The Human Papillomavirus Is Transmitted Through Sexual...
Abstract
The Human Papillomavirus is transmitted through sexual contact. Specifically in males, it can lead to
cancers of the anus, penis, and pharynx. The estimated probability that a sexually active person will
get a new genital HPV infection is between 29% and 39% (Hawke). The Human Papillomavirus
infects both males and females; however, the protective benefit in heterosexual males has not yet been
explored. Therefore, this study monitored the efficacy of the HPV vaccine in heterosexual males to see
how it affected both the short term and long term health of their female partners. This study
demonstrated that heterosexual males who received the vaccination and their unvaccinated partners
showed higher anti HPV antibody titer levels, decreased HPV positivity results via PCR tests, and
decreased cancer development rates than the unvaccinated men and their unvaccinated partners. For
the Pap smears, those with both groups of men were tested and it was found that women with
unvaccinated men were more likely to have abnormal Pap smears than those who were with
vaccinated men. The initial goal of developing the HPV vaccination in 2006 was to protect women
against cervical cancer (Edgar). As the years progressed, males were encouraged to receive the
vaccination, and the results of our study reveal the dual role of vaccinating men in protecting against
certain types of anal and penile cancer, as well as serving as increased protection to their partners.

Argumentative Essay On Kennewick Man
The historic discovery of Kennewick Man in Kennewick, Washington, caused a great deal of
controversy on whether to use the skull for scientific purposes or to simply return him back to the
local tribes for reburial. At first, when Kennewick Man was first discovered in 1996, scientific testing
failed to determine the specific tribe that the man belonged to. In spite of the argument one could
make that it was unethical to keep the skull since it has to belong to one of the Native American tribes,
until a specific tribe was discovered as Kennewick Man s ancestors, I feel as if it was perfectly liable
to keep the skull for scientific use. However, Kennewick Man eventually was determined to be
affiliated with the Colville tribe, therefore at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By having requirements to return archaeological findings back to their native tribes entirely,
archaeologists are limited in their discoveries and possibly their job. An archaeological discovery is
meaningless if it never experiences any practical investigation on whether its characteristics benefit
society. For this reason, archaeologists should own the right to keep critically important parts of
Kennewick Man s skull such as his teeth, but return the rest of the skull to the Colville tribe and find
an equal compromise. DNA testing should be the first step in deriving information from an
archaeological discovery such as a skull, but NAGPRA should give archaeologists the right to keep
the most important parts of discoveries for scientific use and then return the remaining parts to the
native tribe. In the long run, scientific progress is prevented whenever conflicts emerge over the
ownership of archaeological discoveries, therefore Native American tribes should have the courtesy to
allow archaeologists to use only specific parts of a specimen and have the remaining parts returned to
them if DNA testing comes back positive in relation to their

Philosophy Vs Native American Culture
There are many interpretations and comparisons of philosophy that can be made. These views come
from different cultural and intellectual backgrounds from Native Americans to the scientific
community within the western world; all of which seek to answer the question of the relationship
between self and nature. The Native American culture has several different ideas that shape their
philosophical way of thinking. These ideas include circularity and relatedness, conceptualization of
person, poetry of performance and two world principles (Smith 2010). Conversely, western forms of
intellectualism stem from making clarifications that distinctively set apart knowledge in science,
religion humanity and technology. This is not the case with philosophical ideas and ways of thinking
such as in the Native American culture. There are no clear distinctions in the ways of interpretation in
the manner of storytelling, to teach lessons and morals to their youth. For example, the Native
American narratives in telling the story of an elder who envisions himself as a great leader to his
people, but before he can fully realize this vision he must endure hardship in learning discipline
through hunting and fishing during a summer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jim Baggott goes further in declaring reality to be a metaphysical concept and not measurable by the
confines of science. In fact, reality can be manipulated by the human mind (Trigg 2015). Even
Socrates and Aristotle had some understanding of this notion and took nothing in their physical world
for granted when it came to trying to understand the nature of self to the physical. However

Essay on The Scientific Revolution and The Enlightenment
The Scientific revolution in the 16th and 17th centuries changed the way that people views the world.
Scientific philosophers such as Galileo and Descartes threw out the old teachings of the church and
challenged them with new ways of thinking. These men sought to prove that rational thought could
prove the existence of God. They also challenged that it was an understanding of a series of rational
thoughts, not faith, would bring understanding of how the world worked. Traditional ways of thinking
were ultimately challenged by logical and sensible rationale. Galileo Galilei was an Italian
philosopher born in 1564. As an adult, he didn t believe the universal geocentric theory of the planets
and heavens which was established by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Galileo stepped backed and worked on a book, which gave the arguments that for and against the
heliocentric theory. When he finally published the book, he was persecuted for heresy by the Catholic
Church and sentenced to house arrest in 1663. While under house arrest, he did studies on falling
object and their acceleration to the earth. The Catholic Church later apologized and acknowledged that
Galileo was treated unfairly in 1992.There is now a statue of Galileo inside the Vatican as a monument
and an attempt to make amends. Scientifically, Galileo will be remembered for invention of the
telescope, which allowed astronomers, sailors and other view the heavens and seas, which fed their
own theories. He used his own invention to discover the four moons of Jupiter, the mountains and
craters of the moon, and sunspots. His work on falling objects led to gravitational studies and
mathematical theorems which are on a basic level, physics. Experimentation was used as a means to
prove the laws of science along with the mathematical theories. Math, according to Galileo, was the
only infallible form of logic. If a mathematical law could be formed from an event, then it was a
logical, rational event. His breaking from the Catholic Church, voicing his findings and staying with
his convictions broke the traditional way of thinking that the Church was the end all and be all of all
things. In the end, he was proven right for most of his beliefs and vindicated for his suppression.

