The Pros And Cons Of The Madrid Agreement
bers of the Madrid Agreement. Secondly, besides the Paris Convention and Madrid System, there is
also a Trademark Law Treaty (TLT) that has been adopted in Geneva on October 27, 1994, that was
meant to advice contracting States not to burden the trade mark applicants or proprietors with
requirements over and above those laid down in the Treaty. The requirements can be in the form of
administrative requirements of the national offices of contracting parties by establishing standards for
registration, changes after registration and the renewal of trademarks, in an attempt to simplify and
harmonize procedures. In fact, the TLT had specified that other than cases of surrender of
registrations, matters like confirmation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, there are huge disparities of the national laws on trade marks of the Member States
which resulted in an adverse impact on the internal market. Therefore, the creation on a unitary trade
mark system in the Community was a logical development in the creation of a Common Market . One
of the earliest legislative in EU is The First Council Directive 89/104/EEC (hereinafter Harmonisation
Directive). The main objective if this legislation was to minimise the differences between the national
trade mark systems. These differences present barriers to trade and affect free movement of goods and
services, thereby hindering the development of a single market. The Harmonisation Directive does not
disturb the policies on procedure and is restricted to guidelines on substance. Even though the
Harmonisation Directive which covers a wide range of issues and is hailed by the harmonization
enthusiasts, the part such as the national trade mark office s ex officio managing of grounds for refusal
are still absent and not settled by the Directive. Therefore, in terms of single market requirements, the
directive s target of harmonization could still not be described as being totally in conformity with the
single market

Key Factors Of Successful Mitigation Projects Throughout...
Problem Statement Emergency managers in the United States have it easy compared to individuals
who work in the developing world. Although challenges like limited budgets or political will may be
universal problems, in places like Uganda, they are magnified. These areas are home to the most
vulnerable populations. Where poverty, little to no infrastructure or government services, and a lack of
access to education, create the potential for a disaster to inflict deviating damage. Mitigation programs
have the greatest potential for reducing the impact of such events. However, unlike the United States,
these countries often times don t have the resources to establish and maintain many types of mitigation
programs. As the world has started to become a globalized community, many industrialized nations
have recognized this need, and want to provide aid to these countries. Because of the reality that this
aid has its limits, and that every aid dollar is precious, it is important to be able to maximize the return
on this investment. This Research project will identify key factors of successful mitigation projects
throughout the developing world in order to establish a set of guidelines for future projects. With these
guidelines, valuable time and resources will be saved and mitigation projects will have maximum
impact on the communities they serve. This is not only a way of developing low cost projects to
developing nations, but it is a way of insuring that investors in these types

How To Write A Personal Finance Paper
Personal finance addresses the ways in which individuals or families obtain, budget, save and spend
monetary resources over time, taking into account various financial risks and future life events.
Personal finance might include checking and savings accounts, credit cards and consumer loans,
investments in the stock market, retirement plans, social security benefits, insurance policies, and
income tax management. Personal finance planning has five key components: Assessment, Setting
Goals, Creating a Plan, Execution, and Monitoring Reassessment. No one component to a financial
plan is any more or less important than another.
Assessment is done by compiling simplified versions of financial balance sheets and income
statements. Goal setting is done with an objective, that being to meet certain financial requirements to
include short, mid and long term goals. Creating a plan details how to achieve those ... Show more

A forty hour work week is not a right given by the Constitution. Americans that are successful have
always had to work long and hard, many times giving up the things they love to get to that point.
Remember, your goal is to get financial responsible so you can enjoy your life and not live paycheck

Stop spending every dime just because you have the mindset of what does it matter . What matters is
that you learn to set aside money, no matter the amount for savings. One of the main reasons most
people don t ever get out of debt is because the never budget for the unknowns. Then when the fridge
goes bad, you break your arm or the transmission dies you have to go to the bank or your credit cards

Winged Victory Of Samothrace Analysis
The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also referred to as the Nike of Samothrace, is a marble Hellenistic
sculpture of The Greek goddess of victory, Nike. Created in 190 BC by an unknown artist and
constructed with parian marble, it stands at 5.57 meters although the goddess herself stands only at
2.75 meters. The sculpture was discovered in 1863 on the island of Samothrace on a French
exploration led by amateur archaeologist Charles Champoiseau. In its original setting, the Nike was
mounted on the prow of a stone ship in a temple, and was assumed to be overlooking the sanctuary of
the great gods on the island of Samothrace. The sculpture has been displayed at the most distinguished
museum in the world, the Louvre, in Paris, since 1884. Even in its current condition, this sculpture
continues to inspire many across the globe with its vision of victory and triumph. ... Show more

Cognitive Learning
Abstract
Cognitive psychology has long been an integral part of psychology. It has a direct impact on how
educator s look to improve the teaching and learning process. (Huitt 2006) Much research is done on
how we process information. There have been numerous models created to help illustrate this process.
Metacognition is also important to educators in it allows a learner to judge how well they are learning
a particular subject. There are many ways that we process information. Theorists have developed
models of information processing. These models are a cornerstone for education. They provide
teachers with understanding of how their students retain the subject matter they are being taught.
Metacognition is also important in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cheese Over Fried Green Spinach (Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species) or

always review previous lesson to ensure that the students are processing the information. This can be
done by incorporating information from previous lessons in new lessons or repeating important
information in a variety of ways. (Huitt 2003) Metacognition is described by David Meichenbaum and
his colleagues as people s awareness of their own cognitive machinery and how the machinery works.
(Woolfolk 2007) This can also be defined as knowledge about knowing and learning. (Woolfolk 2007)
Metacognition is the application of the three types of knowledge discussed previously: declarative,
procedural, and conditional. There are three skills that are used in metacognition: planning,
monitoring, and evaluating. Planning determines how much time will be spent on a task, what
methods to use, what resources are needed, organization, what needs focused attention, etc.
Monitoring is checking with yourself to see how you are doing. Ask yourself if it makes sense or have
I studied enough. Evaluating is a judgment of the outcome. Metacognition is usually not required for
tasks that are routine, but is very helpful when tasks are

