Research Paper On Sulfur
I choose Sulfur because of it s bright yellow color which really catches your attention. I also found
it very interesting how much damage sulfur really is to the human. Plus is a very hard element to
locate due to the fact that it can mainly be found by hot springs or volcanoes. Sulfur, also spelled
sulphur, is a chemical elementwith the symbol S and atomic number of 16. It is an abundant non
metaland at room temperature is a bright yellow crystalline solid. Chemically, sulfur combines with
all elements except for gold, platinum, iridium, nitrogen, tellurium, iodine, and the noble gases.
Sulfur forms over 30 solid allotropes, more than any other element. Allotropes are different forms in
which an element can exist. I picked this element because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result of this Sulfur is the 10th most abundant element in the universe. Sulfur, typically in
the form of sulfide, is present in many types of meteorites. The distinctive color of Jupiter s
volcanic moon Io are caused by various forms of molten, solid, and gaseous sulfur. On Earth,
elemental sulfur can be found near hot springs and volcanic areas in many parts of the world.
Sulfur is commonly mined in Indonesia, Chile, and Japan. Historically Sicily, Italy was a large
source of sulfur in the Industrial Revolution. Sulfur can be found in salt deposits along the Gulf of
Mexico and evaporites in eastern Europe and western Asia. Native sulfur may be produced by
geological processes alone. Fossil based sulfur deposits were until recently the basis of commercial
production in the United States, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine. Currently commercial
production is carried out in the Osiek mine in

Lactose Intolerance Research Paper
Lactose Intolerance is a common deficiency. Over 40 million americans suffer from Lactose
intolerance. It is the inability to digest sugars in milk and other dairy products. Lactase is an
enzyme in the small intestine, low levels can effect the ability to digest daily products. For most
people, symptoms can be harmless and easily managed. Symptoms can include nausea, abdominal
cramps, bloating, diarrhea, and sometimes vomiting. These symptoms usually occur about 30
minute stop 2 hours after ingesting a milk product. When a milk product is ingested it usually turns
the lactasein to two simple sugars and then are sent through the blood stream to the intestine.
However, when you are lactosein tolerant your body carries out a different process.

Witchcraft Hysteria In The 17th Century
With Europe entering the 17th century, its citizens were still undergoing the prosperity that
coincided with the emergence of the Renaissance. Economic growth, newly structured capitalistic
movements as well as trans Atlantic expansion, became the successes of Europe and, as a result,
its citizens overcame the overwhelming death toll (due to previous wars and the notorious Black
Plague ). This led to an explicit reevaluation of life, the importance of religion, and prospects of
power which all soared to an all time high. One example of a reevaluation of the prospects of
power would be the decrees and regulations undertaken by monarchs of the 17th century in response
to the Church. Often times, secular rulers would amass power and favorability... Show more content

Women have been customarily subjugated to household labor without opportunities for
advancement for roles within the societies they live in. Unfortunately, within the 17th century, little
to no progression has come about in response to the injustice placed upon the vast majority of
women living in England. With England having endured the brunt of failures at the hands of
absolute monarchs, opposing religions taking the thrones periodically (Anglican to Puritan to
Anglican); leading towards instability for the overwhelmingly diversified Protest communities, a
growing need to seek out scapegoats for such atrocities have lead the overarching communities of
England to target impoverished, and often times, elderly women to the point of widespread
persecutions. The witch hunt that sprang in the 17th century found easy footing with an already
conservative religious government seeking out dissenters of the faith to strengthen their position in
power. The Anglican government felt it was their obligation to institute such movements of
persecutions in order to rally its people behind a unified front of faith as well as diminishing the

Differences Between American And British English
Abstract
This paper compares and contrasts American English and British English. Although English is the
root of both versions, there still is quite a few differences. American and British English was created
over time because of Europeans traveling from England to America long ago. Though American and
British English are distinguishable, both Americans and Britons could understand each other when
conversing since the versions of the English language are so closely similar.
American English Versus British English
American English is both different and similar to British English. Though both use the same basic
language, each hold different characteristics, tone, and meaning. Both contain their own vast
vocabularies, as well as different accents and pronunciations. Although the differences between
American and British English are apparent, they are often exaggerated by people.
Differences
American and British English have many differences. If a Briton were to speak to an American, the
American would be able to tell that the Briton was foreign to them within seconds. Accents,
vocabulary, and spelling are three of the most obvious differences between American and British
English.
Accents
The first thing that separates a Briton from an American is accents. An accent is formed due to
pronunciation of words, and is usually learned from the person who taught the language. Britons
tend to stress ile phrases, while Americans tend to make it the letters all into

Spider Monkeys
One of the prevailing theories about why primates have such good color vision is that it allowed
them to pick out fruits against the green backgrounds of forests and jungles (Osorio et al., 2004).
New World monkey color vision is an evolutionary puzzle because the same evolutionary pressures
for finding food should act similarly on both sexes.
According to van Roosmalen (1985), it is a hypothesized that dominant female spider monkeys
lead the group to food sources, suggesting why there may be a difference in these animals due to
their ecology. As there is only one study to date about spider monkeycolor vision and it was based
on one male and one female monkey, this study will add to our knowledge about whether spider
monkeys have similar

Jeanne Harley Guillemin on Biological Weapons
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Jeanne Harley Guillemin was born in 1943. As well as being
an author and medical anthropologist, for 25 she was a Professor of Sociology at Boston
College. There, she participated in extensive research on medical ethics and hospital technology.
For her works she received fellowships to become a member of the U.S. Senate Finance
Committee at the Hastings Center for The Study of Ethics. In addition, she was co head of the
National Library of Medicine s Health Aware Project. This was a partner project with Harvard
Medical School which tested how the uses of the internet could include proving education on
preventive health measures to the public. She married Harvard geneticist and molecular biologist
Matthew Meselson in 1986. He was an anti chemical and biological weapons advocate, and with
this came her interest in the manipulation of biomedical science by government weapons programs.
She became involved in Meselson s analysis of suspected abuse of international arms control
contracts by the Soviet Union which included germ weapons. The United States accused the Soviet
Union for yellow rain ; yellow rain is an airborne substance that sticks to outside surfaces, and if
humans are exposed to the substance, it can result in a wide range of incapacitating symptoms,
sometimes ultimately death. It was assumed that the Soviets aided the Laotian army by allowing
them to implement deadly mycotoxins to assault Hmong refugee allies of the United States

