Persuasive Essay On Acting In Hollywood
What do you want to be when you grow up? is a question that children get asked quite frequently.
Most of the time, a child aims big and chooses an extravagant career, like an astronaut, a police
officer, or a doctor. Obviously, it is impossible for a child to obtain one of those jobs at such a
young age. However, acting in Hollywood is a possible career for a child. If a child is talented
enough to be a star, then why not let them pursue their passion? While the life of being an actor
in Hollywood seems like a dream to most children, fame comes with many terrible obstacles for
some stars. Over the years, there has been a large debate on whether or not acting in Hollywood
as a child is as picture perfect as it seems. Hollywood is filled with tons of secrets. Why should a
child be put into such an untrustworthy environment? Acting in Hollywood is in no way safe for
children. News outlets are full of stories about former child stars who have gone wild. Some
stars develop destructive partying habits at a young age. How do young, innocent stars learn
about the use of drugs and alcohol? They are invited to big Hollywood parties where they are
introduced to substances that lead to addiction. During adolescence, a child is still learning who
they are and love to experiment. Experimentation is healthy for a young mind, but substances like
drugs and alcohol can affect a developing mind negatively. Addiction is a tough obstacle to
overcome, but it is even more difficult to defeat

Results of Advancements in Technology Essay
In today s society, modern technology is evidently developing rapidly and it is portrayed as a
negative impact. It can be seen that technology is a substitution of all characteristics of life. The
purpose of every technological invention is to benefit the lives of mankind; thus re enforcing the
positive connotation of technology. However, in long term it may not be beneficial; such as,
education, work and leisure are all becoming dependent on technology; cyberspace is dangerous
and child obesity is increasing.
Education, work and leisure are all progressively becoming dependent on being able to interact
with technology. In society today, technology is appreciated and considered to be a valuable
addition to civilization. It affects the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though, it can be an advantage for the society, but it is demolishing traditions in the long run. This
is evident that technology id suppressing a negative impact to the society.
Cyberspace is a non physical environment created by computers interoperating on a network.
People can interact in ways that are similar to reality, but does not require physical movement
beyond typing. Advanced technology established this parallel world, cyberspace . This can be
convenient for people to chat, shop, share, explore or research online, but it can also be a
disadvantage at the same time. The prime examples of the disadvantages are, people are able to
create fake, imaginative identities and use it to abuse others and this can lead to serious issues,
such as sexual abuse or child grooming; and since, the Internet can be recognised as a parallel
world to reality, this discourages people to have face to face human interaction. Consequently,
cyberspace can be harmful to all people, because there are hardly any restrictions on the Internet.
Technology inaugurated this and it is having an inimical influence on the majority of people who
have access to the Internet on a daily basis.
This modern society has, without a doubt, adapted to technology; which makes it difficult to
visualise life with anything technological. This significantly influences children in a negative
impact, seeing as technology takes up of all

News Media Bias Essay
News media has a largely, overwhelming influence on Americans in this day and age. Over the
years, audiences have been exposed to various types of broadcast journalism, each with their own
forms of bias to generate attention towards various topics. The audience perceive bias in news
media program. An in depth analysis of bias on opinionated news compared to non opinionated
news is key to figuring out how the news mediamay be sensationalizing a problem. The apparent
goal of some American news media particularly cable news shows and talk radio is to stimulate a
problem.
According to one news source, What works in cable television news is not an objective analysis
of the day s events but hard nosed, unstinting advocacy of a specific point of view on a sizzling
hot topic . Although individuals may turn on the television to get information on current events
and issues, they are likely to get the station s detailed, bias, perspective on it instead. One
instance where this has occurred is on the Bill O Reilly Show, which airs on fox. It is claimed
that 97% of the stories mentioned on the show are a result of O Reilly s own opinions and beliefs.

With these form of news media, there is much drama and imagery that is capable of stirring ones
emotions. For example, television coverage of a natural disaster evokes a much stronger
emotional impression than print coverage. These impressions can remain with people for a long
time and influence their views on political issues. For many Americans, television is a primary
source of news, compared to others such as newspapers and radio. This was highly evident
between the 2000 and 2004 U.S. presidential campaigns, where the percentage of people reported
watching broadcast news dropped from 45 to 35%, whereas the percentage of people who watched
cable news increased from 34 to 38%

Desperate Housewives Essay
Media today gives us gender stereotypes. From movies to television to even music videos, the
entertainment industry gives people the image that males are more dominate over females by
showing females as the foremost parental figure, homemakers, and sex objects. However, ABC s
new hit show Desperate Housewives quickly made a dent in American pop culturenot for these
gender stereotypes, but the truth behind the most dominant female stereotype of housewives.
Desperate Housewives goes behind the scenes into the secret lives of housewives in a perfect
suburb. From the outside, everything looks perfect: perfect familyhouses with the white picket

However, once you get past the image, it is another story. Past the closed door, after normal
hours, there is a life that these women have that no one else knows about. This makes this show
different than the others out there that put down the female figure, by doing it in a different
way of showing their problems more than just making them a powerless figure. Instead of
showing all the women as June Cleaver clones, they show the reality of the stress housewives go
through trying to keep their image intact. Susan is just desperate for love, and is a big klutz
when it comes to it, the leading cause for all her mistakes. Gabrielle, while having the life of her
dreams, is having an affair with the 17 year old that mows her lawn and most recently is trying
to find ways to keep her mother in law from telling her husband. Bree s perfectionism is the
cause of all her problems. She tries her best to keep her perfect image of the perfect family up,
but it is what is driving her husband away. She s such a perfectionist that she doesn t want anyone
to know that they are in marriage counseling. Lynette has become so overwhelmed with the stress
of caring for her four kids that she s become addicted to their ADD medication. She has realized
her addiction and has a breakdown when she tries to relax, but her children never give her the
chance. After she gets a chance to get away, the other women go looking for her, and in a short
scene, Lynette tells them that

