Racial bias may also influence who we choose to bond with. Another study suggest we show
empathy bias to in group members when viewing clips of people being poked with a big needle,

Previous studies examining the relationship between video games and race perception mainly
measured racial bias through Implicit Association Tests (Bosman). Not only can these tests be

Participants for this study will be recruited from college students looking for extra credit. We will
specifically request for participants with minimal to no video game experience for a more
accurate reading on the effects of video games on race perception. The subjects will be informed
that the experiment will research attention and memory. For this study, we will focus on racial bias
against Middle Easterns, a group often linked to terrorism due to recent military activities. Using

them and it causes current account deficits. The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of
current account in national economic development. As the world becomes more interdependent and
globalized, we cannot ignore the importance of a country s income and expenditure records the
current account. The current account is the point at which international economics collide with
political reality. When countries hold large deficits, businesses, trade unions, politicians, and
countries are often quick to blame their opponents and make changes regarding unfair practices.
Some economists argue that A large current account deficit is not a cause of concern if the fiscal
accounted are balanced, Lawson s Doctrine. Therefore, we don t need to worry about the current

points at David s piety as the reason for his resilience. Although the servants are still confused by

On January 8, 2011, the Wall Street Journal published an article by Amy Chua called Why Chinese
Mothers Are Superior. In this article Chua argues that Chinese parents are more successful than
Western parents when it comes to academics and musical talent. In addition, she discusses three
differences between the two parental mindsets. First, western parents worry too much about their

Last week I had two shadowing experiences that fell in line with my competencies and two
experiences that did not, but were still extremely important to client management. I worked
alongside the Sales Coordinator Ksenia, the Convention Sales Manager Teagan, the Banquet
Manager Luis, and the Sales Manager Ashley. Last Monday (09/21/15) I had the pleasure of
learning the BEO system for Marriott with the SalesManager Ashley. Marriott full service hotels
do not use Delphi for their BEO s, instead they use a B.E.O. software specific to Marriott called
C.I.T.Y. This is a very difficult software to operate, and can take months to be completely trained
in. Ashley (Sales Manager in charge of BEO s) who is new to the company and the area was
happy to share the knowledge she did know. She didn t have a full BEO implementation to show
me, but she did have a small piece to show me which I found very interesting. For this specific
meeting group, they were have a 3 day meeting that required a continuous beverage package priced
by consumption. C.I.T.Y. is interesting in that it didn t offer an option to select the continuous
beverage package; instead each beverage type had to be selected and set to price by consumption.
Although this was time consuming task, I was able to quickly pick up the procedure and input the
beverage for the last full day of the meeting. This experience lined up perfectly with my chosen

Our case study is based on Mark who is currently a freshman at MU. His father died due to illness
two weeks before Mark headed off for his fall semester at Mizzou. Despite Mark s devastation he
decided to attend Mizzou in honor of his father who was an alumni. Although, the transition
between home and school has been very difficult for Mark. He is not interested in marking
friends, often sleeps through classes and doesn t pay attention to lectures. Mark s roommate is
worried about him, although Mark just pushes him away. Mark s depression causes him to skip
class Friday and Monday morning in order to drive six hours home to visit his mother. Mark is

Imagine being at the top of the world, on a bitter cold mountain, over top of an enormous crowd.
Below where you stand, the lustrous lights are shining on a massive jump, that seems larger than
the mountain itself, created for the professional snowboard competition. This gargantuan jump will
decide whether you win or lose the competition. Becoming a professional snowboarder has been a
dream to me ever since I first was beginning to snowboard. Being on top of the enormous slope and
strapping into my bindings instantly made me relaxed and put a grin larger than the slope itself
on my face. Everytime I glide down the face of the mountain I become focused and dialed in on
my riding. When becoming a professional snowboarder as an occupation, I would compete in
large competitions such as the X Games or the Olympics to win prizes and gain popularity. The
excitement from competing in such a competition and the view the crowd would be something I
would have dreamed of in my early stages of snowboarding. The experience would give me an
overwhelming amount of adrenaline and make it feel as though my childhood dreams had sprung
legs and walked through time towards my present day self. Professional snowboarding
competitions would be give me the joy and passion as a dream job all while traveling and being
with my friends.

In terms of the theoretical issues in qualitative research, the issue of insider outsider has arisen as
one of the debated topics for some recent scholars (e.g. Kanuha, 2000; Dwyer and Buckle, 2009).
Historically, social researchers commonly agreed with the separation of facts and values and the
interdiction on employing values in assessing of truth permit researchbecoming objective (David
and Sutton, 2004:17). Here an objective research refers to researcher objectively eliminate their
own gaze in the course or research. In this sense, researchers should be acted as an outsider who
common attributes are shared by the research participants. Acknowledged by Fay (1996) that

predominating cultural capital was not easy. In other words, it takes both time and economic

For instance, I believe that anyone can achieve success as long as their put they their mind on it.
At the same time, I also believe that school was the middle ground, where all children regardless
of their economic position can learn the same cultural capital as privileged students. However,
after learning about cultural capital and the variations that exist within families, I quickly realize
how lacking the right cultural capital can negatively impact a child, not only in their educational
setting, but also on their life chances. Thus, this affected me personally because I also come from
a low income class family. Consequently, like many working families, I lacked the right cultural
capital that could have help me achieve social and cultural mobility at my school. Therefore, when
I arrive to Cal, I experienced many academic and social issues that many of the privileged students
did not. Yet, without having a structural discourse explaining me the importance of cultural capital,
I did not only felt abandoned but also incompetent about my own skills and integrity as a student.
Thus, learning about cultural capital widened my understanding because I realize now how
difficult it is for someone, who lacks the privileged cultural capital, to succeed in their life,
especially when their institutions also value the dominating privilege cultural capital. Finally,
learning about cultural capital has also made me more aware, not only of the differences that exist
within working and middle class families, but also of the social inequalities that roots from everyday
