Cafe Society
CAFÉ SOCIETY, A TIMELESS ALLURE
LINGERING OVER COFFEE IN THE COMPANY OF OTHERS IS A RITUAL THAT NEVER
LOSES ITS APPEAL: MUCH HAS CHANGED OVER THE GENERATIONS, BUT THE GLOBAL
CAFÉ SOCIETY KEEPS IT TIMELESS GLAMOUR
In 1971, Starbucks was just a single bar in Seattle s market plaza. Ten years later, the one location had
become five, and the company began importing their own blends of coffee. The legend surrounding
the birth of Starbucks tells of Howard Schulz, one of the company s buyers, making a trip to Italy in
1983, and being astounded to learn that the Country had more than 200,000 cafés selling espresso
coffee and that Milan, a city the size of Philadelphia, had more than 1,500. Why couldn t it be the

And who could ignore Paris s oldest literary café Procope, or the city s iconic Cafè Flore or the
legendary Les Deux Magots, on the corner of Place Saint Germain des Prés: all beloved places for
20th Century artists and intellectuals like Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Albert Camus, Jean Paul
Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir.
But in the first half of the 20th Century, it wasn t just highbrow culture that was discussed in New
York or European capital cities. Cafés were a magnet for bohemians with their disorderly lives,
bourgeois women who were in search of adventure and models who d appear in sophisticated clothes
and jewels, like those featured in the photos by Cecil Beaton for Vogue. These were the cafés for the
sophisticated avant garde culture made up of beautiful people and bright young things , a generation
that would become immortalized with the name Café Society , which was a term coined by the
columnist for the New York American, Maury Paul, whose writings inspired the 1938 film by
Paramount Pictures, Cafe Society.
In the U.S, the rise of Cafe Society coincided with the end of Prohibition (December, 1933) and the
growing popularity of photojournalism. All of a sudden, photographers were taking pictures of
everything, everywhere as long as there was someone famous in the shot. Millionaires, starlets, sports
stars, and of course, the luminaries of Café Society .
And it was in

Jackie Robinson Essay
Throughout his professional career, Jackie Robinson, received criticism for being the first black player
to play the game. Not only did Jackie Robinson manage to live up to the criticism, he also changed the
face of America s greatest past time forever. With his entrance into the MLB he opened the path for
great black players like Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, Willie Mays, and Ozzie Smith just to name a
few. In crossing the color barrier in baseball Robinson not only strived as a great player on the field,
but also a inspiration to the black community of the field with his humility, and willingness to move
forward in a time where blacks were not considered equal .

In the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany, Mack won the silver metal in the 200m hurdle (13).
Learning to deal with criticism early was a major contribution to his success in life. He and his friends
would be called racial names while just trying to play baseball at the local park (Kahn 10).
Not long after the family moved to Pasadena, California Robinson s mother enrolled him into
Pasadena Junior College. At Pasadena Junior College Robinson set a National Junior College record in
the long jump of 25 6 ½ (Ringer 22). After only one year at Pasadena Junior College Robinson
received an athletic scholarship to the University of California, Los Angeles (23). There, Robinson
became the first Bruin athlete to earn varsity letters in four sports (25). Robinson was a standout in
football, baseball, basketball and track (26). After three years of college Robinson left college to work
to support his mother (29). He was one of four African American players on the 1939 UCLA Bruins
football team. This was not normal to have so many African Americans when only a few dozen at all
played on college football teams. Later, Robinson went on to play semi pro football in Honolulu.
Several months later, Pearl Harbor was bombed, and he enlisted in the U.S. Army (31). In the Army
Robinson completed Officer Candidate School and became a Second Lieutenant (34). In 1944
Robinson faced a court martial for refusing to move to the rear of an Army bus (42).

Ch. 7. Pr. 35
Why does the sampling distribution of the mean follow a normal distribution for a large enough
sample size, even though the population may not be normally distributed?
When you have large sample sizes the effects of the extreme values on the sample mean downsize the
larger the sample sizes are. When you have a large sample, even if the population isn t distributed
normally the sampling distributed of the mean will be very close to normally distributed.
Ch.7 Pr. 36
What is the difference between a population and a sampling distribution?
The sampling distribution is a distribution of the results if all possible samples are selected, where as a
population distribution is the distribution of a particular variable of interest.
Ch. 7 Pr. 37
Under what circumstances does the sampling distribution of the proportion approximately follow the
normal distribution?
If both the items of interest and the items that are not of interest are least 5, the normal distribution can
be used to approximate the binomial distribution.
Ch. 7 Pr. 38
What is the difference between probability and non probability sampling?
Probability samples are samples that the individuals or items are selected based on the probabilities

Essay on How Popular Culture Affects Race
HOW POPULAR CULTURE AFFECTS RACE
The popular culture particularly visual media affects our opions and attitude towards race and racial
minorities group. our assumptions about race and racial minorities are both successeded and reflected
in the streotypes presented by the visual media. i strongly believe in the George Gebners scientific
examintaiton of televison that how we perceive ourselves and how we view those around us are
affected by what we see on television. Visual media has such a heavy impact on us that even though

different groups have encountered unique forms of racial opression. Native american faced genocide ,
blacks were subjected to slavery, mexicans were invaded and asians faced exclusions. Films and
televsions have been notorious in dissementing images of racial minorities which establish for
audiences what these groups look like, how they behave and in essence who they are. Another
important perhaps central dimensions of racial minority streotype is sex gender differentiation. women