The Old English Proverb, Aesop For Children
Catalyzing Innovation The old English proverb, Aesop for Children, tells the story of a father who
charges his sons to break a bundle of sticks one by one. They easily do so. Then he charges them to
break the united bundle of sticks. None come close. This is a proverb demonstrating the strength in
unity and coordination. This is a proverb an American engineer and inventor largely upheld
throughout the course of his life s accomplishments. Douglas Engelbart, largely known as the
inventor of the mouse, affected the history of computing technology in a much deeper manner.
Rather a chronological account of Engelbart s entire life, this research paper analyzes his greatest
accomplishments in a chronological order that directly supported the increased coordination of user
s efforts. Douglas Engelbart transcended the limits of computing technology by aligning human
minds with computing systems through his collaborative user interface scheme. In order to
properly highlight Engelbart s accomplishments, some context is needed in which he developed his
collaborative user interface scheme. In the late 1950s Engelbart joined Stanford Research Institute
and there he proposed his vision in a research proposal titled Augmenting Human Intellect: A
Conceptual Framework. This extensive document poses a hypothesis that the intellectual capacity
of a human can be improved with an engineered approach restructuring the components of our
system of comprehension. The framework is best described

Argumentative Essay On Gay Rights
The bible is a collection of accounts, the first of these were compiled over 3500 years ago and
the full bible was first compiled around 1900 years ago. So can this book which was written in
an age with crucifixion and inequality be applicable to a society now driven by phones and jet
flights? It is a comfort to many an enemy to others but can it help untangle the mystery of modern
life and help you find a deeper meaning and purpose for the things you do on earth. This is the
question that i m going to be giving my opinion on in this piece.
Gay rights is something that many in the twenty first century have strived to achieve for people.
However written in the bible (NIV, 1st corinthians 6:9 11) Neither the sexually immoral nor
idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor
drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. this was written by paul
one of jesus s apostles who had been taught by jesus himself. This quote from the bible shows that
society has changed a lot since the writing of the bible and some of the views expressed in the bible
are no longer applicable to modern life.
The core morals that are in the bible are still applicable today even more today than maybe be
before as there is growing social unrest , crime is increasing and the wage gap is increasing. One
of the main rules spoken by jesus himself is love your enemies , bless them that curse you, do good
to them that hate you, and pray

Relationships With The Mandans By Thomas Jefferson
Relationships with the Mandans
Thomas Jefferson had just expanded the United States territory immensely. This purchase was
known as the Louisiana Purchase, which is arguably the best decision in US history. All the new
land resulted in several unknown questions. Some of them were, what does this land provide,
what animals are out there, who can be found on this land? To answer some of these mysterious
questions Jefferson sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the Louisiana Purchase.
They also were sent to form learn and form relationships with the people all ready on the land they
are about to explore. One of their stops on their journey was at what now is known as Fort Mandan,
in Bismarck, North Dakota. Here is where Lewis and Clark s relationship with the Mandan tribe
was crucial because their next steps have never been explored by whites. Only the Indians knew
what the land looked like from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean. The Mandan tribe was able to
show the explorers areas of the land that was just bought by the United States of America. Between
both the white explorers and the Mandan tribe they both benefited from their relationships they
formed over the winter months of 1804 because Lewis and Clark did not anticipate spending the
winter in North Dakota.
Seasons have changed and the Missouri river was starting to freeze over; this caused Lewis and
Clarks exploration to halt for the winter. The explorers were able to find a camping site on the North

Deadly Nerve Gases
In The Nazi origins of deadly nerve gases, Sarah Everts explores the discovery of one of the most
deadly chemical weapons, nerve gas. Nerve gas was unintentionally discovered by a German
chemist named Gerhard Schrader while trying to produce a new insecticide. The combination of
phosphorus and cyanide led to the discovery of the toxic nerve agent tabun, which interested the
German military1. Soon after, the German military recruited Schrader and he began to synthesize
a new nerve agent that was twice as toxic as tabun called sarin. The name of the nerve agent is an
acronym composed of the last names of the scientists that help produce it: Schrader, Otto Ambros,
Gerhard Ritter, and Hans Jurgen von der Linde1. Moreover, Richard Kuhn, a Nobel

It is Time to Legalize Marijuana Essay
The long standing prohibition against recreational use of cannabis in the United States should be
repealed. In addition, the penalties for possession and trafficking of cannabis should be abolished,
and cannabis should be taxed and regulated by the federal agency that controls the other
recreational, legal, yet addictive and potentially injurious substances tobacco and alcohol (the ATF).
Cannabis has been illegal since the Marijuana Tax act of 1934. Yet of a population of 284 million
(2000 U.S. Census), 70 million Americans claim to have smoked cannabis at some point in their
lives [NORML]. Prohibition of cannabis is therefore apparently ineffective at changing the habits of
a population, just as prohibition of alcohol was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, most marijuana smoked in the United States is grown in the United States [27
Information Plus]. In fact, across of the States farmland, cannabis is the number one cash crop
[Pollan; ONDCP], surpassing even tobacco. It is also important to note that the elicit cannabis
trade can be separated from the illicit hard drug trade (cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and the like are all
highly profitable and controlled entirely by armed cartels. It is much harder to justify the use of
these other drugs given the addiction and social ills associated with their use).
Given stark figures like numbers of cannabis smokers and amount of money spent to keep stoners in
jail, it seems ludicrous to argue that prohibition of cannabis be maintained. Yet despite of all the
credible scientific, medical and sociological reports indicating that cannabis prohibition is
damaging, or, at least, not helping the nation, public opinion of U.S. residents is counter. This can
be attributed to the multi million dollar propaganda campaign waged by the government and the
anti drug industrial complex. It may not surprise you to learn that major sponsors of D.A.R.E. and
similar (mis)education and advertising (propaganda) campaigns are often alcohol and tobacco
companies! The opposing opinion that cannabis should not be legalized is often based on erroneous
and outrageously wrong evidence. Statements that cannabis is a gateway drug, that it causes
schizophrenia and

Why British Men Enlisted in the British Army in 1914 Essay
Why British Men Enlisted in the British Army in 1914
When Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, Europe erupted. The Austro Hungarian
Empire invaded Serbia; Russia sends troops to its borders with Austria and Hungary. Germany
declares war on Russia and France and marches into Belgium and Britain declares war with
Germany and her allies. Although Britain already had a well trained professional army, it was far
too small to be able to stand a chance against the huge German army that was more than three
times its size. As a result of this Lord Kitchener immediately went on a recruiting campaign calling
on all men aged between 19 and 30 to enlist in the British Army. There was a huge response, ...