Why Was Edgar Hoover Reluctant To Pursue The Mafia Essay
In contrast, Hoover s rival from the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, Harry Anslinger, sent dossiers to the
FBI on over 300 high level mafia members beginning in the early 1950s. Somehow, Hoover even
remained reluctant to pursue the mafia after one of the most highly publicized mafia conventions took
place Apalachin, NY in 1957. This meeting was portrayed in the opening scene of Analyze This and
approximately 100 different mafia bosses from around the country were at this gathering. Yet, in that
same year there wasn t a single FBI agent stationed in Las Vegas. Likewise, only four agents from
their New York offices pursued organized crime in 1959, while there were 400 FBI agents dedicated to
communist subversives. Why was J. Edgar Hoover so reluctant to pursue the mafia? Obviously, no
one knows for sure, but many people have reasonably speculated that he had been blackmailed by the
mafia. Rumors about Hoover s sexuality have spanned decades. Several sources of those rumors were
pure gossip, but some sources came from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It wasn t until 1969 when Nevada changed the laws and allowed publicly traded corporations to own
casinos. The state made a common sense compromise requiring that only major shareholders be

rooting out the corruption of organized crime from legalized gambling. That change allowed greater
transparency which slowly collapsed the mafia s control of Las Vegas. In 1971, Harrah s became one

(#2) The Beatles In Mono Box Set It s not as complete as the stereo box set but it is probably an even
greater revelation because most of these mono mixes have never been heard before on CD and some
of them have actually never been released in any format before (not even vinyl LP!) This box set does
not include Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, or Abbey Road because those final three albums were only
mixed in stereo. These original mono mixes are how many purists believe these songs were meant to
be heard. And they have a good point! Those mono mixes were the ones that the band themselves
worked on. The stereo mixes were merely an afterthought in comparison. Another thing that may
make this box set a great gift is it s collectible status. There may be only limited quantities of these

Definition Of Exponential Distributions
A resulting straight line through the graph of H(t) would suggest that an exponential distribution
would be the favoured choice for these data, while a straight line through the graph of log H(t)would
suggest a weibull distribution for the data. Figure~ref{HazCumHaz}, for patients who filled in a
Home Care or both a Home Care and a Contact Assessment, does not support either distributions. Part
results for outputs from the exponential and weibull distributions for these data are shown in
Appendix~ref{AppendixB}. These results confirm the evidence from Figure~ref{HazCumHaz} and
show that neither distributions fit the data well. Therefore, formal modelling for the 3525 patients who

Further, stepwise regression is also known to pick smaller models than
desired~footnote{http://www.biostat.jhsph.edu/~iruczins/teaching/jf/ch10.pdf}. The criteria used in
the step wise variable selection process for this study was the Akaike information criterion (AIC). AIC
estimates the quality of each model, relative to each of the other models by estimating the information
lost when a model is used to represent the data. In doing so, it deals with the trade off between the
goodness of fit of the model and the number of parameters used. When using the AIC criterion, the
model with the least is the preferred model. After using the AIC selection process, any insignificant
variables which were selected by step wise regression were manually removed from the model. There
was also a need to consider the practicality of the model. Some highly significant variables resulted in
coefficients that were very small for any practical use. For instance, if a variable resulted in a
coefficient of $0.04$ then this coefficient would be $0.04 times$ the baseline hazard. This would
consequently increase mortality by a factor of $e^{0.04}$ days; which is $~1.04 times$ baseline
number of days. The resulting increase is very insignificant and could be ignored.
Table~ref{LowCoeffs} consists of 63 variables that were removed from

Understanding The Consumers Buying Behavior
Understanding the consumers buying behaviour is a complicated but essential task for all marketing
managements. It is vital to understand how people make purchase decisions and what drives them to
buy one specific product and no other. According to Kotler et al. (2013) consumer buyer behaviour
refers to the buying behaviour of final consumers individuals and households that buy goods and
services for personal consumption. It may be a costly and time consuming task to find out what, when,
where and how customers buy but in the end it is just a question of effort to be able to study these
issues. But finding out about the actual reasons, why consumers make specific purchases, is far more
difficult because the answers to this question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Responses are influenced by a person s attitudes, motivations, knowledge and more and can be
presented in purchase preferences, purchase behaviour or brand loyalty. The individual buyer
characteristics have a huge impact on final purchase decisions. Cultural, social, personal and
psychological factors all affect characteristics of a consumer. The culture a person grows up in is the
most basic cause of a person s wants and behaviour. Growing up in a specific environment teaches us
core life rules, values, perceptions and behaviour within the society. Decisions will be based on the
learned perceptions and life interpretation. For marketers it is crucial to know the cultural background
of their market and to spot developments to be able to meet the changing needs of their target market.
For example years ago the trend towards health and fitness opened a whole new industry sector to
push into. (Kotler et al., 2013) In football the original fans basically originated from the working class
but the consumers nowadays come from many different cultures, subcultures and social classes.
Football clubs have to take these changes into account in order to serve the consumers with the right
product. Therefore adaptions had to be made to meet the needs of the new growing audience coming
from the middle and upper class. To attract middleclass families, stadiums had

Rhetorical Analysis On Got Milk

to model their ad. Hayden has been famous since she was a child and she grew up healthy. She also

How Does HIIT Work?
High intensity interval training has become one of the most popular workouts for fat loss. Compared
to regular cardio, it produces better results in less time. On top of that, it melts fat away and helps
build muscle. Steady state cardio burns fat too, but it may also cause muscle loss and increase cortisol
levels. HIIT does exactly the opposite.

The Usefulness of Functionalism for an Understanding of the Family
Functionalists focus on the roles of the family as an institution and its interaction with other
institutions, such as the ratio of functions the family has to perform compared to those that other
institutions such as schools and the NHS perform. Functionalism sees the use of the family in society
and how it can take pressure from the government by becoming an almost dependent institution that
will help support its own members.
George Murdock analysed 250 societies and studied the purpose of the family, he came up with a final
definition; that the family performs several main functions. These functions help the individuals
within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Functionalist theory does not consider that the modern situation and success of institutions other
than the family has decreased the importance of the family and the functions it performs. For example,
the role of education is now limited to only children under the age of five, as schools provide the
majority of education for the younger members of the family from that age to adulthood. Reproductive
functions of the family have also been limited because it is no longer necessary for a family to have
both parents to create a child. This could be because of promiscuity or artificial insemination. Finally,
economic support within the family has also been reduced because the government provides benefits
for Old Age Pensioners, the unemployed and pregnant mothers, meaning that a family does not need
to support itself financially to survive as there are other options.
Talcott Parsons considered how industrialisation and advances in technology and social morals have
changed the functions of the family and he claimed the families functions were now limited to just two
functions. Firstly is primary socialisation , he believed that parents taught their children from an early
age what was socially accepted and normal behaviour in public. Primary socialisation also includes
teaching the foundations of language. The second function is to

