Good Residential Plumber
Most people don t put too much thought into finding a good residential plumber until there s an actual
problem and there are disruptions in service or damaging leaks in the home. The thing about it,
according to the expert team at Flo Rite Plumbing, based in Kailua Kona, HI, is that plumbing
problems don t follow a set schedule; issues can emerge and spiral out of control any time of day. This
is why a 24 hour plumber can prove to be absolutely invaluable when things are going wrong.
When should you rely on a 24 hour plumber? This quick breakdown should clear things up:

Lubrication Theory For Journal Bearing
John Rogers Dr. Sawicki Flows in a Journal Bearing 17 June 2016 I. LUBRICATION THEORY
Lubrication is the use of viscous fluids to reduce friction and damage between solid surfaces. In
hydrodynamic lubrication, a shaft rotating in a bearing is supported by a layer or wedge of oil so the
shaft is not in contact with bearing material. The surfaces are in sliding motion relative to each other.
Lubrication theory for journal bearings describes the flow of fluids in which the fluid film lubricant
thickness is far smaller than the dimensions of the bearing. A major focus in lubrication theory is to
determine the pressure distribution in the fluid volume. In this way, the forces of the shaft being
supported by the lubricant can be measured. A purpose of analyzing crankshaft bearings is to diminish
friction and wear due to small film thicknesses [1]. The minimum film thickness of a journal bearing
should be greater than the average asperity height (unevenness, roughness) of the journal bearing
surface to prevent any surface contact, and consequently, avoid friction and wear. For journal bearing
design, the minimum safe value for film thickness is 2.5 microns [2]. Values lower than this can create
too low of supporting oil pressure and damage the journal bearing. Bearings in reciprocating
machinery operate with dynamic loads creating large journal orbits within the bearing clearance,
which is the distance between the radius of the bearing and the radius of the journal

Not Guilty By Reason Of Insanity
Not guilty by reason of insanity is defined as a verdict rendered by a jury in a criminal case that finds
that the defendant was insane at the time of committing the crime as determined by application of the
rest for insanity used in the jurisdiction compare guilty but mentally ill... (FindLaw Legal Dictionary).
This means that someone who has committed a crime cannot be tried as guilty for the crime at hand
due to the determination that the defendant is insane ; a state of mind that prevents normal perception,
behavior, or social interaction... (Google). A person who is determined not guilty by reason of insanity
(NGRI) is sent to a psychiatric hospital for the amount of time given by a judge. The criminally insane
person is given psychiatric care, whether it be prescription pills, milieu therapy or group therapy, until
he or she is believed to be suitable to enter back into society. Whether the person is safe to be back in
society or not is determined by a psychiatrist or doctor that has jurisdiction over the patient. The
question at hand is: When is a criminally insane person able to be apart of society and apart of the real
world after they are determined not guilt by reason of insanity? Criminally insane persons are a threat
to society, which is why they are hospitalized. The criminally insane must reach a certain point or
there must be a reason why they are finally determined able to be conditionally released. The first

Napoleon Bonaparte, a French leader, often thought to be quick witted, ruthless, and an expert soldier

Is Seagram A Long History Of Success From The Company And...
Definition of Project: Seagram has enjoyed a long history of success from its inception in 1924 with a
single distillery in Canada to a world wise company. During this timeframe, global recognition has
afforded Seagram the opportunity to grow to 14,000 employees as well as creatively diversify in a
manner than many companies could not imagine. Unique purchases of oil companies as well as what
some might argue to be more logical partnerships like fruit juices such as Dole Food Company, Inc.
created continued accomplishments that would shore up the company and create a secure future. In
addition calculated investments with DuPont, MCA Inc., which includes Universal Studios and them
parks as well as electric companies build an impressive portfolio for Seagram as well. We know that
highly diversified organizations are more successful, firms whose business units are highly related to
each other, such as in a focused company, are outperformed by those whose business units are
moderately unrelated to each other (Graham, 2012, p.14). Although this argument makes little sense,
Seagram has, for years, experienced the benefits of being highly diversified. With the strength of
diversification Seagram has created over its long life offers a firm foundation for future growth and
stability. The objective of this current project is to evaluate the assets and design a plan that will utilize
the strengths of the organization while shoring up new systems to realign Seagram for maximum
growth

Nuclear Bombs During The Cold War
The Cold War was a frightening time for everyone involved, with the threat of nuclear destruction
constantly looming over the lives of American and Soviet citizens alike. Since the Cold War ended in
1991, the immediate concern over nuclear war has definitely dwindled, though not vanished. More
recently, concern has risen over the few more sporadic and antagonistic countries (mostly North
Korea), that do have nuclear weapons. Where the Cold War brought constant tension, the modern
nuclear menace brings a constant uncertainty over which small power (or potentially large one) may
decide to actually use their nuclear bombs for gain or posturing. Nuclear war was without a doubt a