Research Paper On Marvel s Comics
3. They ve always been very liberal Marvel has never shied away from a story due to issues such as
racism or sexism. There have been plenty of downright messed up storylines in Marvel s comics. One
of the first big ones was Tony Stark s battle with alcoholism. Being someone as powerful as him while
suffering from such a crippling illness was not taken lightly. He was arrogant, violent, careless, and
worst of all self destructive. It put someone who is supposed to be admired and looked up to down in
the gutter, somewhere you d never think a hero belongs. There s also the subject of Ant Man and his
wife, The Wasp s story. At one point Hank Pym was actually using his technology to forcibly shrink
her and basically slap her around. An abusive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was years ago before let s say the last 10 years. Nowadays, we just have too many people with soft
skin demanding that X Y and Z happen in comics because it hurts their feelings. It s caused Marvel to
scramble and make weird decisions, the most important of which to me is the re branding of a
character. I m mainly talking about Miles Morales and Lady Thor. To re skin a character with a
different gender or race is not being legitimately influential to those groups, in my opinion. It s forcing
something to happen to simply pander to people whining on the internet. There have already been
successful and well written black and female characters in Marvel before. Luke Cage, Black Panther,
Blade, Bishop of the X Men, She Hulk, Jean Grey, Storm, Invisible Woman, Scarlet Witch...all of
these characters are very well developed and have all had major roles in various crossover events and
within their own comics. It s not racist to say that it s stupid that there s a black spiderman. I mean
when he was in the ultimates universe it made more sense because in the multiverse anything is
possible, but now he exists side by side with Peter Parker. He even recently had a line in a comic
where he literally said, I shit you not, I don t want to be known as the black spiderman . Well
considering peter parker is alive and well...that s kind of all you are. You can t be just spiderman if the
real original spiderman still exists. Makes no sense. As a result, it s kind of more insulting to me that
they d even say that in the comic knowing damn well why he s known that way. Same thing goes for
Lady Thor. They really had no good reason to make the power of Thor go to a woman, it was just the
right thing to do for diversity! Except true diversity comes from writing someone new and interesting
that captivates the audience and is also a woman. Not something Marvel hasn t done before, again. It s
just insanely

Chariot Tactics
For centuries, chariots have been a useful resource in early civilizations. It is defined as a two wheeled
vehicle pulled behind horses to travel from one place to another. The development of a chariot
originated in Mesopotamia before 3000 B.C. and it started to receive widespread attention. During this
civilization, hill dwellers from north of Mesopotamia were sophisticated people because they created
the chariot with good intentions. However, the use of chariots declined rapidly when new tactics were
developed for warlike purposes. Although there are several deficiencies in chariots, it largely
influenced ancient warfare politically, economically and socially.
Chariots served as a great tool in a country. The purpose of military operations is to ensure the safety
of all citizens on a regular basis. When chariots were first introduced, people believed this machine ...

While it is true that chariots protect people from danger, it also helped them seek for employment.
Life gradually improved when people learned and discovered how to build a light maneuverable
vehicle of war that could be drawn by a team of horses at great speed (pg.134 135). The promotion of
a chariot received positive feedback from people because they found it fascinating. Many countries
wanted chariots in their possession simultaneously, so this created job opportunities for people to
produce them. It is very important for a person to have a job because they can earn money to support
themselves and their family. According to Humphrey (2006), chariot makers used materials such as a
hard, dense wood, little prone to cracking, for the hub: a straight, tough, inflexible timber for the
spokes; and a straight grained, easily bent timber for the felloe (pg.135). They would acquire different
pieces of wood, heat them up in a specific shape, and then let them dry for several hours. Therefore, it
is not easy because it requires a lot of

Imagery In Nate Powell s March
Everywhere you look you see many different beautiful scenes of nature and socitety. In the book
March, the illustrator, Nate Powell, along with the authors, John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, use these
scenes to illustrate the civil rights movement. The novel shows the growth of the main character, John
Lewis, and how he started as a young child who grew up into a very influential man in the civil rights
movement. March describes many influential moments in the civil rights movement, such as the lunch
counter sit ins and the Freedom Ride. The novel uses different types of imagery to enhance the story

One way used many times throughout the book is using black to reinforce a grim tone onto the reader.
An example of this is in Book One on page 93. The image shown is of lunch counter protesters during
a sit in with a counter closed sign. The photo uses mostly black to develop a dark and unsettling tone.
On the page before it is shown how the servers did not want to serve SNCC members. The negativity
and hatefulness of the servers is reinforced with the dark tones used to create the image on page 93.
Another instance the illustrator uses black is in Book Two on pages 102 through 108. The Freedom
Riders were arrested and they were transferred to the Mississippi State Penitentiary, also known as
Parchman Farm. This point in the Freedom Riders journey was one of the low points for the Riders.
They were dehumanized and treated terribly in the jail, this shown in the way the panels are
illustrated. As soon as the Riders entered the jail cells, the white borders started to transition into black
borders. This transitions the tone the reader feels while reading. The dark colors cause the reader to
subconsciously feel unsettled and unhappy, which is what the Freedom Riders felt during their time at

