Women’s Suffrage Movement of Europe
Throughout history, women have struggled for equality in all parts of the world. European women
fought for suffrage for an extremely long period of time before they were granted full voting rights.
Each country approved women s suffrage at different times, but it occurred in most European
countries in the early 20th century. The first country to develop universal suffrage was Finland in the
year 1906( Women s Suffrage in Europe ). One of the last countries to become open about women s
voting rights was Switzerland, who didn t grant women suffrage until 1971( Women s Suffrage in
Europe ). One of the main reasons why women desired the right to vote was because they wanted to
be able to vote for new laws that would eliminate their social ... Show more content on

Although the United Kingdom was not the first European country to grant women s suffrage, the
movement was much more successful than those in other nations. The supporters of the movement
formed the National Union of Women s Suffrage and hoped to show that women could be respectable
and responsible in their political activity (The Western Heritage). The British women s suffrage
movement was more advanced than the ones in France and Germany. Hubertine Auclert was alone in
her efforts to get women s suffrage in France in the 1880 s. The National Council of French Women
did not fight for women s right to vote until years after it was formed.
Germany had many laws against political activity for women (The Western Heritage). Therefore, the
suffrage movement was very underdeveloped. Another reason why the women s suffrage movement
was not very popular in Germany is because the political organizations did not have very much power
and influence in politics. Many women did not feel that having more power in these organizations
would help them at all. However, as the years passed, the Union of German Women s Organizations
was founded. This organization focused largely on education for women and improving their social
conditions. Women were not granted voting rights until Germany was defeated in war in 1919(The
Western Heritage).

Near-Death Experience Theory
Death is something every human is afraid of. We know it will happen sooner or later; it is inevitable.
Death takes away loved ones, it takes away people that are so important to us. So many people have
gone through near death experiences, which is why those people look at life like it is so precious.
Spiritual and physiological hypotheses are about near death experiences. While there are some
differences between a spiritual hypothesis and a physiological hypothesis, the similarities are evident.
According to Oxford Dictionary, a near death experience is an unusual experience taking place on the
brink of death and recounted by a person after recovery, typically and out of body experience or a
vision of a tunnel of light . According to howstuffworks.com, ... Show more content on

Eben Alexander, MD, a Harvard educated neurosurgeon, had obtained a rare bacterial meningitis.
Although this illness usually only attacks newborns, it got into his system, pervaded through his
cerebrospinal fluid and started to eat at his brain. He was extremely ill and essentially had no chance
of recovery. He was in a deep coma for seven days, and his brain function completely offline. Then,
on the seventh day, when the doctors discussed whether or not they should continue treatment, his E.
coli started to respond and his eyes popped open. Dr. Alexander described his near death experience to
be full of light, with many spiritual beings, and the whole place was filled with love and peace.

Persuasive Essay On Polar Bears
As the days go by, the weather gets warmer and the entire world population is affected in one way or
another. Global warming has long been an issue scientists have been trying to raise awareness of. Not
only does it bring rising average temperatures, but it has an immense impact on the largest marine
mammal, the polar bear. The rising temperatures has caused polar bears to lose habitat and are forcing
them to move downward to search for alternative food sources. As a result, polar bears will become
extinct because of their hunting habits, their meat based diet, and competition with the grizzly bear.
The polar bear is in danger of becoming extinct largely due to to the fact that the warm weather is
giving them an insufficient amount of time to hunt. According to the article Polar Bear , Polar bears
can only survive in areas where the oceans freeze, allowing them to hunt seals living under, on, or in
the frozen polar ice cap. This means, that with the rising temperatures and melting ice caps, polar
bears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They argue that polar bears will survive or evolve. An argument is that their only predator is man,
however, they will come into competition with the grizzly bear and not be able to survive. Another
counter claim is that the polar bears will evolve and adapt to their environments. Regardless of this,
UCLA Biologists say, To people who say polar bears can just change their diet, we are saying they
WILL change their diet they will have to but it probably won t be sufficient for them. Even if the polar
bear evolves to fit their environment, it will not be adequate, especially with their competition with the
grizzlies. Additionally, others say we can stop their extinction by human preservation, but that would
still require them to get used to a new environment. Taking all sides into consideration, the polar bear
is more likely to become extinct than to evolve or

Galileo And Copernicus And Galileo
During most of the 16th and 17th centuries, it was not easy for scientists to make new discoveries and
present them to the world. The Catholic Church, a dominating force during that period, persecuted
anyone who would spread ideas and opinions that contradicted what the Bible stated. Both Copernicus
and Galileo believed in the heliocentric theory, also called Copernicus theory, which stated that the
sun was at the centre of the universe and the earth revolves around it. However, the Catholic Church
did not agree with this idea because the Bible stated that the earth was at the centre of the universe and
the sun revolved around it, which is the complete opposite. Due to this disagreement, Copernicus and
Galileo were threaded by the Catholic Church and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The letter was made public and Church Inquisition consultants pronounced Copernican theory
heretical. In 1616, Galileo was ordered not to hold, teach, or defend in any manner the Copernican
theory regarding the motion of the earth. Although it stopped Galileo from teaching what he believed
for a few years, seven years later he would be right back on the same track.
In 1623, a friend of Galileo, Cardinal Maffeo Barberini, was selected as Pope Urban VIII. He allowed
Galileo to pursue his work on astronomy and even encouraged him to publish it, on condition it be
objective and not advocate Copernican theory. In 1632, Galileo published the Dialogue Concerning
the Two Chief World Systems, a discussion among three people: one who supports Copernicus
heliocentric theory of the universe, one who argues against it, and one who is impartial. Though
Galileo claimed Dialogues was neutral, it was clearly not. Finally, it was time for the Roman Catholic

Oscar Wilde Essay
Oscar Wilde was one of the most prominent Irish born playwrights. He was a major player in the
aesthetic movement, which was based on art for art s sake. Wilde was also a novelist, playwright,
poet, and critic.
He was born Oscar Fingal O Flahertie Wilson Wilde on October 16, 1854, in Dublin, Ireland. Wilde
came from a rather large family. William Wilde, his father, had three illegitimate children previous to
his marriage. They were Henry Wilson in 1838, Emily in 1847, and Mary in 1849. William provided
financially for all of them. Henry studied medicine and later assisted his father at St. Mark s Hospital.

