Why Small Firms Having An Understanding Of The...
Within this essay I will be discussing the possibility of small firms having an understanding of the
characteristics of international business and not just only the large firms. This is because small
businesses are always looked down and people have a misconception that only larger firms choose
to go globally.
Every business needs to have a mission and objectives and need to know what affects them
environmentally and within their organisation. If they understand what is happening within the
organisation, they can proceed to strategy formulation and can start planning and operate.
According to the journalist of New York Times, Thomas Friedman, international businesses are a
set of interrelated processes rather than a single process and call it a flattening process . This
means that countries like China and India are able to become contributors in international business
par with the richer industrialized countries. It is a commercial transaction that crosses the borders
of more than two nations. In everyday life, imports, goods or services that are purchased abroad
and brought into a country surround us. The same can be said about exports, where countries
abroad will be using your nation s goods and services.
International business is incredibly crucial as it contains a huge and growing percentage of the
world s over all business. It is not something that can be ignored, because almost every company;
whether the size of it, is affected by international events and its

Thinking Outside The Idiot Box Analysis
Contemporary t.v. in today s society has taken up a vast amount of time in people s life. People
can spend hours in a day just watching t.v. mindlessly, however, is this time spent watching t.v.
making a person smarter? The television shows that people watch today are a primary form of
entertainment for a majority of America, along with conveying information to viewers. For years
now people have wanted dumb, simple tv, but as the culture began to develop more cognitively
people want complex and intelligent television. Contemporary t.v. is an important aspect for people
to gainknowledge and information about the world, it doesn t matter whether information comes

Similar to what Dana Stevens is taking about in finding credibility in a television like 24, Jason
Zinser looks at this question in his article, The Good, the Bad, and The Daily Show. . Zinser
addresses both the benefits and downfalls of television, but ultimately ends up taking a stand
somewhere in the middle of how t.v. is both good and bad for people. Zinser s believes that The
Daily Show can be used as a starting point from which people can gain an understanding of
current events but it s not the most useful way. He claims that this type of information people
gain from watching a comedy news show can be both useful but damaging. The question that
needs to be addressed though, is why does it matter where people are gaining their knowledge
about the world and critical events as long as they are gaining some knowledge from what they re
watching. As Zinser states, An informed public is the grease that keeps democracy running
properly. Although foreign and domestic issues aren t settled by popular vote, an informed public
wields great democratic power . It doesn t matter whether information comes from a comedy news
show or from a hard hitting formal newscast, any information that a person gains from television is
far better than receiving no information at all, because if the public is informed about the news in
the world they have an understanding of it and could possibly make decision about things

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Reactors
A nuclear reactor works by using a neutron to split an atom. The atom being split is introduced by
the fuel cell which is usually uranium, plutonium, thorium, or actinides. When this reaction takes
place it releases a large amount of energy which is harnessed in the form of steam. This process of
harnessing nuclear energy is a highly controversial topic with many pros and cons. In comparison
with fossil fuels and renewable energies, nuclear reactors are more cost efficient and produce very
little harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Nuclear Generation 4 was formed from an
international group, Generation IV International Forum, also known as GIF, with the aim at
developing a clean and efficient worldwide energy system. Nuclear Generation... Show more

There are many advancements being made to make nuclear power not only safer for use and the
environment, but also to make it more efficient. There is still a lot of work to be done to
accomplish these goals set forth by the Nuclear Generation 4 project, but the future seems to be
very promising. Only so much work can be done during a phase of research and development. It
will take global cooperation to continue to move forward and be able to conclude the research and
start a new phase of test sites. With the worldwide demand to find more efficient and sustainable
energy sources for the future, nuclear power should remain a front runner for available

Cost Reimbursement Analysis
Sometimes when the policies and procedures of the workplace are unknown or lax, the people that
take the most advantage of it are those that are truly trusted, or in a management position. Mr.
Stehm was the Chief Accounting Officer of his company, and I m sure that his position had
everything to do with the padding of his expense account. The article didn t say anything about how
he processed his reimbursements, or rather approved them, but I d say no one looked closely at
what he submitted, they were just paid. I ve read different articles that state that it usually takes
about 24 months to figure out that someone is committing fraudby padding their expense account.
These same articles also say that this is an age old issue, and is more... Show more content on

Normally, from a business standpoint it s wrong; but ironically from the employees standpoint,
they usually feel that they deserve it, or they ve earned it, so it s not actually fraudulent. A big
flaw in dealing with expense reimbursement is that careless, or lax, processing is usually at the
root of reimbursing false expense claims. The reports are just shuffled through and sent in for
payment (there were even stories of complicity between employees and the reimbursement clerk
who received a fair share). This is one area where repeated ethics and fraud trainings for
employees might prove beneficial. Procedures that I might recommend to the Board to reduce
the possibility of reoccurrence would be, to have stricter supervision and detailed auditing of
expense reports, which would include original receipts, before reimbursement is made. If the
expense report is from a Manager, it should be required to go through at least two others for
approval. In addition, internal control systems and strict policies must be established and
enforced. A corporate expense account, or Agency credit card, should come with some type of
letter of intent as to how the account is to be used and the ramifications one will face if it is not
used in the manner intended. The letter should clearly state what items are considered to be
reimbursable as work related: gas, travel, supplies etc. The employee would be expected to sign the
letter of intent that states they understand the proper use of the account. Then, if the employee pads
the account, they are knowingly asking for reimbursement for items that are not work related, and
the employer has the documentation needed to deal with the employee as they see

They remain with their own differences, lacking of communication and information exchange.
However, such work method started to lose its power when the company began to face the
increasing competition and encounter new needs brought by the economic downturn in 2001.
Bombardier Aerospace met its first revolution phase and they were then forced to look back on
their technology base, restructure and develop a new strategy for the company s further
development. The solution provided by Greiner is to find a strong manager who can swiftly pull
the organization together. In this case, Bombardier Aerospace differs from the companies Greiner
described. To find such a manager was easier for the former. First, Bombardier Aerospace, as part
of Bombardier Inc, is not completely a newly established organization. Qualified managers can be
transferred and distributed from the main company to other segments. Secondly, the four
manufacturers under Bombardier Aerospace also have their own experienced managers who
existed a long time before the acquisition. What is in fact difficult is the task itself. In stead of
employees, Bombardier Aerospace has to put the subsidiary manufactories together. It is the crucial
time for Bombardier Aerospace to make the right decision. The chosen manager has to demonstrate
a systemic understanding of the entire organization well enough to be able to bring it together
effectively. For sure, the technology architecture and

Howard Roark And Egoism
Thematical diversity of the Howard Roark s architectural style expresses his world view. Self
sufficiency of man s spirit (608), genius and independency of one s self are ideals forming the
basis for his views. Such views have always been strived after by each person because they are
admirable and right. But on no account, on average, can they be associated with egoism. So why
does Howard Roark call them egoism? Egoism as an ethical category has an extensive contextual
interpretation. Definition of the term provides a fertile ground for a distortion of its meaning. The
custodian of the masses moral health engrains false rendering reshaping convictions of the
majority. Results are visible in Waidler s exclamation and Howard Roark s response... Show more

The trusted medium, Roark, has natural rights to praise his idea, as he is one of the men who took
first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision (679). The essence of Roark
s views is independence of man s ego and mind free from the conformity. It is the key not only to
mental harmony but also to further development of society, as the moving force is the creative
faculty which is not selfless... self motivated, self generated (680). While the main criterion of
egoism is personal worth, mental capabilities, society will be sorted out from imitators who
copied imitations (46). The idea will be followed by the brainpower in varying degrees. Results
will vary from the appearance of the beginnings of the self respect to the forming of self sufficient
man s spirit. While it will be turned into reality in the absolute form among the creative minority ,
far calmer forms will appear among the mediocre people. Definitely, qualitative changes are on the