Mount Aso is an active volcano in the center of Kyushu in Aso Kuju National Park. This volcanic
feature was formed by four massive caldera eruptions and is a product of subduction of the Pacific
Plate under the Eurasian Plate. These two plates are at a convergent boundary. Its ancient caldera
ranks among the world s largest, with a diameter of up to 25 kilometers and a circumference of over
100 kilometers. A caldera is defined as a cauldron like volcanic feature located on large central
volcanoes. This is a special kind of volcanic crater created by a magma chamber being emptied.
Mount Aso has also produced more explosive eruptions than any other volcano in the world. Aso is a
cinder cone volcano which contains felsic lava/magma. It also contains bomb rich basaltic pyroclastic.
Most of the explosions generated by this volcano are viewed as violent producing ash and blocks.
Mount Aso has not erected lava flows in historic times.

1. Lourdes Medrano is a strong advocate for immigration reform to strengthen the border and the
security manning the border. She supports her argument by showing how President George W. Bush s

leading the technological advance on the border. Medrano shows how President Bush brought
immigration reform into the spotlight, when roughly 1.6 million immigrants where entering the US

patrol has been steadily increasing 1.1 billion in 2001 to 3.5 billion in 2012. Medrano presents how
President Bush signed the Secure Fence Act in 2006, which authorized 700 miles of fencing. This his
directly contributed to 651 miles of fencing created by 2012. Surge on immigration reform has also
doubled the man power from 2001 to 2012, which is exactly what President Bush envisioned. With the
border patrol now being a division of Homeland Security and help from the national guard, they have

Analysis Of Cirque Du Soleil
Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company. It is the largest theatrical producer in the
world. For the APS 325 field trip, we attended Cirque du Soleil s latest production Volta. Volta has the
theme of freedom as a movement and self acceptance. It is inspired in part by the adventurous spirit
that fuels the culture of action sports. The story revolves around the central character called Waz who
is a popular game show host and has lost touch with his inner self in pursuit of fame. But over time, he
is filled with doubt and is reminded of his childhood memories of encounters with a group of people
called the free spirits who help him connect with his inner self. From the show, I noticed that there are
three primary groups of people who are defined by their key characteristics as well as clothing. The
first group of people are the Free Spirits who are driven by impulses and dreams. These group of
individuals are life and self loving humans who are always seeking to fulfil their potential and that of
others too. They are always on the run, breaking through and fighting for freedom, and inspire Waz to
embrace his true self. To show this characteristic, all the performers from this group are dressed in
extremely bright and colourful clothes as seen in Figure 1. The second set of characters are called the
Greys who are city dwellers that have accumulated the dust of inertia over time. The Greys are aloof

Beowulf son of the famous soldier Edegtho, comes to the rescue of Hrothgar. Hrothgar king of the
Danes, which his land is being attacked by a treacherous monster named Grendel. Beowulf is
described as a vigorous, fearless man of the Anglo Saxon times. Beowulf comes from a past

If there is a disease going around employees of the magazine could possibly catch the disease and so
may take off work for a while. This will decrease productivity and may also make other employees
sick if it is contagious. Employees may as well miss fellow employees and may also lack productivity

original foundation date is still used. However, in the case of TSB the bank is regarded as being

of the US market, it is still a good proxy for investment bank reputation in the UK. When there was no

Theme Of Isolation In Lord Of The Flies
Francesco Petrarch once said Man has no greater enemy than himself. It can be assumed that if man is
left alone, he is with himself; from that, the question, What happens if man is isolated, with only his
enemy to keep him company? can be posed. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, this
question is developed and given an answer, with the isolated setting bringing out the nature of man
and blurring the distinguishment between civilized and savage. The author used the setting of a
deserted island to illustrate the motifs of civilization and darkness through the effect it has on the
characters. The isolation that comes with crashing on a deserted island affects all the characters, seen
most dramatically through Jack. Being brought into this setting transforms the civilized choir leader
into a savage hunter and murderer who s given into his inner demons. When the boys first crash land
onto the island, they were proper English schoolboys. Due to the separation from society, however, the
boys start to regress, giving in to their more animalistic instincts. Jack starts off as the chapter
chorister and head boy who tries to take leadership of the tribe the boys form; he fails to do so, turning
him away from order and reason (Golding 22). He neglects his duties and turns his attention to
hunting the native pigs, prompting him to let the fire, their gateway back to society, go out; this pits
Ralph against Jack, who represent civilization and savagery

The Benefits Of Safe Sex In Schools
I: Introduction
There have been many debates surrounding the proposition to teach safe sex and sexual health in
schools. It is a topic that many people have very strong beliefs and opinions on, and with an
increasingly liberal, open minded society there has been a large push towards incorporating safe sex in
schools and educating students on what safe sex is and how it can be done. A large number of studies
that have shown abstinence only policies are ineffective at preventing pregnancy and the transmission
of STDs, however many people still hold onto the belief that when talking about sex in schools we
should be teaching abstinence only because the only way to prevent pregnancy and STDs is if you do
not have sex at all and teaching about safe sex conflicts with many student s religious beliefs. People
who believe in abstinence only policies, or no sexual education at all, also hold onto the belief that
teaching safe sex education in schools will cause students to experiment and have sex, whereas if they
were not exposed to the discussion of sex in school, they would remain abstinent. While abstinence is
truly the only 100% effective means to not getting an STD or pregnant, it is highly ineffective and
doing our students more harm than good.
II: History
Teaching safe sex in schools dates back to 1916 when Maurice Bigelow wanted to promote teaching
about reproduction and sex in order to prevent the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).
Bigelow also wanted to coerce students into waiting to have sex with someone they love, in hopes to
lower the number of people they have sex with, rather than having many partners (Carter, 2001). The
idea at this time was to teach sex to protect core, American family values; however, Bigelow s view
was incredibly progressive thinking. Sex had not been a topic of classroom discussion before this
time. III: Critical Media Literacy
The topic of safe sex tends to lean with political views. If someone who identifies as a conservative, or
tends to lean more to the right on the political spectrum, were to talk about sexual education, in
general they believe in abstinence only policies, teaching about sex at home and leaving it out of
schools, or omitting any discussion

middleweight division after struggling to make weight for fights in the welterweight division. In his
last bout, he looked impressive against Belfort, finishing him in the first round and winning
Performance of the Night honors. However, the fight was later overturned due to a positive marijuana
test. Prior to the Belfort fight, Gastelum dominated Tim Kennedy at UFC 206 with a third round KO,
cementing his place in the division. Gastelum, 25 years old, showed tremendous hand speed and the
ability to take a punch in both fights, making him a far more dangerous fighter than he s often given

him the potential to wreak havoc in the 185 pound division. Gastelum s only losses in the UFC have
come by split decision to welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and No. 6 ranked welterweight Neil