Rhetorical Analysis Why Gender Equality Stalled
Stephanie Coontz started off her article about the 50th anniversary of the publication of Betty Friedan
s international best seller, The Feminine Mystique , which was written about the women s movement
of the 1960s. What Coontz is trying to explain is that gender equality is not stalled, but It has hit a wall
. Her title is the opposite of what she is trying to write about in the article. At first she talked about
women s rights back when the book was written. Instead of blaming the beliefs of gender roles from
individuals, she points the finger at the economy and the work family policies as the major problems
to gender equality. She explains the gender equality stalled during 1990s and the first few years of the
2000s. She brought into text the usual statics, the percentage of Americans preferring the male
breadwinner/female homemaker family model actually rose to 40 percent from 34 percent. Between
1997 and 2007, the number of full time working mothers who said they would prefer to work part time
increased to 60 percent from 48 percent. In 1997, a quarter of stay at home mothers said full time
work would be ideal. By 2007, only 16 percent of stay at home mothers wanted to work full time.
(Coontz) She also talked about how 70 percent of men and women want an egalitarian relationship
and how the demand of work has intensified.
She continued about since the work has

Revolutions Of The French Revolution
Revolutions are often characterized under two dominant schools of thought, either the structural or the
cultural viewpoint. The structural approach favors causes that are of inherent forces in the system of
sovereign nations, whilst the cultural view favors individuals actions and ideas as rudimentary to
revolution. Skocpol and Trimberger s essay Revolutions: A Structural Analysis modernizes the ideas
of Karl Marx and reconciles them with the modern revolutions that have occurred to form a new
viewpoint; the structural school of thought. Consequentially, the French Revolution s long list of
factors and participant s carry differing levels of weight in either school of thought, yet the structural
approach is more pronounced in the summation of them all. As an extension of internal strife, the
Haitian Revolution also plays an important role in highlighting this structural overtone of the French
Revolution. The duality between the Haitian revolution s class of slaves and the Third Estate of the
French Revolution proper as well as the reactions they both had to international and internal strife are
best classified under the structural school of thought. This analysis begins with looking at the logical
first aspect of structural analysis; the status of the peasantry.
The aspect of structural theory that is most glaringly obvious in both that of the Third Estate and the
slave revolt of Saint Domingue is the status of the peasantry. As noted by Skocpol and Trimberger,
revolutions

Haiti Cholera Earthquake
In the fall of 2010 Haiti experienced a devastating 7.2 earthquake and, as if that were not enough, in
October 2010 a cholera epidemic was introduced into the mix. By January 2011 the epidemic
managed to kill at least 4,000 people and infect over 200,000 (Cholera in Haiti). Haiti is still reeling
from the aftermath of the epidemic and many are still at risk of contracting the disease.
The main public health problem Haiti is facing now is how can it provide protection from the disease
and prevent further epidemics from occurring? As a developing country it is difficult to produce the
funds necessary for treatment and prevention that are readily available in other parts of the world.
Expunging certain practices from its communities also poses a challenge because the ... Show more

Cholera has not been a problem in Haiti for at least a century so its reintroduction into the population
was a matter of great dispute. The isolated strain appeared to be similar to cholera strains of South
Asian origin leading scientists to believe that the strain was imported.
The United Nations has claimed some responsibility for bringing about the epidemic as cases of
cholera started appearing near the camp of Nepalese UN peacekeepers, almost immediately after their
arrival to aid in the aftermath of the earthquake (Piarroux). These reports have caused political and
social upheaval as many protested the presence of the UN and the Nepalese in Haiti and demanded
they pay reparations for the damage that has been caused (Cholera in Haiti). The UN has been
reluctant to concede to these demands since it would open the door for other countries to sue the
United Nations so Haiti was forced to fund disaster relief themselves, for the most part, which is

Esla Rubrics
I was very interested in the lesson that we did with the students today because we used the ELA
rubrics to model good writing with the short and extended responses. We went through each of the
features of the short response first and showed students different examples of student s writing. They
then had to grade the student according to if it deserved 2 points, 1 point, or 0 points. By doing this the
students were able to see examples of good, fair, and bad responses. For the short response students
were able to learn that the most important feature of a short response was that it made a valid
inference or claim from the text that answered the prompt. The criteria for the expository writing was
a little more complex and took us more time to explain. Once again the students were given examples
of different levels of writing and they had to tell us what they thought the grade was and why. After
going over the rubrics we went back to an essay prompt the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, it was a much needed lesson. I saw many lights go off when Ms. Marquez was asking them
questions like, How many feet are in 48 inches? Many students were engaged and raising their hands.
Most students remembered how to do their conversions. They were able to explain with words how 1
foot was equal to 12 inches and therefore 12 times 4 was 48. They then had to make the make division
problem when we said 5/6 year = x months. One student was even able to identify that she could find
the lowest common denominator and multiply both the numerator and the denominator to get 10/12.
She then said that the answer was 10 months because 10 was the part and 12 was the whole. This
student was able to share her thinking with the class and was praised by the teacher. As part of their
motivation for learning the teacher showed the students a video about a teacher that makes math

How An Oems Helps Buy Side Firms
How an OEMS helps buy side firms to comply with best execution policy (in fixed income market)
Asset managers are fiduciary to clients. In the execution process, asset managers need to demonstrate
reasonable steps to determine a best execution condition, follow their defined best execution trading
policy and perform fair dealing to all client accounts on trades. . In creating best practices, oversight is
essential to foster the process. Compliance, trading, portfolio management, operations and
administration should be consulted and involved in the creation of such policy.
Broker dealers are under the obligation of providing best execution opportunities to buy side clients.
SEC states that brokers have a duty to provide best executions that are reasonable available.
According CFA institute s trade management guidelines, best execution is defined as the trading
process firms apply that seeks to maximize the value of a client s portfolio within the client s stated
investment objectives and constraints.
There are many factors to be considered when traders are executing client orders. Client instructions,
including mandate and restrictions; Price offered by the market, costs associated with the transaction,
brokerage fees; Speed of the execution, the type of market place and location; Liquidity of the market,
measuring the capability of additional transactions with little impact on the current price level; Size of
the order; likelihood of settlement etc.

