British Columbia And Prairie West
INTRODUCTION
British Columbia and Prairie West experienced many changes in economic, political, and social
developments. The great depression of 1930s was more devastating on the Canadian prairies than
other regions of Canada. It impacted badly on economy, social organization, and politics of the Prairie
region. Various factors such as low wheat prices in the international market, fall of export markets
during the depression, insufficient financial investments lowered the economy of the Prairie region.
The economic and political situation worsened in the British Columbia during the Depression as well
as after the World War II. The Prairie West depended on the farming as their main occupation while
British Columbia depended on forestry, mining and fishing. After the World War II, the Prairie West
witnessed Alberta dominated by the energy industry whereas Saskatchewan and Manitoba maintained
their economy by the replacing the farm sectors with the economic sectors. British Colombia acquired
its name in energy and transportation sectors. The post 1945 period experienced differences in class,
race, gender, and ethnicity. Prairie and British Columbia underwent changes such as population
variability, establishment of national social insurance programs etc. In 2000s, the energy companies
made its way towards Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Depression affected Prairies

The Life Of A Slave Girl By Harriet Jacob Essay
The Impact of an Audience The introductory line of Harriet Jacob s preface to Incidents in the Life of
a Slave Girl, Reader, be assured this narrative is no fiction , is short yet serving (Jacobs 224).
Although brief in its nature, this statement manages to encompass two major aspects that characterize
African American literature: audience and truth. In all writing, understanding the target audience and
how to arrange an argument or essay to appeal to that specific crowd is paramount. However, it is
especially important for African American authors, who typically need to expose injustices or call for
social change in their works. In particular, two African American authors who understood their
audience and how to manipulate that understanding were Charles W. Chesnutt and Marcus Garvey.
Although they were born only twenty nine years apart, Chesnutt and Garvey technically wrote for
different time periods. While Chesnutt s work is associated with Literature of the Reconstruction ,
Garvey was grouped with authors and activists from the Harlem Renaissance (Gates and Smith 580 ).
The separation of their literary epochs drove Chesnutt and Garvey to write for contradistinctive
audiences that demanded unique written techniques and rhetorical strategies, but that both asked for
utmost honesty. For starters, although born in Ohio, Charles W. Chesnutt was raised in North Carolina.
Consequently, this relocation provided him with a front row seat to witness the Reconstruction that

The Suppression Of Pain And Inflammation
Introduction
1.1. Inflammation
The suppression of pain and inflammation has been a major goal of medical treatment throughout the
ages. Inflammation is an essential response to any noxious stimulus which threatens the host and may
vary from a localized response to a more generalized one. [1, 2, 3]
The inflammation sequence can be summarized as follows:
Initial injury causing release of inflammatory mediators (e.g. histamine, serotonin, leukotriene, SAS
A, lysosomes enzymes and prostaglandins).
Vasodilation.
Increased vascular permeability.
Leukocyte migration, chemo taxis and phagocytosis.
Proliferation of connective tissue cells.
1.1.1. Cause of Inflammation
The agents causing inflammation may be as under:
Physical agents like heat, cold, radiation, mechanical trauma.
Chemical agents like organic and inorganic poisons.
Infective agents like bacteria, viruses and their toxins.
Immunological agents like cell mediated and antigen antibody reactions.
1.1.2. Signs of Inflammation Following are the cardinal signs of inflammation:
Redness
Swelling
Heat
Pain
Loss of function
1.1.3. Sources of Chemical Mediators
The most common sources of chemical mediators are as follows [4]:
Cell/Tissue Mediators
Basophils  Histamine, Serotonin, SRS A
Mast cell  Histamine, Serotonin, SRS A, Lysosomes enzyme
Platelets  Histamine, Serotonin, lysosomes enzyme
Polymorph nuclear leukocytes (PMNs)  lysosome enzyme, leukotriene

The Importance Of Safeguarding And Protection Of Children
There are a number of different agencies which may be involved when working in the context of
safeguarding and protection of children and it is vital that these agencies communicate and work in
partnership. Each professional working with children has to respect the others areas of expertise and
support others work as everybody is making a valuable contribution to the pupils development. To
make sure that these professionals and agencies work together effectively in order to safeguard
children, section 10 of the Children Act 2004 places the duty on local authorities to make
arrangements to promote cooperation to improve the wellbeing of all children in the authority s area.

Children are best protected when professionals know what is required of them and how each
organisations and professionals within those organisations work together. All adults and professionals
that work with have a responsibility for keeping them safe. This involves identifying concerns, sharing
information and taking prompt action. In order to do this in an effective way; professionals need to
work in partnership with each other. Individual children, especially some of the most vulnerable
children and those at greatest risk of harm and social exclusion, will need to coordinate help from
health, education, early years, children s social care, and the voluntary sector and other agencies,
including youth justice services. To provide adequate safeguarding measures it helps to have a
complete picture of the child. To work in partnership means that each professional and agency work
together with the other agencies in contact with a child that they have safeguarding and welfare
concerns about. The different professionals and organisations working with that child may have one
snapshot and a concern that may, on its own, not necessary need intervention. When partnership
working is effect a bigger picture evolves as a result of information sharing. If each profession has a

The Importance Of Cultural Anthropology
Anthropology is the social sciences discipline that looks to understand humanity. In this discipline
there are subdivisions such as cultural anthropology and primatology, and the beauty of anthropology
is that you can more than you think, link some of your life event to some anthropological context.
Cultural anthropology is one of the four fields of anthropology. It looks for patterns of beliefs or
behaviours in a group and how they are connected. Anthropologist looks at differences and similarities
between different groups and different cultures. They obtain their data through field work. There is
actually two method of for anthropologist to study a culture of a group; ethnography and ethnology.
Ethnography is a detailed description of a particular group based on the information you get with field
work. Most anthropologist actually go live with this particular group for a certain amount of time to
get the more information possible and write the most detailed and accurate description of this group.
The other method, ethnology, is a study of different cultures from cross cultural comparison. In this
method, they generalized a lot and they using the information of some ethnographic studies already
done.
Imagine that I have chosen to pursue research cultural anthropology and that I have received a
research grant to fund my study, I will choose to focus on the indigenous people in Canada (Métis and

Analysis Of The Movie Zac Beaulieu Essay
Throughout adolescence and high school, students go through many experiences trying to figure out
who they are and how they want to represent themselves. Zac Beaulieu, the protagonist in the film
C.R.A.Z.Y., went through this transitional phase unlike most teenagers who live in Quebec s 1970 s
heteronormative society. As a queer trying to figure out his sexual identity, Zac goes through an
unexpected journey when his non heteronormative ways start to show. It started when Zac realized he
was a little different than the other kids, and especially his brothers. Instead of being a jock or a nerd
like his two of his brothers, he enjoyed to dressing up in his mother s cloths, playing with babies, and
pushing his baby brother s carriage down the street. It was at this moment when his father caught him
dressed up in his mother s clothes talking to his little baby brother that he had unwittingly declared
war on his father . Throughout the movie, Zac has many experiences which ultimately led him and his
family to embrace his sexuality. Using music as an expression of his sexuality, Zac has been able to
learn from each of his experiences and understand and appreciate the person he has become and was
born to be. Some terms that I will use throughout my research essay are queer, cisgender,
heteronormativity, and social identity. I will define these terms to convey a more uniform
understanding of the term and its use in this research paper. Using the University of Michigan s

Wealth, Wisdom And Weakness Of King Solomon
The Wealth, Power, Wisdom and Weakness of Solomon
Throughout history there have been many different types of leaders. There have been kings, emperors,
pharaohs, presidents, dictators, and tyrants who have led many countries and nations. Rulers can be
beneficial, malevolent, kind, brutal, or completely ineffective. King Solomon was a very rich, wise,
and famous king of ancient Israel. He was the son of King David and Bathsheba. Bathsheba wanted
her son to rule, so David had Solomon anointed king before he died. David s older son, Adonijah,
wanted his father s kingdom and threatened Solomon s throne. So Solomon sent a messenger to kill
Adonijah and his allies, thus securing his throne. Solomon overcame the last potential threats to his
kingdom by killing his brother and his brother s allies. King Solomon then secured his throne by
appointing his friends to high positions of power. The author of the book of Kings, in the Bible, is
unknown, or anonymous. It is likely that during Solomon s reign Israeli history started being written
down. It is also likely that a Hebrew wrote the book of Kings due to a bias in favor of Solomon.
Hebrews had a very positive view of Solomon because he built The First Temple which housed the
Arc of the Covenant, a vital relic to the Hebrew people said to contain the Ten Commandments. It
took him seven and a half years to build this Temple to honor their one, true God. King Solomon s
reign is thought to be circa 965 B.C. to about 927 B.C. As the son of David and chosen heir to the
throne, Solomon was made King towards the end of his father s reign, while David was still alive.
Solomon inherited a very large kingdom from his father.
Solomon accumulated enormous wealth. He controlled the entire region west of the Euphrates and had
peace on his borders...He had a large share in the trade between northern and southern countries. He
established Israelite colonies around his province to look after military, administrative and commercial
matters (Jewish).
Solomon was extraordinarily wise in how he set up his kingdom. He made sure to establish peace with
the surrounding countries so that he could trade with them and gain more profit. He divided his
kingdom wisely so that he could rule