Posters were very effective and created a picture of Germans who would run their bayonets through
women and rape them.
Lord Derby had the idea of pals battalions , these were battalions of people who volunteered to join
the army in the same area. This scheme inspired local and civic pride, this meant that soldiers
would not just be fighting for the British Empire, but for their town or city and friend and family.
This was particularly effective as it encouraged friend to enlist at the same time, if one was left
behind there would be no one they new. It had a similar effect as peer pressure if you did not
join up you considered a coward by your friends. This worked well in North England and
Scotland, where places like Hull raised four regiments and three regiments from Liverpool went
over the top of the trenches on the first day.
Women too played a vital role in the recruitment process. The Order of the White Feather was a
group that encouraged women to hand out white feathers to men not in uniform in public as a
sign of cowardice the white feather being a symbol a coward. This really pushed men to go as
they would not want to be seen as a coward in public. The suffragists used their considerable
publicity machine to call on men to join the army. The mothers union produced posters urging
mothers to get their sons to enlist. Some posters published by

Take a Chill Pill
Imagine you took all of your money, land, and people, and threw them all into a flaming pit of
acid. Imagine competing in a war against the patriots. Well guess what they are both the same thing!
The war is causing the country Great Britain to lose the loyal people, money, and land. The British
Army is wasting time on beating these armies, who think they can compete with the best military
on earth. The Brits shall end the war, so they can use their military and money more purposely
and responsibly. Our army needs to take a chill pill. The army is antagonizing the rebels, and
they are doing the same to back. The only difference is that the patriots are fighting back more
fiercely. The article Redcoats and Rebels: the American Revolution through British Eyes, explains
that, After Yorktown Britain had little interest left for the war, the rebels were bankrupt and
economically they had little to gain at this point. On top of that, the French were putting pressure
on mainland Britain which is of course a larger worry and focus for the British. END THE WAR
(Hippert). The pats are now attacking the mainland, and using up the armies valuable resources at

If they lose this war, they might get a bad reputation. This is clearly explained in the following
example, Now that the Spanish, French, and Americans all had a fight against the British, it

Yorktown) The Brits are crazy, and all of the allies teamed up against them could destroy the
army. If the British end the war, they can save themselves from a big loss of resources and praise.

Southern Concrete Case Summary
In early 1987, L A Construction Company started building a bridge in Apalachicola Florida. As the
general contractor, L A subcontracted concrete delivery to Southern Concrete Services. The
subcontract required Southern Concrete to obtain a performance bond. Southern received the bond
from Fidelity Deposit Company of Maryland, and started supplying the concrete that same year.
According to the court, it is agreed that Southern failed to provide sufficient concrete to L A in a
timely manner and breached the subcontract in numerous other particulars (L A Contracting

Southern Concrete s poor quality of concrete and the slow delivery rates. On May 29, 1987, L A

White Privilege Summary
My initial reaction to this article was that of agreement. McIntosh describes white privilege
vividly as the idea of an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions and more. In other
words, a white person in the United States has on his or her back an invisible weightless
knapsack granting favored status, acceptance, and more. It was interesting seeing a white
woman s perspective on the topic of privilege. As I was reading I was reflecting on moments in
my life where I have whiteness white privilege and how it worked against me. I ve seen white
privilege illustrated at various time throughout my life. My personal favorite part of this article
was the list of daily effects of White privilege that the author complied. It was interesting yet not

was being portrayed was that privilege is real and whites are taught not to recognize privilege.
They simply go along with a system that is already biased in their favor, never noticing the

Causes Of Water Scarcity In China
Water scarcity in China Huy Nguyen 8M Introduction:
Many of cities in China are water stressed, with millions of Chinese in rural and urban areas
lacking clean, accessible water which is suppressing the growth of the Chinese economy and
general health. China s water problems are mainly caused by the wet and dry spatial distribution
between Southern and Northern China respectively, as well as wasteful usage of water and under
education in aqueous usage. However, this problem is being confronted with by NGO Lien Aid
which has helped build pipelines and taps for poorer areas of China.
Spatial Distribution China s main food source, rice, is largely grown in Northern China,
however, many of China s water supplies are located in the South with two of China s largest
rivers, the Yangtze and Huang He located there meaning there is insufficient water for crop in
Northern China. Due to Northern China being poorer, it has had to grow and export crop which
requires water, to the rich, wet South. With many provinces in Northern China such as Hebei and
Xinjiang exporting a large amount of water in crop despite having to dig 200m to find usable
water, this means that the already poor provinces which are unable to fix its water crisis have to also
export much of its clean water in crops to supplement income.
The west of China faces the Gobi desert meaning provinces such as Xinjiang and Hebei are
desperately stressed

1.Describe the shape of a graph of an object moving with uniform motion. (1) The shape of a
graph of an object moving with uniform motion is linear, meaning with a straight line and a
constant slope. Since, uniform motion means that the speed is constant and the object is moving
in the same direction, the graph will have linear data and its constant slope can be represented
with a line of best fit. In other words, the speed and the direction of the object remain the same for
all of the motion that the object does, which determines the shape of a graph with an object moving

and a constant slope that remains consistent in direction.
2.How is the speed of an object related to the shape of the graph? (1) The speed of an object is
related to the shape of a graph because depending on whether the speed varies during the motion
or remains constant, the graph s shape will be affected. If the speed of the graph remains the
same (uniform) the shape of the graph will be linear. If the speed of the object varies (non
uniform), the graph will have variations in the data for the position which depends on the slowing
down and speeding up of the object, leaving us with the outcome of a curve of best fit or a parabola
shape. The graph will be in the form of a non linear shape. The speed of an object s motion on the

The Effect of Schema on Memory
The Effect of a Schema on Memory
Psychology MSc, University of Hertfordshire
Abstract
Schema Theory is a principle in which cognitive processes are influenced by social and cultural
factors. According to schema theory the knowledge we have stored in our memory is
reorganised into a set of schemas which is based upon our general knowledge and our previous
experience. Experiments have proved that despite seeing and interacting with an object almost
every day, our ability to remember said object is greatly influenced by the schemas we already
have. This experiment will be conducted in an almost identical way to that of French and Richards

