Jacob s Ladder
Jacob s Ladder, a film that released in 1990 is a beautiful film directed by Bruce Joel Rubin starred
Tim Robin, Elizabeth Pena, Danny Aiello. The storyline goes where a haunted Vietnam war veteran

The Death Of The Flies By F. Scott Fitzgerald Essay
After giving birth to her new daughter, it is clear that Kevin is only becoming more violent and
hateful. Eva gets her daughter a guinea pig which she adores for a whole day before Kevin gets a hold
of it. In time, the mother realizes that Kevin put the pet down the garbage disposal in hopes to
distinguish his innocent sister s happiness. As a final blow, Kevin splashes a chemical in her eye while
they are alone and she loses her eye due to the incident. At this point, Eva tells her husband that Kevin
is causing all of the problems the family is facing, including the harm done to the daughter. To no
surprise, the husband rejects this claim and projects it back on to Eva, says that as she is the mother
she could fix it if (she) wanted to, and it is your fault for leaving the chemicals out. This rejection of
support from her husband and lack of empathy for the troubles that Eva has endured, allows their
marriage to suffer dramatically. After the incident, Eva s husband forces her to sit down with Kevin
and assure him that nothing that has happened was his fault. She has a hard time doing this because
she Eva stays quiet to her husband and tries to shelter and influence her daughter to be a perfect
woman and not get caught in the danger of Kevin again. Eva feels guilt for her daughter being brought
into such a sour life circumstance and pours everything she has into her daughter, trying to make her
life better than what she has. Mother s wanted their daughters

Tobacco Advertising And Its Influence On The World
A global hot topic that has been on debate for decades and does not appear to go silently into the night
is the influence of tobacco advertising and its influence on the populous. Recently to join the discourse
was the government of India versus the tobacco conglomerates. The Indian government hopes to
follow suit of many other nations including: France, Finland, Norway, Canada and New Zealand who
already imposed bans on cigarette advertising with successful results. The tobacco industry, however,
holds their position that by placing a ban on advertising is controlling the opinion of the masses not
allowing them to make their own decision of right and wrong. The government has the difficult task of
weighing out the ethical issues of what causes more harm in the future, to allow tobacco advertisers to
continue with business as usual or to out a halt on their advertising all together.
In a poll conducted by the World Health Organisation (WHO), tobacco accounted for over 3 million
deaths in 1990, rising to 4.023 million deaths in 1998, estimating that tobacco related deaths would
rise to 8.4 and 10 million in 2020 and 2030 respectively. (IBS Center for Management Research,
2010) As many other governments before that of India had decided was that a government needs to
intervene when the overall welfare of its people are at risk. Governments such as France declared the
ban on cigarette advertising to not be unconstitutional because it was in the best interest of its people.

How Does Sleep Affect The Brain
We know that brain is the part of our body that never sleeps. We know that when we sleep our brain is
very active. Sleep affects our daily activities. Our functional abilities, physical and our mental state
affected in many ways from our sleep. There are still many unexplored areas now science is beginning
to understand and relevant to the effects of sleep in our lives. Sleep is controlled by groups of neurons
found in the brain stem. These neurons produce chemicals, such as serotonin and norepinephrine,
which belong to the class of neurotransmitters. Whether you sleep or awake, controlled by
neurotransmitters. The same substances regulate and which parts of the brain will operate
continuously while you sleep. Another substance called adenosine

Election Day Rises And The Electoral College System
As election day rises, so does significant questions surrounding the Electoral College system. Mainly
the subject of whether or not to disband the system will again be a hot topic amongst voters and
legislatures. The question that remains in the minds of the everyday voter is if their vote actually
counts toward appointing a President when a system such as the Electoral College is in place.
Nevertheless, before forming an opinion on the matter it is important that one consider what the
Electoral College actually is and how it functions, furthermore understanding why the framers of the
Constitution thought it necessary to create this system. To properly form an opinion, avenues of critics
and supporters must both be explored. Only through this considerable amount of information gathered
can you take a stance on the topic. Rooted in Article II section I of the constitution, the electoral
college is a system put in place to delegate the Presidency. The Electors that comprise the electoral
college are 435 House of representative members 100 senators along with 3 electors appointed from
the the District of Columbia, for a total of 538. To win the the Presidency a Candidate must receive
270 votes from the electoral college, the number of electoral votes a state has varies based on
population and the representation the State has in Congress. Appointed Electors are voted into the
position by popular demand, nevertheless regardless of their states popular vote toward a particular