Part 2 Current types of Financial Fraud
A) Internal Fraud
Internal fraud consists in a type of fraud that is committed by an individual against an organization.
[Furthermore], a perpetrator of fraud engages in activities that are designed to defraud, misappropriate
property, or circumvent the regulations, law, or policies of a company [8]. Not only has the incidence
of internal fraud increased in frequency because of the availability of sensitive information such as
client details or confidential business documents; moreover, this type of fraud is found in various
types of organizations, ranging from corporations, public service institutions and financial institutions.
Our analysis will concentrate on the most common and prolific types of internal fraud, namely identity
theft, insider trading, loan fraud and wire fraud. Interestingly, PriceWaterhouseCooper conducted a
survey that revealed that the demographics of a typical fraudster are as follows: males (85% of cases),
31 50 years (72% of cases), reached high school level (50%), Bachelor s or post graduate degree

There are several important things that are discussed in the second chapter of Why Are All the Black
Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? by Beverly Daniel Tatum. The topic of identity is brought up
and how members of a dominant group take it for advantage. The members of an advantaged group,
never have to mention their identity since it is considered to be the standard. However, when it comes
to subordinate groups, we always have to mention our identities as it is always pointed out. Beverly
Tatum also discusses how the dominant group has the power to control things to their liking so that
they are at a better advantage. Things such as houses or jobs are sooner going to a dominant group
than a subordinate group. The members of the

Deteriorating Patient Essay
Effective observation of patient is the first crucial phase to identify deteriorating patients and apply
effective measure to care for them (Mandy, Christina David, 2009). Nurse s role is taking care of
patients, supporting, and helping them recovery them from disease or any medical condition they
came with and improving their quality of lives and get, them back to community to function as
normal. However, not always things go efficiently as planned. Nurses work with other multi
disciplinary team to accomplish the goal. A nurse encounter load of temperamental cases therefore
Nurse has immense responsibility for recognizing and rescuing the deteriorating patients. It s a
challenging work, which comes with plenty of clinical experiences and great deal of knowledge. This
can be very overwhelming and intense at time. Not all the nurses are experienced and know how to
handle it. Decision making is very crucial to the time. Partial experience and basic level knowledge
can make it difficult to care for deteriorating patients. Reporting the doctor about any concerns
regarding any changes of the patients can resolve the patients. The lack of communication between
disciplinary teams and the nurses can be a cause for untimely action taken for deteriorating patients.
The verbal information given to the doctor can be irrelevant sometimes. Hence, it s very crucial in a
health setting to recognize the deteriorating patients. In this paper I will be transcribing how can a

Analysis Of The Fish By Elizabeth Bishop
When Elizabeth Bishop writes a poem of someone s experience catching a fish, the person catching
the fish, presumed as the narrator, describes the fish s intricate details which essentially gives it an
ugly appearance. In an explication of The Fish, the analyzer also notes how the narrator s descriptions
yield an ugly appearance of the fish, but with further observation, the narrator realizes the beauty deep
within the fish and the fact that the fish is a warrior. The ugly description of the outside of the fish
correlates with how some people tend to make a quick judgment based on someone s appearance
without taking the time to think about what their personality or characteristics include. Or even to
think about what that person has been through that has caused them to look that way. Evidently, as the
poem continues, the narrator reveals that the fish has been through at least five battles, according to
the physical scars left in its jaw. The fish, a symbol for anyone who has dealt with difficulties during
their life, will persevere even while the outside world continues its routine. The world will never stop
for one person or, in this case, an animal from the poem, The Fish. All other people follow through
with their daily tasks and the sun still shines in the morning. Comparably, in The Fish, the crickets
went on with their chatter and the soft rain incessantly fell on the leaves and in the lake. Although
neither of these setting features were straightforwardly

Middle of the World, Territory of Complexity Essay
With current advancement involving technological, and biological warfare all over the earth, the world
can seem to resemble a ticking time bomb waiting to be detonated. All it would take is one rogue
nation to oppose a neighboring nation and provoke a terrible conflict, and other nations would have to
intervene. The conflict over territory is present in Israel and Palestine. This ancient feud will
apparently cause a world war if it is not solved, The Israeli Palestinian conflict can overflow onto the
rest of the surrounding nations, right into our very backyard, and it already involves U.S. Government.

The Israelis are known to protect there neighborhoods from incoming rocket propelled grenades.
Israel does certainly have the right to defend itself from the heavy opposition. It is a volatile situation
when any nation can cause violence for having different beliefs. Nonetheless the definition of one s
rights varies from different countries. Israel is outnumbered, yet still manages to survive, although, the
threat is not gone. Many nations surrounding the Jewish State condemn the close relationship between
the United States and Israel because the United States has contributed to the preservation of the Jewish
nation. The Arab resistance yearns to take total dominion over the west bank of Israel. Although Israel
is a small nation by itself, people opposing Israel say that the Israelis are nothing short of military
bullies. Israel is known for their military might and success in preserving there nation. Their defense
program is state of the art and far above other surrounding nations. Yet the potential of rogue nations
containing nuclear capabilities are substantial. Some of the Arabian fighters are not all radicalized but
are angered victims of having family members becoming casualties of war. Israel also while trying to
defend itself, occasionally contribute to the unfortunate casualty victims. Naturally they would oppose
Israel for taking away their sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, and also friends.

The Importance Of Being Earnest With An Ideal Husband
A play of manners is realistic in the sense that the satire is still representative of the foolishness of real
people.
...there are characters in it that can always recognize a fool. The laughter that the witty young bucks of
the older comedy share with the audience at the expense of a fool or fop unites the real world and the
world of the play by showing that the same criteria for reason and unreason are valid in both (Foster,
19).
Reinert compares The Importance of Being Earnest with An Ideal Husband. In his earlier play, Lord
Goring is a hero who seems flippant and shallow but is later shown to have wit and character.
Whereas, in Earnest the characters remain fools throughout the play. The heroes , Jack and Algernon,
seem to respect Prism and Chasuble who are meant to be the foolish characters. That is the reason The

The over usage of video games has appeared to affect the mind in the OFC, the striatum, and the
sensory regions. Addict gamers appeared to have more of a impulsiveness control than the normal
gamer. Players who had played online showed an increase of gray matter density from the other
players in the left anterior cingulate cortex. Another thing I found interesting in this article was that
higher amounts of dopamine appeared in addict gamers from the reward process in videogames than
the casual gamer. The Cambridge gambling task ( which affects the brain in making poor decisions)
was found higher in addict gamers. Not only that, but addict gamers appeared to have a slower
information processing than normal players.
What I took away from the article was that video game addiction could be linked backed to the same
effects on the brain as drug abuse, or impulsive control disorders. Playing video games regularly may
not trigger these effects, but the heavy usage of video games appears to affect the rewarding process
which thus releases a higher dopamine in the brain. High concentration of dopamine can also be found

The flow of capital, information, goods and services, and people are among the more readily measured
indicators of such links between large cities. Generally, there has been a net transfer of funds from the
worlds developed economies to countries in the developed world. The decision makers directing these
flows are typically located in world cities, such as London, while these on whom the decision impacts
are often found in the old industrial centres of the developed world, where the cash is being redirected

Problems:
As written in the case study, earlier the SYSCO operating regions had conducted their own HR
practices without consulting the HR department. This was the big problem and could have led to
negative impact on company s growth. Cooperation between operating managers and the HR
department is extremely important for HR efforts to succeed. HR also known as employee advocates
or company morale officers who serves all employee issues or concerns with managing organization s
strategies and goals. But without the HR advocate role, there could be a risk for employer to face
lawsuits and other regulatory complaints.
Another problem in the SYSCO case study was the safety. Workplace safety and security has grown in
importance along with disaster and recovery planning. Also, with explosive internet growth, many
employees and managers uses social media such as wikis, blogs, tweets and other techniques. Though
it is extremely helpful, but still the risk of social media is apparent. This could lead to many problems
such as leakage of trade secrets, potential customers information and privacy of all the employees.
Increase in safety issues resulted in increase of compensation claims by workers or other agencies.
A high turnover rate of night shift warehouse workers was another problem faced by the SYSCO.
Recruiting new workers regularly has become a big challenge for SYSCO.