The Problem Of Teenage Pregnancy
Like Amy and Loeber (2009), when it comes to the ecological paradigm of teenage pregnancy,
Corcoran, Franklin, and Bennett (2000) also believe one s socioeconomic status is a huge factor that
contributes to this problem. A person s socioeconomic status a lot of times determines education,
expanded family size, single parent household structure, and lessened resources in terms of
employment and income. These three authors claim that educational performance and goals dictate the
potential costs of child bearing at a young age. Their studies have also shown that teenage girls
relationships with the school setting and poorer performance in school serve a greater risk for
adolescent pregnancy. Corcoran, Franklin and Bennett (2000) confirm, being part of a single parent
household seems to act as a risk factor for early pregnancy. Among singe parent households, conflict
within the family, stress, and less monitoring and control of children occurs, which the authors say can
increase the risk of teen pregnancy. In addition, teenagers experiencing family problems might be
more at risk for influence by a negative peer group that could potentially lead to motherhood at an
early age. They also claim support is indicated for parental control over teen activities as a protective
factor against teenage pregnancy that a lot of times isn t found in single parent homes.

My School Day Speech
Every day starts the same way. My alarm screeches at me to restart my cycle by getting up. The T.V
from the first floor, always on channel 12, blasts the news about what is happening around us.
Ignoring it as always, I sprint down the stairs into the kitchen to inhale the savory smell. My mother,
who is always on top of things, is preparing my breakfast. Making sure that I can never have a
peaceful breakfast, she ensures that I receive my daily speech. Do not talk to strangers, Rachel. Do not
reveal where my family is from, Rachel. Do not do anything where the police can be involved, Rachel.
Truly, after the hundreds and hundreds of times she has recited this speech, I suddenly lose the
meaning of those statements, but I brush it off and continue my daily round.
To continue my endless sequence, there is school, with teachers teaching the same topics every year,
with textbooks that seem like they were from the 1800 s. It s never something new, nothing relevant. I
always do what I am told, whether it is to answer a question or to explain why I chose that answer or
to always do my homework. I find it easier just to accept whatever is given to you and not fight
against it. Less conflict for myself and other people.
To conclude my school day, I typically take my bus home. Unfortunately, after a jammed locker
incident one day, I missed it.
Oh, so you re still at school? Well, you can call a taxi. Just be careful said my mother worriedly
through the phone. Hurry home. I can never understand why she is always on her toes for the smallest
things. It s a simple taxi ride, what can go wrong?
As I was waiting by the steps of the school, a sleek black car rolled up right in front of the building. I
guess that s the taxi, I thought to myself. Quickly, I walked to the car, opened the passenger door, and
sat inside.
Hello, Rachel, right? You were the one that ordered the taxi? The taxi driver did not seem to move
when he asked, almost like a robot. I hesitantly confirmed with a subtle yes then he drove away from
the school.
Daydreaming while looking through the window, I did not realize that the taxi driver was not taking
the usual route to my house. I firmly grasped my phone and my things in case of any

The Rna Interference ( Rnai ) Pathway
The RNA interference (RNAi) pathway is an important biological system that is utilised by many
organisms as a method of regulating gene expression. But what exactly is RNAi? And what is the
importance of its use and application in biology?
RNAi is a cellular process that actively silences specific genes. This method of post translational gene
regulation has been observed in many organisms including plants, fungi, some bacteria and animals.
RNAi inhibits protein synthesis of the target transcript by the use of small RNA molecules that target
messenger RNA (mRNA) within the cytoplasm following transcription by an RNA polymerase. RNAi
occurs during translation of the mRNA by inhibiting the action of Ribosomes that catalyse this process
within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon binding the two strands of siRNA are separated, with one strand known as the guide strand
remaining bound to RISC and the other strand being degraded. The guide strand then directs RISC
towards its target mRNA for cleavage (Zamore, et al. 2000). This mechanism is extremely precise as it
relies on complimentary base pairing between the bound siRNA and its target mRNA. This
complementarity allows RISC to bind to the target mRNA where the Argonaute protein catalyses it s
cleavage, resulting in degradation of the target mRNA (Fig. 1).
This mechanism inhibits translation of the protein for which the target mRNA codes for and therefore
silences that specific gene. RNAi can also involve the use of coded short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs),
which are larger dsRNA molecules containing a loop section which folds back on itself to form a
double stranded molecule contains a sense and antisense strain. The shRNAs are cleaved into siRNAs
when they bind to RISC and can also found in examples of exogenous introduction such as viral or
experimental insertion. The ability to post translational control of gene expression with a precise
sequence specific manner has been exploited experimentally in researching gene knockdown and loss
of function gene analysis.
In 2006, Andrew Fire and Craig Mello were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for
their work in RNAi in Caenorhabditis elegens. Their 1998 paper demonstrated RNAi of endogenous

Gaea married Uranus and they had children. Uranus was a bad father, so his son Cronus overthrew
him. Now Cronus was the leader, he married his sister Rhea and had kids, but swallowed them
because it was told they would overthrow him one day. Zeus, Cronus son managed to survive and later
killed his father and took over.
Commentary: Gaea and Rhea are looked at as the mothers who actually wanted their children to be
able to thrive, unlike their spouses. Both Uranus and Cronus were willing to sacrifice their children to
continue being the ruler. However, by doing this to the people they were supposed to love most they
created a tension between the family that was not going to go away. So, by trying to stay in power