Method
Participants
The participants in this experiment were recruited through opportunistic sampling, the class
members of a Psychology Masters Course in Hertfordshire University. The class was made up of
both male and female students of a variety of ages.
Design
This experiment used between participants, experimental design as all the participants were in three

Religious Beliefs In Hinduism
Hinduism has arguably the most convoluted history of all major religions in the world; like every
other religion, it surely has been sculpted by a plethora of cultural pressures. But unlike any other
major religion, Hinduism comprises of innumerable gods, an untold amount of scriptures, and
countless rituals. Even within the Hindutriumvirate, which consists of three gods, Brahma, Vishnu,
and Shiva, who are responsible for the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world, people hold
different beliefs about what exactly they signify.
As one might imagine, there is an immense spectrum of artistic depictions of these gods. Yet the
icon emblematic to not only Hinduism but to India itself is the god with many limbs, adorned with
and framed by extravagant jewels and allegorical figures. Artisans meticulously craft their work
when depicting these gods, premediating every detail and their symbolic implications. Even so,
interpretations on these pieces may vary greatly depending on the beliefs of the person being asked.
Of the three deities composing the Hindu triumvirate, Shiva is the most paradoxical: he is both the
destroyer and the restorer, the great ascetic and the symbol of sensuality, the benevolent herdsman
of souls and the wrathful avenger. (*) According to Hindu belief, Shiva s destructive power is not
arbitrary, but constructive; he destroys the delusions and fallibilities of man to make way for
beneficial change. Shiva is therefore seen as the source of both good

Science In Between the War
From the sponsorship given the Casa de ContrataciГіn by Queen Isabella to the government funding
of many ongoing scientific experiments, science has always been heavily linked with politics.
Political power often collaborates with technological development in such a manner that societal
ideals reflected in the political regime correlates with the objectives behind scientific
development. As a result, conflict of political powers as manifested in war leads to an agitation
of scientific objectives and a consequent shift in material progress as scientific exploration
becomes oriented in a different direction. This leads to the creation of new materials targeted
towards increasing the advantage held by the patron country in the war of political ideals. The

Ethical Dilemmas In Nursing Practice
Ethical dilemmas will always be a part of our nursing practice due to such a diverse patient
culture. In some cultural groups, religion dictates the care that is given and by whom (Pacquiao,
2016). The purpose of this paper is to discuss an ethical dilemma that I have encountered in my
nursing practice and how the dilemma was perceived. Culturally congruent care will also be
defined. Describe an Ethical Dilemma Working in obstetrics and gynecology, the patient
population is all female. We see many Muslim patients from Arab countries. In any obstetric or
gynecology scenario Muslim women must have a female provider (Mclean et al., 2012). We had a
patient scheduled with one of the male physicians for the first obstetric appointment, where a
physical exam would be completed. When the patient arrived, her spouse informed the staff that
she cannot be seen by a male provider. The male physician was not familiar with this preference.
He was frustrated because when this patient presents to the hospital for delivery, there may not be a
female on call to care for her. Fortunately, there was another physician in clinic that day that could
see her so the patient would not have the inconvenience of being rescheduled.... Show more content

Methodology
A. Hydrolysis of Acid Derivatives
A.1. Acyl Halides and Acetic Anhydrides
One mL of water was placed in each two test tubes. The samples, acetyl chloride and acetic
anhydride, were added separately to the test tubes by placing ten drops of each sample. A
warming effect was noted from the reaction. The resulting mixtures were divided into two
portions. To the first portion, an amount of one mL of 2% silver nitrate (AgNO3) was added. The
formation of precipitate was observed. To the second portion, one mL of saturated sodium
bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and the evolution of gas was noted.
A. 2. Esters
To one mL of the sample, ethyl acetate, two mL of 25% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was added.
The mouth of the test tube was covered with a marble and was heated in a boiling water bath for
five minutes. The mixture was neutralized with 10% HCl solution. The odor was observed with a
wafting motion.
A. 3. Amides
One mL of benzamide was treated with five mL of 10% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and was
heated to boiling afterwards. The reaction of the gas evolved during heating was tested by placing
a piece of moist red litmus paper over the test tube. The observed reaction was noted.
B. Alcoholysis: Schotten Baumann Reaction
A mixture of ten drops of acetic acid, one mL of ethanol and five drops of concentrated sulfuric acid

Characteristics Of A Root Cause Analysis
A root cause analysis is a mechanism used to determine if procedures prompt sentinel occasions.
A sentinel occasion is characterized by Cherry and Jacob as a startling event that can cause
genuine physical or psychologic damage or the danger thereof. (Cherry and Jacob, 2011, p. 444)
The goal of a root cause analysisis to distinguish the components which brought on the sentinel
occasion and to recognize imperfections in the framework which can be adjusted with a specific
end goal to keep a rehash of the occasion later on. A root cause analysis is not used to accuse
people, and is not relevant when the occasion is deliberate, or brought on by carelessness or a
criminal demonstration. Root cause analysis concentrates on disappointments in the framework that
can be remedied (Huber and Ogirnc, 2014). Before starting the RCA, a multidisciplinary group is
chosen to survey the occasions included in the sentinel occasion. This group is regularly made out
of four to six individuals. These individuals would incorporate agents from Risk and Quality
departments. Despite the fact that including Nurse J. what s more, Dr. T. on the group will give
direct information of the occasions, they could expect that the RCA is being led to place fault on
them. Each individual from the group must comprehend and concur this is not the motivation
behind the RCA. The viability of the group will be decreased in the event that this point is not
unmistakably caught on. The four parts which should

We can see this in importance given to article in each paper. In The Guardian the news was
printed on the first page, whereas, it was printed on the second page of The Sun . The Guardian
focuses on the reaction from both sides. It gives us information of the situation and reactions
from his opposes as well as from Pinochet s supporters. It also focuses on the on the problems

being tried and it also mentions about the legal process. When we look at the article in The Sun it
seems to be biased because it only focuses on one side. It doesn t give us much information like
The Guardian . It focuses on how the decision affects Pinochet and the responses from his
supporters, like Margaret Thatcher and it has no mention about the reactions from the human rights
campaigners and the families of the victims. The use of headlines and pictures play a main role in
targeting the target audience. The headline in The Guardian article attracts the reader s attention.