The Year Of Wonders By Geraldine Brooks
Oppression is defined as, the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust
manner (dictionary.com), and is found all around the world. There is essentially two parts to
oppression: the oppressor, who is demonstrating his power by displaying cruelty towards the
second part of oppression, the oppressed. The oppressed take part in offenses made by the
oppressor, that usually contain a cruel, and unfair burden towards them. The world has
demonstrated this profound relationship since human history first began, not only in their way of
life, but in literature. For example, Geraldine Brooks, displays the oppressors, in her novel The
Year of Wonders, by implicating strong men, and a powerful family; while the oppressed are

Panem is significantly lacking fellowship and liberation while under the oppressive rule of the
Capitol. People are suffering and working endlessly each and every day inside the districts,
while everybody in the Capitol is living a superb and wealthy life. In order for this to change,
Panem needs to reflect on these views, and change their way of life. In the novel, Peeta says,
Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to... to show the Capitol they don t own me. That I m
more than just a piece in their games (Collins 142). He has already reflected the lack of
liberation in Panem, and is now trying to envision a way to fix it. This needs to be the mentality
of everybody in Panem. Cutting out oppression, and increasing fellowship, liberation, and
solidarity, will disembody the life they are living now, and produce an improved way of life for
everybody in Panem. In his novel, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Paulo Freire also says, It is only
when the oppressed find the oppressor out and become involved in the organized struggle for
liberation that they begin to believe in themselves. This discovery cannot be purely intellectual but
must involve action (Freire). The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd, is linked to this quote.

strong, and the Jim Crow laws were still intact. Black people were treated unfairly and

Bullying takes an immense toll on a child s life. When being bullied you can leave an individual
traumatized henceforth, which can lead to long term neurosis. Children can incorporate the baleful
repercussions of bullying, which generates stress related problems such as anxiety and depression.
Furthermore, bullyingcauses dreadfully detrimental outcomes for the victims of bullies. Therefore,
these outcomes are indistinguishable to those caused by child abuse, as wells as their potency and
perseverance tend to intensify when the bullying begins at a younger age (Scarpaci, 2006).
Victims of bullying suffer from lower psychological well being, poor social adjustment, also
psychological distress. Many victims are targeted because they have low

Was England Torn Apart by Religious Revolution in the...
The short yet significant reign of Edward bought with it a series of severe changes to England and
all those within it, many of them taking a religious nature. As the once unquestionable authority of
the church became challenged by both critics and affiliates alike, England witnessed an almost
inevitable reformation. However, the impact on the majority was not necessarily beneficial as
Duffy wrote, the Reformation bought with it an assault on traditional religion , leaving many men
that breathed easier for the accession of a Catholic queen .
It is possible to perceive that England was torn apart by religious revolution as a consequence of the
public risings in the response to the changes. After their introduction, the country suffered ... Show

Catholic leaders believed they were defending traditional Christian civilization against rebellions
and anarchical forces, whilst the latter argued they were restoring pure religion and defending
against corruption and superstition. To them, the Pope was anti Christ, whilst to the Catholics,
Luther, Alvin and all other reformers were heretics. Consequently, the secular rulers sought to base
their political unity upon that of a religious nature, using their authority to compel their subjects
into adopting one form of Christianity. In contrast to Pope Leo X, who face the Lutheran revolt,
who urged secular leaders to suppress Protestant heretics by force, Luther appealed for this same
force to be used against Catholics, and even Calvin, considered to be an apostle of religious
tolerance didn t permit Catholics to reside in Geneva. Meanwhile, Spain, Portugal and Italy all used
methods such as the Inquisition and the Index to eliminate religious dissent and persecute
Protestant subjects. Therefore, this shows that despite the argument regarding whether England
was torn apart , the rest of Europe was considerably so, which could subsequently have impacted
England.
However, religious revolution in England could also be viewed as beneficial, in particular to the
economy. Throughout Europe, Princes and landlords, eager to the receive sources of new wealth,

concerning the provision of clothing and footwear provided to children. After conducting this

confirmed by the high rate of self harm. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection

The Wasps Analysis
The Wasps is a satirical comedy written in 422 BCE by Aristophanes as the Peloponnesian War was
coming to an end. The playwright s purpose for writing this is to mock the Athenian society at the
time. Because Athens also became a democracy during the 5th century, this comedy is particularly
controversial since during the time it was written, the courts were being severely manipulated and
corrupted by Cleon. In addition to this, there various other conflicts that take place during the time
that this was written. The plot centers around the protagonist Philocleon and his antagonist
Misocleon and uses the popular Athenian democratic ideology to point out its very own flaws. The
playwright criticizes both the judicial conflicts, which is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In relation to the metaphor of wasps, the text refers to the house as being netted. It seems that
there is only one door in the home giving it a sense of a dungeon like dwelling. Misocleon sleeps
on the roof and is presumably guarding it in the instance that his father tries to escape from there
rather than the door he is aware of being blocked off. The well intentioned Misocleon, tries to
deter his father from his usual routine of going to the courts to sit on the jury for less than a
livable wage. Although his plan is doomed to fail, he still attempts to save his father from his job
as a wage slave who has unknowingly pledged his allegiance to Cleon, the demagogue. Although
Philocleon does escape from his son s poorly thought out trap, Misocleon does not accept defeat
but rather attempts to reason with his father. The father s willingness to at least debate the issue
shows that he is a fair man and is willing to hear what others have to say. Based on their discussion,
the reader can see an obvious gap in generational understanding of the litigious Athenian democracy
. Philocleon is illusioned by his petty wages and is obsessed with the praise of others and the
benefit that come along with his position such as the affection of his own daughter (600 5).
However, Misocleon fires back at his partisan father explaining that when he takes into account all
of the taxes, then the income that he is so prided in, is nothing but 1/10th of what the city makes.