Nipah Virus Research Paper
For the Nipah Virus, fruit bats of the Pteropus genus have been identified as the natural reservoir. The
virus has been isolated in many bodily locations, such as the brain and spinal fluid, and from
environmental prototypes, like bat urine and partially eaten fruit, such as found in cases of Malaysia.
Antibodies of the Nipah virus have been found in the sera of fruit bats, which have been collected in
India, Indonesia, and many others such as Madagascar and Ghana. The presence of these antibodies
indicate that goats, horses, and some cats and dogs have been reported as infected, with a history of
exposure to infected pigs in Malaysia. This wide range of locations where NiV has been discovered

These reported outbreaks have a strong seasonal pattern and a limited geographical range , with a

Health, p.3). As NiV was first recognized in an outbreak of 276 cases in Malaysia and Singapore from
September 1998 to May 1999, most of the patients documented were noted to have had some contact
with infected pigs. Autopsy findings showed diffused vasculitis within the central nervous system,
including immunostaining of endothelial cells with anti Nipah virus hyper immune serum. Of the

from urine specimens collected from P. hypomelanus roost, as well as fruit partially eaten by bats in
Malaysia. Experimental injections of Pteropus bats were conducted in order to identify the existence
of the NiV virus within the mammals; however, it does not cause illness in the bats. While over fifty

Essay on Greek Mythology and Hercules
Capturing the Herculean Hero Ancient Greek and Roman mythology are polytheistic religions that
emerged in Western Europe thousands of years ago. Both cultures believe in mostly the same gods and
demigods, also known as half gods, but have different names to designate them. Perhaps the most
famous demigod known most notably for his superhuman strength is Hercules, the Roman name for
the Greek demigod Heracles. The superman like figure is even more popular in mythology than
certain gods and goddesses. Over time, artists and sculptors have attempted to depict Hercules through
different types of material and physical poses. Although each depiction has its own individuality in the
material by which it was created and the stance the demigod ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He also draws the viewer s eye to Hercules in particular by using chiaroscuro (Sporre 60) and
contrasting light and shade. The artist highlights the hero with light colors for a skin tone and
engulfing him with dark and gloomy colors. One of the most intriguing features of this piece of work
is the muscle definition in Hercules s body and Zurbaran s ability to capture the demigod in motion.
Hercules is shown as an extremely toned tall, young man with a dark beard and thick hair. By the
creases in his leg muscles, Hercules is sent in motion and it is evident that the hero is using all his
might to pull the beast towards him in order to control him. Thousands of years ago, before artists
work fell into the category and style of art that existed during their time period, art was portrayed
mostly through carved slabs or marble or stone. Art has existed since years before the Common Era
and date all the way back to prehistory. It has helped historians and scientists understand the lifestyles
in which past civilizations had followed. In Ancient Rome and Greece, for example, many artists
sculpted religious figures in accordance to their polytheistic, mythological beliefs. Almost every artist,
if not all, of these sculptures remains unknown to this day but their work lives on to inspire others.

Political Correctness in Oleanna Essay
Re read Act 2 from page 43 (JOHN and CAROL seated across the desk from each other.) to page 48
(CAROL: It s ludicrous... ?). Examine how Mamet presents political correctness in this extract and
elsewhere in the play.
Political correctness features prominently within the play. Political correctness was seen as a highly
controversial issue in the late 1980s to the early 1990s and was argued within a 1992 essay collection,
debating political correctness, that it was The most important discussion in American education . This
was perhaps due to the numerous amounts of opinions on whether or not political correctness was
right. Political correctness repressed people s abilities to freedom of speech and therefore there were
many differing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this does contrast to Mamet s view as he said about John and Carol that he thinks they re
both absolutely wrong, and they re both absolutely right . The idea of elitists always getting their own
way links to later on in the play, when John uses the expletives, bitch and cunt . It is suggested that
John is perhaps mocking Carol by using the expletives, as he is being politically incorrect. While
Carol tries to enforce political correctness, John dismisses it due to the hubris that he holds, which in
Greek Mythology, excessive arrogance was called hubris.
In the extract, it appears that John recognises the mistakes that he has made. However, he makes no
effort to change his ways, possibly due to the lack of control that he has over himself and his lack of
ability to change his ways, I don t mean to subject you to my weak sensibilities It doesn t seem to be
an apology from John, and therefore just a passing statement. This again reinforces his lack of willing,
to change. This links back to Act one, when John s use of declaratives and pronouns portrays his
confidence and control over Carol, Let s take the mysticism out of it, shall we? Carol? Don t you
think? . This lack of conforming to political correctness links to a speech that president George Bush
gave in 1991, where he spoke out against a movement which would declare certain topics off limits .
In the extract, John also comments, I find that I am sexist.