Tax Avoidance
There is a very clear distinction between tax avoidance and tax evasion from academic publications.
Tax books have defined tax avoidance as the lawful minimization of tax liability through sound
financial planning techniques, while tax evasion is the unlawful attempt to minimize tax liability
through fraudulent techniques to circumvent or frustrate tax laws . The consequences of either action
are also clear. The former is not punishable by law while the latter is. However, the lines between
evasion and avoidance have become blurred between the government and the general public.
In an academic publication, tax revenues are denoted as the lifeblood of the social contract, vital to the
development and maintenance of physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, Richard Murphy, anti poverty campaigner and tax expert , has stated that those
who argue that the matter is simple; avoidance is legal and evasion is illegal have forgotten how hard
it is to tell what is and is not legal . This is especially true because a lot of the tax avoidance schemes
these large entities are involved in are such complex matters that even HMR C struggle to unravel
them. It seems like the Corporations are able to get away with it because, in an interview with Liberal
Democrats Treasury spokesman, Vince Cable, he stated that Banks and other Corporations use the
finest legal brains money can buy to avoid tax, but HM Revenue Customs is underpaid and
overstretched, so it is far from a level playing field.
Much of the complex tax planning strategies involves an international dimension; a prime example is
the Arcadia group. According to the Guardian, the businessman banked a record £1.2bn dividend in
2005 which he paid directly to his wife. Richard Murphy, director of Tax Research UK, estimated
Green saved £285m by doing this. This raises the issue of non domiciled status and tax havens that
many of the wealthy use to avoid paying tax. Even though the government introduced a flat charge of
£30,000 to those who have been resident in the UK for more than 7 out of the last 9 years as of 6 April
2008 (Goodman Jones), UK Uncut argue that this does not equate to the billions in pounds that could

Tom Brennan Social Justice Quotes
The concept of social justice is based of human rights and equality, this is the way people are treated
in everyday life. The text I am currently studying is The story of Tom Brennan and I am seeing how
this has some aspects of social justice like alcohol abuse and property vandalism.
The story of Tom Brennan is a book about a nineteen year old boy named Tom Brennan who has his
life turned upside down because of a car crash that resulted in two deaths and one paralyzed. One
example of social justice in this book is the fact that Daniel was under the influence of alcohol whilst
driving, thus causing the car crash which affected the whole town and making the town angry against
the Brennan family, my second example is the fact that there was alcohol at the rugby after party, but I
personally believe it is one hundred percent ok with alcohol at the party, it just has to be their
responsibility that they have designated drivers to get others home safely. There is also alcohol itself,
that is the main cause of the car accident itself and that too just needs a ... Show more content on

connotative metaphor on page 165 by describing toms grans house and Tom s room as the cave . I
believe that a lot of aspects of social justice confirm my views on social justice, as it was only Daniels
fault for the whole thing and Daniel wasn t being responsible as he should have, unlike Tom, who

10 October 2016 Electronic Communication and Its social and Psychological effects How does
electronic communication affect our social behavior as a whole and our psychological development?
Communication is an important part of life. We all do it in a daily basis whether it s face to face or
through electronics. Communicating through the internet helps us as it decreases a bit in the time that
it would usually take for us to keep in touch with our loved ones. However, it also takes away from the
face to face interaction we would have with them. One of the most popular ways that people
communicate electronically is through text messaging. Just like all the other diverse ways that allows
us to communicate electronically such as email, instant messaging, social media etc., text messaging
affects us both positively and negatively. Actually we are affected both positively and negatively with
just the ability to communicate and interact with others electronically. Electronic Communication
tends to affects us socially and psychologically; Socially: in a way that it allows us to keep in touch
with our loved ones, especially those who live far from us, however it distracts some of us from our
priorities; Psychologically: one can be affected in a

Student Leadership Reflection
Throughout the semester I have learned a lot about my strengths. At first, I had no clue what they
were. I also had no clue that they can help explain why certain people work well in a group together or
why they don t. My strengths have helped me adjust to life as a college student and even helped me to
figure out what I want to do after my college career is over. Events like the Heritage Project, The
Student Leadership book, the networking event, and even the peer mentor presentations gave me a lot
to think about when considering my future. This class has helped me develop my leadership skills and
grow as an Otterbein student by allowing me to better understand myself.
Throughout this semester I have encountered many different situations that I have never experienced
before. I wasn t hesitant about starting college but once I got here I found it a little overwhelming. I
didn t know about many of the resources that are on campus and classes were very different from what
I expected them to be. FYS Goal one, found on the strengths reflection paper guidelines is, To connect
you to the resources that promote belonging, wellness, personal development, and success in the first
year . I feel as though FYS 1025 has helped me meet that goal because I now know about many of the
resources centers here. I learned about them through Jordan s peer mentor moments, whether she was
talking about the Center for Student Success or the CCPD. Jordan s peer mentor moments helped me
locate the different resource around campus and even understand what they were about. Even though I
haven t been to some of them, I was able to help people not in our class find them and know what
those resources are about. This has helped me grow as a student because it increases my familiarity
with campus and allows me to know that if I have a question there are people that can provide me with
information.
The course has developed me as a future leader at Otterbein by helping me understand myself. In the
beginning I didn t know about strengths. Now that I do, I see why they are important when beginning
a new chapter in life. Before starting a project, I now think about how I m going to accomplish my
goals. I use my strategic strength to plan out