Strategic And Program Planning Process Within A Healthcare...
Introduction Communication in a healthcare organization is vital towards delivering better
services. Communication is diverse in where various departments must coordinate to respond to
diverse and varied needs of clients within a healthcare organization. Without proper communication,
the quality of work being rendered in the healthcare facility will be compromised. That s why the
healthcare organization should invest communication in strategic and program planning process
within a healthcare organization (Higgerson, 2013). Strategic, as used in this context refers to the
particular plan of action that must be done to achieve the defined goal or the process of developing
the particular plan with the ultimate intention of meeting the certain goal. The development of
strategies in a healthcare organization is usually coordinated in local or national level and focus on
a particular topic within a health care organization. During the communication of a strategy, the
main idea behind communication strategy is embracement and implementation of change in an
organization (Gmelch, Miskin 2011). To boost communication in the healthcare facility, there are
various techniques being used so that the target clients got the message in the simplest language
possible. There are varieties of materials employed in the healthcare centers to pass the message
from one person to another. This essay discusses the roles of communication in the strategic and
program planning for the healthcare

The Ministry Of Catholic Educations
The Ministry of Catholic Educations says that youth ministry is a response to the mission entrusted
by Christ. God told his disciples in Matthew chapter twenty eight verse nineteen Go and make
disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy
Spirit. And youthministryis one of the many ways the Catholic Church is doing this.
As stated in the Occupational Outlook Handbook, recreational workers create programs that can be
altered to specific age groups. Being a youth minister you encounter many different things. Like
recreational workers, youth minister put together programs for both middle school and high
school. The Arch Dioceses send a lesson plan of what the students should know by the end of the
year. The youth ministers will then branch together similar topics and make that the main focus for
the night. The themes revolve around the four pillars of the Catholic Church. According to the
Catechism of the Catholic Church these four pillars are faith, liturgy and sacraments, morality of
our life and prayer. This program is a fun an interesting way to bring these teenagers to Christ. A
typical night starts with snacks and games to start building a community and then officially starts
with a prayer. One of the reasons we pray is to calculate disengagement which is transitioning the
students into a more prayerful mode for the rest of the night. After prayer we go into a talk
prepared by the minister and sometimes having a

T.E. Lawrence
Thomas Edward Lawrence was one of the few impactful soldiers and scholars of World War I.
Lawrence, a British military officer, had many well known critical achievements in the war, known
to the world around us. As he overcame bullets shot his way, shrapnel flying over his head, and the
numerous casualties of war, Lawrence made a momentous impact on World War Iby helping the
Arabs revolt against the Ottoman Empire and by doing so, he impacted World War I. T.E.
Lawrence dedicated his life to raising awareness for the injustices faced by Arab people, while

In 1919, on behalf of the Arab delegation, Lawrence travelled to the Paris Peach conference.
Lawrence observed that several delegations ignored the Arabs; therefore the Arabs could not
become a self governing state. This brought great disappointment to T.E. Lawrence, but he could
not do anything about it. In the late 1920s, Winston Churchill hired Thomas Lawrence as an
advisor in the Colonial office. Then Thomas Lawrence retired from the army and wrote a
famous memoir regarding his experiences, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom. The memoir would
not be published until 1926. Lawrence slowly became popular and a well known celebrity. Part
of the reason he was popular was because of Lowell Thomas, who supported Lawrence s views.
After a few years in retirement Lawrence returned to the British army as a pilot for thirteen
years. Lawrence did not appreciate the fame, so he took pseudonyms when he rejoined the army.
Examples of these pseudonyms were Thomas Edward Shaw and John Hume Ross. After serving
on various missions, Lawrence returned back to retirement. Sadly, T.E. Lawrence got into an
accident while speeding back from the post office in Cloud Hills. Some say he lost control while
others conspire that he committed suicide. In the end, Lawrence was declared dead on May 19,
1935. Though his life came to such a tragic end, the Lawrence of Arabia would always be

Why Did Stalin Was Responsible For The Cold War
Between 1945 and 1991 there was a lengthy struggle of ideologies between the United States and
the Soviet Union, which was fuelled in the aftermath of the surrender of Hitler s Germany. America
followed a political system of democracy, hence were capitalist, and in contrast the USSR was a
communist state meaning they were anti liberal. Both countries tried to strengthen themselves and
weaken the other side, without becoming involved in a hot war. They competed for influence in the
world and wanted to advance their economic interests. Both countries aided to the start of the Cold
Warhowever, Joseph Stalin s actions lead him to be mainly responsible, rather than Harry S.
Truman.
Stalin s unwillingness to withdraw his forces from most parts of Eastern Europe increased
hostilities between the USSR and the United States. Unlike Roosevelt, Truman had a deep distrust
of Stalin and was pessimistic about the success of any negotiations with the Soviet Union at the
Potsdam Conference. Therefore when Stalin refused to withdraw his forces Truman knew he could
do very little to prevent Soviet troops from occupying most of the land, such as Finland, Estonia,
Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, much of Germany including Berlin, and parts of Austria including
Vienna. This increased the tension between both countries, resulting in the USSR to be blamed for

Getting Out Of Trouble Essay
Getting out of Trouble Imagine this: you are failing two subjects in school and you can t
graduate if you keep it up. Your parents ask, What would you like for your graduation party?
Should you lie and tell what you want...or tell them you are failing? Immanuel Kant defines lying
as an intentional untruthful declaration to another person . Everyone lies in this society that we
live in, from kids to the elderly. So why stress about it? Lying is always justified because it is up
to each individual to choose what to believe to do except for when you are putting other in harm s
way. From my point of view, lying can protect the feeling and lives of others. For example, in the
article, It s the Truth by NBCNEWS.com, Cohen states that, ...it is sometimes a moral duty... you re
lying to protect someone from serious harm... Cohen thinks that it is very necessary to liein your

can get you out of trouble at any time. Tim believes that lying can make your life easier as you

Children are showed lying since they were born, the child s parents need to show the child who

He tells of the history of Panem, the country that rose up out of the ashes of a place that was once

that swallowed up so much of the land, the brutal war for what little sustenance remained. The

something unintelligible, staggers onto the stage, and falls into the third chair. He s drunk.
Very. The crowd responds with its token applause, but he s confused and tries to give Effie Trinket
a big hug, which she barely manages to fend off.
The mayor looks distressed. Since all of this is being televised, right now District 12 is the

Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Military Draft
In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln was forced to begin drafting. Many people complained that
it was unconstitutional. This was the first mandatory military recruitment in U.S history. There
has been two more drafts since Lincoln had the first one in 1863. The argument most people
have about drafting is, if it is right? There are many pros and cons of having a draft, how the
military would go about drafting people, and how it will affect the families of those who are
drafted. The first ever draft was held in the Civil War. The South was the first to hold a draft in
1862. The men were required three years of service and had to be between the ages of 18 and
35. Later on in the war, the age limit was raised between the ages of 17 to 50. In many states such
as Missouri and Iowa, the threat of drafting was used to help speed up volunteering. However, in
1862 the Militia Act gave authority to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may also make us more apposing. Most countries would not want to go to war with an army of
300 million plus. That would help us get out of wars like we are in with smaller countries like Iraq
and Afghanistan. The draft would upgrade the quality of the U.S military recruitments (Military
Conscription, Recruiting and the Draft). It would give the military access to all the youth
between the ages of 20 and 25. Instead of having kids out of high school, who do not do anything
and do not plan on going to college, they can join the military for a few years and can help the
U.S out. It will make our military more youthful. More than a third of the new military recruitments
fail to complete their enlistments (Military Conscription, Recruiting and the Draft). Have more
military personnel would allow those who serve in the military to have shorter terms. If military

Aggression In Intimate Relationships
What Factor s Trigger Physical Aggression in Intimate Relationships And the Different Forms of
Aggression That May Appear
With Physical Aggression
Kimberly Harris
Professor
PHY 102
November 29, 2016
Studies have shown that Physical Aggression in an intimate relationship is one of the most common
forms of violence. Physical Aggression has been shown to affect men, women and families
worldwide. Physical Aggression can affect people in all stages of life, it doesn t matter what age,
ethnicity, income level or education level a person is they can still be a victim of Physical
Aggression. The Center of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violencestates that Physical
Aggression in intimate relationships is a serious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An estimated 8.2 million children are exposed to violence within their home every year (Alpert).
The American Academy of Family Physicians stated that women and men exposed to Physical
Aggression as a child are 3.5 and 3.8 times more likely to be perpetrators or victims in adulthood.
Many studies have shown that exposure to violence even when it takes place in another room has
shown to be extremely damaging to children as them being abused directly. Thus, parents who
display conflict and hostile negative interaction with each other may model unregulated behavior
for their children (Violence). The Center for The Journey of Family Violence indicated that women
who witnessed serious parental conflict during their childhood were much more likely to be
victimized by their current partner. Statistics show that 70% of female victims who have grown up
in households where they saw violence occur regularly or have experienced being battered
themselves are much more likely to become victims of Intimate Partner Abuse (therapy). Many
studies show that Physical Aggression in an intimate relationship can be the result of Negative Past
Life Experiences or a Mental Illness. In several studies, it shows that Aggressive Behavior also
known as Violent Tendencies can result from several mental health conditions such as

Sports And Underrepresentation In Sports
Asian people are under represented in America. There isn t very many of them in sports. Only
1.9% of people in the National Football League(NFL) are Asian. Only 2.1% of people in Major
League Baseball( MLB) are Asian. Worst of all Asians only make up .2% of the National
Basketball Association(NBA). Asians are even underrepresented in pop culture. White actors often
play the roles of Asians in movies. In the movie Ghost in a Shell The main character Motoko
Kusanagi was played by Scarlett Johansson. In the movie Star Trek Into Darkness, the main
character Khan Noonien Singh was played by Benedict Cumberbatch. Asians aren t just
underrepresented in Hollywood, they are also underrepresented on television. The television series
Fresh Off the Boat is the first prime time sitcom, in 20 years since All American girl by Margaret
Cho, to feature an Asian American cast. In the United States, we have more than 50 million Asians
but they are criminally underrepresented in sports and pop culture. Many Asian kids grow up and
don t have many famous people of their same raceto look up to. These kids go through their whole
life with nobody to look up to.
I have a great solution to this problem. My solution would lead to more Asian people in sports. It
would lead to more Asian people in pop culture. Asian roles in movies would be played by people
who are Asian, which will lead to films being more authentic. Asian kids growing up will be able to
see people of their same race being

Cummins Diesel Engine Essay
The Cummins diesel engine was manufactured in the year 1919 by its creator Clessie Cummins.
The Cummins was put in a variety of vehicles and the most common are in the dodge ram 2500,
3500, 4500, and 5500 series rams. It is also put into more heavy duty trucks such as Peterbilt
semis. The reason people choose Cummins over Chevy s Duramax or Ford s Powerstroke is
because Cummins are built to last longer meaning they can go more hours without maintenance.
The Cummins diesel engines have several different designs, and a number of different models, and
assembling one takes money, time, effort, and knowledge. The Cummins diesel engines has several
different designs and models of engines from 5.9 liters in 1989, to the modern day 6.7 liter engines.

Essay on The Feminine Ideal in The Bell Jar
Throughout The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath explores a number of themes, particularly regarding the
gender roles, and subsequently, the mental health care system for women. Her 19 year old
protagonist, Esther Greenwood, is the vessel through which Plath poses many probing questions
about these topics to the reader. In the 1950s when the novel was set, women were held to a high
standard: to be attractive but pure, intelligent but submissive, and to generally accept the notion of
bettering oneself only in order to make life more comfortable for the significant male in her life.
Esther not only deals with the typical problems faced by women in her time, but she has to
experience those things through the lens of mental illness though it is up for... Show more content

Despite this initial attraction to, and appreciation of, Doreen s messy, flirty lifestyle, Esther still
remains stuck in a traditional mindset. She turns on Doreen after she witnesses what she
perceives as Doreen s whorish, sloppy behavior in the incident with Lenny, where in which
Doreen had drunk herself sick and acted promiscuously with a man she had met on the street
just a few hours before. Esther even states that [d]eep down, I would be loyal to Betsey and her
innocent friends. It was Betsey I resembled at heart (22). Earlier in the novel, Doreen and Esther
had made fun of Betsey s wholesome, goody goody personality, calling her Pollyanna Cowgirl
(6) behind her back. Even though Esther was originally awed by Doreen s boldness, she feels
naturally compelled to stay true to the clean, innocent lifestyle preferred for women in the 1950s.
Esther s judgmental attitude is not just reserved for her peers. She also makes decisions about
the adults she encounters including her superiors and mentors based upon their physical
attractiveness. When Esther first brings up Jay Cee, her boss at the magazine, she describes her
as plug ugly (6), and then goes on to describe her accomplishments as if they were much less
significant than they really were. Simply because she was unattractive by Esther s standards, her
value as a person was diminished. Esther says, Jay Cee wanted to teach me something, all the old