Instead, he learn from their obvious mistakes, defeats Cronus and starts being the leader everyone was
waiting for. This connects to the story in the news right now about a Lion being shot in Africa. It
connects because the lion that was shot was the male, now if another male comes to take over the dead
lions territory it will kill all of the children to regain

Is Religion Good Or Harm Essay
Religion is and always has been a central pillar of society, However this does not mean it is a force for
good in the world. Richard Dawkins identifies religion as being viral and harmful, much like a
disease. He is correct as Religion has infected more people than any other thought or disease and has
killed millions of people, oppressed a variety of groups for centuries, and stunted societal growth on
multiple occasions. Some people may disagree and claim that religion brings about many great
qualities in people, which is not incorrect. However it has brought about far more harm than good over
the course of history.
As of 2010, Pew Research estimates there to be 2.2 billion Christians[1] and 1.6 billion Muslims[2].
These 2 groups comprise almost half of the world s population and that is not even considering the
hundreds of other faiths that are still practiced today. Pew also estimates that there are only about 1.1
billion people who are not affiliated with any faith[3], but some of these people still hold basic
religious beliefs and are just not associated with a specific religion. In other words, religion has

The Effects Of Music Education On Mainstream Education Essay
This research focuses on answering if music education has enough crossover benefit to include it into
our mainstream education. Two scholarly articles, a blog, a personal story and an online article were
selected and consulted to find the answer to this question. Many authors in many articles had minimal
criticism of music education and most were in favor of music education. Findings were that yes, music
education does in fact have enough crossover benefit to include it into mainstream education. Music
education may be time consuming and sometimes expensive, yet the benefits of self discipline, deeper
conceptual thinking, more developed brain function, and endless creativity of students makes it very
worthwhile.
Henry David Thoreau once stated, If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is
because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or
far away. People have different perceptions about everything, but some statements are simply fact.
Though fact may be fact, opinion and perspective plays a huge role in our society, especially the
education side of society. Everyone on Earth has experienced music in some way, but a question some
have pondered is, does music education have enough crossover benefit to academics to include it in
our mainstream education? As we explore the pages upon pages of research on this topic, it is to be
found that music education provides more than enough crossover

that little girls that watch the princess movies experience the fantasy and imagination provided by

assigned could either fail, succeed. The scope of the job contains extremely complex engineering feats
combined with a rigid timeline. The only path for success was to find a project manager well versed in
both aspects of the project. Instead Martens decided to split the responsibilities of the project with two
managers with different experience and subject matter expert qualities. Patil was brought his PhD
scientific experience to the table. While Wright brought the can do spark plug approach to the project.
The two will be instrumental in the projects outcome (Salter 2004).

This type of project required an organized approach to working out side of the normal confines of
Ford s production models. The bench mark for success is not in comparison to other previous projects.

Two Faced Characters: The Moonstone
Mystery is the key for interesting characters and therefore an interesting story. The Moonstone, a
novel written by Wilkie Collins, follows the mystery of an ancient Indian diamond, known as the
Moonstone. The Moonstone has made its way into the Verinder House on the night of Rachel Verinder

characters who migrate between being seen as the roles of victims and villains, therefore building up

Franklin Blake was a very confusing character for he had his French side, and his German side, and
his Italian side and so forth (Collins 47). His character could fluctuate from being a model of
determination and a spectacle of helplessness in a matter of seconds (Collins 47). He and Rachel were
in love, yet later in the novel they could not bear to look at one another, leaving the reader (and other
characters in the book) to infer that the Moonstone was behind their bickering. There were times when
Mr. Blake was innocent, and others when he appeared guilty. For example, Franklin Blake was
actually seen by Rachel, taking the Indian diamond out from her cabinet in the middle of the night.
You villain, I saw you take the Diamond with my own eyes! Rachel had yelled at Franklin later in the
story. But, the plot twist was that Mr. Blake could remember nothing of taking the diamond. With the

cliques. No matter the wins and losses I have had over the past four years in my high school career as
an athlete, group identification helps boost my awareness of the role leadership within my social
clique. Through sports, I have learned to hone in on the important cognitive skills like observations
and description, and the ability to interpret data such as stats. I also have the ability to tolerate
frustration and work in concert with others toward a common goal such as winning the event or game.

No Real Hero In Maus II
The Impact Of Past Events On The Present: No Real Hero in Maus Maus I and Maus II are graphic
novels written by Art Spiegelman which both make up a good story as well as attempt to understand
the human condition, sort it out and put it in its place. Lynda Barry, the author of One Hundred
Demons suggests that literature helps us to cope as if looking at our demons is a way to get to know
them, to befriend them and even master them. The story explores the nature of guilt, while exploring
traumatic events of the Holocaust through a survivor. This graphic novel also explores the impact of
the Holocaust and how it affected the lives of people who were born after it ended. Once reading
Maus I and Maus II, it becomes evident to the reader that there is no real hero in this story due to the
existing impact of past events on the present. In order to fully understand and appreciate the
importance of Maus I and Maus II, understanding what a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This volume really consists of looking at Vladek s demons and how he had to cope with them. This
volume also includes Artie s personal difficulties in dealing with the publicity he has gotten from the
publication of Maus I. In Maus II, Artie sees Pavel, a Czech Jew who is also a survivor of Auschwitz.
Artie discusses with Pavel the dilemmas he faces as the child of a Holocaust survivor attempting to
write about his father s experiences. This volume comes to an end when the Nazi war ends, and
Vladek and other prisoners are able to escape and make their way to Poland. German soldiers and
Poles continued to murder the Jews but Vladek hid out in various locations until American soldiers
arrived to protect him and the others in hiding. On the last few pages, Artie discovers that his father
has suffered another heart attack, and Mala has returned to him. While Artie helps his father, Vladek
explains how he and Anja were reunited after the