Essay On Prehistory And History
Prehistory literally means before history . It is derived from the Latin word which means before
(Prehistory Wikipedia, 2011). This was the era when there were no written records yet about the
existence of the first wave of ancient humans. This was also the time when the periods were divided
into subgroup system which consists of the Stone Age, Bronze Age and the Iron Age.
Prehistory gave rise to the emergence of civilizations. This was also the time when the evolution of the
early human beings was influenced by some inventions such as the writing system. So basically,
prehistory is the time when the first set of human beings came into existence along with their
discoveries and inventions.
History (from Greek ἱστορία, historia, meaning inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation )[2] is
the study of the past, particularly how it relates to humans and it can also refer to the academic
discipline which uses narrative to examine and analyze a sequence of past events (History, Wikipedia,
2014). The term history was coined after Aristotle used it in one his studies called the Inquiries about

Masculinity And Its Effect On Male Giraffes
Giraffes have an extremely unique and specific set of courtship behaviours. Giraffes are polygynous
and no long term bond is formed between the male and female giraffes before or after mating occurs.
In fact little is known about what precise factors influences on males mating success rate, how the
female makes a mate choice, the number of males that will copulate with a single female, or offspring
paternity. Giraffe courtship begins with the behaviour known as the flehmen sequence or the urine
test. Giraffe Bachelor Herds congregate near female herds during the wet season to share the lush
abundance of new vegetation but they also begin to seek out female to mate. Solitary male giraffes

Ancient Greek Culture And Archetypes In The Odyssey
Connections between humans and their culture over time, rarely found, happen to be found in ancient
literature. The connections ,archetypes, can be found in the adventurous book The Odyssey. Ancient
greek culture is brought up by Homer through archetypes. In the Odyssey, topics such as terrifying
monsters , love tests, and an unstoppable hero are all related to ancient greek culture. The Odyssey
shows archetypes that also reveal this culture. Three archetypes found are monsters, loyalty, and a
hero which shows ancient greek culture for modern readers. Skull crushing and blood thirsty monsters
is a common fear and an archetype. For example, in the article Monster Archetypes in the Odyssey, it
states the most famous is Polyphemus, the dreaded Cyclops . Polyphemus is a massive and spine
chilling monster. The scene with Polyphemus of bashing skulls against rocks is described as a horror
film. The ancient greeks had their fear of mythical intimidating creatures. Another example from the
same article includes masking bloodlust and cannibalism to Odysseus men . The Laestrygonians, as
said in the quote, were deceived as a normal village until they found out they were cannibals. These
characters might be found in a modern horror film, Wrong Turn, so fear has not changed in the last
3,000 years. Not all monsters must be massive and strong, but they can be seductiveness. Circe is a
seductive woman who turns sailors into pigs (Monster Archetypes in the Odyssey) is an

Marx vs Weber vs Engels Essay
Capitalism is invariably acknowledged in the study of social science. Amongst the respective gathered
ideals of the esteemed sociologists: Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Max Weber include through
discussion as to the origins of Capitalism, as well as the role and effects it plays upon civilized
societies. Whereas Marx and Engels view of Capitalism fall within similar boundaries, Weber s
opinion of the matter differs in regard to the formers in several ways. In similarity, both parties agree
that history [or sets of historical change(s)] lead to the establishment of Capitalism within social
groups of human beings. However it is in their assessment of the sources of impact on history, which
begins the disparity between the two parties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The means of production are resources necessary to ensure survival, and the relations of productions
are the very social relations that people enter into within the established economy which benefit
survivability (e.g. forming families). The combination of the means of production and the relations of
production results in the mode of production, or the method by which a society is [currently] run. In
their materialist reading of history, Marx and Engels proclaim that with the necessity for survival
driving history/ and man to the development of social interaction and thus the establishment of the
economy, staged progressions will come forth as a result. To Marx the economy will ultimately be
responsible for all aspects of society. It will be from the development, and circumstance stemming
forth from such development of the economy, that the stages of history will progress. And as such to
Marx and Engels Capitalism will be a stopping point upon this staged progression route of history. In
this way it is concluded that Capitalism is a mode of production stemming from the economy [means
and relations of production], which in itself is a result of the history of materialism [the innate struggle
for survival and the social relations built upon this struggle]. Weber s view towards history is that it is
not a series of staged progressions. As such his view towards Capitalism was not in accordance to
Marx and Engels.

The And The Space
Staring down the corridor I see a white blur. Walls are scattered with flickering lights and monitors. As
I let go of the walls and push off the ground, I am free, as if I will never touch the ground again; I am
floating limp above the Earth.
Scott is here with me. Our suits resemble large puffy marshmallows. Mission Control briefs us before
we begin. Sometimes it is like the guys back on Earth are purposefully trying to scare us before we
begin. Protocols are necessary for our safety as we venture into this dangerous place. Thoughts of
rupturing lungs, bursting eardrums, and boiling bodies, plague my mind. Mission Control utters that
the briefing will keep Scott and I safe. Although the thought of my demise is not entirely discouraging.