The Role Of Clans In Somalia
While it is obvious that Somalia has a plethora of problems that it needs to solve before it can repair
the damage it has sustained, one problem in particular is the most prohibitive to a developed Somalia.
The strangle hold on society that clans have achieved prevents any form of national identity building
or institution solidification. With citizens more enticed by being a member of a clan than being a
citizen of Somalia, any institutions created will be seen as just another way to enrich their clans. It is
imperative that clans either be eliminated completely, or integrated into government in such a way that
they sustain said government. Somalia will not be able to function as a successful state until the
problem of clans has been addressed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sugary Sweetened Beverage Tax
All across the country, health advocates are battling to put a cap on sugary sweetened beverages. One
of their biggest lines of attack is a new tax on all sugar sweetened beverages. Advocates argue that
these sugary drinks are a major contributor to health issues such as obesity and diabetes (Wood 1).
Some researchers even argue that these sugar sweetened beverages (SSB) are the single largest
contributor of increasing obesity rates in the United States, leading to public health advocates and
researchers to search for effective solutions to reduce the consumption of sugary drinks (Niederdeppe
1). These health problems are driving up health care cost. Advocates around the nation propose that
these drinks should carry a higher tax to reduce their consumption and help cover medical cost caused
by them. However, SSB companies are fighting back against the newly proposed taxes. They feel that
their products are being unfairly singled out. Other critics argue that a tax will not reduce the
consumption of the sugary beverages and will be a waste of money (Wood 2). Nevertheless, the ...

For the reason that consumers only need to carry a mobile device rather than multiple forms of paper

recent Pew Research survey, nearly 66 percent of participants believe their smartphones will replace
traditional payment options like credit cards and cash by 2020. (Gramigna, K. 2015). Therefore, a few
people do believe that they will be using their phones instead of cash. Cash may not disappear
completely, but it will not be used as much. As claimed by those that doubt cash will truly disappear,
mobile payments will never replace cash. Data from Intuit shows that 55 percent of the nation s 27

Symptoms Of Cystic Fibrosis
Overview: Cystic Fibrosis, or CF, is a genetic disease that affects children to young adults. It occurs
when a child has two defective copies of the gene that causes cystic fibrosis, one from each parent.
The disease primarily affects the digestive system and it also affects the respiratory system, mainly the
lungs bronchi and bronchioles. Cystic fibrosis affects the cells that produce mucus and digestive
juices, as it changes the protein that regulates the movement of salt in and out of cells. Which leads to
people thick and sticky mucus and digestive juices, such as pancreatic juices. Whereas people who do

Symptoms of cystic fibrosis is persistent cough that are full of mucus, shortness of breath, weight loss

where a part of the intestines folds in on itself.
Two or more of the symptoms might indicate that you have cystic fibrosis and a doctor might conduct
a sweat test, which tests for how much salt is in your sweat. If the salt levels are high enough, it might
indicate cystic fibrosis. Other tests that can determine if you have cystic fibrosis is genetic testing and
newborn screening.
There is no cure for cystic fibrosis, but medication can be provided to help ease the symptoms that

take mucus thinning drugs that help to improve lung functions, by helping you cough out the mucus.
Furthermore, a person can also take in pancreatic enzymes that help to digest food in the small

surgery that removes the part of the intestine. If the blockages in the ducts in the lungs become
resistant to medication, or antibiotics, then the person might need to have a lung transplant. Cystic

marketing strategies and how they give use of their websites. A couple of the mainstream companies
are Coca Cola and Pepsi. While some people will make a very strong case that they are very different

The Human Papillomavirus Is Transmitted Through Sexual...
Abstract
The Human Papillomavirus is transmitted through sexual contact. Specifically in males, it can lead to
cancers of the anus, penis, and pharynx. The estimated probability that a sexually active person will
get a new genital HPV infection is between 29% and 39% (Hawke). The Human Papillomavirus
infects both males and females; however, the protective benefit in heterosexual males has not yet been
explored. Therefore, this study monitored the efficacy of the HPV vaccine in heterosexual males to see
how it affected both the short term and long term health of their female partners. This study
demonstrated that heterosexual males who received the vaccination and their unvaccinated partners
showed higher anti HPV antibody titer levels, decreased HPV positivity results via PCR tests, and
decreased cancer development rates than the unvaccinated men and their unvaccinated partners. For
the Pap smears, those with both groups of men were tested and it was found that women with
unvaccinated men were more likely to have abnormal Pap smears than those who were with
vaccinated men. The initial goal of developing the HPV vaccination in 2006 was to protect women
against cervical cancer (Edgar). As the years progressed, males were encouraged to receive the
vaccination, and the results of our study reveal the dual role of vaccinating men in protecting against
certain types of anal and penile cancer, as well as serving as increased protection to their partners.