Hyperbole Twelfth Night
The play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare conveys the way love occurs in different forms.
Twelfth Night is set in the fictional coastal European town of Illyria. The story begins when Viola,
finds herself on the coast of Illyria after a shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as Cesario and gains a
position working for Duke Orsino, who is deeply in lovewith Olivia. Olivia refuses his love and
falls in love with his messenger, Cesario. Orsino s and Olivia s love is selfish and persistent
towards Olivia and Cesario respectively. Viola is in love with Orsino but cannot express it because
she would have to break her disguise. After Antonio rescues Sebastian from the shipwreck, he falls
in love with him, but must conceal his love the homosexual relationship would be unacceptable.
These ideas are portrayed through use of hyperbole, soliloquy, dramatic irony, aside and parallel
plots. The techniques prompt the viewer to apply the situation to their own life by extracting
personal morals from the text.
Selfish love is felt by both Orsino and Olivia for the majority of this script. Neither characters
begin to consider that the one they love may not reciprocate the emotion and they continue to
force their love in a place where it will not succeed. Duke Orsino believes that the love he feels
for Olivia is stronger than any love ever felt before and states this when saying. He is vain to the
extent that he believes that Olivia s heart only be fulfilled with These sovereign thrones, are all
supplied, and filled/Her sweet perfections with one self king (I.i.37 38). Shakespeare uses
hyperbole in Orsino s lines to display how extreme, dramatic and passionate his love is to the
reader. Twelfth Nightbegins with Duke Orsino performing a soliloquy which uses hyperbole to
portray to the audience his narcissistic and intense personality. Olivia possesses a similar emotion
but towards Cesario. She has previously hinted her love to Cesario time and time again. When she
openly confesses her love, Cesario states that no woman will hold his heart. Olivia expects that
Cesario will convince himself to love her when saying, thou perhaps mayst move/That heart, which
now abhors, to like his love (III.i.153 154). The technique mostly

`` The Day They Tied Me Up ``
Sharon Olds was born in San Francisco on November 19, 1942. At age fifteen, she was sent to a
boarding school in Massachusetts. Many of her poems focus on difficult childhood and the body.
As Olivia Laing, literary critic of several literary novels and publications, says, The physical body
is a document of being, physical experience is the primary mode of forming, and physical contact
is the primary human relationship. Like Whitman, Olds celebrates the body in its pleasures and
pains. She is a contemporary poet who focuses on autobiographical poems mostly of sexual or
violent nature and personal experience. She particularly resonates with women readers and women
s connections with family members and lovers of the past and present through physical, sexual, and
emotional means. She writes frequently about her sadistic, alcoholic father and victimized mother.
Her dysfunctional family plays an enormous role in her poetry, especially in The Day They Tied
Me Up. This poem is inspired by true events and the feelings and emotions felt by the poet during
a memorable aspect of her childhood. When Olds was eight years old, she emptied a bottle of ink
onto her parents bedspread and was tied to a chair as punishment. In perceptionby Maurice Merleau

The Common Complication Following Surgical Procedures
Infections are the most common complication following surgical procedures and are associated
with significant morbidity, mortality and increased cost in health care (Anderson, 2014). As a
nurse working in a surgical capacity this is a concern for the patients. Working for a general
surgeon, surgical site infections are not commonly seen in the office, however, it remains one of
the top concerns for the well being of patients. Many evidence based studies are aimed at nurses
who provide care for patients in the pre, peri, and post operative periods. Perioperative nurses
prepare the skin for surgeryto remove soil and microorganisms at the point of incision
(Cowperthwaite Holm, 2015). Surgical site infections are easy to reduce given the proper
guidelines for prevention. This includes skin antisepsis, and surgical hand hygiene and technique.
A National Patient Safety Goal set up by the Joint Commission is to prevent surgical site infections
(The Joint Commission, 2015). One of the ways this is done is through reducing bacteria at the
surgical site. Skin is not sterile, but reducing the number of bacteria on the skin may help reduce
surgical site infections. (Cowperthwaite Holm, 2015) The circulating nurse, along with other key
personnel, plays a key role in preventing surgical site infections. Proper technique must be used to
reach the highest level of protection, starting with skin preperation. Typically, in the operating room
setting, there are two skin

While Elizabeth I. ruled as queen there were three great wars: The one against Spain and two
rebellions started by each a Irish Earl, one by Earl Desmond, James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, and
the other one by Earl Tyrone, Hugh O Neill. All wars ended with a good outcome for the British
Empire, for example the the failure of the Desmond Rebellions.
First of, the most important war within Europe of that era. The war between Spain and England,
which also involved fights in the Netherlands, which later were known as Dutch Rebellion. The
war could be forseen at the latest when Queen Elizabeth I. was excommunicated by the Pope 1870,

England at that time didn t have half of this amount of ships, just 34 and over 160 merchant
vessels, which normally could not be used to fight. But with some tricks the English seamen were
able to defeat the whole Spanish Armada.
The war ended after the next king, James I, was proclaimed king. The reasons are simple: He forbid
all privateering and was also a Catholic Monarch. So Elizabeth I could never end the war against
Spain herself because she never intended to do as James I did.
Coming to the next fightings which all were before or during the war against Spain. The first one
were the Desmond Rebellions led by James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, Earl of Desmond in the 1870

The Necessities Of Developing Green Construction Project...
1. The necessities of developing green construction project management
With the continuous deterioration of the global environment and increasingly serious ecological
problems, it is imperative to promote the sustainable development of the earth. The high speed
economic development and urbanization promote the rapid development of construction industry,
expand the industrial scale, upgrade the industrial structure, and enhance the project quality.
Promoting the sustainable development of construction industry in line with the basic requirement
of energy saving and ecological protecting have become important tasks that are attached more
importance. Under the background of advocating sustainable development, the construction energy
conservation and emission reduction are impossible to ignore. Green construction and its relative
technology have emerged and become the hot issue of in future research.
Currently, the concept of green construction project management has gained popularity and
recognition, but there still exist a number of problems such as ambiguous consciousness of green
construction, immature management technology and poor working competence, etc. The overall
planning of green construction project is the starting point of the implementation of the entire green
construction project management. Without a high level of overall planning of green construction,
green construction project cannot be effectively implemented. In the green construction project, the