The hatch begins to move. My first glimpse of the universe is veiled behind the shade of white
insulating fabric what a buzzkill. A corridor of white covered by even more white, a curtain hiding the
most stunning view. My disappointment is obvious. Reaching out to pull it away is as exciting as
unwrapping a Christmas gift.
A hint of the universe peers into the airlock. Rays of sunlight invade abruptly, casting a silhouette
upon the back of the corridor. Detaching from the station, a sliver of the universe catches my eye, it is
now time to go out.
As much as I would love to float gracefully through the emptiness of space, I don t intend to die today.
The bulky square space suit makes it difficult to fit through the round hatch. Emerging from the hatch,
I notice the grand scale, the vivid colours and textures of the cosmos.
I m holding onto the rest of the planet, with a single grip of my hand, supported from my waist, only
by a thin tether. We revolve with the world at speeds unimaginable. On one side is a familiar world of
infinite textures and boundaries painted on the ground by the civilisations of Earth. To the other side,
an endless field of ever enshrouding cosmic darkness. Eyeing me from behind is my partner Scott,
speeding forward; head first like a missile. We are ready to get to work.
Working outside in the vacuum of space is a surreal experience. It s almost like déjà vu, it is a place so
familiar, yet so otherworldly. Five hours pass in the blink of an

Women Should Be Allowed In The Military Draft
Should women be allowed in all areas in the military? Making a draft for women will destroy families,
cost more money for the military, and women have a big disadvantage against men. If there is a draft
for women it will only make things harder on everyone. If women want to serve, go find another job;
and there is no reason why they should be forced to. Because of these reasons there should not be a
draft for women. There has already been 2 females that have completed the marine corps. Females
shouldn t be allowed in all areas of the military if they can t meet the same standards the men have to
meet. To begin with, there is no problem without women why make it harder and put women in the

Women are different from men. If a woman is carrying 130 pounds of equipment into combat, there is
a high risk of them getting hurt. If a girl gets hurt in the military this can cost more money for medical

someone else is going to have to put themselves at risk to help her get back safely. With this being
said, there is no reason to have women on the ground and in battle over men. The military already uses

Stereotypes Of Women In Beowulf
As for social issues, the stereotypes of women are fairly apparent. Women seem to have a definite
roles and expectations. In one instance, it is mentions in the book that women are often married off in
order to settle tense relations between factions. One textual example read as:
Hrothgar will give her
To Ingeld, gracious Froda s son;
She and that ripening soldier will be married,
The Danes great lord and protector has declared,
Hoping that his quarrel with the Hathobards can
Be settled. (2023 2028)
This shows how women were used as an object, but most men in the epic were personified as warriors
or kings. In addition to this, Beowulf mentions how Grendel s mother could not be as strong as him
simply because she was a women. From the poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At another level, it is also a mode of analysis and politics, committed to freeing all women of gender
based oppressions (805). This ties into the theme of downplaying and obedience of women throughout
the epic. There is no mention of men walking throughout the mead halls serving the other men, but
Hareth s daughter took them through the hall, / Carried ale to her husband s comrades (Beowulf 1981
1982). There seems to be a de facto state of women as the lesser sex during this time. This may be due
to the warrior culture that was apparent warrior culture that the characters of Beowulf lived by. Lee
and Daly s essay proposes the concept of universal female subordination, of man the hunter, and
woman the nurturer (30). It would be logical to assume that one explanation for the patriarchal society
of Beowulf would be the warrior culture. Even in today s culture, it is not common for women to be a
soldier. Lee and Daly concede that two parts are social inequality and militarism (30). This may
suggest that the positions of power that militarism often grants men creates social inequality. This
would seem to be even more painfully apparent during a time such as the eighth century because it
was the time of nights and

For my Social Capital activity, I chose to make a donation to the 2016 Christmas Fundraiser. I like to

Development of a Prenatal Baby
Shannon was born at 23 weeks gestation and weighed only 1 pound 7 oz. She was hospitalized for five
month, and this experience itself is a concern for developmental delays. She is now 12 months of age
chronologically, and 9 months developmentally. Shannon s areas of concern are her visual impairment
as well as developmental delays in motor, cognitive, communication and social and emotional areas.
Shannon appears to be in the neonate stage of development regardless of her chronological and
developmental age; due to her under developed respiratory system, digestive system, cognitive,
communication and motor system.
Regarding communication, receptive language is an area of concern; I would say Shannon although 9
months developmental age is functioning at a developmental age of 3 5 months in this area: turning
her head to sounds and watching faces of a speaker. Shannon has shown receptive communication for
example; the sound of a rattle which Beth places in her hand and helped shake. Evidence of
developmental stage in the 3 5 month range from the case study; Shannon turned her head away from
the window and toward Beth and Shannon s attempt to maintain focus on Beth s face.
Second area of concern is fine motor; Shannon is at1 2 month developmental age evident through the
fact that she can hold a grasp on an object, but cannot release it voluntarily. In the gross motor
category, Shannon is also at1 2 month developmental age. Shannon lacks postural controls, and has

Conspiracy In Othello And Catiline
The Conspiracy of Catiline and Cicero s Consulship
Cicero had many tough decisions during his life. One of these was what to do about Catiline and his
conspirators. Cicero had made a law that prohibited people from running for legislatures to not be able
to bribe voters in order to get elected. Catiline, while running for a position in the legislature, knew
that this law had been partially made because of him. Catiline wanted to obtain consulship and
overthrow the Roman government. Catiline, at first, just wanted to kill the two consuls, but then he
decided to kill all of the Senate. Although Catiline was planning on killing the men running the
government, he still tried to get legitimately elected. Catiline recruited other conspirators ... Show