How Did The Russian Revolution Affect The Economy Between...
The economic situation of Russia from 1855 1917 undoubtedly had some influence on both the
revolutions of 1905 and 1917. Furthermore, in 1891 Russia faced a famine leaving 40,0000 dead,
followed by an economic slump in 1905. The First World War (1914 1918) had a drastic effect on
Russian economy and society, with vast amounts of money spent on munitions. Some would argue
that the economy was the main cause for both revolutions in 1905 and 1917. Nevertheless, according
to the definition of a revolution; to overthrow a government or social order, in favour of a new system
, it could not have been the economy alone, but other events such as war and society that contributed
to the Russian revolutions of 1905 and 1917.

During World War 1, Russian causalities were high and soldiers deserted in large numbers. Whilst
previous wars had got a somewhat positive backing from the public, people were desperate for this to
end whilst it also drained Russian of its resources and held over 14 million men in active service. The
Great War drove already unhappy people to revolt against the regime before the war had even
officially ended showing its severity. Some would argue here however it still shows how important the
economy was, as it was a crippling one surrounding a mass scale war that caused the people to revolt.
This also echoes another important factor in both revolutions of 1905 and 1917 in that life in Russia
including during war was a strain whilst food, fuel and raw materials remained short. Another view
considering the cause of the 1905 and 1917 revolution in Russia is rather than being due to one solid
event it is rather the general life of Russians, who revolted due to being dissatisfied. An extract from

Precisionism, and Expressionism. Among these movements existed Surrealism, a movement that
would not have come to be without the influence of the war to end all wars .
During World War 1 at the city of Nantes one would find a man named André Breton (Sandrow).
André Breton, born in 1896, is regarded as the founder of Surrealism, and the way his time was spent
during the war influenced that outcome. For instance, during his time at Nantes, he encountered a few
people that would leave a lasting impression on him. One of these people went by the name of
Apollinaire, an admired poet dramatist and the precursor to Surrealism. He pushed Breton away from
pessimism towards investigating the philosophical relationship between poetry and painting. In fact,
the word surrealism was first coined by Apollinaire in his play Les Mamelles de Tirésias (Magill 448).
André Breton served as a doctor during the war. More specifically, he worked in the Neuropsychiatric
ward. He dealt with with the shell shocked and the deranged. From the constant contact with these
soldiers who begot strange and bizarre images, a sort of fascination was ... Show more content on

Dadaism was a reflex reaction to World War 1, and like what has been mentioned earlier, the war was
an awful time. It brought despair, and Dada was means of escape. Their philosophy was one of
absurdity and meaninglessness. The artists and intellectuals involved gained satisfaction through the
shock and enragement of their audiences. André Breton joined the ranks of the Dadaists, gained
power, but eventually split away due to his different vision. Dada was too iconoclastic and focused on
negativity compared to Surrealism, which was a movement of positive

House 124 Beloved
Beloved by Toni Morrison starts off with a description of 124. Toni Morrison does an awesome job at
tricking the readers. Because when an average person thinks about the term Home they re going to
think a happy family with a pet and a beautiful yard. But in this novel that s totally opposite. It starts
off by saying 124 is spiteful, quiet and loud. From there Morrison already sets the mood for the
readers and what to think about the house 124. The house 124 is at the end of the road. In addition to
the haunted house 124 Beloved is about the after effects of a slave in a community of free slaves. That
means the notion of home becomes an achievement that is finally in reach yet still unattainable for
most of the ex slaves. The house also looks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the start of the book the very first line wsa 124 was spiteful. Full of a baby s venom. The women in
the house knew it and so did the children. From the beginning the setting the house is given a
personality that interacts with the characters very much like a baby seeking attention. In the kitchen
scene the house begins to shake violently, as if it did not want Sethe enjoying life. The it was being
mean. In the novel it is said that the ghost is a baby, when Paul D enters the house and asks if Baby
Suggs had indeed passed peacefully. But the ghost is actually the baby Beloved that Sethe killed.
Sweet Home is a plantation in Kentucky where Mr. Garner and the Schoolteacher enslaved Baby
Suggs, Halle, Sethe, Paul D and his brothers, and Sixo. Baby Suggs, Sethe, her children, and Paul D
escaped Sweet Home, they were the only ones to leave.
The setting in this part of Seethe s life is quite a contrast to when she was at Sweet Home where she
worked on a farm surrounded by corn stalks and five other men. Back at Sweet Home Sethe felt love
from her owners and was respected by the men, even though the craved for her, but satisfied their
desires with the calves. It is indeed such a huge contrast to 124 that one can feel from the setting alone