While this may be evidence of neurological dysregulation with potentially negative future

through which social motivation takes place, with intense family conflict in the form of maltreatment

the same tenacity and pride she acquired through early misery.
Furthermore, another factor in discerning solutions to pain is the complexity of one s intimacy with
close family and friends. Intimacy can be defined as a personal relationship where emotions and
experiences are shared between two or more people. Most individuals have at least one intimate
interpersonal relationship with another person. While the majority of a positive human connection is
meant to be happy and enjoyable, occasionally problems arise. Issues could include stress,
miscommunication, or lack of intimacy. Problems between people are difficult to avoid but what can
be certain is that humans have the ability to respond to those issues in their own unique way. In the
field of psychology, attachment theory attempts to explain how human beings respond to certain
situations such as arguing or separation. Cindy Hazan and Phillip Shaver, psychology professors at

amount of oxygen that goes to your organs and cells. This can quickly become a life threatening
problem.
Carbon monoxide poisoning is a medical emergency. People who are elderly or who have heart
disease or lung disease are more likely to have worse effects from carbon monoxide poisoning.
What are the causes?
This condition is often caused by inhaling exhaust fumes from fuel burning sources. Burning any fuel
that contains carbon (gasoline, coal, charcoal, wood) releases carbon monoxide into the air. Sources of

Oxygen can be delivered through:
A face mask.
Breathing tubes that fit under your nostrils.
A breathing tube that is placed down your throat (endotracheal tube), in severe cases.
A hyperbaric chamber, in some severe cases. A hyperbaric chamber is a clear, cylindrical, enclosed
space. You lie inside of the chamber, and oxygen is pumped into the chamber. This speeds up the
process in which oxygen is absorbed and replaces the carbon monoxide in your blood.
Follow these instructions at home:
Do not return to the area where you were exposed to carbon monoxide. The area must be thoroughly
ventilated before it is safe to return.
Take over the counter and prescription medicines only as told by your health care provider.
Do not use any products that contain nicotine or tobacco, such as cigarettes and e cigarettes. If you
need help quitting, ask your health care provider.
Return to your normal activities as told by your health care provider. Ask your health care provider
what activities are safe for you.
Keep all follow up visits as told by your health care provider. This is important.
How is this prevented?
Install a carbon monoxide detector in your home.
Have all gas stoves and furnaces inspected once a year.
Clean all fireplace chimneys and flues at least once a year.
Have the exhaust system in your car checked once a year.
Never keep a car s motor running in a closed garage.
Never sleep in a car with the motor running.

Paul Poiret Linear By Women In The 1930 s
Another garment that was often worn by women in 1930 s was a sarong. A sarong, also known as

The most shocking fashion trend that appeared in the thirties were most definitely trousers. Created by
a French designer Paul Poiret in 1913, they quickly became a favorite piece of clothing for women,

Negative Effects Of Golf
To this day, golf is one of two sports to be played on the moon along with the Javelin throw. Apollo 14
member Alan Shepard pulled out a makeshift six iron he smuggled on board and hit two golf balls on
the lunar surface, becoming the first and only person to play golf anywhere other than Earth. Golf
originated in Scotland and has since changed exponentially. Scotlander s would hit the ball with
wooden clubs. Now, golfer s use the most forgiving metal clubs available and spend as much time at
the gym as they do chipping. Today s professionals are gym rats that continue to thrive for perfect
flexibility and muscle mass. The game of golf is no longer a game, it s a grind to become superhuman.
The discussion of questioning golf s status as a sport de legitimizes it s $975 million dollar industry,
the definition of a sport in the Merriam Webster Dictionary, and the tough mental and physical
requirements to stay ahead on the 18th. The PGA earned over $975 million in the past year, but their
earnings rely on worldwide participation. If Golf is labeled a game, the industry could become
bankrupt because participation would go down. Look at bowling, according to the sports writer Tim
McGlone, who has written many pieces for Sports Illustrated, Many leagues have disbanded as the
number of dedicated bowlers has dropped by more than half since 1980. As the economy changed and
other things came about for people to do, bowling began to fall off. As a result of the decline, bowling

Indian Wedding Rituals And Traditional Rituals
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue... A wedding is a ceremony of
marriage that is celebrated across cultures. It is one of the only rituals that many of the world s
cultures have in common. However, each culture has their own unique traditions when dealing with
marriage. Because India is a more religious nation than the United States, they tend to stick to a more
traditional regimen of rituals and customs. While most weddings in the United States have developed
into more modernized versions of the ancient ceremony, Hindu weddings in India continue to be very
traditional and religious. Weddings are also taken much more seriously in India than they are in the
United States. The Hindu (India s major religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

these intricate Mehendi designs, henna tattoos, as part of the Hindus customary sixteen adornments.
Traditionally, the groom s initial is included somewhere in the detailed designs of florals and paisley

help calm the bride s nerves when applied to her hands and feet. After Mehendi, the bride does not
step out of the house until the next day, when Var Mala begins. Var Mala is a main wedding day
ceremony in which the bride and groom exchange garlands. The groom s friends attempt to prevent
the bride from putting her garland around the groom s neck to tease her, while the bride s friends help
her do the same. Everyone enjoys the tussle between the two wedding parties, and the groom finally
succeeds in his endeavors. This signifies that the bride has accepted the groom as her husband. After
Var Mala, the couple gets blessed by the elders of both families. This is followed by

James Graham Conscientiousness
Introduction Aubrey Drake Graham is a 30 year old Canadian born rapper, singer, songwriter, and
actor. His openness appears with his adventurousness and indiscrimination of other artists who have
criminal records. Furthermore, he shows his neuroticism with difficulty to find his relationship
partner. On the other hand, high rank on the Billboard chart and graduation from his high school with
determination despite his tough and rough incidents in his past show his conscientiousness. Regarding
his success as an artist, we will discuss three aspects of his personality using Big Five Personality Test

Reflection On Velocardiofacial Syndrome
Tierani Richardson Reflection 15 Content: Our group was assigned velocardiofacial syndrome
(VCFS). I was excited to receive a syndrome to which I had not been exposed. I was assigned
etiology, history, and incidence/prevalence. I learned that VCFS originates from the Latin words
velum which means palate, cardia which means heart, and facies which means having to do with the
face. It is the most common syndrome associated with cleft palate! Additionally, VCFS is an
autosomal dominant condition. This means that once a person is recognized as having VCFS, they
have a 50 percent chance of passing the syndrome on to their offspring. VCFS is characterized by a
small deletion of chromosome 22, more specifically in the region of 22q11.2. This deletion results in
about 30 genes becoming absent from chromosome 22. Two genes in particular COMT and TBX1 are
associated with VCFS (not all genes that cause VCFS have been identified). However, I am not sure
why these genes are involved. I tried to research the reason, but could not find a plausible explanation.
I also learned that more often than not, neither parent of a child with VCFS has the deletion of
22q11.2. This means that the condition is NEW in 93 percent of offspring. The good news is that the
chance for the couple to produce another child with VCFS is close to zero. The deletion occurs as an
accident when either the egg or sperm is being formed, OR early in fetal development. Angelo

Essay On Protein Structure
In this article, it explains how DNA sequence data that researchers had collected from assorted
environments has helped them create 3 D models of more than 600 protein families for structures that
were previously unknown. This led to predictions that before would not have been possible. Now, it is
possible to use computers to create better models of protein structures. Biologist can now build
accurate models even if they have no template. Because of the discovery that the sequence of amino
acids determines the way a protein folds, scientist have been investigating different ways to figure a
protein s structure from its sequence. Every protein family has at least 1,000 different proteins in it.

The human genome contains millions of sequences. These sequences are described as transposable
elements, genetic units that jump around the entire genome. These sequences used to be referred to as
junk DNA until they were recognized that they were influencing the expression of genes. Scientists
have combined phylogenetics (the study of evolutionary relationships between different species) with
genomics (the study of how the genome of an organism conditions its biology). From comparing
genomes of 203 vertebrates, they traced the first origin of KZFPs back to a common ancestor of
tetrapods (four legged animals) and coelacanth (a fish that evolved over 400 million years ago). This
helps learn more about its fundamental importance. KZFPs can transform transposable elements into
fine tuned regulatory platforms that influence the expression of genes. This takes place in stages of
development and human tissues. I think that combining phylogenetics with genomics could help
scientist learn and discover more about evolution and how and why they ve changed. This relates to
what we learn about because it talks about proteins and stages of development and human tissues. It
also talks about DNA and how generic elements change.