Cilia Essay
Cilia; An Essential Motility Centre Whose Defects Are Implicated in Many Diseases
In the summer of 1674, the Dutch scientist Antoni van Leeuwenhoek looked through a homemade
microscope at a sample of rain water and revolutionized the human view of the world. What he found
was little legs that we now know are the cilia that many single celled protozoa use for locomotion.
Almost exactly 300 years later, the observations of Swedish scientists Afzelius led to another
paradigm shift, when he linked defects in the machinery required for the movement of human cilia to
Kartagener s syndrome (KS), a disease characterized by chronic sinus and respiratory infections; male
infertility; and, incredibly, the misplacement of the heart and other organs (Brown Whitman 2014). He
too came up with the hypothesis that the existence of so called sensory hairs protruding from the cell
surface into the extracellular space was to explain the poor sense of smell and decreased hearing
ability in patients with KS (Pennekamp et al. Cilia 2015). Almost two decades after Afzelius presented

Marketing Analysis
Locations of Regional Offices
According to Exhibit 3, California and South Atlantic are the top two areas that have significant
difference in the number of farms having flock size over 50,000. Since these two locations contain
about 45% of farm with flock size between 50,000 and 99,000 and about 46% of farms with flock size
100,000 and over, regional offices should be set and more selling effort should be invested. The
specific numbers are as following: California South Atlantic Total Total Number of Farms Percentage
in Total
Flock size 50,000 99,000 114 168 282 631 45%
Flock size 100,000 and over 87 70 157 345 46%
(Source: Exhibit 3)
Since four to five regional offices should be set, the other locations should be Middle Atlantic and
West South Central. The specific numbers are as following: Middle Atlantic West South Central Total
Total Number of Farms Percentage in Total
Flock size 50,000 99,000 55 77 132 631 21%
Flock size 100,000 and over 29 42 71 345 21%

Since less farms than California and South Atlantic exist in these two areas, selling efforts could be
invest less, either.

example of an unethical CEO is Dov Charney of American Apparel. Its CEO is extremely unethical,
unlike the CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, who is considered a very ethical CEO to a very ethical

Comparison of Genesis 1 2
Brady Pair
Dr. Stewart
REL 1330 Introduction to Christianity HONORS Section
September 18, 2013
Comparison between Genesis 1 Genesis 2 The story of creation begins with Genesis 1 and 2, it
explains how the world and it s living inhabitants were created from God s touch. From Genesis 1 we
see how the sky, seas, land, animals, and mankind were created. However Genesis 2 focuses more on
the first of mankind, known as Adam and Eve and how they are made to be. In this paper I will
compare Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 and what the main idea for creation is in each one, however in my
opinion there is no contradiction between the two. Genesis 2 merely fills in the details that are
headlined in Genesis 1. In Genesis 1 we learn how God created the ... Show more content on

Another possibility is that there were two stories being told and the writer could not decide which one
to put in the bible, so he put both. Though there are two clashing stories, the basic idea for this story of
creation can still be seen. This might explain why Genesis 1 has a broader spectrum of creation and
why Genesis 2 focuses mainly on the creation of man. In Genesis 1 the names of man are not even
mentioned. In Genesis 2 however we come to learn that their names are Adam (male) and Eve
(female). Also in Genesis 2 we learn exactly how Eve is created; Goad takes a rib from Adam and
makes Eve from that rib. Then she is called woman, because she is made from man (Gen 2:23). This
appears nowhere in Genesis 1.
Another possibility is that Genesis was also put in the Bible to show us how important the creation of
man was. After all we are the only things that God created in his image (Gen 1:26). God makes a
garden in Eden and puts Adam in the eastern part of Eden to care over and keep it in order. He then
instructs him about what trees to eat from and which to not eat from. Before God makes him a helper
(on the 6th day) he brings all the creatures to Adam to name all the animals and birds (Gen 2:15).
Then God reflects back at what he previously made before man. (Gen 1:24 25 explains the creatures
made from the earth according to its kind ) and has Adam name them before he puts him asleep to
operate on him to give him his wife

The African-American Image in Films
The African American Image in Films
Films serve many functions like education, entertainment, handbooks of social behavior, and a
transmitter of cultural and social values. The most effective way in which stereotypes are perpetuated
in America is through the mediums of film and television. American films mostly played an influential
part in fixing images of ethnic groups in the minds of audience. The negative representation of films
or movies sometimes reinforces false assumptions (as poor, dangerous and dumb) about minority
groups, for example African American. The way African Americans were represented in past films can
be proved misrepresentation of minority group by an average viewer. The lack of control of films over

In the1998 film Deep Impact, it s a scene that never would have been imagined; a well dressed
attractive woman stands before a group of reporters, and announces, Ladies and Gentlemen, the
President of the United States . At this point, a middle aged African American man walked out, the
African American man is Morgan Freeman. In this film, Freeman s portrayal of the most powerful
man in the world seemed more presidential. There was a time when African Americans were
considered as weak and dumb. But those times have changed, and it is reflected on the big screen. In
fact, there have been several films over the past ten years that African Americans have shown as
presidents, or presidential candidates
For the longest time, one of the biggest taboos in film has been the subject of interracial relationships.
The best example of this taboo would have to be two earlier versions of William Shakespeare s,
Othello (1952, 1965) a story that deals with the subject of interracial romance. In both cases, white
actors in black face were cast to play the famous Moor of Venice (1952, 1965). But, nowadays story
has changed, a black actor playing a black character and the climate of films has also changed,
something as little as a kiss between a black man and a white woman on screen. The African American
image in the past that had been perpetuated by Yaphet Frederick Kotto as criminal has changed to
loving role of African American. In 1999 s The