Made Up Fairytale
Hi, Be Our Guest Be A Part of Our World I know they say that every fairytale starts with Once upon a

with me. I m just the narrator. It all began last Tuesday when this guy named Ryan met a beautiful girl

intentions of returning home, and with no one in sight she propped up against a large tree stump in

she had thought to believe was a normal every day stump. Shocked and amazed at what she found

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Ppaca)
I. Overview
The purpose of this paper is to present a brief overview and timeline of the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that was signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23,
2010 and to discuss its potential impact on healthcare access, costs and quality, and insurance
companies. .
II. Healthcare Reform Timeline
The PPACA includes comprehensive reforms that will take place over the next four years. It is
intended to hold insurance companies more accountable, protect consumers, lower health care costs,
increase the quality of care and provide more health care choices and improved access for all
Americans. Some of the major provisions and their effective dates are outlined in the following
sections.
A. 2010 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
B. Improving Quality and Lowering Costs
The payment incentives provided to healthcare providers under the PPACA will most likely lead to
improved healthcare quality. In addition, reimbursement will shift from being based on quantity to
being value based which will in turn incentivize providers to provide higher quality care.
Although the Congressional Budget Office reported that the PPACA will reduce the U.S. budget
deficit, it is doubtful and remains to be seen what will actually happen. Also, it is anticipated that
businesses will pay the fines imposed by the PPACA because it will be cheaper than obtaining
insurance coverage for the employees.
C. Holding Insurance Companies Accountable
A major pro of the PPACA is that it establishes several new rules and controls for insurance
companies including requiring that they cannot deny coverage for pre existing conditions, must spend
a certain percentage of premiums collected on actual patient care costs. These new rules provide
protection for consumers and ensure insurance companies are held accountable for the care and
services provided to patients that are enrolled in their plans.
Another major issue that has raised considerable debate and even led to law suits being filed is the
constitutionality of the PPACA. Those who oppose healthcare reform argue that it is unconstitutional
for Congress to require that every person purchase health insurance. However, the PPACA improves
access to healthcare which

My Introductory On Public Administration
My Introductory to Public Administration class has taught me the range that can come with public
administration. Public administrators are employed in all levels of government, across various fields
including social welfare, financial administration, and human resources (Denhardt, 2014, p. 1).
Despite the various type of public administration jobs that exist, the one thing all public administrators
are required to do is to maintain a commitment to public service (Denhardt, 2014, p. 1). In order to
better understand how public administrators are responsive to public interests, I was assigned the task
of interviewing a professional in public administration. I chose to interview Jeanell Emond, program
manager for Central Valley Prevention Program (CVPP) and Mental Health Systems (MHS), because
of my future in social work and my interest in developing and managing programs that benefit the
community. Through the interview I was able to gain valuable insight on the agency and Mrs. Emond
s role as a public administrator. More importantly, I was able to learn how interorganizational
partnerships, financial management, ethics, and leadership and management skills in public
administration can help develop stronger communities.
MHS is a non profit organization that provides innovative and cost effective mental health and drug
and alcohol recovery services through more than 85 community based programs throughout California

However, after the people who have moved to Massachusetts there were thought challenges that were
going to be arisen for the residents and for John Winthrop. The first challenge was going to be Roger
Williams. The problem that Williams represented was that he was going against what Winthrop
believed was better for the community which was to not separate from each other. But, this did not
stop Williams, who is being described by Morgan as a charming, sweet tempered, winning man,
courageous, selfless, God intoxicated and stubborn the very soul of separatism (108). The description

1) Sleeping disorder :Most of the teens keep their smart phones nearby while sleeping to respond to
calls and texts . They feel pressurized to remain reachable around the clock. It leads to sleep
interruption and disruption. Teens also become irritable when they are sleep deprived. 2) Accidents:
Teens are more likely to respond to calls, text while driving, and riding than adults. They talk and text
on the phone without realizing that it can cost their lives. Even the U.S. Government Website for
Distracted Driving has proven that traffic crashes are the leading cause of death in teens. 3) Increases

Texting is instantly gratifying, but it also produces anxiety. The instant reply by the friend can bring
joy and elation. But in case of delayed response or no response, this same pleasure turns into
disappointment. 4) Cancer: Research shows that electromagnetic radiation emitted by mobile phones