The Conflict Between Waverly And Her Mother
However, the conflict between Waverly and her mother is very realistic, due to the nature that many
mothers and daughters have different views which causes disagreements. The people of Chinese
descent have their Chinese heritage, but struggle to keep true to their traditions while living around
American culture. The major conflict in the story, the clash of different cultures, leads to the
weakening of the relationship between the two characters. For example, when Waverly reenters the
apartment after running away, she sees the remains of a large fish, its fleshy head still connected to
bones swimming upstream in vain escape (Tan 508). Waverly sees herself as the fish, stripped clean
by her mother s power, unable to break free. Through the major conflict, the characters struggle to
keep their relationship healthy and loving. Tan explains the feelings of Waverly through an
important symbolic imaginary chessgame as she writes, My white pieces screamed as they
scurried and fell off the board one by one. As her men drew closer to my edge, I felt myself
growing light (508). This shows how Waverly feels about the relationship with her mother and how
she is losing the battle. The conflicts are important, especially to the theme, for the conflicts shows
where the lack of understanding comes from and how it can be resolved.
Amy Tan uses symbolism to show the cultures and how this interacts with the conflict of the story.
One example is she used the game of chess as more than

Why An Individual Can Have A Bad Credit Score
Ways to start rebuilding your credit score
There are many reasons why an individual can have a bad credit rating. Common reasons include
a loss of employment , medical bills and a divorce. Whatever the reasons are in your life, if you
have gone through a period of time in your life that has left you with a bad credit rating, there are
several things you can do to begin to build your credit rating back up.
First understand the major factors used to calculate credit ratings
Although there are different ways a lender will calculate a credit score, the basic credit score that
people use is called a FICO score, and this is developed from four criteria. One is payment history.
This is followed by your credit to debt ratio, and the final two are the length of your credit history
as well as the type of credit you have. In order to build up a better credit rating, you will need to
address issues that relate to these four factors.
Look at your credit report
The first thing you need to do is look at your credit report. There is really nothing stopping you
from doing this because your can get a Free Credit Report. Once you get your report, you need to
sit down and look at it carefully. There are, however, three credit agencies: Equifax, Experian and
TransUnion. It is possible that your credit report could be different from one agency to the other.
This is because not every lender reports to all three agencies, but even when they show differences,
overall, they will be close to each

There is large number of oral drugs that have been considered helpful for people with writer s
cramp, but none of them seems to be equally effective. Around 5% of people s symptoms improved
with the help of anticholinergic drugs, such as Cogentin (benztropine) and Artane (trihexyphenidyl).
Botulinum neurotoxin injections can also prove helpful, particularly in treating those writer s

not quite effective for all people, but considerable improvement in writing and reduction of pain

Stereotypes In Paradise Lost Film
To begin with, I can honestly say the filmmakers of this amazing Documentary Paradise Lost
thought that these three young men Damien Echols, Jessie Lloyd Misskelly, Jr, and Jason Baldwin

When these three defendants were in custody being interviewed the filmmakers were going back

Mexican Gold Rush History
The Gold Rush (1848 1855)
The Bay of San Francisco became the objective of ships bounds for the Pacific Coast, and in the
1840s a center of periodic trade. Upon the time of the Gold Rush, San Francisco was a regional
rather than an urban designation the settlement was still called Yerba Buena (Vance, 1964, p. 6). In
1848, James Marshall and John Sutter discovered gold near the American River located near
Sacramento, California. Both Marshall and Sutter tried to keep the discovery of a gold a secret.
However, the secret could not be contained ( California Gold Rush ). When the news of gold being
discovered at Sutter s Mill broke out, many San Franciscans did not believe it was true. Many
San Franciscans remained skeptical when an issue for March 15, 1848, the Californian
newspaper first announced the discovery of gold. It was not until a visitor from the diggings
appeared in a San Francisco store and made purchases with ounces of gold. The merchant who
received the gold put the shiny particles on display at his store, and the townspeople s doubts
began to disappear (Lewis, 1980, p. 49 50). Gold Fever swept across San Francisco. Figure 2 shows

Mental Issues In Lars And The Real Girl
In the 2007 film, Lars and The Real Girl, the protagonist, Lars, is a very emotionally challenged
man. Lars is seen throughout the film showing very obvious traits of mental issues (such as
traits of personality disorders and maybe even a bit of schizophrenia), delusions, and a very
troubled childhood. These things make his daily life a struggle for himself and the others

About 5 years ago you were snowmobile racing, and you were doing super good until you

Roderick is following the same path as the Usher s, which they have been doing for many

The line between lovers and family was never drawn for them, so the family secret also stayed
with their family. The secrets sealed in the direct line of descent (Poe 703). Another key factor
for intermarriage is to keep any property they own in the Usher s name. The family house could

it processed during its operation. The company kept sensitive personal information for its clients of
which it had no useful reason to store it. The said information was stored in the company s network
which proved insecure following a SQL injection attack that saw millions of card information
compromised thus leading to a huge loss due to fraudulent purchases using the stolen information
from the company s system.
This incident saw the FTC identify several practices that could have possibly led to the breach.
These included failure to use strong passwords, failure to employ sufficient measure to restrict
system access to computers and the internet, some of which were low cost and easy to establish
measures nevertheless, the company did not carry out regular tests to assess the vulnerability of
their system to the outside world, a situation that made them vulnerable to even the simplest
attacked.
Data breaches like these have serious implications for the business operations and could even lead
to the collapse of the whole system, where the law is applicable the Company s systems are put
under supervision to make sure they meet the newest regulation for financial data protection and
regular auditing to make sure the system is stable and secure.
2. Distinguish how the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a standard and
not a law, and how it defines requirements for information systems security controls and