Are Cats Smarter Than Dogs
The Egyptians worshipped them, fish fear them, and they own the space around them like
kings; cats are small forces to be reckoned with. Do like cats or dogs? This question has haunted
every get to know me questionnaire ever since I ve been dubbed sufficiently literate enough to
know and write about these needless facts. Why every elementary school teacher saw this
question as the optimum way to ease the first day jitters is beyond me, but I digress. Recently I
ve decided that it really isn t a question of preferring one over the other, but rather it s you like
one and respect the other. Dogs are impossible to not like; they re large puffs of fur that contain
about as much intelligence as an infant while also retaining the endearing quality of I ll love you
forever if you pet me . Cats however, are cold, cunning, and judgmental creatures that refuse to
demean themselves with silly things such as utter devotion. When faced with these two polar
opposite creatures, it is clear which one demands respect. This is why cats are smarter than dogs; it
is their self awareness, ability to concoct schemes, and wholehearted refusal to submit to humans
that guarantees them a reputation of intelligence and prestige.... Show more content on

Comparison Of Beloved And Ceremony
Beloved, written by Toni Morrison in 1987, and Ceremony, written by Leslie Marmon Silko in
1977, have many overlapping characteristics. The two novels discuss finding identity through
culture and the importance of tradition. Beloved tells the story of an ex slave named Sethe and her
daughter Denver. They resided in a house haunted by the ghost of Sethe s child, named Beloved.
Beloved came back to haunt the familyin human form and attempted to tear the family apart. In the
end, Sethe s neighbors, who abandoned the family many years before, come back to exorcise the
baby ghost and rid the family of all of its misfortune. The title Ceremony is based on the oral

They use stories to pass down all of their past, including history, science, religious beliefs and
many more subjects. One of the poems goes like this: Ts its tsi nako, Thought Woman, is sitting
in her room and what ever she thinks about appears. She thought of her sisters, Nau ts ity i and I
tcs i, and together they created the Universe this world and the four worlds below. Thought
Woman, the spider, named things and as she named them they appeared (Silko, page 1). This
poem shows how poems pass down the Native Americans heritage from past to future generations.
This discussed how they believed the world was created, which is part of their religion. Silko uses
poems as her way of showing their oral tradition and they are used throughout the novel. The stories
represent the Native American understanding of the world for Tayo, even though the white
people tried to make him believe they were false. He became very confused for a long time in
his life, but once he begins reenacting these stories he reconnects with his community and feels
complete again. The stories take away his loneliness because his whole community shares them
because they have gone through similar experiences. The influence that stories have on his
culture is described like this, They aren t just entertainment. Don t be fooled. They are all we
have, you see, all we have to fight off illness and death. You don t have anything if you don t
have the stories. Their evil is mighty but it can t stand up to our stories. So they try to destroy the
stories let the stories be confused or forgotten (Silko, page 2). This quote is saying that the
storytelling is what is keeping the Native American tribes connected and if these stories are not told
anymore, then their culture will fall apart. Storytelling in both Beloved and Ceremony controls the
lives of all the characters and

Dehumanization In Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
This is, for sure, a symbol of Gregor s dehumanization. Although he still thinks that he has the
mindset of a human despite his transformation into a vermin, he is losing his human like
interests. In the passage before this one, Gregor was complaining about how hungry he was
because he hadn t eaten since before he had transformed, but when he is presented which
something to consume, he refuses it. Not only does he refuse it, but he is disgusted by it. Kafka
even goes as far as to say that Gregor loathed the milk. Milk was once Gregor s favorite beverage,
but he no longer wants it, perhaps because he transformed into a giant vermin. The passage goes
on to explain how Gregor is completely revolted by the fresh fruit and how he prefers to... Show

Throughout the whole story so far, Gregor has felt nothing but fear or concern for his family.
Now, he is finally showing that he is afraid and worried for his life. Transforming into a bug has
taught Gregor many things. He has learned that his family isn t really there for him too much, he
found that he is different from everyone else psychologically, and now he has learned that he
needs to protect himself. As Gregor runs from his father, he shows fear. He is afraid that he
harmed or possibly killed his mother, he is afraid that he shocked Grete, but overall, he is afraid
that his father is going to kill him. Gregor hasn t really communicated with his father in a loving
way, whenever the father is around, their interaction seems forced or very business like. He was
not concerned when Gregor was trapped in his room, he just did not want Gregor to lose his job.
Now, while the father knows that there is a very high probability of this bug being his son, he
still attempts to kill and harm him. The father lifts his shoes high, most likely to frighten Gregor
or to try to crush him beneath the soles. Later, he throws fruit at him, and an apple even becomes
lodged in Gregor s shell, handicapping him for a few days. This leads me to ask this question; What
are the father s feelings towards Gregor? Does he actually view him as a son or is he only a source
of money? Is he disappointed in Gregor? Would he prefer a harder working, more confident son?
The father is actually quite tough on Gregor, the same way Franz Kafka s father was mentally and
physically tough on him as a boy. Kafka s father was disappointed in his son, but he still pushed
him. The large soles of the father s shoes could symbolize how Kafka felt like his father always
metaphorically stepped on him and crushed his self confidence. The way Kafka describes how
large and strong the father looks is definitely symbolic of Kafka s own father,

Though those two causes mentioned above truly have effect on the behavior of the Urban
Management Officers, the third one is the most obvious and serious cause of abusing of power
and violence enforcement. Some indirect evidences show that some of the violate enforcement
events even happens with the acquiescence of the senior government. A common situation is that
the leaders of the Bureau only want their officers to clean out all the vendors on the street no
matter what they do to achieve it. Just like Ramzy said (2009), It s precisely because the Chinese
bureaucracy s idea of an ideal city doesn t include peddlers and street vendors that the [urban

enforcement event is exposed, they are always shifting the responsibility to their staff or some one
else and do not consider their responsibility of regulation. The events of abusing of power and

and punish the officers who break the law. The abusing of power and violent enforcement of urban
management officers is a tough problem with several causes and complex background, but it is not
impossible to solve as long as the government takes effective actions such as