Endgame Play Essay
On April 25th, I spent my Tuesday evening watching the production, Endgame, which is located
in the Mason Hall of vertical building at 17 Lexington Avenue. Honestly, I was looking forward
to this production because I ve never seen a play at the Baruch s vertical campus theater. I was
also curious for the plotline of Endgame because I remember that Eric Krebs mentioned that this
play was going to be very difficult to understand as it is meant for adults. After observing Endgame
for about 75 minutes, I can undoubtingly conclude that it was one of the most confusing, but
brilliant theatrical productions I ve ever watched. Endgame by Samuel Beckett focuses on the life
of the two protagonist Hamm and Clov who live with both of Hamm s parents after an apocalyptic
disaster. Throughout the play, Hamm continuously orders Clov, who is his servant, to follow
routines such as opening the curtains, checking out of the window with a telescope, or moving
Hamm s wheelchair to the middle of the room. It was, honestly, very difficult for me to... Show

Clov and Hamm would perform the same unfinished routines each day as if there is nothing
much left to do as their endings are approaching. It is a way to show the audience, especially the
older people, that death is going to occur, but it is still a scary thing to face. Isolation is another
main point in the Endgame. The two protagonists have shown that even though there is constant
bickering, they both needed each other. They are afraid of being alone, which is a common
struggle many people deal with in life. I believe Krebs was correct because this was play that
older people can definitely relate to. There was not any particular scene that spoke out to me
because the entire play was indeed splendid. For the most part, the meaning behind the story was
amazing and

A Career In Civic Engagement
After high school I struggled through numerous retail jobs. As fate would have it however, my wife
would introduce me to someone who worked with the Chicago Public Library. I was able to land a
job as a CyberNavigator, assisting patrons with technological issues and promoting digital literacy.
During my time as a CyberNavigator, I worked in numerous underprivileged communities where I
spent most of my time helping patrons find jobs online or applying for financial assistance through
the government websites. Connecting with numerous organizations in the community, I established
my libraryas a center in the community where patrons could actively come to find assistance on a
number of digital literacy issues. I finally felt a sense of pride in my work and it prepared me for

Comparing Enrique s Journey And The Little Prince
Throughout both Enrique s Journey by Sonia Nazario and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint
ExupГ©ry, each protagonist is driven to go on a long, strenuous adventure. Enrique, a young boy
from Honduras, attempts to leave his home country and make it across the Mexican American
border. The Little Prince tells the story of his travels to a stranded aviator in the desert after falling
to planet Earth. While each story may seem very different on a surface level, structurally they are
very much the same. Both Enrique and The Little Princefollow the hero s journey, a common
narrative structure defined by the use of The Hero archetype and many steps that define where their
path takes them. This path is not entirely external, though. While the two... Show more content on

In their absence, these mothers become larger than life. Although the women struggle to pay rent
and eat in the United States, in the imaginations of their children back home they become

He has grown to believe he is worthless and cannot be loved because his mother left when he was
so young and did not return, while she had left specifically to support him and the rest of her
family. By viewing his mother as a light in the darkness and making her presence his incentive, he
is attempting to fill the gap in his pillar of needs. This can become dangerous though, as any
romanticization can. On page 49, Nazario writes:
Children like Enrique dream of finding their mothers and living happily ever after. For weeks,
perhaps months, these children and their mothers cling to romanticized notions of how they should
feel toward each other. Then reality intrudes. The children show resentment because they were left
behind. They remember broken promises to return and accuse their mothers of lying. They
complain that their mothers work too hard to give them the attention they have been missing. In
extreme cases, they find love and esteem elsewhere, by getting pregnant, marrying early or joining

Writin Writing As A Writer
If you were to type in writing is... into a search bar, the first suggestion that would pop up would
be writing is hard. In many ways it can be, writing is an outlet to put all your personal thoughts
and experiences onto a paper for all to see and criticize is nerve racking. For any person writing
can be a struggle to piece together their thoughts into coherency, but it is all part of the bigger
process. Writingcan help you convey what you truly believe and let your creativity run free
through putting a part of yourself into your work. It is a way to let out any powerful emotions
about something that is happening in your life in a healthy, almost therapeutic way. This idea of
revealing your true self for your work can be seen in Leon Uris s quote that states, You can lie to
your wife or your boss but you cannot lie to your typewriter sooner or later you must reveal your
true self in your pages. The author uses the typewriter as a metaphor for an object you can confide
in and not lie to much like a diary.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Another quote that connects to the struggle of conveying one s innermost thoughts onto paper is
said by Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway s quote proclaims I write with my blood, which means
the author wrote the work with their entire heart and mind to convey their thoughts into words.
Blood is such an integral, vital part of one s body, in turn when an author writes it contains a part
of them in that work. This gives an effect of it being alive, even if the author itself is no longer
living and breathing. The significance of writing with your blood gives the work more meaning

Analysis Of Usaid s Enterprise Transition Plan Essay
The components of IT products, services, tools, and partner organizations assist business processes
as an Agency wide solution to manage USAID s global portfolio. The operational strategy includes
upgrading and reinforcing existing business and IT capabilities through a development information
system (DIS). Included in USAID s Internet Technology Strategic Plan 2016 2020, is an enterprise
transition roadmap (ERT) that enhances capabilities needed in security, enterprise information
management, cloud and infrastructure, application modernization, mobility, and points to the
projects necessary for building these capabilities (p. 20). Additional activities focus on the
interdependency of IT systems to enhance human capital and talent management by streamlining
workflows to achieve Agency goals. The strategy to align information plans in Figure 2 below
illustrates USAID s interdependency strategy. Figure 2: Alignment of Implementation Plans The
enterprise transition plan provides a competitive advantage that maximizes the latest IT
technologies from partnering organizations, suppliers, human capital investments, and government

Genetic Research And Its Effects On The Human Bodies
Abstract This study helps us to understand what we need to know about companies owning
specific portions of DNA sequences that exist in our own human bodies. The basis of genetic
research and the idea of owning a gene were brought to light over 150 years ago when the
Supreme Court ruled that you could not own human nature, but over time the advancement of
scientific research and technology made genetic research and its findings more accessible.
Genetic researchers were able to find genes that can help cure disease and could identify
cancerous genes in humans. With companies being able to find these genes, they wanted to have
chance to make money off of them; from tests for being applicable to cancer, disease, or any
other medical problem. This became an issue because of how there are only few companies that
you can go through for the test of that specific gene; they are a monopoly. Since the late 1990 s,
people have begun to protest the right to own a gene in a human body and are wanting the
companies to forfeit their rights of the ownership. This creates tensions because of the abundant
amount of money associated with the gene. This makes the company come off as a negative aspect
toward the next step in scientific discoveries. This study concludes that it is in the best interest of
humans to make companies that own genes go to the Supreme Court in order to fight to protect
ourselves against genetic monopolies, and to further develop scientific and technological

The History Of School Uniforms
countries. Consequently, clothing reform, which was advocated by reformers in 1898, was
gradually accepted by the public and took its trend in militarization. As described by Antonia
Finnane, the militarization of public costumes as a notion of enhancing China s military power
infiltrated the nation:
In place of the long robe, male students began to don trousers and jacket,...Straw boaters or military
peaked caps replaced the traditional round cap. School uniforms were often modeled directly on
military uniforms, as was the case in Japan, and commercial suppliers of military uniform touted for
custom among students.
Furthermore, after the revolution, clothing reform took on the trend of simplification, which
stemmed from the idea of militarization. Embroideries and trimmings were replaced by plain shirts,
and bright colors on garments, especially student garbs, and were reduced to black, grey or white. A
new clothing style called Wenmingxinzhuang (civilized new clothes) was popularized among
female students. The plain blue or white shirt with wide sleeves and black skirt became the
standard uniform in many schools throughout the country. Aside from the idea of raiment s
militarization, such simplification echoed 1898 reformers idea that traditional Chinese garments
were overly complex.
Conclusion
From the time it was proposed in the late nineteenth century to its implementation in the twentieth
century, clothing reform was endowed with different meanings and potential

The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad Essay
The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
Marlow, an ordinary sailor with idealistic dreams, goes on a dark yet fascinating journey as a
newly hired riverboat captain, traveling up the Congo River, seeking out the legendary chief of the
Belgium trading company. When describing typical sites and events situated in the Congo, Joseph
Conrad wrote The Heart of Darkness in a first person s view, with Marlow as the highlight
character. As he writes on about Marlow s experiences, he portrays typical issues set in the time
period of the late 1800 s, such as slavery, trading and imperialism. He emphasizes these events
using pensive, pessimistic phrases throughout Marlow s train of thoughts. As Marlow travels up the

Marlow meets a diverse number of people and is very skeptical around them, judging them
quickly upon their speech. The readers see Marlow as a very independent and strong minded
individual, seeing through his eyes during an interesting yet dark period of our time. Another
main character was Kurtz, the chief of the company, who had made to be Marlow s main
purpose of his travels. For three quarters of the book, he has remained to be known as the man
with many talents, and a striving chief who has accomplished riches. Marlow had to journey to
the far station where he is located, just to have a meeting with this man, since he had joined the
company. Stories were told of him and his obsession of his trading for ivory. Some foreign
employees of the company looked up to him, admiring his accomplishments, while the locals who
were forced on working in the company despised him for causing such suffering among them.
Only for the last 20 pages, he has finally made an appearance, shortly before his unfortunate death.

Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography
Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of
time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they were when first composed.
Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time and place and appeal to the core of
human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s
9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence
is La Vie En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch
singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing life through rose
colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for a world
turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think
the song would be at all successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and
Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into
several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different
genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin while Piaf was
drinking with her friend Marianne Michel at a cafГѓ on the Champs Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118).
Also, besides over 50 artists interpreting and recording the work, it was recently made into a stage

Moreover, the expensive start up costs are another barrier for new competitors. Finally, the high
annual profit of Woolworths is hard for others to enter the retail and grocery industry in Australia.

The Australian retail and grocery industry has a high level of concentration ratio because the

Coles (Beaumont, 2004). It means Woolworths have a high concentration of market share in the
Australian retail and grocery industry. In addition, the intensity of those strong competitors is

effective strategy such as low price, selling fresh food, and 24 hour delivery service, Woolworths
Ltd and its subsidiaries such as Safeway, Dicksmith and so on are continuously competing with
other rivals for a strong position in the industry (Porter, 1979).

Essay On High Grades In High School
As I made the walk into my first hour, geometry, my first day of high school; I thought to myself
I would never pass this class, I am a freshman in a sophomore class and I have not been taught any
of this before. Nervous and scared about the rest of the day and how hard my classes would be, I
looked forward to a year of low grades and failed assignments. However, this was not the case, high
schoolclasses were much different then what I had thought. Many teachers were easy on students,
gave less homeworkthan I had expected and were lenient on the homework assignments. Much
different than what I had expected, I have flown through high school with ease and superior
grades. On the other hand, as I begin to take college courses, I have learned that those grades in
High School were much easier to obtain and were of less value. High Schools have made it easier
to get higher grades, and that in turn, will affect my grades in college.
It can be seen strongly at my High School, Oologah High, that students have gotten lazier and
parents still expect teachers to hand out better grades. When enrolling and selecting classes;
students have the option to select easier, less demanding classes, yet are still rewarded with high
grades. Now, instead of taking classes that reward hard work and prepare students for the future,
they are able to pass easy classes and receive better scores. Those students who take more rigorous

Free Choice In Macbeth
The lives of every single person are directly correlated to all of the choices they have made be it
big or small. In the play Macbeth , the fates of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were largely caused
by the decisions which they had made earlier in the story. Furthermore, the choices of Mahatma
Gandhi had led him to his position as a leader of a people fighting for their independence.
Moreover, in the stories of the founders of the monster company Apple, their various decisions led
them to their triumph today. The play Macbeth by William Shakespeare largely toys with the
opposing notions of predestination and free choice. However, there seems to be some correlation
between the choices which Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have made and the consequences which
they were forced to face. One of the most pivotal decisions made was the one to believe the witches.

to the Indians and other colored races. When he was 17, a priest recommended that he go to

in London where he studied law to become a barrister. This decision to go across the sea to

him from his homeland and offering him a new perspective, and exposing him to the unjust

Aging in Place
Aging in Place
Today the United States faces many challenges, challenges that mirror the changing world we live
in as well as the changing dynamics of our country as a whole. There is more than a few issues on
the horizon for America, and many of these issues can be tied directly to government expenditures.
Not the least of which is our current position on social security spending; arguably becoming the
largest Ponzi scheme the world has ever seen. However, it is the details that really accentuate the
complexity and scale of this ever growing budgetary concern. In 2012 social security spending
totaled 819.7 billion dollars. Making it the number two largest expense in the in our government

In addition to higher rates under the Act, the new taxes under the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act (Obamacare) go into effect in 2013: a new 3.8 percent tax applies to net investment
income of taxpayers with modified adjusted gross incomes over $250,000 (married filing
jointly), and a new additional Medicare tax of 0 .9 percent is imposed on taxpayers with wages
in excess of $250,000 (married filing jointly) . From an economics stand point taxes artificially
impose new market equilibriums that are not favorable for growth in GDP. If we continue to
modify the tax code to bridge the spending gap we will eventually lose our ability to compete in
the free market trade system, defined as capitalism, which is what this country is founded on, and
what has made us the leading economic world power we are today. In accounting terms if tax
liability were termed overhead we will become top heavy and our model for success will become
overburdened and uncompetitive in the global market. This ultimately leads to all of our jobs going
overseas as is currently the trend in American business. This is something that must be carefully
considered when looking to tax hikes to solve government spending problems.

Mass Incarceration In Ww2
In the face of mass incarceration and genocide during World War II, the Jews of Central Europe
had few options for safe living space. The Nazi campaign against the Jewish people as well as the
other races deemed degenerate by the former party ensured that further residence in Europe was not
an option. Additionally, Britain had become an unviable recourse. Initially, its officials had
welcomed the Jewish refugees before World War II as they fled the political upheaval in Germany.
The war, however, convinced Parliament to forbid further immigration; furthermore, it committed
to an aggressive internment policy against German, Austrian, and Italian Jews. Like Britain, the
United States slowed the flow of Jewish immigrants and, as Mandatory Palestine was in conflict,
there was no homeland for the Jewish people. The one safe haven left for Jewish refugees was in

Beauty Of Flies Research Paper
Warm sunny days invite people to fire up the grill and makes some delicious food. Lunch is extra
special out on the porch or deck. That is until the flies start arriving. Flies love the smell of food
and come from far and wide to visit your outdoor dining experience. They arrive making that
annoying buzzing sound. Then they land on your food. That is when it moves from annoying to
disgusting.
How can you keep the flies away from your next cookout?
Start moving the air
Due to being so lightweight, flies cannot fly in a strong breeze. Using a simple box fan to blow air
across the grill and table will help keep the flies away. If you have a covered patio, have an outdoor
ceiling fan installed. That way, you can keep the flies away every day.... Show more content on

Adding a bouquet of one or more of these herbs will deter the flying pests. Lavender, lemongrass,
basil, mint, and rosemary are particularly pungent to flies. Put a bouquet next to the grill and in the
center of the table to cover the most area.
Use essential oils as bug repellant
Essential oils offer an alternative to herbal bouquets. They can be applied to the skin to act as a
personal repellent. They can also be added to a diffuser placed in the middle of the table. The only
downside to essential oils is that you can t cook with them afterward.
Keep the drinks undercover
Flies love sugar. Sugary drinks like sodas and sweet tea are natural attractions for them. To keep
them away, keep drinks under cover. Drink containers should always have a lid. Serve drinks in
covered cups if possible. Wipe up spills.
Remove their close by breeding grounds
These flying pests breed in decaying natural material. You will notice that flies tend to hang
around the garbage cans or compost heap. If your outdoor garbage cans or compost area is close
to your outdoor grill/dining area, you will have more flies. Move those bins to another location. If
the dog has left a few piles in the backyard, clean them up before you have your cookout.