Truck Drivers Research Paper
Nearly everything you see in stores and even in your home was, at some point, transported overland
by a truck. Tractor trailer rigs in particular, haul cargo over longer distances than those covered by
local delivery trucks. Because of this, they carry much heavier loads and can weigh up to 80,000
pounds. This makes them 20 to 30 times heavier than the average car.
Truck drivers must obey the same traffic rules as other vehicles on the road and like many motorists,
their negligence can cause an accident. However, in a tractor trailer accident, the result can be
devastating to the occupants of the other vehicle. Their overwhelming size and weight can completely
demolish smaller vehicles. This is why so many federal regulations specifically ... Show more content

Truck drivers with multiple traffic violations and tractor trailer accidents on their driving record are
somehow able to get rehired several times. These types of drivers rarely improve their records because
of their dangerous driving habits. Habits are notoriously difficult to change.
Trucking carriers are increasingly hiring inexperienced drivers because of the current driver shortage.
Most of the experienced drivers are retiring, which means a dangerously large percentage of truck
drivers on the road today have minimal experience.
Distracted Driving
Truck drivers are distracted by many of the same things as the ordinary motorist. These include cell
phone conversations, texting, GPS programming, mobile app use, eating, daydreaming, reaching for
objects, and other distractions both inside and outside of the truck.
Fatigue
Federally mandated hours of service rules directed at ensuring that truck drivers get their rest, such as
placing maximum time limits on continuous driving, do not necessarily keep fatigued drivers off the
road. Drivers may fail to get a good night s rest or knowingly violate regulations in order to meet their
schedules. Fatigue can impair driving as severely as intoxication, and in extreme cases, cause the

Literary Analysis Of Absalom And Achiophel By John Dryden
Absalom and Achiophel : the wondrous satirical poem written by John Dryden himself which features
the many different ways of inviting humorous and satirical aspects of the Popish plot to light. George
Villiers, the second duke of Buckingham, was no exception for Dryden. So much so that the footnotes
of the couplets involving George even states that the section on George was The least political of the
satirical portraits in the poem (Noggle, 2226). Claiming that George Villiers, in Dryden s eyes, was
not fit to be a leader in the Popish plot was an extreme understatement as he painted an
overwhelmingly satirical image of how George was not only incapable of making an impact in the
Popish plot, but is upright a fool to society. Dryden, in the process of painting this satirical imagery,
also uses George as an example of showing consequentialism in action.
In Absalom and Achitophel Dryden begins with writing how George Villier only positive credential of
being part of the popish plot is that he comes from his royalty in Buckingham as his other credentials
lack in uniqueness when compared to the other members of society. He eludes that George Villier
became a chief of the Popish plot because he was one of the princes of the land (543). Ironically,
however, this is followed up by Dryden describing him as A man so various, that he seemed to be /
Not one, but all mankind s epitome (545 546). Claiming him to be a chief in this context is ironic in

Who Killed Jonbenet Ramsey Unsolved
The Ramsey family has always been big suspects. The death of JonBenet Ramsey has confused the
world and remains unsolved. JonBenet Ramsey was in beauty pageants and she is named after her
father John Ramsey. JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered on December 26, 1996 at the age of 6
years old. She is buried by her mother who died in 2006, and her half sister Elizabeth Ramsey who
died in 1992 due to a car crash. Her parents became suspects in 1997. After research the Ramsey
family was said to be not related to the actual murderer. (JonBenet Ramsey Murder Fast Facts) When
they looked at JonBenet thoroughly, they said that she had a fractured skull possibly from a flashlight.

This reason was because she always got upset and JonBenet when she wetted her bed. Another reason
is because it is said that sometimes Patsy Ramsey would flip a switch in a room, and slam JonBenet s

think that Patsy could have killed her daughter because the rope around JonBenet s neck was made by
a homemade garrote determined to have been fashioned out of a paintbrush taken from Patsy s paint
kit that laid near JonBenet when she was found. A very big possibility is that the letter left on the
staircase steps could have been from Patsy after realizing that she had killed JonBenet. When
investigators looked around for possible evidence they found that the pen that had been used to write
the note was from inside the house. (Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey? 8 Possible