The General Theory Of Crime Essay
Main Body As the nineties began, the general theory of crime became the most prominent
criminological theory ever proposed; furthermore, it is empirically recognized as the primary
determinant in deviant and criminal behaviors. Known also as the self control theory, the general
theory of crime can most simply be defined as the absence or lack of self control that an individual
possesses, which in turn may lead them to commit unusual and or unlawful deeds. Authored by
educator Michael R. Gottfredson and sociologist Travis Hirschi, A General Theory of Crime (1990)
essentially dumbed down every theory of crime into two words, self control. The widely accepted
book holds that low self control is the main reason that a person initiates all crimes, ranging from
murder and rape to burglary and embezzlement. Gottfredson and Hirschi also highlighted, in A
General Theory of Crime (1990), that low self control correlates with personal impulsivity. This
impulsive attitude leads individuals to become insensitive to deviant behaviors such as smoking,
drinking, illicit sex, and gambling (p. 90). The extreme simplicity, yet accuracy, of Gottfredson s and
Hirschi s general theory of crime (self control theory), make it the most empirically supported theory
of criminal conduct, as well as deviant acts. First off, there have been ample amounts of disapproval in
relation to the general theory of crime, because many scholars feel that Gottfredson and Hirschi
(1990) failed to include the

environmental quality from ambient concentrations of pollutants and other activities and processes

Mining provides a number of jobs to a large number of people along with being a great source for
government revenues. Despite its great contribution to the economy, the effects that it has on the
environment appears to be of great concern. For example rainforests are a great and important source
of wood, oxygen and medicine for everyone. Rainforests in the amazon in particular are known for its
alluvial deposits of gold that are found at river banks after major floods and river channels. In order
for miners to mine gold, hydraulic mining techniques are often used. This method involves the process
of blasting at the riverbanks that results to irreversible damage to trees and animals. Through the
process of separating the mercury and the sediment from gold yielding gravel deposits, miners who
appear to be less equipped than industrial miners sometimes may ignore the release of some of the
mercury into the river. The mercury is then likely to enter the food chain through water animals as
well as their predators. Highly compound cyanide is also used to separate gold from sediment and
rock. In spite of all precautionary measures, it sometimes escapes into the surrounding environment

toxins. Chemicals such as sulfuric acid, cyanide and methyl mercury are usually used in different

Democracy is a form of government in which people choose their representatives and hold their
leaders accountable for their policies and their conduct in office. Social media was invented in the late
1780 s but is now commonly used by people of all ages. Social media plays an important role in the
lives of human today because it is where they get their information and what plays a role in shaping
their minds. Social media has not only played an important role in shaping the minds of citizens but is
also responsible for shaping democracy. In a democracy, social is considered to have positive and
negative aspects. Some of the positive aspects of social media in a democracy include the fact that it
makes citizens aware of political, social and economic activities that happen all over the world. Social
media is also responsible for showing the truth and rough reality of life. According to CEKU,
politicians are reminded of their unfilled promises through the media at the time of elections. It also
points out the fact that the excessive coverage of the TV channels during elections helps people,

How Does Hitchcock Use Suspense In The Birds
The birds compare and contrast essay While reading/watching both du Maurier s The Birds and
Hitchcock s The Birds, they both used suspense to enhance the story/plot. However, Hitchcock s does
a better job at creating and utilizing the element of suspense using pace, timing, and continuity. Alfred
Hitchcock uses suspense by slowing the movie down so it makes the audience wait and wait until the
climax appears and gives a more dramatic feeling. For example in the scene were the number of birds
keep on increasing as Melanie Daniels innocently sits on the bench next to the school. This is
suspenseful because as she sits we see the birds rapidly increasing but she is completely clueless. Thus
in du Maurier s The Birds she does not use the slow suspense in fact she has action in the begging of
her story. For example, children flung themselves, screaming, upon him, while in the darkness the
birds rose and dived and came for him again. (Page5). This shows that she goes straight out and doesn

very detailed descriptions and each part of the story followed a sequence. For example when she
explains that Jill was being attacked and then another room was attacked and so forth. This is shown
when she writes, Nat lit the candle, but when he opened the bedroom door to cross the passage the

How Exercise And Different Body Positions Essay
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to become familiar with the electrocardiograph to help us
determine the heart electrical activity. As well as, to observe how exercise and different body
positions(conditions) can affect the activity of the heart.
Introduction
Trained professionals can look at the EKG tracing and determine if the heart is normal or if the heart
is abnormal. An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. The heart produces tiny electrical
impulses which spread through the heart muscle to make the heart contract (Kenny, 2015). There are
two different types of cells. Autorhythmic (electrical) cell begins electrical activity and triggers
contractile fiber, and contractile (myocardial) generates force to pump blood. With each heartbeat the
cardiac system starts with the pacemaker (called the SA node) that conducts electricity. The electrical
current travels from the SA node and signals the atria to contract. Then into the Antrioventucular node,
which signals the ventricles. Eventually, into a bundle of his, left and right bundle branches, and lastly
Purkinje fibers. Purkinje fibers then stimulate the contractile fibers. In addition, the EKG
(electrocardiogram) illustrates a series of waves and flat lines (isoelectric) usually seen on computer
monitors. Waves represent electrical activity through the heart and the physical events that take place
in the heart, systole (contraction occurs and blood pumps into the arteries) and diastole (blood