Analysis Of The Play Murder At The Mic
When an arrogant musician is killed on stage everyone becomes a suspect.
STORY COMMENTS
MURDER AT THE MIC presents as a classic murder mystery with the ultimate question: who did it?
Everyone loves a good mystery. The goal is clear and the stakes are fairly high. The play offers a cast
of offbeat characters, betrayal, secrets, a twist, and a very ironic and delightful ending.
There s definitely a lot to like about the play, but with that said, there s room for additional
development.
The opening introduces most of the core characters. Greg is clearly the main character that the play
centers on. Greg s first words shitty nicely conveys his personality. Essentially, Greg is supposed to be
a shitty guy. He seems to have little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of the video camera works well too. There s a nice cat and mouse exchange between the
detective and the usual suspects.
The reveal that the detective is really the video guy makes for a good twist that the audience doesn t
see coming. However, consider the idea that once his wig falls off and they realize who the detective
really he, that they try to turn the tables on Hickman and accuse him of being the person sabotaging
the switch and killing Greg. Thus, it s at this point that he makes the reveal that Greg is still alive.
When Greg is revealed to be alive make sure he s condensing to each of the other characters to make
the delightful ending twist work even more effectively when they all conspire to kill him.
The ending is a lot of fun, but with that said, the overall humor could be elevated. It s not the type of
play that has laugh out loud moments. The tone is a bit ambiguous. Prior to the death, the tone feels
dramatic. However, as the play progresses, it feels more like a dark comedy, which is very fitting for
this type of mystery. While humor is subjective, stronger dark comedy with wittier lines of dialogue
would really make this play shine.
Greg feels cocky and entitled. As mentioned, there s room to enhance this. His motivation for the ruse
feels a bit unclear. He says it s for a music video.
This doesn t feel like a strong enough motivation. One wonders if he should tell the

Cause And Effect Of Impaired Driving
As we all know that there are many people dying or getting severely injured every day because either
they are driving under the influence (DUI) or they are victims of those people who drink and drive.
The United States is the country which has the most accidents caused by DUI. According to the article
Alcohol Involvement in Fatal Crashes , the U.S has the most impaired driving accidents. Statistics in
the article Impaired Driving show that around 10,076 people were killed in alcohol impaired driving
in 2013 in the United States. Research shows that people aged 16 to 49 are the ones who are most
likely break the laws of DUI, and teenagers are more likely to get into fatal accidents. Therefore, the
government, and other organizations have invented programs to help these people and reduce rates of
drinking and driving in the United States. For example, Reinforcing Alcohol Prevention (RAP),
Criminal Justice Policies, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) etc. However, not all programs
work the same way for everyone. To find out how to reduce drinking and driving rates in the United
States using programs, we have to look at what kind of people are breaking DUI laws, what are the
causes, and then we can find out which program will work better for a specific group. At first, we
should find out which groups are involved/ are in higher risk of getting into fatal accidents. Groups:
There are different groups who were involved in drinking and driving, and the biggest one is

Law Enforcement Leadership Is Essential For Every Police...
Law Enforcement Leadership Outline
I. Law Enforcement Leadership
a. Strong law enforcement leadership is essential for every police organization.
i. The influencing people can involve both what a manager does and how the manger does it (Dean,
2013, p. 306). ii. Lack of leadership competency is often the most critical obstacle to successful police
projects (Yang, 2012, p. 535).
b. To create an organization with great leaders, the organization has to be able to help create those
leaders.
i. It is important to understand and determine the factors that have an effect on or predict leadership
style in order to prepare leaders for the future more effectively, to teach them how to keep followers

agencies came together as one without regard to politics or infighting (Youngwirth, 2013, p. 24). iii.
Failure to thwart the attacks using available information has been interpreted as indicating a need for a
more comprehensive and strategic coordination of intelligence (Schaible, 2012, p. 761)
b. When it comes to collaboration between agencies, there is very little for department to turn to as a
guide. This creates more problems between agencies determining who does what.
i. Though there are a few mechanisms that create some degree of commonality, such as the U.S.
Constitution as well as federal laws and grants, there is no centralized authority responsible for
coordinating the cornucopia of law enforcement agencies existing at every level of government
(Stewart, 2011, p. 409).
IV. Public Perception
a. The way leaders use their power greatly affects the way in which the community they serve
perceives them.
i. While elected officials are charged with managing the administration of criminal justice, they
always do so with an eye toward politics, and herein lies an important source of the tension between

Reality Is A Hard Trail
Reality is a hard trail that everyone in the world has to face. Reality comes with many aspects that are
constantly changing and that can be confusing or scary to many people. Coming to terms with reality
is difficult sometimes but, no one must shy from aspects of reality for that reason. If they were to shy
away and hide themselves from knowledge or experience then they will never be able to overcome
their conflictions with the issue. In order to grow, people have to properly come to understand and
face harsh realities. There are no safe spaces or trigger warnings in most places of the world. That s
the lesson that the incoming students of University of Chicago, whom may expect the inclusion of
trigger warning and safe spaces into the education system, need to understand. A safe space is an area
located anywhere, where anyone can escape from things they find harmful, such as controversial
topics or different ideals. They are also able to fully express themselves, without having to worry
about being uncomfortable, unwelcome, or unsafe. A trigger warning is an essentially a warning that
the presented content through verbal or visual means, may be considered disturbing or upsetting to
many. Some students of Chicago University may think that their school is in need of these concepts in
order to protect themselves however the University has rejected the idea in a letter they sent, on the
basis that it could prove harmful to their academic freedom. The University of