After two years of college, Charles drops out and peruses his aviation dreams. He moved to Lincoln,
Nebraska where he joined the Nebraskan Aircraft Corporation. This Corporation would buy old
military planes and fix them up. This gave Charles a chance to learn how to work on planes and
understand them. Charles got the chance to go out with one of the pilots on a barnstorming tour, he
was a wing walker. Charles would go on one more tour before heading to Georgia, where he would
purchase his own surplus airplane. Charles went on a single barnstorming tour by himself before
joining the Army Air Service. This army flying school was extremely hard, but Charles excelled. In

How Did The Unfit Emperors Lead To The Fall Of Rome
The Western Roman Empire was one of the greatest Empires of the world
In the Western Roman Empire politics was the first contributing factor the fall of it. One of the many
reasons is because of their unfit emperors. They had many. The ones who were unfit, were greedy and
used cruelty to control and keep control of their empire. Not all showed the ability to be the emperor,
some of them inherited the throne, and some of the people who did had a mentally unstable
personality. Some Emperors were assassinated by their Praetorian Guard for position or money. Once

thing for the Germanic tribes to do because you can only live without fresh water for less than a week.
When the rivers, Rhine and Danube Rivers, froze it helped the invaders sense they could just walk

Shaw, Arms and Heroes
The Nobel Prize winning author George Bernard Shaw was born on July 26, 1856 in Dublin, Ireland.
During his early years, Shaw and his two older siblings received their education from their clerical
uncle whom provided them with tutoring sessions. He received an irregular education because he
disliked the idea of organized training. Shaw grew to explore and appreciate various art forms through
the influence of his mother whom would take him on a regular basis to visit the National Gallery of
Ireland. During the year 1872, Shaw s mother left his father taking his two older sisters with her to
London. Shaw decided to join his family in London four years later after deciding to pursue writing.
His mother supported Shaw financially as he strove to write his first few novels. Unfortunately, these
novels met with failure. Publishers rejected them. Therefore, Shaw turned his attention away from
novel writing to focus on British academic politics and activities. He joined the Fabian Society during
the year 1884 and quickly became heavily integrated within the group. The following year Shaw was
able to find writing opportunities by composing critical reviews of literature, art, music and theatre.
Shaw was persuaded to join the Saturday Review as a theatre critic in 1895. Shaw took advantage of
his position and decided to write plays in order to illustrate his criticism of the English stage . Thus,
his first collection of works Plays Pleasant and Unpleasant was published in 1898. The

The Pros And Cons Of The Calera Parkway Project
As America enters an era of development in transportation, people are bound to tackle traffic
congestions. Today, Americans spend 14.5 million hours every day in traffic because the roads have
more vehicles than they can hold. Heavy traffic is mainly caused by the economy and school systems
as they require people to go to work or school around the same time (Morgan, The Costs of Highway
Congestion ). There are many public transportation systems that can help reduce vehicles on the road;
however, people choose to use private vehicles. People find private cars more efficient, comfortable,
and faster than public transportation. One of the traffic congestions that provoked a dispute sits in the
city of Pacifica.
Along the Pacific coastline of California lies the Highway 1, also known as the Pacific Coast
Highway, stretching from the northern border of Oregon to San Diego. The Pacific Coast Highway
lies at the edge of the Pacific Ocean that provides the beautiful, natural sceneries. However, Highway
1 is a four lane freeway and is busy during peak hours as commuters drive in and out of Pacifica
frequently. The reason for heavy traffic on Highway 1, is because there are more vehicles on the road
with a limited amount of space.
The Calera Parkway Project.
To reduce traffic congestion during peak hours, Caltrans introduced a project known as the Calera
Parkway Project. Caltrans is the California Department of Transportation who manages highways and

The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of Osmosis...
Osmosis
Haley Klanke
BIO 120 923 Grand Valley State University klankeh@mail.gvsu.edu Abstract
In this study we constructed we researched whether different sucrose concentrations affect the rate of
osmosis. In order to do this, we constructed artificial cells out of dialysis tubing filled with 20%
sucrose and 40% sucrose and weighed them every 10 minutes for 90 minutes. In doing so, we
concluded that the higher the sucrose concentration, the faster the rate of osmosis.
Introduction
Osmosis is the passive movement of water from an area of low solute concentration to an area of high
solute concentration, normally across a membrane which prevents the movement of solvent. This is a
process by which materials may move into, out of, or within cells. Osmosis doesn t depend on energy
provided by living organisms but is affected by the properties of the cell membrane. The rate of
osmosis is dependent on such factors as temperature, pressure, molecular properties such as size and
mass, and the concentration gradient. In osmosis, the relationship between a solute s concentration
outside of cell and inside of a cell is described in terms of the tonicity of the solution outside of the
cell. A cell is in a hypotonic solution when the solute is more concentrated inside the cell and therefore
water moves into the cell. In this solution the cell swells as water enters, this may continue until it
ruptures or hemolyzes. In the reverse condition, the cell is in a hypertonic solution

