how do we decide what movies to go watch and what not to watch? What s pleasing and what s
appalling? Fortunately, we have critics who watch most of these movies and write reviews to
help narrow down what movies to and not to view. One of these critics is Robert Ebert. Robert
Ebert is an honorable critic to base judgements off of because he does an exceptional job

The Saskatchewan River watershed is a major river in Canada which flows eastward across
Saskatchewan and Manitoba into Lake Winnipeg. It is a source of water to humans and livestock
(Partners for the Saskatchewan River Basin, 2009). The watershed has a distinctive delta which is
the largest inland freshwater delta in North America. The delta begins at the west of the

of the Gardiner Dam towards the City of Saskatoon. It continues north to eventually become the

Vengeance is one of the most powerful motivators in the world. The desire for revenge drives
people to do foolish things based on what they think is justified. Virtue is another powerful
motivator, but when faced with the choice, most humans, including Prospero, would choose
vengeance. Shakespeare presents vengeance as a stronger influence than virtue in his play. The
Tempest. In Shakespeare s The Tempest, the main character, Prospero is a very vengeful man, but
he does not start out that way. His brother, Antonio, forced him out of his homeland without any
resources, leaving him stranded with his three year old daughter. An event that traumatic can
corrupt even the kindest human being. Prospero s need for justice compels him to wreck his
brother s ship and strand him on the island. He tortures the ship members with the thought of never
returning home and the idea that some of their friends and family are dead. What his brother did to

Prospero was not fueled by virtue to attack his brother s ship; he was fueled by vengeance.
Prospero did not convince Alonso that his son had died because Prospero wanted to forgive him.
He did this because he wanted Alonso to feel the pain that he had felt when he was left stranded
with his three year old daughter. Prospero wanted to be justified, and he wanted the men who had
hurt him to feel sorry for their actions. Virtue and vengeance are two of the strongest influences on
human actions, but it is clear to see, through Shakespeare s work, that vengeance is the strongest.
Without the desire for revenge, The Tempest would never have begun. Humans cannot resist the
urge to avenge