Describe The Difference Between Atria And Ventricles
The atria and ventricles are relaxing. The atria are filling with blood from the veins and the
ventricles just completed a contraction. The ventricles relax and the right AV valves open. When
the heart rate increases atrial systole begins, which causes a contraction that pushes blood into the
ventricles. The atria is contracting causing the depolarization wave to move through the cells of the
AV node then down the Purkinje fibers to the apex of the heart. Ventricular systole begins as the
muscle squeezes the bloodtoward the base. The blood being pushed along the AV valves cause
them to close. This causes a vibration of the AV valve and creates the first heart sound S1. S1 is
the lub sound heard when the AV valves close. This indicates

Essay On English Ambiguity
On Different Types of English Ambiguity
гЂђAbstractгЂ‘ Ambiguity is a wide phenomenon in all languages, including in English.
Sometimes, ambiguity can cause lots of problems if people fail to handle the ambiguity in English
properly. Thus, learning English ambiguity turns to be rather important and rational solutions to
erase ambiguity help people better convey and receive information. This paper analyses different
types of ambiguity in English from aspects of the phonological, the lexical, the syntactic and the
pragmatic, and illustrates several approaches to eliminate ambiguity.

Different types of ambiguity 3.1 Phonological ambiguity In linguistics, phonological ambiguity is a
type of ambiguity that arises out of the fact that words sound identical, but in fact have different
meanings. Besides, phonological ambiguity only occurs in spoken English(й‚±ж·‘еѕ·
и‹±иЇж§д№‰1998). There are three main reasons of phonological ambiguity: intonation ambiguity,
liaison ambiguity and homophony ambiguity
3.1.1 Intonation
Different from Chinese, a tone language, English is an intonation language. As a musical element
of an utterance, intonation is defined as the variation of the voice pitch when speaking. In spoken
English, when people say words with more than one syllable or sentence with different intonation
placements, ambiguity usually occurs for people s different perceptions of information. Observing

Magnet Schools Vs Public Schools Essay
Quality education can make or break a child s excellent future. So, if you are looking to enroll
your child in a good school, it is best to learn the features and benefits of each. Here, we look at
the differences and distinct traits of public, private, charter and magnet school, so you are better
guided on where to send your little one.
Public School
Public schools cater to students in the elementary, middle and high school levels. These are usually
traditional schools and there are guidelines set by the state as to the means of evaluating and
teaching students. Moreover, some public schools accept students depending on the entrance test
scores, and the cut off may be high.
When it comes to the credentials and qualifications of teachers employed in public schools, these
are quite noteworthy. In fact, these teachers are state certified with a bachelor s degree. Once
teachers are certified, it means they have undergone training in the state where they are practicing
the profession. Necessary coursework and student teaching practicum should also be completed
before a certification is granted to teachers. On the other hand, charter school teachers have a more

This means, there is a higher quality of control over subjects taught in the classroom such as

are followed in these schools.
Another distinct feature of public schools is the diversity of students enrolled. Hence, students are
exposed to an environment that is quite like the real world with different kinds of people from
various races, religion and cultures. Public schools aim to steer clear from racial segregation and
discrimination by accepting students from any type of background. There are also special academic
programs available to learners including environmental sciences and

The Bill Of Rights By James Madison
The first 10 Amendments to the Constitution make up the bill of rights written by James Madison.
He wrote this in response to calls from several states for greater constitutional protection for
individuals rights. The Bill Of Rights states specific prohibitions on Governmental power. What
influenced James Madison to write these Amendments was The Virginia Declaration Of Rights by
George Maddison. The Bill Of Rights was inspired by Thomas Jefferson who was Madison s
mentor and created on September 25, 1789 The Bill Of Rights was Ratified on December 15, 1791
in the House Of Representatives. The congress transmitted to the states legislatures and 12
proposed amendments. The Fourth Amendment Is the right of people to be secure in their persons,

warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation and particularly
describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized. This means You cannot

The gene that causes Sandhoff is located in chromosome 5. Sandhoff disease is typically caused
by mutations in the HEXB gene. This gene provides instructions for making a protein that a part
of two enzymes in the nervous system, beta hexosaminidase A and beta hexosaminidase B. These
two enzymes are located in lysosomes, which are in the cells that break down toxic substances.4
Sandhoff disease, like Tay Sach s, is classified into infantile, juvenile, and adult forms. Infantile
onset is the most rapidly progressive neurologic dysfunction and normally causes death by age
three. Symptoms of infantile onset generally begin the first six to 18 months of life, which include;
psychomotor retardation, cherry red spot, blindness, and hypotonia. After the age of two is when
the symptoms of macrocephaly and spasticity are demonstrated. Seizures usually begin after the
first year of life and are mostly tonic clonic or myoclonic.11 Juvenile Sandhoff begins to appear

Implementing A Job Rotation Program Within An Organization...
Zachary Golden
Final Paper Outline
Abstract The focus of this study is the benefits gained by implementing a job rotation program
within an organization and the advantages gained by the employees and employer. There are four
key areas that can be affect by job rotation:orienting new employees, training employees, enhancing
career development and preventing job boredom. In this study, I propose that incorporating a well
planned job rotation schedule not only improves the productivity of an organization, but also
increases the overall job satisfaction of employees.
Organizational Description Job rotation is an approach to employee development, where a person
is developed through a scheduled rotation through tasks in order give the widest exposure to the
entire operation. It is also practiced, so that qualified employees are provided more insight into a
company s processes, and to reduce employee burnout and increase job satisfaction through varying
work to provide new challenges. At the most senior levels, job rotation or management rotation, is
closely linked with developing specific people to step into an existing job. In this situation the goal
is to provide learning experiences and position prospective managers in area that allow them assume
a higher level position in the future. While this practice is important to the growth of management
in a business, this study will focus primarily on the rotation of junior management and workers. Job
rotation involves the

Indi An Emerging Economy Country
INDIA: AS AN EMERGING ECONOMY COUNTRY
India, whose name is derived from the River Indus, is moving forward and away from its
traditional agricultural economy which has been undertaken for decades, and with an approximate
population of 1.2 billion people, the second most populated country in the world, is categorized as
an emerging economy. The term emerging marketswas first put down by economists at the
International Finance Corporation in the year 1981, when the group was endorsing their first
mutual funds in evolving nations. References to emerging markets have become popular in the
media, annual reports, documentation, foreign policies and investment fund prospectuses since then.
India is a democratic, secular and liberal country, and I chose the country because I wished to

27 only, along with the fact it has second largest English speaking population in the world gives it
a benefit over The Republic of China, where English is still not spoken fluently. On the contrary
other industrial countries are ageing quickly, India will have loads of fresh talent, young individuals

Jazz Music, Freedom and Women
Background of Jazz
Jazz is still considered as etymology obscure as the origin and the background of the music is still
unclear to the society. According to The Oxford Dictionary of Music, 2nd Edition by Kennedy

Jazz is a term which came into general use for a type of music which developed in the Southern

Jazz which was considered as America s classical music was developed during the late 18th

jazz was a combination of blues, American popular song, musical theatre, European classical
music, ragtime and marches. During 1900 to 1928, jazz was widespread to Americans household
through the recording industry. Played by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in 1917, Livery Stable
Blues was the first jazz to be recorded.
During the beginning of dance boom in 1910, the early jazz was widely spread through the
country. As new couple dances such as trots and two steps being introduced to the young
generation, the natural swing of jazz had made it ideal for these dances as it has uneven rhythm.
This new music was then recognised as a symbol of rebellion and flock to speakeasies, cabarets

First of all, financial institutions were rare in Britain at this time. Therefore, it was very hard to

related to the lack of standards and tools to run a business at this time. As Wedgwood explained
during the vase madness period, the financial health of the company was in peril even if they

America s Treatment Of The Elderly
There is a perceived notion that Eastern societies view aging in a positive aspect, while Western
societies view aging in a negative light. Although there is much emphasis on respect for elders on
the Confucian societies, however, does East Asia s treatment of the Elderly really differ from North
America s treatment? In the Perceptions of Agingin Two cultures: Korean and American views on
Old Age, the authors are able to prove their thesis that through previous studies by Harwood et al
that countries such as South Korea, Philippines and Hong Kong do not necessarily hold positive
views on of old age. In this study, to better understand beliefs and perceptions of aging, Koreans
were expected to have a greater fear of old people, worry more about their physical appearance, and
show greater levels of anxiety over aging more than their American counter parts. Although
American women were expected to show more anxiety towards their physical appearance more than
their male counterparts. Such perceptions on older people have an effect on the mental, physical
and emotional health of elderly people. The many negative stereotypes about seniors affect how
seniors see themselves and how society views them. These stereotypes are usually regarding their