Operation Mincemeat Ben Macintyre
Operation Mincemeat was written by Ben Macintyre, a writer for the Times of London, and an author
whose works are mainly on the espionage aspect of the Allied war effort in World War II, especially
the use of double agents. Macintyre became interested in Operation Mincemeat while conducting
research for another book on Eddie Chapman, a British double agent. He was specifically drawn to
Ewen Montagu, one of the masterminds behind this operation. Although Montagu had written a book
about these events, titled The Man Who Never Was in 1953, Macintyre understood that certain details
were omitted from the published work as it first had to be authorized by the Joint Intelligence
Committee. In order to fill in the gaps in Montagu s book, Macintyre began to search for the classified
documents pertaining to the operation, which he eventually obtained after contacting Montagu s son.
In fact, Macintyre eventually obtained Montagu s letters, his unpublished autobiography and the
uncensored version of his original book, which would be the sources of information for his new book
on Operation Mincemeat. Another factor that led him to write this book was the lack of material on
this secret operation available to the public, partly due to the British government s unwillingness to
divulge these classified operations from the war for almost fifty years. With the relaxing of these
restrictions by the government, Macintyre felt it was time to paint the complete picture of the events

Conformity And Obedience To Authority In Cool Hand Luke
Social influence plays a big part in how a person acts in a situation. A person s behaviour that has been

laugh and smile as they watch the animals at the zoo sleep. What these children do not realize is that
these animals are dying on the inside. Animals that live at the zoo are extremely depressed. These
animals can suffer severe psychological disorders from being out of their natural environment. But
others argue that keeping these animals in captivity will help keep endangered species alive. However,
the disadvantages of keeping animals in captivity are becoming more and more serious, and more
people are beginning to believe that animals should not be held captive. Animals should not be kept in
captivity because of the negative impact it can have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
77 elephants were examined at a British zoo, and only 11 of them were able to walk correctly. It is
said that advancements are being made to improve elephant environments in captivity, but numerous
zoos have shut down their elephant attractions (Smith, 2008). Many people are attracted to keeping
wild animals as pets. They believe the wild animals to be interesting and exciting. At a young age, the
animals may seem easier to tame, but the older these animals get, the more aggressive they tend to
become. Many problems can develop from keeping a wild animal as a pet. Wild animals have specific
needs that have to be met, in order for them to prosper. Only the most exceptional zoos and wildlife
centers provide a living area that somewhat resembles the natural habitat of these animals, but it is
virtually impossible to provide sufficient space for larger species (CFHS). In captivity animals do not
lose their wild instincts. They can be extremely unpredictable, and if provoked they can cause severe
harm to people. Some wild animals, such as reptiles and hedgehogs can actually carry bacteria called
salmonella, which is very easily transmitted to humans. Exotic animals can be very social, and need to
have a companion of the same species living with them. If the animal is kept isolated from its kind,
then it can suffer psychologically (CFHS). Many wild animals that are kept as pets often get
abandoned because the owner was not able to meet of its needs. Others try to

Essay On Kettle Bottom
In the book Kettle Bottom there are three sections divided, with several different narrators. The
narrators appear and disappear throughout the book. One of the poems stood out, which pertained an
exchange of letters between two sisters. During this time period women were often disregarded, and
were looked down upon. Fisher including the women in Kettle Bottom, displays her gratitude and how
she is sympathetic towards the women. Throughout Kettle Bottom, there is a collection of poems titled
My Dearest Hazel. The My Dearest Hazel collection was the most intriguing to me as it included the
Appalachian women and their hardships. The poems specifically focuses in on a young woman Hazel.

I believe that the Appalachian women were exhilarating and independent women, that should have
never been overlooked, just as it is displayed. I found this piece so interesting as Fisher dug deeper
into the women, making them appear more in depth. In the second appearance of My Dearest Hazel,
the sister is writing to Hazel, following up with her. At this point her sister has observed that Hazel is
pregnant and it is also now known to the readers that Hazel married Turely. As her sister stated, I
afeared that s what it was, Hazel, when I see you at the wedding, looking so pale and peaked. Her
sister explains her fear for Hazel and that most people are stuck living in tents. Her fear is that she will
end up living the same. Her sister states, You get ready, honey / Cart all your canned goods up to
Momma s, your quilts, / your pretty dishes them Baldwin Felts / break things up when they put people
out / and you will need / to hang onto whatever you can (Fisher, 27).
The chance Turly not surviving from working in the coal mine, and the fear of marriage not working
with a child makes Hazel s sister concerned. She wants Hazel to cherish the things she already has,
before she loses then. I found this poem so intriguing as Hazel s pregnancy was not something
celebrated but something feared. Pregnancy is typically an exciting time for a woman, but in this
situation was something not recommended. The last poem in the

Vertical Occupational Mobility of Labour and Organization
Vertical Occupational mobility of labour and organizational commitment; Banking Sector of Pakistan
ABSTRACT
The study of my topic i.e. vertical occupational mobility of labour and Organizational commitment
comes under Human Resource Management (HRM). HRM itself by its name describes that it is an
approach of people working in an organization which play an important role in achieving organization