The ability to do anything effectively is through knowledge of the different tools to do the task, and

advertisement is considered effective when the targeted audience is persuaded to take the action that
the advertisement is suggesting. An advertisement by the Sandy Hook Promise, Evan, focuses on a

The study surveyed participants attitudes towards organizations after watching advertisements by
organizations. The advertisements varied in levels of guilt evoked. The purpose of the study was to see
how appealing to guilt would influence the effectiveness of the advertisement. What the researchers
found was guilt appeals can have positive effects on behavioral intentions, notably donating behavior
(2007, p. 729). This suggests that when someone feels guilty, they want to get rid of the guilt and
believe that they can do so through their own actions and help society. Even though the study is
focused on donations, the concept regarding an advertisement s effectiveness is the same. Donating
money is a simple action, since it is sometimes a one time thing people do, and does impose a burden
of time to the donator. Visiting a website is no different because it too is an action that is only taken
once, and is not extremely time consuming. The study also discovered that children s charities are of
high personal importance to the majority of people (Hibbert et al., 2007). This is related to the Sandy
Hook Promise advertisement because when people see the source of the advertisement, Sandy Hook
Promise, they see the organization as one that affects the

Elements Of Comedy In Merchant Of Venice
The genre of William Shakespeare s most performed play has been debated for a long time: is it a
comedy or a tragedy? The play has elements of both genres, but one is clearly prevalent. While the
story hits upon the tragic element of despair, The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, is a
comedy because lovers are separated, characters are in disguise, and the story has a happy ending.
From the very beginning of The Merchant of Venice, we see the comedic element of lovers being
separated time and time again. First, Jessica and Lorenzo are not permitted to marry or see each other
because of their different religions and her father s fervent hatred for Christians. Lorenzo certain, and
my love indeed / For who love I so much? (2.vi.30 31). Jessica and Lorenzo and certain they are in
love, despite the distance that separates them. Later, in Act 3, Bassanio must leave Portia to return to
Venice where Antonio is waiting to see him one last time. And then away to Venice to your friend! /
For never shall you lie by Portia s side / With an unquiet soul (3.ii.317 19). This separation between
Bassanio and Portia allows the audience to connect with the irony of these young lovers struggle.
These separations between lovers lead to another element of comedy costumes.
Of the three women in this play, each dresses as a man once, furthering the comedic air with clever
disguises. Jessica starts off the chain of costumes by dressing up as a torchbearer to flee from her
father s house. Cupid himself would blush / To see me thus transformed to a boy (2.vi.39 40). Jessica s
readiness to run away from her father triumphed over her embarrassment about dressing as a man. In
the same way, Portia and Nerissa don the clothes of lawyers to save their husbands friend. There you
shall find that Portia was the doctor / Nerissa there, her clerk (5.i.298 9). This lie s hilarity is furthered
when Balthazar is praised for being smarter than most men. But the comedic elements don t stop there.
Accordingly, almost every character receives happy news at the end of the play, which doesn t happen
in tragedies. Antonio learns that his despair was all for naught when Portia hands over a letter. Sweet
lady, you have given me life and

Essay about Uncle Tom s Cabin and the Grief of Harriet...
Overcoming the death of a loved one can be one of life s most difficult tasks, especially when that loss
involves a parent or a child. Author and abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe grieved over death as both
mother and child. When she was only five years old, her mother Roxana Foote Beecher, died of
tuberculosis. Later at age 38, she lost her infant son Charley to an outbreak of cholera. Together these
two traumatic events amplified her condemnation of slavery and ultimately influenced the writing of
one of America s most controversial novels, Uncle Tom s Cabin.

ever disturbed (qtd. in Wagenknecht 23). Harriet also believed that her mother s memory and example
had more influence in molding her family, in deterring from evil and exciting to good, than the living
presence of many mothers (qtd. in Hedrick, Perfection ).
Those who read Uncle Tom s Cabin will find the death of Stowe s mother memorialized in the death
of Eva St. Clare. Stowe claimed that the pain she felt as a child from losing her own mother helped her
identify with the pain felt by African American children and mothers sold apart under slavery. Stowe
later revealed the intense connection she possessed for the character of little Eva. She said that writing
about Eva s death affected [her] so deeply that [she] could not write another word for two weeks...

In 1832, Harriet s father moved the family to the frontier city of Cincinnati, where he became the
president of Lane Seminary. The school was well known for its progressive attitudes and before long it
evolved into a center for abolitionists. One of the free thinkers employed there was Calvin

Rowing Reflection
. Rowing has always been a type of personal thermostat and stress reliever for me, I did it almost
selfishly. That is why, when the team held captain elections halfway through my first semester, I did
not vote for myself, I was not on the team because I aspired to be a captain. And further more, when I
received over 75% of the votes, I was shocked. I was one of the newest members of the team and I
was not a vocal team member by any measure. Still, I accepted and we had a great year with a 6th
place finish at nationals. It taught me that leadership is not something you choose, it chooses you.
When choosing a captain the team wanted someone they could emulate and who s is motives they
never had to question. I was a hard worker, and though I did not request it, my team started to align
themselves behind me. From then on whether leadership was or was not the reason I was concerned
with rowing, leadership became my responsibility out of immediate consequence of my personality.
This turned out to be one of the most valuable lessons of my college career. Boston College Varsity

Ancient Jews And Their Belief Of God
Ancient Jews and their Belief in God(s)
Throughout the centuries, the Jewish people have maintained their customs and religion. One of the
most common assumptions has been that the ancient Jews have always been monotheistic. Yet, upon
closer examination, this conventional wisdom is inaccurate. Ugaritic texts, archeological data, and the
Biblical narrative itself all demonstrate that the ancient Jews were not monotheistic, contrary to what
many believe. In fact, there is proof that they acknowledged and sometimes worshipped other gods, as
late as the seventh century CE. In order to grasp what this means, there needs to be an understanding
of who the ancient Jews were, who their neighbors were, and what was worshipped at the time. To
understand what the ancient Jews believed in, we first must define who these ancient Jews were. The
first mention of ancient Jews in history is in the year 1207 BCE. In the book, Ancient Inscriptions:
Voices from the Biblical World, an Egyptian King Merneptah tries to conquer many lands through his
campaign to achieve greatness. He writes about his conquests and mentions Israel by saying, Israel is
laid to waste, his seed is no more. Ronald Hendel, a Biblical scholar, cites this verse in his article,
Israel among the Nations, and we begin to see mention of the Jewish people in history. Up until this
point, there is no historical proof that a separate nation of Israel existed. This verse gives us evidence
of the coexistence of Israel and

The Methyl Red, Microbiology Laboratory Theory And...
The Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth is a combination medium that contains peptone, glucose,
and a phosphate buffer that produce proteins, fermentable carbohydrates, and a consistent pH level
(Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). The Methyl Red test uses the Methyl
Red and Voges Proskauer broth to determine if an organism produces stable or unstable acid by
performing a mixed acid fermentation of glucose. If an organism produces a stable acid, it is positive
for executing the mixed acid fermentation which then lowers the pH level in the broth to 4.4 and turns
it red. Unstable acids convert to neutral products and the broth will stay yellow or turn orange, both
indicate a negative mixed acid fermentation (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and
Application). Two of the four bacteria used had red broth indicating positive test results for mixed acid
fermentation with glucose, they were Escherichia coli and Proteus vulgaris, my known bacteria. The
other two bacteria, Alcaligenes faecalis and Enterobacter aerogenes, and unknown bacteria D were

Payments are made on a net 60 basis, which means you will recieve your money 60 days after asking

I don t think you should be under any illusion, you will never be paid. Well known PTC sites that have

How do Two Dollar Click make money?
To fund the click payments they provide advertising. For an ad to be watched or clicked 1000 times it

How Is Hyperbole Used In Romeo And Juliet
In Act 2 Scene 3 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo goes to visit Friar Lawrence in his cell after meeting
Juliet and falling madly in love with her. Romeo tells him about his love for Juliet and asks him to
marry them. Friar Lawrence is shocked that Romeo has moved on so suddenly so he gives a dramatic
speech to Romeo. Shakespeare uses meaningful images, melodic diction, and dramatic hyperboles to
express the nature of love. In the following lines, Shakespeare illustrates how young and immature
men are bound to fall in and out of love in an instant. Friar Lawrence starts out by exclaiming, Jesu
Maria, what a deal of brine / Hath washed thy sallow cheeks for Rosaline! (2.3.73 74). Friar Lawrence
is extremely surprised that Romeo is able to forget ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hyperbole used in these lines emphasize the short span of time for which it took Romeo to
transition from mourning over Rosaline to loving Juliet. In addition, Friar also mentions an old tear
that is not washed off yet (2.3.80) to continually present the quickness in which Romeo was able to
change both emotions and lovers. Romeo s love for Rosaline was so recent that a tear from when he
was crying could still be seen. Lawrence also follows up with a melodic diction with the repetition of
the th sound through If e er thou wast thyself and these woes thine, / Thou and these woes were all for
Rosaline (2.3.81 82). The th sound is usually a very long sound that can be held for a long time. Friar
uses this to symbolize how he believes that love is pleasant, and therefore should last a long time.
Previously, Romeo was so in love with Rosaline that he expressed his love for her by making her seem
like a god. He stated, The all seeing sun / Ne er saw her match since first the world begun (1.2.99
100). Through this hyperbole, Romeo emphasizes the extremity of Rosaline s beauty. However, now
he has changed his mind already, saying that Juliet is a holy shrine . When Romeo sees someone that
he likes, he immediately praises their beauty without ever questioning his own foolishness. The motif
of Romeo s foolishness is the reason that he will never be able to stay in a stable relationship.
Therefore, Romeo does not and will most likely never understand the true meaning of