Not A Student Loan For College Essay
Abstract
The decision to attend college for most individuals yield promise of advancement in being able to
further one s learning, and assists with developing a marketable educational portfolio from an
institution of reputed academia. However, with the pursuit of obtaining a college degree from a
university, there are augmented concerns with student loans and repayment issues. In electing to
secure a student loan for college, prospective students or parents should realistically, forecast or
measure probable (anticipated) student debt. In particularly, with students aspiring to attend college,
several organizations or subsidiaries, and for profit institutions cash in on unknowledgeable hopefuls
contributing to the student loan debt dilemma/crisis (or student debt). The college costs and financial
constraints for student borrowing, if ill prepared will substantially effect students in pre graduate or
even post grad status. The findings suggest that there is eminence of the possibility of default, with
repayment behavior which effects long term financial outlook. In examining the data on cumulative
debt, number and characteristics of borrowers, types of institutions, and repayment dynamics there are
unsettles that arise in the gest of student borrowing. Keywords: student debt, college, repayment
issues, loan, borrowing Student Loan Repayment Issues Increasingly, in the United States it is not

Ten years later, the one location had become five, and the company began importing their own blends of coffee. The legend surrounding the birth of Starbucks tells of Howard Schulz, one of the company s buyers, making a trip to Italy in 1983, and being astounded to learn that the Country had more than 200,000 cafés selling espresso coffee and that Milan, a city the size of Philadelphia, had more than 1,500. But in the first half of the 20th Century, it wasn t just highbrow culture that was discussed in New York or European capital cities. Cafés were a magnet for bohemians with their disorderly lives, bourgeois women who were in search of adventure and models who d appear in sophisticated clothes and jewels, like those featured in the photos by Cecil Beaton for Vogue. These were the cafés for the sophisticated avant garde culture made up of beautiful people and bright young things , a generation that would become immortalized with the name Café Society , which was a term coined by the columnist for the New York American, Maury Paul, whose writings inspired the 1938 film by Paramount Pictures, Cafe Society. In the U.S, the rise of Cafe Society coincided with the end of Prohibition (December, 1933) and the growing popularity of photojournalism. It put someone who is supposed to be admired and looked up to down in the gutter, somewhere you d never think a hero belongs. There s also the subject of Ant Man and his wife, The Wasp s story. At one point Hank Pym was actually using his technology to forcibly shrink her and basically slap her around. An abusive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was years ago before let s say the last 10 years. Nowadays, we just have too many people with soft skin demanding that X Y and Z happen in comics because it hurts their feelings. It s caused Marvel to scramble and make weird decisions, the most important of which to me is the re branding of a character. I m mainly talking about Miles Morales and Lady Thor. To re skin a character with a different gender or race is not being legitimately influential to those groups, in my opinion. It s forcing something to happen to simply pander to people whining on the internet. There have already been successful and well written black and female characters in Marvel before. Luke Cage, Black Panther, Blade, Bishop of the X Men, She Hulk, Jean Grey, Storm, Invisible Woman, Scarlet Witch...all of these characters are very well developed and have all had major roles in various crossover events and within their own comics. It s not racist to say that it s stupid that there s a black spiderman. I mean when he was in the ultimates universe it made more sense because in the multiverse anything is possible, but now he exists side by side with Peter Parker. He even recently had a line in a comic where he literally said, I shit you not, I don t want to be known as the black spiderman . Well considering peter parker is alive and well...that s kind of all you are. You can t be just spiderman if the real original spiderman still exists. Makes no sense. As a result, it s kind of more insulting to me that they d even say that in the comic knowing damn well why he s known that way. Same thing goes for Lady Thor. They really had no good reason to make the power of Thor go to a woman, it was just the right thing to do for diversity! Except true diversity comes from writing someone new and interesting that captivates the audience and is also a woman. Not something Marvel hasn t done before, again. It s just insanely ... The development of a chariot originated in Mesopotamia before 3000 B.C. and it started to receive widespread attention. During this civilization, hill dwellers from north of Mesopotamia were sophisticated people because they created the chariot with good intentions. However, the use of chariots declined rapidly when new tactics were developed for warlike purposes. Although there are several deficiencies in chariots, it largely influenced ancient warfare politically, economically and socially. Chariots served as a great tool in a country. The promotion of a chariot received positive feedback from people because they found it fascinating. Many countries wanted chariots in their possession simultaneously, so this created job opportunities for people to produce them. It is very important for a person to have a job because they can earn money to support themselves and their family. According to Humphrey (2006), chariot makers used materials such as a hard, dense wood, little prone to cracking, for the hub: a straight, tough, inflexible timber for the spokes; and a straight grained, easily bent timber for the felloe (pg.135). This is especially true because a lot of the tax avoidance schemes these large entities are involved in are such complex matters that even HMR C struggle to unravel them. It seems like the Corporations are able to get away with it because, in an interview with Liberal Democrats Treasury spokesman, Vince Cable, he stated that Banks and other Corporations use the finest legal brains money can buy to avoid tax, but HM Revenue Customs is underpaid and overstretched, so it is far from a level playing field. The story of Tom Brennan is a book about a nineteen year old boy named Tom Brennan who has his life turned upside down because of a car crash that resulted in two deaths and one paralyzed. One example of social justice in this book is the fact that Daniel was under the influence of alcohol whilst driving, thus causing the car crash which affected