Now it is clear to see why the unemployment rate has been closely monitored all the time, especially
at the time of crisis. The unemployment rate, after reaching its peak in October 2009, has been
declining slowly but steadily, as U.S firms keep adding more jobs to the market. There was a small
increase in unemployment rate in July this year (the Wall Street Journal, Aug 4th, 2014), but the
unemployment rate continues to fall in the following months, and finally in this September, it falls
to 5.9 percent, the first time it has been below 6 percent since July 2008 before the financial crisis
(The Huffington Post, Oct 3rd, 2014). In October, the employment continues to drop, reaching 5.8
percent at the end of the month (BBC, Nov. 2014). Most of people are excited about this falling
trend of the unemployment rate, believing that falling unemployment rate is a sign of economic
growth for the following reasons. First, according to the Federal Reserve, the natural rate of
unemployment in the United States is estimated to be 5.2 percent to 5.5 percent. Natural rate of
unemployment is unemployment that is inevitable in modern economy as people change their jobs
and industries emerge and fade away. Achieving the natural rate of unemployment is considered as
an indicator of a well functioning, healthy and efficient economy. An unemployment rate that is
approaching the natural rate of unemployment provides a strong argument of economic recovery.

Our Physical And Ecological Environment That Shapes Our...
In this paper, I will argue between our physical and ecological environment that shapes our society
and culture.
First of all, we already have a firm scientific basis by which to assess the effect it has on the
development of biology. For example, Darwinian science makes it clear that environment provides
the driving force over long periods of time, longer than recorded of human cultural history. Darwin
s legendary Galapagos finches, with their beaks each adapted to the differing food sources on
different islands, are a perfect example of the sort of determinism that some scholars fallaciously
wish to apply to the evolution of culture. But for culture, despite of popular cant about memetics
that does not evolve biologically.
As we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, the larger correlation between biodiversity and cultural diversity does seem to persist
in different studies of different regions. Such as, in Nabhan, Pines et al. in their 2002 article on
Safeguarding Species, Languages, and Cultures in the Time of Diversity Loss look instead at a
different region, the Colorado Plateau in North America, where the same conclusions appear to
hold, although in this case it seems that human intellectual culture (i.e., academia) remains hung up
on old ideas that no longer have any relevance to a genuine objective assessment.
Furthermore, the Colorado Plateau undoubtedly ranks among the top five American regions north
of the Tropic of Cancer in terms of linguistic, cultural, and biological diversity, as well as in
biological and linguistic/cultural endemism. Nevertheless there is not a single conservation plan
that takes into account both the cultural diversity and the biological diversity of the region. It is as

Analysis Of Heinz Ketchup
A Heinz Ketchup advertisement shows sliced tomatoes stacked haphazardly to form the general
shape of a bottle of ketchup. Towards the bottom of the frame, there is a crisp text that reads, No
one grows ketchup like Heinz. Through the analyzation of this advertisement, it becomes apparent
that the advertisement is effective and interesting in many different aspects, including form, content
and style.
The form of this advertisement reflects the artists intentions of making the product, Heinz ketchup,
seem healthier. The lines throughout are very clean and crisp which gives an air of freshness about
the piece. The implied shape of the ketchup bottle through stacked tomato slices is an innovative
way for the artist to show that Heinz ketchup

Lifting of Corporate Veil in Tort Cases in Pursuit of Justice
Lifting of Corporate Veil in Tort Cases in Pursuit of Justice
Introduction
Limited liability has been the prevailing rule for corporations for more than a century. It creates
incentives for excessive risk taking by allowing companies to avoid the full costs of their activities.
Strict application of this rule in all cases would lead to inflexibility and injustice, particularly in tort
cases. Therefore, as suggested by Stephen Griffin in the interests of justice and to prevent subsidiary
companies being used as convenient risk takers for their parent...the [corporate] veil must not
become immovable. [1] On the other hand, basing justice as the sole ground for veil lifting would
undermine commercial certainty. The facts of each case should ... Show more content on

Avoidance of Excessively Risky Behaviour
The prevalence of mergers and acquisitions movement nowadays has converted many large
corporations into highly leveraged firms. In order to maximize cash flow, these firms have a strong
incentive for excessive risk taking activities, which drastically increase the exposure to tort liability.
Carcinogens in the workplace, environmental harms to the surrounding and hazardous products are
all sources of massive tortious liability. [9] Very often, business firms would reorganize their
structure to exploit limited liability to evade tort claims, such as deliberately placing hazardous
activities in under funded subsidiaries. However, business ethics is a prominent contemporary
concept and issue in commercial context. In terms of public policy and public interest, it is of
paramount importance to deter companies from taking excessively risky activities, which cause
personal injury to innocent victims.
Tort Victims and Business on Unequal Footing
Tort victims are those who may suffer physical injury or harm. On the other hand, parent companies
of its defendant subsidiaries only suffer commercial

Reaction Paper On Birth Control
In between the years of 1914 up until 1921 of the birth control pill was starting to be developed.
Activist Margaret Sanger opens the first birth control clinic in Brownsville, Brooklyn, and starts
the American Birth Control League, the precursor to Planned Parenthood. A few years later, in
1934, an Endocrinologist Gregory Pincus uses a test tube and a rabbit to help develop a
contraceptive device. About seventeen years later, specifically in 1951, Sanger meets Pincus at a
party in New York, and this is where Sanger persuades Pincus to help out with work on a birth
controlpill. Meanwhile, in that same year another chemist from Mexico city, named Carl
Djerassi, creates a similar pill. He does this by synthesizing hormones from Mexican yams. Even
though pill has been invented, Djerassi isn t equipped to test, to produce, or to even distribute it.
This in turn means that Sanger and Djerassi are competing in a way. About a year later, in 1952
Gregory Pincus tests progesterone in rats. From this experiment Pincus figures out that it actually
works. Afterwards, he meets gynecologist named John Rock. Rock already began testing a
chemical contraception for women. The next year, Katherine McCormick who is a biologist, a
women s rights activist, writes Pincus a check for $40,000 to conduct research into furthering
research about the pill. From this large amount of money, Rock and Pincus are able to conduct the
one of the first human trials. The trials is based off of fifty women that