Descriptive Writing About Water Park
The Water Park Morgan, Morgan where are you? I shouted loudly. That was me in fear not knowing
where my best friend was, this is because I go on trips with my best friend every year to different
states. Somehow she got lost this time, so I will tell you about the one of weirdest experiences I have
ever had with her. Just a reminder for myself is to keep an eye on the people you came with.
My best friend Morgan and I have been best friends since baby care. We have been through thick and
thin for the past 12 years. Morgan s brother Gene has been doing baseball for a traveling team since he
was 8. Since he plays on a travel team they normally go out of state to play baseball, so they usually
will invite me to come. This time we were going to the state of Wisconsin where they have cheese as
yummy as candy, water parks like no others, and it is home to the Green Bay Packers.
We got to the hotel that we were staying at for the week while we were overloaded with excitement.
This hotel even had a water park attached to the building. When Morgan and I saw the water park our
jaws dropped. It looked like a humongous play ground full water that flowed down the slides carrying
children and families down the swishing streams that threw them into the freezing cold water at the
bottom of the slide.
We were very excited to go play at the water park, so excited that we grabbed the hotel key out of her
mother s hands and dashed to the hotel room like we were competing

Dr Mallard s Death And How Mrs. Mallard
1. My initial impression of this work was that it was going to be a story of sadness. The beginning
focuses on Brently Mallard s death and how Mrs. Mallard would deal with this. I also realized that the
narrator was an outside unknown character. This story was narrated in the third person as well.
2. The genre of this selection is fiction.
3. The exposition of the story starts with a husband and wife. The wife loved him at times but still they
were together. Her husband has gone off and was believed to apart of the railroad disaster, which was
the cause of his death. The rising action of the story is when Mrs. Mallard heard the news of her
husband death and the way she would face it. Like the story said with a paralyzed inability to accept
its significance she was not sure what to think or do. She dealt with the thought that all of the sudden
her life changed. She felt something she could not identify coming to her. The climax of the story is
when she had realized that she was free. She no longer would live for someone else but instead she
would live her life for herself. This idea brought her body a type of joy, and exhilaration she could not
describe. The falling action in the story is when the joy was beginning to affect her body too much. It
was beginning to make her ill but she went on with this joy. The denouement in the story is when the
joy killed her and then a few seconds after her husband came in. She believed that she was free from
him cause of his death

It s A 3-D Language Summary
In When It Comes To Learning For The Deaf, It s A 3 D Language (NPR, June 28, 2015), Emma
Bowman says that leaders in the deaf community are trying to create learning tools for American Sign
Language. She begins the article by introducing Melissa Malzkuhn, a director of the Motion Light Lab
at Gallaudet University. She says that in English, there are many nursery rhymes, but there are not
many in ASL (American Sign Language). She also states that she is going to develop nursery rhymes
in ASL. The reason why there are not many nursery rhymes in ASL is that English is mostly sound
based language, so it is difficult to directly translate to motion based ASL. The project is launched in
2009. By using high tech such as Motion Light Lab or ML2,

No New Worlds By Dr. Adrian Forsyth
The world is in a constant state of change, today s decisions will affect the future of all species large
and small, defining the ways in which society will continue to live. The essay No New Worlds written
by Dr. Adrian Forsyth explores ideas associated with ever changing populations and states of the
world. The essay describes the existence of humankind by their impacts on the surrounding
environments. The reader is then introduced to the implications our world faces if these problems are
not solved and additionally steps to solving these issues. Thus, both men and women need to take
action to help or pay the consequences and protect the only world we have, planet Earth.