The second data set is of 1970 s Census of Population which resulted that occupational mobility and
inter country mobility are not independent when accounted for different age and sex groups.
Larry D. Schroeder. (1976) created an occupational mobility matrix by observing mobility patterns of
non movers and interstate movers of United States (observation period is five years or more), after
which it was evident that occupational and geographic mobility are affiliated which each other. He
further states that manpower planners must keep this relationship in mind when they project the
responses to their strategies to stimulate occupational and inter state mobility.
Occupational Mobility and Wage Inequality
Nachum Sicherman amp; Oded Galor (1990) states that if a wage profile difference across individuals
in a firm is found workers will change their occupation or quit from that specific firm. Furthermore,
Gueorgui Kambourov and Iourii Manovskii (2004) in their study indicate that occupational mobility
and wage inequality are interrelated. They developed a general equilibrium model which resulted that
increase in occupational mobility is 90% because of the significant increase in wage inequality over
the time.

How Does Chaucer Use The Grotesque In The Merchant s Tale
In The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer uses the obscene and the grotesque to illustrate to the readers the
bawdy stories of the pilgrims on the journey and highlight their class differences. Although the
members of the lower class use elements of the vulgar and grotesque, the erasure of some of the more
obscene scenes by the storytellers indicates Chaucer s humor to the audience as it is a rhetorical
device. In The Merchant s Tale, Chaucer gives the merchant, whose position is caught between the
higher classes and the lower classes, the power to perform paralipsis to cheekily clue the audience in
to the more vulgar moments of the story as well as depicting monstrous imagery. One of the first
instances in which Chaucer uses the merchant to erase

Negative Effects Of Egocentrism
We are a social species. We reproduce sexually and thus our relationships with those around us are
essential to our ability to succeed as an individual. With these ideas in mind, society has come to
denounce egocentrism and to view those who are prone to it as undesirable and incapable of success.
Egocentrism is defined in the Oxford dictionary as Thinking only of oneself, without regard for the
feelings or desires of others. In the eyes of most, to think only of oneself is to be parasitic to all others.
To lack empathy is to be inherently indifferent which precedes unsuccessfulness. Why is it then that

However, in my experience, for an egomaniac money, sex, and other transient pleasures are just as
good as long term relationships. Love and happiness are chemical cocktails. These chemicals present
themselves just as readily in fleeting relationships; commitment is unnecessary to their appearance.
More than that, a self centered person, barring any mental illness, can choose whether they behave
egocentrically or benevolently in their relationships depending on what they find advantageous. But,
the instability of relationships among the egocentric can also be harmful to their empathetic friends
and romantic partners. This case is a bit more tricky, it can be somewhat difficult to just choose to hate
someone even if exposure to them is harmful. Is it really fair to let egotism go unchecked if it
destabilizes relationships and causes emotionally harmed to the less naturally egotistical? Truthfully,
one must manage their own relationships. If one experiences emotional distress due to someone else s
self obsession it is his own fault for becoming involved with an egomaniac. Egocentrism is inherently
harmful to interpersonal relationships, but that is the problem of the egomaniac and nobody

Censorship Definition Essay
A multitude of countries and organizations use censorship for various reasons. However something
they all have in common is the one providing the censored material does not want the reader or viewer
to know something, whether that be the true state of a country or the real history of a matter.
Censorship is a constant tug a war between two sides for the truth over a subject. This form of
restriction can be observed from the early 1900 s to today s modern times, and can also be seen
worldwide in countries that have little to nothing in common. A vast amount of media is not prohibited

Nurse-Patient Communication Journal Analysis
The journal that I chose to read was Effect Of Communication On Nurse Patient Relationship In
National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, Arungwa. This journal demonstrates the importance of
nurse patient communication and how nurse patient communication effects the outcomes of the patient
care. Nurse patient communication involves more than just words being exchanged between two or
more people. Nurse patient communication needs to exhibit feelings and recognition of those feelings
so that the patient knows that their feelings have been recognized. According to this journal, most
patients stated that their nurses initiated conversation, listened attentively but did not show empathy or

Pull Factors For High School Dropout Rates In The United...
High school dropout rates are a common and persistent concern for many states. Often times, a higher
rate of dropouts can reflect negatively on the quality of education within the state. There are various
factors that contribute to the dropout rates observed throughout the country. These factors are
commonly split up as push, pull, and falling factors. Push factors are factors within the school
environment that causes the students to be pushed out of the institution. Falling factors are students
becoming apathetic towards school which leads to decrease in school performance, often due to
insufficient support both personally and academically. Pull factors are factors that relate to the
students themselves outside of the school which diverts them from finishing school. Rather than
focusing on all three factors, I decided to focus on the pull factors in order to keep things simple. My