the whole town and making the town angry against the Brennan family, my second example is the fact that there was alcohol at the rugby after party, but I personally believe it is one hundred percent ok with alcohol at the party, it just has to be their responsibility that they have designated drivers to get others home safely. The connections ,archetypes, can be found in the adventurous book The Odyssey. Ancient greek culture is brought up by Homer through archetypes. In the Odyssey, topics such as terrifying monsters , love tests, and an unstoppable hero are all related to ancient greek culture. The Odyssey shows archetypes that also reveal this culture. Three archetypes found are monsters, loyalty, and a hero which shows ancient greek culture for modern readers. Skull crushing and blood thirsty monsters is a common fear and an archetype. For example, in the article Monster Archetypes in the Odyssey, it states the most famous is Polyphemus, the dreaded Cyclops . Polyphemus is a massive and spine chilling monster. The means of production are resources necessary to ensure survival, and the relations of productions are the very social relations that people enter into within the established economy which benefit survivability (e.g. forming families). The combination of the means of production and the relations of production results in the mode of production, or the method by which a society is [currently] run. In their materialist reading of history, Marx and Engels proclaim that with the necessity for survival driving history/ and man to the development of social interaction and thus the establishment of the economy, staged progressions will come forth as a result. To Marx the economy will ultimately be responsible for all aspects of society. It will be from the development, and circumstance stemming forth from such development of the economy, that the stages of history will progress. And as such to Marx and Engels Capitalism will be a stopping point upon this staged progression route of history. In this way it is concluded that Capitalism is a mode of production stemming from the economy [means and relations of production], which in itself is a result of the history of materialism [the innate struggle for survival and the social relations built upon this struggle]. • 27. Development of a Prenatal Baby Shannon was born at 23 weeks gestation and weighed only 1 pound 7 oz. She was hospitalized for five month, and this experience itself is a concern for developmental delays. She is now 12 months of age chronologically, and 9 months developmentally. Shannon s areas of concern are her visual impairment as well as developmental delays in motor, cognitive, communication and social and emotional areas. Shannon appears to be in the neonate stage of development regardless of her chronological and developmental age; due to her under developed respiratory system, digestive system, cognitive, communication and motor system. Regarding communication, receptive language is an area of concern; I would say Shannon although 9 months developmental age is functioning at a developmental age of 3 5 months in this area: turning her head to sounds and watching faces of a speaker. Shannon has shown receptive communication for example; the sound of a rattle which Beth places in her hand and helped shake. Evidence of developmental stage in the 3 5 month range from the case study; Shannon turned her head away from the window and toward Beth and Shannon s attempt to maintain focus on Beth s face. Second area of concern is fine motor; Shannon is at1 2 month developmental age evident through the fact that she can hold a grasp on an object, but cannot release it voluntarily. In the gross motor category, Shannon is also at1 2 month developmental age. Shannon lacks postural controls, and has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of these was what to do about Catiline and his conspirators. Cicero had made a law that prohibited people from running for legislatures to not be able to bribe voters in order to get elected. Catiline, while running for a position in the legislature, knew that this law had been partially made because of him. Catiline wanted to obtain consulship and overthrow the Roman government. Cilia Essay Cilia; An Essential Motility Centre Whose Defects Are Implicated in Many Diseases In the summer of 1674, the Dutch scientist Antoni van Leeuwenhoek looked through a homemade microscope at a sample of rain water and revolutionized the human view of the world. What he found was little legs that we now know are the cilia that many single celled protozoa use for locomotion. Almost exactly 300 years later, the observations of Swedish scientists Afzelius led to another paradigm shift, when he linked defects in the machinery required for the movement of human cilia to Kartagener s syndrome (KS), a disease characterized by chronic sinus and respiratory infections; male infertility; and, incredibly, the misplacement of the heart and other organs (Brown Whitman 2014). He too came up with the hypothesis that the existence of so called sensory hairs protruding from the cell surface into the extracellular space was to explain the poor sense of smell and decreased hearing ability in patients with KS (Pennekamp et al. Another possibility is that there were two stories being told and the writer could not decide which one to put in the bible, so he put both. Though there are two clashing stories, the basic idea for this story of creation can still be seen. This might explain why Genesis 1 has a broader spectrum of creation and why Genesis 2 focuses mainly on the creation of man. In Genesis 1 the names of man are not even mentioned. In Genesis 2 however we come to learn that their names are Adam (male) and Eve (female). Also in Genesis 2 we learn exactly how Eve is created; Goad takes a rib from Adam and makes Eve from that rib. Then she is called woman, because she is made from man (Gen 2:23). This appears nowhere in Genesis 1. Another possibility is that Genesis was also put in the Bible to show us how important the creation of man was. After all we are the only things that God created in his image (Gen 1:26). God makes a garden in Eden and puts Adam in the eastern part of Eden to care over and keep it in order. He then instructs him about what trees to eat from and which to not eat from. Before God makes him a helper (on the 6th day) he brings all the creatures to Adam to name all the animals and birds (Gen 2:15). Then God reflects back at what he previously made before man. In this film, Freeman s portrayal of the most powerful man in the world seemed more presidential. There was a time when African Americans were considered as weak and dumb. In fact, there have been several films over the past ten years that African Americans have shown as presidents, or presidential candidates For the longest time, one of the biggest taboos in film has been the subject of interracial relationships.