Off shoring is the establishment of business operations outside national boundaries. The process of
moving business outside these boundaries is to garner an advantage either through tax breaks, lower

either branch out as a horizontal multinational or vertical multinational. Horizontal multinational s

the associated impact on the U.S. work force. The three measures that will be discussed are 1) value
added (i.e. the measure of capital and labor gain at a given production stage), 2) capital expenditures
(i.e. land, buildings and equipment), and 3) employment (i.e. number of jobs lost/created). The paper
will conclude with a discussion of outcomes between 1977 2003 using data supplied by the Bureau of
Economic Analysis.
Assessment
Economic integration aims to reduce cost and increase value for both producers and consumers. This
is accomplished by increased international trade for goods and services. Economic integration has
expanded markets by which firms can play . Firms are more self serving, their motive is to reduce cost
and increase profits. To do this firms have begun to off shore their operations. Off shoring allows a
firm to lower cost and establish a presence closer to target markets. This process has become easier
with technology advances. For example, information can be shared and transactions made with the
click of a button. International borders are easy transcended with expansive transportation networks.
This facilitates product movement and placement of resources, supporting just in time (JIT)
manufacturing. Critics of this believe overall economic well being is affected when companies off

Taking a Look at Electric Vehicles
Introduction: Although electric vehicles save money they do not go the long distances a gas vehicle
can go. They are also cheaper than gas vehicles and better for the environment!
Body paragraphs: Charging stations can be installed in a location where there is a regular 120V outlet
or a 240V outlet. The average electric vehicle charger is designed to be powered by a dedicated 240V
outlet for just charging that vehicle. The charger that can plug into either a 120V or 240v is called the
Turbocord, it is small and compact. This is the type of charger a person that travels a lot and knows
they would not be able to access a 240V outlet. This charger is designed to work with either 120V or
240V, every place that has electricity has an 120V outlet. EV states TurboCord is the next generation
of plug in EV chargers. It s ultra compact size provides you the flexibility and freedom to take it
anywhere. Just plug it directly into an outlet and charge at home, work or play. The Dual version
works with both a 120 volt standard outlet and a 240 volt outlet for charging nearly 3 times faster than
your Level 1 cordset. Now with these electric vehicles and how the technology is improving every day
the charging time is getting cut down, some vehicles take up to 23 hours to fully charge. EV chargers
can cut that time down to 6.3 hours which is a huge drop. EV s newest charger, the Turbocord is
opening opportunities for the owners of these electric vehicles. This new style of a charger

The Treatment Of Pulmonary Hypertension
Treatments in Pulmonary Hypertension
Brooke Throckmorton
Kettering College
Abstract This paper discusses some of the different medications used in the treatment of pulmonary
hypertension. There are six different articles being used for each the medications, and other basic
information pertaining to pulmonary hypertension. The articles discuss studies performed on the drugs
to demonstrate their effectiveness on pulmonary hypertension. The articles exhibit important
information about how the therapeutic effects of the drugs have different levels of success in varying
patients. A few of the most common medications used in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension
being discussed in this review are: Vasodilators, High Dose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Therefore, the pressure of the blood in the vessels is higher, causing pulmonary hypertension. If blood
cannot filter through the lungs properly, it does not get completely oxygenated. Poorly oxygenated
blood can cause many other issues to the body, so it is important to properly treat pulmonary
hypertension. Many different medications are used in treatment of pulmonary hypertension including:
Vasodilators, Endothelin Receptor Antagonists, Sildenafil, Tadalafil, Prostacyclins, Calcium Channel
Blockers, Anticoagulants, Diuretics, and Oxygen. Due to the fact that the underlying cause of
pulmonary hypertension is unknown, there are many studies on the disease and the drugs used to treat
it (Voelkel, Bogaard, Gomez Arroyo, 2015). This review will discuss the different types of
medications used to treat pulmonary hypertension. Some of the medications are found to be more
effective than others based on the results of many studies that have been performed on animals and
humans. The goal of this review is to successfully compare and contrast these different drugs based off
of the studies performed on them.
Method
For this review, the Kettering College library online database was used to find peer reviewed articles
as references. Beginning on February 22, 2015, the search treatment of pulmonary hypertension was
used to narrow the results for the study. To shorten the results further, the year limit was set from 2005

Re Expansion Of Ebay Into China
The re expansion of eBay into China seems to be a viable probability and a part of the companies plan
for the near future. In 2002, eBay established a presence in china with the acquisition of leading
auction site Eachnet to form eBay Eachnet. Up until 2005 eBay Eachnet was the leader of the
ecommerce market due to their C2C platform. However, with the emergence of Alibaba owned
subsidiary Taobao.com (Taobao), eBay Eachnet soon lost its stronghold on the market. This factor
combined with a rigid Chinese ecommerce market drove eBay to withdraw business dealings in the
country in 2006.
Yet, the goal of a successful longstanding ecommerce venture has never been far from the companies
plan. In 2013 the ecommerce giant announced plans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As interest in eBay and conducting business on the site began to grow eBay started applying a
nominal fee for listing items on the site, and a percentage of proceeds after sales had concluded.
Application of nominal fees on each transaction enabled Omidyar to garner revenue from his venture.
In 1996 Omidyar appointed Jeff Skoll as president of eBay. Skoll s first order of business as president
of eBay was to grow the customer support team for e bays market place and in 1997. This entailed
appointing people to eBay s customer service department to settle disputes, attract new customers and
keep current customers happy. By September of 1997 the company officially changed its name to the
now well known moniker eBay Inc. It was in this same year that eBay was receiving one million page
hits per week and at minimum 15,000 item listings per day. eBay, thereby had become one of the most
visited sites on the web.
With the company growing at an exponential rate Skoll and Omidyar knew that they needed to garner
venture capital. So, in 1997, Omidyar and Skoll approached the U.S venture capital firm Benchmark.
They were able to broker a deal and Benchmark endowed eBay with $ 5 million with the stipulation
that Benchmark be given a 22 percent stake in the company. With the help of Benchmark Omidyar
and Skoll were able to bring onboard David Beirne and Robert Kagle to service operations, as well as
Meg Whitman an MBA Harvard

Rhetorical Analysis Of Handwriting Doesn t Matter
Rhetorical Analysis: Handwriting Just Doesn t Matter In recent years, the rushing tide of typing has
overwhelmed the once necessary skill of handwriting. As the days pass by computers and other 21st
century electronics are becoming more and more a part human lives. Gone are the constant needs for
pen and paper, often times all that is needed for notetaking is a laptop and working fingers. A recent
article published by Anne Trubek titled Handwriting Just Doesn t Matter analyzes the importance of
handwriting in the computerized world that is lived in today, as well as through a discussion on the
teaching of cursive and other handwriting exercises in schools. Using a mix of pathos, logos, and
minor amounts of ethos, Trubek is able to comprehensively convince her audience that handwriting is
not as important or useful a skill as it used to be. Trubek wishes to provide her audience with a
convincing argument that shows how handwriting in this time is inferior to typing on computers. In
other words, her primary purpose is to illustrate the idea of focusing on typing automaticity (the ability
to type without looking at keys) in schools over handwriting automaticity (the ability to write without
conscious effort). This is seen when Trubek explains how if ...the goal of public education is to
prepare students to become successful, employable adults, typing is inarguably more useful than
handwriting. (Trubek, 2016, para. 4) Trubek argues that if public schools are working

The World Of Private Security Essay
In todays world of private security, secrecy is essential. But what about when those secrets are
incidents which breach the confines of the law or human rights. Should they still be kept secrets,
should they be ignored by government regulators and poorly investigated by congressional
committees, or should they be exposed and issued proper sanctions? Since the beginning of the War
on Terror there have been a multitude of incidents involving private security companies which are also
sometimes known as mercenary armies. These incidents, in many cases, have tried to be covered up or
discredited by the companies involved. In some instances, bribes were even involved and exposed but
the companies were still allowed to operate. Many of them even received more contracts from the US
government! Private security companies around the world provide essential services that range from
the protection of VIP s to the installation of security systems to the building of FOB s (Forward
Operating Base), command bases, and even roads. Personally, I like the idea of PSC s (Private
Security Companies) and am even looking to go into the private security industry but my choice
would come after careful consideration and research on the policies and procedures of the company.
That is where the problem today lies, with the policies and procedures of PSC s as well as the lack of
policies and procedures imposed onto them by the government. Overall I believe that these companies
are effective but that

D) There is generally no option to continue the lease at a rent lower than market value.
E) There is no arrangement such that the risks and liabilities involved with the ownership of the asset
would be transferred to the Lessee.
From the above classification we can see that all the points indicate that the leases undertaken by
David Jones Ltd as a Lessee are Operating Leases or Finance leases and can be determined using the
steps above. Being such a big company, David Jones Ltd has both Operating and Financial leases and
they are taken mainly to run the firm s stores and warehouses. Under the annual report for the half
year ended 2013 it is clearly evident that the cost of leasing activities for David Jones Ltd has
increased by 4.17mn. Payments made under operating leases, where the lease agreement includes
predetermined fixed rate increases, are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income on a
straight line basis over the term of the lease. Other operating lease payments are expensed as incurred.
Lease incentives received are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income as an integral
part of the total lease expense and spread over the lease term.
Treatment of Leases
The determination of whether an arrangement is or contains a lease is based on the substance of the
arrangement and requires an assessment of whether the fulfilment of the arrangement is dependent on
the use of a specific asset or assets and whether the arrangement