Difference Between Cat And Dogs
There are numerous pet lovers in the United States and world. Many have heard the question about
either being a dog or a cat person. Cat and dog owners are all over the globe. The argument which
dogs are better than cats or cats are better than dogs has been an argument which has been going on
forever and ever. The cat and dog rivalry has been going on for years, decades, or possibly more than a
century. Out of the two animals, one has to be superior to the other. Most Americans would prefer to
own a dog over a cat, and only a few would rather have a cat as a pet than a dog. Not too many
citizens would have both cat and dogs as pets or none at all as pets. Approximately 80 million people
own pets, close to 37% own a dog and roughly 30% are owners of a cat. Depending on whether
someone is a dog owner or a cat owner, personality types differ. There are plenty of reasons why a dog
is a better pet than a cat. Having a dog is similar to having another caring person around. Being a dog
owner is better than being a cat owner. Being a dog owner is better because having a dog as a pet
comes with many benefits. Generally having a dog as a pet is an abundance of fun for several
individuals. People who have fun tend to be more positive in life, and a dog can bring out the positive
side in almost every individual. A dog can help others in multiple ways that people may not know

The Pros And Cons Of Egoism
Egoism is the theory that one ought to do what is in one s self interest. One is to maximize their own
self interest and potential. One cannot prosper if they contain their own interests and needs in order to
satisfy the interests of others. Once morality is obtained by one protecting their personal interests and
content with it, then they are able to satisfy the interests of others. Egoism is similar to that anything
that would aid in survival is good and anything that hampers survival is evil. There are two types of
egoism, psychological or descriptive egoism and ethical or normative egoism. Psychological egoism is
that humans are only driven by self interest. For example if one were to help another human being, the

Thomas Hobbes argues that egoism is valid through a sense of morality and that an individual will end
up being altruistic through his views of egoism. Ayn Rand another famous philosopher states that one
can only be either altruistic or egoistic. One cannot be both. Ayn Rand believes an individual has value
and that the only philosophy that states that an individual has self worth is egoism. Ethical egoism is
often based off the fact that psychological egoism is true and this entails that we always act
egotistically and cannot prevent ourselves from acting this way. An example of this would be if one
were to donate to a charity that helps little kids. In terms of psychological egoism the individual didn t
donate money to the charity to help kids, that would altruistic, one did it because one wanted to.

How to Control Huntington’s Disease
Currently, there is no cure for Huntington s disease (HD) and only limited numbers of treatments are
effective in controlling HD symptoms. HD a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by
motor disturbances, psychiatric dysfunctions, and cognitive disabilities. HD is inherited in an
autosomal dominant manner, means that the inheritance of a single copy of the mutant huntingtin
allele containing an expanded CAG repeat region in exon 1 ( 36 CAG repeat) causes the disease.
Translation of the mutant allele mRNA yields the mutant huntingtin protein (mHtt) containing an
expanded polyglutamine region near the amino terminus, which favor protein cleavage and
accumulation of the N terminus in the nucleus. N terminal huntingtin affects transcription of subsets
of genes. Early in HD progression, levels of the cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1) and dopamine
receptor type 2 (D2) are reduced in the medium spiny neurons of the striatum. CB1 receptor is able to
activate several signaling pathways through the activation of different G proteins as well as arrestin 2.
Furthermore, compelling anatomical and physiological evidence suggests a strong interaction between
the CB1 and D2 receptors. Given this interaction between CB1 and D2 receptors, drugs that block or
activate either receptor will influence convergent signaling pathways. Typical and atypical
antipsychotics, including haloperidol and olanzapine, respectively, are commonly prescribed to HD
patients to control chorea and

Innovation In Child Care Centers

Child care centers (CCC) are referred to here as organizations. However, this study limits its focus to

essential for sustainability.
Human actions and interactions, in the process of value creation, play significant roles for attaining

The Generation Of The World Essay
This distinction allows Athanasius to argue that the Arians had confused the ideas of offspring with
creature and the verbs to beget with to create. What becomes apparent from the above Athanasian text
is that the decisive factor which defines the distinction between offspring and creature is the person of
the Father and his role in the generation of the Son and the creation of the world. Athanasius task
becomes proving that the Father is portrayed in the Bible as personally involved in the generation of
the Son as opposed to the creatures who exist outside of him. In this effort he turns to Psalms and
examines three texts: Psalm 2:7 ( The Lord said to me, My son you are; today I have begotten you ),
Psalm 44:2 ( My heart spoke a good word ), and Psalm 109:3 ( From the womb, before Morning star, I
brought you forth ) and synthesizes them with verses speaking of the Father s direct relation to the Son
(Matt. 3:17; John 8:42; 6:46).
Matt. 3:17, 17:5
The Father s personal relationship with the Son is perhaps nowhere more evident than in the baptism
and transfiguration (Mat. 3:17, 17:5; Mark 1:11, 9:7; Luke 3:22, 9:35). Traditionally interpreted along
Trinitarian terms Athanasius makes use of this voluntary declaration of the Father with the Son as

Civilian Conservation Corps and the Great Depression
Our greatest task is to put people to work. This is no unsolvable problem if we face it wisely and
courageously. It can be accomplished in part by direct recruiting by the government itself, treating the
task as we would threat the emergency of war, but at the same time, through this employment,
accomplishing greatly needed projects to stimulate and recognize the use of our national resources.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
March 4, 1933 Franklin Delano Roosevelt indeed turned the lives of many young male Americans

stability, in his message to Congress. On March 31, 1933 Roosevelt signed the bill into law and just