Ultimately, P P computers can gain a competitive advantage through understanding the desires and
needs of their loyal customer base. Furthermore, this project will also use association rules within
customer segments to predict what items are most likely to be purchased together thus informing
future business decisions. Background: Loyalty programmes have rapidly proliferated in almost all
consumer focussed industries. In the United States alone, explicit opt in programme memberships
topped 2.6 billion in 2012 (IIDA, 2014). The vast amount of transactional and demographic data
gathered from loyalty programmes has been used by many organisations to drive business decisions.
The use of supervised and unsupervised learning has been used to gather different information about
customer desires, trends and loyalty. There are two primary modelling approaches, they are recency,
frequency and monetary (RFM) model and the customer life value model (CLV). The RFM model
focusses on three key metrics; how recently a customer has purchased, how often they purchase and
how much money they spend. On the other hand, the CLV model attempts to predict the amount of
money a customer will spend with the company from present day till the time the business relationship
is terminated. Gupta et al (2006) indicate that the main limitation to RFM models is that they use a
scoring system and do not provide a specific dollar value. However, there are successful cases where

Nurturing Donor Analysis
Nurturing Donors Organizations must view their potential donors as people instead of a potential
donation. Organizations must effectively and efficiently collect and organize data about each potential
donor in order to tailor strategies and techniques that encourage and persuade the individual to support
their cause (Weinstein, 2013, p. 110). Organizations must listen carefully to the desires of the potential
donor and use this information to create an appeal for support. Once this information is collected it
should be documented using fundraising software or an Excel spreadsheet (Weinstein, 2013, p. 73).
Although data collection and organizational systems are great, they are useless if the organization does
not use the information to request support from unique donors (Weinstein, 2013, p. 111).

Antigone decides to bury her brother and Creon s niece, Polyneices. While Antigone believes that it is
her religious and familial duty to bury her brother, Creon objects, citing the Theban civil war which
took place right before the events of the play. Adhering to Greek literary tradition, Sophocles
ultimately seeks not just to entertain the audience but also to teach a moral lesson, in this case about
the consequences that ensue when a tyrannical ruler disobeys divine rule, violate religious obligation,
and attempt to place government over religion. In developing the plot and conflicts of the text,
Sophocles explores three unique but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When one considers Antigone s actions against period social norms, it becomes apparent that Antigone
serves as a foil to the established stereotype of a traditional Greek woman who is supposed to be pure,
soft spoken, and nearly subservient, much like Ismene is. Antigone s contradiction to societal norms
serves to emphasize the severity of Antigone s rebellion as one not only against Creon but also against
society as well. From this interaction, the audience can glean that Antigone is not only viewed as
rebellious because of her actions, but also because of her sex, which inherently exacerbates the
severity of her crime. Creon s first accusations against the perpetrator of the burial support this initial
claim. Creon refers to the criminal as a he and implies that Creon cannot fathom that a woman might
commit a crime against his rule. Thus, a theme of gender roles emerges, further showing Antigone s
idealism since Antigone believes that she is able to act in rebellion of the throne regardless of
established gender roles and that she has the same fervor to fight against wrongs perpetrated by the
government as any male would have. Such defiance gives Antigone the characterization of a double
minority in Theban society: first because she is a woman and secondly because she questions Creon s
rule. Moreover, as posited by Kirkwood, The

My Major At Nicholls State University
SELF EXPLORATION
My major at Nicholls State University is Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science;
however, I plan to transfer to University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue a degree in Physics. The
process in which one would solve a problem has always appealed to me. In math, specifically
calculus, derivatives tell me how the original function acts and integrals tell me the relevance of the
original function to the x axis. Using a simple formula to find the answer to a seemingly impossible
problem that involves numbers that geniuses have discovered centuries ago is the most amazing thing
one could possibly do, in my opinion. Also, upon taking my computer science course, I have learned
how to write certain scripts. Writing these scripts has taught me of a connection between the person
and the computer; sort of like a collaboration.
Ten years from now, I can see myself finally being self sufficient; drinking tea in my own apartment
while watching TV and petting my kitty cat. Career wise, I want to work in an office probably creating
a new way to solve some sort of problem. I could see myself in the astrophysics, computer science, or
mathematics field. When I was younger, my dad and I would this game, Space Girl, in which I would
run around the house or outer space and I would jump on his back and flip over his head or, land on
earth. That s when I knew I wanted to work in an area that involved space and aeronautics. When I

The Election Of President Elect
Every four years, in early November, American s head to the polls to vote for the next president of the
nation. After a lengthy two years of campaigning and debating, America s votes were cast and Donald
Trump became the nation s president elect. Interestingly, Trump did not win the popular vote, he had
two million less votes than his Democratic opposition, Hillary Clinton. Due to the use of the electoral
college, Trump managed to win more states and more battleground states than Clinton, and thus won
the electoral college vote. This election and its results have been a whirlwind of emotions for both
Trump and Clinton supporters. Regardless of the outcome, the greatest part about knowing who the
president elect is, is that this election has finally come to a halt.
What is noteworthy about his campaign is that Donald Trump ran his differently from the average
politician. Trump both acted differently and spoke of people in whichever manner he pleased.
Surprisingly, American s thrived off of his ability to stand tall and remain true to himself. The main
argument in this election between Clinton and Trump supporters was how they were more offended by
Clinton s actions than Trump s words. No matter what Trump said, his followers still thought of him in
a positive manner.
First of all, Donald Trump ran his campaign, in the kindest of words, unconventionally. He had no
filter in debates, in rallies and on his social media platforms. While speaking one s mind honestly is a

Global Warming In Hawaii
I wake up to thunder and rumbling, its dark and my body feels as if its falling though the sky. There
are screams of terror that could only belong to the 200 people surrounding me. Confusion only lasted
a few seconds before I remember I m on an airplane to Hawaii; and right now it is most likely flying
over the Pacific Ocean. The oxygen masks drop and I struggle to strap it to my head. The turbulence is
incredibly disorienting and so many questions are running through my head right now; why did this
happen to me , and will I survive this? . Five minutes ago I was on my way to paradise and now I m
headed straight for the water. This almost seems similar the TV series Lost, but they all crash landed
on an island and survived, what are the chances. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason I was heading to Hawaii was for a job with one of the leading facilities in marine biology,
the national institute of oceanographic research. I was planning on studying the effects of global
warming temperature changes on the coral reefs close to the shore of Honolulu. One of the things I am
most passionate about is the environment, and any chance I get to understand what is constantly
damaging it, I take that prospect. On the off point of work, I had planned to take a helicopter around
the island, one thing I find absolutely amazing is how vast the world is. This job has only been my
goal since I wanted to start in marine biology and now I have the chance to, but the moment of clarity
ends and the screams return. I look to my left and there is a couple embracing each other, hoping and
praying for survival. They were my inspiration now, and I too prayed for the mercy of God. Within
split second, all the lights go out and its pitch black, you can hear suit cases and bags crashing from
the overhead compartments. I had no sense of direction at this time, the only thing I knew was where
the front and back of the plane are. I look back and I realized I don t know where the back of the plane
is, it wasn t there anymore and neither was my hope. I take it gravity is close to taking its next victims,