A Report On The Russian Hospitality Sector
Growth of tourism in Russia has been rapid, fuelled by the nation s rich history and diverse geography
along with a strong economy. Russia has faced a growth in both outbound and inbound tourism in the
last decade.
According to Hilton Worldwide (2012) Russia is an upcoming important market with the maximum
number of potential hotel openings planned than anywhere else in Europe. Accounting the vast hotel
market capacity of the Russian territory and its rapid development of the leisure and business travel
sector, the need to scrutinize its travel and accommodation market trends and to identify changes in
strategic developments of international hotel brands is of immense interest. This essay will analyse the
developments in the Russian hospitality sector, focussing on international hotel chains and shedding
light on the minority stake of local brands.
The hospitality and tourism environment of Russia has seen a considerable change since the 2000 s,
with a growing need and to fulfil the void of role of the service sector in the country. Recently, the
interdependent sectors of hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism have been boosted through
government programs and investments including Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in tourism and
recreation (Sheresheva 2012).
Upcoming events such as the FIFA World Cup which is to be held in Russia in 2018 and recent past
events like the UPEC Summit in Vladivostok in 2013, The Winter Olympic Games and Race Formula
1 in Sochi in 20141 has

Sarbanes Oxley Act 2002 An Introduction
1|Page Sarbanes Oxley Act 2002 An Introduction: Growth in the business world is the main goal of
every business in todays world, but growth should add value to the business and the investors.
Companies like Enron and WorldCom, which made profits through accounting scandals, fraud, and an
accusation of the limited disclosure by the company to its investors, improper corporate governance
and insider trading collapsed and wiped off the entire investment of the investors. This led to the birth
of Sarbanes Oxley Act 2002 on July 2002 under the President George W. Bush with the primary
objective of protecting the investors through full disclosure, accountability of management and
internal control system along with strict rules in auditing (SEC, 2009, p. 1). It entirely focuses towards
the behavior of corporate and the securities industry in order to avoid the corporate scandals (SEC,
2009). Section 404: Section 404 is the main section dealing with the internal control and more concern
arises with the increased cost associated in fulfilling the requirements of SOX 2002. Section 404 main
aim is in regaining the investors confidence by boosting the internal controlling system of the
company which is expected to be accurate and reliable (Goelzer, 2005). This requires all company in
submitting the effective internal control report with the SEC and an attested auditors opinion about the
effectiveness of the report. This section has following two provisions (SEC,