Dr. Forsyth implements plenty of evidence as well as proven statistics to back up his outlook on these
issues. The growth of human population is happening at an exponential rate, implying that in a short
period of time population growth will double. We find it difficult to comprehend exponential growth,
but it may prove to be our fatal blind spot [3]. When analysing the world s population over a long
period of time, it took roughly 19,000 years for the world s population to go from 5million people to
500 million people in 1500 A.D. [4] With an estimated population of 7.5 billion people [5], for a
period less than 1000 years, population increased more than 1500 times its size than it was in the 1500
s. In addition, on a more minute scale of time, in 1950 the world s population was roughly 2.5 billion
people [6] in merely 50 years the world s population has tripled. With these statics, it is evident that
the world s population is increasing at an incomprehensive rate. With populations at their peak,
overconsumption is another problem this world faces, as Dr. Forsyth affirms humans consume far
more than their fair share of the Earth s natural productivity. [7] Due to this over consumption of
resources, there is a vast demand for cheap food which results in the clear cutting of large forest to
generate room for new plantations of food. When doing so, humans destroy habitats that

New Life and Laws after the War of Northern Aggression
After the War of Northern Aggression, the South was cast into chaos, as many whites were forced to
confront their previous slaves as equals. The majority of white southerners were emotionally and
economically crushed by the defeat of the Confederacy in 1865. Many of the largest and most
successful Southern cities were destroyed during the Civil War. The South remained deeply rural for
many years to come after the Civil War, developing a strong sharecropping culture that served as a
widespread solution to the vast economic turmoil. Political factions, such as the Redeemers, were a
conservative, pro business extension to the Democratic Party that pursued the removal of
carpetbaggers and scalawags throughout Reconstruction. Many laws were passed in Southern states
that alienated African Americans during Reconstruction, such as state passed voting laws. After the
Civil War, the South was faced with a variety of social, economic, and political problems. Now that
former slaves held more powers and privileges, upset whites southerners could not stomach the idea.
White supremacist groups, such as the Ku Klux Klan, organized in an effort to suppress African
Americans and also in an effort to create a Solid South in order to avoid political controversy, in
regards to their antebellum views on slavery. New political parties were formed that supported and
condoned violent activist factions that terrorized both black and white Republican leaders during
elections. The

How Did Marx View Capitalism
The next reason would be that capitalism contradicts itself due to its tendency for the rate of profit to
fall. This links in with how Marx saw capitalism as an infinite cycle of booms and busts. As capitalists
grow, in order to increase productivity, machinery is purchased to a competitive edge. These machines
are viewed as a means to a profit, not a livelihood, like their previous workers would have been. These
machines will be worn day and night, which means that the instant they are put to use, they decrease
in value and will only decrease further. As this progresses, the competition and rivalry amongst
businesses to acquire better and improved machinery. This means that the capital required to join the
capitalist ladder and set up a business

Casablanca Love And War Essay
The Duality of Love and War: an Analysis of How the Love story of Casablanca is a Metaphor
America in the Second World War Michael Curtiz s Casablanca (1942) follows Rick s internal
struggle and his eventual decisive action on whether or not to help his former lover. This story, while
seemingly innocent enough on the surface, mirrors another, much darker tale; one that takes place on a
much grander scale. This is especially evident in the final sequence of the film where Rick helps
Victor and Ilsa escape on a plane to America, before he shoots and kills Major Strasser in order to
ensure their escape. When analyzed through the formal elements of film, this sequence becomes about
much more than just a man doing whatever he has to in order to ... Show more content on

Once looked at through the formal elements of film, this film becomes about more than just the
struggle of a man and his love; it becomes a beautifully crafted metaphor for one of the darkest times
the world has seen. The narrative of the film draws a near perfect parallel between Rick and his
involvement in Victor and Ilsa s struggle and America and its involvement in the Second World War.
That parallel builds upon itself as the film progresses, strengthening itself through mise en scene and
other stylistic elements until it finally comes into fruition in the final sequence. It is in the final
sequence that the metaphor truly begins to take shape, and its meaning begins to take hold. That
meaning, rooted in the narrative and supported by other stylistic elements, is that the US needs to
involve itself in the war. That America s very presence in the fight, let alone its actions, will prove to
be decisive in the outcome of a war that is dividing the world. Nowhere in the film is this statement by
the filmmakers more evident than in the final sequence. The final sequence itself is a rallying call to
the US to fight for the very beliefs it was founded on, and to join the fight to stop the advancement of
the Nazi

Behavioral Definition Of Punishment
This paper will provide the behavioral definition of punishment and give examples of both positive
and negative punishment in different types of settings. The guidelines for the effective use of
punishment, as well as legal and ethical issues that should be considered by the Behavior Analyst
while designing a behavior intervention plan are identified. The term punishment as used in operant
conditioning refers to any change that occurs after a behavior happens that reduces the likelihood that
the behavior will follow again in the future. Punishment occurs when a response is followed
immediately by a stimulus change that decreases the future frequency of similar responses.