Market share
Market share is defined as companies sales as a percentage of total sales volume in a specific industry,
market or product area. In the local region, Qantas managed to outweigh its competitor by gaining a
toll of 65% compared to its competitor. Evidently this shows Qantas is the number one preferred
airlines compared to other competitor airlines like Virgin, Tiger Airways and Emirates airlines.
However the situation is not the same in South East Asian region as Qantas only managed to obtain
about 15% of market share compared to likes of Air Asia who leads the market share with 60% in this
region. Conversely, this is not a concern for the airlines as the airlines managed to generate revenue of
5 billion dollars, with a predicted passenger growth of 4.9% which is equivalent to 2.9 billion
passengers by 2034.

Substance Dualism Is The Belief That The Mind And The Body...
Substance dualism is the belief that the mind and the body are separate entities, consequently, an
argument for dualism is that i. minds can experience anger, ii. Nothing physical can experience anger
and therefore, minds are not physical. In this examination my goal is to show that minds are physical.
I will argue against the second premise, showing that the mind is the brain, which is physical. I will do
so by referring to the functionalist school of thought and additionally, by examining the functioning of
the brain with regard to research on neuroscience. Furthermore, I will exhibit that substance dualist
Rene Descartes work on non human animals is inconsistent with research that shows the existence of
mental states in non human animals, thus confirming that minds are physical. Functionalism is the
belief that a mental state, such as pain, is to have an internal state which does a certain job
(Ravenscroft, 2005, p. 50). For example, the pain that a human being feels and the pain that an
octopus feels may have different physical processes within the brain, but the pain is still being felt; in
other words, to be in (or have) mental state M is to have an internal state which does the M job
(Ravenscroft, 2005, p. 51). Any mental state M is defined in terms of inputs, outputs and internal
connections, and for example, the pain role s input may be stepping on a Lego piece, the output may
be cursing and finally a possible internal connection, which is the causal link

The Adoption Of Electronic Health Records
According to a survey from SK A, after an initial migration to health IT solutions, practice owners
adoption of electronic health records (EHR) has plateaued with only about a 2.8% increase from
January 2014 to January 2015. The survey found that overall adoption by physicians is 62.8%, and
that, in general, the larger the practice, the (not surprisingly) higher the adoption rates, with 77.2% of
docs at medical groups of 25 or more members using EHRs this is compared to only 54.5% of solo
practitioners adopting the technology. Why the Drop in Adoption Rates? Other survey findings clearly
illustrate the fact that while EHRs do come with benefits, most are not embraced by physicians
because of their lack of functionality and difficulty of use. According to this survey , overall provider
satisfaction with EHRs has declined by almost 30% over the past five years. Conducted by the
American Medical Association and American EHR Partners, the survey questioned 940 practice
owners about their level of satisfaction with their EHR. What was interesting right off the bat about
these findings was that only 34% of physicians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their
EHR systems compared to 61% of respondents who were satisfied only five years ago. The survey
also found: 42% of physicians described their EHR s ability to improve efficiency as difficult or very
difficult. 43% said they were consistently challenged with their EHR s ability to address productivity.

The Legalization Of Recreational Marijuana
The legalization of recreational marijuana has recently been a widely debated topic, especially since
medical marijuana was legalized in several states. Critics say that cannabis is a Class I drug that has
both negative health effects and behavior effects. However, there is minimal evidence to support these
claims, and none of the benefits of marijuana are taken into consideration when the arguments are
made. The possession and use of recreational marijuana should be legalized in the United States
because it would provide a steady source of income for the government in the form of taxation, it
would reduce the sale of more dangerous drugs since they would not be present in dispensaries.
Taxation collected from regulated marijuana sale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only that, but the jobs would be easy to access for all Americans, seeing as marijuana is fairly
easy to grow. According to Rich, Alex K,, and Alexander Stingl, who speak out about the positives of
marijuana legalization, Cannabis is very easy to grow and can be grown in relatively large quantities
in small places, such as apartments or garages. Although legalized marijuana would have to be more
regulated than this, the fact that marijuana is easy and cheap to grow makes it a more profitable job.
Beyond the economic growth through new jobs, taxes on marijuana will also provide the government
tremendous revenue. With the legalization comes an increased demand for marijuana, which will
allow the government to raise taxes. According to Jason Shubnell, Colorado recently reported $2
million in tax revenue from recreational marijuana sales for the month of January. Such a large sum of
money collected in only a month of sale shows how profitable the legalization of marijuana in U.S.
states would be. The possible heavy taxation, in combination with the economic gains from new jobs,
is an adequate reason alone to legalize marijuana. Not only that, but the government will save a large
amount of money because the amount of funding needed to hire police to enforce drug related laws
will no longer be as big of an expense. According to the Drug Policy Alliance, Washington state is
now

The Lost Generation By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Loss, wastefulness, and regret are not words that anyone wants to hear. While reading the works of F.
Scott Fitzgerald in Babylon Revisited and of Ernest Hemingway in The Snows of Kilimanjaro these
three words seem to connect to two stories together. In these stories loss, wastefulness, and regret
intertwine in the stories to better explain the struggles that people have to deal with. Both Fitzgerald
and Hemingway were part of what is called the Lost Generation. The Lost Generation was a group of
American writes who moved to Europe because they believed that America had lost all hope and
could never be fixed. In the Lost Generation by Kate O Connor, she says that, The accusation, You are
all a lost generation, referred to the lack of purpose or drive resulting from the horrific disillusionment
felt by those who grew up and lived through the war, and were then in their twenties and thirties.
Having seen pointless death on such a huge scale, many lost faith in traditional values like courage,
patriotism, and masculinity. The aftermath caused these ex pats to write about common themes such
as, Decadence, Gender roles and Impotence, and Idealized past (O Connor). As audiences read stories
written during the twentieth century, they will be able to see these themes. Babylon Revisited by
Fitzgerald, is an example of the twentieth century sense of loss, wastefulness, and regret because
Charlie had to deal with all of those problems. The reader sees this