Secondly, besides the Paris Convention and Madrid System, there is also a Trademark Law Treaty (TLT) that has been adopted in Geneva on October 27, 1994, that was meant to advice contracting States not to burden the trade mark applicants or proprietors with requirements over and above those laid down in the Treaty. The requirements can be in the form of administrative requirements of the national offices of contracting parties by establishing standards for registration, changes after registration and the renewal of trademarks, in an attempt to simplify and harmonize procedures. Unfortunately, there are huge disparities of the national laws on trade marks of the Member States which resulted in an adverse impact on the internal market. Therefore, the creation on a unitary trade mark system in the Community was a logical development in the creation of a Common Market . One of the earliest legislative in EU is The First Council Directive 89/104/EEC (hereinafter Harmonisation Directive). The main objective if this legislation was to minimise the differences between the national trade mark systems. These differences present barriers to trade and affect free movement of goods and services, thereby hindering the development of a single market. The Harmonisation Directive does not disturb the policies on procedure and is restricted to guidelines on substance. Even though the Harmonisation Directive which covers a wide range of issues and is hailed by the harmonization enthusiasts, the part such as the national trade mark office s ex officio managing of grounds for refusal are still absent and not settled by the Directive. Therefore, in terms of single market requirements, the directive s target of harmonization could still not be described as being totally in conformity with the single market ... • 3. Key Factors Of Successful Mitigation Projects Throughout... Problem Statement Emergency managers in the United States have it easy compared to individuals who work in the developing world. Although challenges like limited budgets or political will may be universal problems, in places like Uganda, they are magnified. These areas are home to the most vulnerable populations. Where poverty, little to no infrastructure or government services, and a lack of access to education, create the potential for a disaster to inflict deviating damage. Mitigation programs have the greatest potential for reducing the impact of such events. However, unlike the United States, these countries often times don t have the resources to establish and maintain many types of mitigation programs. As the world has started to become a globalized community, many industrialized nations have recognized this need, and want to provide aid to these countries. Because of the reality that this aid has its limits, and that every aid dollar is precious, it is important to be able to maximize the return on this investment. This Research project will identify key factors of successful mitigation projects throughout the developing world in order to establish a set of guidelines for future projects. With these guidelines, valuable time and resources will be saved and mitigation projects will have maximum impact on the communities they serve. This is not only a way of developing low cost projects to developing nations, but it is a way of insuring that investors in these types ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why Was Edgar Hoover Reluctant To Pursue The Mafia Essay In contrast, Hoover s rival from the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, Harry Anslinger, sent dossiers to the FBI on over 300 high level mafia members beginning in the early 1950s. Somehow, Hoover even remained reluctant to pursue the mafia after one of the most highly publicized mafia conventions took place Apalachin, NY in 1957. This meeting was portrayed in the opening scene of Analyze This and approximately 100 different mafia bosses from around the country were at this gathering. Yet, in that same year there wasn t a single FBI agent stationed in Las Vegas. Likewise, only four agents from their New York offices pursued organized crime in 1959, while there were 400 FBI agents dedicated to communist subversives. Why was J. Edgar Hoover so reluctant to pursue the mafia? Obviously, no one knows for sure, but many people have reasonably speculated that he had been blackmailed by the mafia. (#2) The Beatles In Mono Box Set It s not as complete as the stereo box set but it is probably an even greater revelation because most of these mono mixes have never been heard before on CD and some of them have actually never been released in any format before (not even vinyl LP!) This box set does not include Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, or Abbey Road because those final three albums were only mixed in stereo. These original mono mixes are how many purists believe these songs were meant to be heard. And they have a good point! Those mono mixes were the ones that the band themselves worked on. The stereo mixes were merely an afterthought in comparison. Another thing that may make this box set a great gift is it s collectible status. • 10. Definition Of Exponential Distributions A resulting straight line through the graph of H(t) would suggest that an exponential distribution would be the favoured choice for these data, while a straight line through the graph of log H(t)would suggest a weibull distribution for the data. Figure~ref{HazCumHaz}, for patients who filled in a Home Care or both a Home Care and a Contact Assessment, does not support either distributions. Part results for outputs from the exponential and weibull distributions for these data are shown in Appendix~ref{AppendixB}. Further, stepwise regression is also known to pick smaller models than desired~footnote{http://www.biostat.jhsph.edu/~iruczins/teaching/jf/ch10.pdf}. The criteria used in the step wise variable selection process for this study was the Akaike information criterion (AIC). AIC estimates the quality of each model, relative to each of the other models by estimating the information lost when a model is used to represent the data. In doing so, it deals with the trade off between the goodness of fit of the model and the number of parameters used. When using the AIC criterion, the model with the least is the preferred model. After using the AIC selection process, any insignificant variables which were selected by step wise regression were manually removed from the model. There was also a need to consider the practicality of the model. Some highly significant variables resulted in coefficients that were very small for any practical use. For instance, if a variable resulted in a coefficient of $0.04$ then this coefficient would be $0.04 times$ the baseline hazard. This would consequently increase mortality by a factor of $e^{0.04}$ days; which is $~1.04 times$ baseline number of days. The resulting increase is very insignificant and could be ignored. The Usefulness of Functionalism for an Understanding of the Family Functionalists focus on the roles of the family as an institution and its interaction with other institutions, such as the ratio of functions the family has to perform compared to those that other institutions such as schools and the NHS perform. Functionalism sees the use of the family in society and how it can take pressure from the government by becoming an almost dependent institution that will help support its own members. The Functionalist theory does not consider that the modern situation and success of institutions other than the family has decreased the importance of the family and the functions it performs. For example, the role of education is now limited to only children under the age of five, as schools provide the majority of education for the younger members of the family from that age to adulthood. Reproductive functions of the family have also been limited because it is no longer necessary for a family to have both parents to create a child. This could be because of promiscuity or artificial insemination. Finally, economic support within the family has also been reduced because the government provides benefits for Old Age Pensioners, the unemployed and pregnant mothers, meaning that a family does not need to support itself financially to survive as there are other options. Talcott Parsons considered how industrialisation and advances in technology and social morals have changed the functions of the family and he claimed the families functions were now limited to just two functions. • 23. Theme Of Isolation In Lord Of The Flies Francesco Petrarch once said Man has no greater enemy than himself. It can be assumed that if man is left alone, he is with himself; from that, the question, What happens if man is isolated, with only his enemy to keep him company? can be posed. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, this question is developed and given an answer, with the isolated setting bringing out the nature of man and blurring the distinguishment between civilized and savage. The author used the setting of a deserted island to illustrate the motifs of civilization and darkness through the effect it has on the characters. The isolation that comes with crashing on a deserted island affects all the characters, seen most dramatically through Jack. Being brought into this setting transforms the civilized choir leader into a savage hunter and murderer who s given into his inner demons. When the boys first crash land onto the island, they were proper English schoolboys. Due to the separation from society, however, the boys start to regress, giving in to their more animalistic instincts. Jack starts off as the chapter chorister and head boy who tries to take leadership of the tribe the boys form; he fails to do so, turning him away from order and reason (Golding 22). He neglects his duties and turns his attention to hunting the native pigs, prompting him to let the fire, their gateway back to society, go out; this pits Ralph against Jack, who represent civilization and savagery ... • 24. The Benefits Of Safe Sex In Schools I: Introduction There have been many debates surrounding the proposition to teach safe sex and sexual health in schools. It is a topic that many people have very strong beliefs and opinions on, and with an increasingly liberal, open minded society there has been a large push towards incorporating safe sex in schools and educating students on what safe sex is and how it can be done. A large number of studies that have shown abstinence only policies are ineffective at preventing pregnancy and the transmission of STDs, however many people still hold onto the belief that when talking about sex in schools we should be teaching abstinence only because the only way to prevent pregnancy and STDs is if you do not have sex at all and teaching about safe sex conflicts with many student s religious beliefs. People who believe in abstinence only policies, or no sexual education at all, also hold onto the belief that teaching safe sex education in schools will cause students to experiment and have sex, whereas if they were not exposed to the discussion of sex in school, they would remain abstinent. While abstinence is truly the only 100% effective means to not getting an STD or pregnant, it is highly ineffective and doing our students more harm than good. II: History Teaching safe sex in