The Effect Of Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet On The...
The style of writing of an author can tremendously impact the meaning and purpose of their pieces of
literature. In Erich Maria Remarque s novel All Quiet on the Western Front, the author s style of
writing has an extensive impact on how readers perceive the story. Remarque was a soldier during
World War I, providing him with first hand experience on the effects of war. These past experiences
allow him bring the novel alive using his memories. Erich Maria Remarque s style of writing has a
colossal effect on the novel because of the level of detail he uses when describing scenes and moments
of action. Using imagery and personification, Remarque paints pictures in his readers minds. When
describing the battles, he does it in such a way that the explosions can be heard, the smoke smelled,
the destruction visible. By combining his experiences with those of Paul, he brings the horrors of war
to his readers doorstep. A considerable amount of literary devices that Remarque uses is in the form of
personification. Especially when speaking of the battles and how:
The thunder of the guns swells to a single heavy roar and then breaks up again into separate
explosions. The dry bursts of the machine guns rattle. Above us the air teems with invisible swift
movement, with howls, pipings, and hisses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each type of weapon is associated with a different type of sound, which is what brings the reader to a
higher level of engagement with the novel. Combining sounds people are familiar with such as the
sound of thunder, a roar, howls, an organ, etcetera, gives Remarque the ability to envelop the audience
with the feeling they are apart of these battles. Almost as if they are standing there in the field or in the
trenches, watching bombs burst and smoke float heavily on the horizon. By using this personification,
Remarque is able to draw his audience into the lives of these young

CLINICAL CARE INDICATORS
Clinical care indicators have continued to improve gradually in the ESRD population. Figure 3

Figure 4 shows annual trends in mortality rates for hemodialysis patients, with adjustments for age,
gender, and race. Although mortality rates in the first year of dialysis therapy have clearly declined
from their peak value of 294.4 per 1000 patient years in 1987, meaningful improvements do not seem
to have accrued since 1993. In contrast, mortality rates in the second, third, fourth, and fifth years after
inception of dialysis therapy have declined progressively in successive years. These trends are
encouraging, all the more so when one considers that the expanding burden of comorbid illness in
latter day dialysis patients is not considered in the year to year comparison of mortality rates. The
failure of first year mortality rates to decline in the past decade is without a clear explanation and is a
research area that may be deserving of an enhanced priority. Similarly, it is unknown why mortality
rates have continued to decline in the face of expanding burdens of comorbidity, given that no specific
therapeutic strategies in this population have been proved to reduce mortality in large, multicenter,
randomized, controlled

Essay on Changing a Flat Tire
Changing a Flat Tire The following steps are the safest way to change a flat tire. If you received a flat
tire while driving down the road; first thing to do is to get away from oncoming traffic; at that time,
find a place that is well lit, such as a parking lot. Keep in mind the farther you drive on a flat tire, the
more damage you will incur to the tire and wheel. Secondly, set the parking brake so that the car does
not roll away while the car is off the ground. Then, you have to locate your spare tire, which will
replace the flat tire; that is usually in a compartment inside the trunk. The spare tire is secured in place
by a bolt or a bracket that unscrews easily. In addition to the spare tire, you will need a jack to raise

You will have to turn the lug nuts counter clockwise to loosen them. Do not remove the lug nuts all
the way off the threaded shaft. Next, to get the wheel off the car, you have to raise the corner of the car
where the flat is located.
Therefore, you will raise the jack so that it almost touches the car. Once the jack is raised enough to
just touch the car; position the jack so that it is not tilted; furthermore, make sure the jack is 6 12
inches behind the front or rear of the tire. When you are sure the jack is in position correctly; proceed
by raising the jack, so that the car will rise off the ground. Remember you need to fit a fully inflated
tire in place of the flat; therefore, make sure you jack the car up enough to get a fully inflated tire
under there. Once you have the car off the ground; go ahead and remove the lug nuts with your hand.
Now, grasp the wheel at 3 o clock and 9 o clock and pull the wheel straight off. Place the flat tire in
the trunk; otherwise, it will be in the way while you are working. You will then, pick up the spare tire
and line up the holes with the threaded shafts; then slide the spare tire onto the threaded shafts. Next,
you will spin the lug nuts on by hand; indeed, you have to turn the lug nuts clockwise to tighten them.
Tighten the lug nuts as much as you can with your hands. Now you can lower the jack;