Shouldn t the destruction of a true American symbol be protected and preserved, as it is a symbol that

The flag is a symbol of freedom and prosperity, and of hope. It is also used to express patriotism for
example, in which solders raise the flag to symbolize an American victory in war. The American flag
is the symbol that exemplifies our nation. Justice Stevens, who disagreed with the majority s
argument, states in his dissenting opinion that: The ideas of liberty and equality have been an
irresistible force in motivating leaders like Patrick Henry, Susan B. Anthony, and Abraham Lincoln,
schoolteachers like Nathan Hale and Booker T. Washington, the Philippine Scouts who fought at
Bataan, and the soldiers who scaled the bluff at Omaha Beach. If those ideas are worth fighting for
and our history demonstrates that they are it cannot be true that the flag that uniquely symbolizes their

How Did The Vikings Affect Anglo Saxon Society
The early viking raids of the 790s did not have much of an effect on Anglo Saxon society. It was the
arrival of the Great Army in 865 which led to various economic and linguistic changes to the world of
the Anglo Saxons. Kingship was also altered, as the ancient kingdoms were transformed into the
Danelaw and the Kingdom of Wessex, later England. The extent of the Viking s influence on these
changes will be discussed, and the changes the Anglo Saxons caused to Viking settlement will also be
considered.
The invading Viking forces caused changes to Anglo Saxon kingship, including the eventual formation
of an English Kingdom. The Great Army of 865 was led by Ivarr the Boneless and Halfdan, sons of

The spread of Scandinavian settlement across the North and East of England is evidenced by place
names. Those with Scandinavian origin are spread across the Danelaw, and many are still present
today. Arguably, however, the linguistic impact of the Vikings was not transformative, as Old Norse
and Anglo Saxon were similar languages. Alternatively, this may have proved useful, as traders would
have experienced little difficulty in moving across the border between the Danelaw and the English.
The impact of the Vikings on linguistic elements of Anglo Saxon society is still questionable, as the
term Danelaw was not coined until c.1008, and there is little evidence to suggest any Scandinavian
origin. The identity of groups, which is often collectively seen through language in the modern period,
was also not transformed due to the Viking raids. Angles and Saxons, Northumbrians and Mercians,
were still identified within these groups, despite their collective English language, and Vikings who
settled south of the Danelaw were not always identified as

The Phychosocial Theory Of Erikson s Psychosocial Development
Self Analysis
Every person is a unique individual. Each of us possesses characteristics and traits that may be
influenced either by genetic, environmental factors or both. These two factors are constantly argued in
the field of psychology. In my opinion as counselor, both perspectives have its respective strengths
and weaknesses. It is important to a counselor like me, to have deeper knowledge about the different
personality theories because it allows me to know myself more and understand the people around me
especially the counselees who trust my ability.
The Psychosocial Development Theory of Erik Erikson identifies eight stages that individual has to
pass through from infancy to late adulthood stages. I remember when my sister asked me to look after
my nephew who was at 5 months old. I was afraid to carry him the moment he cried because he
looked so fragile. However, I remember what Erikson said about this stage that it is important to
establish trust to the caregiver and provide the basic needs of the infant otherwise, the mistrust will be
developed. The moment I carried my nephew and hand him a toy, he stopped crying and started to
suck the toy. From the perspective of Jean Piaget, infants have neonatal schemas or innate ability even
before they have more experience about the world. From there I understand clearly that babies have
incredible reflexes which are untold to them and that make them wonderful. As I continually observe

The Elements Of Screenwriting

Film scriptwriting, also known as screenwriting, is a unique process or technique of presenting each
detail including the visuals of the scenes or any other related elements by compiling them into a

journey towards the Rebel Alliance, the two encounter friends and foes alike, and Rey ends up
captured by Ren due to her awakened Force powers. With the help of the

The negative outlook also acknowledges the sizable level of debt maturities that Alliance Boots which
is the largest drugstore in United Kingdom faces and that its interest expense may rise as a result of
any potential refinancing of these maturities. This negative outlook shows the risk that both combined