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Acting In Hollywood What do you want to be when you grow up? is a question that children get asked quite frequently. Most of the time, a child aims big and chooses an extravagant career, like an astronaut, a police officer, or a doctor. Cyberspace is a non physical environment created by computers interoperating on a network. People can interact in ways that are similar to reality, but does not require physical movement beyond typing. Advanced technology established this parallel world, cyberspace . This can be convenient for people to chat, shop, share, explore or research online, but it can also be a disadvantage at the same time. The prime examples of the disadvantages are, people are able to create fake, imaginative identities and use it to abuse others and this can lead to serious issues, such as sexual abuse or child grooming; and since, the Internet can be recognised as a parallel world to reality, this discourages people to have face to face human interaction. Consequently, cyberspace can be harmful to all people, because there are hardly any restrictions on the Internet. Technology inaugurated this and it is having an inimical influence on the majority of people who have access to the Internet on a daily basis. It is a comfort to many an enemy to others but can it help untangle the mystery of modern life and help you find a deeper meaning and purpose for the things you do on earth. A sentinel occasion is characterized by Cherry and Jacob as a startling event that can cause genuine physical or psychologic damage or the danger thereof. (Cherry and Jacob, 2011, p. 444) The goal of a root cause analysisis to distinguish the components which brought on the sentinel occasion and to recognize imperfections in the framework which can be adjusted with a specific end goal to keep a rehash of the occasion later on. A root cause analysis is not used to accuse people, and is not relevant when the occasion is deliberate, or brought on by carelessness or a criminal demonstration. Root cause analysis concentrates on disappointments in the framework that can be remedied (Huber and Ogirnc, 2014). Before starting the RCA, a multidisciplinary group is chosen to survey the occasions included in the sentinel occasion. This group is regularly made out of four to six individuals. • 30. Hyperbole Twelfth Night The play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare conveys the way love occurs in different forms. Twelfth Night is set in the fictional coastal European town of Illyria. The story begins when Viola, finds herself on the coast of Illyria after a shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as Cesario and gains a position working for Duke Orsino, who is deeply in lovewith Olivia. Olivia refuses his love and falls in love with his messenger, Cesario. Orsino s and Olivia s love is selfish and persistent towards Olivia and Cesario respectively. Viola is in love with Orsino but cannot express it because she would have to break her disguise. After Antonio rescues Sebastian from the shipwreck, he falls in love with him, but must conceal his love the homosexual relationship would be unacceptable. These ideas are portrayed through use of hyperbole, soliloquy, dramatic irony, aside and parallel plots. The techniques prompt the viewer to apply the situation to their own life by extracting personal morals from the text. Selfish love is felt by both Orsino and Olivia for the majority of this script. Neither characters begin to consider that the one they love may not reciprocate the emotion and they continue to force their love in a place where it will not succeed. Duke Orsino believes that the love he feels for Olivia is stronger than any love ever felt before and states this when saying. He is vain to the extent that he believes that Olivia s heart only be fulfilled with These sovereign thrones, are all supplied, and filled/Her sweet perfections with one self king (I.i.37 38). Shakespeare uses hyperbole in Orsino s lines to display how extreme, dramatic and passionate his love is to the reader. Twelfth Nightbegins with Duke Orsino performing a soliloquy which uses hyperbole to portray to the audience his narcissistic and intense personality. Olivia possesses a similar emotion but towards Cesario. She has previously hinted her love to Cesario time and time again. When she openly confesses her love, Cesario states that no woman will hold his heart. Olivia expects that Cesario will convince himself to love her when saying, thou perhaps mayst move/That heart, which now abhors, to like his love (III.i.153 154). The technique mostly ... As a nurse working in a surgical capacity this is a concern for the patients. Working for a general surgeon, surgical site infections are not commonly seen in the office, however, it remains one of the top concerns for the well being of patients. Many evidence based studies are aimed at nurses who provide care for patients in the pre, peri, and post operative periods. A National Patient Safety Goal set up by the Joint Commission is to prevent surgical site infections (The Joint Commission, 2015). Cats however, are cold, cunning, and judgmental creatures that refuse to demean themselves with silly things such as utter devotion. As Gregor runs from his father, he shows fear. He is afraid that he harmed or possibly killed his mother, he is afraid that he shocked Grete, but overall, he is afraid that his father is going to kill him. Gregor hasn t really communicated with his father in a loving way, whenever the father is around, their interaction seems forced or very business like. He was not concerned when Gregor was trapped in his room, he just did not want Gregor to lose his job. Now, while the father knows that there is a very high probability of this bug being his son, he still attempts to kill and harm him. The father lifts his shoes high, most likely to frighten Gregor or to try to crush him beneath the soles. Later, he throws fruit at him, and an apple even becomes lodged in Gregor s shell, handicapping him for a few days. This leads me to ask this question; What are the father s feelings towards Gregor? Does he actually view him as a son or is he only a source of money? Is he disappointed in Gregor? Would he prefer a harder working, more confident son? The father is actually quite tough on Gregor, the same way Franz Kafka s father was mentally and physically tough on him as a boy. Kafka s father was disappointed in his son, but he still pushed him. There was a small increase in unemployment rate in July this year (the Wall Street Journal, Aug 4th, 2014), but the unemployment rate continues to fall in the following months, and finally in this September, it falls to 5.9 percent, the first time it has been below 6 percent since July 2008 before the financial crisis (The Huffington Post, Oct 3rd, 2014). In October, the employment continues to drop, reaching 5.8 percent at the end of the month (BBC, Nov. 2014). Most of people are excited about this falling trend of the unemployment rate, believing that falling unemployment rate is a sign of economic growth for the following reasons. First, according to the Federal Reserve, the natural rate of unemployment in the United States is estimated to be 5.2 percent to 5.5 percent. Natural rate of unemployment is unemployment that is inevitable in modern economy as people change their jobs and industries emerge and fade away.