  • 3. British Columbia And Prairie West INTRODUCTION British Columbia and Prairie West experienced many changes in economic, political, and social developments. The great depression of 1930s was more devastating on the Canadian prairies than other regions of Canada. It impacted badly on economy, social organization, and politics of the Prairie region. Various factors such as low wheat prices in the international market, fall of export markets during the depression, insufficient financial investments lowered the economy of the Prairie region. The economic and political situation worsened in the British Columbia during the Depression as well as after the World War II. The Prairie West depended on the farming as their main occupation while British Columbia depended on forestry, mining and fishing. After the World War II, the Prairie West witnessed Alberta dominated by the energy industry whereas Saskatchewan and Manitoba maintained their economy by the replacing the farm sectors with the economic sectors. British Colombia acquired its name in energy and transportation sectors. The post 1945 period experienced differences in class, race, gender, and ethnicity. Prairie and British Columbia underwent changes such as population variability, establishment of national social insurance programs etc. In 2000s, the energy companies made its way towards Alberta and Saskatchewan. • 4. The Life Of A Slave Girl By Harriet Jacob Essay The Impact of an Audience The introductory line of Harriet Jacob s preface to Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Reader, be assured this narrative is no fiction , is short yet serving (Jacobs 224). Although brief in its nature, this statement manages to encompass two major aspects that characterize African American literature: audience and truth. In all writing, understanding the target audience and how to arrange an argument or essay to appeal to that specific crowd is paramount. However, it is especially important for African American authors, who typically need to expose injustices or call for social change in their works. In particular, two African American authors who understood their audience and how to manipulate that understanding were Charles W. Chesnutt and Marcus Garvey. Although they were born only twenty nine years apart, Chesnutt and Garvey technically wrote for different time periods. While Chesnutt s work is associated with Literature of the Reconstruction , Garvey was grouped with authors and activists from the Harlem Renaissance (Gates and Smith 580 ). The separation of their literary epochs drove Chesnutt and Garvey to write for contradistinctive audiences that demanded unique written techniques and rhetorical strategies, but that both asked for utmost honesty. For starters, although born in Ohio, Charles W. Chesnutt was raised in North Carolina. Consequently, this relocation provided him with a front row seat to witness the Reconstruction that ... All adults and professionals that work with have a responsibility for keeping them safe. This involves identifying concerns, sharing information and taking prompt action. In order to do this in an effective way; professionals need to work in partnership with each other. Individual children, especially some of the most vulnerable children and those at greatest risk of harm and social exclusion, will need to coordinate help from health, education, early years, children s social care, and the voluntary sector and other agencies, including youth justice services. To provide adequate safeguarding measures it helps to have a complete picture of the child. To work in partnership means that each professional and agency work together with the other agencies in contact with a child that they have safeguarding and welfare concerns about. In this discipline there are subdivisions such as cultural anthropology and primatology, and the beauty of anthropology is that you can more than you think, link some of your life event to some anthropological context. Cultural anthropology is one of the four fields of anthropology. It looks for patterns of beliefs or behaviours in a group and how they are connected. • 8. Analysis Of The Movie Zac Beaulieu Essay Throughout adolescence and high school, students go through many experiences trying to figure out who they are and how they want to represent themselves. Zac Beaulieu, the protagonist in the film C.R.A.Z.Y., went through this transitional phase unlike most teenagers who live in Quebec s 1970 s heteronormative society. As a queer trying to figure out his sexual identity, Zac goes through an unexpected journey when his non heteronormative ways start to show. It started when Zac realized he was a little different than the other kids, and especially his brothers. Instead of being a jock or a nerd like his two of his brothers, he enjoyed to dressing up in his mother s cloths, playing with babies, and pushing his baby brother s carriage down the street. It was at this moment when his father caught him dressed up in his mother s clothes talking to his little baby brother that he had unwittingly declared war on his father . Throughout the movie, Zac has many experiences which ultimately led him and his family to embrace his sexuality. Using music as an expression of his sexuality, Zac has been able to learn from each of his experiences and understand and appreciate the person he has become and was born to be. Some terms that I will use throughout my research essay are queer, cisgender, heteronormativity, and social identity. I will define these terms to convey a more uniform understanding of the term and its use in this research paper. Using the University of Michigan s definition, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Wealth, Wisdom And Weakness Of King Solomon The Wealth, Power, Wisdom and Weakness of Solomon Throughout history there have been many different types of leaders. There have been kings, emperors, pharaohs, presidents, dictators, and tyrants who have led many countries and nations. Rulers can be beneficial, malevolent, kind, brutal, or completely ineffective. King Solomon was a very rich, wise, and famous king of ancient Israel. He was the son of King David and Bathsheba. Bathsheba wanted her son to rule, so David had Solomon anointed king before he died. David s older son, Adonijah, wanted his father s kingdom and threatened Solomon s throne. So Solomon sent a messenger to kill Adonijah and his allies, thus securing his throne. Solomon overcame the last potential threats to his kingdom by killing his brother and his brother s allies. King Solomon then secured his throne by appointing his friends to high positions of power. The author of the book of Kings, in the Bible, is unknown, or anonymous. It is likely that during Solomon s reign Israeli history started being written down. It is also likely that a Hebrew wrote the book of Kings due to a bias in favor of Solomon. Hebrews had a very positive view of Solomon because he built The First Temple which housed the Arc of the Covenant, a vital relic to the Hebrew people said to contain the Ten Commandments. It took him seven and a half years to build this Temple to honor their one, true God. King Solomon s reign is thought to be circa 965 B.C. to about 927 B.C. As the son of David and chosen heir to the throne, Solomon was made King towards the end of his father s reign, while David was still alive. Solomon inherited a very large kingdom from his father. Solomon accumulated enormous wealth. He controlled the entire region west of the Euphrates and had peace on his borders...He had a large share in the trade between northern and southern countries. He established Israelite colonies around his province to look after military, administrative and commercial matters (Jewish). Solomon was extraordinarily wise in how he set up his kingdom. He made sure to establish peace with the surrounding countries so that he could trade with them and gain more profit. He divided his kingdom wisely so that he could rule ... Deteriorating Patient Essay Effective observation of patient is the first crucial phase to identify deteriorating patients and apply effective measure to care for them (Mandy, Christina David, 2009). Nurse s role is taking care of patients, supporting, and helping them recovery them from disease or any medical condition they came with and improving their quality of lives and get, them back to community to function as normal. Partial experience and basic level knowledge can make it difficult to care for deteriorating patients. Reporting the doctor about any concerns regarding any changes of the patients can resolve the patients. The lack of communication between disciplinary teams and the nurses can be a cause for untimely action taken for deteriorating patients. The verbal information given to the doctor can be irrelevant sometimes. Hence, it s very crucial in a health setting to recognize the deteriorating patients. • 14. Analysis Of The Fish By Elizabeth Bishop When Elizabeth Bishop writes a poem of someone s experience catching a fish, the person catching the fish, presumed as the narrator, describes the fish s intricate details which essentially gives it an ugly appearance. In an explication of The Fish, the analyzer also notes how the narrator s descriptions yield an ugly appearance of the fish, but with further observation, the narrator realizes the beauty deep within the fish and the fact that the fish is a warrior. The ugly description of the outside of the fish correlates with how some people tend to make a quick judgment based on someone s appearance without taking the time to think about what their personality or characteristics include. Or even to think about what that person has been through that has caused them to look that way. Evidently, as the poem continues, the narrator reveals that the fish has been through at least five battles, according to the physical scars left in its jaw. The fish, a symbol for anyone who has dealt with difficulties during their life, will persevere even while the outside world continues its routine. The world will never stop for one person or, in this case, an animal from the poem, The Fish. All other people follow through with their daily tasks and the sun still shines in the morning. Comparably, in The Fish, the crickets went on with their chatter and the soft rain incessantly fell on the leaves and in the lake. Many nations surrounding the Jewish State condemn the close relationship between the United States and Israel because the United States has contributed to the preservation of the Jewish nation. The Arab resistance yearns to take total dominion over the west bank of Israel. The Importance Of Being Earnest With An Ideal Husband A play of manners is realistic in the sense that the satire is still representative of the foolishness of real people. ...there are characters in it that can always recognize a fool. The laughter that the witty young bucks of the older comedy share with the audience at the expense of a fool or fop unites the real world and the world of the play by showing that the same criteria for reason and unreason are valid in both (Foster, 19). Reinert compares The Importance of Being Earnest with An Ideal Husband. In his earlier play, Lord Goring is a hero who seems flippant and shallow but is later shown to have wit and character. Whereas, in Earnest the characters remain fools throughout the play. The heroes , Jack and Algernon, seem to respect Prism and Chasuble who are meant to be the foolish characters. Addict gamers appeared to have more of a impulsiveness control than the normal gamer. Players who had played online showed an increase of gray matter density from the other players in the left anterior cingulate cortex. Another thing I found interesting in this article was that higher amounts of dopamine appeared in addict gamers from the reward process in videogames than the casual gamer. The Cambridge gambling task ( which affects the brain in making poor decisions) was found higher in addict gamers. Not only that, but addict gamers appeared to have a slower information processing than normal players. What I took away from the article was that video game addiction could be linked backed to the same effects on the brain as drug abuse, or impulsive control disorders. Playing video games regularly may not trigger these effects, but the heavy usage of video games appears to affect the rewarding process which thus releases a higher dopamine in the brain. The flow of capital, information, goods and services, and people are among the more readily measured indicators of such links between large cities. Generally, there has been a net transfer of funds from the worlds developed economies to countries in the developed world. The decision makers directing these flows are typically located in world cities, such as London, while these on whom the decision impacts are often found in the old industrial centres of the developed world, where the cash is being redirected form. This also has a major effect on those in the developing world, which is the areas to which capital is being directed. This resulted in factory closures and high unemployment in the old manufacturing centres of the developed world and factory openings and job creation in the low cost economies of the developing world. There have been many attempts to compute the linkages between global cites such as London, one such attempt focuses on the concept connectivity. This is essentially a measure of the flows of information, knowledge, and direction between the international office networks of global services, these being the most basic agents of the formation of the world city network. Based on these criteria London s strongest links are with North American cities such as New York, Washington DC and Chicago, as well as some Asian cities such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. But by staying true to her values, she thought of her future and wanted to raise her child with the same tenacity and pride she acquired through early misery. Furthermore, another factor in discerning solutions to pain is the complexity of one s intimacy with close family and friends. Intimacy can be defined as a personal relationship where emotions and experiences are shared between two or more people. Most individuals have at least one intimate interpersonal relationship with another person. While the majority of a positive human connection is meant to be happy and enjoyable, occasionally problems arise. Issues could include stress, miscommunication, or lack of intimacy. Problems between people are difficult to avoid but what can be certain is that humans have the ability to respond to those issues in their own unique way. In the field of psychology, attachment theory attempts to explain how human beings respond to certain situations such as arguing or separation. I was excited to receive a syndrome to which I had not been exposed. I was assigned etiology, history, and incidence/prevalence. I learned that VCFS originates from the Latin words velum which means palate, cardia which means heart, and facies which means having to do with the face. It is the most common syndrome associated with cleft palate! Additionally, VCFS is an autosomal dominant condition. This means that once a person is recognized as having VCFS, they have a 50 percent chance of passing the syndrome on to their offspring. VCFS is characterized by a small deletion of chromosome 22, more specifically in the region of 22q11.2. This deletion results in about 30 genes becoming absent from chromosome 22. Two genes in particular COMT and TBX1 are associated with VCFS (not all genes that cause VCFS have been identified). However, I am not sure why these genes are involved. I tried to research the reason, but could not find a plausible explanation. I also learned that more often than not, neither parent of a child with VCFS has the deletion of 22q11.2. This means that the condition is NEW in 93 percent of offspring. The good news is that the chance for the couple to produce another child with VCFS is close to zero. These sequences used to be referred to as junk DNA until they were recognized that they were influencing the expression of genes. Scientists have combined phylogenetics (the study of evolutionary relationships between different species) with genomics (the study of how the genome of an organism conditions its biology). From comparing genomes of 203 vertebrates, they traced the first origin of KZFPs back to a common ancestor of tetrapods (four legged animals) and coelacanth (a fish that evolved over 400 million years ago). This helps learn more about its fundamental importance. KZFPs can transform transposable elements into fine tuned regulatory platforms that influence the expression of genes. The play has elements of both genres, but one is clearly prevalent. While the story hits upon the tragic element of despair, The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, is a comedy because lovers are separated, characters are in disguise, and the story has a happy ending. From the very beginning of The Merchant of Venice, we see the comedic element of lovers being separated time and time again. First, Jessica and Lorenzo are not permitted to marry or see each other because of their different religions and her father s fervent hatred for Christians. This separation between Bassanio and Portia allows the audience to connect with the irony of these young lovers struggle. These separations between lovers lead to another element of comedy costumes. Of the three women in this play, each dresses as a man once, furthering the comedic air with clever disguises. Jessica starts off the chain of costumes by dressing up as a torchbearer to flee from her father s house. Cupid himself would blush / To see me thus transformed to a boy (2.vi.39 40). One of the most common assumptions has been that the ancient Jews have always been monotheistic. Yet, upon closer examination, this conventional wisdom is inaccurate. Ugaritic texts, archeological data, and the Biblical narrative itself all demonstrate that the ancient Jews were not monotheistic, contrary to what many believe. In fact, there is proof that they acknowledged and sometimes worshipped other gods, as late as the seventh century CE. In order to grasp what this means, there needs to be an understanding of who the ancient Jews were, who their neighbors were, and what was worshipped at the time. To understand what the ancient Jews believed in, we first must define who these ancient Jews were. The first mention of ancient Jews in history is in the year 1207 BCE. In the book, Ancient Inscriptions: Voices from the Biblical World, an Egyptian King Merneptah tries to conquer many lands through his campaign to achieve greatness. He writes about his conquests and mentions Israel by saying, Israel is laid to waste, his seed is no more. The Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth is a combination medium that contains peptone, glucose, and a phosphate buffer that produce proteins, fermentable carbohydrates, and a consistent pH level (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). The Methyl Red test uses the Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth to determine if an organism produces stable or unstable acid by performing a mixed acid fermentation of glucose. If an organism produces a stable acid, it is positive for executing the mixed acid fermentation which then lowers the pH level in the broth to 4.4 and turns it red. Unstable acids convert to neutral products and the broth will stay yellow or turn orange, both indicate a negative mixed acid fermentation (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). Two of the four bacteria used had red broth indicating positive test results for mixed acid fermentation with glucose, they were Escherichia coli and Proteus vulgaris, my known bacteria. They have been online for a few years and somehow they are still going. The owner Jordan Welsh, which is thought to be an alias, has been involved with other scam sites Six Dollar Clicks, Ten Dollar Clicks, NeoDollar, Bux Inc and perhaps more. Another name that comes up when researching these sites is Michael Pratt, who is a well known scammer. However, he claims not to be running the scam sites, he sells the scripts that make the sites function. Anyways, although convinced this was a scam I signed up to have a closer look. What is Two Dollar Click? This is an advertising platform, either you can pay to place ads or get paid to watch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To have more ads to view you will have to upgrade to premium membership. In order to be paid you need to have earnt at least $1000, which is a huge amount. Most PTC sites have payment thresholds of a few dollars. The payments can be made through Paypal or Payza. Payments are made on a net 60 basis, which means you will recieve your money 60 days after asking for it. I don t think you should be under any illusion, you will never be paid. Well known PTC sites that have been around for a few years rarely offer ads to watch even at $1. So $2 a click is not possible, don t be taken in by the hype. How do Two Dollar Click make money? To fund the click payments they provide advertising. For an ad to be watched or clicked 1000 times it only costs $5 or 1/2 a cent per click. You can order up to 25000 clicks, always for the same price of 1/2 cent per click. Premium members can also buy banner ads. Consequently, Two Dollar Click are paying out $2 for something for which they are paid 1/2 cent. Who pays the other $1.995? No one, they cannot generate sufficient money to pay their members, clearly this is unsustainable. Premium Memberships