PCI DSS is a fundamental standard established by major credit companies to create a baseline on
how personal information on cardholders, their transactions, and other sensitive information is
collected, transferred to requesting parties and most importantly how the above data

Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers in Residential Neighborhoods You have lived in your

Descriptive Essay Experience
Aby Adams

Trip to Colorado
My family and I had planned a trip to Denver, Colorado to visit my brother and his girlfriend. It
took months and months to finally have it all planned out, but we finally figured everything out.
We left for the cities on a Wednesday night. We stayed in a sketchy hotel in the cities by the
airport and flew out of Minneapolis around 5:30 a.m. I was so nervous, as it was my very first
plane ride. The plane was quite small. Our plane was delayed due to them having to deice the
plane due to all the cold. I suddenly started to feel sick, all my nerves had gotten to me so I
reached for the puke bag and puked everywhere! I was so embarrassed, my family and people
around me were laughing so hard at me because I had gotten myself so worked up. But once the
plane started up I felt much better.
As we arrived in Colorado, we went to go get our rental car and then headed to Pikes Peak as we
waited for Jordan and Monet to get off of work. My family had really struggled to find Pikes Peak,
we plugged it into our google maps and it took us to a campground called Pikes Peak then it took
us to a playground that was called Pikes Peak . We laughed and joked around, since we were
getting lost so easily on our first day there. But finally we found the actual Pikes Peak! We drove
all the way to the top! It was so scary driving to the top, the wind was so strong the higher we got.
Mom and I were freaking out because of how high up we were, it was so scary

Freddo Frogs Experiment Essay
Assumptions Throughout this investigation, several assumptions were made to make the process
of calculations easier. Firstly, it was assumed that the distribution of the weight of the Freddo
Frogs was normally distributed. In addition to this, it was assumed that each of the Freddo Frogs
was produced through the same machine, this way the amount of random errors would be reduced
in the production of the Freddo Frog. However, if any systematic errors were to occur, then it
would go unnoticed as the Freddo Frogs would all have similar masses. Thus, affecting the results
produced through this investigation. In addition to this, it was assumed that the Freddo Frogs were
weighed correctly, however, there may have been some systematic errors that could have occurred,
which would produce inaccurate and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most limiting factor present throughout this investigation was the limited sample size of the
Freddo Frogs. As stated several times throughout this investigation, a larger sample size produces
more accurate and reliable results, however, only a sample size of 20 Freddo Frogs were used to
minimize the economical costs involved. Therefore, the results obtained through this investigation
may not have been very accurate or reliable due to the limited sample size. Therefore, a larger
sample size should be used to obtain better results and allow the mathematical functions (Central

Passing seems like a fictional action, yet we still approve of it in today s society. In the novel,

Millford Plantation Research Paper
Millford plantation is a historic place located on SC 261, west of Pinewood, SC. Built in 1839
1841, Millford Plantation is considered by many to be the finest example of Greek revival
residential architecture in America. The house is located in such a remote section of rural SC that
it comes to a surprise to first time visitors, who must drive over miles of dirt roads and through
thick forests to reach the house. The house has massive columns, sixteen foot windows, a domed
rotunda enclosing a spectacular staircase. All these impressive features are inherent in Greek Rival
architecture (Classical American Homes). John Laurence Manning (1816 1819) built Millford
plantation, he was the son of Elizabeth Peye Richardson and Governor Richard I. Manning of South
Carolina. John L. Manning was later governor himself, and he later married Susan... Show more

However, the plantation would recover from the war to additional growth of the gardens as they
became the main focus when the plantation opened to the public. Today, Magnolia plantation
continues to thrive and prosper more and more everyday (Magnolia Plantation and Gardens). Last
but not least, completed in 1859, Redcliffe Plantation was once the home of James Henry
Hammond, and many of his decedents. Redcliffe Plantation interprets the history of many
generations and multiple families that were enslaved at Redcliffe and other plantations. Visitors get
to experience African American history whenever they please being that Redcliffe is open year

enslaved. It also reflects how the white and black families who lived and worked there had an
impact on the lager institution of slavery. The abandoned slave quarters, mansion, and the beautiful
magnolia trees planted in 1860 serve to show the plantations rich and important history

Postoperative Pain And Anxiety Essay
Analyzing the Effect of Music on Postoperative Pain and Anxiety
The effect of music on postoperative pain and anxiety was studied on an orthopedic unit in a
central Florida hospital (Allred, Byers, Sole, 2010). The authors clearly identified the problem
many total knee arthroplasty patients experience after surgery is moderate to severe postoperative
pain and increased anxiety. Throughout the introduction of the study, it was stressed the importance
and need for this research to be conducted. The authors discussed the effects of inadequately treated
pain and how health care professionals, including nursing, should make it a priority in a patient s
treatment plan (Allred et al., 2010). Several references were provided supporting the issue ... Show

The researchers included both a hypothesis and research questions. They stated a hypothesis,
however it is a research hypothesis versus a null hypothesis. A research hypothesis explains there is
correlation between two or more variables. A null hypothesis is a classification of hypotheses that
states there is no connection between the independent and dependent variables. Statistical testing is
performed to determine whether the statement is acceptable or not. Whereas the research question
is an analysis statement detailing the variables and population of the specified research study
(Adams, 2015). The hypothesis, the authors were hoping to prove, was whether the use of music
would reduce pain and anxiety in postoperative pain in a particular patient population during a
defined time frame (Allred et al., 2010). An example of a null hypothesis for this study would state
music would have no effect on postoperative pain in a particular patient population during a defined
time frame. There were four research questions the researchers attempted to answer. Three of the
four questioned the effect of music on the patient s pain, anxiety, and physiologic parameters.
However the fourth question pertained to the impact of music on the amount of opioids taken from
the beginning of the intervention until six hours later (Allred et al., 2010). The clinicians had not
mentioned this component of the study before