  • 3. Lubrication Theory For Journal Bearing John Rogers Dr. Sawicki Flows in a Journal Bearing 17 June 2016 I. LUBRICATION THEORY Lubrication is the use of viscous fluids to reduce friction and damage between solid surfaces. In hydrodynamic lubrication, a shaft rotating in a bearing is supported by a layer or wedge of oil so the shaft is not in contact with bearing material. The surfaces are in sliding motion relative to each other. Lubrication theory for journal bearings describes the flow of fluids in which the fluid film lubricant thickness is far smaller than the dimensions of the bearing. A major focus in lubrication theory is to determine the pressure distribution in the fluid volume. In this way, the forces of the shaft being supported by the lubricant can be measured. A purpose of analyzing crankshaft bearings is to diminish friction and wear due to small film thicknesses [1]. The minimum film thickness of a journal bearing should be greater than the average asperity height (unevenness, roughness) of the journal bearing surface to prevent any surface contact, and consequently, avoid friction and wear. For journal bearing design, the minimum safe value for film thickness is 2.5 microns [2]. Values lower than this can create too low of supporting oil pressure and damage the journal bearing. Bearings in reciprocating machinery operate with dynamic loads creating large journal orbits within the bearing clearance, which is the distance between the radius of the bearing and the radius of the journal ... • 6. Is Seagram A Long History Of Success From The Company And... Definition of Project: Seagram has enjoyed a long history of success from its inception in 1924 with a single distillery in Canada to a world wise company. During this timeframe, global recognition has afforded Seagram the opportunity to grow to 14,000 employees as well as creatively diversify in a manner than many companies could not imagine. Unique purchases of oil companies as well as what some might argue to be more logical partnerships like fruit juices such as Dole Food Company, Inc. created continued accomplishments that would shore up the company and create a secure future. In addition calculated investments with DuPont, MCA Inc., which includes Universal Studios and them parks as well as electric companies build an impressive portfolio for Seagram as well. We know that highly diversified organizations are more successful, firms whose business units are highly related to each other, such as in a focused company, are outperformed by those whose business units are moderately unrelated to each other (Graham, 2012, p.14). Although this argument makes little sense, Seagram has, for years, experienced the benefits of being highly diversified. Specifically in males, it can lead to cancers of the anus, penis, and pharynx. The estimated probability that a sexually active person will get a new genital HPV infection is between 29% and 39% (Hawke). The Human Papillomavirus infects both males and females; however, the protective benefit in heterosexual males has not yet been explored. Therefore, this study monitored the efficacy of the HPV vaccine in heterosexual males to see how it affected both the short term and long term health of their female partners. This study demonstrated that heterosexual males who received the vaccination and their unvaccinated partners showed higher anti HPV antibody titer levels, decreased HPV positivity results via PCR tests, and decreased cancer development rates than the unvaccinated men and their unvaccinated partners. For the Pap smears, those with both groups of men were tested and it was found that women with unvaccinated men were more likely to have abnormal Pap smears than those who were with vaccinated men. The initial goal of developing the HPV vaccination in 2006 was to protect women against cervical cancer (Edgar). As the years progressed, males were encouraged to receive the vaccination, and the results of our study reveal the dual role of vaccinating men in protecting against certain types of anal and penile cancer, as well as serving as increased protection to their partners. • 23. House 124 Beloved Beloved by Toni Morrison starts off with a description of 124. Toni Morrison does an awesome job at tricking the readers. Because when an average person thinks about the term Home they re going to think a happy family with a pet and a beautiful yard. But in this novel that s totally opposite. It starts off by saying 124 is spiteful, quiet and loud. From there Morrison already sets the mood for the readers and what to think about the house 124. The house 124 is at the end of the road. In addition to the haunted house 124 Beloved is about the after effects of a slave in a community of free slaves. In the kitchen scene the house begins to shake violently, as if it did not want Sethe enjoying life. The it was being mean. In the novel it is said that the ghost is a baby, when Paul D enters the house and asks if Baby Suggs had indeed passed peacefully. But the ghost is actually the baby Beloved that Sethe killed. II. Healthcare Reform Timeline The PPACA includes comprehensive reforms that will take place over the next four years. Improving Quality and Lowering Costs The payment incentives provided to healthcare providers under the PPACA will most likely lead to improved healthcare quality. In addition, reimbursement will shift from being based on quantity to being value based which will in turn incentivize providers to provide higher quality care. Although the Congressional Budget Office reported that the PPACA will reduce the U.S. budget deficit, it is doubtful and remains to be seen what will actually happen. Also, it is anticipated that businesses will pay the fines imposed by the PPACA because it will be cheaper than obtaining insurance coverage for the employees. C. Holding Insurance Companies Accountable A major pro of the PPACA is that it establishes several new rules and controls for insurance companies including requiring that they cannot deny coverage for pre