Romeo tells him about his love for Juliet and asks him to marry them. Friar Lawrence is shocked that Romeo has moved on so suddenly so he gives a dramatic speech to Romeo. Shakespeare uses meaningful images, melodic diction, and dramatic hyperboles to express the nature of love. In the following lines, Shakespeare illustrates how young and immature men are bound to fall in and out of love in an instant. Friar Lawrence starts out by exclaiming, Jesu Maria, what a deal of brine / Hath washed thy sallow cheeks for Rosaline! (2.3.73 74). The hyperbole used in these lines emphasize the short span of time for which it took Romeo to transition from mourning over Rosaline to loving Juliet. In addition, Friar also mentions an old tear that is not washed off yet (2.3.80) to continually present the quickness in which Romeo was able to change both emotions and lovers. Romeo s love for Rosaline was so recent that a tear from when he was crying could still be seen. Lawrence also follows up with a melodic diction with the repetition of the th sound through If e er thou wast thyself and these woes thine, / Thou and these woes were all for Rosaline (2.3.81 82). The th sound is usually a very long sound that can be held for a long time. Friar uses this to symbolize how he believes that love is pleasant, and therefore should last a long time. Previously, Romeo was so in love with Rosaline that he expressed his love for her by making her seem like a god. He stated, The all seeing sun / Ne er saw her match since first the world begun (1.2.99 100). Through this hyperbole, Romeo emphasizes the extremity of Rosaline s beauty. However, now he has changed his mind already, saying that Juliet is a holy shrine . When Romeo sees someone that he likes, he immediately praises their beauty without ever questioning his own foolishness. The motif of Romeo s foolishness is the reason that he will never be able to stay in a stable relationship. Therefore, Romeo does not and will most likely never understand the true meaning of ... The process of moving business outside these boundaries is to garner an advantage either through tax breaks, lower wages, lower transportation cost and/or relaxed regulations ( Offshore definition, 2014). The paper will conclude with a discussion of outcomes between 1977 2003 using data supplied by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Assessment Economic integration aims to reduce cost and increase value for both producers and consumers. This is accomplished by increased international trade for goods and services. Economic integration has expanded markets by which firms can play . Firms are more self serving, their motive is to reduce cost and increase profits. To do this firms have begun to off shore their operations. Off shoring allows a firm to lower cost and establish a presence closer to target markets. This process has become easier with technology advances. For example, information can be shared and transactions made with the click of a button. International borders are easy transcended with expansive transportation networks. This facilitates product movement and placement of resources, supporting just in time (JIT) manufacturing. They are also cheaper than gas vehicles and better for the environment! Body paragraphs: Charging stations can be installed in a location where there is a regular 120V outlet or a 240V outlet. The average electric vehicle charger is designed to be powered by a dedicated 240V outlet for just charging that vehicle. The charger that can plug into either a 120V or 240v is called the Turbocord, it is small and compact. This is the type of charger a person that travels a lot and knows they would not be able to access a 240V outlet. This charger is designed to work with either 120V or 240V, every place that has electricity has an 120V outlet. EV states TurboCord is the next generation of plug in EV chargers. It s ultra compact size provides you the flexibility and freedom to take it anywhere. Just plug it directly into an outlet and charge at home, work or play. The Dual version works with both a 120 volt standard outlet and a 240 volt outlet for charging nearly 3 times faster than your Level 1 cordset. Now with these electric vehicles and how the technology is improving every day the charging time is getting cut down, some vehicles take up to 23 hours to fully charge. EV chargers can cut that time down to 6.3 hours which is a huge drop. EV s newest charger, the Turbocord is opening opportunities for the owners of these electric vehicles. • 50. Rhetorical Analysis Of Handwriting Doesn t Matter Rhetorical Analysis: Handwriting Just Doesn t Matter In recent years, the rushing tide of typing has overwhelmed the once necessary skill of handwriting. As the days pass by computers and other 21st century electronics are becoming more and more a part human lives. Gone are the constant needs for pen and paper, often times all that is needed for notetaking is a laptop and working fingers. A recent article published by Anne Trubek titled Handwriting Just Doesn t Matter analyzes the importance of handwriting in the computerized world that is lived in today, as well as through a discussion on the teaching of cursive and other handwriting exercises in schools. Using a mix of pathos, logos, and minor amounts of ethos, Trubek is able to comprehensively convince her audience that handwriting is not as important or useful a skill as it used to be. Trubek wishes to provide her audience with a convincing argument that shows how handwriting in this time is inferior to typing on computers. In other words, her primary purpose is to illustrate the idea of focusing on typing automaticity (the ability to type without looking at keys) in schools over handwriting automaticity (the ability to write without conscious effort). This is seen when Trubek explains how if ...the goal of public education is to prepare students to become successful, employable adults, typing is inarguably more useful than handwriting. (Trubek, 2016, para. 4) Trubek argues that if public schools are working ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But what about when those secrets are incidents which breach the confines of the law or human rights. Should they still be kept secrets, should they be ignored by government regulators and poorly investigated by congressional committees, or should they be exposed and issued proper sanctions? Since the beginning of the War on Terror there have been a multitude of incidents involving private security companies which are also sometimes known as mercenary armies. These incidents, in many cases, have tried to be covered up or discredited by the companies involved. In some instances, bribes were even involved and exposed but the companies were still allowed to operate. Many of them even received more contracts from the US government! In Erich Maria Remarque s novel All Quiet on the Western Front, the author s style of writing has an extensive impact on how readers perceive the story. Remarque was a soldier during World War I, providing him with first hand experience on the effects of war. These past experiences allow him bring the novel alive using his memories. Erich Maria Remarque s style of writing has a colossal effect on the novel because of the level of detail he uses when describing scenes and moments of action. Using imagery and personification, Remarque paints pictures in his readers minds. When describing the battles, he does it in such a way that the explosions can be heard, the smoke smelled, the destruction visible. By combining his experiences with those of Paul, he brings the horrors of war to his readers doorstep. A considerable amount of literary devices that Remarque uses is in the form of personification. If you received a flat tire while driving down the road; first thing to do is to get away from oncoming traffic; at that time, find a place that is well lit, such as a parking lot. Keep in mind the farther you drive on a flat tire, the more damage you will incur to the tire and wheel. Secondly, set the parking brake so that the car does not roll away while the car is off the ground. Then, you have to locate your spare tire, which will replace the flat tire; that is usually in a compartment inside the trunk. Once the jack is raised enough to just touch the car; position the jack so that it is not tilted; furthermore, make sure the jack is 6 12 inches behind the front or rear of the tire. When you are sure the jack is in position correctly; proceed by raising the jack, so that the car will rise off the ground.