Examples Of Altruism In I Am Legend
Even though selflessness will always be driven by serving one s values, feelings, or desires which
is ultimately serving you, altruism does exist. Altruism exists when it requires a person to sacrifice
for another without consideration of personal gain because not every act has a selfish motive.
People must learn to contribute to life through objective reality because it universalizes existence.
Everyday life is filled with small acts of altruism. Or maybe altruism does involve being self
interested after all. Some of the things that one does do not always mean they are selfish. Let s
use the movie, I am Legend starring Will Smith as an example. Robert Neville (Will Smith) lives in
New York and although he had the chance to leave with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be honest, I know my essay is crap. I completely suck at philosophy and I don t know many
things. But I do know that being altruistic means also being selfish. Third world countries
probably view America as an altruistic hero because they basically help fight wars for other
people. But as Arundhati Roy said, Wars are never fought for altruistic reasons. Yes, soldiers do
sacrifice their lives fighting, but it s not (mostly) because they are altruistic, but because it s
their way of paying rent . The definition of altruism is the belief in or practice of disinterested and
selfless concern for the well being of others. But think about it, while helping others, don t you
also help yourself? Like you can say, hey I am going to help at a homeless shelter because I feel
altruistic today. A part of you is lying to yourself; you are going to a homeless shelter because
yes, you feel like helping others, but you are also helping yourself feel good, which is an act of
being self interested. The reason why people help others is because it makes them feel good. It
can vary anything from relieving stress to feeling guilty for something so they do something nice,
like help others, which makes them believe they have a higher chance of going to heaven. Other
people help others to be seen as a hero although none of these examples are true definition of the
existence of

Analysis Of The Dunkirk Evacuation
Firstly, Dunkirk omits several fundamental figures who were involved in the Dunkirk
Evacuation and solely includes composite characters that are based on historical figures. While
Vice admiral Bertram Ramsay ran Operation Dynamo in a room deep within the Dover cliffs,
Kenneth Branagh s Vice admiral Bolton oversees the role of pier master, organizing soldiers onto
the ships. Bolton s role of pier master more closely resembles Canadian James Campbell Clouston,
who was completely omitted from the film. Clouston was tasked with ushering troops along a port
on the beach in Dunkirk to a fleet of ships awaiting their arrival in the English Channel. Before
Clouston was appointed to the mission, allied soldiers were being evacuated from Dunkirk at

The Debate Between The And Minority And Majority, And The...
Humans shall never deem they are the saviours of the Earth because everything we are doing
today was to fix everything humans caused before. In the previous two ESS lectures, the topics
were about the sustainable ways of daily life and the new technology GMOs currently for the
poor. And in the three lectures this time, the topics are mainly about the conflict between
minority and majority, and the problems left in the history: if GMOs can help the poor, the
system to protect the ocean condition, and the environmental racism that exists in Canada. To
begin with, in the ESS lecture of Oct.1st, a debate between Dr. Thomas and Dr. Patel presents a
conflict caused by GMOs. On Dr. Thomas s position, we can find the direct advantage of GMOs
food comparing to the traditional agriculture by scientific analysis, such as the ability to resist
disease, and yields of the field. GMOs food had already spread out over the world which was
saying the technique had already mature enough to benefit people efficiently, especially the poor.
Besides, the improvement of GMO technology can also accelerate some of the other industries
like international trade, education in the Third World Country. On the other side, the social
problem that was found by Dr. Patel was different: if it was necessary for the poor to plant
GMOs. On his position, the media was telling people that GMO food was helping the poor,
however, the fact was the farmers only received a little knowledge about the current