The mere mention of the word punishment as in the origin of the word make most people think of
causing pain when in fact negative punishment is very different from corporal punishment. Corporal
punishment is the use of physical force with the intention of causing a child to experience pain but not
injury for the purposes of correction or control of the child s behavior (Gershoff, 2002). Behavior
change strategies based on negative punishment involve taking away a desirable stimulus after a
behavior occurs.
Punishment has occurred when a response is followed immediately by a stimulus change to decrease
the future frequency of the behavior. Positive punishment aids in the decrease in the problem behavior.
Reprimand is one of the most common forms of positive punishments. A firm No or Stop delivered
immediately on the occurrence of an undesirable behavior will significantly reduce the chance of the
behavior being repeated in the future.
Verbal praise is a form of positive punishment. In a study using 2 ½ to 7 year olds praise was used to
reward compliance by the parents in the home (Owen, 2012). Parent training on elements of praise
and positive attention was conducted at the onset of the study. The setting of this study was conducted
in the home setting for handling noncompliance. The methods of punishment explored for this study
were the effects of parental praise, positive nonverbal responses, reprimand, and negative nonverbal
responses.

My Last Duchess Diction
My Last Duchess in itself is a Victorian reflection on Renaissance Italy. It explores societal schemas
which permeated both aristocratic societies extensively, such as societal entitlement and a narcissistic
and oppressive attitude. Browning takes this to a deeper level by exploring these temperaments in the
speaker; the Duke of Ferrara. This is achieved through the use of structure and syntax to provide
insight into the psyche of the speaker by insinuating and presenting the real ideology of the speaker
through the development of a societal interaction. Browning employs thematic progression lead by the
speaker delivered through a dramatic monologue, forced sentences of genuine nature, and the use of
vivid imagery and syntax to create such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One can imagine the messenger standing up and bolting towards the stairs, to warn his master of the
dark intentions of the Duke, only to be abruptly halted. This is a clear example of his controlling
nature and provides insight into the oppressive nature of the Duke. The Duke is so narcissistic and
oppressive the he feels entitled to express his darkest attributes and still maintain his social and
political status through subtle yet blunt manipulation. This is reflected in the structure of the poem
through the use of a dramatic monologue; where the Duke commands the conversion and guides it
where he wants to go, forcing his thoughts onto the audience and drawing focus only to what he
desires. This mentality of oppression is further reflected in the diction and syntax that is used; where
the Duke uses phrases to control the individual in a seemingly polite way. This view is shared by
Joshua Adler in his article Structure and Meaning in Browning s My Last Duchess .
Throughout the interview the Duke is, in effect, manipulating his guest as if he were a puppet sit
down, stand up, look at this, notice that and his manner is indicative of his whole attitude to life, for in
the main body of the monologue the same habits are revealed as in the double frame. The structure of
the poem thus corresponds perfectly to its content: just as the monologue is cramped in and the
listener held down, so had the Duke attempted to confine his wife within the bounds imposed by his
inflexible will. (Adler

Power Of Power In Richard 2
Richard II is an authoritative and greedy king of England, and he is living in a period of transition that
medieval knights who are swearing total loyalty to a king has been disappearing and an aristocracy
starts to gain a power for their own good. However, Richard II keeps believing the power of kingship,
and he also is too confident himself. He overestimates his authority and power; furthermore, he
ignores the periodical change. Therefore, he speaks confidently how firm his position as king is to the
people in Wales, but his attitude changes when he suffers a defeat by Henry Bolingbroke that he
Richard II was going to Ireland to suppress a rebellion, but he had to come back when Henry
Bolingbroke, who is exiled from England, is coming back without permission and also with a large
force to his kingdom. He immediately goes to Wales to fight with Henry. What Richard II does first
after landing from the ship is give an order to the earth: Feed not thy sovereign s foe, my gentle earth,
/ Nor with thy sweets comfort his ravenous sense; / But let thy spiders, that suck up thy venom, / And
heavy gaited toads lie in their way, / Doing annoyance to the treacherous feet (Shakespeare 3.2.12 16).
This shows the authority that Richard II has. His authority as a king is so powerful that he can give a
commend to the earth, and the earth to obey him. However, he also feels that he may lose from the
fight: ere her native king / Shall falter under foul rebellion s arms (3.2.25 26).