The right to consult a lawyer when being questioned by the police is a very important right as it
could potentially save an individual from being convicted for whatever he or she has been
accused of. This case was centered on Danny Escobedo who was taken into custody by the
Chicago police department on January 20th, 1964, for the shooting of his brother in law. During
Escobedo?s interrogation he continuously asked to consult with his lawyer. The authorities in
charge of Escobedos interrogation refused to provide a lawyer for Escobedo, which ultimately
ended up with him confessing to the murder of his brother in law. Being forced into confessing to
the murder of his brother in law drove Escobedo to take his case to the supreme court under the
premise that his sixth amendment right of right to counsel, which didn?t apply constitutional to

Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression
Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is
oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant
group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does
it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the
simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there
are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive
idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects
both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the
concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no
group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when
rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the
simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction.
Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal
oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly
counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of
oppression is largely

The NCAA Controversy
The NCAA
480,000 athletes; 19,000 teams; 3 divisions; 1 association (NCAA, n.d.) This is a description of
the NCAA today. In the early 1900 s, President Roosevelt got together with Harvard, Princeton and
Yale to ban the flying wedge (a very dangerous play in football that caused 18 deaths the previous
year.) (Demars, 2016). This was the commencement of the National Collegiate Athletic Association,

personal status (marriage, divorce and inheritance) and in cases of non Muslims; it is required to

Advantages And Cons Of AFTA Or Asean Free Trade Area

citizen also can go around these countries without visa and people can find job more easily.
Because when the country had opened for all members in ASEAN people can work in the proper
ways not work illegal in other ASEAN countries.
As a free trade area, members of ASEAN countries expect it to be more comfortable in the flow of

Azalea and Friends Essay
Today was going to be a superb day. Azalea had invited all her friends to her house. She had
found a key in her backyard, yesterday and didn t know what to do with it. Ding, Dong, Ding,
the bell rang it was Max, at the door Azalea s best friend in the whole world. Hi, Azalea Max
cried. Hey, Azalea replied. I want to show you something I found. Let s wait for the others.
Before Azalea and Max knew it, everyone was there. First to arrive was Taylor, followed by
Madeline, lastly with a tie, the twins Brad and Chad. I m so happy everyone could make it,
Azalea squealed. Now follow me to the playroom. Azalea s house was humongous. There were

luck the key didn t fit. Well obviously it fits a tree. Brad snorted. You must be kidding, Azalea
said. No he s not Chad retorted. The key is shaped like a tree, so it must obviously fit inside of a
tree. I think you guys are on to something, Azalea expressed. Everyone lets head to the backyard.
The outside of Azalea s house was just as nice as the inside. She had a miniature garden and a
spiffy, wooden patio. Tall, old, oaktrees were all around Azalea s house; they swayed in a
mysterious rhythm. Now what tree could it be? Madeline, asked the group. Let s try the massive
one at the top of the hill. Azalea, proclaimed. It was a hike, but the kids reached the top of the hill.
When they reached the massive oak tree Azalea noticed a door. The door had a keyhole. Put the key,
Put the key, Brad yelled! Don t rush me. Are you guys sure of this? Azalea asked her friends. I
mean this could be risky.
Everyone just stood there and looked at each other for a second. We re sure, piped Max. Just like
Peanut Butter and Jelly, we ll all stick together. Ok, you guys here goes nothing. Azalea placed the
key inside the keyhole, and one by one, from Azalea to Chad, they entered the door. It was pitch

Theatre in Ancient Greece Among the many inventions of the ancient Greeks, there have been a
few that have specifically impacted modern day life for the better. Many of the things that are
taken for granted today can be accredited to the intellectual minds of the people of ancient Greece.
Our complicated plumbing and sewage systems that manage sanitation in most of the cities in the

during this time. Every successful society thrived on expansion, and one could not expand without

Jocasta s (Oedipus mother) attempts to expel her cursed son and Oedipus avoiding of who he
thought were his biological parents only fed into Apollo s scheme. It was an important factor
that the audience was previously aware of this story and its outcome. As the jovial Oedipus
preaches about discovering the cause of the plague and finding truth, the audience is aware that
he is speaking out of ignorance and that his optimistic attitude would be short lived. This is
comparable to certain entertainment pieces of the modern day. The Titanic also depicted a story
that its audience knew the result of. Most people were aware of the fate of the Titanic before
they had viewed the film and it undoubtedly added to the experience much like it would have in
ancient Greece. Watching the joyful scenes of the patrons on the boat provokes mixed feelings of
delight and dreadfulness as the actors remain in an ignorant bliss while the audience is aware that
the boat will never make it to its destination. Oedipus the King concludes in a similarly destructive
manner. Oedipus realizes in the climax of the play that he has in fact failed to escape the prophecy
of Apollo and that he has become the incestuous murderer that he had so carefully tried to avoid
being. Oedipus is overcome with shame and disgust and gouges his eyes out and banishes himself
from Thebes after seeing that his

Research Paper On Jesus
Writing Assessment Option 1: Who I Admire
Thousands of people are idolized and admired every day. However, who would be the greatest
role model to admire? What actions, or feelings need to be demonstrated? Feelings of love, caring
or hatred? A man who was perfect, that shown miracles, and that treated equally, and even
sacrificed his life for all of us, is the perfect example of who to admire. To introduce, the man, his
name is Jesus. In history, Jesus was immeasurably known as the man of perfection, and was also
known as the holy one and divine in his human nature. Why do people think that Jesus was
perfect? Above all things, Jesus loved everyone and people loved him back. Our savior, Jesus
Christ, is the one who displayed many miracles, treated people equally, and is the one who
sacrificed his life to save us all, and is truly an amazing person to admire.

Business Communication Is Different in Pakistan Compared...
Business Communication is different in Pakistan compared to western countries
Communication is any behaviour, verbal or nonverbal, that is perceived by another. (Dwyer 2006)
business communications are purposive interchanges of ideas, opinions, information, instructions
and the like, presented personally or impersonally by symbol or signal as to attain the goods of
organization. (Rosenblatt, Cheatham Watt 1992) Today, the organization is growing more complex
and the business is growing larger, because of this, the communication is necessary for passing

business communication with organization s culture and country s system.
пѓ Direction of communication in most of the organizations in Pakistan ( especially public sector)
is mostly downwards, the mechanism of feedback and innovation of new ideas is restricted to only
few organizations. While in USA the direction of communication is mostly both ways. For example
different surveys, feedback tests and reports are conducted in business organizations monthly

пѓ In oral communication, both Pakistan and USA have informal rumours and one to one
discussions. But group discussions are more common and preferred in west.
пѓ Written communication has greatly been revolutionized by the advancement in technology

The Roots And Impacts Of Depression
The Roots and Impacts of Depression
Katherine L. Downey
Jefferson Community and Technical College
Abstract
This paper breaks down depression in every aspect. It starts off discussing the biology of
depression by showing what is actually happening on the inside of the body. Then moving on to
the symptoms of depression and what a person with depression might be feeling. These
symptoms can also help an outsider notice someone going through these stages of depression and
get them help. There is also a section that directly discusses three main types of depression. While
there are many forms of depression, knowing a few is very important and can be useful if they can
be identified in real life. At the end of this paper, treatment plans are ... Show more content on