With the help of local boards, the Department of Labor selected the enrollees. The War Department
housed, clothed, and fed the men, and organized and administered the camps. The Department of
Agriculture and Interior planned the work projects. (Smith)

record revealing the occupant s age, and sign up for a six month minimum service. They were at this
time willing to donate $25 of their $30 per month towards their family. Applications in Houghton
County could be picked up at the Laurium

  • 2. The Human Papillomavirus Is Transmitted Through Sexual... Abstract The Human Papillomavirus is transmitted through sexual contact. Specifically in males, it can lead to cancers of the anus, penis, and pharynx. The estimated probability that a sexually active person will get a new genital HPV infection is between 29% and 39% (Hawke). The Human Papillomavirus infects both males and females; however, the protective benefit in heterosexual males has not yet been explored. Therefore, this study monitored the efficacy of the HPV vaccine in heterosexual males to see how it affected both the short term and long term health of their female partners. This study demonstrated that heterosexual males who received the vaccination and their unvaccinated partners showed higher anti HPV antibody titer levels, decreased HPV positivity results via PCR tests, and decreased cancer development rates than the unvaccinated men and their unvaccinated partners. For the Pap smears, those with both groups of men were tested and it was found that women with unvaccinated men were more likely to have abnormal Pap smears than those who were with vaccinated men. The initial goal of developing the HPV vaccination in 2006 was to protect women against cervical cancer (Edgar). As the years progressed, males were encouraged to receive the vaccination, and the results of our study reveal the dual role of vaccinating men in protecting against certain types of anal and penile cancer, as well as serving as increased protection to their partners. • 3. Argumentative Essay On Kennewick Man The historic discovery of Kennewick Man in Kennewick, Washington, caused a great deal of controversy on whether to use the skull for scientific purposes or to simply return him back to the local tribes for reburial. At first, when Kennewick Man was first discovered in 1996, scientific testing failed to determine the specific tribe that the man belonged to. In spite of the argument one could make that it was unethical to keep the skull since it has to belong to one of the Native American tribes, until a specific tribe was discovered as Kennewick Man s ancestors, I feel as if it was perfectly liable to keep the skull for scientific use. However, Kennewick Man eventually was determined to be affiliated with the Colville tribe, therefore at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By having requirements to return archaeological findings back to their native tribes entirely, archaeologists are limited in their discoveries and possibly their job. An archaeological discovery is meaningless if it never experiences any practical investigation on whether its characteristics benefit society. For this reason, archaeologists should own the right to keep critically important parts of Kennewick Man s skull such as his teeth, but return the rest of the skull to the Colville tribe and find an equal compromise. DNA testing should be the first step in deriving information from an archaeological discovery such as a skull, but NAGPRA should give archaeologists the right to keep the most important parts of discoveries for scientific use and then return the remaining parts to the native tribe. In the long run, scientific progress is prevented whenever conflicts emerge over the ownership of archaeological discoveries, therefore Native American tribes should have the courtesy to allow archaeologists to use only specific parts of a specimen and have the remaining parts returned to them if DNA testing comes back positive in relation to their ... • 4. Philosophy Vs Native American Culture There are many interpretations and comparisons of philosophy that can be made. These views come from different cultural and intellectual backgrounds from Native Americans to the scientific community within the western world; all of which seek to answer the question of the relationship between self and nature. The Native American culture has several different ideas that shape their philosophical way of thinking. These ideas include circularity and relatedness, conceptualization of person, poetry of performance and two world principles (Smith 2010). Conversely, western forms of intellectualism stem from making clarifications that distinctively set apart knowledge in science, religion humanity and technology. This is not the case with philosophical ideas and ways of thinking such as in the Native American culture. There are no clear distinctions in the ways of interpretation in the manner of storytelling, to teach lessons and morals to their youth. • 7. Literary Analysis Of Absalom And Achiophel By John Dryden Absalom and Achiophel : the wondrous satirical poem written by John Dryden himself which features the many different ways of inviting humorous and satirical aspects of the Popish plot to light. George Villiers, the second duke of Buckingham, was no exception for Dryden. So much so that the footnotes of the couplets involving George even states that the section on George was The least political of the satirical portraits in the poem (Noggle, 2226). Claiming that George Villiers, in Dryden s eyes, was not fit to be a leader in the Popish plot was an extreme understatement as he painted an overwhelmingly satirical image of how George was not only incapable of making an impact in the Popish plot, but is upright a fool to society. Dryden, in the process of painting this satirical imagery, also uses George as an example of showing consequentialism in action. In Absalom and Achitophel Dryden begins with writing how George Villier only positive credential of being part of the popish plot is that he comes from his royalty in Buckingham as his other credentials lack in uniqueness when compared to the other members of society. He eludes that George Villier became a chief of the Popish plot because he was one of the princes of the land (543). • 14. The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of Osmosis... Osmosis Haley Klanke BIO 120 923 Grand Valley State University