I also found it very interesting how much damage sulfur really is to the human. Plus is a very hard element to locate due to the fact that it can mainly be found by hot springs or volcanoes. Sulfur, also spelled sulphur, is a chemical elementwith the symbol S and atomic number of 16. It is an abundant non metaland at room temperature is a bright yellow crystalline solid. Chemically, sulfur combines with all elements except for gold, platinum, iridium, nitrogen, tellurium, iodine, and the noble gases. Sulfur forms over 30 solid allotropes, more than any other element. On Earth, elemental sulfur can be found near hot springs and volcanic areas in many parts of the world. Sulfur is commonly mined in Indonesia, Chile, and Japan. Historically Sicily, Italy was a large source of sulfur in the Industrial Revolution. Sulfur can be found in salt deposits along the Gulf of Mexico and evaporites in eastern Europe and western Asia. Economic growth, newly structured capitalistic movements as well as trans Atlantic expansion, became the successes of Europe and, as a result, its citizens overcame the overwhelming death toll (due to previous wars and the notorious Black Plague ). This led to an explicit reevaluation of life, the importance of religion, and prospects of power which all soared to an all time high. One example of a reevaluation of the prospects of power would be the decrees and regulations undertaken by monarchs of the 17th century in response to the Church. Often times, secular rulers would amass power and favorability... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women have been customarily subjugated to household labor without opportunities for advancement for roles within the societies they live in. Unfortunately, within the 17th century, little to no progression has come about in response to the injustice placed upon the vast majority of women living in England. With England having endured the brunt of failures at the hands of absolute monarchs, opposing religions taking the thrones periodically (Anglican to Puritan to Anglican); leading towards instability for the overwhelmingly diversified Protest communities, a growing need to seek out scapegoats for such atrocities have lead the overarching communities of England to target impoverished, and often times, elderly women to the point of widespread persecutions. The witch hunt that sprang in the 17th century found easy footing with an already conservative religious government seeking out dissenters of the faith to strengthen their position in power. The Anglican government felt it was their obligation to institute such movements of persecutions in order to rally its people behind a unified front of faith as well as diminishing the ... • 5. Differences Between American And British English Abstract This paper compares and contrasts American English and British English. Although English is the root of both versions, there still is quite a few differences. American and British English was created over time because of Europeans traveling from England to America long ago. Though American and British English are distinguishable, both Americans and Britons could understand each other when conversing since the versions of the English language are so closely similar. American English Versus British English American English is both different and similar to British English. Though both use the same basic language, each hold different characteristics, tone, and meaning. Both contain their own vast vocabularies, as well as different accents and pronunciations. Although the differences between American and British English are apparent, they are often exaggerated by people. Differences American and British English have many differences. If a Briton were to speak to an American, the American would be able to tell that the Briton was foreign to them within seconds. Accents, vocabulary, and spelling are three of the most obvious differences between American and British English. Accents The first thing that separates a Briton from an American is accents. An accent is formed due to pronunciation of words, and is usually learned from the person who taught the language. Britons tend to stress ile phrases, while Americans tend to make it the letters all into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Year Of Wonders By Geraldine Brooks Oppression is defined as, the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner (dictionary.com), and is found all around the world. There is essentially two parts to oppression: the oppressor, who is demonstrating his power by displaying cruelty towards the second part of oppression, the oppressed. The oppressed take part in offenses made by the oppressor, that usually contain a cruel, and unfair burden towards them. The world has demonstrated this profound relationship since human history first began, not only in their way of life, but in literature. Consequently, the secular rulers sought to base their political unity upon that of a religious nature, using their authority to compel their subjects into adopting one form of Christianity. In contrast to Pope Leo X, who face the Lutheran revolt, who urged secular leaders to suppress Protestant heretics by force, Luther appealed for this same force to be used against Catholics, and even Calvin, considered to be an apostle of religious tolerance didn t permit Catholics to reside in Geneva. The playwright s purpose for writing this is to mock the Athenian society at the time. In addition to this, there various other conflicts that take place during the time that this was written. The well intentioned Misocleon, tries to deter his father from his usual routine of going to the courts to sit on the jury for less than a livable wage. Although his plan is doomed to fail, he still attempts to save his father from his job as a wage slave who has unknowingly pledged his allegiance to Cleon, the demagogue. God told his disciples in Matthew chapter twenty eight verse nineteen Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church these four pillars are faith, liturgy and sacraments, morality of our life and prayer. This program is a fun an interesting way to bring these teenagers to Christ. A typical night starts with snacks and games to start building a community and then officially starts with a prayer. The people of Chinese descent have their Chinese heritage, but struggle to keep true to their traditions while living around American culture. The major conflict in the story, the clash of different cultures, leads to the weakening of the relationship between the two characters. For example, when Waverly reenters the apartment after running away, she sees the remains of a large fish, its fleshy head still connected to bones swimming upstream in vain escape (Tan 508). Waverly sees herself as the fish, stripped clean by her mother s power, unable to break free. Through the major conflict, the characters struggle to keep their relationship healthy and loving. Tan explains the feelings of Waverly through an important symbolic imaginary chessgame as she writes, My white pieces screamed as they scurried and fell off the board one by one. As her men drew closer to my edge, I felt myself growing light (508). This shows how Waverly feels about the relationship with her mother and how she is losing the battle. The conflicts are important, especially to the theme, for the conflicts shows where the lack of understanding comes from and how it can be resolved. Amy Tan uses symbolism to show the cultures and how this interacts with the conflict of the story. One example is she used the game of chess as more than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to build up a better credit rating, you will need to address issues that relate to these four factors. Look at your credit report The first thing you need to do is look at your credit report. There is really nothing stopping you from doing this because your can get a Free Credit Report. Once you get your report, you need to sit down and look at it carefully. There are, however, three credit agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. It is possible that your credit report could be different from one agency to the other. Altruism exists when it requires a person to sacrifice for another without consideration of personal gain because not every act has a selfish motive. People must learn to contribute to life through objective reality because it universalizes existence. Everyday life is filled with small acts of altruism. Or maybe altruism does involve being self interested after all. Some of the things that one does do not always mean they are selfish. Let s use the movie, I am Legend starring Will Smith as an example. Robert Neville (Will Smith) lives in New York and although he had the chance to leave with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To be honest, I know my essay is crap. I completely suck at philosophy and I don t know many things. But I do know that being altruistic means also being selfish. Third world countries probably view America as an altruistic hero because they basically help fight wars for other people. But as Arundhati Roy said, Wars are never fought for altruistic reasons. Yes, soldiers do sacrifice their lives fighting, but it s not (mostly) because they are altruistic, but because it s their way of paying rent . The definition of altruism is the belief in or practice of disinterested and selfless concern for the well being of others. But think about it, while helping others, don t you also help yourself? Like you can say, hey I am going to help at a homeless shelter because I feel altruistic today. A part of you is lying to yourself; you are going to a homeless shelter because yes, you feel like helping others, but you are also helping yourself feel good, which is an act of being self interested. The reason why people help others is because it makes them feel good. It can vary anything from relieving stress to feeling guilty for something so they do something nice, like help others, which makes them believe they have a higher chance of going to heaven. Other people help others to be seen as a hero although none of these examples are true definition of the existence of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Analysis Of The Dunkirk Evacuation Firstly, Dunkirk omits several fundamental figures who were involved in the Dunkirk Evacuation and solely includes composite characters that are based on historical figures. While Vice admiral Bertram Ramsay ran Operation Dynamo in a room deep within the Dover cliffs, Kenneth Branagh s Vice admiral Bolton oversees the role of pier master, organizing soldiers onto the ships. Bolton s role of pier master more closely resembles Canadian James Campbell Clouston, who was completely omitted from the film. Clouston was tasked with ushering troops along a port on the beach in Dunkirk to a fleet of ships awaiting their arrival in the English Channel. Before Clouston was appointed to the mission, allied soldiers were being evacuated from Dunkirk at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The Debate Between The And Minority And Majority, And The... Humans shall never deem they are the saviours of the Earth because everything we are doing today was to fix everything humans caused before. In the previous two ESS lectures, the topics were about the sustainable ways of daily life and the new technology GMOs currently for the poor. And in the three lectures this time, the topics are mainly about the conflict between minority and majority, and the problems left in the history: if GMOs can help the poor, the system to protect the ocean condition, and the environmental racism that exists in Canada. To begin with, in the ESS lecture of Oct.1st, a debate between Dr. Thomas and Dr. Patel presents a conflict caused by GMOs. On Dr. Thomas s position, we can find the direct advantage of GMOs food comparing to the traditional agriculture by scientific analysis, such as the ability to resist disease, and yields of the field. GMOs food had already spread out over the world which was saying the technique had already mature enough to benefit people efficiently, especially the poor. Besides, the improvement of GMO technology can also accelerate some of the other industries like international trade, education in the Third World Country. On the other side, the social problem that was found by Dr. Patel was different: if it was necessary for the poor to plant GMOs. On his position, the media was telling people that GMO food was helping the poor, however, the fact was the farmers only received a little knowledge about the current ...