schools dates back to 1916 when Maurice Bigelow wanted to promote teaching about reproduction and sex in order to prevent the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs). Bigelow also wanted to coerce students into waiting to have sex with someone they love, in hopes to lower the number of people they have sex with, rather than having many partners (Carter, 2001). The idea at this time was to teach sex to protect core, American family values; however, Bigelow s view was incredibly progressive thinking. Sex had not been a topic of classroom discussion before this time. III: Critical Media Literacy The topic of safe sex tends to lean with political views. If someone who identifies as a conservative, or tends to lean more to the right on the political spectrum, were to talk about sexual education, in general they believe in abstinence only policies, teaching about sex at home and leaving it out of schools, or omitting any discussion ... The Problem Of Teenage Pregnancy Like Amy and Loeber (2009), when it comes to the ecological paradigm of teenage pregnancy, Corcoran, Franklin, and Bennett (2000) also believe one s socioeconomic status is a huge factor that contributes to this problem. A person s socioeconomic status a lot of times determines education, expanded family size, single parent household structure, and lessened resources in terms of employment and income. These three authors claim that educational performance and goals dictate the potential costs of child bearing at a young age. Their studies have also shown that teenage girls relationships with the school setting and poorer performance in school serve a greater risk for adolescent pregnancy. Corcoran, Franklin and Bennett (2000) confirm, being part of a single parent household seems to act as a risk factor for early pregnancy. Among singe parent households, conflict within the family, stress, and less monitoring and control of children occurs, which the authors say can increase the risk of teen pregnancy. In addition, teenagers experiencing family problems might be more at risk for influence by a negative peer group that could potentially lead to motherhood at an early age. I find it easier just to accept whatever is given to you and not fight against it. Less conflict for myself and other people. To conclude my school day, I typically take my bus home. Unfortunately, after a jammed locker incident one day, I missed it. Oh, so you re still at school? Well, you can call a taxi. Just be careful said my mother worriedly through the phone. Hurry home. I can never understand why she is always on her toes for the smallest things. It s a simple taxi ride, what can go wrong? As I was waiting by the steps of the school, a sleek black car rolled up right in front of the building. I guess that s the taxi, I thought to myself. Quickly, I walked to the car, opened the passenger door, and sat inside. Hello, Rachel, right? You were the one that ordered the taxi? The taxi driver did not seem to move when he asked, almost like a robot. I hesitantly confirmed with a subtle yes then he drove away from the school. Daydreaming while looking through the window, I did not realize that the taxi driver was not taking the usual route to my house. I firmly grasped my phone and my things in case of any ... • 30. The Rna Interference ( Rnai ) Pathway The RNA interference (RNAi) pathway is an important biological system that is utilised by many organisms as a method of regulating gene expression. But what exactly is RNAi? And what is the importance of its use and application in biology? RNAi is a cellular process that actively silences specific genes. This method of post translational gene regulation has been observed in many organisms including plants, fungi, some bacteria and animals. RNAi inhibits protein synthesis of the target transcript by the use of small RNA molecules that target messenger RNA (mRNA) within the cytoplasm following transcription by an RNA polymerase. RNAi occurs during translation of the mRNA by inhibiting the action of Ribosomes that catalyse this process within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon binding the two strands of siRNA are separated, with one strand known as the guide strand remaining bound to RISC and the other strand being degraded. The guide strand then directs RISC towards its target mRNA for cleavage (Zamore, et al. 2000). This mechanism is extremely precise as it relies on complimentary base pairing between the bound siRNA and its target mRNA. This complementarity allows RISC to bind to the target mRNA where the Argonaute protein catalyses it s cleavage, resulting in degradation of the target mRNA (Fig. 1). This mechanism inhibits translation of the protein for which the target mRNA codes for and therefore silences that specific gene. RNAi can also involve the use of coded short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs), which are larger dsRNA molecules containing a loop section which folds back on itself to form a double stranded molecule contains a sense and antisense strain. The shRNAs are cleaved into siRNAs when they bind to RISC and can also found in examples of exogenous introduction such as viral or experimental insertion. The ability to post translational control of gene expression with a precise sequence specific manner has been exploited experimentally in researching gene knockdown and loss of function gene analysis. In 2006, Andrew Fire and Craig Mello were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their work in RNAi in Caenorhabditis elegens. Their 1998 paper demonstrated RNAi of endogenous ... Uranus was a bad father, so his son Cronus overthrew him. Now Cronus was the leader, he married his sister Rhea and had kids, but swallowed them because it was told they would overthrow him one day. Zeus, Cronus son managed to survive and later killed his father and took over. Commentary: Gaea and Rhea are looked at as the mothers who actually wanted their children to be able to thrive, unlike their spouses. Both Uranus and Cronus were willing to sacrifice their children to continue being the ruler. However, by doing this to the people they were supposed to love most they created a tension between the family that was not going to go away. So, by trying to stay in power Uranus and Cronus actually were the reason their family retaliated against them and took their power away. Finally, Zeus comes along and does not make the same mistakes and his dad and his dad s dad. Instead, he learn from their obvious mistakes, defeats Cronus and starts being the leader everyone was waiting for. This connects to the story in the news right now about a Lion being shot in Africa. • 32. Is Religion Good Or Harm Essay Religion is and always has been a central pillar of society, However this does not mean it is a force for good in the world. Richard Dawkins identifies religion as being viral and harmful, much like a disease. He is correct as Religion has infected more people than any other thought or disease and has killed millions of people, oppressed a variety of groups for centuries, and stunted societal growth on multiple occasions. Some people may disagree and claim that religion brings about many great qualities in people, which is not incorrect. However it has brought about far more harm than good over the course of history. As of 2010, Pew Research estimates there to be 2.2 billion Christians[1] and 1.6 billion Muslims[2]. These 2 groups comprise almost half of the world s population and that is not even considering the hundreds of other faiths that are still practiced today. Pew also estimates that there are only about 1.1 billion people who are not affiliated with any faith[3], but some of these people still hold basic religious beliefs and are just not associated with a specific religion. • 34. The Effects Of Music Education On Mainstream Education Essay This research focuses on answering if music education has enough crossover benefit to include it into our mainstream education. Two scholarly articles, a blog, a personal story and an online article were selected and consulted to find the answer to this question. Many authors in many articles had minimal criticism of music education and most were in favor of music education. Findings were that yes, music education does in fact have enough crossover benefit to include it into mainstream education. Music education may be time consuming and sometimes expensive, yet the benefits of self discipline, deeper conceptual thinking, more developed brain function, and endless creativity of students makes it very worthwhile. Henry David Thoreau once stated, If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. People have different perceptions about everything, but some statements are simply fact. Though fact may be fact, opinion and perspective plays a huge role in our society, especially the education side of society. Everyone on Earth has experienced music in some way, but a question some have pondered is, does music education have enough crossover benefit to academics to include it in our mainstream education? As we explore the pages upon pages of research on this topic, it is to be found that music education provides more than enough crossover ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hanes further points out that little girls that watch the princess movies experience the fantasy and imagination provided by these stories as a typical part of their childhood maturation (Hanes 3). I believe Stephanie Hanes was incorrect on the lessons young girls take from Disney movies, because there is so much more to them then their body image. For example, Cinderella ... Franklin Blake was a very confusing character for he had his French side, and his German side, and his Italian side and so forth (Collins 47). His character could fluctuate from being a model of determination and a spectacle of helplessness in a matter of seconds (Collins 47). He and Rachel were in love, yet later in the novel they could not bear to look at one another, leaving the reader (and other characters in the book) to infer that the Moonstone was behind their bickering. There were times when Mr. Blake was innocent, and others when he appeared guilty. For example, Franklin Blake was actually seen by Rachel, taking the Indian diamond out from her cabinet in the middle of the night. You villain, I saw you take the Diamond with my own eyes! Rachel had yelled at Franklin later in the story. But, the plot twist was that Mr. Blake could remember nothing of taking the diamond. With the later help of Ezra Jennings, who cleared Franklin Blake of accusations by proving that Franklin took the Diamond, in a state of trance, produced by opium which had been secretly administered to Blake by Mr. Candy, an opinionated doctor whom simply wished to prove a point (Collins 354). Companies like Enron and WorldCom, which made profits through accounting scandals, fraud, and an accusation of the limited disclosure by the company to its investors, improper corporate governance and insider trading collapsed and wiped off the entire investment of the investors. This led to the birth of Sarbanes Oxley Act 2002 on July 2002 under the President George W. Bush with the primary objective of protecting the investors through full disclosure, accountability of management and internal control system along with strict rules in auditing (SEC, 2009, p. 1).