The Unification Of Italy After Unification
The Unification of Italy
Before Unification
Before unification, Italy was made up of several small countries. These separate countries seemed to
share a common culture and language. From these similarities many people wanted to unify in
nationalism. Napoleon had invaded Italy in 1796, so unification was not possible until he was defeated
in 1814.
A map of Italy before Unification.
After Napoleon s downfall Italy was made up of: Kingdom of two Sicilies, The Papal states, the
Austrian empire, Duchy of Parma, Duchy of Modena, Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the only real
independent state was Piedmont Savoy. In 1848, revolutions swept through Europe Milan and Venice
fought against the Austrians, the sicilians fought against Naples for independence, and Rome fought
for social reforms.
French troops were sent into Rome to reinstate the pope, they remained there for a while.
The sicilians were crushed in their endeavors and in the north the Austrians beat the rebels and the
kingdom of Sardinia who tried to help them. From these results it can be concluded that the first
Italian war for independence was a failure. Victor Emmanuel the second, the king of Sardinia realised
that he would need powerful allies to achieve independence.
He and his prime minister Count Camillo Benso di Cavour sent troops to Crimea to help fight the
Russians with the French and British, in hope of gaining allies. The next step he took was to give
France Nice in return for their help in fighting

  • 2. Women’s Suffrage Movement of Europe Throughout history, women have struggled for equality in all parts of the world. European women fought for suffrage for an extremely long period of time before they were granted full voting rights. Each country approved women s suffrage at different times, but it occurred in most European countries in the early 20th century. The first country to develop universal suffrage was Finland in the year 1906( Women s Suffrage in Europe ). One of the last countries to become open about women s voting rights was Switzerland, who didn t grant women suffrage until 1971( Women s Suffrage in Europe ). One of the main reasons why women desired the right to vote was because they wanted to be able to vote for new laws that would eliminate their social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the United Kingdom was not the first European country to grant women s suffrage, the movement was much more successful than those in other nations. The supporters of the movement formed the National Union of Women s Suffrage and hoped to show that women could be respectable and responsible in their political activity (The Western Heritage). The British women s suffrage movement was more advanced than the ones in France and Germany. Hubertine Auclert was alone in her efforts to get women s suffrage in France in the 1880 s. The National Council of French Women did not fight for women s right to vote until years after it was formed. Germany had many laws against political activity for women (The Western Heritage). Therefore, the suffrage movement was very underdeveloped. Another reason why the women s suffrage movement was not very popular in Germany is because the political organizations did not have very much power and influence in politics. Many women did not feel that having more power in these organizations would help them at all. However, as the years passed, the Union of German Women s Organizations was founded. This organization focused largely on education for women and improving their social conditions. Women were not granted voting rights until Germany was defeated in war in 1919(The Western Heritage). • 3. Near-Death Experience Theory Death is something every human is afraid of. We know it will happen sooner or later; it is inevitable. Death takes away loved ones, it takes away people that are so important to us. So many people have gone through near death experiences, which is why those people look at life like it is so precious. Spiritual and physiological hypotheses are about near death experiences. While there are some differences between a spiritual hypothesis and a physiological hypothesis, the similarities are evident. According to Oxford Dictionary, a near death experience is an unusual experience taking place on the brink of death and recounted by a person after recovery, typically and out of body experience or a vision of a tunnel of light . Although this illness usually only attacks newborns, it got into his system, pervaded through his cerebrospinal fluid and started to eat at his brain. Then, on the seventh day, when the doctors discussed whether or not they should continue treatment, his E. coli started to respond and his eyes popped open. Dr. Alexander described his near death experience to be full of light, with many spiritual beings, and the whole place was filled with love and peace. • 4. Persuasive Essay On Polar Bears As the days go by, the weather gets warmer and the entire world population is affected in one way or another. Global warming has long been an issue scientists have been trying to raise awareness of. Not only does it bring rising average temperatures, but it has an immense impact on the largest marine mammal, the polar bear. The rising temperatures has caused polar bears to lose habitat and are forcing them to move downward to search for alternative food sources. As a result, polar bears will become extinct because of their hunting habits, their meat based diet, and competition with the grizzly bear. The polar bear is in danger of becoming extinct largely due to to the fact that the warm weather is giving them an insufficient amount of time to hunt. According to the article Polar Bear , Polar bears can only survive in areas where the oceans freeze, allowing them to hunt seals living under, on, or in the frozen polar ice cap. This means, that with the rising temperatures and melting ice caps, polar bears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They argue that polar bears will survive or evolve. An argument is that their only predator is man, however, they will come into competition with the grizzly bear and not be able to survive. Another counter claim is that the polar bears will evolve and adapt to their environments. Regardless of this, UCLA Biologists say, To people who say polar bears can just change their diet, we are saying they WILL change their diet they will have to but it probably won t be sufficient for them. Even if the polar bear evolves to fit their environment, it will not be adequate, especially with their competition with the grizzlies. Additionally, others say we can stop their extinction by human preservation, but that would still require them to get used to a new environment. Taking all sides into consideration, the polar bear is more likely to become extinct than to evolve or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Galileo And Copernicus And Galileo During most of the 16th and 17th centuries, it was not easy for scientists to make new discoveries and present them to the world. The Catholic Church, a dominating force during that period, persecuted anyone who would spread ideas and opinions that contradicted what the Bible stated. Both Copernicus and Galileo believed in the heliocentric theory, also called Copernicus theory, which stated that the sun was at the centre of the universe and the earth revolves around it. However, the Catholic Church did not agree with this idea because the Bible stated that the earth was at the centre of the universe and the sun revolved around it, which is the complete opposite. Due to this disagreement, Copernicus and Galileo were threaded by the Catholic Church and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The letter was made public and Church Inquisition consultants pronounced Copernican theory heretical. In 1616, Galileo was ordered not to hold, teach, or defend in any manner the Copernican theory regarding the motion of the earth. Although it stopped