait of his crucifixion series. The White Crucifixion was developed from his own life experiences and combined both traditional and new customs to further showcase the interrelation between the disheveled state of humanity that has continued to exist. This painting has stirred a lot of controversy over the years because of Chagall s sudden change in themes. Previously, Chagall focused on creating artworks centered on Jewish representations, but switched to depicting a Christian subject. The White Crucifixion leaves little doubt of Jesuss identity as a Jew and further argues the interrelationship between Judaismand Christianity. To begin, when viewers first look at the painting their eyes are drawn to the center of the image, where Jesus hangs on the cross. A light beam pours down on Jesus from above and we can see Jesus is depicted much differently than in many other crucifixion portrayals. Here Jesus is wearing a head cloth instead of a crown of thorns, a loincloth rather than traditional garments, and also has a beard. From these details, we can clearly note that Chagall is presenting Jesus as a Jew because much of the clothing parallels Jewish ritual garments. Moreover, the people above Jesus seem to be mourning His death, but are also wearing Jewish traditional clothing, such as the caps/shawls on their heads. • 43. Women Athletes For Women s Sport 2.3.1 Participation Females generally are at risk of not benefiting from sports because of a lack of participation (Crouter, 2011). Women are deprived because of inequitable access to sports facilities and limited opportunities to participate in sports (Bailey et al 2005). There is limited support in terms of funding and media coverage for womens sport (Parliamentary Committee Council of Europe, 2005). Media support for men s sport is greater than for women s sport. This situation tends to undermine women participating in sports (Duncan and Hasbrook 1988). Alongside dealing with problems related to stereotyping, women athletes can expect less financial reward than their male counterparts there are pay inequities (WFS 2011) and extremely unequal funding (Women s Sports Foundation 2011). Liang (2011) argued that due to socialization, parents seek out male coaches for their daughters because of a general belief in the superiority of male knowledge in sports. Theberge (2000) suggests excellence in sports has been narrowly defined in terms that generally suit male athletes and hence, the perpetuation of male authority (Watson 1993; Messner 1994). Due to the nature of socialization and stereotyping, it seems that women equally hold to the belief that men know more about sports (Burke 2001). The notion that women face challenges because sports is predominantly a man s world is supported by Woodward s (2008) experience of not being welcome in the boxing gym because she was a ... Throughout his early years Marley had lived in some of the poorest and impoverished areas in Jamaica. Even in poverty Marley found an escape and had a passion for music. In Jamaica Bob Marley was a supporter of the People s National Party. His major influence on the people was an extreme threat to the power of the PNP s rival parties. December 3, 1976 there was an assassination attempt on Marley. This assassination attempt allegedly was for political reasons. A few years later Marley was diagnosed with cancer that had spread and he died in Miami, Florida, on May 11, 1981. The song Get Up Stand Up was the last song Bob Marleyperformed live on stage. It was performed in September of 1980 less than a year before he died in May of 1981 The song Get Up Stand Up was released in 1973.The social context of this period has a major impact on the choice of lyrics in this song. This song became a huge part of the human rights movement in Jamaica. The lyrics are politically motivated and wanting change. The song talks about the necessary actions that need to be taken to avoid the current oppression in Jamaica. One of the more important topics of the song was the fight for everyone to have their unalienable rights and to say that they are not just reserved for the upper class. Another point of view was the song defending the commonly misunderstood Rastafarian religion. The three people that worked on the song Tosh, Marley, and Wailer were all faithful advocates of the reggaeand Rastafarian movement. Rastafari is an African religion that is still relatively new. The religion was developed in the 1930s in Jamaica after Haile Selassie was named the King of Ethiopia. The followers of this religion believe that Selassie is God and that he will return all of the black people displaced from slavery and colonization to Africa. Bob Marley s music and success helped spread the religion. The Rastafarians believe that black people are the chosen people of God. In the area of long term care, all states are required to pay for nursing home care, and they must also pay for home healthcare for those who are nursing home eligible which are those who would need nursing home care if they did not receive home care. And although federal guidelines do not require it, an increasing number of states also pay benefits for home and community based services. These services may include personal care, home health aide services, rehabilitation, therapies, intermission care, homemaker services, and other services. In addition, a few states pay for long term care services received in an assisted living residence. Unlike Medicare, with its highly restrictive conditions for payment of nursing home or home care benefits, Medicaid generally meets the need for long term care (for those who eligible). • 48. Medieval And Medieval Architecture When regarding ancient and medieval architecture, the powerful influence of religion is very imminent throughout the various time periods and different styles of architecture. History of architecture is associated more with buildings driven by religion than with any other category, because in most past civilizations, the consistent and distinguished appeal of religion made the church or temple the most symbolic, the most stable, and the most powerful building in any city. Throughout human history, religion has been the inspiration for magnificent works of philosophy, literature, art, and architecture. Throughout history in ancient Europe, sacred traditions were symbolized, expressed and preserved in places of worship and pilgrimage. Though there are many examples that support this argument, the mortuary complex of King Zoser in ancient Egypt, the Parthenon of ancient Greece, the Pantheon of Italy, the Hagia Sophia of the Byzantine Empire, and the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris reign supreme in exemplifying the architectural practice driven by the influence of religion. In Ancient Egypt, pyramids were monumental tombs built for the kings, but more importantly, the great pyramids were also fundamental to the religious beliefs of Egyptian culture and society. A word of which Huck Finn finds too confusing and can live and do without. He believes that civilization is too restrictive and, instead, wants to live a free and joyful life as an individualist. To Huck, civilizationmeans the end of his freedom. In the novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck rejects civilization because he does not want to be told what is right or wrong. It would make oil less affordable and would create outrage for those who need it, such as companies that would make oil based products. Oil based products would then cost more to produce which would then raise the price of the product along with other products that needed to be transported. Some might believe that monopolies are a good thing because the product comes from one source and it will take longer for that product to run out, but either way there wouldn t be as many jobs available so people wouldn t be able to buy the product and as mentioned before the company can charge what they want for the product. With competition companies compete for the buyer s money so they have to come out with the lowest price ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