owns half of his parent s house, he lives in the garage, which he has made into a studio apartment. His
education level is not mentioned, although he has a job that supports him, so he must be educated to
some extent. At the beginning of the film Lars is single, though throughout the movie he enters into
two different relationships (Kimmel Gillespie 2007). Lars has many internal strengths, one of which is
how he uses his delusion as a coping mechanism to combat the stressors in his life. Although delusion
is typically seen as a mental illness , it should be viewed as the individual s ability to cope the best
way they can in extreme stress, not as a weakness. Lars had plenty of stress to cope with: his mother
passed away while giving birth to him, and years later his brother, Gus, left Lars and their father ...

Dagmar is Lar s doctor and psychologist. She offers to treat Bianca so that she can assess Lar s and
help treat his delusion. Dr. Dagmar uses a strength based approach and views Lar s delusion as a way
of him expressing his emotions in a safe way, not as an adverse illness. She explains that the delusion
is real to Lars, that he is making the decisions surrounding it, and that others around him have to
support the delusion if they want to give him a chance to recover from it. She accepts his belief in
Bianca, does not belittle him for it, and encourages the community to do the same. This is a strength
based approach in that she stays where the client is mentally and emotionally, accepts his choices and
his behavior, and believes that the he has the power learn and grow from it (Kisthardt, 2006). Dr.
Dagmar also helps Lars work through his aversion to touch, and his intense fear and anxiety

Water Fashion Essay
Water Fashion In this day and age, the metaphorical pastor of American culture no longer preaches
patience. This is due, in part, to our rapid economic development, boosting the U.S. into the fifth stage
of Rostow s model for economic development; the Age of Mass Consumption (this model entails that
a country begins in poverty, introduces varying levels of industry, becomes economically self
sufficient, and, in the final stage, outsources all industry to developing countries). The Age of Mass
Consumption is just as deadly as it sounds, incurring insatiable demand for cheap labor, and therefore
a wasteful popular mindset. And so ensues consumerism, the love child of social media and cheap
manufacturing. Consumerism bears it s own dangerous children, including but not limited to
genetically modified organisms, pesticides, Costco, smartphones, wireless Internet, Netflix, and fast
fashion. The vast majority of Americans will recognize the aforementioned phenomenon of pop
culture, except perhaps fast fashion . For those unfamiliar with this phrase, used by fashion retailers,

The Communist Party Of Nepal
It is said in 10 years, even a river changes its course. It has in Nepal, but in 65 years, shattering its old
banks.
The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), which was established in 1950, had a humble beginning. It
played no major role in toppling the 104 year Rana oligarchy in 1950. It only won four seats in the
parliament in the first ever multiparty general elections held in 1959.
It suffered a series of breakups. The CPN broke into two after King Mahendra in a royal coup
dislodged the BP Koirala government in 1960, banned political parties and imposed the party less
Panchayat system. One group supported the royal action and the other opposed it. Other breakups
followed, generating nearly a dozen CPNs.
In 1990, when the Nepali Congress Party led a people s movement to restore democracy in the wake
of the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the new wave of democracy on all shores, several of its factions
formed a front and joined the movement. The merger created a strong CPN (United Marxist Leninist).
When King Birendra restored multiparty democracy, the CPN (UML) emerged as the second largest
party in the paliament in the 1991 general election. That is when the river of the CPN seemed to cut its
banks significantly to change its course.
The 1994 general election catapulted the CPN UML to the largest party in the parliament, but sans
majority, and enabled it to form a minority government. But within 9 months, the government
collapsed, thwarting the course change.