existing conditions, must spend a certain percentage of premiums collected on actual patient care costs. These new rules provide protection for consumers and ensure insurance companies are held accountable for the care and services provided to patients that are enrolled in their plans. Another major issue that has raised considerable debate and even led to law suits being filed is the constitutionality of the PPACA. Public administrators are employed in all levels of government, across various fields including social welfare, financial administration, and human resources (Denhardt, 2014, p. 1). Despite the various type of public administration jobs that exist, the one thing all public administrators are required to do is to maintain a commitment to public service (Denhardt, 2014, p. 1). In order to better understand how public administrators are responsive to public interests, I was assigned the task of interviewing a professional in public administration. I chose to interview Jeanell Emond, program manager for Central Valley Prevention Program (CVPP) and Mental Health Systems (MHS), because of my future in social work and my interest in developing and managing programs that benefit the community. • 31. The General Theory Of Crime Essay Main Body As the nineties began, the general theory of crime became the most prominent criminological theory ever proposed; furthermore, it is empirically recognized as the primary determinant in deviant and criminal behaviors. Known also as the self control theory, the general theory of crime can most simply be defined as the absence or lack of self control that an individual possesses, which in turn may lead them to commit unusual and or unlawful deeds. Authored by educator Michael R. Gottfredson and sociologist Travis Hirschi, A General Theory of Crime (1990) essentially dumbed down every theory of crime into two words, self control. The widely accepted book holds that low self control is the main reason that a person initiates all crimes, ranging from murder and rape to burglary and embezzlement. Gottfredson and Hirschi also highlighted, in A General Theory of Crime (1990), that low self control correlates with personal impulsivity. This impulsive attitude leads individuals to become insensitive to deviant behaviors such as smoking, drinking, illicit sex, and gambling (p. 90). The extreme simplicity, yet accuracy, of Gottfredson s and Hirschi s general theory of crime (self control theory), make it the most empirically supported theory of criminal conduct, as well as deviant acts. First off, there have been ample amounts of disapproval in relation to the general theory of crime, because many scholars feel that Gottfredson and Hirschi (1990) failed to include the ... How Does Hitchcock Use Suspense In The Birds The birds compare and contrast essay While reading/watching both du Maurier s The Birds and Hitchcock s The Birds, they both used suspense to enhance the story/plot. However, Hitchcock s does a better job at creating and utilizing the element of suspense using pace, timing, and continuity. Alfred Hitchcock uses suspense by slowing the movie down so it makes the audience wait and wait until the climax appears and gives a more dramatic feeling. For example in the scene were the number of birds keep on increasing as Melanie Daniels innocently sits on the bench next to the school. This is suspenseful because as she sits we see the birds rapidly increasing but she is completely clueless. Thus in du Maurier s The Birds she does not use the slow suspense in fact she has action in the begging of her story. As well as, to observe how exercise and different body positions(conditions) can affect the activity of the heart. Introduction Trained professionals can look at the EKG tracing and determine if the heart is normal or if the heart is abnormal. An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. The heart produces tiny electrical impulses which spread through the heart muscle to make the heart contract (Kenny, 2015). There are two different types of cells. Autorhythmic (electrical) cell begins electrical activity and triggers contractile fiber, and contractile (myocardial) generates force to pump blood. With each heartbeat the cardiac system starts with the pacemaker (called the SA node) that conducts electricity. The electrical current travels from the SA node and signals the atria to contract. Then into the Antrioventucular node, which signals the ventricles. Eventually, into a bundle of his, left and right bundle branches, and lastly Purkinje fibers. Purkinje fibers then stimulate the contractile fibers. In addition, the EKG (electrocardiogram) illustrates a series of waves and flat lines (isoelectric) usually seen on computer monitors. Waves represent electrical activity through the heart and the physical events that take place in the heart, systole (contraction occurs and blood pumps into the arteries) and diastole (blood ... Each of us possesses characteristics and traits that may be influenced either by genetic, environmental factors or both. These two factors are constantly argued in the field of psychology. In my opinion as counselor, both perspectives have its respective strengths and weaknesses. It is important to a counselor like me, to have deeper knowledge about the different personality theories because it allows me to know myself more and understand the people around me especially the counselees who trust my ability. The Psychosocial Development Theory of Erik Erikson identifies eight stages that individual has to pass through from infancy to late adulthood stages. I remember when my sister asked me to look after my nephew who was at 5 months old. I was afraid to carry him the moment he cried because he looked so fragile. However, I remember what Erikson said about this stage that it is important to establish trust to the caregiver and provide the basic needs of the infant otherwise, the mistrust will be developed. The moment I carried my nephew and hand him a toy, he stopped crying and started to suck the toy.