Any human, male or female, is prone to the disorder. Nearly one in five people experience a
depressive episode at least once in their life. This paper breaks down depression s impact on the
body, the symptoms, the different forms, and possible treatment for people with this disorder.
Biology of Depression
Studies have shown that three neurotransmitters, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine, can be
associated with the cause and course of the depressive disorder. Even though research is still on
going, the findings are still intriguing (El Mansari et al., 2010; Torrente, Gelenberg, Vrana,
2012). Depression also seems to be correlated with specific structural features in the brain
(Andrus et al., 2012). People with the depressive disorder may have irregularities in certain areas
of the brain, such as: the amygdala, the prefrontal cortex, and the hippocampus. For example, some
regions of the right cortex show significant thinning in people who face a high risk of developing
major depressive disorder (Peterson et al., 2009). Otherwise, the depressive disorder most likely
forms as a result from a complex interplay of many neural factors. The roots of depression have not
been fully clarified yet, but frequent research is being done to understand what exactly is happening
when the body is undergoing depression.
Symptoms
Common symptoms of depression are:
Feeling sad or hopeless
Reduced pleasure in activities
Substantial loss or gain in

Defendant In essence, Jumpstarter Inc may utilize comparative fault defense to seek partial
liability in the case. Ideally, contributory negligence in the Jumpstarter case would attempt to have
the plaintiff as a contributor to the harm caused. The use of comparative fault defense by
Jumpstarter Inc would, therefore, be although the pacemaker failed and the applicant s case may
be watertight, the defendant would still win because there was a timely recall of the product. The
defendant would use the affirmative defense to agree and sympathize with the harm caused to the
plaintiff but still assert that they did their part by recalling the product. Everyone In the case
against Jumpstarter Inc., the plaintiff, Bob Hartley, will win. The rationale for this is because the
manufacturer violated the law by damaging the confidence of their customers through the
provision of faulty products. Recalling a product and fighting a legal case at the same time is not
ethical. This action shows that the defendant does not take full responsibility for their negligence
and the damage caused by their faulty goods. The best way to show remorse and full liability for
the breach of the implied warranty, the contract would be to recall the product and give

Descriptive Writing Into The Lash Forest
Into The Lush Forest
The sun had just kissed the hill, giving warm color to the sky, but I was feeling cold. The
excitement in my heart was slowly losing its fire. My group was lost, and I felt alone, in the
crowd of trees, a cold crowd perhaps. Sandhya, did you read all the information? It is two hour
long hike. You have hardly ever walked an hour. Take rest at home. You would not be able to
walk all the way. I remembered the wise words of my mother. However, I was here walking slowly
through the dense forest defying my mother s advice. I along with Nitisha and Puja were making
loud noises with our steps, crushing the fallen leaves, and the broken twigs. I could hear the
constant buzzing sounds of the mosquitoes and the crickets chirping. I was keeping calm until a
little lizard scattered off through the grass. Adrenaline rushed through every vein in my body as
I heard a strange, yet terrifying growling sound. At that moment, every instinct in my body told
me to run. I looked everywhere; all I could see were my two friends, and the cold quiet forest. Even
worse my anxiousness increased as I tried to locate where the sound was coming from. Trees,
flowers, and everything else where my eyes reached looked lifeless. I felt as if they had no soul and
I was slowly losing mine.
I wished it had been a regular Saturday morning, me being home with my mother. Nevertheless, I
was there with my school mates for the annual school hike. This forest is dense. Please do not

Lab Report On Pglo Transformation
Genetic transformation is a process that occurs when the DNA of a cell is altered by the
introduction of genetic material from a different source, like from another cell or a virus. This
process was discovered in 1928 by Fred Griffith while he was performing an experiment where he
injected different combinations of live and dead strains of Pneumococcus bacteriathat was either
virulent or non virulent into mice. When only the dead virulent strain was injected, the mice were
unaffected, but when both the dead virulent and the live non virulent strains were injected, the mice

coli) with a pGLO plasmid, which will cause it to take in and express the Green Fluorescent
Protein (GFP) gene. This gene, which has been encoded into the pGLO plasmid, is found in
jellyfish and causes them to produce the protein that makes them fluorescent green. A plasmid is
a circular piece of DNA found within a prokaryotic that contains certain genes for a trait that can
help the prokaryote to survive. They can also be extracted from prokaryotes and modified to
express a desired gene. Bacteria naturally exchange plasmids, causing them to gain traits from the
other and increase their chance of survival. To integrate plasmids into DNA, restriction enzymes
cut the DNA at certain points, creating sticky ends . Sticky ends are areas of unmatched nucleotide
bases that can be attached to corresponding nucleotide bases. Once the DNA and plasmid have
been cut, the sticky ends from both are attached together so that their nucleotide bases match and
are sealed with the enzyme ligase. After this, the cell can express the gene that the plasmid
contains. If the E. coli bacteria successfully take in the plasmid containing the GFP gene, they will
express the protein and become fluorescent green. The pGLO plasmid also contains a gene called
beta lactamase that causes resistance towards the antibiotic ampicillin. Therefore, if the E. coli
bacteria successfully take in the plasmid, they will

  • 2. Why Small Firms Having An Understanding Of The... Within this essay I will be discussing the possibility of small firms having an understanding of the characteristics of international business and not just only the large firms. This is because small businesses are always looked down and people have a misconception that only larger firms choose to go globally. Every business needs to have a mission and objectives and need to know what affects them environmentally and within their organisation. If they understand what is happening within the organisation, they can proceed to strategy formulation and can start planning and operate. According to the journalist of New York Times, Thomas Friedman, international businesses are a set of interrelated processes rather than a single process and call it a flattening process . This means that countries like China and India are able to become contributors in international business par with the richer industrialized countries. It is a commercial transaction that crosses the borders of more than two nations. In everyday life, imports, goods or services that are purchased abroad and brought into a country surround us. The same can be said about exports, where countries abroad will be using your nation s goods and services. International business is incredibly crucial as it contains a huge and growing percentage of the world s over all business. It is not something that can be ignored, because almost every company; whether the size of it, is affected by international events and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Thinking Outside The Idiot Box Analysis Contemporary t.v. in today s society has taken up a vast amount of time in people s life. People can spend hours in a day just watching t.v. mindlessly, however, is this time spent watching t.v. making a person smarter? The television shows that people watch today are a primary form of entertainment for a majority of America, along with conveying information to viewers. For years now people have wanted dumb, simple tv, but as the culture began to develop more cognitively people want complex and intelligent television. Contemporary t.v. is an important aspect for people to gainknowledge and information about the world, it doesn t matter whether information comes from a t.v. series, a comedy news show or from a hard hitting formal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to what Dana Stevens is taking about in finding credibility in a television like 24, Jason Zinser looks at this question in his article, The Good, the Bad, and The Daily Show. . Zinser addresses both the benefits and downfalls of television, but ultimately ends up taking a stand somewhere in the middle of how t.v. is both good and bad for people. Zinser s believes that The Daily Show can be used as a starting point from which people can gain an understanding of current events but it s not the most useful way. He claims that this type of information people gain from watching a comedy news show can be both useful but damaging. The question that needs to be addressed though, is why does it matter where people are gaining their knowledge about the world and critical events as long as they are gaining some knowledge from what they re watching. As Zinser states, An informed public is the grease that keeps democracy running properly. Although foreign and domestic issues aren t settled by popular vote, an informed public wields great democratic power . It doesn t matter whether information comes from a comedy news show or from a hard hitting formal newscast, any information that a person gains from television is far better than receiving no information at all, because if the public is informed about the news in the world they have an understanding of it and could possibly make decision about things ... • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Reactors A nuclear reactor works by using a neutron to split an atom. The atom being split is introduced by the fuel cell which is usually uranium, plutonium, thorium, or actinides. When this reaction takes place it releases a large amount of energy which is harnessed in the form of steam. This process of harnessing nuclear energy is a highly controversial topic with many pros and cons. In comparison with fossil fuels and renewable energies, nuclear reactors are more cost efficient and produce very little harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Nuclear Generation 4 was formed from an international group, Generation IV International Forum, also known as GIF, with the aim at developing a clean and efficient worldwide energy system. There are many advancements being made to make nuclear power not only safer for use and the environment, but also to make it more efficient. There is still a lot of work to be done to accomplish these goals set forth by the Nuclear Generation 4 project, but the future seems to be very promising. Only so much work can be done during a phase of research and development. It will take global cooperation to continue to move forward and be able to conclude the research and start a new phase of test sites. With the worldwide demand to find more efficient and sustainable energy sources for the future, nuclear power should remain a front runner for available ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Cost Reimbursement Analysis Sometimes when the policies and procedures of the workplace are unknown or lax, the people that take the most advantage of it are those that are truly trusted, or in a management position. Mr. Stehm was the Chief Accounting Officer of his company, and I m sure that his position had everything to do with the padding of his expense account. The article didn t say anything about how he processed his reimbursements, or rather approved them, but I d say no one looked closely at what he submitted, they were just paid. I ve read different articles that state that it usually takes about 24 months to figure out that someone is committing fraudby padding their expense account. These same articles also say that this is an age old issue, and is more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Normally, from a business standpoint it s wrong; but ironically from the employees standpoint, they usually feel that they deserve it, or they ve earned it, so it s not actually fraudulent. A big flaw in dealing with expense reimbursement is that careless, or lax, processing is usually at the root of reimbursing false expense claims. The reports are just shuffled through and sent in for payment (there were even stories of complicity between employees and the reimbursement clerk who received a fair share). This is one area where repeated ethics and fraud trainings for employees might prove beneficial. Procedures that I might recommend to the Board to reduce the possibility of reoccurrence would be, to have stricter supervision and detailed auditing of expense reports, which would include original receipts, before reimbursement is made. If the expense report is from a Manager, it should be required to go through at least two others for approval. In addition, internal control systems and strict policies must be established and enforced. A corporate expense account, or Agency credit card, should come with some type of letter of intent as to how the account is to be used and the ramifications one will face if it is not used in the manner intended. The letter should clearly state what items are considered to be reimbursable as work related: gas, travel, supplies etc. The employee would be expected to sign the letter of intent that states they understand the proper use of the account. Then, if the employee pads the account, they are knowingly asking for reimbursement for items that are not work related, and the employer has the documentation needed to deal with the employee as they see ... However, such work method started to lose its power when the company began to face the increasing competition and encounter new needs brought by the economic downturn in 2001. Bombardier Aerospace met its first revolution phase and they were then forced to look back on their technology base, restructure and develop a new strategy for the company s further development. The solution provided by Greiner is to find a strong manager who can swiftly pull the organization together. In this case, Bombardier Aerospace differs from the companies Greiner described. To find such a manager was easier for the former. First, Bombardier Aerospace, as part of Bombardier Inc, is not completely a newly established organization. Qualified managers can be transferred and distributed from the main company to other segments. Secondly, the four