The Health Philosophy Interview Paper
Health Philosophy Interview Paper My paternal grandmother, Lucille, has many chronic conditions,
yet we decided to focus on her diabetes for the majority of questions concerning her health and
wellness. When asked, Lucille could not remember when she was first diagnosed with diabetes, but
does remember when she switched from taking pills to taking insulin. She began taking insulin the
spring of 2009 after her doctor decided it was time to switch. She has had two incidences where her
blood sugar was so low that she could not even call out for help. Both times were in the night and
thankfully at that time her husband (my grandfather) found her and was able to get the necessary help.
After these incidences, she switched to taking her insulin in the morning instead of before bed. When
asked how her diabetes affects her health, Lucille responded saying it significantly affects her eating
habits. She has to watch what she eats and keep track of her sodium because of her diabetes and other
health conditions. Every night before bed, she eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so her blood
sugar will last through the night. When prompted about her participation in physical activity, she
referred to her outings into the community, such as her weekly trips to the grocery store. She admitted
that she sometimes needs to eat a small candy bar while shopping because she can tell she is getting
low (on her blood sugar). She admits that even going to the doctor s office for checkups

As a final blow, Kevin splashes a chemical in her eye while they are alone and she loses her eye due to the incident. At this point, Eva tells her husband that Kevin is causing all of the problems the family is facing, including the harm done to the daughter. To no surprise, the husband rejects this claim and projects it back on to Eva, says that as she is the mother she could fix it if (she) wanted to, and it is your fault for leaving the chemicals out. This rejection of support from her husband and lack of empathy for the troubles that Eva has endured, allows their marriage to suffer dramatically. After the incident, Eva s husband forces her to sit down with Kevin and assure him that nothing that has happened was his fault. She has a hard time doing this because she Eva stays quiet to her husband and tries to shelter and influence her daughter to be a perfect woman and not get caught in the danger of Kevin again. • 4. Tobacco Advertising And Its Influence On The World A global hot topic that has been on debate for decades and does not appear to go silently into the night is the influence of tobacco advertising and its influence on the populous. Recently to join the discourse was the government of India versus the tobacco conglomerates. The Indian government hopes to follow suit of many other nations including: France, Finland, Norway, Canada and New Zealand who already imposed bans on cigarette advertising with successful results. The tobacco industry, however, holds their position that by placing a ban on advertising is controlling the opinion of the masses not allowing them to make their own decision of right and wrong. The government has the difficult task of weighing out the ethical issues of what causes more harm in the future, to allow tobacco advertisers to continue with business as usual or to out a halt on their advertising all together. In a poll conducted by the World Health Organisation (WHO), tobacco accounted for over 3 million deaths in 1990, rising to 4.023 million deaths in 1998, estimating that tobacco related deaths would rise to 8.4 and 10 million in 2020 and 2030 respectively. (IBS Center for Management Research, 2010) As many other governments before that of India had decided was that a government needs to intervene when the overall welfare of its people are at risk. Governments such as France declared the ban on cigarette advertising to not be unconstitutional because it was in the best interest of its people. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both cultures believe in mostly the same gods and demigods, also known as half gods, but have different names to designate them. Perhaps the most famous demigod known most notably for his superhuman strength is Hercules, the Roman name for the Greek demigod Heracles. It is suggested that John is perhaps mocking Carol by using the expletives, as he is being politically incorrect. While Carol tries to enforce political correctness, John dismisses it due to the hubris that he holds, which in Greek Mythology, excessive arrogance was called hubris. In the extract, it appears that John recognises the mistakes that he has made. This story was narrated in the third person as well. 2. The genre of this selection is fiction. 3. The exposition of the story starts with a husband and wife. The wife loved him at times but still they were together. Her husband has gone off and was believed to apart of the railroad disaster, which was the cause of his death. The rising action of the story is when Mrs. Mallard heard the news of her husband death and the way she would face it. Like the story said with a paralyzed inability to accept its significance she was not sure what to think or do. She dealt with the thought that all of the sudden her life changed. She felt something she could not identify coming to her. The climax of the story is when she had realized that she was free. She no longer would live for someone else but instead she would live her life for herself. This idea brought her body a type of joy, and exhilaration she could not describe. The falling action in the story is when the joy was beginning to affect her body too much. It was beginning to make her ill but she went on with this joy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. Forsyth implements plenty of evidence as well as proven statistics to back up his outlook on these issues. The growth of human population is happening at an exponential rate, implying that in a short period of time population growth will double. We find it difficult to comprehend exponential growth, but it may prove to be our fatal blind spot [3]. When analysing the world s population over a long period of time, it took roughly 