klankeh@mail.gvsu.edu Abstract In this study we constructed we researched whether different sucrose concentrations affect the rate of osmosis. In order to do this, we constructed artificial cells out of dialysis tubing filled with 20% sucrose and 40% sucrose and weighed them every 10 minutes for 90 minutes. In doing so, we concluded that the higher the sucrose concentration, the faster the rate of osmosis. Introduction Osmosis is the passive movement of water from an area of low solute concentration to an area of high solute concentration, normally across a membrane which prevents the movement of solvent. This is a process by which materials may move into, out of, or within cells. Osmosis doesn t depend on energy provided by living organisms but is affected by the properties of the cell membrane. The rate of osmosis is dependent on such factors as temperature, pressure, molecular properties such as size and mass, and the concentration gradient. In osmosis, the relationship between a solute s concentration outside of cell and inside of a cell is described in terms of the tonicity of the solution outside of the cell. A cell is in a hypotonic solution when the solute is more concentrated inside the cell and therefore water moves into the cell. In this solution the cell swells as water enters, this may continue until it ruptures or hemolyzes. In the reverse condition, the cell is in a hypertonic solution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With these ideas in mind, society has come to denounce egocentrism and to view those who are prone to it as undesirable and incapable of success. Egocentrism is defined in the Oxford dictionary as Thinking only of oneself, without regard for the feelings or desires of others. In the eyes of most, to think only of oneself is to be parasitic to all others. To lack empathy is to be inherently indifferent which precedes unsuccessfulness. But, the instability of relationships among the egocentric can also be harmful to their empathetic friends and romantic partners. This case is a bit more tricky, it can be somewhat difficult to just choose to hate someone even if exposure to them is harmful. Is it really fair to let egotism go unchecked if it destabilizes relationships and causes emotionally harmed to the less naturally egotistical? Truthfully, one must manage their own relationships. • 34. Pull Factors For High School Dropout Rates In The United... High school dropout rates are a common and persistent concern for many states. Often times, a higher rate of dropouts can reflect negatively on the quality of education within the state. There are various factors that contribute to the dropout rates observed throughout the country. These factors are commonly split up as push, pull, and falling factors. Push factors are factors within the school environment that causes the students to be pushed out of the institution. Falling factors are students becoming apathetic towards school which leads to decrease in school performance, often due to insufficient support both personally and academically. Pull factors are factors that relate to the students themselves outside of the school which diverts them from finishing school. The cat and dog rivalry has been going on for years, decades, or possibly more than a century. Out of the two animals, one has to be superior to the other. Most Americans would prefer to own a dog over a cat, and only a few would rather have a cat as a pet than a dog. Not too many citizens would have both cat and dogs as pets or none at all as pets. Approximately 80 million people own pets, close to 37% own a dog and roughly 30% are owners of a cat. Depending on whether someone is a dog owner or a cat owner, personality types differ. There are plenty of reasons why a dog is a better pet than a cat. Having a dog is similar to having another caring person around. Being a dog owner is better than being a cat owner. Being a dog owner is better because having a dog as a pet comes with many benefits. Generally having a dog as a pet is an abundance of fun for several individuals. HD a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor disturbances, psychiatric dysfunctions, and cognitive disabilities. HD is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner, means that the inheritance of a single copy of the mutant huntingtin allele containing an expanded CAG repeat region in exon 1 ( 36 CAG repeat) causes the disease. Translation of the mutant allele mRNA yields the mutant huntingtin protein (mHtt) containing an expanded polyglutamine region near the amino terminus, which favor protein cleavage and accumulation of the N terminus in the nucleus. N terminal huntingtin affects transcription of subsets of genes. Early in HD progression, levels of the cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1) and dopamine receptor type 2 (D2) are reduced in the medium spiny neurons of the striatum. CB1 receptor is able to activate several signaling pathways through the activation of different G proteins as well as arrestin 2. Furthermore, compelling anatomical and physiological evidence suggests a strong interaction between the CB1 and D2 receptors. Given this interaction between CB1 and D2 receptors, drugs that block or activate either receptor will influence convergent signaling pathways. • 40. The Generation Of The World Essay This distinction allows Athanasius to argue that the Arians had confused the ideas of offspring with creature and the verbs to beget with to create. What becomes apparent from the above Athanasian text is that the decisive factor which defines the distinction between offspring and creature is the person of the Father and his role in the generation of the Son and the creation of the world. Athanasius task becomes proving that the Father is portrayed in the Bible as personally involved in the generation of the Son as opposed to the creatures who exist outside of him. In this effort he turns to Psalms and examines three texts: Psalm 2:7 ( The Lord said to me, My son you are; today I have begotten you ), Psalm 44:2 ( My heart spoke a good word ), and Psalm 109:3 ( From the womb, before Morning star, I brought you forth ) and synthesizes them with verses speaking of the Father s direct relation to the Son (Matt. 3:17; John 8:42; 6:46). Matt. 3:17, 17:5 The Father s personal relationship with the Son is perhaps nowhere more evident than in the baptism and transfiguration (Mat. 3:17, 17:5; Mark 1:11, 9:7; Luke 3:22, 9:35).