In stead of employees, Bombardier Aerospace has to put the subsidiary manufactories together. It is the crucial time for Bombardier Aerospace to make the right decision. • 8. Howard Roark And Egoism Thematical diversity of the Howard Roark s architectural style expresses his world view. Self sufficiency of man s spirit (608), genius and independency of one s self are ideals forming the basis for his views. Such views have always been strived after by each person because they are admirable and right. But on no account, on average, can they be associated with egoism. So why does Howard Roark call them egoism? Egoism as an ethical category has an extensive contextual interpretation. Definition of the term provides a fertile ground for a distortion of its meaning. The custodian of the masses moral health engrains false rendering reshaping convictions of the majority. Results are visible in Waidler s exclamation and Howard Roark s response... The trusted medium, Roark, has natural rights to praise his idea, as he is one of the men who took first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision (679). The essence of Roark s views is independence of man s ego and mind free from the conformity. It is the key not only to mental harmony but also to further development of society, as the moving force is the creative faculty which is not selfless... self motivated, self generated (680). While the main criterion of egoism is personal worth, mental capabilities, society will be sorted out from imitators who copied imitations (46). The idea will be followed by the brainpower in varying degrees. Results will vary from the appearance of the beginnings of the self respect to the forming of self sufficient man s spirit. • 9. Endgame Play Essay On April 25th, I spent my Tuesday evening watching the production, Endgame, which is located in the Mason Hall of vertical building at 17 Lexington Avenue. Honestly, I was looking forward to this production because I ve never seen a play at the Baruch s vertical campus theater. I was also curious for the plotline of Endgame because I remember that Eric Krebs mentioned that this play was going to be very difficult to understand as it is meant for adults. After observing Endgame for about 75 minutes, I can undoubtingly conclude that it was one of the most confusing, but brilliant theatrical productions I ve ever watched. Endgame by Samuel Beckett focuses on the life of the two protagonist Hamm and Clov who live with both of Hamm s parents after an apocalyptic disaster. Throughout the play, Hamm continuously orders Clov, who is his servant, to follow routines such as opening the curtains, checking out of the window with a telescope, or moving Hamm s wheelchair to the middle of the room. It was, honestly, very difficult for me to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clov and Hamm would perform the same unfinished routines each day as if there is nothing much left to do as their endings are approaching. It is a way to show the audience, especially the older people, that death is going to occur, but it is still a scary thing to face. Isolation is another main point in the Endgame. The two protagonists have shown that even though there is constant bickering, they both needed each other. They are afraid of being alone, which is a common struggle many people deal with in life. I believe Krebs was correct because this was play that older people can definitely relate to. There was not any particular scene that spoke out to me because the entire play was indeed splendid. For the most part, the meaning behind the story was amazing and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Comparing Enrique s Journey And The Little Prince Throughout both Enrique s Journey by Sonia Nazario and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint ExupГ©ry, each protagonist is driven to go on a long, strenuous adventure. Enrique, a young boy from Honduras, attempts to leave his home country and make it across the Mexican American border. The Little Prince tells the story of his travels to a stranded aviator in the desert after falling to planet Earth. While each story may seem very different on a surface level, structurally they are very much the same. Although the women struggle to pay rent and eat in the United States, in the imaginations of their children back home they become deliverance itself, the answer to every problem. Finding them becomes the quest for the Holy Grail (Nazario, 2). He has grown to believe he is worthless and cannot be loved because his mother left when he was so young and did not return, while she had left specifically to support him and the rest of her family. By viewing his mother as a light in the darkness and making her presence his incentive, he is attempting to fill the gap in his pillar of needs. This can become dangerous though, as any romanticization can. On page 49, Nazario writes: Children like Enrique dream of finding their mothers and living happily ever after. For weeks, perhaps months, these children and their mothers cling to romanticized notions of how they should feel toward each other. Then reality intrudes. The children show resentment because they were left behind. They remember broken promises to return and accuse their mothers of lying. They complain that their mothers work too hard to give them the attention they have been missing. In many ways it can be, writing is an outlet to put all your personal thoughts and experiences onto a paper for all to see and criticize is nerve racking. For any person writing can be a struggle to piece together their thoughts into coherency, but it is all part of the bigger process. Writingcan help you convey what you truly believe and let your creativity run free through putting a part of yourself into your work. It is a way to let out any powerful emotions about something that is happening in your life in a healthy, almost therapeutic way. This idea of revealing your true self for your work can be seen in Leon Uris s quote that states, You can lie to your wife or your boss but you cannot lie to your typewriter sooner or later you must reveal your true self in your pages. The author uses the typewriter as a metaphor for an object you can confide in and not lie to much like a diary.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another quote that connects to the struggle of conveying one s innermost thoughts onto paper is said by Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway s quote proclaims I write with my blood, which means the author wrote the work with their entire heart and mind to convey their thoughts into words. Blood is such an integral, vital part of one s body, in turn when an author writes it contains a part of them in that work. This gives an effect of it being alive, even if the author itself is no longer living and breathing. • 14. Genetic Research And Its Effects On The Human Bodies Abstract This study helps us to understand what we need to know about companies owning specific portions of DNA sequences that exist in our own human bodies. The basis of genetic research and the idea of owning a gene were brought to light over 150 years ago when the Supreme Court ruled that you could not own human nature, but over time the advancement of scientific research and technology made genetic research and its findings more accessible. Genetic researchers were able to find genes that can help cure disease and could identify cancerous genes in humans. With companies being able to find these genes, they wanted to have chance to make money off of them; from tests for being applicable to cancer, disease, or any other medical problem. This became an issue because of how there are only few companies that you can go through for the test of that specific gene; they are a monopoly. Since the late 1990 s, people have begun to protest the right to own a gene in a human body and are wanting the companies to forfeit their rights of the ownership. This creates tensions because of the abundant amount of money associated with the gene. This makes the company come off as a negative aspect toward the next step in scientific discoveries. This study concludes that it is in the best interest of humans to make companies that own genes go to the Supreme Court in order to fight to protect ourselves against genetic monopolies, and to further develop scientific and technological ... • 15. The History Of School Uniforms countries. Consequently, clothing reform, which was advocated by reformers in 1898, was gradually accepted by the public and took its trend in militarization. As described by Antonia Finnane, the militarization of public costumes as a notion of enhancing China s military power infiltrated the nation: In place of the long robe, male students began to don trousers and jacket,...Straw boaters or military peaked caps replaced the traditional round cap. School uniforms were often modeled directly on military uniforms, as was the case in Japan, and commercial suppliers of military uniform touted for custom among students. Furthermore, after the revolution, clothing reform took on the trend of simplification, which stemmed from the idea of militarization. Embroideries and trimmings were replaced by plain shirts, and bright colors on garments, especially student garbs, and were reduced to black, grey or white. A new clothing style called Wenmingxinzhuang (civilized new clothes) was popularized among female students. The plain blue or white shirt with wide sleeves and black skirt became the standard uniform in many schools throughout the country. Aside from the idea of raiment s militarization, such simplification echoed 1898 reformers idea that traditional Chinese garments were overly complex. Conclusion From the time it was proposed in the late nineteenth century to its implementation in the twentieth century, clothing reform was endowed with different meanings and potential ... Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they were when first composed. Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time and place and appeal to the core of human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence is La Vie En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing life through rose colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for a world turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think the song would be at all successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin while Piaf was drinking with her friend Marianne Michel at a cafГѓ on the Champs Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118). References to emerging markets have become popular in the media, annual reports, documentation, foreign policies and investment fund prospectuses since then. I would like to point out that India with its young population with an average age of 27 only, along with the fact it has second largest English speaking population in the world gives it a benefit over The Republic of China, where English is still not spoken fluently. On the contrary other industrial countries are ageing quickly, India will have loads of fresh talent, young individuals and entrepreneurs. Illinois: Right to seek counsel Mark Monsees Liberty High School AP Government 3A/B The right to consult a lawyer when being questioned by the police is a very important right as it could potentially save an individual from being convicted for whatever he or she has been accused of. This case was centered on Danny Escobedo who was taken into custody by the Chicago police department on January 20th, 1964, for the shooting of his brother in law. During Escobedo?s interrogation he continuously asked to consult with his lawyer. The authorities in charge of Escobedos interrogation refused to provide a lawyer for Escobedo, which ultimately ended up with him confessing to the murder of his brother in law. • 44. Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction. Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of oppression is largely ... Even though research is still on going, the findings are still intriguing (El Mansari et al., 2010; Torrente, Gelenberg, Vrana, 2012). Depression also seems to be correlated with specific structural features in the brain (Andrus et al., 2012). People with the depressive disorder may have irregularities in certain areas of the brain, such as: the amygdala, the prefrontal cortex, and the hippocampus. For example, some regions of the right cortex show significant thinning in people who face a high risk of developing major depressive disorder (Peterson et al., 2009). Otherwise, the depressive disorder most likely forms as a result from a complex interplay of many neural factors. The roots of depression have not been fully clarified yet, but frequent research is being done to understand what exactly is happening when the body is undergoing depression. Symptoms Common symptoms of depression are: Feeling sad or hopeless Reduced pleasure in activities Substantial loss or gain in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Jumpstarter Inc. vs. Bob Hartley Essay Jumpstarter Inc. vs. Bob Hartley Name Institution Jumpstarter Inc. vs. Bob Hartley Introduction Jumpstater Inc had developed a product, Jumpstarter I, which was a pacemaker intended to regulate the heartbeat of an individual in the body. At the end of the nineties, the company discovered that the device became faulty when the body temperature increased above normal. To reverse the damage, the firm asked the medical facilities that had any unused product to return them to the company for credit. Additionally, Jumpstarter Inc. advised practitioners to remove any device that had already been implanted in the patients. Bob Hartley, a physician that had used the product in some of his patients, had to perform some serious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defendant In essence, Jumpstarter Inc may utilize comparative fault defense to seek partial liability in the case. Ideally, contributory negligence in the Jumpstarter case would attempt to have the plaintiff as a contributor to the harm caused. The use of comparative fault defense by Jumpstarter Inc would, therefore, be although the pacemaker failed and the applicant s case may be watertight, the defendant would still win because there was a timely recall of the product. The defendant would use the affirmative defense to agree and sympathize with the harm caused to the plaintiff but still assert that they did their part by recalling the product. Everyone In the case against Jumpstarter Inc., the plaintiff, Bob Hartley, will win. The rationale for this is because the manufacturer violated the law by damaging the confidence of their customers through the provision of faulty products. Recalling a product and fighting a legal case at the same time is not ethical. This action shows that the defendant does not take full responsibility for their negligence and the damage caused by their faulty goods. The best way to show remorse and full liability for the breach of the implied warranty, the contract would be to recall the product and give compensation to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Descriptive Writing Into The Lash Forest Into The Lush Forest The sun had just kissed the hill, giving warm color to the sky, but I was feeling cold. The excitement in my heart was slowly losing its fire. My group was lost, and I felt alone, in the crowd of trees, a cold crowd perhaps. Sandhya, did you read all the information? It is two hour long hike. You have hardly ever walked an hour. Take rest at home. You would not be able to walk all the way. I remembered the wise words of my mother. However, I was here walking slowly through the dense forest defying my mother s advice. I along with Nitisha and Puja were making loud noises with our steps, crushing the fallen leaves, and the broken twigs. I could hear the constant buzzing sounds of the mosquitoes and the crickets chirping. I was keeping calm until a little lizard scattered off through the grass. Adrenaline rushed through every vein in my body as I heard a strange, yet terrifying growling sound. At that moment, every instinct in my body told me to run. I looked everywhere; all I could see were my two friends, and the cold quiet forest. Even worse my anxiousness increased as I tried to locate where the sound was coming from. Trees, flowers, and everything else where my eyes reached looked lifeless. I felt as if they had no soul and I was slowly losing mine. I wished it had been a regular Saturday morning, me being home with my mother. Nevertheless, I was there with my school mates for the annual school hike. This forest is dense. Please do not wander ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Lab Report On Pglo Transformation Genetic transformation is a process that occurs when the DNA of a cell is altered by the introduction of genetic material from a different source, like from another cell or a virus. This process was discovered in 1928 by Fred Griffith while he was performing an experiment where he injected different combinations of live and dead strains of Pneumococcus bacteriathat was either virulent or non virulent into mice. When only the dead virulent strain was injected, the mice were unaffected, but when both the dead virulent and the live non virulent strains were injected, the mice died. This occurred because an instructional agent passed between the living and dead bacteria, causing the DNAof the living non virulent strain to be transformed and produce... This gene, which has been encoded into the pGLO plasmid, is found in jellyfish and causes them to produce the protein that makes them fluorescent green. A plasmid is a circular piece of DNA found within a prokaryotic that contains certain genes for a trait that can help the prokaryote to survive. They can also be extracted from prokaryotes and modified to express a desired gene. Bacteria naturally exchange plasmids, causing them to gain traits from the other and increase their chance of survival. To integrate plasmids into DNA, restriction enzymes cut the DNA at certain points, creating sticky ends . Sticky ends are areas of unmatched nucleotide bases that can be attached to corresponding nucleotide bases. Once the DNA and plasmid have been cut, the sticky ends from both are attached together so that their nucleotide bases match and are sealed with the enzyme ligase. After this, the cell can express the gene that the plasmid contains. If the E. coli bacteria successfully take in the plasmid containing the GFP gene, they will express the protein and become fluorescent green. The pGLO plasmid also contains a gene called beta lactamase that causes resistance towards the antibiotic ampicillin. Therefore, if the E. coli bacteria successfully take in the plasmid, they will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