Galileo from teaching what he believed for a few years, seven years later he would be right back on the same track. In 1623, a friend of Galileo, Cardinal Maffeo Barberini, was selected as Pope Urban VIII. He allowed Galileo to pursue his work on astronomy and even encouraged him to publish it, on condition it be objective and not advocate Copernican theory. In 1632, Galileo published the Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, a discussion among three people: one who supports Copernicus heliocentric theory of the universe, one who argues against it, and one who is impartial. Though Galileo claimed Dialogues was neutral, it was clearly not. Finally, it was time for the Roman Catholic Church to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Rhetorical Analysis Of Betty Friedan s The Feminine... Daysha Caldwell Dr. Sara Day Comp II March 11, 2015 Rhetorical Analysis Why Gender Equality Stalled Stephanie Coontz started off her article about the 50th anniversary of the publication of Betty Friedan s international best seller, The Feminine Mystique , which was written about the women s movement of the 1960s. What Coontz is trying to explain is that gender equality is not stalled, but It has hit a wall . Her title is the opposite of what she is trying to write about in the article. At first she talked about women s rights back when the book was written. Instead of blaming the beliefs of gender roles from individuals, she points the finger at the economy and the work family policies as the major problems to gender equality. She explains the gender equality stalled during 1990s and the first few years of the 2000s. She brought into text the usual statics, the percentage of Americans preferring the male breadwinner/female homemaker family model actually rose to 40 percent from 34 percent. Between 1997 and 2007, the number of full time working mothers who said they would prefer to work part time increased to 60 percent from 48 percent. In 1997, a quarter of stay at home mothers said full time work would be ideal. By 2007, only 16 percent of stay at home mothers wanted to work full time. (Coontz) She also talked about how 70 percent of men and women want an egalitarian relationship and how the demand of work has intensified. She continued about since the work has ... • 8. Revolutions Of The French Revolution Revolutions are often characterized under two dominant schools of thought, either the structural or the cultural viewpoint. The structural approach favors causes that are of inherent forces in the system of sovereign nations, whilst the cultural view favors individuals actions and ideas as rudimentary to revolution. Skocpol and Trimberger s essay Revolutions: A Structural Analysis modernizes the ideas of Karl Marx and reconciles them with the modern revolutions that have occurred to form a new viewpoint; the structural school of thought. Consequentially, the French Revolution s long list of factors and participant s carry differing levels of weight in either school of thought, yet the structural approach is more pronounced in the summation of them all. As an extension of internal strife, the Haitian Revolution also plays an important role in highlighting this structural overtone of the French Revolution. The duality between the Haitian revolution s class of slaves and the Third Estate of the French Revolution proper as well as the reactions they both had to international and internal strife are best classified under the structural school of thought. This analysis begins with looking at the logical first aspect of structural analysis; the status of the peasantry. The aspect of structural theory that is most glaringly obvious in both that of the Third Estate and the slave revolt of Saint Domingue is the status of the peasantry. • 9. Haiti Cholera Earthquake In the fall of 2010 Haiti experienced a devastating 7.2 earthquake and, as if that were not enough, in October 2010 a cholera epidemic was introduced into the mix. By January 2011 the epidemic managed to kill at least 4,000 people and infect over 200,000 (Cholera in Haiti). Haiti is still reeling from the aftermath of the epidemic and many are still at risk of contracting the disease. The main public health problem Haiti is facing now is how can it provide protection from the disease and prevent further epidemics from occurring? As a developing country it is difficult to produce the funds necessary for treatment and prevention that are readily available in other parts of the world. Expunging certain practices from its communities also poses a challenge because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cholera has not been a problem in Haiti for at least a century so its reintroduction into the population was a matter of great dispute. The isolated strain appeared to be similar to cholera strains of South Asian origin leading scientists to believe that the strain was imported. The United Nations has claimed some responsibility for bringing about the epidemic as cases of cholera started appearing near the camp of Nepalese UN peacekeepers, almost immediately after their arrival to aid in the aftermath of the earthquake (Piarroux). These reports have caused political and social upheaval as many protested the presence of the UN and the Nepalese in Haiti and demanded they pay reparations for the damage that has been caused (Cholera in Haiti). The UN has been reluctant to concede to these demands since it would open the door for other countries to sue the United Nations so Haiti was forced to fund disaster relief themselves, for the most part, which is devastating for a country of low socioeconomic ... • 10. Esla Rubrics I was very interested in the lesson that we did with the students today because we used the ELA rubrics to model good writing with the short and extended responses. We went through each of the features of the short response first and showed students different examples of student s writing. They then had to grade the student according to if it deserved 2 points, 1 point, or 0 points. By doing this the students were able to see examples of good, fair, and bad responses. For the short response students were able to learn that the most important feature of a short response was that it made a valid inference or claim from the text that answered the prompt. The criteria for the expository writing was a little more complex and took us more time to explain. Once again the students were given examples of different levels of writing and they had to tell us what they thought the grade was and why. After going over the rubrics we went back to an essay prompt the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it was a much needed lesson. I saw many lights go off when Ms. Marquez was asking them questions like, How many feet are in 48 inches? Many students were engaged and raising their hands. Most students remembered how to do their conversions. They were able to explain with words how 1 foot was equal to 12 inches and therefore 12 times 4 was 48. They then had to make the make division problem when we said 5/6 year = x months. One student was even able to identify that she could find the lowest common denominator and multiply both the numerator and the denominator to get 10/12. She then said that the answer was 10 months because 10 was the part and 12 was the whole. This student was able to share her thinking with the class and was praised by the teacher. As part of their motivation for learning the teacher showed the students a video about a teacher that makes math lessons fun and solves math application problems with his ... The only thing I regret about the preparation of this speech was waiting till the last minute to make the poster. But I thought the delivery went well. I think the only thing that went badly wrong was me having a brain fart on the speech when I had had it memorized for two days. I think it was the intimidation of peers that made me nervous. Overall, I achieved my speech calmly and confidently. I scored myself a 6 in