19,000 years for the world s population to go from 5million people to 500 million people in 1500 A.D. [4] With an estimated population of 7.5 billion people [5], for a period less than 1000 years, population increased more than 1500 times its size than it was in the 1500 s. In addition, on a more minute scale of time, in 1950 the world s population was roughly 2.5 billion people [6] in merely 50 years the world s population has tripled. With these statics, it is evident that the world s population is increasing at an incomprehensive rate. With populations at their peak, overconsumption is another problem this world faces, as Dr. Forsyth affirms humans consume far more than their fair share of the Earth s natural productivity. The majority of white southerners were emotionally and economically crushed by the defeat of the Confederacy in 1865. Many of the largest and most successful Southern cities were destroyed during the Civil War. The South remained deeply rural for many years to come after the Civil War, developing a strong sharecropping culture that served as a widespread solution to the vast economic turmoil. This story, while seemingly innocent enough on the surface, mirrors another, much darker tale; one that takes place on a much grander scale. This is especially evident in the final sequence of the film where Rick helps Victor and Ilsa escape on a plane to America, before he shoots and kills Major Strasser in order to ensure their escape. Once looked at through the formal elements of film, this film becomes about more than just the struggle of a man and his love; it becomes a beautifully crafted metaphor for one of the darkest times the world has seen. That parallel builds upon itself as the film progresses, strengthening itself through mise en scene and other stylistic elements until it finally comes into fruition in the final sequence. It is in the final sequence that the metaphor truly begins to take shape, and its meaning begins to take hold. That meaning, rooted in the narrative and supported by other stylistic elements, is that the US needs to involve itself in the war. That America s very presence in the fight, let alone its actions, will prove to be decisive in the outcome of a war that is dividing the world. The mere mention of the word punishment as in the origin of the word make most people think of causing pain when in fact negative punishment is very different from corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is the use of physical force with the intention of causing a child to experience pain but not injury for the purposes of correction or control of the child s behavior (Gershoff, 2002). Behavior change strategies based on negative punishment involve taking away a desirable stimulus after a behavior occurs. Punishment has occurred when a response is followed immediately by a stimulus change to decrease the future frequency of the behavior. Positive punishment aids in the decrease in the problem behavior. Reprimand is one of the most common forms of positive punishments. A firm No or Stop delivered immediately on the occurrence of an undesirable behavior will significantly reduce the chance of the behavior being repeated in the future. Verbal praise is a form of positive punishment. In a study using 2 ½ to 7 year olds praise was used to reward compliance by the parents in the home (Owen, 2012). It explores societal schemas which permeated both aristocratic societies extensively, such as societal entitlement and a narcissistic and oppressive attitude. Browning takes this to a deeper level by exploring these temperaments in the speaker; the Duke of Ferrara. This is achieved through the use of structure and syntax to provide insight into the psyche of the speaker by insinuating and presenting the real ideology of the speaker through the development of a societal interaction. This is reflected in the structure of the poem through the use of a dramatic monologue; where the Duke commands the conversion and guides it where he wants to go, forcing his thoughts onto the audience and drawing focus only to what he desires. This mentality of oppression is further reflected in the diction and syntax that is used; where the Duke uses phrases to control the individual in a seemingly polite way. The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), which was established in 1950, had a humble beginning. It played no major role in toppling the 104 year Rana oligarchy in 1950. It only won four seats in the parliament in the first ever multiparty general elections held in 1959. It suffered a series of breakups. The CPN broke into two after King Mahendra in a royal coup dislodged the BP Koirala government in 1960, banned political parties and imposed the party less Panchayat system. One group supported the royal action and the other opposed it. Other breakups followed, generating nearly a dozen CPNs. When asked, Lucille could not remember when she was first diagnosed with diabetes, but does remember when she switched from taking pills to taking insulin. She began taking insulin the spring of 2009 after her doctor decided it was time to switch. She has had two incidences where her blood sugar was so low that she could not even call out for help. Both times were in the night and thankfully at that time her husband (my grandfather) found her and was able to get the necessary help. After these incidences, she switched to taking her insulin in the morning instead of before bed. When asked how her diabetes affects her health, Lucille responded saying it significantly affects her eating habits. She has to watch what she eats and keep track of her sodium because of her diabetes and other health conditions. Every night before bed, she eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so her blood sugar will last through the night. When prompted about her participation in physical activity, she referred to her outings into the community, such as her weekly trips to the grocery store. She admitted that she sometimes needs to eat a small candy bar while shopping because she can tell she is getting low (on her blood sugar). She admits that even going to the doctor s office for checkups ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