this category because I did not rush the speech and I did not have a shaky speaking voice. STORY COMMENTS MURDER AT THE MIC presents as a classic murder mystery with the ultimate question: who did it? Everyone loves a good mystery. The goal is clear and the stakes are fairly high. The play offers a cast of offbeat characters, betrayal, secrets, a twist, and a very ironic and delightful ending. There s definitely a lot to like about the play, but with that said, there s room for additional development. The opening introduces most of the core characters. When Greg is revealed to be alive make sure he s condensing to each of the other characters to make the delightful ending twist work even more effectively when they all conspire to kill him. The ending is a lot of fun, but with that said, the overall humor could be elevated. It s not the type of play that has laugh out loud moments. The tone is a bit ambiguous. Prior to the death, the tone feels dramatic. However, as the play progresses, it feels more like a dark comedy, which is very fitting for this type of mystery. While humor is subjective, stronger dark comedy with wittier lines of dialogue would really make this play shine. Greg feels cocky and entitled. As mentioned, there s room to enhance this. For example, Reinforcing Alcohol Prevention (RAP), Criminal Justice Policies, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) etc. However, not all programs work the same way for everyone. To find out how to reduce drinking and driving rates in the United States using programs, we have to look at what kind of people are breaking DUI laws, what are the causes, and then we can find out which program will work better for a specific group. At first, we should find out which groups are involved/ are in higher risk of getting into fatal accidents. In the United States alone, explicit opt in programme memberships topped 2.6 billion in 2012 (IIDA, 2014). There are two primary modelling approaches, they are recency, frequency and monetary (RFM) model and the customer life value model (CLV). The RFM model focusses on three key metrics; how recently a customer has purchased, how often they purchase and how much money they spend. On the other hand, the CLV model attempts to predict the amount of money a customer will spend with the company from present day till the time the business relationship is terminated. • 20. The Conflict Of Sophocles Antigone Sophocles Antigone centers around a familial feud that develops between Antigone and Creon when Antigone decides to bury her brother and Creon s niece, Polyneices. While Antigone believes that it is her religious and familial duty to bury her brother, Creon objects, citing the Theban civil war which took place right before the events of the play. Adhering to Greek literary tradition, Sophocles ultimately seeks not just to entertain the audience but also to teach a moral lesson, in this case about the consequences that ensue when a tyrannical ruler disobeys divine rule, violate religious obligation, and attempt to place government over religion. In developing the plot and conflicts of the text, Sophocles explores three unique but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When one considers Antigone s actions against period social norms, it becomes apparent that Antigone serves as a foil to the established stereotype of a traditional Greek woman who is supposed to be pure, soft spoken, and nearly subservient, much like Ismene is. Antigone s contradiction to societal norms serves to emphasize the severity of Antigone s rebellion as one not only against Creon but also against society as well. From this interaction, the audience can glean that Antigone is not only viewed as rebellious because of her actions, but also because of her sex, which inherently exacerbates the severity of her crime. Creon s first accusations against the perpetrator of the burial support this initial claim. Creon refers to the criminal as a he and implies that Creon cannot fathom that a woman might commit a crime against his rule. Thus, a theme of gender roles emerges, further showing Antigone s idealism since Antigone believes that she is able to act in rebellion of the throne regardless of established gender roles and that she has the same fervor to fight against wrongs perpetrated by the government as any male would have. Such defiance gives Antigone the characterization of a double minority in Theban society: first because she is a woman and secondly because she questions Creon s rule. Substance dualism is the belief that the mind and the body are separate entities, consequently, an argument for dualism is that i. minds can experience anger, ii. Nothing physical can experience anger and therefore, minds are not physical. In this examination my goal is to show that minds are physical. I will argue against the second premise, showing that the mind is the brain, which is physical. Furthermore, I will exhibit that substance dualist Rene Descartes work on non human animals is inconsistent with research that shows the existence of mental states in non human animals, thus confirming that minds are physical. Functionalism is the belief that a mental state, such as pain, is to have an internal state which does a certain job (Ravenscroft, 2005, p. 50). The Adoption Of Electronic Health Records According to a survey from SK A, after an initial migration to health IT solutions, practice owners adoption of electronic health records (EHR) has plateaued with only about a 2.8% increase from January 2014 to January 2015. The survey found that overall adoption by physicians is 62.8%, and that, in general, the larger the practice, the (not surprisingly) higher the adoption rates, with 77.2% of docs at medical groups of 25 or more members using EHRs this is compared to only 54.5% of solo practitioners adopting the technology. Why the Drop in Adoption Rates? Other survey findings clearly illustrate the fact that while EHRs do come with benefits, most are not embraced by physicians because of their lack of functionality and difficulty of use. According to this survey , overall provider satisfaction with EHRs has declined by almost 30% over the past five years. Conducted by the American Medical Association and American EHR Partners, the survey questioned 940 practice owners about their level of satisfaction with their EHR. Such a large sum of money collected in only a month of sale shows how profitable the legalization of marijuana in U.S. states would be. The possible heavy taxation, in combination with the economic gains from new jobs, is an adequate reason alone to legalize marijuana. • 33. The Lost Generation By F. Scott Fitzgerald Loss, wastefulness, and regret are not words that anyone wants to hear. While reading the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald in Babylon Revisited and of Ernest Hemingway in The Snows of Kilimanjaro these three words seem to connect to two stories together. In these stories loss, wastefulness, and regret intertwine in the stories to better explain the struggles that people have to deal with. Both Fitzgerald and Hemingway were part of what is called the Lost Generation. The Lost Generation was a group of American writes who moved to Europe because they believed that America had lost all hope and could never be fixed. In the Lost Generation by Kate O Connor, she says that, The accusation, You are all a lost generation, referred to the lack of purpose or drive resulting from the horrific disillusionment felt by those who grew up and lived through the war, and were then in their twenties and thirties. • 35. The Unification Of Italy After Unification The Unification of Italy Before Unification Before unification, Italy was made up of several small countries. These separate countries seemed to share a common culture and language. From these similarities many people wanted to unify in nationalism. Napoleon had invaded Italy in 1796, so unification was not possible until he was defeated in 1814. A map of Italy before Unification.
